The contact owns a 2014 BMW 328I. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine overheated. An alarm sound was coming from the vehicle. An unknown warning light was illuminated, and there was smoke coming from under the hood. The contact's son was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the water pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The mechanic called the BMW dealer to order the parts and asked if there was a recall for the water pump, and was informed that there was no recall for the water pump issued by BMW. Upon further investigation, the contact found a recall on the NHTSA.gov website issued by BMW for the water pump. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was a recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer informed the contact that to receive a reimbursement, the contact needed to contact a local BMW dealer to verify that the recall repair was completed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the original water pump was needed to complete the inspection. The contact informed the dealer that he no longer had the original part. Several weeks later, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V608000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The manufacturer denied the claim for reimbursement since the repair was not completed at a BMW dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

SERVICE BRAKES

The rear brakes cable holder is broken. This is a very common issue with this vehicle and appears to be a safety issue as the cables will hang and rub on the driveshaft. My service advisor, from BMW of Pembroke Pines, FL, Ramon Trull, also advised/ confirms the same. It's an inexpensive part, however, the cost to replace is exorbitant. If you search the web, you'll find many examples. I feel this should be covered under a recall. Please review and advise. Thank you!

I drove the car downhill very slowly. (Good weather, no rain or anything) The traffic light turned red and I tried to brake. However, the brake felt rock hard and the car was not slowing down. In the end I read-ended the car in front of me. No one was injured because I drove very slowly. But the car will probably be totaled.

WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION OF BRAKING POWER. IT IS MUCH WORSE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE WET(RAIN OR SNOW). AT TIMES THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE TO THE FLOOR LEAVING THE CAR UNABLE TO STOP WITHOUT THE USE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. SEVERAL TIMES I WAS AFRAID I WOULD BE UNABLE TO STOP & HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I AM A RN ON THE FRONT LINE TREATING PATIENTS IN THE ICU WHO HAVE CONTRACTED THE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) AND CANNOT AFFORD TO BE AWAY FROM MY JOB. THIS CONDITION FIRST HAPPENED IN OCT 2019 AND CONTINUES TODAY.

THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS THOSE REFERENCED IN RECALL #13V454000& 14V627000 THE BRAKING POWER IS LOST UNEXPECTEDLY RESULTING IN INCREASED VEHICLE STOPPING DISTANCE OR NO BRAKES AS WELL WHEN THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON BOTH LOCAL AND HIGHWAY DRIVING ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET.. THIS CONDITION FIRST HAPPENED IN OCT OF 2019 & CONTINUES TODAY. I AM AN RN ON THE FRONT LINE TREATING PATIENTS IN THE ICU WHO HAVE CONTRACTED THE CORONAVIRUS(COVID-19)AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO BE ACCIDENT FROM WORK DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED. BMW STATED MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND REFUSES TO REPAIR IT UNDER THE RECALL. WHILE DRIVING CAR HAD MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON IE. DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS. ABS AND CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKED. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC. HE SAID THE ABS CONTROL MODULE FAILED. MECHANIC SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE DUE TO ENGINEERING.

The engine coolant pump is leaking and causing my car to smoke it’s been happening right before the recall was posted. I’m concerned my car will catch on fire and there is no remedy for the fix yet. And it’s almost a whole year later.

What Happened: The issue involves a recall on the engine coolant system of my BMW. The car is currently unsafe to drive, and BMW has not provided a timetable for fixing the problem or offering a solution. The last time I drove the car, I experienced a dangerous malfunction. While driving slowly to the end of my street, I pressed the gas pedal, but the engine did not respond at all. The car essentially lost power, leaving me in the middle of the street. I was able to roll the car in front of a neighbor’s house, turn it off, and restart it. After restarting, I managed to drive it back up the street to my house. I have not driven the car since, as I do not want to put myself or others in danger. Safety Risk: The engine failure occurred while I was driving, which could have put me at risk of being struck by other vehicles. A sudden loss of engine power while driving, especially at higher speeds or in traffic, could cause a serious accident. Inspection/Confirmation: The recall has been acknowledged by BMW, but there is no timetable for when parts will be available to resolve the issue. I have contacted the corporate office and the local dealership. The dealer refuses to provide a rental car, leaving me without a viable transportation option. Warning Symptoms: No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms appeared before the failure occurred.

Timing Chain Guide failure after 75k miles resulting in catastrophic engine damage. I was in heavy traffic at 60 mph when the engine began to knock loudly, just as quick the drivetrain malfunction warning came on along with the oil pressure warning light. Immediately lost power & the vehicle went into “Limp Mode” and within a 3 seconds it completely shut down causing a plethora of problems that made it a nightmare to get off of this busy highway. Vehicles were narrowly missing me & blowing their horns while I was trying to coast off of the side of the roadway. All this happened in about 20 to 25 seconds.The car has been in the garage for 6 months & a confirmation was made on the timing chain guide failure. The inlet screen to the oil pump has pieces of the broken guides stuck in it which restricted the oil flow to the entire engine. Both front & rear crankshaft bearings were seized up & spun inside the engine block. Upon inspection of the top end of the engine, indicators suggesting extreme heat resulting in damage to both camshafts, connecting rods, rocker spring retainers, rocker arms, valves, & piston rings. The VIN number of the vehicle is amongst the ones included in the Class Action Lawsuit against BMW regarding the malfunction of the timing chain guides. I still haven’t heard back from BMW’s representatives to date. My vehicle needs fixed whether it’s beyond the mileage of the extended warranty or not!!

MFGR CAMPAIGN #: 24V-608:474 was issued in August 2024 for my car, a 2014 BMW 328i. It is now January, 2025 and no remedy is available. Is there a defined period of time that BMW needs to produce a remedy? How long should I expect to wait for the remedy to be available and for my dealership to make the repair? Thanks.

Engine and transmission mounts are collapsed. The car started making a rattling sound that seemed to start from the center of car traveling towards the steering wheel. There was never an alert or a system warning lamp advising of the issue. BMW dealer inspected the car and determined that the Engine and Transmission mounts were collapsed. Still no warning or alert came on. The potential risk of an entire engine and transmission to fall out without any warning can pose a huge danger and possible fatality.

The sunroof in my car exploded yesterday morning as I was driving in clear weather on the open freeway. There were no other vehicles or other obstacles near the car when the incident occurred; nothing to "throw up" a rock onto the car and cause the damage as BMW says occurs often in situations like this. When the sunroof blew out, it sounded like a gun went off in my car, My dad and I were was showered with glass, and the impact was so strong it made a dent on the roof of my car.

Inside door latches frequently do not open the locked doors - must use power door unlock first. This creates an unsafe situation if door needs to be unlocked quickly, under restricted mobility or if power is out following an accident or sustained sitting in car that is not running and cannot be re-started. There are two existing complaints about this issue related to this exact model and widely documented online. Since the door latch actuator on this model is shared with other models for this and many other years of similar models BMW should replace the affected actuators as a recall.

The contact owns a 2014 BMW 328i. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light, another vehicle crashed into the entire rear at 50 MPH causing the contact's vehicle to spin around twice and come to a stop in the middle of the street. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not destroyed. Two people were injured, the contact was seated in the driver's seat, and his brother was seated in the front passenger seat. No one else outside of the vehicle was injured. The contact and his brother received injuries to both their heads and backs. Medical treatment was not needed for the injuries. The vehicle was taken to a local body shop where the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Several BMW dealerships have told me they are unable to remedy a safety recall that pertains to the airbags. This puts anyone who drives this vehicle at severe risk if the airbags will not work. The dealership basically told me I'm out of luck. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer and they said they cannot fix it. I have tried contacting 4 BMW dealerships with no luck. There are no warning lamps or messages on the dash. The recall was announced to me April 2024.

Fortunately, an incident has yet to occur, but the Front Passenger Air Bag Occupancy Sensor is faulty causing the deactivation of the air bag rendering any passenger at risk. BMW of North America has been contacted about this faulty sensor. Recall B651017 & 17V-428 have addressed this faulty sensor on many BMW models with replacement as the remedy…a stated (3) hour repair. My BMW model (328i - 62k miles) unfortunately, is not listed on the recall notice, but, nonetheless, is still a safety issue. Serious enough that on the Recall it states that no passenger should sit in the front passenger seat while this faulty condition exists and further recommends passengers sit in the rear seats! Regardless of warranty status and recall model omission, I have reached out to BMW of North America. First response was refusal of any repair assistance with a textbook definition of a car warranty. It was further reviewed by their Escalation Team and the response was an echo of the first. If this wasn’t a safety issue that wasn’t addressed on other models via a recall, I wouldn’t be writing this and would abide by the car warranty and take care of myself. Since this is a known issue by BMW, I feel this repair should be taken care of as it affects the safety of my family. It affects any future owner as well, which now leaves me a car that is basically unsafe to sell leaving me in double jeopardy. After researching costs for this repair, it seems the average is $1500-$2000 which I cannot afford. I have offered to pay for parts and some labor but the Escalation Team (Clay) has offered zero in assistance. I leave this correspondence on record in case of an unfortunate event that could’ve been easily rectified and avoided. Thank you for allowing me to explain my situation. I HAVE HAD 4 CAR CRASHED QUIT THIS VEHICLE AND NEITHER TIME HAVE THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY AND I HAVE BECAME INJURED FROM THE CAR CRASHES IN MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED, I CAN'T HIT A CAR FROM THE FRONT I HAVE BEEN HIT FROM THE BACK AND NEITHER AIRBAGS HAVE DEPLOYED EVEN A PASSENGER GOT IN ON THE SITE AND THAT ARE BACK DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. FUEL TANK LEAKS GASOLINE. an alarming amount of fuel leaks and this is an issue that seams common among BMW F30 chasis. In my case when my car is ful tank it starts dripping fuel, visible. the problem seems to be a seal that is made to flex but with time that seal fails and creates a fire hazard due to high volatile fumes and liquid gas leakage. I was able to notice as I parked my car when arriving home due to the strong smell of fuel. -The issue is reproducible. -On the safety side, it puts a risk of Fire. -The vehicle unfortunately has not been inspected by police or insurance -There is an error code un the computer of the vehicle that has to do with detection of fuel leakage.

The car loose power while driving, near stop it pulls hard as it wants to turn off. Have show multiple times the fuel system error and shut off while operating. Is been doing the same problems for years now.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 BMW 328I. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. WHILE DRIVING TO REEVES BMW (109 E FOWLER AVE, TAMPA, FL 36612, THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO MORE TIMES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

MY CAR HAS STALLED TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO BE TOWED FOR SERVICE AS IT WOULD NOT START. THE ERROR IN THE SYSTEM WAS FOR THE FUEL PUMP. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR MY SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL FOR THIS ISSUE RELATED TO THE FUEL PUMP, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.

WHILE PROCEEDING AT 50 MPH ON HEAVILY-TRAVELED 2-LANE COUNTRY ROAD, THE ENGINE CUT OUT LEAVING THE CAR WITH NO PROPULSION. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE DRIVEWAY OF A LOCAL FARM AND COME TO A STOP SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. MY REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE ENGINE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. I THEN CALLED FOR A WRECKER WHICH TOWED THE CAR TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER SUBSEQUENTLY INFORMED ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED (REPAIR WORK WAS UNDER WARRANTY). NOTE: I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN 2014. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I PERFORMED A GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND THAT MY YEAR/MODEL BMW HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR A FUEL PUMP ISSUE [NHTSA CAMPAIGN 15V189000]. I NEVER RECEIVED THAT RECALL NOTICE AND TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, AM NOT AWARE THAT THE REQUIRED WORK WAS EVER DONE.

The water pump is draining my battery, the bmw dealership said they fixed the recall but it has not been fixed. They told me I needed a new battery which was replaced & now it’s back at the shop for a dead battery again.

The recall for this car part has been made public for 10 months and there is still not a remedy available. Considering the issue potentially being a fire hazard, I find this unacceptable and alarming. Since being notified of the news, I now have white smoke/steam coming out from the hood at times, which worries me as this is one of the possible effects from the recall. A BMW dealership will not take the car in if there is no resolution to this and it would be an out-of-pocket expense. I would understand all recalls take some time but it has been nearly a year and there have been no updates throughout this process.

WHILE DRIVING, I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT MAY LEFT REAR LIGHT HAD MALFUNCTIONED. A FEW DAYS LATER, I TOOK IT TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP FOR BULB REPLACEMENT AND MY YEARLY OIL CHANGE. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT IT WASN'T JUST THE LIGHT BULB THAT NEEDED REPLACING THE ENTIRE REAR LIGHT SYSTEM HAD MELTED. THE SOCKET, CONNECTOR, CONTACT POINTS ALL BURNT. THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. BMW RECALLED EARLIER YEAR VEHICLES FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE FIXED AT BMW'S EXPENSE. SINCE I CAN NOT AFFORD THE $600.00 BILL, I AM DRIVING WITHOUT A LEFT REAR SIGNAL WHICH IS NOT SAFE. I HAVE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF PARTS.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AS USUAL, MADE A LEFT HAND TURN, AND A NOTICE CAME ON THE DASHBOARD ALERTING ME THAT THE LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL AND LEFT REAR BRAKE LIGHT WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. AS THIS IS VERY CONCERNING, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST BMW DEALERSHIP FOR ANALYSIS. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND THAT THE ENTIRE WIRING HARNESS IN THE LEFT REAR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $905. IT WAS AT THIS POINT THAT I WANTED TO GET A SECOND OPINION, SO I HAD MY LOCAL MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK. HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE SCORCH MARKS WHERE THE GROUND WIRE CONNECTED INTO THE WIRING HARNESS, AND THAT THE GROUND PIN THAT IT CONNECTED TO ON THE OTHER SIDE WAS ENTIRELY ERODED. HE SUGGESTED THE REASON BEHIND THIS WAS THAT BMW USED AN INAPPROPRIATE GAUGE CONNECTOR FOR THE CURRENT THAT WAS BEING TRANSMITTED, CAUSING EROSION OVER TIME. HE WAS ABLE TO ORDER GENUINE BMW REPLACEMENT PARTS AND INSTALLED THEM FOR A FRACTION OF THE PRICE QUOTED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF A POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL FIRE.

The left rear turn signal stopped working. Along with the left brake light. Currently getting the part fixed that is causing the issue. Part is being melted by something. Yes there has been warning lamps and messages.

I RECEIVED DASHBOARD WARNINGS THAT MY LEFT REAR BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN SIGNAL WERE NOT WORKING. THIS WARNINGS WERE INTERMITTENT. I CHANGED THE BULBS, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I THEN LOOKED AND THE CONNECTOR TO THE LIGHT HOUSING AND SAW THAT PIN #3 HAD MELTED/CORRODED. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR, AND THAT ON A PREVIOUS MODEL YEAR, THERE WAS A RECALL . THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY A DESIGN DEFECT AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY BMW. THE CONSUMER COST IS IN THE HIGH HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. WAS GETTING WARNINGS ABOUT LEFT REAR BRAKE AND TURN LIGHTS MALFUNCTIONING FOR MONTHS THAT WOULD TURN ON AND THEN GO AWAY. ON CHRISTMAS DAY THE BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN LIGHT FOR LEFT REAR CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I WENT AND BOUGHT BULBS TO REPLACE THEM SINCE AT THAT POINT THE LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER WORKING (INSTEAD OF A WARNING THAT WOULD COME ON THEN GO RIGHT BACK OFF ONCE THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED OR LEFT TURN SIGNAL WAS USED). I TOOK THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY OFF TO REPLACE THE BULBS AND ONCE I DISCONNECTED THE WIRING HARNESS I DISCOVERED THAT THE GROUND PIN WAS MELTED OFF THE TAIL LIGHT SIDE OF THE CONNECTOR AND STUCK INTO THE WIRING HARNESSES. I HAVE NEVER MADE AN NHTSA COMPLAINT BEFORE, BUT FELT THIS WAS DANGEROUS BETWEEN THE FACT THAT 1 IT PULLED ENOUGH CURRENT TO MELT THE WIRING PIN INTO THE HARNESS AND 2 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND LOST REAR BRAKE TAIL AND TURN LIGHTS ON THE LEFT SIDE.

I went to Lakeland bmw, for my recall, they only put a shield up for the recall instead of changing out my water pump which was draining my battery. Now they are trying to charge me for a whole water pump installation even after I informed them that it was supposed to be changed out when I came in for a the recall due too it causing a battery drain.

The engine coolant pump is affected in my vehicle. There is a current recall issued on my vehicle with no available remedy. The recall was issued back in August, which means it has been 6 months. This is my form of transportation to work and also to school. I have contacted my local dealership and they are not sure when they will get the part in. They want me to pay $195 per hour for a diagnostic first to see if they can expedite the part needed. With this being said they will not offer me a loaner vehicle and says I am responsible for my own form a transportation. I was driving my vehicle on February 11th around 5:45PM when my vehicle suddenly stopped in the middle of a roundabout. I yielded oncoming traffic, thankfully I was able to shift over into the grass in time before anyone else entered the roundabout. My check engine light came on and it started to overheat, which I have never had that issue since the recall was issued. It started smoking from under my hood so I let it cool before I attempted to drive it again to return home. The following day I was able to start my vehicle up and I took it to Take 5 to get an oil change and a coolant flush thinking that may be the issue. The mechanic advised me since the coolant they use is standard coolant and I need premium he would not perform it. He ran my codes and the issue that popped up was the current recall on my vehicle. This is the first time I have experienced any issues since the recall has been issued. I am now left with a vehicle that is not able to be driven.

The contact owns a 2014 BMW 328I. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to start and was idling rough. Additionally, the contact stated that while starting the vehicle and while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. The low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer and to several independent mechanics, where the valve cover gasket, the serpentine belt, the oil pressure sensor, and other unknown parts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the timing chain, the oil pump, the drive chain, and the oil pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: SIB 11 03 17; however, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer and to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 176,000.

The sunroof of my 2014 BMW 328i sedan exploded while driving on a highway at 75mph. The explosion sounded like a gunshot or a truck tire exploding. Thankfully I kept control of the car and the pull shield was closed preventing a majority of the glass from raining down on me and my passenger. We did pull over to the side of the highway were a witness described the glass as exploding up and sliding down the back of the car. Glass was found in the trunk crevasse of the car and inside the vehicle. Next, we proceeded to a safe location off the freeway and found the sunroof glass to have a hole in the center. The remaining glass was protruding upwards in a convex shape. To note, I did not have cars in front me during the explosion so no direct impact from a rock or other debris. My dealership has the car for inspection and repair. A claim with my insurance has been submitted. My car had a comprehensive service in May of 2022.

INSTEAD I HAVE TO PRESS THE CENTRAL UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD (AN ELECTRICAL MECHANISM) TO UNLOCK THE DOOR PRIOR TO BEING ABLE TO OPEN IT WITH THE DOOR HANDLE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AND IS A MASSIVE SAFETY RISK - E.G. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THE DRIVER MIGHT BE UNABLE TO EXIT THE CAR.

2014 BMW 328i Xdrive, 62K miles. Routine oil change and filter change serviced at BMW dealership Feb 2022. March 2022 (<30 days later), suffered catastrophic engine failure related to camshaft oil starvation and sudden loss of power while driving on highway at 60 mph. Dealership investigation unable to determine the cause, ruled out N20 timing chain and oil pump chain issues. Neither BMW NA nor dealership would stand behind engine failure - BMW NA stated the "car is too old." Full engine replacement completed at the expense of the customer ($11K). Very disappointing that an engine would suffer catastrophic failure related to oil starvation within one month of dealership oil service with multi-point inspection. BMW F30 N20 engines have numerous reports of failures.

Mid-mounted Dash/Display Screen has Delaminated, rendering “rear backup camera display” unusable. Delaminating has progressed over time, rendering screen virtually unusable. Since the camera display is unusable, there is immediate danger that the driver might not see an object immediately behind the vehicle, such as a child, and back into/over, causing injury or death. Note: while watching a YouTube video of ANOTHER BMW vehicle, the same phenomenon, mid-mounted (a BMW i8) display delaminated, was shown, meaning this is NOT unique to my vehicle.

For several months, intermittent warnings indicated a malfunction in these lights. On New Years, the warnings ceased to be intermittent, and the lights failed completely. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the ground pin within the wiring harness had melted off the tail light connector and fused into the harness itself. The melting of a wiring pin is a critical issue that indicates an electrical fault, likely due to excessive current or resistance, and presents a serious safety risk. The fact that a core safety feature of the vehicle—the brake and turn lights—failed completely due to this issue is a significant concern. This type of malfunction can lead to a rear-end collision, as drivers behind the vehicle would not be properly alerted to braking or turning maneuvers. This situation is not merely an inconvenience but a potential public health and safety hazard. The failure of vehicle safety components, particularly those responsible for signaling, directly increases the risk of motor vehicle accidents, which are a leading cause of injury and death. NHTSA is responsible for ensuring vehicle safety, and the failure of vehicle lighting systems due to a manufacturing or design defect is a violation of these standards and a common factor in accidents (FHA, 2025). this specific issue with my BMW 328i is not an isolated incident. Left rear brake and turn lights malfunctioning -issue not fixed after changing light bulbs. Noticed that metal pins in the connector was melted and stuck into the wiring harness. Problem affects brake light and turn signal. Melting of the the metal pin in the connector housing clearly is not a wear and tear situation but a defect in manufacturing that needs to be repaired and corrected by BMW.

Tire Size: 225/50RF17 Tire Type: Bridgestone Driveguard While driving my car southbound on I225 through Aurora, CO on 5/19/2023, I received an indication of a low right front tire. As I have received this warning when the tire pressure varies due to weather, I proceeded home. When I arrived home in Englewood, CO, I immediately inflated the tire to its proper pressure. After shutting down the compressor, I heard a hiss coming from the tire and found a gash near the rim. The errand that I ran on that day took me from home to I70 and Chambers and back home. At no time during this trip did I recall hitting a pothole or curb that would have caused this. Could it have been from a previous incident? Possibly, but when I took my car to Coloradoland Tire & Service at 6600 S. Quebec, Centennial, CO, the service advisor informed me that another customer had a similar problem (name can be provided upon request) with the same type of tire. Is there a problem with these tires?

I HAVE HAD 5 BLOWOUTS AND 1 TIRE HAS A BUBBLE(ABOUT TO BLOW OUT) IN 13 MONTHS. I HAVE 2 SETS OF WHEELS. THE BRIDGESTONE DRIVEGUARD TIRES HAVE HAD ALL OF THE PROBLEMS. NOT ONE PROBLEM WITH MY MICHELINS. I DRIVE ON THE SAME ROADS WITH BOTH SETS. THE SIDEWALLS ARE EXTREMELY WEAK ON THE BRIDGESTONE. IN 26 YEARS OF DRIVING, THESE ARE THE ONLY TIRES THAT I HAVE GOTTEN A BLOWOUT WITH, AND 5 IN ONE YEAR.

ENGINE COOLANT PUMP: The electrical connector of the engine coolant pump could become damaged. Small drops of liquid from the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system could drip down onto the electrical connector of the pump. Safety Risk Over time, this could lead to a short circuit and, in rare cases, a thermal event or a fire. We took it to a car shop and they charged us over $800 fixing something else that was not the issue. We haven’t been able to drive this car for months and it has caused tremendous inconveniences.

I was rear-ended during a traffic slowdown in freeway, while driving my 2014 BMW 328i sedan. Due to the collision, my vehicle’s safety system got invoked, which made the gear automatically go into neutral and the flashers turned on. However, my seatbelt (driver, left-front seat) unbuckled automatically. This caused me to hit the steering wheel during the accident. I didn’t suffer major injury as I had slowed down to less than 20 mph, while the vehicle hit me in the rear (which had also slowed, though didn’t stop on time/didn’t have the distance, and hence the collision). After the collision, when I checked, the socket from which the seatbelt is pulled had got loose, and the belt had a double fold in the buckle, and so it got stuck. It didn’t rollback to its place.

I went to park my mom's car. Tapped the brakes, moved up a little, tapped the brakes again-the brakes gave out and the car lunged forward at a high speed. The only reason I stopped was because a metal fence stopped me. Earlier in the day the car switched modes by itself from Sport to Economy. This is the 2nd time this has happened in this car. The first time my mom was parking in her driveway and the brakes gave out and the car lunged into her garage. This car is not safe.

the left brake lamp continues to come on after changing the brake lamp and checking sensor - I dont know if the light is out or its another issue the brake lamp has been working fine , the warning is incorrect Also , the added safety features installed in the car and paid 1000's extra for no longer work due 3g phase out , Bmw claimed drivers can use their phones but they will not retro fit the cars to get safety features back , they chose specific vins of this model to re-enable but not all??? The car has no space within drivers sight to mount phones for directions/navigation and any voice activation /handfree usage iis disabled along with crash notificatiions/stolen vehicle recovery . BMW made crashes far more likely in the vehicle and far more vulnerable to be stolen! BMW service dept advised to use a cell phone to get some of the lost services back which is illegal and very dangerous to do so.

While approaching a stop light I noticed that it was much harder to stop than expected. As I let up on the brake a little I started accelerating towards the car in front of me. I reapplied the brakes much hard and was able to stop the vehicle but I could tell that I was fighting the engine. I put the car into park and the engine raced up to about 4.5k. I then just hit the off button and put my hazards on. After a few seconds, I turned the car back on and the engine behaved as expected. I drove off without incident.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the fuel feed pump and high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The technician informed the contact that the fuel pump failed to provide the correct fuel level in the tank. No dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 76,802

AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN TWO RECALLS FOR THIS VERY SAME ISSUE, BUT FOR OLDER MODEL BMW'S. PLEASE REFERENCE 13V407000 AND 17V6766000. BMW ALSO ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO FIX THIS ISSUE. PLEASE REFERENCE SIB63-0611. ALSO REFERENCE 11V-438 CAMPAIGN. IT IS APPARENT THAT BMW'S ARE STILL BEING PRODUCED WITH THE GROUND WIRING ISSUE. IF YOU VISIT BIMMERFEST, YOU WILL SEE HOW MANY BMW'S FROM 2010- 2014 ARE STILL BEING EFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE. ON MANY BMW FORMS THERE ARE MULTIPLE OWNERS WHO SAY THEY HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING RACK, STEERING ASSEMBLY AND IT WILL FIX IT FOR THE TIME BEING BUT IT WILL EVENTUALLY DEFAULT AGAIN. WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL YOU'LL HEAR A CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE THAT SOUNDS AS IF THE FRONT AXLE IS GOING TO REMOVE ITS SELF FROM YOUR PRESENCE. TO HAVE THIS FACTORY PROBLEM FIXED IS UPWARDS OF 2,000$, THAT OWNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BECAUSE IT IS A PROBLEM WITH ALMOST EVERY BMW. I USED VERY LITTLE GAS, NOT NECESSARY OF COURSE. BMW ENGINEERS EXAMINED IT AND FOUND NO ERROR ACCORDING TO THEIR THREE STANDARD TESTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THEIR TESTS "MAY NOT RECORD SOMETHING," "COULD NOT DUPLICATE MY CONCERNS," AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE "A MORE SEVERE IMPACT TO RECORD SOMETHING." NOTHING COULD BE TESTED OR RECORDED FOR SPEEDS UNDER 35 MILES PER HOUR. I GOT A CONCUSSION AND THE INCIDENT COST $ 17,000 (PLUS LOSS OF CAR VALUE). BMW DID NOTHING FOR ME SO I AM OUT OF A BMW FOR GOOD. I HAD JUST PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO PULL BACK INTO THE PARKING SPACE I WAS IN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE IN THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A DIAGNOSTIC CODE FOR THE DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY 2014 BMW 328I WAS REAR-ENDED ON A FREEWAY RAMP DURING RUSH HOUR (AROUND 5PM OCT. 30, 2015). THE TRAFFIC WAS STOP AND GO. MY CAR WAS STILL WHEN THE CAR BEHIND HIT. THE IMPACT TO MY REAR BUMPER CAUSED THE SEAT BELT TO LOCK DOWN. THE SEAT BELT HELD ME VERY TIGHT (ALMOST STRANGLED) ME AND WOULD NOT EJECT NOR RELEASE. AFTER MORE THAN 5 MINS, I WAS ABLE TO PULLED IT OUT WHILE HOLDING THE EJECT BUTTON. ON TOP OF THE SEAT BELT LOCK-DOWN, MY CAR WOULD NOT RE-START. THE SYSTEM GAVE A "CHASSIS STABILITY" WARNING AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO SHIFTING GEAR OR ANY OPERATIONS. I COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR EVENTUALLY WAS TOWED OFF THE FREEWAY RAMP. FORTUNATELY, ALL VEHICLES WERE MOVING SLOW DUE TO THE RUSH HOUR. OTHERWISE, EITHER OF THE SITUATION (LOCKED DOWN SEAT BELT OR THE STALLED VEHICLE WITH A BUMPER IMPACT) WOULD HAVE KILLED ME ON THE FREE WAY.

ON INTERSTATE 10, DURING THE ACCELERATION, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY LOST ITS POWER. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER BEFORE I LOST THE MOMENTUM.THE CA HIGHWAY PATROL PUSHED ME TO A SAFE PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS ALMOST 20 DAYS AFTER AGAIN DURING THE ACCELERATION ON FREEWAY AT THE SPEED OF 70, THE ENGINE LOST ITS POWER IN A WAY THAT THE CAR DID NOT PROCEED FOR A WHILE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT IT WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH ENGINE BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT READ ANY ERROR IN THE SYSTEM AND II HAD TO WAIT TILL I RECEIVE AN ERROR ON THE LCD. I NOTIFIED THEM THAT IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM SPECIFICALLY ON THE FREEWAY BECAUSE LOSS OF POWER CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, BUT TO NO AVAIL. *TR

JUST AFTER GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, I GOT AN WARNING MESSAGE THAT READ - "CHASSIS: DRIVE MODERATELY. CONSULT SERVICE CENTER." THIS IS THE 3RD TIME I GOT THIS WARNING. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR SERVICE THE PAST 2 TIMES. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A GOOD ANSWER FROM THE DEALER AS TO WHAT PROBLEMS THIS MIGHT CAUSE. I WAS ABOUT TO PARK IN A CUL-DE-SAC GOING ABOUT 5 MPH, WHILE I WAS HALF WAY THROUGH THE CUL-DE-SAC THE BMW 328D HAD A SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND IN A VERY HIGH SPEED CRASHED INTO A TREE. I DO NOT RECALL THE EXACT SPEED WHEN IT CRASHED BUT IT WAS VERY HIGH, IT FELT AND SOUNDED LIKE A RACE CAR. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK RIGHT WHEN IT ACCELERATED. ONE OF THE REAR RIDE HEIGHT SENSORS CONTROLLING THE ADAPTIVE XENON HEADLIGHTS FAILED (BOLT BROKE). THIS CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS TO AIM DOWN AT THE LIMIT OF THEIR ADJUSTMENT, EFFECTIVELY GIVING THE DRIVER ONLY 20 OR SO FEET OF VISIBILITY AT NIGHT. WE HAD TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS TO GET ANY REASONABLY VISIBILITY TO DRIVE SAFELY. *TR
