The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the passenger’s side air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but became persistent whenever the vehicle was started. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact had researched and related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin Number: 10148018 - Front Passenger Air Bag Seat Occupancy Sensor (OC3) Mat (Air Bags). The contact was informed by the dealer and the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the front passenger’s side air bag sensor warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed front passenger’s side occupancy sensor. The contact was informed that the front passenger’s side occupancy sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

ON 2/5/2016, BMW ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIR BAG (RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. 16V-071). I WASN'T EVEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL! I HAPPENED TO SEE THIS OPEN RECALL IN JULY 2017 AFTER I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE REAR DRIVESHAFT CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT (RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. 17V-067). IT TOOK ALMOST 2 YEARS FOR THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG RECALL TO BE FIXED (IT WAS FINALLY MADE AVAILABLE TO ME IN DECEMBER 2017). WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF GETTING THE DRIVER'S SIDE FIXED, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SEAT SENSOR MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE! I'VE SPOKEN TO BMW'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT & AUTHORIZED BMW MECHANICS REGARDING THE AIR BAG SENSOR MAT FAILING & WAS TOLD IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THAT IT WAS SO COMMON, THE WAITING LIST TO REPLACE/FIX THE MALFUNCTION WILL TAKE 1-2 YEARS (OR LONGER). THIS MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN RECALLED ON PREVIOUS BMW MODELS'THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED ON 2011 BMW'S AS IT IS STILL A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!

I was in the middle of driving on the freeway and my motor started to get loss in power. Moments later a malfunction engine sign popped up. The codes I was able to pull from the vehicle were pointing towards a recall that already exists for BMW but for some reason my vehicle was not a part of the recall. The recall I am reffering to is 23V707000. It shows that there are 11 open recalls for 2011 335i including the vanos bolt recall. I called the dealer and according to my VIN, the vanos bolt recall is not covered. There are multiple reports online where the dealer is refusing to cover the recall for vehicles within a certain production date. There is clearly a safety issue going on as this has happened to plenty of people. Someone with the same motor as I could get covered for the recall due to the production date and I am in a position where BMW knows that this is an issue but will not cover it.

2011 BMW 335i COUPE E92 My vehicle has broken vanos bolts which caused the engine to shut off while driving. This was a terrifying experience in which i was on the freeway doing around 70mph and lost power steering and power brakes. This is a known recall with these vehicles and my vehicle fits the criteria for BMW Recall 23V-707, including year, make, model, production date and engine. My vin does not show up as a recalled vin and the dealer refuses to fix my vehicle for that reason although it is confirmed the vanos bolts have snapped.

Without any warning, the vehicle experienced a major engine failure while I was driving at about 70 mph on the highway. The vehicle immediately lost power and went into limp mode, making it impossible to safely maintain speed on a busy highway. Vehicle was towed to the dealership and it was determined that it had experienced a VANOS bolts failure on the intake side. Inspection of the failed VANOS bolts revealed that they were of the old design that BMW had issued a Recall for. Even though the Recall status for the vehicle in regard to the VANOS bolts indicates that it was completed, it appears the wrong components had been used in the repair. I have been informed that BMW has denied my request to have the recall done properly with the proper components.

I had just parked and about a minute later, there was a huge amount of smoke coming through the front cabin vents and hood. I immediately turned my car off and opened the hood to find more smoke and hearing popping sounds coming from my catalytic converter. The smoke left residue all over my windshield as well as an unpleasant smell lingering in the car. I emailed my local mechanic and he told me this is likely my PCV and not a VCG leak like I thought it was. This problem had scared me from driving my vehicle again because I was worried a fire would start whether I was in the vehicle or not. I took it to my mechanic to get it repaired and was charged $1700 for it. I had no lights or unusual car prior to this happening

Fuel sending unit has broken and began to expel fuel out upwards within the rear bottom of the back seat were the sending unit is located. The plastic that ensembles the gas sending unit itself cracks over a certain period amount of time and causes gasoline to spray in that area. Gas has began to accumulate outside the gas tank right above the sending unit part, which causes harmful and incredibly strong gasoline odor inside the car and outside the car, predominantly on the back seat of the driver area. Very dangerous for even a small amount of fire to be near it. The problem cause a harmful and overwhelming amount of dangerous gasoline fumes to tolerate breathing near that area or the car itself.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 335I. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, "VEHICLE OPERATING AT REDUCED POWER LEVEL" DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

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

MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THAT BMW HAD A RECALL FOR ENGINES N54. I'M HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS THE N54, MY ENGINE IS THE N55. MY CAR IS NOT USABLE AND BMW DOES NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS IS ON MY N55 ENGINE. BMW CLEARLY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE MANUFACTURING OF THESE HIGH PRESSURE PUMPS WERE BAD THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL DONE FOR THE N55. WHAT I AM LOOKING IS FOR BMW TO COVER THIS ISSUE.

WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS, AND TURNING, CERTAIN SYSTEM SOMETIMES LOSE POWER (E.G., RADIO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHILE RAINING, STABILITY CONTROL, STABLE BRAKING, CENTER CONSOLE, HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT). LOSS OF STABILITY CONTROL AND LOSS OF STABLE BRAKING MESSAGES APPEAR QUITE FREQUENTLY THEN GO AWAY SEVERAL MINUTES LATER. OTHER MESSAGES FOR LOSS OF OTHER SYSTEMS ALSO APPEAR SOMETIMES. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT OCCURS WHEN AT ANY SPEED CONSTANT OR OTHERWISE. THESE INTERMITTENT FAILURES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 81K MILES. PERTAINING TO NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 17V676 THAT WAS ISSUED IN OCTOBER OF 2017, I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE IN DECEMBER TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE RECALL BUT WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE CHECKING ITS WEBSITE FOR STATUS AND THE REP COULD NOT PROVIDE A TIMEFRAME AS TO WHEN I CAN BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WE ARE NOW AT THE END OF JANUARY, MORE THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL WAS ISSUED AND STILL NO ETA AS TO WHEN A FIX WILL BE AVAILABLE. WHEN THERE'S A SAFETY RISK INVOLVED, I'M NOT SURE WHY THERE WAS NOT AN URGENCY BEING PLACED ON THIS RECALL FROM BMW.

Transmission failure, while driving 45mph the car automatically downshifted then stopped pulling rolled to a complete stop was able to put into park turn car off then when tried to restart that is when the transmission failure light and notice came on the dash and radio screen. After that the car would not go into any gear or pull in any gear. No warning signs appeared before the incident.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the "Loss of Oil Pressure" message displayed, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle made an abnormally loud clunking sound. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact used an OBD scanner to retrieve a diagnostic trouble code for the VANOS bolts; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335I. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for repair, he was informed that the camshaft bolts were damaged and required replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Colling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 130,000.

I BOUGHT THIS 2011 BMW 335D USED IN APRIL OF 2014 WITH ONLY 18,500 MILES ON IT. THIS CAR RUNS ON DIESEL. AS SOON AS I STARTED DRIVING THE CAR ON THE DAILY BASIS I NOTICED A SMELL OF SULFUR OR EXHAUST INSIDE THE CABIN. EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND ESPECIALLY WHEN I ACCELERATE I CAN SMELL IT WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED. IT NEVER GOES AWAY AND IS VERY DISTINCTIVE IN ITS NATURE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND AND FIXED SOME OIL LEAK BUT IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITH THE SMELL. I THINK THE SMELL COULD HAVE A LONG-TERM NEGATIVE EFFECT ON MY HEALTH AND I THINK BMW MUST RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM. hard to explain. looks like my NIV is ''bad''. There are 11 recalls on BMW 335xi Sedan 2011 and mine has 0 (same car, BUT special limited edition). For now, BMW is of no help at all, they follow their procedure which do not include my NIV in any way $$$. What to do next?

FRONT PASSENGER INSIDE DOOR HANDLE STARTS TO MELT DURING ANY HOT CONDITION. ONCE MELTING DETERIORATION STARTS, DOOR HANDLE GETS EXTREMELY STICKY AND SOFT (LEAVES A LOT OF UNKNOWN RESIDUE ON ANY PASSENGER HAND) TO ANY HAND TOUCH DURING ANY WEATHER CONDITION (COLD/HOT). DOOR HANDLE UNKNOWN COMPONENTS ARE TOUCHED BY PASSENGERS AND CAN BE UNSAFE IF A KID UNDER 18 EATS THE DOOR HANDLE UNKNOWN COMPONENT'S WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN PARALLEL PARKING THIS 335I THE CAR WILL LUNGE OR SURGE WITH UP TO A 50 PERCENT INCREASE OF ENGINE POWER WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED TO EITHER EXTREME OF TRAVEL. THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED TO THE END OF TRAVEL TO OBTAIN MINIMUM TURNING RADIUS. THIS LUNGING MAKES THE CONTROL OF THE CAR UNCERTAIN IN THOSE TIGHT MANEUVERING SPACES THAT HAPPEN WHEN PARKING.

BMW has made their early 2011-13 engines(n55) a defective engine, the problem I’ve been experiencing with these engines is there new engine system called the valvetronic system. If the something in the valtronic system goes bad and most likely does when you listen to bmw recommendation of changing oil every 10,000 it becomes very annoying to fix and can also lead to damaging the car ecu/dme so they built a car that would have problems and would also take out your car ecu which would make costly repairs

2011 BMW 335i Sedan: Please attempt to get my car included in the current recall. I have contacted BMW USA and my local dealership. Both said that my car does not qualify for repair. On a weekly basis, the car produces large amounts of smoke from the engine compartment and enters the passenger compartment through the vents. BMW has stated that there is a fire risk for this year, make, and model but will not address it for my car: [XXX] The check engine light turns on while engine smokes. The BMW Dealership will not inspect the car unless it appears on the recall list. In addition, occasionally, the entire electrical system dies preventing all electronics including the starter from working. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 335-I. COMMENTS: I WAS DRIVING MY ON A LONG UPHILL SECTION WITH PLENTY OF ROOM TO PASS AND I STARTED PASSING TWO CARS WHEN MY ENGINE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE CARS I WAS PASSING KINDLY STARTED TO SLOW DOWN TO LET ME MOVE PAST THEM, BUT I KEPT SLOWING DOWN AT THE SAME RATE AS THEY WERE, REMAINING SIDE BY SIDE WITH THEM, LEAVING ME NO ROOM TO MOVE BACK TO THE RIGHT AND WITH THE TRUCK COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION CLOSER AND CLOSER. EVENTUALLY I FELT I HAD NO CHOICE, AND MANAGED TO GET OFF THE ROAD ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE SO THE TRUCK COULD PASS BETWEEN THE TWO CARS AND MINE. I TRIED TO RESTART MY CAR. IT DID START ALBEIT WITH THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION ? REDUCED POWER LIGHT ON. THE RECURRED THE NEXT DAY I DROVE MY CAR TO BMW OF DARIEN WHICH TOLD ME THAT FOR THE THIRD TIME (TWICE ON MY PREVIOUS 2008 335IS CONVERTIBLE) THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED. THEN I RECEIVED RECALL NO. 13V-044: POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM ABOUT A POTENTIAL FAILURE OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RESULTING IN ENGINE STALLING, BUT COULD NOT EVER GET AN ANSWER FROM BMW WHETHER THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE STALLS WITH MY CAR WAS REALLY THE FUEL PUMP. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS DANGEROUS ENGINE FAILURE FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY EVASIVE. ONE GENTLEMAN CALLED ME ONCE ON MY CELLPHONE, NOT ON THE PHONE NUMBER I HAD PROVIDED. I CALLED THEM AND WROTE TO THEM MULTIPLE TIMES. MONDAY MORNING PULLED THE CAR OFF THE GARAGE AND NOTICED THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE LIGHT WAS ON. THOUGHT IT WAS A NAIL IN THE TIRE AND STOPPED AT NTB TO FIX IT. AFTER TAKING THE WHEEL OFF THE CAR, THE MECHANIC CALLED ME AND INDICATED THAT THE RIM WAS CRACKED AND THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY SO CALLED BMW AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOOK THE TIRE OFF THE RIM AND MADE PICTURES, HOWEVER THEY KEPT A NEUTRAL TONE SAYING THAT BMW DOES NOT COVER WHEELS AND TIRES UNDER WARRANTY, MOSTLY BECAUSE I PROBABLY HIT A POTHOLE. THE WHEEL HAS NO CURB DAMAGE AND THE CAR IS DRIVEN 50 MILES/DAY HIGHWAY. I DID NOT DAMAGE THIS WHEEL AND IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, ONE OF MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ALREADY ON THE NET. MY RIGHT REAR TIRE KEPT LEAKING AIR, SO I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A TIRE SHOP. THE TIRE SHOP FOUND OUT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE RIM MOST PROBABLY BECAUSE OF A POTHOLE, SO I THOUGHT THAT WAS POSSIBLE AND I GOT THE CRACK FIXED. EVER SINCE I HAD THIS ISSUE, I HAD BEEN DRIVING VERY CAREFULLY AND AVOIDING ANY POTHOLES. AFTER A FEW MONTHS, NOW MY LEFT REAR TIRE HAS THE SAME EXACT REASON. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON SOME ONLINE BMW FORUMS AND PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND RIM ARE REPORTING SIMILAR ISSUE. MY REAR TIRE SLOWLY STARTED TO LOSE AIR PRESSURE DURING FREEWAY COMMUTING IN LOS ANGELES AREA. SAVAGE BMW IN ONTARIO COULDN'T AT FIRST DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND SUGGESTED IT WAS A TIRE LEAK AND TO TAKE IT TO A TIRE SHOP. THE TIRE SHOP FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRE AND SAID TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER FINALLY FOUND THE PROBLEM BY DUNKING IT INTO A WATER TANK....A CRACKED RIM...CRACKED ON THE INSIDE....THIS WAS CAUSING THE AIR TO LEAK OUT MORE AND MORE AS I DROVE. IT WAS TO THE POINT THAT I WAS FILLING UP AIR EVERY DAY. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT I PROBABLY HIT A POTHOLE AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SO I FIGURED THEY WERE RIGHT AND PAID FOR THE NEW RIM. NOW SEVERAL MONTHS LATER (AND DOING VERY CAREFUL DRIVING TO ENSURE I DON'T HIT ANY POTHOLES OR ROUGH SURFACES), I FOUND THE OTHER REAR TIRE DOING THE SAME THING. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO CREVIER BMW AND TOLD THEM I SUSPECTED IT MIGHT BE CRACKED TOO. THEY RETURNED THE CAR TO ME WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS AND TOLD ME IT JUST NEEDED AIR, AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. TODAY (THE VERY NEXT DAY), I DROVE TO WORK AND MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SAID THE SAME TIRE WAS LOW. I IMMEDIATELY ADDED AIR 46 PSI PER BMW DOOR LABEL...AND GOT ON FWY TO GO HOME. WITHIN 5 MINUTES ON THE FWY, MY WHEEL WAS MAKING A HORRIBLE VIBRATION AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO COME APART. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF FWY AND GOT A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE ME BACK TO DEALER. AFTER A HEATED DEBATE WITH BMW SERVICE MANAGER, THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T PAY FOR MY TOW, NOR THE WHEEL (IF IT IS CRACKED)...AND THAT ITS DUE TO MY DRIVING HABITS. PREPOSTEROUS! I BABY MY CAR, ESPECIALLY AFTER PAYING FOR THE 1ST RIM. I AM FURIOUS THAT BMW IS IGNORING AN OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THE WHEEL DESIGN. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NIELLO BMW IN ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA WHERE THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE ASA BOLTS. IN REGARDS TO THE VEHICLE STALLING, THE COOLANT PUMP AND THE WATER PUMP WERE REPLACED. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALER FOUND A LEAK IN THE SEAL OF THE RADIATOR AND DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.

NOVEMBER 25, 2016 APPROXIMATELY 17:44 (5:44 PM EST) MY 2011 BMW 335D STALLED WHILE DRIVING. "ENGINE MALFUNCTION REDUCED POWER" ALERT WAS ON SCREEN. I WAS ABLE TO RE-START IT, AND CONTINUED ON MY WAY. THIS IS A KNOW FAULT PROBLEM THAT IS DIRECTLY TIED TO EMISSIONS OF THE DEISEL ENGINE STARTING AT 2008-2012 FOR ALL BMW DEISEL ENGINES. MAYBE EVEN NEWER MODELS. THIS SO CALLED SCR TEMPERATURE SENSOR THAT IS LOCATED INSIDE THE DEF (UREA) TANK FAILS, WHICH IN TERM FAILS THE SMOG INSPECTION IF IT IS NOT REPLACED. SOME OWNERS AND DEALERS HAVE REPLACED THIS TANK/SENSOR ( WHICH IS ONE PART TOGETHER, CANT BUY SEPARATELY) UNDER EMISSIONS WARENTY. BUT MOST DEALERS WILL DENY THE FACT THIS SYSTEM IS THE PRIMARY SYSTEM OF EMMISSION. AND IF IT'S NOT WORKING HOW INTENDED I'M SURE EMISSIONS OF THIS CAR WON'T MEETC THE FEDERAL OR STATE REQUIRMENT. I bought a BMW on November 3rd and within 48 hours on the 5th of November at 6:30 the engine seized while the car was driving when I took it to BMW they did a carfax on it, it said the car had 197,000 miles on it and the car was listed with 97,790 miles and the odometer still says 97,000 and the transmission is also slipping because it had 197,000 miles on it and the font headlights won't work.

HELLO, I WANTED TO BRING TO ATTENTION THE FAILING FOOTWELL MODULES IN E9X GENERATION BMWS. THE MODULES HAVE A HIGH FAILURE RATE AND WHEN THEY BECOME INOPERABLE YOU LOSE YOUR HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, LOCKING AND UNLOCKING DOORS, POWER WINDOW CONTROL AND THE ABILITY TO MOVE YOUR MIRRORS. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT BMW HAS HIDDEN FROM ITS CUSTOMERS AS IT IS A KNOWN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT. I RECENTLY HAD MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND WAS DECLINED AS IT HAD NOT FAILED ENOUGH. ESSENTIALLY THEY WANT ME TO HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BEFORE THE REPAIR WILL BE PERFORMED. I AM PERPLEXED THAT NHSTA ALLOWS TIRE MANUFACTURERS TO SELL TIRES WITHOUT WARRANTY. ANY MERCHANDISE SOLD TO PUBLIC HAS AT LEAST 1 YEAR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY AGAINST DEFECTS IN PARTS, MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP BUT NOT TIRES. THE ONLY PART THAT CONNECTS A VEHICLE TO A SURFACE IS A TIRE. THEREFORE, TIRES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT ON A CAR BUT YET MANUFACTURERS CAN SELL TIRES WITHOUT WARRANTING THAT THE TIRES WOULD PERFORM AS THEY ARE INTENDED EVEN WHEN THEY ARE DRIVEN A FEW MILES. BRIDGESTONE RE050A RSC RUN-FLAT TIRES DRIVEN LESS THAN 11000 MILES WITHIN LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND ONE OF THE TIRES HAD ALREADY DEVELOPED A BULGE THE SIZE OF A BANANA. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTO OF THE TIRE. THESE TIRES DO NOT HAVE A MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE OLD BUT BECAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER HAD ONE. I PURCHASED NEW PIRELLI PZERO TIRES FROM MY LOCAL BMW DEALER. THE REAR TIRES EXHIBITED INTERMITTENT AIR LOSS AND WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER BECAUSE THE DEALER BELIEVED THEY WERE DAMAGED DURING INSTALLATION. THE SECOND SET OF REAR TIRES ALSO EXHIBITED INTERMITTENT AIR LOSS. THE DEALER BELIEVED THE WHEELS WERE DAMAGED AND CAUSING THE AIR LOSS. I HAD A WHEEL SPECIALIST INSPECT THE WHEELS, AND THEY FOUND NO DEFECTS TO CAUSE AIR LOSS. THE WHEEL SPECIALIST FOUND THE TIRES TO BE DEFECTIVE AS THEY HAVE EXCESS MATERIAL AT THE BEAD THAT PREVENTS PROPER SEALING ON THE RIM. THE WHEEL SPECIALIST ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE EXCESS MATERIAL FROM ONE TIRE TO DETERMINE IF THAT WOULD IMPROVE THE PROBLEM, WHICH IT DID TO SOME EXTENT. I CALLED PIRELLI AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE PROBLEM, AND THEY STATED THEY WOULD REPLACE ONE REAR TIRE UNDER WARRANTY BUT NOT THE TIRE THAT WAS WORKED UPON BY THE WHEEL SPECIALIST. IN SUMMARY, I EXPERIENCED TWO SETS OF DEFECTIVE PIRELLI P ZERO TIRES LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH ADDITIONAL TIRES. I HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE OF THE LEAKS SEEN DURING A LEAK TEST.

NO ROCK HIT ME, IT WAS LIKE A SHOTGUN WENT OFF INSIDE MY CAR, I'M RETIRED MILITARY, A VETERANS OF ALL THE WARS/CONFLICTS FROM 89-2009 HAD MORTARS FLYING OVER MY HEAD AND PATRIOT BATTERYS TAKING OUT SCUDS OVERHEAD. IT'S A GOOD THING I DON'T HAVE PTSD, BECAUSE I COULD HAVE CAUSED A HUGE ACCIDENT AT 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE! GLASS PIECES EVERYWHERE, IN MY LAP, MOUTH AND IN THE CAR. TENSION STRUT FAILURE (DRIVER SIDE, FRONT); THIS COMPONENT CONTROLS FORE AND AFT MOTION OF THE WHEEL & TIRE. WHEN IT FAILS THE REMAINING FRONT SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE WHEEL AND TIRE IMPACT THE WHEEL WELL CAUSING VIOLENT BUCKING AND SHAKING WHICH IS WORSENED WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. MY FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES ON A SMOOTH, PAVED ROAD AT LESS THAN 55 MPH. THE CAR WAS DISABLED AND HAD TO BE TOWED. I BELIEVE THAT HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SPEEDS I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY OVERTURNED. THIS SHOULD BE A 'NEVER EVENT' IN MY OPINION.

IN 2017 MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE 91 HIGHWAY WHEN HIS FRONT DRIVER TIRE ROD BROKE OFF. BOLTS WERE MISSING BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. TIRES WENT OUT AND IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A TRAGEDY THIS HAPPENED ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. WE PAID TO HAVE THE WHEELS AND TIRES REPAIRED AND REPLACED. I PROVIDE THE RECEIPTS TO THE BMW DEALER SHIP BUT THEY WERE NEVER HONORED OR REIMBURSED. WE PAID TO HAVE WATERPUMP REPLACEMENT BECAUSE. IN JULY 2017 THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. IN NOV. 2017 THE HEATING SYSTEM WAS BLOWING COLD AIR. FEB 2018 BLOWER WAS STILL NOT WORKING, WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE (RECALLS). WE WAITED ALMOST 4 MONTHS FOR RECALLED BLOWER WAS REPLACED, WE PAID FOR THEMOSTRATE REPLACEMENT BUT STILL HAD NO HEAT. CAR WON'T START. SO WE PAID FOR THE BATTERY TO BE TESTED AND REGISTERED. SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR STARTED LEAKING COOLANT AGAIN APRIL 2018. DEFECTED WATER PUMP. APRIL 2018 ELECTRIC SYSTEM. I DROVE THE CAR TO BMW DEALERSHIPS, FOR FUEL LEAKAGE NOW THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. I CALLED BMW OF NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE 1-800-831-1117 SPOKE TO [XXX] EXTENSION [XXX]. I DESCRIBED THE LIFE THREATENING MALFUNCTION AND I ASKED HIM TO TALK TO THE ENGINEERS AND TO GET BACK TO ME ON WHETHER THIS CAN BE AVOIDED IN THE FUTURE. I WOULD FORMALLY LIKE TO REPORT A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN I HAVE REGARDING MY NEW 2011 BMW 335IS CONVERTIBLE. I HAVE A NEW BMW X3 35I. WHILE DRIVING ALONG AT A STEADY PACE, THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS FOR "BRAKE FAILURE", "ALB FAILURE" AND "DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL FAILURE" ALL CAME ON. THE CARS COMPUTER DISPLAY ALSO DISPLAYED A BRAKE AND AWD SYSTEM FAILURE AND SPECIFIED THAT THE CAR SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY AND CAREFULLY DRIVEN TO A DEALER. AFTER CAREFULLY EVALUATING THE BARKING SYSTEM, IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE BRAKES AND AWD SYSTEMS WERE FULLY FUNCTIONAL, AND THERE WAS NO FAILURE. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, AND SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE, AND THEN RE-STARTING, THE ERROR "CLEARED" AND ALL DISPLAYS WERE NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND NO PROBLEMS. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY.
