Cannot safety drive the car with the major recall on the braking system. I have slid through intersections trying to brake - thankfully no other cars were present at the time. No remedy or solution has been offered and BMW refuses to order the part or allow trade-in on the vehicle.

Recall campaign 24V-104, pertaining to the Integrated Braking system that does not meet specifications, has been open since February 12, 2024. No remedy has been offered. The significant safety risk is described in the recall notice and has not been mitigated.

Unknown. Outstanding recall on brakes that has no update on resolution. My VIN wasn't part of the initial February 2024 recall, but I purchased my vehicle in March 2024. There was no disclosure about the initial recall when I was purchasing the vehicle. It's only been since October that I was notified that my VIN is now part of this brake recall. Online searches and an email with my dealership have been no help in any updates to resolving this issue.

Dealer Braman BMW West Palm Beach Florida has voice that new lot vehicles of the same kind will have priority over the vehicles on the road. They will not check vehicle unless the system fails; this is in my opinion unacceptable and I have genuine and justifiable fear and I will not have my family drive this vehicle unless someone tells me it is safe otherwise. Breaks are noisy when stopping; furthermore, when vehicle auto-turns-on the vehicles pushes forward even when breaks are applied in a stop light or stop sign pushing you into traffic or the vehicle in front of you.

While driving northbound on [XXX] near West Greenwich, RI with my wife and two young children, the front sunroof glass of our 2024 BMW X7 spontaneously exploded at highway speed. There were no overhead structures or nearby vehicles that could have caused an impact. Conditions were slightly rainy. Approximately one week before this event, the vehicle displayed a warning that the sunroof was “not initialized.” I followed the reset procedure, and the message cleared. It’s unclear if that alert was related, but the sunroof’s failure seems more than coincidental. The explosion caused loud noise, exposure to weather, and panic inside the cabin. Fortunately, the cloth sunshade was closed and minimized glass intrusion. We pulled off the highway, documented the damage, and temporarily sealed the roof using materials from a local hardware store. BMW has not yet confirmed whether this repair will be covered under warranty. We were forced to fly home due to lack of a functioning vehicle. I am reporting this because it was a serious safety issue that could have resulted in greater harm under slightly different circumstances. Please investigate this issue further as it appears similar to other spontaneous sunroof failures reported in recent years. My car had an accident and it was hit by another car on the left side, but the camera which was assumed to record the accident, it did not. Fortunately no one get injury. But I have to pay with my insurance. BWM did not admit such fatal error. I talked to them but they said I can sue them.... 1. I went to BMW Darien, the specilist said the camera only worked when being hit by the front, but it is not true, there are 4 cameras which record 360 degree around. 2. I assumed whenever an accident happened, the camera system will be activated, but the BMW people said because the accident was not severe, then the sensors did not work. But when checking my car, the whole left side was damaged, it is not a minor hit. Thus I question how severe would it be sufficient to trigger the system. 3. I have not been to the dealer. 4. The insurance just checked the damage and send me an estimated amount to repair the car. 5. there is no message, or because I was not the driver, I did not know.

I’ve had multiple issues starting with a left tail light/left brake malfunction. Took my vehicle into Sewell Grapevine and they replaced the left taillight and module. After picking up my vehicle, I began having issues with my dash within a couple days of the repair mentioned above. The assisted parking began turning on by itself when the vehicle came to a complete stop. This happened multiple times while driving. I have multiple videos. I uploaded a screen shot. The dash also turned black. Returned my vehicle to Sewell, they said they recalibrated the rear view mirror and checked the connections. On [XXX] while driving home, the vehicle had an inability to drive sos call emergency services malfunction come up multiple times. The car lost all power and the steering wheel was trying to correct the vehicle until you lifted your foot off the gas peddle. This also happened multiple times while spring in excess of 70 mph on the freeway. As of today, Feb 26, 2025, my vehicle is currently at Sewell in Grapevine, Tx with no plan from the dealership on how to correct these issues. This is the second X7, same body style, that I have owned with serious safety issues like this. Sewell Grapevine had to buy back the first vehicle as they were unable to repair the first one. BMW replaced the brake system twice to fix the brake failure issues we had on our 2024 BMW X7. When we brought our vehicle in for the 1st brake system replacement in June 2024 at 12,000 miles, the dealership inspected tire tread depth and all tires are in green. When we brought our vehicle in for the 2nd brake system replacement in September 2024 at 15,000 miles, both rear tires tread depth became red, indicating that the rear tires need to be replaced immediately. The rear tires had excessive wear in 3 month or 3,000 miles. We did not let anyone else driving the vehicle. So, the excessive rear tire wear was not caused by driving habits, but by the bad/defect brake system BMW replaced. This bad brake system will affect use and maintenance cost of the vehicle in the future. BMW needs to take the responsibility. The dealership technician also expressed the brake concern causing excessive tire wear issue. BMW denied the replacement of the tires upon the dealership technician requested. We as customers need the help of NHTSA. Thank you very much. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I purchased a 2024 BMW X7 xDrive40i VIN: xxxxx on May 1, 2023. I am pleased with the vehicle except for a serious flaw that in addition to compromising convenience creates a potential safety hazard. The problem resides in the Driving Assistant Professional Package which deviates from the somewhat industry standard practice of allowing the driver to select a mode where the vehicle reads speed signs and/or refers to a location speed limit map. If the option is chosen, software can select the posted speed with a driver programmed offset. As an example, if the vehicle enters a 55 mph zone from a different posted speed with a driver programmed offset of -5 mph, the vehicle will automatically begin traveling at 50 mph. During my vehicle selection process, I drove an early 2023 X7 at a dealer that operated as described above. The 2024 X7 I purchased does not follow the above functionality and if the speed limit changes the driver must push a Set Switch to enable the new posted speed. As an example, if the speed limit changes from 55 mph with a driver programmed +5 mph offset, to 40 mph the vehicle will continue to travel at 60 mph in the 40 mph zone until the driver pushes the "Set" button. If the driver missed the 40 mph sign, a safety hazard could ensue as well as a speeding ticket. Virtually all other manufacturers that offer a similar option allow a mode where a new posted speed limit is adopted automatically without the need to push a switch thereby eliminating the above hazard. I would appreciate an assessment and critique of my above concerns along with any corrective action(s) deemed appropriate. Thank you for your consideration of this matter and please let me know your conclusions. I have contacted BMW several times and no explanations or the opportunity to discuss the concern has been allowed. I can provide the many emails I have sent to BMW if desired.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
2 complaints
This BMW X7 car has had a recall, with no resolution on it since Feb of 2024. I purchased my car in July 2024 and the dealer never once mentioned this to me. This is a serious issue and I do not think this was good business. It's also terrifying to think the brakes on such a heavy and fast vehicle can lock up. This is unacceptable. The cars should be taken back by dealers immediately and owners offered new vehicles which are not part of the recall that are safe.
Sep 12, 2024
Collision warning failed. Automatic emergency braking failed. Unknown if brakes were delayed or had issue stopping. I rear ended the car the in front of me, going from a stop while attempting to make a right hand turn. There were no system warnings or emergency braking applied although the car is equipped with those and many more safety features. During the accident the air bags were not deployed. So the impact was not severe but caused a combined $10,000 plus in cosmetic damage to both vehicles.

2024 X7 with 13k miles on it roughly. Have had multiple drivetrain malfunction issues that caused car to not start. Dealer first did a software update which i dont believe fixed anything. second time the issue happened they said it was due to the car battery not being charged enough. car has had multiple issues related to low charge. BMW says its due to me not taking the car on long enough drives. However the charging on the car is inconsistent and faults related to the 48volt charging system which have stated (repair required soon) 224F8F were cleared by the dealer and not investigated. Car has many times exhibited low battery issues with electronics being sporatic and unreliable. car will sometimes charge battery on short drives and other times will not charge the battery on long/normal drives. charging is inconsistent. Many people on BMW forums have had drivetrain malfunction errors [XXX] and in some cases bmw has replaced transmissions. however i believe an investigation is warranted as the dealership in my case is just clearing codes and not repairing the car. i believe there is an issue with the charging system on the car thats causing errors in other modules/sensors based on all the issues i have had with this car. i have brought the car in for at least 10 service visits. BMW continues to clear codes and not perform thorough investigation and look at history of vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
Car presents the forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning are inoperable. Errors popped up 10-20 times while driving a short distance. These are repeat errors that BMW has not fixed. As i drove the car kept alerting me that the systems were offline. They would come back online and go back offline as i drove. Car has been to dealership around 8-9 times and BMW says there is adamant that nothing is wrong with the car even though this error has been happening since I have had the car at around 1000 miles. Currently at ~13k miles now.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
1 complaint
The door lock actuator for the front driver door failed twice. The first time it failed, the car would not unlock from the outside. All other doors would unlock. I had my kids in the back of the car and I was trying to get inside the car to drive and it wouldn't open. I had to pry off the cap covering the keyhole on the door with a screwdriver and then insert the blade key and manually turn the actuator. I got this failed unlocking on video and submitted it to BMW. They claimed they could not replicate and that there was no issue with the door and gave me the car back without fixing anything. A short time later I was parked at the grocery store, this time inside the car, and the car door wouldnt open. I pulled on the inside handle and there was a lot of resistance to it. I had to yank on it pretty hard and finally the door popped open. I then tried to close the door but there was no resistance on the latch and the door would no longer close. I called BMW roadside and they instructed me to pull the handle on the outside three time and the inside three times and this would fix the door. This did not work and they had to tow the car. I had to drive the car home while holding the door closed because I needed to get to our other car and move the car seats over for my [XXX] and [XXX] . BMW currently has the car now and they said the actuator has failed and they are replacing it. BMW refused to fix the car when presented with a video of the non-functioning door latch/lock until it left the car in an unsafe manner where the car door would swing open and never close. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
The vehicle brakes have stopped working on this vehicle three times. The Integrated brake system has been worked on several times with loss of brake power happening while I have infants int he car with me several times. The BMW dealership, BMW Fort Washington in Pennsylvania, ahs failed to repair it several times despite requests. I lost braking power today and almost hit two different vehicles which I barely avoided by taking dangerous evasive action. Numerous warning lights came on inside the vehicle: 1) "Drive carefully. Brake System" 2) "Parking Brake" 3) "Reduced Driver Assistance" 4) "Recall or Technical Campaign" This is the third time this has happened. I was in less than two weeks ago and the B<W dealership assured me the vehicle was safe to drive despite the warning lights being on and the recall light being active. They told me nothing to worry about and this happened this morning. This is unacceptable.

The car is unsafe to drive due to a brake recall safety issue. The dealer instructed me to leave the vehicle and obtain my loaner car, as they do not provide this service despite the car warranty. Additionally, the electronic system turns on by itself, causing the car to turn on and off, making it unsafe to drive.

1 complaint
While driving the vehicle I received a "drivetrain malfunction" message and the vehicle engine stopped and refused to start. The vehicle message further indicated that the vehicle was not driveable to contact the service center. The vehicle has been previously serviced for this same issue and the dealer indicated it was a known issue, but there was no solution offered by the manufacturer at this time. There was no initial warning this would occur or ability to safely pull over before it occured. The event occured in the middle of the roadway while driving, and there not sufficient time to safely exit the roadway, and the immediate decrease in speed was a significant safety issue to ourselves and other vehicles on the road.

The contact owns a 2024 BMW X7. The contact stated that while using the key fob to unlock the doors, the doors failed to unlock. The contact was able to manually open the vehicle with the key. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the battery was installed backwards during the vehicle manufacturing process. Additionally, the contact stated that the interior rearview mirror housing was significantly loose. The dealer determined that both the interior rearview mirror assembly and the windshield needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V104000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. There was an unknown message regarding the brakes, stability control, and steering displayed. There was a red symbol displayed. Additionally, while driving at an unknown speed or a stop light, the brakes locked up. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on multiple occasions, where it was diagnosed and the mechanic reset the instrument panel and brakes. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted.  While driving to the same local dealer, the vehicle shut down, and the mechanics had to push the vehicle into the service department. Purchased this 2024 BMW X7M60I in March 23, since day 1 of ownership and with 100 miles on the dash the car has had massive breaking, electrical, and engine issues. Almost every safty light on the dash comes on or is always on. Car was taken to Centry West BMW over many times and many months/years. Previous to this new recall dated Feb 24 they replaced the IBC and DSC and the whole brake booster and brake system. This was completed on Oct 5th of 23. I was told that this would fix all the problems with the car. Since then the car is still having the same issues regarding the brakes, engine, and electrical. Previous to this new recall coming out BMW refused to acknowledge that this car is unsafe and unfit to drive. They assured me that it was fixed. Car was taken back in to dealership on June 14th 24 due to the same issues and more new ones appearing. The dealership once more told me that the car was safe and that they are unaware of any recalls and or issues with the car. From day 1 the vehicle would basically turn into a brick and not start and would not allow itself to be driven or towed either since once the car becomes a brick you are not able to switch the car into neutral to tow it. The car would shut down and shut off completely during driving as well almost causing many accidents. When the car shuts off completely there are no breaks or steering wheel to be able to control the car! After many services visits where they continually would not allow me to list all issues with the car on the intake paperwork during service they finally told me they do not know how to fix it. I reached out to BMW NA and asked for a buy back. I feel that BMW NA and their dealerships do not act in good faith. They know of widespread defects and safty issues and constantly try to fool their customers! This car has many issues and the break booster is just 1 of over 15 major safty issues! BMW should Buy Back all these faulty vehicles and make their customers right!

The air condition is inadequate for temperatures above 80°. Due to the inadequacy of the coldness and the speed at which the fan blows, all passengers in a fully loaded vehicle complain of excessive heat temperatures Safety is an issue if left in the vehicle for a long period of time without proper temperatures being reached for all in the vehicle. The problem has not been able to be reproduced by the local dealer, stating that everything is operating within BMW manufacturer specifications. However, the issue is KNOWN to BMW manufacturer, and BMW dealerships, that the air condition system is in adequate for temperatures above 80°. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE SPECIFIC TO THE BMW X7 MODELS. My New 2024 BMW X7 i60 having less than 7000 miles, was recently taken into the local BMW dealership for complaints of slow too cool, or an insufficiently cooling air-conditioning system. The vehicle has third row seating. After a week of keeping the vehicle and my insistence that they keep it to find the issue, the dealer stated that the air conditioning system is operating within BMW manufacturer specifications. However, further research shows that numerous customers of BMW X7 vehicles have complained to the manufacturer with no response, and the same response from dealerships when the vehicle is taken in that the vehicle is operating within manufacturer specifications.

I am writing to report a distressing incident involving my BMW X7's parking assistance system, which occurred on November 1, 2023. I believe this incident raises significant safety and consumer protection concerns and am seeking your assistance in addressing this issue with BMW of North America. On the mentioned date, while using the parking assistance feature to exit my garage, the system collided with another vehicle sliently without any prior warning while I was paying full attention to the parking view which shows the rear reality view as well as surround view to prepare to stop the parking assistant anytime. To make matters worse, it failed to stop automatically and appeared to accelerate, causing considerable damage to my BMW X7's front bumper and the rear bumper of the other vehicle. The concern arises from BMW's extensive advertising that touts the safety and reliability of its parking assistance technology is putting safety of both driver and others AT RISK. I used it with my baby onboard and the colission can risk my baby's health. BMW advertises the parking assistance can be used while driver is not in the car, the risk of collision can possibly lead to a hit into the driver or anyone pass-by. BMW declined to take any responsibility for the incident after I reported and seek compensation for the approximately $2,500 in damages caused by fraud parking assitant. Regrettably, I believe it is crucial for BMW to address this issue to avoid risking of collission by parking assistant, and provide reasonable compensation. For the 5 questions, here are more concrete summary: * The parking assistant system, as well as the sensor to detect the distance from front left bumper, seem to be not working well * Since the parking system cannot detect another car, it may hit a kid next time without any warnings nor any signs on the parking view * Not reproduced yet * Inspected by BMW dealer and BMW NA claims it's all working correctly * No prior warnings
