My 2009 CTS has 67k miles; however, on 02/24/2022 it was serviced at Les Stanford Cadillac for "Timing Chain Failure" which cost me $3,371,27. GM published service bulletin #11340C: Special Coverage Adjustment-Timing Chain Wear on 11/5/2012 that was sent to the dealerships explaining that the timing chain could wear prematurely but the document was not shared with the car owners. The make and models listed on the document includes: 2007 GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook, 2007-2009 Cadillac CTS, SRX, and STS, 2009 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Saturn. The special coverage adjustment covers the condition described for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. I sent a letter to the Cadillac Customer Service Complaint Department asking GM to pay for half of the repair bill ($1,685) but was denied stating that the special coverage had expired and that my vin number was not included in the special coverage adjustment document. At that time, I told the reviewing agent that according to my written document all service maintenance has been completed timely by the same dealership, my average car mileage is 5,600 per year so retirees will surpass the 10 years before the 120,000 miles, and GM did not capture all VIN#'s since my car has such low mileage. Therefore, the time period should be waived, and all vehicles indicated on the 11340C document should be considered for reimbursement due to GM's knowledge of the premature timing chain failure even if the vin numbers are not listed on the bulletin.

Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact about Technical Service Bulletin:10-07-30-005a (Transmission output shaft and transfer case input shearing). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

AT UNDER 90,000 MILES MY 2009 CADILLAC CTS AWD STARTED TO MAKE A THUMPING NOISE WHEN I SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. THIS HAPPENED FOR 3 DAYS. ON THE 4TH DAY I DROVE TO MY OFFICE, PARKED IN A PARKING RAMP. WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE FOR THE DAY I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO HOME, THE CAR STARTED AND MOVED INTO GEAR, BUT AS I APPROACHED THE EXIT GATE, WHICH IS ON A HILL IT, CAR ABRUPTLY MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND WOULD NO LONGER MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THERE WERE CARS LINED UP TO EXIT THE PARKING RAMP BEHIND ME. I WAS FORTUNATE TO ACT QUICKLY AND USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM ROLLING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD TO GET ASSISTANCE FROM OTHER DRIVERS AND SECURITY GUARDS TO HELP PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE RAMP EXIT LANE. WITH NO NOTICE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE I COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY AND HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. AS IT IS, I WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE ROLLED BACK INTO OTHER CARS. I CALLED THE DEALER TO REPORT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A SERVICE STATION WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACE AT A COST OF OVER $4,000.00. THERE WERE NO "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHTS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT MY MILEAGE AND USE RATE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT NO-ONE ELSE HAD EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. I FIND HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE ONLINE. AT THE PRICE I PAID FOR THIS CAR IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED ANOTHER 10 YEAR. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. A TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT DIE AT LESS THAN 100,000 MILES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS SHOWING THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNIQUE TO MY CAR. THIS HAS TO BE A FAULTY PART AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED.

The contact owns a 2009 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle was not able to start immediately. The accelerator pedal was pumped to start the vehicle. Additionally, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact related the failure to a faulty purge solenoid; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and suggested filing a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

THE REAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK EITHER WITH THE SWITCH OR FOB. ONE MUST CRAWL FROM FRONT SEAT TO REAR TO UNLOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY. PASSENGERS CANNOT ENTER REAR WITHOUT DOING SO. ALSO DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY, NOR WITH SWITCH, LEAVING CHILDREN AT RISK OF OPENING DOOR FROM INSIDE. THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS WORK BUT BOTH REAR DOOR LOCKS HAVE FAILED.

Gas leaking from above gas tank took car in for service 5/6/24. they could not duplicate issue on 5/24 engine light comes on. On 5/26/24 code indicated fuel pump issue. Several months before all of this, I would notice a strong gas smell after driving

The fuel pump is leaking gas on top of the fuel tank. I just bought the car and didn’t know about the consistent problem with second generation CTS. The problem is stated to ba a plastic elbow attached to the fuel pump that ruptures.There is a fuel smell inside while I’m driving and around the car when the car is motionless. This a fire and explosion hazmats that is common to this model year. I can see some fuel on the side of the fuel tank. From reading , I can see that GM has recalled other vehicles for the same problem. I believe that the first generation CTS was recalled and the second generation was not included. Replacing the fuel pump is a very expensive a labor intensive process and I would like to have 2009 CTS included in the recall.

NOTICED GAS SMELL COMING FROM CAR. I GOT WORRIED ONCE THE GAS SMELL BECAME A EVERYDAY THING. MECHANIC STATES A GAS LEAK IS COMING FROM THE GAS TANK AREA. DID A SEARCH ONLINE AND A LOT OF PETIOLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL.

FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY LEAKS FROM THE PLASTIC "PVC" 90 DEGREE ELBOW LOCATED ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION WILL CAUSE THE PLASTIC "PVC" ELBOW TO CRACK WHICH IN TURN LEADS TO A PERVASIVE AND DANGEROUS FUEL LEAK. THE FUEL LEAK THEN BEGINS TO PUDDLE ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK WHICH THEN FLOWS DOWN THE FUEL TANK TOWARDS EXHAUST AND EVENTUALLY THE GROUND. A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL IS PRESENT WHILE VEHICLE IS ON OR OFF. THE LEAK BECOMES GREATER AS MORE FUEL IS SENT TO THE MOTOR. THIS IS A PERVASIVE ISSUE ON MANY 2009-2015 CTS AND CTS-V VEHICLES WHICH CAN BE SEEN ON MANY MESSAGE BOARDS AND FORUMS. THIS ISSUE HAS THE HIGH POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A FIRE IN WHICH INJURY OR DEATH CAN OCCUR. IN ADDITION, THIS LEAK DOES CAUSE A FUEL SHORTAGE TO THE MOTOR AFFECTING DRIVABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. THE PIECE THAT LEAKS IS INFERIOR AND SHOULD BE REPLACED TO AVOID ISSUE. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED TO RESOLVE THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY ISSUE.

My airbag sensor on my passenger seat does not work. It cannot detect the passenger and therefore would not go off if there was an accident. I tried purchasing the item from GM by going to my local service location and was told the part is not made anymore and I cannot buy it. There is none made for my car online. I need a module to detect if a passenger is present not only for safety but to pass inspection in NJ. They offered no solution and simply told me after ten years they don’t have to make parts for a car. My problem with that is this car body style and parts is for years 2009-2014 so they should still make it for the 2014 and I could use that. During my research I have come across approximately 30 other ctsv owners that have the same issue and it’s not just a part that can be replaced with an aftermarket one because there is none being made that fit these seats. GM has an issue with lots of their cars including the ctsv generation before mine and there is recalls for that one too. How can a company sell a 500hp car to someone and not make the parts for the car anymore which could result in a serious injury or death? I cannot inspect my car and could be ticketed in my state for not having an inspection. An airbag sensor not working or not detecting a passenger is a major concern and they will not address this issue. There’s forums dedicated to this issue. I even said it’s fine I would buy it if it’s not recalled and they simply said we don’t or won’t make them anymore. I don’t know what I’m suppose to do? Not drive my car? I have tried everything and even purchasing a whole new seat and have not gotten anywhere. Part number#20903436

SERVICE AIR BAG ALERT ON DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY FROM MID-APRIL TO MAY 24, 2018. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP 5/24/18. DEALER TRACED, LOCATED & REPAIRED HIGH RESISTANCE IN RIGHT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIR GAB CIRCUIT IN SEAT CONNECTOR AT A COST OF $168. DEALER SAID THERE WERE NO OPEN CAMPAIGNS ON THE ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WE'D LIKE THE NTSB TO INVESTIGATE. AS OWNERS, WE NEVER REMOVED THE SEAT AND, SHOULD THERE HAVE BEEN A CRASH, THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG MAY NOT HAVE WORKED.

DRIVING AT NIGHT MY SON HIT ICE AND HIS CADILLAC WENT OFF THE ROAD HITTING A MAILBOX WITH A SUPPORT MADE FROM A TELEPHONE POLE, A ROW OF MAILBOXES THAT CAUSED HIS CAR TO GO AIRBORNE. THE CAR ROLLED 2 TIMES. NO AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED.THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS INTACT. THE FRONT, DRIVERS SIDE,PASSANGERS SIDE AND SUNROOF WINDOWS WERE SHATTERED. HE DIED FROM MASSIVE, MULTIPLE INJURIES.

THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CADILLAC DEALER WHO SAID THE CONNECTOR UNDER THE SEAT WAS NOT MAKING CONTACT AND THAT THE PINS IN THE CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ($600). IN MY OPINION THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT AS THE PINS IN THE CONNECTOR LOOSE CONTACT AS A RESULT OF THE SEAT MOVING BACK AND FORTH FOR DIFFERENT DRIVERS AS WELL AS DRIVER CONFORT. I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE THE PROBLEM WILL NOT REAPPEAR AND THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THAT THE AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY PROPERLY. I ASKED THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER TO REACH OUT TO THE GENERAL MOTORS REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER, WHICH HE SAID HE DID AND THE REPLY WAS THAT CADILLAC WOULD NOT GET INVOLVED IN THIS REPAIR.

To whom it may concern, My name is [XXX] . I am writing this correspondence with regard to a purchase of a 2009 Cadillac CTS . I purchased the vehicle for my mother in Missouri December 2022. I reside in California and had the vehicle shipped to California when my mother relocated to California. The vehicle had not been driven frequently. In September of 2024, my mother was driving on the freeway when she heard what sounded like metal hitting the underside of the car. My mother stopped twice on the freeway and contacted me to inform of the sound. I asked my mom if she was close to our residence, and she stated that she was close. I advised that she attempt to drive slowly home. My mom made her way to the residence, pulled into the driveway, and the vehicle accelerated with no prompting on the gas through my residence. I contacted General Motors to inform of the concern. GM sent out a representative who has determined the accident was intentional citing my mother hit the gas pedal. This incident has caused medical concerns with my mother. She has had to seek medical care on an ongoing basis (with her legs swelling, constant headaches, back concerns, and etc.). I am writing because I was not made aware by GM there had been a recall, and other individuals were experiencing the same concerns with this particular vehicle. GM claimed the issue with the recall of this vehicle had been rectified, but failed to give a date of the repair. I am writing this with concerns to prevent other individuals experiencing the same mishap with this vehicle, to prevent others from harm or worse. I OWN A 2009 CADILLAC CTS, WITH APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO MY CADILLAC DEALER. I WAS TOLD MY TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED, LOOSE OR NEEDS ADJUSTMENT. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $1800. UPON RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THERE WAS SUPPOSEDLY A SPECIAL WARRANTY ON THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM. I CALLED THE CADILLAC DEALER, GAVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER AND WAS TOLD, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. I WAS VERY SKEPTICAL AND DID NOT BELIEVE THAT I WAS GETTING ACCURATE INFORMATION. I WANT TO DOCUMENT THIS NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH MY VEHICLE. IT COST ME $1280 TO REPAIR. THE CADILLAC TECHNICIAN TOLD ME I COULD DRIVE IT WITH NO PROBLEMS. COMMON SENSE SAYS OTHERWISE!

I HAVE FOUND SOME RECALLS FOR THIS CAR BY VIN.#, BUT WHEN I ENTER IT IN GM RECALL SITE, THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALLS. MITCHELL AND ALL DATA REPORTED A PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE, NO DEPLOYMENT PROBLEM. HEATED WINDSHIELD WASHER MODULE CAN CAUSE A POSSIBLE FIRE. REAR TIE ROD NUT CAN COME LOOSE AND CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.

FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILS TO OPEN FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, FIRST INTERMITTENTLY, THEN CONSTANTLY. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, DEALER SAID IT WAS A FAULTY DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR, AND THAT EVENTUALLY, THE DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN EITHER FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I'D LIKE THE NTSB TO INVESTIGATE. DEALER SAID THERE WERE NO CAMPAIGNS ON THE ISSUE. THE CAR IS GARAGED 100% OF THE TIME WHEN NOT BEING DRIVEN. IT HAD 37,367 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN INSPECTED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR NOT OPENING. DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST $576 TO REPAIR.

JUST LIKE MANY OTHER GM'S THE STEERING WHEEL WILL STICK WHILE DRIVING AND RELEASE IN ONE DIRECTION OF THE OTHER. IT HAS CAUSED US ALMOST TO HAVE A HEAD ON COLLISION. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP 2 AND THEY HAVE NO REMEDY FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY COULD CHANGE THE STEERING COLUMN BUT CAN'T GUARANTEE IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. THEY HAVE TEST DRIVE AND HAVE DUPLICATED THE SAME LOCKING AND STICKING WHILE DRIVING. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AND THE GM DEALER HAS NO DIAGNOSIS TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OVER NORMAL BUMPS (BRIDGE SEAMS, R.R TRACKS, HIGHWAY CONCRETE EXPANSION JOINTS) THE CAR PERFORMS AN UNCOMMANDED TURN TO THE RIGHT, THE STEERING WHEEL IS QUICKLY TURNED TO THE LEFT BY DRIVER, FOLLOWED BY THE STEERING WHEEL POINTING (UP TO) APPROX. 30-45 DEGREES TO THE LEFT WHILE THE VEHICLE GOES STRAIGHT. SOMETIMES "STABILITRAK OFF" MESSAGE SHOWS ON THE DASH THEN THE STABILITRAK LIGHT COMES ON, SOMETIMES NO DASH WARNINGS COME ON AT ALL. SOMETIMES THE AMOUNT OF STEERING WHEEL MISALIGNMENT IS A LITTLE, THEN A LITTLE MORE, AND CAN BE SMALLER AMOUNTS DEPENDING ON THE BUMPS. IF THE VEHICLE IS SHUTDOWN, THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED, AND THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED, EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT AGAIN. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT HAD BEEN DETERMINED THAT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT MANUFACTURED IN A SPECIFIC PLANT, IT WAS NOT INCLUDED. I WAS TRYING TO ADJUST THE SEAT BELT CLIP (MALE PART) ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SEAT BELT. THE CLIP WAS TURNED THE WRONG WAY ON THE SEAT BELT. WHILE TRYING TO ADJUST THE CLIP THE LOWER PART OF THE SEAT BELT CAME APART FROM ITS ANCHOR. I WAS STUNNED AT HOW EASILY THE SEAT BELT DETACHED. I CAME TO THE CONCLUSION AFTER INSPECTING THE BELT THAT THERE WAS NO STITCHING IN THE BELT WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SEWN TOGETHER. IT LOOKS LIKE THE MACHINE THAT ATTEMPTED TO SEW THE SEAT BELT HAD NO THREAD IN IT. THE HOLE MARKS AND SEWING PATTERN ARE THERE BUT WITH NO THREAD. NOTE: I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE CAR. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A FAMILY FRIEND WHO IS A MIDDLE AGED SINGLE PERSON. I DOUBT THE SEAT BELT HAD EVER BEEN USED BY A REAR-SEAT PASSENGER.

I PURCHASED A 2009 CADILLAC CTS4, I JUST RECENTLY HAD A TIRE BLOW OUT DUE TO ROAD HAZARD WHICH MADE THE TIRE NOT REPAIRABLE. I AM FINDING THAT THE NEWER VEHICLES WITH THE LED TAIL LIGHTS ARE VERY DISTRACTING. WHEN FOLLOWING THESE CARS AND MOVING MY EYES FROM SIDE TO SIDE THE PWM SWITCHING FREQUENCY CAUSES ME TO SEE A STROBING EFFECT. THIS SEEMS TO BE WORSE ON THE CADILLAC'S WITH THE LARGER TAIL LIGHTS. Severe and sudden malfunction of the ABS/Stabilitrak system at 45MPH causing loss of directional control of the vehicle. Failure caused by disintegration/cracking of ABS/HUB RELUCTOR RINGS, feeding incorrect wheel speeds to stability system. This failure caused a total loss of power, vehicle veering right despite full left steering input, ABS activation continuously (increasing stopping distance). Vehicle exited road due to loss of control.

The all wheel drive link is not working. This causes the stabilitrac and abs to go out leaving only rear wheel drive. With very little weight in the rear of the car, it is very difficult to drive in snow or rain conditions as the car slides very easily. This is the 2nd time it's happened.

My 2009 has 112,000 miles on it. Over a period of time we started to smell gasoline . Thought it may be simply from putting gas in the car. The smell got stronger. Fortunately we had to have a tire replaced. The tire service owner advised we had a major gas leak and advised us not to drive it far. End result was we had a fuel feed pipe that was leaking. Please know we had been driving our 4 year old nephew and 1 year old niece in the car. Final bill was over $2300. Leaking gas !! How can that not warrant a safety recall? Searching the web for information about others having the same problem I discovered others did. Please go to Cadillac Forums for starters. Please review and advise. More safety issues for the CTS involved a seat belt that was worn down and a passenger front door that would not open from either the inside or outside. I CONTACTED MY WARRANTY COMPANY WHICH WAS NO HELP SO I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT A CADILLAC DEALER. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE FOR 2 MONTHS AND HAVE FOUND FORUMS ONLINE WITH CAR OWNERS OF GM VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE SPENT DAYS READING THE OUTCOME BUT NO ONE COULD SAY WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUE OR WHAT WAS FIXED OR CORRECTED. CADILLAC CTS WAS RENTED, OCT 1, 2009, AT 9:00 PM, AT CHARLOTTE AIRPORT. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CTS HOME ON JOSH BIRMINGHAM PARKWAY. I WAS BEHIND HIM IN OUR CAR. WE WERE BOTH ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD, NEAR THE OLD DOWD ROAD OVERPASS. MY HUSBAND SIGNALED ME THAT HE WAS MOVING TO THE SHOULDER TO STOP. I WAS RIGHT BEHIND HIM, ON THE SHOULDER. HE SLOWED TO LESS THAN 5MPH. I SAW HIS BRAKE LIGHTS. BUT, HIS CAR DIDN'T STOP. IT CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD AT A WEIRDLY SLOW SPEED. BRAKES? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TWO FRONT DOOR LATCHES WERE FROZEN AND INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED BECAUSE WATER AND MOISTURE HAD SEEPED IN AND AS A RESULT, BOTH LATCHES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED UNDER A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN LISTED UNDER SERVICE BULLETIN NO: SB-09104 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES , STRUCTURE). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

2009 CADILLAC CTS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE VIBRATION/UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AND ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHIFTING GEARS ERRATICALLY, VIBRATING AND LACKED POWER. THE CONDITION APPEARED IRREGULAR AND FOR SOME TIME, NO TROUBLE LIGHT APPEARED. ONCE A LIGHT FINALLY APPEARED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CADILLAC DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT ALL THE IGNITION COILS ON ONE SIDE OF THE ENGINE WERE DEFECTIVE. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINED THAT WHEN ONE OR MORE IGNITION COILS FAIL, THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE A GREATER VIBRATION AND LACK OF POWER. IN ADDITION, THE COIL FAILURE WOULD CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFT TO COMPENSATE FOR THE LOSS OF POWER AND WITH MULTIPLE COIL FAILURES IT MAY SHIFT MULTIPLE TIMES EACH TIME MORE POWER WAS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THE THROTTLE SPEED. IN JULY 2013, THE CONSUMER BEGAN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PERFORMANCE ISSUES. AGAIN, NO TROUBLE LIGHT APPEARED. A TRIP TO THE DEALER RESULTED IN NOTHING BEING FOUND, DESPITE THE SERVICE HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONDITION CONTINUED AND IN AUGUST 2013. THE TROUBLE LIGHT APPEARED. AT FIRST, THE CAR WASN'T RUNNING STRAIGHT. WHEN I DROVE STRAIGHT ON AN INTERSTATE, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ABOUT FIVE DEGREES CLOCKWISE. THEREFORE, I WENT TO THE LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER, [XXX], FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. AFTER THE ALIGNMENT, THE CAR RAN PRETTY GOOD, UNTIL IT RAN OVER A SMALL BUMP ON THE ROAD. WHEN I RAN OVER THE BUMP, THE CAR SUDDENLY RAN TOWARD THE RIGHT. I TRIED TO TURN LEFT, BUT IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ABOUT HALF A SECOND. AFTER HALF A SECOND, I CONTROLLED THE CAR, AND IT WORKED FINE. WE WERE LEAVING A DINER PARKING LOT IN THE AFTERNOON, WHEN I HAD TO STOP FOR A DELIVERY TRUCK BLOCKING OUR EXIT. WHEN THE TRUCK PULLED FORWARD I LIGHTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SURGE FORWARD AND TO OUR LEFT(MY WIFE WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME). I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR CONTINUED FORWARD AND BEGAN TO TURN TO THE RIGHT AND I TRIED TO STEER THE CAR TO THE LEFT BUT THE STEERING DID NOT RESPOND RESULTING IN MY HITTING TWO PARKED CARS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE CADILLAC DEALER. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND SUGGESTED THAT THE SURGE WAS CAUSED MY A SECONDARY CAR MAT BUT COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE STEERING PROBLEM. THIS SAME SITUATION OCCURRED DURING OUR SEVERE SNOW STORM LAST WINTER. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROL ARM WAS CAUSING THE SQUEAKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT. THE CONTACT BEGAN EXAMINING THE WHEEL AND NOTICED THERE WERE TWO HOLES IN THE RIM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE HOLES MOST LIKELY RESULTED FROM DEBRIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,188 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,288.

CADILLAC CTS, 2009 MODEL YEAR. PLACED THE CAR IN "PARK" AND TRIED TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF. KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO "OFF" POSITION. ENGINE KEPT RUNNING. KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT HE HAS ENCOUNTERED SIMILAR OCCURRENCE WITH MANY 2009, 2010 CTS VEHICLES. I HAVE ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE DEALER TO RIDE WITH ME IN THE CAR. HE FAILED TO DO SO, AND DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR TWO APPOINTMENTS AT HIS DEALERSHIP TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE VIBRATION WAS PRESENT WHEN I TEST DROVE THE CAR THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIPS SON TOLD ME THE VIBRATION EXISTED IN MANY CARS BECAUSE OF THE TIRES GETTING FLAT SPOTS. HE ASSURED ME IT WOULD GO AWAY IN 200 MILES OR SO. 10,000 MILES LATER THE VIBRATION STILL PRESENT. 2009 CADILLAC, CTS SEDAN. CONSUMER STATES DEFECTIVE TIRE COMPRESSOR *TGW THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME WITH A SPARE TIRE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER CADILLAC NO LONGER INSTALLED SPARE TIRES, BUT IT CAME WITH A COMPRESSOR THAT PROVIDED FOAM TO INFLATE THE TIRE IN THE EVENT OF A FLAT TIRE. IN FEBRUARY 2010, THE CONSUMERS WIFE HAD A FLAT TIRE. A PASSERBY STOPPED AND TRIED TO INFLATE THE TIRE USING THE COMPRESSOR AND FOAM, THE FOAM WENT IN THE TIRE AND CAME OUT OF THE HOLE.
