own a 2014 Cadillac CTS (VIN: [XXX] ) that was serviced under GM Recall N192279370 for rear axle differential seizing. On [XXX], the dealership replaced the rear differential carrier assembly and performed the required hydraulic system bleed. At intake, their own multi-point inspection documented no issues with the transmission, radiator, or cooling system. Immediately after the recall repair, my vehicle experienced severe issues: transmission slipping and radiator contamination with transmission fluid. These problems did not exist prior to the recall service. The dealership now claims the damage resulted from “stop leak” in the system and refuses warranty coverage. However, stop leak was not used until after the failure occurred, and only as an emergency measure to get the car home safely. The evidence strongly indicates that the failure resulted from the recall service, possibly from improper reconnection or contamination during the repair. Their refusal to acknowledge responsibility leaves me with significant repair costs for a problem that began directly after their mandated safety recall work. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in investigating this case, as the failure appears to be linked to the recall repair and raises concerns of improper procedures during service. The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the contact heard an extremely loud bang, after which the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway and observed smoke coming from the rear axle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the rear axle differential. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V038000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS A. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 MPH she heard an abnormal sound from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that it sounded like an amplified road noise. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an intermittent sharp jarring of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was downshifting to a lower gear independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who had diagnosed and determined that the differential was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V038000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

My car was unsafe to drive. It would not shift into drive. I had it towed to a mechanic who diagnosed the problem. I was informed the differential was the problem. I could not drive my car until the repair was done. No one had the differential part in the USA. My car is 2014 CTS with only 66,000 miles. Can I be reimbursed for this repair?

The 2014-2015 CTS-V Model has a safety recall for the exact same safety problem (differential) my 2014 CTS is experiencing. Why is the V series only included in the recall when other 2014-2015 CTS's have the same issues?

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a rattling noise present coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that the rear of the vehicle was very unstable and was vibrating and shaking abnormally. The contact that the rear suspension warning light was illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.

The contact called the local dealer and inquired about an estimate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle but did not find an issue with the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving however, the abnormal noise was still heard while the contact was driving the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed a failure with the rear axle differential which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

This is a continuing concerning issue that I've experienced resulting in a major safety hazard, that intel the RWD differential/drivetrain, which is a common safety concern with the 2014 CTS Sedans. There are no recalls from the persistent complaints and concern about this issue. The wearing down of the pinion seal, causing leaks, that have been repaired several times, which constantly reappears, after months to a year of being repaired at certified Cadillac dealerships. Now the GM/Cadillac dealerships are highly recommending a full differential replacement. Unfortunately, there are no differential parts nationwide to repair the issue. The GM manufactures have either discontinued the part or it's been express the parts are on back order from 3 to 6 months, or even up to a year to receive that particular part, yet there's still no recall on this issue. This safety concern needs to be address ASAP. This can prevent power to RWD, causing an accident at driving speeds, damaging the internal drive train as well. Other motorist, as well as passengers and vehicle operator would be at great risk, if this issue is not resolved. It's also costly and very expensive to repair. I have paid for a tremendous amount of money trying to get this reoccurring and repetitive issue resolved, without a reasonable resolution from GM or and Cadillac dealership to even offer a goodwill repair for this problem.

Ive received an official diagnosis from Cadillac, I need a rear differential replacement due to safety issues. If the wheels lock while driving, it can cause an accident. There is a recall associated with the same year Cadillac, but only the sport version so they refuse to fix mine. My car has only 80k miles on it and it was not supposed to go bad so early. It is NOT my fault. It is obvious that Cadillac used a poor quality rear differential when the vehicle was made, resulting in a possible accident threatening my own and other lives on the road. On addition to that, they gave me a quote for $3400 to fix the vehicle. Im asking you to please help me fight this case. The dealer admitted that they fix rear differential issues on this model all the time so it is an obvious issue resulting in innocent people having to go broke fixing a faulty part. THE CUE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN CRACKED/WEBBED WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY JOBS PARKING LOT. THIS CAUSED ALL FEATURES USING THE SCREEN INCLUDING HANDSFEE FOR CALLS INOPERABLE. THE DEALER STATES THIS IS A KNOWN RECURRING ISSUE WITH THE 2014 CUE SCREENS. APPARENTLY THEY ARE PRONE TO DELAMINATING AND CRACKING DUE TO A POOR MANUFACTURING GM DESIGN. THEY STATED THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SCREENS YET AND THE REPAIR WILL BE OUT OF POCKET.

I HAVE A 2014 CADILLAC CTS AND THE CUE WAS REPLACED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THE CUE SCREEN HAS CRACKED ON THE LEFT SIDE AND GONE OUT AGAIN. I CANNOT PAIR MY PHONE TO THE CAR OR ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE FROM THE TOP OR FEET AREA. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I ALSO SEE NOW THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS FAULTY SYSTEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND PROPERLY FIXED.

MY STEERING RACK AND PUMP WENT AT ONLY 26,000 MILES. IF I WAS DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME IT WENT I WOULD HAVE HAD AN AWFUL ACCIDENT. YOU COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE AT ALL. IT COST ME 2275 FOR THE PART AND 6 HOURS LABOR @750.00. I THINK WITH ONLY 26000MILES THIS SHOULD HAVE NOT HAPPEND.

I am filing a complaint against Wagner Cadillac in Tyler, Texas, regarding mishandled recall service that resulted in severe damage to my 2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport (3.6 Twin-Turbo). Timeline of Events: Wagner Cadillac performed Recall #N192279370 (rear differential). At the time, only the differential code was present. Their own multipoint inspection showed no issues with the cooling or transmission systems. Immediately after recall service, my rear axle warning light came on for the first time. Shortly after, the transmission cooler line at the radiator burst, causing coolant and transmission fluid to mix. This led to overheating, hard shifting, and slipping. To limp the car home safely, I used a stop-leak additive only after the breakdown. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act clearly states warranty coverage cannot be denied unless the additive directly caused the failure, which it did not. The damage had already occurred from the ruptured line. When I returned the vehicle, Wagner Cadillac falsely accused me of voiding coverage due to the additive. They then refused to repair my transmission or cooling system, leaving me with a $30,000+ estimate. Why They Are Responsible: The problems began only after recall work. During service, Wagner Cadillac could have: Over-pressurized the system during testing. Improperly disturbed or reinstalled transmission cooler lines. Failed to secure or bleed the cooling system. Any of these actions could have caused the rupture. Their refusal to acknowledge this shifts unlawful blame onto me. Additional Concerns: Instead of helping me, Wagner Cadillac attempted to solicit me to sell them my broken car and buy another vehicle from them — both before and after they denied repairs. This is unethical and exploitative. Impact: I paid cash for this car not long ago. The gear shifter cable on my 2014 Cadillac CTS failed completely and without warning. The vehicle became totally inoperable and could not be shifted into Park, Neutral, Reverse, or Drive. There were no dashboard alerts or signs of failure. This matches the exact symptoms described in GM Recall No. 21V473000. However, my vehicle was excluded from further action because it had previously received a visual-only inspection during the recall window. No functional testing was performed. Despite being marked as “repaired,” the shifter cable failed exactly as described in the original recall. GM confirmed that the recall case was closed after a visual inspection per their protocol. But this inspection clearly failed to detect a dangerous mechanical defect. I have now been without a working vehicle for over two weeks, with the earliest dealership appointment not available until the week of July 7 — and a $180 diagnostic fee quoted, with no guarantee of repair coverage. This breakdown could have resulted in a crash or rollaway if it had occurred while driving or parked on an incline. It poses a serious safety risk not just to me but to the public. Vehicles cleared with insufficient inspection should not be excluded from protection. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this failure, hold GM accountable for prematurely closed recall cases, and consider requiring them to reopen and expand the campaign to include VINs like mine. BOUGHT THIS CAR AND AFTER BUYING IT, I HEARD A VIBRATION. FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE ROAD AND THEN THOUGHT IT WAS THE TIRES. I STARTED CHECKING AROUND FOR TIRES WHEN IT BECAME VERY NOISY SO I CALLED THE DEALER. HE FIRST SAID IT WAS THE POWER TRAIN FLUID NEEDED CHANGED BUT LATER CALLED AND SAID IT WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS CAR HAS LESS THA 40,000 MILES.

THE DEALER TOOK PICTURES AND SENT THEM TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE CONTACT NEEDED A NEW DRIVER'S SEAT. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THEY DID NOT SEE THE PICTURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO ANOTHER DEALER AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO LET THE CONTACT SPEAK TO A MANAGER TO STATE HIS CASE REGARDING THE MATTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

RETURNED HOME IN DRIVEWAY SHUT OFF CAR AND THE DRIVER SEAT AUTOMATICALLY MOVES AS FAR BACK AS THE TRACK WILL ALLOW WELL MY GRAND DAUGHTER WAS IN HER CAR SEAT IN THE REAR BEHIND ME, THE DRIVER AND THE SEAT CRUSHED HER FOOT AND BENT HER FOOT BACK WARDS . HER FOOT WAS TRAPPED AND WEDGED BETWEEN THE SEATS THE DRIVER SEAT COMES WITHIN A FEW INCHES OF THE BACK SEAT. SO, ANYONE SITTING THERE WOULD HAVE THEIR KNEES CRUSHED. I just recently purchased my Cadillac. And the rear end is going out! I literally cannot even drive it anywhere because it is about to lock up completely. It will barely go and definitely doesn't want or like to go uphill. I could hardly go 20 miles per hour when I parked it the other night. There has not been an incident yet but if I hadn't parked it, it could've locked up completely when I was going down the highway is what my mechanic friend told me. It was not bad until just the day before it got to this point. It was making a little bit of a humming noise which I thought was just a wheel bearing the other night because that's exactly what it sounded like. But, the night I parked it it had started making like a loud thumping noise when I would try to accelerate. The more I would accelerate the louder the noise and it just didn't want to go. So, I parked it and that's where it's been since. So, I got online to look and see if there were any recalls for this issue. I find that there is a recall for the 2014 Cts-V for the rear end. I think it's not only the Cts-V models I think it's the regular Cts's as well. Can you check into this for me because I literally just bought this car and haven't even gotten my license plate yet and now I can't even do that or go anywhere for that matter. I am a business owner and I rely on my vehicle and I can't even get to work to open my store right now,. I would greatly appreciate it if you could check into if this recall shouldn't be extended to the regular Cts models as well. Thanks and have a great day.

THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH ON A STRAIGHT, FOUR LANE ROAD. IT MADE A LOUD THUMP AND FELT AS IF THE BRAKES WERE SLAMMED ON. At the moment, the vehicle is releasing a strong order smells like burning oil or gasoline. It’s coming from the rear of the vehicle. You can smell it immediately when you step out and in the car. The rear is making a loud cranking noise and starting to shake. It appears based on the information that it’s a huge possibility it’s my rear differential going out. It posses a threat due to the anticipation of the brakes locking and causing a serious accident to my family or other on the road. The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated that while driving in the early morning, the headlights became inoperable. The contact checked the headlights and noticed both headlights were out. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the mechanic was informed that both headlights went out simultaneously. The headlight assembly was replaced. The manufacturer was notified but no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe and could cause a possible accident. The VIN was not available.

GM NOW SAYS THERE ARE NON AVAILABLE IN THE SYSTEM AND HAVE PROVIDED NO HELP TO SECURE ONE. THIS PART FITS 2014 THRU 2016 CTS'S. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND CADILLAC DOESN'T SEEM TO THANK IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY OR CARE THAT THEY HAVE CREATED THIS SAFETY HAZARD. MY GM COMPLAINT NUMBER IS 8-2572310479. Rear Carrier Assembly is making grinding noise. Mechanic says that driving car could be life threatening. GM and Cadillac dealership has no parts. So car is useless. The car has 56,000 miles. There should be a recall and remedy for this Model, 2014 Cadillac 3.6L CTS. Especially when the V version of this car already has a recall. GM should be held accountable for this design flaw.

Burning smell, traction control, rear axle service along with suspension lights all came on the odometer. Shakes at low idle and wont stay running. Happened this weekend after pulling into the driveway after driving. We scanned code for cylinder 4 misfire. On scanner we had multiple other cylinder misfires but cylinder 4 is a dead misfire. We removed spark plug and found wore. We initially thought to start with replacing spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. We consulted with customer and agreed to replace all spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. After replacing we found no change in cylinder 4 misfire. We removed and re installed original coil and re tested. We performed a compression test on cylinder 4 and have 0 PSI. We thought possible carboned valve stuck open due to direct injection system. We performed a GDI carbon clean but still no change. We installed a borescope into cylinder to inspect and found what looks like a broken piston or part of a valv We scanned code for cylinder 4 misfire. On scanner we had multiple other cylinder misfires but cylinder 4 is a dead misfire. Weremoved spark plug and found worn. We initially thought to start with replacing spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. We replace all spark plugs and cylinder 4 coil. After replacing we found no change in cylinder 4 misfire. We removed and re installed original coil and re tested. We performed a compression test on cylinder 4 and have 0 PSI. We thought possible carboned valve stuck open due to direct injection system. We performed a GDI carbon clean but still no change. We installed a borescope into cylinder to inspect and found what looks like a broken piston or part of a valve broken and smashed into the piston. Fault is internal engine, would need to tear down and re build or replace engine assembly. My safety was at risk driving 80mph on the highway perhaps engine could have seized or caused problems I’m not able to deal with along with having my infant and toddler in the car.

I was driving and it started rattling and getting very bumpy. I exited the freeway and came to a stop. The vehicle would no longer move. I had it towed to my mechanic. The right front axle broke. He replaced it and drove it around the block for a test drive. It was very loud and turning tight when the left axle broke. It has been diagnosed with a bad differential. Everyone I have spoke with at multiple Cadillac dealerships, including someone at a dealership over 30 years, have said they never seen this type of problem and especially on such a newer vehicle with only 84,000 miles. It was a very dangerous situation and if it never happens why did it happen to mine? I’m thinking something is faulty in the differential etc.

Our mechanic told us that the differential is making a grinding sound and he add differential fluid, but said the problem would only get worse. The car only has 62k miles on it and it is VERY EXPENSIVE to have the differential replace/repaired. I feel that this is a defect of the car and should be recalled by Cadillac to have the differential replaced. For the differential to go bad at 60k miles is unacceptable and is terrible reliability.

NOW 2 ADDITIONAL SETS OF TIRES, AND THE 'REAR AXLE SYSTEM OFF' LIGHT NOT TURNING OFF, I WAS TOLD REAR AXLE 'PIECES' NEED TO BE REPLACED TO INCLUDE THE REAR AXLE PINS AND PUMP, COSTING 2700.00. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ENGINE STARTED TO HESITATE AND RUN ROUGHLY AND GOT INCREASINGLY WORSE. WHEN PULLED OVER, NOTICED THAT GAS GAUGE WAS GOING DOWN. IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND STEPPED OUT. A MASSIVE PUDDLE OF GASOLINE HAD FORMED AROUND VEHICLE, AND GAS WAS DRIPPING FROM THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF THE CAR, AND HAD EVEN GOTTEN INTO THE DOOR JAMS AND WAS RUNNING ONTO THE GROUND.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HUB BEARING WAS FAILING BECAUSE THE PARTS IN THE VEHICLE WERE DETERIORATING QUICKLY AFTER INSTALLATION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEN BATCHELOR CADILLAC (11001 W. IH-10, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78230 210-690-0700) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS A DEFAULT WITH THE REPLACEMENT PARTS FAILING PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO SUBMIT THE COMPLAINT IN WRITING FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 CADILLAC CTS. WHILE DRIVING 21 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONTACT, CAUSING HIS HEAD TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE DASHBOARD. AFTER THE CRASH, ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, NECK, AND KNEES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALER THAT I LEASED THE CAR FROM THAT THERE IS A TERRIBLE GLARE AND REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE INTERIOR IS A NEW LIGHT COLOR AND THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH REFLECTIONS OF THE CUTOUTS AND VENTS THAT MIRRORS THE WHOLE TOP OF DASH ON WINDSHIELD. WHEN SUN SHINES THERE IS SUCH A DISTRACTION THAT YOUR EYES ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE CLEARLY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD WITHOUT BEING DISTRACTED. IF A PERSON OR CHILD DARTED IN FRONT OF THE CAR WHEN I AM DISTRACTED BY A REFLECTION OF ALL THE DESIGNS AND CUTOUTS, IT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM CADILLAC. ORIGINAL WINDOW LABEL HAS GOVERNMENT 5 STAR RATING FOR FRONTAL CRASH AND ROLLOVER. THIS WAS IMPORTANT TO ME AS THIS WILL PROBABLY BE MY LAST CAR. I WAS DRIVING A 2014 CADILLAC CTS ON 04/27/14, IN FREMONT, CA. VEHICLE CONFIGURATION: 2014 CTS 3.6L RWD PERFORMANCE. VIN, TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE: 1G6AS5S39E0[XXX] THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 11AM. THE PLANNED TRAVEL ROUTE WAS AS FOLLOWS: FREMONT CADILLAC, 5939 AUTOMALL PKWY, FREMONT, CA ||| NW ON BOYCE ROAD ||| N ON STEVENSON BLVD ||| INTERSTATE-880S ||| EXIT AUTOMALL PKWY ||| FREMONT CADILLAC. I TRAVELED NORTH ON STEVENSON BLVD AND THEN HEADED FOR THE ONRAMP FOR INTERSTATE 880-SOUTH. WHEN I APPROACHED THE FREEWAY ONRAMP I NOTICED, ALL OF A SUDDEN, A DELAY BETWEEN PEDAL APPLICATION AND POWER. I DEMONSTRATED THIS TO MY PASSENGER TWICE OVER, BY GENTLY LETTING OFF THE GAS AND APPLYING IT AGAIN... AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ACCOMPANIED WITH A LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITY CONTROL, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, AND SHUDDERING DURING GEAR SHIFTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AT THE TIME. ASIDE FROM THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES, NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE WERE OBSERVED. I ONLY TRAVELED TWO MILES BEFORE EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. AS THIS WAS A BRAND NEW CAR ON A TEST DRIVE, IT OBVIOUSLY HAD VERY FEW MILES ON THE ODOMETER. UPON RETURNING TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP, THE SALES ASSOCIATES PULLED THE CAR BACK ONTO THE SALES LOT, MOVED OTHER NEW CARS OUT OF THE WAY, AND PARKED THE CAR AMONGST OTHER NEW VEHICLES FOR SALE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOST CERTAINLY NOT PULLED INTO THE SERVICE DRIVE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS UNSETTLING NEWS. I HAVE NO FAITH THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PROPERLY INSPECTED, NOR DO I HAVE FAITH THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL RESPONSIBLY HANDLE THIS MATTER.
