MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING. I HAD THE WATER PUMP REPLACED AND THE RADIATOR AND IT CONTINUED TO OVER HEAT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT I MY CROSS OVER PIPES WERE LEAKING AND I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GAUGE TEMPERATURE READING WAS EXTREMELY HIGH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE WATER PUMP, HEATER FAN SWITCH, THERMOSTAT AND SERPENTINE BELT. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIRS. 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE PERSISTENTLY OVERHEATS AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT. THE THERMOSTAT, UPPER RADIATOR HOSE AND RESERVOIR WERE REPLACED. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST REVEALED EXHAUST WAS ENTERING THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE WOULD EMIT SMOKE OF ANY COLOR. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE WITH A V8, 4.6 LITER NORTH STAR ALUMINUM ENGINE. HE STATED THAT AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 5 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WOULD OVERHEAT. THIS WAS A FREQUENT FAILURE OCCURRING IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY HIS INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND FOUND THAT THE FLY-WHEEL FAILED AND THE RIGHT CYLINDER WAS MISSING THE SOFT PLUG BEHIND THE WATER PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO FOUND TO BE LEAKING ANTI-FREEZE INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDERS AND THROUGH THE TAIL PIPE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS DROPPED IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE FLY-WHEEL AND THE FREEZE PLUG WAS ALSO REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION STATION. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HIM TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. NO ADDITIONAL REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,987 AND THE CURRENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000. THE VIN WAS NOT ACCEPTED.

THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED IN BOTH CARS BECAUSE OF A GRINDING AND DIFFICULTY IN STEERING. THE CONSUMER REPLACED ONE TIRE AT A TIME UNTIL ALL OF THE TIRES WERE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE BUBBLES. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THIS PAST WEEKEND HE EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE BECAUSE OF A BUBBLE. THE CONSUMER EXCHANGED THE TIRE WITH THE CADILLAC DEALER, AND THEY INSTALLED THE SAME BRAND OF TIRE THAT WAS ORIGINALLY ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT RETURNED HOME HE REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND OF TIRES. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS 20,000 MILES. THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME TYPE OF TIRES, BUT IF THE CONSUMER WANTED A DIFFERENT BRAND OF TIRES THERE WOULD NOT BE A WARRANTY FOR THE TIRES. SOME OF THE TREAD REMAINED ON WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE TIRE DAMAGED THE QUARTER PANEL, REAR LOWER BUMPER AND THE REAR DOOR. THE RESULT WAS TIRE FAILURE, THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. A CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROLMAN STOP TO GIVE ASSISTANCE BY CALLING AAA TO HAVE OUR CAR PIGGYBACKED TO A BIG-O DEALER TO REPLACE THE FAILED TIRE. I PURCHASED TWO NEW TIRES TO BE MOUNTED IN REAR OF THE CAR. I'VE KEPT THE OLD TIRE SO THAT I MAY SUBMIT A CLAIM TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. I HAVE A 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY, I HAVE HAD THIS CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS, THE SECOND DEALER, LAST SUMMER, REPLACED THE REAR STRUTS & STABILIZER BAR WHICH DID NOT RECTIFY THE SITUATION WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURES ARE ABOVE 60 DEGREES, I HEAR A "FIERCE" SCREECH/SCRUNCH SOUND FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION, I HAVE GONE ROUND & ROUND WITH CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE & THE DEALERS, NOW THAT THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY CADILLAC DOESN'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED & THE TIRES ROTATED LAST WEEK & WHILE THEY WERE UNDER THE CAR I HAD THEM TO LOOK AT THE REAR SUSPENSION, THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY & THE DEALER KNEW BETTER THAN REPLACE REAR STRUTS WITH THIS TYPE OF NOISE. IT SEEMS THAT NOURSE CADILLAC IN DELAWARE RAN UP A BIG TAB & BILLED IT TO CADILLAC (WARRANTY) AND AS SOON AS THEY MADE THEIR MONEY THEY WANTED NOTHING MORE TO DO WITH THE CAR SO NOW I AM STUCK. I WOULD SAY EVERY 4 MONTHS, THE CAR LEKS GALLONS AND GALLONS OF WATER INTO THE BACK SEAT, I'VE COMPLIANTED TO LINDSAY CADILLAC SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT IT, THEY TOLD ME THE CAR LEAKED DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN, YET THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME 400$ A YEAR TO GET THE DRAIN UNCLOGGED, LIKE I BUILT THE CAR, AND I COMPLAINTED TO THE MAIN OFFICE IN MICHGAN, AND I SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGER NAME JASON MORALES, AND HE SAID THAT CADILLAC WOULD COMPENSATE ME, BUT ONLY IF I TRADE MY CAR IN FOR A NEW/ NEWER CAR. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER BEING SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I OWN A 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE WITH ALLOY WHEELS. TWO OF THE FOUR WHEELS HAVE STRESS CRACKS IN THEM. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN ABUSIVELY AND THE TIRES AND WHEELS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PROPERLY BALANCED AND ALIGNED. *TR I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS TYPE OF WHEEL(S) WILL ALSO GET STRESS FRACTURES AND THE WHEELS WILL FAIL WITH CATASTROPHIC RESULTS! I WILL KEEP THE WHEELS AND MAKE THEM AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION FOR 45 DAYS.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 60-70 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIMMY DRASTICALLY. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OVER 50 MPH. THE FRONT TIE ROD WAS REPLACED AND A SEMI-ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED. THE AXLE HUB CARRIER REAR SUSPENSION WAS FAULTY AND THE COIL SPRING WAS ALSO DAMAGED. LATER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT OPERATE AND, UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE WIPERS WERE WIRED INCORRECTLY. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 50 MPH, THE CHECK OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,000. MY 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE HAS HAD TWO ONGOING DEFECTS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN DURING THE FIRST YEAR WHEN THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND AFTER MANY SERVICE VISITS FOR REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. TWO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS APPEAR, 1.TRACTION ENGAGING LIGHT AND 2.ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUE TO ILLUMINATE. AT THE SAME TIME THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT GROWLING NOISE AND THE BRAKES GRAB AND MAKE THE STEERING DIFFICULT. CADILLAC IS AWARE OF THE DEFECTS AND THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE CADILLAC DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES TO CORRECT THESE TWO DEFECTS BUT THE PROBLEMS PERSIST. CADILLAC STATE THAT THE CAR DOES NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR BUY BACK AND THEREFORE I AM IN POSSESSION OF A CAR THAT POSES TWO SAFETY HAZARDS AND I AM FEARFUL TO DRIVE THE CAR AND IT WOULD BE UNETHICAL TO SELL AN UNSAFE CAR. *JB

VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER AND AGAIN ADVISED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG,L JUST A FAULTY LIGHT. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NEVER DELOY UNLESSS THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT. ON 7-29-00 WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON, AND AIR BAGSDELOYED IMMEDIATELY ON DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER AND LEFT FOR 27 DAYS. GMC STATED THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ANOTHER VEHICLE. AS I CAN SEE THEY LIED TO ME, IT HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE A LAWSUIT PENDING WITH THEM SINCE 11-29-99 REQUESTING THEY BUY BACK MY VEHICLE. NOTHING HAS BEEN HEARD FROM SINCE. ON 11-1-99 FUEL GAUGE SENSOR WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ALL THESE PROBLEMS STARTED WITH A BATTERY SHORT ON 5-26-99 AND THE COMPUTER HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN.
