I HAVE A 2001 CADILLAC DEVILLE WITH A 4.6(Y) MOTOR WHILE I LOVE THE CAR THE MOTOR IS THE PITS IT IS VERY COSTLY USING OVER 1QT BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND NOW I HAVE A MISFIRE AND LOST OF COOLANT AND WAS TOLD THAT MY HEAD GASKET HAD BLOWN AND MY CRANKCASE HALVES ARE LEAKING AND I WAS TOLD TO FIX IT WOULD BE A NEW ENGINE AT THE COST OF $8K SO I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE RANDOM MISFIRE BECAUSE I CANT AFFORD TO FIX IT YOU WOULD THINK SINCE CADILLAC IS GM'S LUXURY BRAND THEY WOULDN'T HAVE THE CUSTOMERS DEAL WITH THIS SLOPPY ENGINE ALSO I HAVE HAD THE OIL DRIP ON THE EXHAUST AND START A SMALL FIRE SO NOW I WILL HAVE TO TRY AND BABY THIS THING. *TR

I HAVE A 2001 CADILLAC DTS THE ENGINE TAKE EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL AND A COOLANT ABSORPTION THAT CAUSE OVERHEATING AND CONSTANT ENGINE WORK. I WAS TOLD AT THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIP THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CADILLAC NORTH STAR ENGINE. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFFS WHEN THE CAR RUNS HOT AND MY SAFETY WAS IN JEOPARDY DUE TO THIS KNOWN FAILURE. GM SHOULD FIX THESE KNOWN SAFETY ISSUES WITH CARS WITH THIS ISSUE AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. ENGINE OVERHEATED AND WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE SAYING THAT THE CAUSE OF THIS IS THE BOLTS HOLDING THE ENGINE BLOCK TOGETHER GOT LOOSE, AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINES. THE COST OF REPAIR WILL BE MORE THAN $4000 . THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVERED THIS BECAUSE THEY SAID IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I CHECK ON LINE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM,. ( IT WILL ALSO USE AN EXTRA QT OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.) EVERY SAYS THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS ENGINES. Odometer Fraud. The contact owns a 1990 Cadillac Brougham. The contact purchased the vehicle from a dealer on eBay on 05/15/2025. The vehicle was shipped to the contact. The contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased, the Sales Agreement and the odometer indicated the mileage was 46,260. In addition, the contact stated that the Sales Advertisement indicated that the mileage was 46,260. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for service. The contact was informed of several needed repairs. The contact then became suspicious of the odometer. The contact later acquired a Carfax report. The Carfax report indicated that in 2016 the vehicle received an Emissions Test, and the odometer reading was reported as 125,041. The contact then took the vehicle to Pep Boys, where it was confirmed that the odometer had been rolled back. The dealer was contacted several times, and the dealer was made aware of the odometer discrepancy. In addition, the dealer was made aware of the funds that the contact had invested in the vehicle for the repairs. The contact requested that all funds be returned, and the dealer take the vehicle back. The dealer ended communications.

WHEN I PURCHASED MY CADILLAC, IT HAD 22,000 MILES ON IT. THERE WAS A "BUMPING" IN THE STEERING WHEN I TURNED AT SLOW SPEEDS. I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. 1. THE DEALER REPAIRED A BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT, DIDN'T FIX IT. 2. THE DEALER CHANGED THE RACK & PINION, DIDN'T FIX IT. 3. THE DEALER CHANGED THE TIE ROD ENDS, DIDN'T FIX IT. 4. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TIGHTENED UP LOOSE BOLTS IN THE FRONT END, DIDN'T FIX IT. 5. FINALLY, I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD HAVE TO BE CHANGED AND WOULD COST ABOUT $1,300. *JB WHEN I OBJECTED, BECAUSE I STILL AM NOT SURE IF THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT MIGHT LOCK UP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CADILLAC DEVILLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. HE REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND PUMP THE BRAKES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. HE THEN SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE WAS RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,900 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,200. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TIRE HAS SEVERE TREAD SEPARATION IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS AROUND TIRE. THE LARGEST SEPARATION INCLUDES APPROXIMATELY 30% OF THE TREAD ON ONE SIDE OF TIRE. TREAD SEPARATED ON DOT SERIAL SIDE OF TIRE. THE TIRE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MY MOTHER'S 2001 CADILLAC DEVILLE. NOT SURE OF DATE TREAD SEPARATION COMMENCED BUT I DISCOVERED THE TREAD SEPARATION IN DECEMBER 2010. NOT REPAIRABLE- NEEDED NEW TIRE 10/11/07 FLAT TIRE ON LOCAL STREET. AGAIN GOOD TREAD AND NO SIGN OF WEAR 85,424 MILES ON CAR - NEEDED NEW TIRE 5/29/08 FLAT TIRE WHILE RIDING ON RT 95 - GOOD TREAD AND NO SIGN OF WEAR. 90,002 MILES ON ARE - NEEDED NEW TIRE WE ARE A RETIRED COUPLE WHO TAKE CARE OUR CAR (INCLUDING TIRES). WHILE I CAN UNDERSTAND 1 FLAT TIRE AND POSSIBLY A 2ND FLAT TIRE BUT WHEN WE HAD THE 3RD FLAT TIRE WE SUSPECT A DEFECT. WE WROTE TO MICHELIN AND THEY SENT US TO A TIRE DEALER TO CHECK THE REMAINING TIRE. THE TIRE MANAGER PUT IT ON THE LIFT AND SAID HE AGREED THAT THE TIRE WAS GOOD - GOOD TREAD AND NO WEAR. BECAUSE WE WERE AFRAID OF MORE FLATS HE REMOVED THE TIRES FROM THE RIMS - CLEANED THEM OUT - REPLACED THE STEMS AND PUT THEM BACK ON THE CAR. EACH FLAT THAT WE BROUGHT IN (3 DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS) THE SHOP SAID THE TIRE WAS GOOD , THERE SEEMED TO BE A "BUBBLE" WHICH THEY SAID COULD BE A STEM PROBLEM. I AM WRITING BECAUSE OF A TV STORY ON THE BOSTON CHANNEL ON FAULTY STEMS MADE IN CHINA. IF THERE ARE FAULTY STEMS OUT THERE THE PUBLIC SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS TO AVOID ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLY DEATHS. $3440.72 OF REPAIRS FROM JAN 05 TO AUG 06, INCLUDES AIR BAGS, COMPUTER PROBLEMS, ELECTRIC WINDOWS, AIR CONDITIONER,FUEL PUMP,WATER PUMP,ELECTRIC SEAT HEATER,ETC. ON A 2001 CADILLAC DTS WITH 60038 MILES. ALL FIXED BY DEALER AND EXTENDED WARRANTY. WE PAID #50.00 DEDUCTIBLE FOR EACH TRIP TO SERVICE DEPT. 8 TIMES SINCE JAN 05. THE COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE NUMBER OF TIMES WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND THE NUMEROUS REPAIRS ON A CAR THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE WELL MADE, AND OF COURSE IS VERY EXPENSIVE. WE ARE SELLING THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS NOT RELIABLE AND WILL HAVE TO WITHDRAW SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE OF THE SALE VALUE AND WHAT WE OWE. WE WOULD BE KEEPING THE CAR UNTIL PAID FOR IF THERE HAD NOT BEEN SO MANY PROBLEMS. THIS CAR IS KEPT IN A GARAGE AT ALL TIMES,AND WE HAVE IT SERVICED EVERY 3000 MILES AND HAVE DONE THIS SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN DEC 2003. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE NAVIGATING SLOWLY THROUGH A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WENT BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM THROUGH THE VEHICLE'S BUILT IN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. *AK

DT: THE CONSUMER STATED 2001 CADILLAC DEVILLE WAS STALLING AND JUMPING. THIS IS HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS 4 TIMES. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS STALLING EVEN IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONSUMER IS GETTING A RENTAL WHEN THE DEALER IS WORKING ON THE CAR. THE CAR HAS HAD DIAGNOSTIC TESTING DONE. THE OWNER SAYS THAT THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER CAN NOT GET THE CAR INTO THE SHOP TILL NEXT WEEK. AND THE OWNER IS NOW GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL FEE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THE OWNER IS HAVING ISSUES ON HER WARRANTY ALSO. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED SENSORS, GASKETS AND ROTORS, MOTOR MOUNTS, REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER. THE OWNER DOES HAVE ANY IDEA ON THE CAUSE. THE COMPONENT THAT I AM CHOOSING IS OTHER. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. SPEED IS NOT A FACTOR.*AK

DT: WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER PUTS FOOT ON THE BRAKES, AND THEN PUTS FOOT BACK ON THE GAS, AND THE VEHICLE DIES. THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THERE ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE HAND. THEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND STAYS ON FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE YET, WAITING ON GM TO RECOMMEND.*AK *SB

THERE WAS A SHORT UNDER THE DASHBOARD AND SMOKE WAS COMING FROM DASHBOARD. CONTACTED DEALER WHO WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANTHING. *AK CONSUMER CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHO TOOK DOWN THE INFO AND NEVER PICKED UP THE VEHICLE. THE INFORMATION WAS NEVER PASSED ON TO THE DISPATCHER. THE FUMES ALMOST CAUSED CONSUMER TO HAVE A COLLISION WHILE GOING 65 MILES PER HOUR. CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASE. THE ENGINE LIGHT KEPT ILLUMINATING AND THE BRAKE HOSE WAS LOOSE. CONSUMER TRIED TO HAVE THE DEALER BUY THE VEHICLE BACK BUT THEY REFUSED. *JG

MR. ROSS CIRINCIONE IS WRITING ON BEHALF OF MS. CIANCIOLO STATING THAT A DEFECT IN THE BUCKET SEAT HEATING ELEMENT CAUSE BURNT EDGES WITH A 2-3 INCH HOLE DIAMETER IN THE LEATHER AND A MELTED SEAT CUSHION UNDERNEATH. ALTHOUGH THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN ALERTING DEALERSHIPS TO THE PROBLEM, THE DEALERSHIP INSISTED THAT THE BURN HOLE MUST HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY HER LOCAL DETAILING SHOP. ONWER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT. *TT
