MY A/C RUNS AT WILL. OFF AND ON BY ITSELF. RUNNING, STATIONARY, AND IN MOTION. MY HEADLIGHTS COME ON WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE EVER THOUGH THEY ARE TURNED OFF. MY ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED AND THE BATTERY AND ALL CHECKED OUT FINE AT TWO LOCAL PARTS /BATTERY STORES JULY 18TH 2017. BOTH WERE REPLACED IN MAY OF 2016. THE DISPLAY PANEL FOR THE A/C SHOWS BOTH THE FAN ICON AND THE AUTO ICON. THE AUTO ICON WILL NOT TURN OFF. SEARCHING ON LINE FOR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MAKE AND MODEL SHOW MANY OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM AND NO ANSWERS. THIS BEGAN JULY 6TH AND IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AS IN SEVERAL TIMES A DAY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CADILLAC DEVILLE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES PRIOR TO THE DEALER REPAIRING THE VEHICLE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

DRIVING ON A LOCAL FREEWAY, MY IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF. I WAS ONLY GOING 55 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFICE. I WAS ABLE TO PLACE THE CAR IN NEUTRAL & RESTART THE ENGINE, BUT FOR A SHORT PERIOD I WAS WITH LIMITED BRAKING AND STEERING. HAD MY WIFE BEEN DRIVING I AM CERTAIN THE OUTCOME WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AS GOOD. AFTER THIS I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER TO HAVE THE IGNITION SWITCH CORRECTIVE RECALL COMPLIED WITH. THEY ADJUSTED THE SIZE OF THE HOLE ON MY KEYS - THIS WAS THE FIX. HOWEVER, CHANGING THE SIZE OF THE KEY HOLE DOES NOTHING TO PREVENT MY IGNITION SWITCH FROM "POPPING' TO OFF. AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE MENTIONED, I HAD ONLY A SINGLE KEY IN PLACE. I CONTACTED CADILLAC ABOUT THIS AND THEIR REPLY HAS BEEN THAT THE RECALL ONLY COVERS THE KEY HOLE CHANGE & DOES NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. FURTHER, THEY INDICATEDTHAT I COULD HAVE THE IGNITION SWITCH CHANGED FOR $1090.00.

DURING WINTER DRIVING, TURNED ON THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL, FELT THE FINGERS OF MY LEFT HAND BEGIN TO BURN AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL COVER. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT A FEW WEEKS BUT ABOUT FIVE TIMES NOW I HAVE HAD THE POWER STEERING QUIT WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. IT RETURNS IN SECONDS BUT I AM DISABLED AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO CONTROL THE CAR. LUCKILY, THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS. I'M AFRAID OF BEING KILLED. I HAVE SINCE READ THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, DO FOLKS HAVE TO DIE BEFORE GM FIXES THE PROBLEM?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CADILLAC DTS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. A SLIGHT MUSTY ODOR WAS PRESENT DUE TO THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT DROVE TO AN UNKNOWN CADILLAC DEALER LOCATED IN STUART, FL, WHO STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT THE AIR BAG BECAUSE IT WOULD BE A LONG PROCESS. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CLAUDE NOLAN CADILLAC (LOCATED ON SOUTHSIDE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL) AND WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE THEY HAD NEVER SEEN AN AIR BAG DEPLOY WITHOUT A CRASH. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO CLAUDE NOLAN CADILLAC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND THAT SOMETHING MUST HAVE SET OFF THE AIR BAG. THE FRONT HEAD LIGHTS ON MY 2006 CADILLAC DTS GO OUT AT ALL TIMES. I HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY CUT OUT AND I HAVE TO TURN THE LIGHT SWITCH OFF AND ON SO I CAN DRIVE AT NIGHT. II PREVIOUSLY OWNED ANOTHER 2006 CADILLAC DTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CADILLAC DEALER KRISTAL AUTO MALL IN BROOKLYN, NY AND THEY FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH THEY SAID WAS A FAULTY BALLAST. IT WAS FAULTY ON BOTH HEADLIGHTS. AND NOW IN THE DTS I HAVE, IT IS FAULTY TOO. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS SAME ISSUE IN OTHER GM VEHICLES.

DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT APPLIED THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AND EXPERIENCED TOTAL LOSS OF THE EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS. WHEN DISENGAGING THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH THE HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON. HE TESTED THIS SEVERAL TIMES, AND EACH TIME THAT HE ENGAGED THE TURN SIGNALS THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, BUT WOULD COME BACK ON WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WAS NOT IN USE. WITHIN THE LAST TWO MONTHS, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A SOMEWHAT CROWDED INTERSTATE, I FOUND MYSELF DRIVING BEHIND A NEWER MODEL OF CADILLAC WITH A NEW TYPE OF TAIL LIGHT/BRAKE LIGHT (POSSIBLY LEDS). MY FOLLOWING DISTANCE WAS ABOUT 30 FEET AT TIMES. THIS NEW TYPE OF LIGHT PROVED TO BE VERY DISTRACTING -- NOT BECAUSE OF ITS NOVELTY BUT BECAUSE OF A "STREAKING" OPTICAL EFFECT CREATED BY THE LIGHTS. I HAVE EXCELLENT NIGHT VISION AND USE GLASSES WHEN I DRIVE. I NEVER HAVE LIGHT-ASSOCIATED VISION PROBLEMS WHEN DRIVING. BUT THE EFFECT CREATED BY THESE CADILLAC TAIL LIGHTS/BRAKE LIGHTS PROVED SO DISTRACTING THAT I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE IN A NORMAL MANNER. WHEN I WOULD LOOK AT THE TAIL LIGHTS AND THEN LOOK AWAY (TO WATCH OTHER CARS, CHECK MIRRORS, ETC.), SEVERAL VERY BRIGHT RED STREAKS OR BLURS OF LIGHT WOULD "EMERGE" FROM THE CADILLAC TAIL LIGHTS AND FOLLOW WITHIN MY FIELD OF VIEW. THIS SAME DISTRACTING STREAK/BLUR EFFECT WOULD OCCUR WITH EVEN THE SMALLEST MOVEMENT OF MY EYES -- AS I LOOKED FROM CADILLAC TAIL LIGHT TO CADILLAC TRUNK, FOR EXAMPLE. THE EFFECT PROVED SO DISTRACTING THAT I COULD NOT LOOK AT THE CADILLAC AHEAD FOR A WHILE AND HAD TO LET THE CAR MOVE VERY FAR AHEAD OF ME BEFORE I COULD RETURN TO NORMAL DRIVING, EVENTUALLY MANAGING TO CHANGE LANES AND KEEP MY DISTANCE FROM THE CADILLAC. I BRING THIS MATTER TO YOUR ATTENTION BECAUSE I CONSIDER THESE TAIL LIGHTS TO BE A POTENTIAL AND SERIOUS DRIVING HAZARD. THE STREAKING EFFECT CAUSED BY THESE NEW TYPES OF LIGHTS CAN CONFUSE AND DISTRACT DRIVERS. THE STREAK EFFECT, FOR EXAMPLE, MIGHT PROMPT A DRIVER TO IMAGINE SEEING A LIGHT WHERE THERE IS, IN FACT, NO LIGHT -- PERHAPS CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BRAKE SUDDENLY AND UNNECESSARILY. OR, PERHAPS MORE LIKELY, THE ANNOYING STREAK EFFECT COULD FORCE SOME DRIVERS TO ADOPT LESS-THEN-SAFE DRIVING MEASURES TO AVOID LOOKING AT THE LIGHTS. IN EITHER CASE, THESE LIGHTS ARE DISTRACTING AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS. I URGE YOU TO INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AS A SAFETY ISSUE. THANK YOU. *JB

I TOOK MY CADILLAC IN FOR A RECALL ON MY KEYS. THEN THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED MY CAR AND TOLD ME I HAVE A BADLY WORN RIGHT FRONT TIE ROD THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $6,000. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR, BUT HAVE NOT HAD A SECOND OPINION. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS?? I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, SHIFTED TO DRIVE, BEGAN DRIVING ON MY STREET AND THE WHEEL CAME OFF AND THE CAR HIT THE GROUND. THE DRIVERS SIDE BALL JOINT BROKE. HAD I BEEN ON THE FREEWAY, THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MULTI-CAR ACCIDENT WITH INJURY AND OR DEATH TO MANY PEOPLE. OEM BALL JOINTS, ESPECIALLY ON AN EXPENSIVE CAR LIKE A CADILLAC DEVILLE, SHOULD HAVE A LIFETIME OR THE SAME LIFE EXPECTANCY AS THE OTHER MAJOR COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE FRAME. IT IS AN ENGINEERING DEFECT (INFERIOR METAL STRENGTH AND QUALITY) FOR A BALL JOINT ON A CADILLAC TO "BREAK" FOR NO REASON. IT SHOULD BE FORBIDDEN AND PUNITIVE FOR A BALLJOINT ON A CADILLAC TO BREAK BEFORE 300,000 MILES. WHY SHOULD CONSUMERS BE FORCED TO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH THEIR LIVES???? A GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT THAT IS PERMANENTLY LUBED AS IN THE CADILLAC LINE, SHOULD BE RELIABLE FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. ANYTHING ELSE IS THE SAME AS ATTEMPTED MURDER AND SHOULD BE FORBIDDEN OR PUNISHED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE EXHIBITED A HOLE WHICH CAUSED AN EXCESSIVE BRAKE FLUID LEAK. THE BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED. ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2014, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN MY 2005 CADILLAC DEVILLE AT THE SPEED OF 65 MPH. I EXIT ON TO AN EXIT RAMP AND STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. WHILE AT THE LIGHT MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES BUT THE PEDDLE KEPT GOING TO THE FLOOR. I THEN REALIZED I LOST MY BREAKS. THE REPAIR SHOP THAT REPAIRED MY BRAKES STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE GOING TO THE REAR BRAKES RUSTED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CAR, WHICH CAUSED MY BRAKE FAILURE. THIS REPAIR COST ME $572.66 TO RUN 2 NEW BRAKE LINES FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR TO THE REAR BRAKES. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE I WAS STOPPED AND NOT TRYING TO STOP AT 65 MPH. I HAVE AN 84 CHEVY, A 98 BUICK AND A 2002 CHEVY AND THE ONLY THING I EVER DID TO THE BRAKES WAS TO REPLACE THEM WHEN THEY WORE OUT. THE WINDOW REGULATOR ON THE RR WINDOW OF MY 2005 CADILLAC DEVILLE IS DEFECTIVE. MY WINDOW IS DOWN AND WON'T COME BACK UP ALTHOUGH THE MOTOR POWER IS RUNNING TO THE WINDOW THE REGULATOR IS BROKEN. I HAVE CHECKED THE COMPLAINTS AND NOTED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATORS ON THIS MODEL OF DEVILLE WHICH IN 2002 THROUGH 2005. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DETROIT LOCATION OF DON MASSEY CADILLAC ON JUNE 9 2009. THERE WAS A VERY BAD RAIN STORM THAT WEEKEND. I WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THE RAIN COMING INTO THE VEHICLE BY THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH BOARD DRIPPING FROM THE ROOF. AFTER TAKING IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO DON MASSEY THEY INDICATED TO ME THAT IT WAS SOME SORT OF PLUG IN THE SUNROOF THAT WAS GETTING CLOGGED UP. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND AVOID A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND WAS WAITING FOR PARTS TO ARRIVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CADILLAC DEVILLE. WHEN THE CONTACT DROVE INTO AN AREA WITH WATER PUDDLES, THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP. HE IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SAFELY DROVE TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT WATER WAS GETTING ONTO THE SERPENTINE BELT AND CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO CURRENT REMEDY TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER TESTED THE COMPUTER THE FIRST TIME. THE SECOND TIME, THEY CLEANED THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY AND REPLACED IT THE THIRD TIME. THE FOURTH TIME, THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER.
