The vehicle "service Airbag " warning keeps flashing. Should I keep driving this vehicle, Is my safety and the safety of other drivers at risk? I've reported this to the GMC dealers in my local area, but the want to charge me $125.00 to $169.00 dollars to perform a diagnostic. My concern is for safety of myself and others. Can this problem be fixed at a minimal or no price.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A QUART OF OIL HAD TO BE ADDED EVERY TEN MILES. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CADILLAC DTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND THE LOW ENGINE POWER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES HAD TO BE UTILIZED IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE AIR CONDITIONER AND THE RADIO WOULD POWER OFF INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HEAD RESTRAINT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED, WHICH CAUSES A DRIVING HAZARD. POSITIONED TOO CLOSE TO MY HEAD WHEN I SIT UP STRAIGHT, THE HEAD RESTRAINT CAUSES MY HEAD TO POINT TOWARD MY LAP . IF I POSITION THE SEATS BACK SO THAT I CAN LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD WITH MY HEAD ERECT, THE SEAT BACK DOES NOT TOUCH MY SHOULDERS AND UPPER BACK AND I HAVE TO HOLD TIGHTLY TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO STEADY MYSELF TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR, WHICH IS BOTH DISTRACTING AND VERY TIRING. I AM 5'9", 133 #, SLIGHTLY BUILT IN THE SHOULDERS. MY HUSBAND HAS MORE SHOULDERS AND HAS NO PROBLEM. OUR 2006 CADILLAC DTS HAD ADJUSTABLE HEADRESTS, WHICH WE ADJUSTED EACH TIME WE USED ONE OF THE FRONT SEATS. IN THE 2010 DTS, I HAVE PUT THE SEAT BACK A FEW INCHES AND SUPPLEMENTED WITH A SMALL PILLOW TO SUPPORT MY UPPER BACK, BUT HAVING TO ADJUST THE PILLOW FREQUENTLY AFTER I TURN TO LOOK TO THE SIDE OR BEHIND, DISTRACTS FROM MY DRIVING. WE RENTED BOTH A 2009 HONDA ACCORD AND A 2010 FORD FUSION AND I HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THOSE VEHICLES. OUR DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE; SHE IS 5'4" AND SLIGHT AND HAS THE VERY SAME PROBLEM WITH THE HEAD RESTRAINTS AS I DO. THEREFORE, HEIGHT IS NOT THE ISSUE; HAVING A THINNER FRAME THAN THE DOT "TEST DUMMIES" USED TO DETERMINE THE DISTANCE IS THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHICH CANNOT BE ADDRESSED IN A CASUAL MANNER BY THE USER. THE DOT MUST ADDRESS THIS BEFORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS OCCUR.

I was traveling on Stevenson expressway at 55 mph when the fuel pump relay overheated and melted, which burned up the REC (Rear Electrical Electrical Center /fusebox). When the fuse pump relay overheated it shut fuel down going to the fuel pump, which caused the engine to stall. When the engine stalled the car cut off, causing me to loose power steering. Because I was traveling in the middle lane of a three lane expressway at a high rate of speed, the vehicle started deaccelerating and I couldn’t control the vehicle with no power steering, I couldn’t get over to the shoulder. This nearly caused a wreck putting me in harm, because vehicles around me were accelerating at 55 to 70mph. All I could do is put my flashers on. Coast to a stop, and hope no one rear ended me, which nearly occurred. The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac DTS. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle shut off. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was pushed to the side of the roadway. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to the residence. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle started and shut off immediately. The contact stated she smelled a burning plastic odor coming from the rear seats. The contact stated that upon lifting the rear middle seat, she noticed that fuses had melted in the fuse box. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000.

The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local dealer for an oil change and he was informed of an oil pan leak coming from a bolt-on undercarriage causing damage to the engine. The dealer offered to repair the oil leak however, the contact declined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.

(1) MY 2010 CADILLAC DTS IS EQUIPPED WITH THE FACTORY OPTIONAL CHROME RIMS. THE CAR WAS BUILT THE END OF MAY, 2010, AND BY JUNE, 2014, WITH APPROXIMATELY 54,000 MILES, ONE RIM WAS SO BADLY CORRODED IT WOULD NO LONGER HOLD AIR. ONE OTHER RIM WAS ALSO CORRODING BADLY, BUT WAS STILL HOLDING AIR BEFORE I REPLACED IT. THE OTHER TWO RIMS HAD SOME CORROSION, BUT TO A MUCH LESSER EXTENT THAN THE OTHERS. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SENSOR HAD STOPPED WORKING ON THE TIRE THAT WAS LOSING PRESSURE, BUT IS WORKING SATISFACTORILY ON THE NEW RIM. IN MY OPINION, CADILLAC SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL ANY OF THESE RIMS THAT HAVE CORRODED--TRUE, MICHIGAN USES SALT ON ITS ROAD DURING THE WINTER, BUT THIS IS SOMETHING CADILLAC CERTAINLY KNEW ABOUT AND THAT IT SELLS A LARGER NUMBER OF CARS IN MICHIGAN. FURTHER, THE LIST PRICE FOR REPLACEMENT RIMS FROM CADILLAC IS APPROXIMATELY $900.00 PER RIM--$3600.00 FOR ALL FOUR! I COULD LIVE WITH THE CORROSION IN TERMS OF APPEARANCE, BUT A RIM THAT WILL NOT HOLD AIR IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD, AND IT OCCURRED FAIRLY EARLY ON IN THE VEHICLE'S OPERATIONAL LIFE. (2) MY 2010 CADILLAC DTS HAD THE BULB ON ITS UPPER DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TURN SIGNAL BURN OUT AFTER FOUR YEARS AND 54,000 MILES. IT TURNED OUT IT IS A TWO-PERSON JOB TO REPLACE THE BULB (WHICH IS A MUNDANE, TRADITIONAL INCANDESCENT BULB, NOT A LED) AND A LABOR COST OF MORE THAN $200.00. THE REPLACEMENT IS NOT SOMETHING EVEN A FAIR-TO-MIDDLING SHADE TREE MECHANIC CAN UNDERTAKEN--IT REALLY REQUIRES A DEALERSHIP. I AM AFRAID THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE, WHEN THEY FIND OUT THE COST OF REPLACING THE BULB, WILL SIMPLY SAY TO HELL WITH IT. THE SAFETY HAZARDS CAUSED BY THAT IS INTUITIVELY OBVIOUS TO EVEN THE MOST CASUAL OBSERVER. 2010 CADILLAC DTS. CONSUMER STATES SERIOUS DESIGN FLAWS IN VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEAD REST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO ADJUST THE HEAD REST, WHICH WAS TILTED FORWARD WHICH MADE SITTING ALL THE WAY BACK IN THE SEAT IMPOSSIBLE. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MECHANIC TURNED THE HEAD REST BACKWARDS SO THAT IT WOULD NOT STRIKE THE PASSENGER'S HEAD. ALSO, THE REAR SEAT BELTS WERE DIFFICULT TO FASTEN. THE DEALERSHIP DID CONFIRM THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE REAR SEAT BELTS. THE MOUNTING BRACKETS FOR THE SEAT BELTS WERE NOT LONG ENOUGH. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER AGREED TO REIMBURSE HIM FOR THE COST OF EXTENDING THE SHANK OF THE SEAT BELT AND SECURING THE HEAD REST THAT HAD TO BE TURNED BACKWARDS SO THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER COULD SIT IN THE VEHICLE COMFORTABLY. I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 40-45 MPH COMING TO AN INTERSECTION. TRAFFIC LIGHT WAS RED AND SOME CARS WAITING. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND PUT IT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE APPROACHING THE STOPPED TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO BRAKE BUT THE PEDAL WENT SOFT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS DRIVING A 2008 CADILLAC DTS , AND I HIT THE CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS A FAILURE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 5,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I AM REPORTING THIS TO MY CADILLAC DEALER ON MON 22 OF FEB, 2010. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NO KNOWN INJURIES TO OCCUPANTS OF THE OTHER CAR.
