TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FUEL LINE FAILURE TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT ADVISED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE FUEL LINES WERE CRACKED AND LEAKING FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FUEL LINES WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V110000 (FUEL LEAKAGE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,468, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,616.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE DRIVER HEARD A LOUD SOUND UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. HE THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD AND THE FENDER. HE PARKED THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE HOOD, AND NOTICED SMALL FLAMES COMING FROM THE ENGINE COVER. THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE CONTACT PUSHED THE VEHICLE BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE MAY BE A RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V110000, NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA04003 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CASE WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED INTO THE CADILLAC LEGAL DEPARTMENT. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THERE WAS INSIGNIFICANT INFORMATION THAT PROVED THERE WAS REALLY A DEFECT. THE LETTER FURTHER STATED THAT HE NEEDED AN EXPERT TO INSPECT AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE, IN ADDITION TO ANY WORK ORDERS. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 103,000.

AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A BULLETIN FROM GENERAL MOTORS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V110000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE NOTICE PERTAINED TO THE FUEL RAIL THAT COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN DEGRADATION AND/OR POSSIBLE FIRE. THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED FOR FREE. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE WAS PRESENT IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT TO THE POINT WHERE OCCUPANTS WERE EXPERIENCING HEADACHES. THE CONTACT LATER FOUND GASOLINE LEAKING IN HEAVY QUANTITIES 12 INCHES FROM THE FUEL RAIL. GENERAL MOTORS STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THAT PARTICULAR COMPONENT OF THE GASOLINE LINE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 162,000.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTY; THEREFORE THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING $3500 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CALLED. AUGUST 23, 2007, ON OR ABOUT 12:00 NOON TODAY I WAS DRIVING MY CAR. 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE STS NORTHSTAR WITH 117,000 MILES. MY CAR STARTED TO HESITATE AND WASNT RUNNING RIGHT. I PULLED OVER AND PARKED. SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT OF MY HOOD AND INSIDE THE CAR. THE SMOKE IN THE CAR SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING ON FIRE. I CALLED MY HUSBAND AND MY SON. MY SON CAME ( WE WERE ABOUT MILE FROM HOME) AND TRIED TO GET IT HOME, DIDNT WORK. AS MY SON WAS DRIVING SMOKE ALSO WAS COMING INSIDE THE CAR. SO WE STOPPED AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE DRIVER TOWED US HOME. WHILE HE WAS HERE HE WAS CKING MY CAR AND LOOKED UNDER IT AND SAW A RED AMBER VIBRANT GLOW COMING FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND SMOKE WAS GOING INTO MY CAR. HE SHOWED IT TO ME VERY FAST, IT LOOKED LIKE A HOT HEATING ELEMENT IN AN ELECTRIC OVEN. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH AND HE IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND GET AWAY FROM IT. IT LOOKED LIKE THE CAR WAS READY TO BLOW UP! MY HUSBAND CH'D IT LATER WHEN COOL AND FOUND WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF THE CAR RUNNING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WAS IN THE GARAGE AND QUICKLY ROLLED IT OUT SO IF IT CAUGHT FIRE IT WOULDNT BE IN THE HOUSE, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND FELT AROUND THE FLOOR ,CENTER CONSOLE ALL HOT TO THE TOUCH. HE TOOK A HOSE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR AND SPRAYED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO COOL IT DOWN, OPENED UP THE DOORS TO TRY AND AIR OUT THE CAR AS IT HAD FILLED WITH SMOKE. WE CALLED THE TOW TRUCK BACK TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT HE HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND THAT WE WOULD NEED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER THAT COSTS AROUND $1,000.00 AND WOULD SEE IF HE COULD GET IT UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER ANY WARRANTY. MY CAR GAVE ME ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OR SIGNAL OF ANY PROBLEM. ON AUGUST 24, 2007 I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO GM (FILE #71-550478818), THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD DO NOTHING AND REPORT ME AS DIS-SATISFIED. WE HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AND PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALER ON AUGUST 29,2007.

'TAKATA RECALL' I WAS DRIVING MY 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE OUT OF A SHOP-RITE PARKING LOT ON SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2017 AND WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. I WAS DRIVING VERY SLOWLY AS I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND ROUTE 46 (A BUSY HIGHWAY). MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY AND I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIRBAGS SMASHED THE WINDSHIELD. ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 98V115000, 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE 'PASSENGER VEHICLES INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS CAN OCCUR DUE TO WATER INTRUSION.' I THEN CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS WHO STATED THAT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. THEY PERFORMED AN INVESTIGATION AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME WITH THE REPAIRS BUT REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REASON. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE: 'FRONTAL AIRBAGS ARE GENERALLY DESIGNED TO DEPLOY IN 'MODERATE/SEVERE' FRONTAL OR NEAR-FRONTAL CRASHES, WHICH ARE DEFINED AS CRASHES THAT ARE EQUIVALENT TO HITTING A SOLID, FIXED BARRIER AT 8-14 MPH OR HIGHER. (THIS WOULD BE EQUIVALENT TO STRIKING A PARKED CAR OF SIMILAR SIZE AT ABOUT 16-28 MPH OR HIGHER.)' SINCE I WAS GOING MUCH SLOWER THAN 8-14 MPH, I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AND GM IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO ASSIST ME OR ADVISE ME?

DT: ON MAY 15, 2004, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A TURN N BOTH FRONTAL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THIS CAUSED HIM TO MISJUDGE THE MEDIUM. THERE WAS NO CRASH OR INJURIES. THERE WAS MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS TOTALED. THE CONSUMER FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL 98V115000 FOR THE AIRBAGS. BUT WHEN HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY TOLD HIM THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THE CONSUMER FOUND INFORMATION THAT SAID THAT VIN FELL WITHIN THE VIN RANGE WITHOUT A DOUBT. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL TO THE CONSUMER. *AK

IN THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS ALL SYSTEMS ON THE VEHICLE SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILE PER HOUR. DIFFICULTY WAS EXPERIENCED IN BRINGING THE CAR TO A STOP AND STEERING IT TO A SAFE PARKING PLACE. THE STARTER WOULD NOT WORK NOR WOULD ANY OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. IN TWO INCIDENCES THE CAR STARTED AFTER 15 TO 30 MINUTES AND RAN PROPERLY. THE AGENCY'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT DETECT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. IN THE LAST INCIDENCE THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE AGENCY. IN EACH CASE THE WEATHER WAS WARM.*AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AFTERWARDS, THE ABS AND ENGINE LIGHTS BEGAN ILLUMINATING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

FOUR VOGUE/GOODYEAR TIRES WITH 9/32NDS TREAD WEAR/MANUFACTURED SOMETIMES AFTER 1998 PROBLEM EXISTS WITH TREAD WEAR/DRY ROT, TIRE TREAD SPLITTING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG FUEL ODOR EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 04V110000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BUT THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS, I BEGAN TO DETECT A FAINT ODOR OF GASOLINE WHICH SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I KEPT DETECTING THIS ODOR OFF AND ON FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. THEN ONE DAY I WAS SURPRISED AND CONFUSED TO SEE MY GAS GAUGE MOVING STEADILY TOWARD EMPTY AS I DROVE ALONG. I THOUGHT THE GAUGE WAS BROKEN, BUT IT WAS NOT. INSTEAD, IN ABOUT TWO MILES, I HAD JETTISONED AN ENTIRE TANK OF GASOLINE AS I DROVE. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A RUPTURED PLASTIC LINE LEADING TO ONE OF THE FUEL INJECTORS. SINCE THAT TIME, EACH OF THE FUEL LINES HAS RUPTURED ONE BY ONE EVERY 2 - 10 MONTHS FOR FIVE YEARS. THEN I LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL. I HAVE SEEN THE RECALL LETTER WHICH STATES ALL 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLES HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND MINE CERTAINLY DOES. THE DEALER AND GM SAY MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I HAVE FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH GM AND THEY STILL REFUSE TO FIX MY CAR, STATING THAT MY VIN# DOESN'T SHOW UP ON THEIR LIST. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CADILLAC SEVILLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS SHORT AND UNABLE TO BE FASTENED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE SEATBELT FASTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE SEAT BELT EXTENDER WOULD BE NEEDED HOWEVER, IT WAS DISCONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,600.

WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMER SMELLED FUEL. THE FUEL RAIL DEVELOPED A LEAK, AND FUEL LEAKED ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *AK THE FUEL RAIL CROSS OVER PIPE BETWEEN THE FUEL INJECTORS, DEVELOPED A PRESSURE FUEL LEAK, AS A RESULT THE FUEL SPRAYED ONTO THE ENGINE. GM CLAIMED TO HAVE NO RECORD OF THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE CONSUMER PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, HE NOTICED THE DEALER HADN'T INSTALLED THE IDENTICAL PART. THE DEALER STATED GM CHANGED THE PART DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL RAIL. THERE WAS A NOISE IN THE ENGINE AREA DUE TO A FAILED WATER PUMP. THE TAIL LAMP BULBS FAILED ALSO. *SCC *JB

SOON AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE, ABS/TRACTION DISABLED MESSAGE KEEPS COMING ON AND THE PEDAL WILL KICK BACK. WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN MORE THAN 10 TIMES AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIX IT. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE COMPUTER CHIP AND WIRING HARNESS AND IT STILL OCCURS. SOMETIMES JUST BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE IT HAPPENS. HAVE HAD ONLY ONE PANIC STOP AND THE ABS DID NOT SEEM TO WORK AS THE CAR SKIDDED AND STEERING CONTROL WAS LOST. WE ARE GRAVELY CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THAT SAFETY ISSUES EXIST. A YEAR LATER, WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED SATISFACTION FROM THE DEALER WHO IS SERVICING IT.
