THE SERVICE AIRBAGS WARNING APPEARED ON MY CAR. IT WAS JUST PARKED FOR 2 DAYS AND WHEN I GOT IN IT TURNED ON. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT HAS OCCURRED WITH MULTIPLE PEOPLE.

AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DIC INDICATES THE AIR BAG REQUIRES SERVICE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS SHOT. THE AIR BAGS ARE DISABLED AND IT'S A THOUSAND DOLLAR REPAIR AT THE DEALER. RARELY DOES ANYBODY SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT APPEARS THAT THIS PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR IS A COMMON FAILURE IN OTHER GM MODELS AS WELL.

. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME OWNING A CADILLAC AND I MUST SAY I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! IT IS A 2007 STS SO IT IS OLDER BUT IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY AROUND 65,000 MILES ON IT. HOWEVER I HAVE BEEN VERY RECENTLY DISAPPOINTED BY THE SERVICE RESPONSE FROM MY AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. I RECENTLY NOTICED MY AIR BAG LIGHT SENSOR WAS INTERMITTENTLY TURNING ON AND OFF AND IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT INTO EARNHARDT CADILLAC OF SCOTTSDALE FOR FEAR OF A SAFETY ISSUE. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM STEVEN FROM SERVICES WHO EXPLAINED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BEFORE HE COULD EVEN FURTHER DIAGNOSE THE AIR BAG WIRING ISSUE. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE HARNESS ITSELF WOULD BE $485 AND ONLY ONCE HE REPAIRED THAT WOULD HE BE ABLE TO FURTHER EVALUATE THE AIR BAG ISSUE. I ASKED IF CADILLAC STANDS BEHIND THE REPAIR OF SUCH A SAFETY CONCERN AND HE SAID ONLY UNDER THE WARRANTY AND ALSO STATED THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THIS CAR MODEL. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED TO HEAR A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE WOULD HAVE SUCH A HORRIFIC SAFETY ISSUE THAT CADILLAC IS NOT WILLING TO REPAIR OR REPLACE. I'M REACHING OUT TO YOU TO SEE IF INDEED THAT IS THE CASE OR IF CADILLAC WOULD BE WILLING TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY HAZARD. I HAD A HONDA SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND THE AIR BAG WAS REPLACED IMMEDIATELY FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS. I'M HOPING CADILLAC WOULD STAND BEHIND ITS REPUTATION AND DO THE SAME. IT APPEARS AS IF THERE ARE SEVERAL IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CAR MODEL AND EVEN SOME HORRIFIC DAMAGE TO PASSENGERS WHEN THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS SAFETY ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.

ON MANY OCCASIONS, MY 2007 CADILLAC STS EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME IGNITION PROBLEM AS OTHER MORE POPULAR MODELS OF THE 2007 CADILLAC. THIS PROBLEM CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SUDDENLY QUIT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SERIOUS DANGER TO BEING HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER YOU ARE DRIVING AT 20 MPH OR 65 MPH. I HAVE A 2007 CADILLAC STS - TOP OF THE LINE CAR. AT 800 MILES, I HAD TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE PUT IN THE CAR AND NOW AT 4,000 MILES, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FAIL, WITH OUT ANY WARNING. THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TOTALLY SHUTS DOWN, THE HYDRAULIC SYTEMS FAILS AND THE ENGINE IS OBVIOUSLY OFF. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY FAILURE OR ANY WARNING, THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SIMPLY SHUTS OFF - COMPLETELY. EMERGENCY FLASHERS DO NOT WORK, THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE TRUNK FOR SAFETY MATERIAL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CADILLAC STS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS INADVERTENTLY DEPRESSED INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE CRASH OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO BE OF ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON TWO OCCASIONS AND WAS TOWED AND REPAIRED BOTH TIMES. THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT PART WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS ELECTRICAL. #1 THE ABOVE MENTIONED VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN CHICAGO ON DECEMBER 22, 2009. THE ODOMETER READ 29,832 MILES. WHEN THE CAR WAS DRIVEN BACK TO MARYLAND, A MARYLAND VEHICLE INSPECTION WAS REQUIRED. THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED THE INSPECTION. #2 OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, CONDENSATION BUILT UP INSIDE BOTH THE HEADLIGHTS. IN THE PAST MONTH, I NOTICED THERE WAS ONE INCH OF WATER IN THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT. THE WATER HAS NOW SHORTED OUT THE LIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS A DEFECT AND I HAVE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON CAR FORUMS ON THE INTERNET. CADILLAC WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE CAR NOW HAS 63,000 MILES. WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK THE NIGHT BEFORE. INITIALLY I THOUGHT PERHAPS IT WAS A BAD BATCH OF GASOLINE. I WENT TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL A GAS. AFTER I FILLED THE CAR I SAW BIG SPOT UNDERNEATH OF MY CAR OF GASOLINE. I WENT UNDER THE CAR I SAW SOME GASOLINE COLOR ON THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER REFUSED TO FIX IT UNDER THE CLAIMED RECALL.

I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. I STARTED GOING UP THE DRIVEWAY, I FELT THE CAR LURCH FOREWARD. I THOUGHT I WAS SLAMMING ON THE BRAKE, BUT HIT THE GAS INSTEAD. THE CAR CRASHED INTO THE HOUSE MOVING THE CONCRETE BLOCK. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I BROKE MY NECK AT C4 AND C5. I HAVE SEEN 3 REPORTS ON THIS SITE DETAILING THE SAME. MY WIFE WENT TO THE LOCAL GAS STATION AND AS SHE WAS PULLING IN SHE MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN PAST THE PUMPS TO PARK. SHE HIT THE BRAKES AND THE CAR SPED UP. SHE SLAMMED THEM HARDER AND IT SLIGHTLY SLOWED DOWN BUT SHE HIT 2 GUARD RAILS AND THEN CRASHED INTO THE CINDERBLOCK WALL DESTROYING THE FRONT BUMPER, BOTH FRONT FENDERS, HEADLIGHTS AND THE INTERNAL ALUMINUM BUMPER WAS CRUSHED AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF BUT SHE WAS NOT HURT. SHE SAID THE CAR SPED UP WHILE THE BRAKES WERE DEPLOYED. ALSO, AFTER SHE HIT THE WALL SHE TRIED TO PUT THE CARD IN REVERSE BUT SHE HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO ACTUALLY GO IN REVERSE. THE CAR IS AT THE MECHANIC BEING FIXED AT THIS TIME BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SPEEDING UP INSTEAD OF STOPPING WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED... THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY SAID IT WAS UP TO ME TO FIND THE CAUSE. SOMEONE FROM CADILLAC OR NHTSA NEEDS TO COME AND LOOK AT THIS BEFORE THE CAR IS FIXED. *TR

THIS CADILLAC MAKE & MODEL DOES NOT HAVE AN AMERICAN ENGINE, A FACT THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME UPON PURCHASE. THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST AND DEALERSHIP WOULD MESS WITH WIRES UNDER SEAT AND SOMEHOW GET THE LIGHT TO GO OFF AND TELL ME IT WAS THE AIRBAGS THAT WOULD MAKE THE SENSOR GO OFF. THEN WHEN I PAY MY LAST NOTE AND GET TO 100,000 THEY DECIDE TO REVEAL TO ME THAT THE SAME ENGINE LIGHT DEFECT MEANS REAL ENGINE PROBLEMS. SO AFTER LETTING TWO MORE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MECHANICS DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM I WAS TOLD BY BOTH THAT THIS WAS NOT AN AMERICAN ENGINE BUT A VERY CHEAP GERMAN ENGINE AND THAT THEY HAD A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH SOME HAVING TO SELL THEIR CAR FOR SCRAP METAL. I AM VERY UPSET TO SAY THE LEAST AND WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER CADILLAC. I WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT OTHER CADILLAC OWNERS THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM AND BRING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. *TR

TIMING CHAIN FAILURES UNDER 30,000 MILES ARE PREVALENT ON MANY GM 3.6L MOTORS AND THEY HAVE SENT OUT A LETTER EXPLAINING THAT "UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS AND WITH EXTENDED OIL CHANGE INTERVALS, THE TIMING CHAIN CAN WEAR PREMATURELY CAUSING THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON"... THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF THESE FAILURES DOCUMENTED ON THE AUTO BLOGS/FORUMS.. AND THIS IS A BLATANT ATTEMPT BY GM TO CHANGE THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND CAUSE MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES IN AND EFFORT TO GET ENGINES TO LAST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY (ALL MOST ALL ARE FAILING WITHIN WARRANTY. I RECEIVED A LETTER ON MARCH 14TH, 2011 FROM MR. [XXX], GENERAL DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER SERVICE, ASKING ME TO BRING THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE ECM MODIFIED TO PREVENT FAILURE OF A KNOWN DESIGN PROBLEM... TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CADILLAC STS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AS SHE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE THEN ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY CAUSING THAT VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE CONTACTS HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. 2007 CADILLAC STS BOUGHT AS A DEMO IN FLORIDA IN APRIL, WITH ABOUT 3,500 MILES ON IT: I TOLD THE SALESMAN THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE USED EXCLUSIVELY AT MY CONNECTICUT ADDRESS AND I WOULD BE DRIVING IT THERE SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. MY COMPLAINTS ARE FIRST WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE IN FLORIDA, AND SUBSEQUENTLY, WITH THE FAILURE TO REPAIR ISSUES BOTH IN FLORIDA AND NOW CONNECTICUT. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH THE AGREEMENT THAT IT WOULD BE MADE 'AS NEW AS POSSIBLE.' THIS WAS TO INCLUDE A NEW BATTERY (SINCE IT WAS DEAD IN THE SHOWROOM), THE OIL WOULD BE CHANGED, AND ALL THE DOOR AND DASH SCUFFS WOULD BE REMOVED. THE BATTERY HAS FINALLY BEEN REPLACED HERE AFTER FAILING TWICE, THE SCUFFS THEY FIXED IN FLORIDA KEEP COMING RIGHT BACK ON THE DOORS AND DASH, AND I JUST PAID FOR THE OIL CHANGE THAT NEVER TOOK PLACE FOR THE SALE. THE DAY I DROVE THE CAR OFF, THE SALESMAN INDICATED THEY 'TOPPED IT OFF.' IT WAS INTO SERVICE AT LEAST THREE TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP IN FLORIDA. IT HAS ALREADY BEEN IN FOR SERVICE THREE DAYS HERE IN CONNECTICUT, MY LAST VISIT TO SERVICE WAS FOR TWO DAYS, AND NOTHING WAS DONE OR SOLVED. THE VOICE COMMAND SYSTEM JUST DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. IT CONTINUES TO HEAR ME INCORRECTLY, OR HEARS/REPEATS ME CORRECTLY BUT THEN DOES NOT DO WHAT IT SAYS. AS YOU USE THE WHEEL BUTTON TO PROGRESS THROUGH THE SIX PRESETS AND GO BACK TO THE FIRST, IT SKIPS OVER THE FIRST AND SOMETIMES THE SECOND BUTTON. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THE VOLUME PERIODICALLY TAKES OFF WITH INCREASING LOUDNESS UNCONTROLLABLY. IN ANY CASE, THEY TELL ME THAT CORPORATE IS AWARE OF THE VOICE PROBLEMS AND HAS BEEN TRYING TO COME UP WITH A SOFTWARE FIX. TO MY THINKING, THIS IS AN '07 AND THEY HAVEN'T COME UP WITH A FIX FOR IT YET? IF IT HASN'T BEEN FIXED YET, IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN LATE IN '08 AND THEY CLAIM I AM NOT ALONE WITH THESE ISSUES! *TR

I WAS LEAVING GREENVILLE, S.C.AND THE LEFT SIDE BRAKES LOCK AND PULLED ME INTO THE LEFT LANE OF TRAFFIC AND I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THE CAR FREE ROLLED FOR A SHORT DISTANCE WHILE I GOT BACK IN MY LANE. I REAPPLIED THE GAS AND GOT BACK UP TO TWENTY-FIVE MPH AND THE RIGHT SIDE BRAKES LOCKED. I WAS ONLY GOING APPROXIMATELY TWENTY FIVE MPH WHEN ALL OF THIS OCCURRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CADILLAC CTS V-SERIES. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN WET CONDITIONS, THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE TURNED LEFT AND STRUCK A CURB. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE BRAKE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VEER ACROSS THE STREET, JUMP A CURB, AND CRASH THROUGH A ROD IRON FENCE. THE CONTACT WAS UNINJURED. AFTER THE CRASH, THE CONTACT LOOKED AT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS COVERED IN GREASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT ONCE THE DIFFERENTIAL FAILS, THE VEHICLE THINKS THAT THE ANTILOCK BRAKES HAVE BEEN APPLIED. THEREFORE, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO THE ONE MENTIONED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V589000 (POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT:SEAL). THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT HE HAS NOT YET RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE CRASH. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 22,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CADILLAC STS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN SOMEONE OF A HEAVIER WEIGHT SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. HE ALSO STATED THAT BECAUSE THE AIR BAG WAS NOT ACTIVATED, THE SEAT BELT CHIME THAT INDICATES THE SEAT BELTS WERE NOT IN USE, WOULD NOT WORK EITHER. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE AT LEAST SIX TIMES AND TOOK THE VEHICLE THERE AS WELL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.

THIS ONE SEEMED TO BE THE MOST DANGEROUS. ON RANDOM AND UNPREDICTABLE OCCASIONS WHILE MAKING A SHARP TURN ON DRY PAVEMENT AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEED AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THE STABILITY SYSTEM ACTIVE MESSAGE OR TRACTION ACTIVE MESSAGE WOULD BE DISPLAYED ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER AND THE CAR WOULD LOSE POWER TO ALL 4 WHEELS AND SLOW ALMOST TO A STOP EVEN WHILE THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED - IT WOULD SEEM TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION! ON MAY 26, 2007 R.C. OLSEN CADILLAC REPLACED THE YAW SENSOR TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM , BUT EVIDENTLY THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH I CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE AT RANDOM, INFREQUENTLY, AND UNPREDICTABLE OCCASIONS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A SLIGHT LOOSENESS IN THE STEERING WHEN TURNED WHICH USUALLY OCCURS AT LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 5 MPH) AT THE BEGINNING OF A SHARP TURN WITH PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE STEERING WHEEL (MOST OFTEN OCCURS WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS PULLED TOWARD THE DRIVER). IT FEELS LIKE A 1/8 INCH "SLIP" OR "JERK" IN THE WHEEL. THE OCCURRENCE IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN TURNING WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR WHEN MAKING AN INITIAL TURN AFTER BEING STOPPED. IT HAPPENS IN FORWARD AND REVERSE BUT I SEEM TO NOTICE IT MORE IN REVERSE BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN I SEEM TO BE PUTTING REARWARD PRESSURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TURNING. I SUSPECT THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE SOMEHOW RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC ADJUSTMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. NOTE HOWEVER THAT ON MY MOST RECENT SERVICE VISIT ON JUNE 27, 2007, WOODWARD CADILLAC OF ANDOVER, MA FOUND THAT THE FRONT END WAS SEVERELY OUT OF LINE AND SUBSEQUENTLY PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT ON THE CAR WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT SEEMED TO SLIGHTLY IMPROVE IT - THAT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE ORIGINATING FROM THE FRONT END OR RACK. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON THIS ISSUE 5 TIMES ALL WITH THE RESULT THAT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE COULD NOT FIX IT. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS MISALIGNED , OFF CENTER. *AK
