What we collect

• VIN searches — decoded VINs may be logged anonymously to power "recent checks" and improve coverage. License plates you enter are not stored by us.
• Usage data — standard server logs: IP, browser, device and pages viewed.
• Cookies — for site function, analytics and advertising (see below).

How we use it

To run and improve the VIN decoder, recall, safety, window-sticker and plate-lookup tools, keep the service secure, and show relevant advertising. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Cookies, ads & third parties

• Advertising — we use Google AdSense, which may set cookies to serve and measure ads. You can manage ad personalization in your Google Ad Settings.
• Analytics — privacy-respecting analytics to understand usage.
• Vehicle-history partner — links to a full-report partner (e.g. EpicVIN) are affiliate links; if you click through and purchase, we may earn a commission. The partner handles its own data under its own policy.

You can control or block cookies in your browser; some features may stop working if you do.

Vehicle-owner data

ForCar never collects, shows or sells a vehicle owner's name, address or contact details. Owner information is protected by the federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA).
