My car has no heat on the passenger side causing window fogging this is the 3 time I have had the car in at the dealers and they say it's a clogged heater core I have the extended warranty. The dealer said the warranty is no longer covering heater cores when it should a recall with so many complaints.Barkau Chrysler Dodge jeep Ram at 700 East South Street Freeport IL 61032 1-815-232-5141. Please help as I have Renard's andi can get frost bite and loose my feet or hands Not only is it a safety issue but a health issue can't upload my dealership note

Just got this car from the dealers used with only 97000 miles and first time I used the heat and I have no heat on right side of car just drivers side vent. Not even the center vents blow hot air. Please help

The right side of my cars heating does not work. There is only 1 vent (the driver left vent closest to the window) that actually blows luke warm air, but all the other vents blow ice cold air. This happens with the heater turn all the way up.

Window Defrost and Passenger Side Heat/Air. Either while in motion or while driving, no heated air exits the passenger side of the windshield defroster, nor the passenger window defrost, lower and center console vents. Heated air only exits the driver's side windshield and driver's side dash vents. This results in the passenger side of the front windshield being fogged up and low visibility. Problem persists through all cabin air modes and circulations. This safety issue effects visibility and passenger safety by failing to defrost/defog windows and keeping cabin tempuratures near or below freezing during cold weather (blowing cold air into the cabin). I've looked online and there are many reports of this problem, including Dealer Star Case - S1207000008, and multiple dialogs on various forums (like https://www.avengerforumz.com/threads/passenger-side-no-heat-from-vents.60250/). There's a picture showing the sludge within the heater core - I'll copy and include that picture below. This is completely a manufacturing defect, and it affects the safety and drivability of the vehicle. Please feel free to contact me, if you need additional information. Thank you.

It seems to be a common issue that I'm experiencing as well. When I turn the heat on it only blows hot on the driver side. So depending on the weather conditions, it may completely fog up the passenger side of my window. Making it dangerous for driving when you're trying to defrost a window with cold air.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an auto repair shop where it was diagnosed that there was an open circuit in the front driver’s side air bag squib. The contact was informed that the air bag squib needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 227,000.

My driver side Headrest suddenly deployed while sitting at a red light. It struck me in the back of my head, this caused me to lurch forward and almost being hit by oncoming traffic. Dodge denied me replacement saying it was out of any warranty. They did not even look at it and told me it would cost me $850 to replace. No warning lights or signs that this was going to happen before it deployed. I still need to call my Insurance company to see what can be done.

WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL FOR OUR 2012 DODGE AVENGER THAT OUR SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS MAY NOT WORK IN A CRASH. OF COURSE WE WERE VERY CONCERNED AS THIS WAS OUR ONLY CAR. WHEN WE CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY RECALL FIXED, THEY LIED AND TOLD US IT WOULD TAKE A WHILE FOR THE PARTS TO BECOME AVAILABLE. WE GOT TIRED OF WAITING AND WENT TO TRADE THIS CAR IN FOR A TOYOTA. WE WERE SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT THIS SAFELY RECALL WAS STAMPED WITH "NO FIX" AVAILABLE. DODGE WILL NOT FIX THIS ISSUE AND WE LOST OVER $7,000 IN TRADE IN VALUE DUE TO THIS "NO FIX" SAFETY RECALL. My TIPM is failing. Due to this, my vehicle stalls randomly with no repair codes being shown after stalling. Everything from the battery to the catalytic converter has been replaced to no avail. I even almost was killed on the freeway coming home from work one morning because the vehicle stalled after running fine for a couple of weeks. This has been going on for almost a year and I have replaced so many things on this car I basically should have just cut my losses and purchased a new one.

MY 2012 DODGE AVENGER HAS CONTINUED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, THE FIRST IS THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS. THEY WON'T ROLL DOWN OR ONCE DOWN WON'T ROLL UP. SECOND MY INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN TURN ON BY THEMSELVES AND FLICKER, THIRD, FLICKERING. I HAVE TRIED REPLACING THESE POSSIBLE BROKEN PARTS BUT IT HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEMS.

2012 AVENGER SE WITH JUST UNDER 100K MILES. THE HEAT IS NOT WORKING. BLOWING COLD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND BARELY HEATING UP ON THE DRIVER SIDE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ON SEVERAL MESSAGE BOARDS, THIS IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER ISSUE WITH THE HEATER CORE. I HAVE FLUSHED THE SYSTEM MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT IS NOT GETTING BETTER. THIS ISSUE IS NOT DUE TO NOT MAINTAINING THE CAR. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND I HAVE CALLED DODGE AND WAS NOT GIVEN ANY ASSISTANCE. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE CARS HAVING THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE.

HEAT ONLY WORKS ON DRIVERS SIDE PART OF THE TIME. HAVE FOUND OUT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT WITH THE HEATER CORE. WITH NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE I CAN NOT DRIVE MY CAR IN THE WINTER. I CAN NOT DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD DUE TO NO HEAT AND IF I AM DRIVING IN SNOW OR FREEZING WET TEMPERATURES MY WINDSHIELD W FREEZES UP. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM I HAVE HAD SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2018. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AND FOUND OUT IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. FILED A COMPLAINT WITH DODGE AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC WHICH WOULD BE CHARGED TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. HAVE READ THAT MANY AVENGER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH NO REAL FIX BY DODGE. IT IS A HEATER CORE DEFECT. WHICH IS OVER A $1,000 FIX THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR DUE TO IT BEING A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2012 DODGE AVENGER R/T. LIKE MANY OTHER AVENGERS, THE HEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING. I GET NOTHING BUT COLD AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I'VE DONE MY RESEARCH, AND THIS IS A MANAFACTURER DEFECT THAT RESULTS FROM BAD CASTING THAT CAUSES METAL FLAKES TO BREAK OFF AND FILL UP THE HEATER CORE UNTIL IT BECOMES SO CLOGGED THAT IT STOPS WORKING PROPERLY. A SIMPLE FLUSH WILL NOT DO THE JOB, AND THE HEATER CORE MUST BE REPLACED. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I HIGHLY BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, DUE TO THE FACT THAT VISIBILITY IS SEVERELY DECREASED IN WINTER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. THIS NOT ONLY PUTS THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS IN DANGER, BUT OTHER VEHICES AND PEDESTRIANS AS WELL.

I HAVE A 2012 DODGE AVENGER WITH APPROXIMATELY 76200 MILES ON IT. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT MY TRANSMISSION MADE A CLUNKING SOUND AND MY VEHICLE WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR BUT THE RPMS BUT JUMP UP TO ABOUT 7000 AND STAY THERE. I WAS ON A FOUR LANE ROADWAY GOING THROUGH A CITY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ENDED UP MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH 76,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. TRANSMISSION ISSUES SEEM TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE DODGE AVENGERS. AND OF COURSE WHEN I CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER CARE THEY STATED THEY CAN DO NOTHING FOR ME ON ANY KIND OF REIMBURSEMENT. TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 76000 MILES! VERY DISAPPOINTED IN DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM.

I WAS DRIVING 35 MPH ON A STREET WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AND THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING THE WHEEL BECAME VERY STIFF AND THE BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING. I MANAGED TO TURN THE WHEEL ENOUGH TO MAKE A TURN ON A NON BUSY STREET AND MANAGED TO PUT IT IN PARK ONCE IT STOPPED ROLLING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE STARTING IT UP TO HEAD TO THE MECHANIC UP THE ROAD TO THE MECHANIC. DIAGNOSTIC SAYS CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS TEMPORARILY REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER. RECALL S61 OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. I WAS NOTIFIED OCTOBER OF 2016 OF THIS RECALL, STATING THE FIX WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR. MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON IN JANUARY. A LOCAL AUTOSHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE RECALL. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE FIX BECAME AVAILABLE IN JUNE, DIDNT OFFER TO HELP GET ME INTO A SAFER VEHICLE. THEY JUST SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE AT THE TIME. COME JUNE, THE FIX WAS PUSHED TILL AUGUST. I'M IN TOUCH WITH THE DEALERSHIP NOW, AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT PARTS ARE ON HOLD, AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR CHRYSLER TO RELEASE THE PARTS. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME AT ALL TIMES. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND CHRYSLER IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM IN A TIMELY MANNER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT FORWARD DOWN A FLAT THREE-LANE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS GOING ABOUT 45-50 MILES PER HOUR. THE DRIVER FELL ASLEEP AND IT CROSSED TWO LANES AND ROLLED MULTIPLE TIMES DOWN A 30 FOOT EMBANKMENT. IT CAME TO A REST RIGHT SIDE UP. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DESPITE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE. IN THE SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS THERE WAS INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AFFECTING INTERIOR LIGHTING AND POWER WINDOW FUNCTIONING THAT COULDN'T BE IDENTIFIED.

THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY DODGE AS IT POSES A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A FREEWAY.

MY AVENGER HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM AN OUTSIDE SOURCE BUT THAT COMPANY WILL NOT COVER DODGE CREATED MALFUNCTIONS. THE ATTACHED INFO SHOWS MY AVENGER AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP ON 03-06-2019. I ALSO HAD IT SERVICED IN WICHITA AT PR AUTOGLASS AND AUTO SERVICES JUST PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO DODGE DEALERSHIP. PR AUTOGLASS AND SERVICES STATED IT IS THE HEATER CORE AND THAT THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FLUSHED OUT AS IT HAS ACCUMULATED IN THE HEATER CORE BLOCKING IT FROM BEING PROFESSIONALLY FLUSHED. THE RESIDUE WAS ALSO EVIDENT IN THE RADIATOR BUT FLUSHING DID REMOVE THAT THE BEST WE CAN TELL. DODGE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HAVING LEFT THIS DEBRIS IN THE ENGINE BLOCKS DURING THE MACHINING PROCESSES ON AVENGERS.

They advised the ABS module and pump are faulty however there are no repairs available at this time. The most concerning was they advised to continue to drive the vehicle without ABS.

TACHOMETER HAS CLIMBED TO 70 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ONLY DOING 40 MILES PER HOUR. HEADLIGHTS BRIGHTEN AND DIM. SAFETY GAUGES FLASH OFF AND ON. I HAVE A 2012 AVENGER; THE HEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR STOPPED BLOWING HOT AIR. I TOOK THE AVENGER IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WAS FROM CASING SAND CLOGGING THE RADIATOR, HEATER CORE AND THE OIL COOLER. THIS IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. ALSO THE SPRING ON THE ACTUATOR DOOR WAS STICKING AND NOT OPENING PROPERLY ..POOR CONTACT MATERIALS ON THE CONNECTORS FOR THE ACTUATORS!!. IT SEEMS THAT OVER TIME THEY OXIDIZE AND DEVELOP A RESISTANCE THAT ATTENUATES THE SIGNAL BACK TO THE CONTROL. WHEN THE SIGNAL GETS TOO LOW THE CONTROL LOSES TRACK OF THE ACTUATOR POSITION AND KEEPS DRIVING THE MOTOR, RESULTING IN CLICKING OR BROKEN TEETH. IT IS TOUGH TO REACH THE CONNECTOR CONTACTS TO CLEAN THEM- THE CLICKING GOES ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS OFF!!!! PLEASE FIX!

Window Defrost and Passenger Heat /Air. While either in motion or while driving, no heated air exits the passenger side of the windshield defroster, nor the passenger window defrost, lower and center console vents. Heated air only exits the driver's side windshield and driver's side dash vents. Problem persists through all cabin air modes, and circulations. This safety issue effects visibility and passenger safety by failing to defrost/defog windows and keeping cabin tempuratures near or below freezing during cold weather (blowing cold air into the cabin).

THE THROTTLE BODY ON MY CAR HAS TO BE REPLACED. AFTER SPEAKING WITH SEVERAL SHOP OWNERS AND TECHNICIANS, I'VE FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON FAILURE ON LATE MODEL DODGE VEHICLES. IN ADDITION THE THROTTLE FAILURE, HE HAS NO HEAT COMING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. ONLY COLD AIR AS IF SOMETHING IS STUCK OPEN. THIS BEGAN THE LATER PART OF LAST WINTER WHEN THE CAR WAS JUST TWO YEARS OLD. HE JUST DEALT WITH IT AT THE TIME DUE TO LACK OF MONEY. I BOUGHT 4 NEW GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 225/35R17 TIRES ON AUGUST 08/2018 AT A LOCAL GOODYEAR STORE. ON 05/05/2019 MY GRANDDAUGHTER WITH HER ONE YEAR OLD BABY IN THE BACK CAR SEAT. WERE APPROACHING THE FREEWAY, WHILE STILL ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP THE FRONT TIRE TOTALLY BLEW OUT AND DISINTEGRATED. THERE WAS LESS THAN 10% OF TIRE LEFT ON THE WHEEL. SHE PULLED OFF ONTO THE GRASS AND WAITED FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE HIGHWAY PATROL. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE AT ALL TO THE ALUMINUM RIMS, AS SHE DIDN'T DRIVE ANY FARTHER. BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2012 AVENGER SE WITH A 3.6L. THE CAR HAS SHAKEN VIOLENTLY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MPH. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY 6 TIMES FOR THE ISSUE, AND NO FAULTS WE'RE FOUND. I was driving and I stopped at a stop sign. When I got ready to go, the car stalled and stopped and wouldn't start. After 30 minutes, it started but I ended up having it towed. My mechanic was able to replicate it after putting the car in the sun, running it for 10 minutes and then driving it. When the mechanic tried to look at it, he couldn't find anything to cause it to stop. I look it to the dealership. They were unable to replicate it or find the problem. It seems to happen when the car gets hot it stops without warning. Other people in the Dodge Avenger online group have experienced the same thing. The horn also keeps beeping without warning and the airbag sign is on. I think all of these items are connected. This is a HUGE SAFETY issue!!!!!! The engine randomly shuts off, which also causes the brakes to stop working and to have no power steering. Anything connected to the battery is fine (lights, radio, dashboard, etc.). myself, any passenger, and those around me are put at risk by the car shutting off in the middle of the road. Someone could hit me because I am not moving, or I am trying to get out of the way. or I might end up hitting someone else because the brakes don't work. this is a huge risk to life and limb. Noone other than myself has tried to see what is going on with my car, specifically. i have already put out a lot of money on parts that research says it COULD be. other people have had the same complaint about their Dodge vehicles. they have even taken them to many repair shops, with no one finding a real answer as to why this is happening. i would just like a car the safe to drive with my kids in it. as it is i fear for their safety if they were to ride in it. they are no warning lights or messages. I fear for my safety, the safety of my children, and the safety of others on the road around me. This car should really not be on the road without a definite answer to the problem.

While driving for about 50miles, the electrical system failed, I lost power to the entire vehicle, steering was hard, brakes hard as well. as I pulled over, the car started back up. Next day car drove fine. Few days later the car cut off at red light in the middle of the intersection while other cars almost hitting me. Changed the fuel pump out because fuel pump would work at times. No one hurt, no incident report made. Car been intermittently cutting off after I think the car is running fine. No fault codes, no loose connections, no warning the car just cut off. I is becoming very dangerous and scary to drive but its the only vehicle i have and I have been spending money trying to figure this ghost out.

Little to no heat coming from vent on passenger side of cabin. Good hot heat coming from vents on driver side of cabin. Over the last 3 yrs the heater core has been replace 3 times once each year. Hot air came from all vents when replaced but as another comes around, no heat again on passenger side. Good heat on drivers side. Charlies dodge doesn't want to work on it any longer even though there is a valid warranty on the latest heater core replacement. Charlies dodge is claiming something inside the engine is coming apart and clogging the heater core. This makes no sense.

On November 19, 2021 I was a passenger in the above vehicle, which was owned by my ex-husband. We were involved in a 3 car accident when another car cut us off while driving at the speed of 45 mph (posted), with cruise control set. Upon impact with the 2 other vehicles, my seat (the passenger side seat) broke and threw me forward into the front passenger side compartment. Even though the dash airbags deployed, I suffered a catastrophic injury to my leg/ankle that required immediate surgery---had I not had surgery, I would have never walked again. The above vehicle had to be towed due to being a total loss. When my ex-husband went to the salvage yard to retrieve his belongings out of the totaled car, he and his daughter noticed that the front passenger side seat was broke. The vehicle, I believe is no longer available for inspection, since my significant other gave the title to the salvage yard. There has been a recall affecting the seat restraint pretensioners, however, since I did not own said vehicle, I do not know if this one was included in that recall. According to my ex-husband, there was no warning, messages, or other symptoms of a problem before this accident occured. My whole life was changed that evening. I am facing huge medical costs for my recovery---my hospital bill alone was $186,500.00! This does not include follow up visits, physical therapy, and all the pain and suffering I have experienced!

The vehicle will shut off in the middle of driving and you lose complete power to the vehicle. Then after it sits for a few hours it will start back up with no issue. I had my vehicle at the dodge dealership 2 times for them to tell me they can't figure it out and that they get alot of avengers with the same issue. But since it's not throwing a code they aren't able to fix it. I also explained that when it shuts off when you are trying to start the car it sounds like it is going to start but it just keeps turning over but won't start and the lightening bolt light comes on at that time. The dealership said they checked everything to see if it was my battery or alternator but everything they checked was good. They said this is a known problem with these cars and the only thing they can advise is to get rid if the vehicle because there isn't a fix for it. Someone is going to get hurt from this issue I have almost been hit numerous times when the vehicle shuts off with no warning. This has been happening a few times a year the whole time I have had this vehicle

The seats move around as if they are not bolted down properly. Any speed if you hit a small bump or so much as move other then straight it’s extremely noticeable. I don’t think it is safe and my kids are in this car daily and I was hoping a recall would have already been called on this because I know I’m mot the only one with this issue with both front seats moving around as if it’s a carnival ride. And the cruise control stopped working in 2016. Also has always made a weird sound under the hood and come to find out I have had a bad transmission the whole time I have owned this car, also a common issue I have heard from MANY People. Also these cars have several different censor problems that keep having to be replaced as well as energy draining batteries more than they should. The hoses and injectors also have been a major problem. I thought I just got unlucky with my car but everyone I know has soooo many problems with these cars it’s actually crazy they didn’t stop making them sooner. I’m the only driver and owner of this car and drive like a grandma I have been told so I do know it’s not how I have been with the car, also regular oil changes and maintenance as needed on top of thousands to keep her running as I bought it brand new and refuse to let it die on me after it’s paid off.

I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. ALSO, FROM TIME TO TIME, THE AIR CONDITIONER BUTTON WILL NOT WORK. BROUGHT TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY COULDN'T CHECK THE ETC LIGHT DUE TO IT SHUTTING OFF WITH RESTART OF THE VEHICLE BUT WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ALTERNATOR. FIXED THE ALTERNATOR AND NO PROBLEMS AGAIN UNTIL JANUARY 2019. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY AND THE CAR FLASHED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DIED WHILE IN MOTION. POWER STEERING WAS VERY TIGHT BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED BEHIND A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE TRUCK IN FRONT SUDDENLY MOVED AND ALLOWED THE CONTACT TO NOTICE ANOTHER VEHICLE HEADING TOWARDS THEM AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO GAIN CONTROL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE LANDED IN A DITCH ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE'S FRONT FENDER WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INJURIES. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM, PCM, AND ORC FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE RECEIVED A NEW PCM, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. HEATER NOT WORKING. (87,000 MILES) TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $2500 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE COOLANT SYSTEM (HEATER CORE, RADIATOR, OIL COOLER, THERMOSTAT, WATER PUMP). THE TECH ADVISED THERE WAS SOMETHING RESTRICTING FLOW THROUGH THE HEATER CORE. THERE IS A 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY ON THE CAR BUT THEY DO NOT AGREE THAT THE COOLANT SYSTEM THAT COOLS THE ENGINE (POWER TRAIN) SHOULD BE INCLUDED. WHERE DID THE SEDIMENT/SLUDGE COME FROM? POSSIBLY OIL CONTAMINATION FROM THE ENGINE (POWER TRAIN)? THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED IN NUMEROUS MODELS AND DODGE HAS RELEASED A STATEMENT TO THEIR TECHS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE COOLANT SYSTEM BECAUSE THEY KNOW SOMETHING THEY DID IS WRONG. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM GM HAD WITH DEX-COOL WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE BURDENED WITH THE FAILURES OF THE MANUFACTURER TO PROVIDE A QUALITY PRODUCT. I HOPE THIS MATTER IS TAKEN SERIOUSLY AS IT TRULY IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,287 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,250.

MY 2012 DODGE AVENGER HAD RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIRBAGS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED RECALL "N38 REFLASH TIPM." BEFORE THIS RECALL WAS DONE MY VEHICLE HAD NO PROBLEMS. AS SOON AS I DROVE AWAY FROM THE DEALER, MY AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH WAS ON, THE LEFT REAR TURNING LIGHT AND LEFT BRAKE LIGHT NOT WORKING, RIGHT HEADLIGHT NOT WORKING, RIGHT FRONT TURNING SIGNAL NOT WORKING. I LET THE DEALER KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THEY SAID I HAD "TO BRING IT BACK IN BECAUSE IT PROBABLY HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM". THIS IS MORE THAN JUST ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. AFTER HAVING THE LIGHTING DIAGNOSED AND INSPECTED, I AM HAVING TO PAY $1250 FOR TIPM TO BE REPLACED FOR A NEW ONE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE THIS VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING AND ANTI LOCK BRAKES STOPPED WORKING AND THE VEHICLES RPMS WERE AS HIGH AS COULD BE MEASURED BY THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUES MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY SAFELY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE PRIMARY ISSUE. THE CONCERN WITH THIS VEHICLE IS THAT IT HAS THE SAME SIZE ENGINE AND AMP ALTERNATOR AS THE CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT ARE ALREADY UNDER RECALL FOR ALTERNATOR FAILURE 3.6L ENGINE WITH A 160 AMP ALTERNATOR AND THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRING THIS VEHICLE STATES IT IS THE SAME TYPE OF FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS IN MARYLAND,I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE ENTIRE CAR SHUDDERED. THE ROTORS WERE APPARENTLY WARPED AND THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. THE MORE THE BRAKE TEMPERATURE INCREASED THE MORE DIFFICULT IT BECAME TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. MOST OF THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS HIGHWAY OR COUNTRY ROADS, AS I LIVE IN A SUBURBAN AREA. THE BRAKES STILL ACT UP IN FLAT AREAS JUST NOT AS BAD AS THEY DID IN THE MOUNTAINS. I HAVE A SIX SPEED 2.4L, 4 CYLINDER IN THE AVENGER. BEFORE AND AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWNSHIFT HARD BETWEEN 3RD AND 2ND GEAR AND 2ND AND 1ST GEAR. WHEN I BACKED OUT AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, IF YOU DIDN'T WAIT FOR ABOUT THREE SECONDS PRIOR TO ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP THEN BANG INTO GEAR A TAKE OFF. I WAS AT A DEAD STOP AND GO ON THE HWY RUSH OUR I LET OFF THE BRAKE TO EASE ON UP AND MY CAR WENT UNDER INTO A TRUCK DOING OVER $7800.00 IN DAMAGES NO AIRBAGS NONE DEPLOYED I JUST GOT MY CAR FROM THE SHOP ON 8/30. I GOT IN THE CAR STARTED IT AND BACKED UP PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT JOLTED INTO DRIVE NO FOOT ON THE GAS PEDDLE I HAD TO HIT MY BRAKES AGAIN THEN I PROCEEDED HOME. IN LATE JUNE GOT A FLAT TIRE. WHEN I WENT TO PUT ON THE SPARE NOTICED BOTH REAR TIRES HAD WORN THRU THE STEEL ON THE INSIDE SHOULDER. TOOK TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MUST BE THE ALIGNMENT. CAR WAS JUST UNDER THE 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY DATE BUT JUST OVER THE MILEAGE FOR THE WARRANTY. I HAD TO PAY FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND NEW TIRES. ALIGNMENT SHOWED THREE OF THE WHEELS IN SPEC AND THE FOURTH .03 DEGREES OUT OF SPEC WHICH THE DEALER SAID WASN'T ENOUGH OUT TO CAUSE THAT BAD OF WEAR ON THE TIRES. CONTACTED CHRYSLER BUT NO HELP. WENT TO OREGON IN NOVEMBER AND GOT JUST NORTH OF WHERE I WAS GOING AND STOPPED FOR A BREAK AND NOTICED BOTH REAR TIRES WERE WEARING ON THE INSIDE SHOULDERS LIKE BEFORE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP ANOTHER ALIGNMENT AND SET OF TIRES THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR. ALIGNMENT WAS OUT AND HAD TO HAVE CAMBER KITS INSTALLED TO GET ALIGNMENT FIXED. ONCE AGAIN NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER YET. ONE OF THE MECHANIC CAME TO LOOK AT MY CAR AND WHEN I STARTED TO HE KNEW JUST BY THE SOUND IT WAS TO POWER STEERING RESEVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS ALSO A LEAK. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 12/06/2012 AND WAS TOP OFF WITH ATF+4. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO WORK NO ISSUES, IT WASN'T 3PM ON 11/28/2012, MY CAR WAS MAKING THE SAME NOISE AND WHEN I CHECKED AND SAW THAT MY POWER STEERING WAS OUT OF FLUID AGAIN SO WHEN I REFILLED IT IT TOOK A WHOLE QUART. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AND TOOK THE CAR TO THEM AND GOT A RENTAL COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. THE NEXT DAY ON 11/29/2012 I PICK UP MY CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING HIGHT PRESSURE HOSE CRACKED AND WAS REPLACED AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT IS WHY THEY KEEP THE PART IN STOCK ALSO THAT THEY WILL SEE ME BEFORE WINTER IS OVER.
