The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to her residence and then to the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V668000 (Seat Belts, Air Bags) however, the dealer informed the contact that the recall repair was completed by the previous owner in November 2022. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,056.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED FOR AN UNKNOWN ISSUE, THE ORC SENSOR AND AIR BAG INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ORC SENSOR WAS REPLACED TWICE AND THE HEADREST AIR BAG ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BERGSTROM CHRYSLER OF KAUKANUNA (2929 LAWE STREET, KAUKAUNA, WI 54130) REPLACED THE ORC SENSOR A SECOND TIME BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED IT WAS THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WERE FUNCTIONAL AND THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO KEEP THE RECEIPTS FOR POSSIBLE REIMBURSEMENT IF A RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,400.

THIS VEHICLE HAD A SAFETY RECALL OF S61. WORK WAS PERFORMED AND THEN AUR BAG LIGHT AND SIGNAL CAME ON. WE NEED HELP GETTING THIS FIXED. THIS LIGHT AND AIR BAG SIGNAL TURNED ON IMMEDIATELY WHILE EXITING THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE 2 WITNESS STATING LIGHT WAS NOT ON NOR WARNING ALARM. COULD THIS MODULE HAVE A DEFECT.

IT IS THE AIRBAGS BUT I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S CONSIDERED THE TAKATA RECALL. BUT I'VE RECEIVED TWO TO THREE DIFFERENT LETTERS ABOUT THE RECALL AND I'VE GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES. EVERYTIME THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX AND NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF. I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ONE OF THE TWO RECALLS AND NOT THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NO RECORD OF A RECALL FOR MY CAR.

The vehicle was taken to a different dealer where it was diagnosed with occupant restraint control failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that while her husband was reversing the vehicle out of a parking space, the driver’s side air bag was independently deployed without incident. The contact stated that a grayish-colored smoke was coming from underneath the steering wheel after the deployment. The contact initially called her insurance provider who referred her to a local dealer; the dealer then referred her to the manufacturer and a claim was filed. The vehicle was taken to Bakersfield Chrysler Jeep (3101 Cattle Dr, Bakersfield, CA 93313) where an inspector was sent from the manufacturer to investigate the failure. The contact then received an email from the manufacturer that stated that her claim was denied and that the failure was a result of normal wear and tear. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.

The active head restrains (AHR) deployed without vehicle being involved in collision. This could have caused injury and even death if anyone was operating the vehicle while it deployed. No warning lamps are active, but the system is clearly deployed.

While driving at about 30 mph the engine suddenly quit and would not immediately restart. The electrical system was shut down and electric door latches would not function. This vehicle recently had a new battery installed after it periodically failed to start. After having the car towed to the dealership and sitting for several days, it restarted. Dealership mechanics could not find a problem.

THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IN THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 IS A NOTORIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS AFFECTED THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS ACROSS THE GLOBE IN VEHICLES SUCH AS THE DODGE AVENGER, DODGE CHARGER, CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ONLINE RESOURCES REGARDING THIS FLAW ARE NOT HARD TO FIND. ALL IT REQUIRES IS A SIMPLE SEARCH ON GOOGLE TO FIND THE HUNDREDS OF REVIEWS AND POSTINGS OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS REGARDING THE OIL FILTER HOUSING BY OWNERS OF VEHICLES USING THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6. THE SHEER NUMBER AND FREQUENCY OF THIS PROBLEM REINFORCES THE LEGITIMACY AND CREDIBILITY OF THIS COMPLAINT. THIS DESIGN FLAW HOWEVER, IS NOT ONLY SPECIFIC TO THE WEAKNESS OF THE PLASTIC CONNECTING CAP ON THE OIL FILTER HOUSING (WHICH IS PRONE TO CHIPPING AND CRACKING) BUT IN THE PLACEMENT OF THIS WEAK PART DEEP WITHIN THE ENGINE ' REQUIRING MANDATORY PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE TO BE ADMINISTERED. THIS OIL FILTER HOUSING IS EFFECTIVELY A TICKING TIME-BOMB WITHIN ALL 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 ENGINES WHICH SADLY AWAITS ALL CONSUMERS. NOT ONLY IS THIS AN INCONVENIENCE FOR CONSUMERS ' HAVING TO PAY DEALERSHIPS $600+ TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED, BUT A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ON MANY LEVELS. A FEW EXAMPLES ARE: (1) THE LEAKING OF OIL CAUSED BY THE INEVITABLE CRACKING OF THE OIL FILTER HOUSING CAUSES THE ENGINE TO REACH DANGEROUS LEVELS OF HEAT AND DEGRADE AT A MUCH FASTER RATE. (2) EXPOSED OIL RESTING ON THE ENGINE NEAR THE HOUSING MAY IGNITE CAUSING AN ENGINE FIRE. (3) MORE SPECIFIC TO MY SITUATION, THE LOSS OF OIL MAY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING IN MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN ' WHERE THE RESPONSIVENESS OF YOUR ENGINE MAY BE DIRECTLY CORRELATED TO YOUR CHANCES OF SURVIVAL. IT IS UNFATHOMABLE TO THINK THAT AFTER THE MANY THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR INSTANCES CONSUMERS HAVE FACED REGARDING THE FLAWED PART, THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN PUT INTO PLACE. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FLAW POSES SUCH AN INCREDIBLE SAFETY HAZARD.

CAR IS OVERHEATING RAPIDLY, AIR IS WARM ON ONE SIDE, COLD ON THE OTHER. ENGINE WILL BEGIN STEAMING ALMOST AS THOUGH IT IS ABOUT TO CATCH FIRE AND THERE IS OFTEN TIMES A SMELL LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IF THE CAR IDLES FOR EVEN JUST AT A STOP LIGHT OR THE CAR IS SLOWED DOWN, THE CAR BEGINS TO OVERHEAT RAPIDLY. IT HAS ALSO BEEN OVERHEATING WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT 70 MPH. THE FANS ARE NOT ALWAYS KICKING IN EITHER.

The contact stated that the impact was like being rear-ended. The contact had a major headache from the impact of the headrest deployment. The contact inspected the headrest and became aware that the headrest spring had fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

I WAS LEAVING WORK ON FRIDAY, MARCH 19,2021 AROUND 4:05 P.M...STOPPED, MY CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION, I WAS WAITING FOR ON COMING TRAFFIC TO CLEAR, WHEN I HEARD WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE GUN SHOTS OR EITHER A CAR HAD CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF ME AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, THERE WERE NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME, I WAS SO SCARED, I WENT TO MY MECHANIC, AND HE DISCOVERED THE HORRIBLE NOISE WAS MY HEAD REST HAD EXPLODED. IT IS CUT IN HALF AND HAS STARTED RATTLING. MY MECHANIC ADVISED I CALL DODGE DEALER ON MONDAY MORNING 3/22/2021. I CALLED THIS MORNING AT 9:11 A.M. (EASTERN TIME). I DID RECEIVE A CALL BACK, I EXPLAINED IN GREAT DETAIL WHAT HAPPENED, I IN NO CERTAIN TERMS TOLD THE DEALER, I WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THIS, AND WAS TOLD, THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS AT THIS TIME, THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING MY CAR IN AND LEAVE FOR THE TECHNICIAN TO CHECK FOR PARTS AND IT MIGHT BE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, I ALSO REQUESTED THEY CHECKED THE DRIVERS SIDE HEAD REST, STATED, THEY MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO DO THAT. I STRESSED I AM SOMEWHAT AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR NOW ESPECIALLY NOT KNOWING IF THE DRIVERS SIDE HEAD REST WILL DEPLOY WHEN I AM SITTING OR DRIVING MY CAR. BOTH OF MY HEADRESTS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF COLLISION. THE FIRST HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYED OVERNIGHT WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE CARPORT. THE PLASTIC CLIPS WERE BROKEN. THEN ON 7/15/2020, THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED AT SOME POINT DURING THE 8 HOURS MY CAR WAS PARKED AT WORK. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS IN THE SEAT EITHER TIME BECAUSE THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2011-2013 AVENGER MODELS, BUT APPARENTLY THEY DECIDED NOT TO CHANGE ANYTHING FOR THE 2014 MODEL, THERE ARE TONS OF COMPLAINTS, SOME WITH INJURY, MOST WITH RIDICULOUS REPAIR BILLS AND ALL THIS IS DUE TO FAULTY CHEAP PLASTIC CLIPS THAT APPARENTLY JUST SNAP DURING NORMAL USE. WE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH A BETTER, MORE SUBSTANTIAL SYSTEM.

WAS DRIVING VEHICULAR SLOWED DOWN ALMOST TO A STOP AND JERKED FORWARD AS IF I WASN'T GETTING ANY POWER. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE. TOOK TO MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE ACCULATOR CONTROL SYSTEM (PER WHAT THE CODE SHOWED) DEALER SAYS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THIS CAR BARLEY HAS 80,000 MILES AND ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT. SCARED MYSELF AND DAUGHTER BAD. THIS WAS A VERY BUSY ROAD.

I OWN A 2014 DODGE AVENGER IN WHICH ONLY COLD AIR COMES OUT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME WHAT I HAD EXPECTED ALL ALONG, A CLOGGED HEATER CORE. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS AND FOUND OUT DODGE IS AND WAS WELL AWARE OF THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. CLOGGED HEATER CORE BECAUSE OF FAULTY FLUSHING OF THE WATER JACKETS ON THE V6 ENGINE. I AM VERY LIMITED ON DRIVING MY CAR IN THE WINTER BECAUSE MY WINDSHIELD WILL NOT DEFROST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHICH IS A HAZARD. THIS FAULT IS NOT BECAUSE OF MISUSE OF THE VEHICLE BUT A MANUFACTURING FAULT OF DODGE. GUESS WHAT, THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND NOT BY THE CONSUMER. IF DODGE KNEW OF THIS DEFECT AND THE CONSUMER WASN'T NOTIFIED ISN'T IT FRAUD. I NEED HELP..

I GOT MY FRONT BREAKS DONE WITH AFTERMARKET BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WEIRD GRINDING SQUEALING SOUND THE PLACE TOLD ME IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION PROBABLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, AND THEY SAID IT WAS AFTER MARKET PARTS CAUSING THE NOISE AND RECOMMENDED THAT I GET FACTORY PARTS PUT ON THE CAR. I WENT BACK TO JIFFY LUBE, THE ORIGINAL PEOPLE WHO PLACED THE AFTERMARKET PARTS ON AND WHEN THEY REPLACED EVERYTHIN WITH FACTORY PARTS, THE NOISE STILL OCCURED. I TOOK IT BACK TO DODGE, INFORMING THEM THAT THEIR DIAGNOSTIC THAT WAS RECOMMENDED WAS HANDLED AND THE NOISE STILL OCCURS. THEY, CAME BACK WITH THE SAME ANSWER "YOUR FRONT BRAKES". HOW IS IT THAT YOU DIAGNOSE MY CAR AND TELL ME IT'S ONE THING, AND WHEN I GET THAT ONE THING FIXED, IT'S STILL THE SAME ISSUE? AT THIS POINT, I AM CONVINCED IT'S NOT JIFFY LUBE, BUT DODGE NOT DOING PROPER DIAGNOSTICS BECAUSE I ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT MY CAR JUMPING WHEN I BREAK AND IT TAKES LONG TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THEY DIDN'T EVEN DIAGNOSE THAT AND WHEN I COMPLAINED, THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH MY TRANSMISSION. I OWN A 2014 DODGE AVENGER AND I GOT IT FROM FOLSOM LAKE DODGE.

I PURCHASE A 2014 DODGE AVENGER SEPT OF 2013. JANUARY 2014 WE BEGIN TO HEAR GRINDING OR CONSTANT SQUEALING DURING BACKING UP OR BRAKING. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THEY WERE WAITING ON THE MANUFACTURE TO MAKING NEW PARTS FOR THESE BRAKE OK, SO EVERY MONTH I'M TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND GETTING THE SAME ANSWER NOTHING YET. NO I HAVE TO DRIVE A LEAST 2 1/2 HOURS SOME DAY FOR WORK AND JUST THIS PASS WEEK, I HAD TO PUSH REAL HARD ON THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP. AND THE NOSE IS GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER AND THE DEALER STILL TELLING ME THE MANUFACTURE HAS NOT SENT REPLACE FOR THESE BRAKES THEY ARE MAKING NEW ONE FOR ALL THESE CARS. I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A LOUD POP. LOOKED AT MY PASSENGER SEAT AND SAW THE HEAD REST CAME OFF THE PLASTIC HOLDING IN AIRBAG. THE BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AS FAR AS I CAN SEE. I WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT POPPED. I CALLED TO SEE IF DEALERSHIP WOULD FIX BUT THEY WANT ME TO PAY SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL BUT I FEEL WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY IT SHOULD BE FIXED WITH NO CHARGE TO CUSTOMER ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WAS A MALFUNCTION ON CAR.

I WROTE PREVIOUSLY ON THE BRAKES NOT WORKING RESULTING IN ACCIDENT BUT I CAN'T FIND WHERE TO UPDATE MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT SO I'LL ADD TO IT HERE. WE HAVE SINCE LEARNED THE SPEED AT TIME OF ACCIDENT WAS 21 MPH, RED LIGHT CAME ON WHEN BRAKES WERE PRESSED AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IT HAPPENED. THE OTHER 2 THE BRAKES CAME RIGHT BACK. THE ACCIDENT DID RESULT IN THE VEHICLE BEING TOTALED. THANK GOODNESS NO INJURIES BUT WHAT WE HAVE SINCE LEARNED IS THE AIRBAGS DID INDEED DEPLOY, THANK GOODNESS, BUT THE DRIVER SEATBELT DID NOT HOLD. WHEN THEY GOT HIM OUT OF THE DRIVER SEAT, THE SEATBELT WAS ACROSS HIM BUT NO LONGER BUCKLED. IT WAS JUST LAYING ACROSS HIM, BETWEEN THE AIRBAG AND THE DRIVER. I DID RECEIVE A OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER NOTIFICATION SAYING THERE IS A RECALL BUT IT SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX YET. THIS IS BEYOND SCARY. ESPECIALLY SINCE WE OWN TWO OF THE SAME VEHICLES. WE COULDN'T AFFORD TO PARK THE VEHICLES UNTIL A FIX WAS MADE AVAILABLE SO DRIVING THE OTHER AVENGER IS VERY SCARY. I SURE HOPE THERE IS A REMEDY SOON. IT STARTED WITH THE BLINKER SHORTING OUT THE LIGHTS INSIDE THE CAR AND THE PROBLEM IS PERSISTENTLY GETTING WORSE. THEY ARE THE SAME SHIFTER. ALSO THE LIGHT THAT ILLUMINATES THE SHIFTER STARTED TO CATCH FIRE BUT I WAS ABLE REMOVE BEFORE FIRE IGNITED. I SAW THE SMOKE AND SMELLED ELECTRICAL BURNING. LUCKILY THAT STARTED RIGHT BEFORE I WENT TO STRUGGLE AND PUT IN DRIVE. TO EVEN GET IT TO LOSSES UP TO DRIVE YOU ALMOST HAVE TO SLAM THE SHIFTER UP AND DOWN RAPIDLY AND SOMEWHAT ROUGH TO EVEN LOOSEN IT UP TO GIVE A WEEK OR 2 OF IT NOT CAUSING PROBLEMS. THE CHANGING OF THE STATION HAPPENED AGAIN ON OCTOBER 18 WITH ME AND MY WIFE IN THE CAR. THIS PROMPTED ME TO LOOK INTO THE RECALL FACTOR AND I FOUND MORE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME TYPE. Driving and car cuts off without warning. Could be going 35 mph could be going 65 mph. Have to shift to N to cut car back on. Sometimes it won't cut back on. I pressed gas after light turned green in a busy intersection and car cut off in middle of intersection. This has happened in more than one occasion and almost caused many accidents. Throws code for crankshaft position sensor. It has been replaced and still not helping. Also replaced throttle body position sensor. This is happening with A LOT of these vehicles. All online forums talk of the same problem. Don't know if it's the computer itself because the check engine light rarely comes in when this happens. Then it throws random codes.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the electronic throttle body and the computer wiring harness however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 30,000.

A FEW DAYS LATER, I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION TURNING AND MY WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED, CAUSING ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. AN OFFICER HAPPENED TO BE ON THE SAME ROAD AND SAW THAT MY CAR WAS ALSO SMOKING AS WELL WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO THE PREVIOUS POWER TRAIN LEAK. I LOOKED AT OTHER RECALLS AND SURE ENOUGH, THERE ARE SOME ON THE 2011-2013 REGARDING STEERING AND BRAKE SYSTEMS AS WELL. THEY DEFINITELY NEED TO CHECK THE 2014 DODGE AVENGER AS WELL FOR SIMILAR ISSUES. NOW THE FRONT PASSENGER AREA AND MY AXEL IS RUINED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

THE HEATER CORE IS WORKING AND THE BEND DOOR ACTUATORS ARE WORKING BUT THE HEAT ONLY WORKS ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND NOT THE PASSENGER SIDE. I'VE SEEN MANY FORUMS OF PEOPLE SAYING THE SAME THINGS ABOUT 2012-2014 MODELS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. BOTH OF MY FRONT SEAT HEADRESTS DEPLOYED AS PASSENGERS WERE GETTING OUT THE CAR AND PUSHED AGAINST THE SEATS TO GET OUT THE CAR. THE CAR WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE HEADRESTS DEPLOYED LIKE THEY DID. SINCE THE PINS ARE NO LONGER IN THE HEADRESTS, IT APPEARS I WILL HAVE TO ORDER NEW ONES TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE UPHOLSTERY ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR HAS LIFTED.

I WAS LESS THAN 1 MILE FROM HOME. I NOTICED THE THROTTLE WASNT RESPONDING AS IT SHOULD WHEN I PRESSED THE PEDAL. THE ETC LIGHT WAS BLINKING AND THE TRACTION LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE OVER 20 MPH AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED AND HAVING TWO MECHANICS LOOK AT IT, THEY DETERMINED IT TO BE A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS WAS REPLACED. I PICKED THE CAR UP. LESS THAN 1/2 A MILE FROM THE SHOP, I LOST POWER AGAIN AND THE SAME LIGHTS REAPPEARED WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT NOW LIT UP. I TOOK IT BACK. HE RAN THE CODE AND IT WAS SHOWING POSSIBLE AN VACUUM ISSUE. HE KEPT IT OVER NIGHT TO TAKE A LOOKED AT IT AGAIN. IT WAS DETERMINED THEIR WAS NO VACUUM ISSUE AND NOW A CODE FOR THE MAP SENSOR WAS BEING REPORTED. IT WAS REPLACED AND THE MECHANIC DROVE IT THREE TIMES AT DIFFERENT DISTANCES. NO ISSUES. I PICK THE CAR UP. I GET ALMOST HOME (3 MILES AWAY). ETC LIGHT BLINKS, ENGINE LIGHT ON, TRACTION LIGHT ON. AT THIS POINT THE MECHINCA BELIEVES IT TO BE THE PCM WHICH HE SAYS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH DODGES. SO AT THIS POINT HE IS GOING TO PUT THE OLD THROTTLE BODY AND MAP SENSOR BACK ON AND REPLACED THE PCM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE REVERSING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE RUBBER BRAKE PEDAL COVER BECAME DETACHED WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING THREE TIMES DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HESITANT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND WAS DIFFICULT TO START. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLICKERED WITH VARIOUS INDICATORS ILLUMINATING, THE RADIO SHORTED AS WELL, THE FUNCTION BUTTONS FAILED, AND THE VEHICLE JERKED SEVERAL TIMES UPON COMING TO A STOP AND STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE KEY FOB FAILED TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED DARK FUMES WERE IN THE INTERIOR OF THE WINDOWS, THE DOOR WAS OPENED, AND FLAMES WERE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED, BUT THE CONTACT HAD A FIRE INSPECTION REPORT OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V043000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE THAT SOUNDED AS IF SOMETHING WERE LOOSE AND ABOUT TO FALL OFF FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE FAULTY. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED HOT AIR FROM THE DRIVER SIDE UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD. THE HOT AIR INTENSIFIED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL STEEL BELT RADIAL TIRES, SIZE: 225/55/R17 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH OVER A POTHOLE, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRES BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE RIMS WERE DAMAGED ON BOTH TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER TIRES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN.

THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR OVER A 1 YEAR. MY CAR ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF FOR NO REASON. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN HAD IT TOWED IN AND MULTI DODGE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS LOOKS AT IT. NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHY IT DOES IT. THEY HAVE DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM LOTS OF TIMES BUT DON'T KNOW WHY IT HAPPENS. EVERY MECHANIC REFUSES TO DOCUMENT IN THE SYSTEMS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BUT I MAKE THEM ALL RIGHT ON MY COPY OF THE SERVICE PAPERWORK THAT THEY DID DUPLICATE IT AND WHAT THEY DID TO PROTECT ME.THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE EVERY CHANGE IS THE ERG VALVE BUT IT STILL HAPPENS TO THIS DAY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE BELTWAY AND THE CAR JUST STALLED. I WAS DOING 70 MPH AT THE TIME. THE CAR RANDOMLY STALLS/WON'T CRANK AND IT HAS LESS THAN 4000 MILES ON IT. I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAVE BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WILL NOT HELP ME. IT SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING AND ALL THE GAUGES GET STUCK. I AM AFRAID FOR MY LIFE AND I CAN'T GET IN TOUCH WITH THE MANUFACTURER. BECAUSE I HAVE TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY TO GO TO WORK I AM AFRAID IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN I DON'T HAVE A WAY TO GET TO AN EMERGENCY LANE AND IT IS GOING TO CAUSE A FATALITY.
