THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AT 15MPH AS A SAFETY FEATURE AND THEN DO NOT. IT ALSO MEANS I HAVE TO ENTER THE CAR ONLY FROM DRIVER SIDE AND MANUALLY LOCK OR UNLOCK ALL MY DOORS AND MY TRUNK DOOR DOES NOT LOCK AT ALL. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE CHILDREN AS WELL AS I CAN NOT SECURE MY CAR WHEN I AM NOT IN IT. *TR

SO I TURNED THEM OFF AND THE SWITCH LIGHT STAYED ON. ALSO, EVERY LIGHT AVAILABLE LIGHTS UP ON MY DASH PANEL WHEN I START THE VAN. BUT ONLY EVERY NOW AND THEN. MY O2 SENSOR HAS BEEN CHANGES 2 TIMES BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR IT STAYS ON. AS WELL AS MY ABS LIGHT.

THE FAILURE RECURRED A FEW WEEKS LATER AND THE LIGHTS REMAINED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER, BUT REFUSED TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BULBS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT DID NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT OR IN THE RAIN DUE TO STATE LAWS THAT REQUIRE THE LIGHTS ON IN THOSE CONDITIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.

STARTING IN SEPT THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY VAN WOULD TURN OFF BY THEMSELVES PERIODICALLY. I LOOKED UP INFORMATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE COMPLAINTS THAT THIS HAPPENS BUT NO RECALL WAS ISSUED. THIS ISSUE IS GETTING TO BE MUCH MORE FREQUENT AND FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME. TONIGHT I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND IT IS ONLY 12.4 MILES TO MY JOB AND MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT 15 TIMES!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!! WE DRIVE OUR 3 KIDS TO SCHOOL ON RURAL ROADS AT 5:30 IN THE MORNINGS. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS WITH THEM IN THE CAR??? THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP AND DODGE NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR PRODUCT. MOST PEOPLE BUY MINI VANS BECAUSE THEY HAVE KIDS SO WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN TURNED INTO A RECALL YEARS AGO? I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS CAUSING THIS. I LOVE MY VAN AND THERE IS NOTHING ELSE WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS I UNDERSTAND BUT THIS HAS TO BE SOMETHING IN THE VAN THAT IS FAULTY. WHEN PUMPING GASOLINE INTO THE TANK, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE GASOLINE BACKLOWS AND TURNS OFF THE PUMP. IN ORDER TO GET 5 GALLONS INTO THE TANK IT MAY TAKE 20 STOPS, WAIT & STARTS WHICH MAY TAKE 5 MINUTES. THE CHARCOAL VAPOR TRAP IS WORKING FINE SINCE THE HOSE TO IT FROM THE GASOLINE TANK WAS DISCONNECTED TO TEST THE VAPOR CANISTER. MECHANIC DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE HOW TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR OVER A MONTH AND A HALF.

MY VAN STALLS EVERYTIME I FILL UP THE TANK. I DO NOT TAP OFF THE TANK I FILL IT TILL THE HANDLE CLICKS ONCE AND THATS IT. I HAVE DONE A TON OF RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT ITS THE FUEL VAPOR SEPARATOR. THEN ONLY WAY TO FIX SAID PROBLEM WHICH IS TOTALLY COMMON ON ALL CHYSLER VANS THE WAY I AM READING IT IS THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. IT STALLS AFTER FILLING UP AND WHEN I START TO DRIVE.

TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND WAS FOUND CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. INTERNET SEARCH YIELDED MANY OTHER EXAMPLES WITH PHOTOS SHOWING CRACKS IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE. RESULT OF THESE CRACKS IS A FUEL LEAK AS WELL AS STRONG GAS FUMES IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN AN OBVIOUS FIRE HAZARD. LEAKS AT ALL TIME THAT THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AS WELL AS FOR SOME TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND PARKED.

TODAY AFTER I LOADED UP MY FAMILY INTO MY 2005 DODGE CARAVAN I STARTED TO DRIVE OFF TO HEAD TO THE STORE. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE OF FEET I REALIZE THAT I HAVE A FLAT. WHILE I WAS LOOSENING THE LUGNUTS SO I COULD TAKE OFF THE TIRE, TWO OF THE BOLTS THAT HELD THE TIRE IN PLACE SNAPPED WHILE THEY WERE STILL ATTACHED TO THE LUGNUT. I ALSO NOTICED THAT WAS ALREADY A BOLT THAT WAS MISSING FROM THE DRUM. THEREFORE, NOW I ONLY HAVE 2 WORKING BOLTS ON THE DRUM AND BOTH OF THEM LOOK PRETTY WORN. 2005 DODGE CARAVAN RECEIVED ENGINE COOLANT DARING/FLUSH/REFILL BY AN AUTHORIZED CHRYSLER/JEEP/DODGE DEALER (CUTRONE'S, MOON TOWNSHIP, PA 15108) ON 1/10/08. FIVE DAYS LATER THE HOSE ON THE OUTLET TUBING COMING THROUGH THE FIREWALL FROM THE HEATER CORE CAME OFF OF THE TUBING, CAUSING THE RAPID LOSS OF ALL THE ENGINE COOLANT. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THEY DID NOT TOUCH THIS HOSE DURING THE ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT ON 1/10. THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT THE HOSE CAME OFF FIVE DAYS AFTER THEY SERVICED THE VEHICLE. THEY ALSO CLAIM THAT IT IS JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT THE CLAMP THAT HOLDS THE HOSE IN PLACE WAS FOUND TO BE ABOUT 4 INCHES FURTHER BACK FROM THE CONNECTION END OF THE HOSE THAN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN ORDER TO EFFECTIVELY CLAMP IT ONTO THE TUBING. EVEN THOUGH THE CLAMP WAS FIRMLY COMPRESSING THE HOSE IN THE WRONG POSITION THAT IT WAS FOUND AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE DEALER MAINTAINS THAT IT MUST HAVE HAPPENED BY ITSELF, OR BY SOMEONE WHO SERVICED THE VEHICLE BEFORE THEM. AS THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED WITH 5 YEAR / 100,000 MILE ENGINE COOLANT, THE COOLANT SYSTEM HAD NEVER EVER BEEN SERVICED BEFORE 1/10/08. THIS WAS THE FIRST ENGINE COOLANT SERVICE, FOLLOWED BY THE FIRST SPONTANEOUS DETACHMENT OF AN ENGINE COOLANT HOSE. SINCE THE DEALER IS ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE SERVICE PROCEDURE, THEN THE PROBLEM HAD TO BE CAUSED BY SOME KIND OF DEFECTIVE CONDITION THAT IS INHERENT TO THE HOSE, TUBING, AND/OR CLAMP THAT CHRYSLER/DODGE USES ON THE 2005 CARAVAN. I'VE BEEN TO 3 DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERSHIPS AND NO ONE HAS NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I'VE TAKEN IT TO AAMCO 1 TIME AND THEY INSTANTLY FOUND THE PROBLEM, THEY JUST CAN'T REPAIR MY TRANSMISSION BECAUSE I AM STILL UNDER DEALER WARRANTY. WHAT AAMCO HAS FOUND IS: 2-3 GEAR SLIPS BAD, TORQUE CONVERTER: NOISY, BAD, TCC/LOCKUP: SLIPS BAD. I OWN A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN THAT HAS THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS ON EACH WHEEL. ON FEBRUARY 28TH I DROVE TO WORK, ABOUT 12 MILES. The door locks do not work for the sliding doors or the passenger side of the vehicle. We tried to fix this issue by checking the door lock fuse out to make sure it was okay, and it was. The driver's side is the only one that locks. The passenger door lock will not push down and lock when pressed down manually. I feel this is a safety issue and I have seen that others online are having problems with their door locks not working or getting stuck and not unlocking. I don't understand why there is no recall on this issue with the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. This is a serious safe issue on any vehicle. My sliding doors have to be manually locked and as I said, the passenger side won't lock, so it's dangerous for me to have passengers. My local Dodge dealership offered to diagnose it, but it's $125.00 for them to just find out what's causing this if they could even do that. Clearly it is an issue of some kind since one door locks. Can you please look into this? Again, I know others have had door lock issues with the Dodge Caravan. Why hasn't this been fixed and recalled already? This is very frustrating. Also, I don't remember the exact date I purchased my vehicle in June, so I've given it my best guess. Thank you for your time in reviewing this. Resolution that fixes this for myself and everyone else who is dealing with this, would be much appreciated.

ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS QUIT WORKING. THERE IS ONLY 2 DOORS THAT CAN BE UNLOCKED BY THE KEY FROM THE OUTSIDE. GETTING CHILDREN OUT FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER REQUIRES CLIMBING THROUGH THE VEHICLE TO REACH THE DOOR LOCK. I WAS TURNING LEFT ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY AND I HEARD A CLICKING NOISE, A LOUD THUD AND SCRAPING NOISE ONTO THE ASPHALT. I COULD NOT MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. I COULD HAVE BEEN STRUCK BY OTHER CARS THAT ARE USUALLY TRAVELING ABOUT 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY 211 IN BARROW COUNTY. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. I WAS ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY WITH A GULLEY ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE AND HEAVY 5:00 TRAFFIC ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. DUE TO THE INABILITY TO MANEUVER THIS VEHICLE, THE TAIL END WAS BARELY OFF THE HIGHWAY. PEOPLE WOULD HONK AT ME AS THEY SPED BY. I HAD MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE 2ND ROW SEAT, AND HAD TO GET OUT OF THE VAN, MAKING SURE I WOULD NOT BE STRUCK BY SPEEDING CARS, AND DETERMINE WHICH WAY TO GET HER OUT SAFELY. I TOOK HER OUT THE BACK OF THE VAN VERY CAREFULLY. THIS ENTAILED HER HAVING TO CLIMB OVER THE 3RD ROW SEATING. IF THE VAN WOULD HAVE BEEN STRUCK, IT WOULD HAVE ROLLED DOWN THE EMBANKMENT. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED THIS WAS THE 4TH CARAVAN HE HAD TOWED THAT DAY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP IS REPAIRING AT A COST OF $500.00 TO ME PLUS TOWING OF $50.00. I CALLED DODGE AS THIS IS THE 2ND DEFECT WITHIN 4 MONTHS OF OWNING THIS VAN. THEY TOOK THE REPORT AND THAT WAS IT. THEY DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR EITHER REPAIR. THE FIRST WAS IN APRIL, THE ENTIRE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS REPLACED, COSTING $900 AND THREE WEEKS TO REPAIR IT. AKINS FORD IN WINDER DID BOTH REPAIRS. *JB

I DROVE 2 HOURS ON THE HIGHWAY AND PARKED THE CAR WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION. AFTER 10 MINUTES I WENT TO LEAVE AND I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE; IT STARTED CRANKING AND STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. PARTS OF MY CAR STARTED FALLING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. MY CAR ONLY HAD 32,000 MILES ON IT. THE AXEL GOT CAUGHT IN THE TRANSMISSION AND BROKE ALL THE PIECES IN THE TRANSMISSION. IT TOOK 3 WEEKS FOR MY CAR TO BE REPAID AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET A LOANER CAR FROM DODGE EVEN THOUGH I COMPLAINED.I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF THIS HAD HAPPENED AN HOUR EARLIER ON THE HIGHWAY. THE FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT TO OUR REGULAR MECHANIC, WHO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER IT HAPPENED THE SECOND TIME, A DODGE DEALER MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM LOCKING MECHANISM HAD FAILED AND SHORTED OUT THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND WOULD COST $900 TO REPAIR. IT ALSO COST AN EXTRA $500 TO REPLACE THE MECHANISM THAT THE PART IS ATTACHED TO BECAUSE IT HAD RUSTED SO SEVERELY. THESE INCIDENTS WERE FRIGHTENING BECAUSE IT WAS DIFFICULT TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE IF IT HAD HAPPENED AT A HIGHER SPEED OR AT NIGHT SINCE ALL MY LIGHTS WOULD HAVE SHUT OFF. MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A DODGE CARAVAN FROM A DEALER AND SINCE PURCHASING IT, WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. THE LOCKING MECHANISM WOULDN'T LET US OPEN THE DOOR AND WE LIVE IN TEXAS. WE HAD TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO TRANSFER HER TO THE OTHER DOOR. WE NOW CAN ONLY PUT HER IN ON HER "BAD" SIDE WHICH PUTS HER AT RISK FOR INJURY (AND US). AFTER THAT WE HAD PROBLEMS THAT STARTED WITH THE GAGES BOBBING UP AND DOWN AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING RIGHT HALF THE TIME. IT ALSO HAS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT COME ON AND THEN THE FRONT END SHAKES. WE HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, GROUNDING WIRES, CHECKED FUSES AND BATTERY AND CABLES. NOTHING HAS WORKED, BUT THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GET CODES FROM UNTIL THE CAR WAS AT AN INTERSECTION AND DIED!!!!! NOW IT IS FREQUENTLY DYING WHEN WE ARE AT A STOP FOR RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS AND ...RECENTLY IT DIED WHILE I WAS YIELDING FOR A LEFT TURN. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CAR ACCIDENTS AND I NEARLY GOT T-BONED AT THIS INTERSECTION. EVEN WHEN THE CAR DIES, IT WOULD USUALLY START RIGHT UP UNTIL A MONTH AGO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LOCATED ON THE STEERING WAS PUSHING AGAINST THE PLASTIC AND CAUSED IT TO DETACH. DESCRIPTION: I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 10 JAN 2010 WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 DODGE CARAVAN SXT. THE ACCIDENT WAS INITIALLY CAUSED BY AN INDIVIDUAL CARRYING FURNITURE IN THE BACK OF HIS PICK-UP TRUCK. THE FURNITURE FELL OUT OF THE BACK OF THE TRUCK FORCED MYSELF AND ANOTHER DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME TO SLAM ON OUR BRAKES. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED MY BRAKES HOWEVER THE ABS DID NOT ENGAGE AND I SKIDDED INTO THE CHEVY SILVERADO TRUCK THAT WAS TRAVELING IN FRONT OF ME. I LEFT TWO 50FT SKID MARKS (MY ESTIMATE) BEHIND ME.
