THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY NOT GOING TO FIXED IT BECAUSE MY CAR GOT TO A CAR ACCIDENT BEFORE, SO THEY COULD NOT PERFORM RECALL DUE TO AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE LADY SAID NO DEALERSHIP WILL FIXED IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY TURNED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND CAUSED A COLLISION. THE CONTACT'S AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. ON THE DAY OF THE CRASH, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS ALSO SERVICED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE CONTACT AND HIS PASSENGER AND THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY PASSENGER AIRBAG DASH LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND I HAVE SEEN RECALLS ONLINE BUT WHEN I PUT IN MY VIN IT SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN FEBRUARY 2015 BUT THE LIGHT CAME ON IN 2017 AND MY MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS A RECALL BUT WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. I HAVE BEEN CHECKING FOR A RECALL SPECIFICALLY FOR MY CAR BUT I STILL HAVE NOT SEEN IT, EVEN THOUGH THE YEAR AND MODEL OF MY CAR HAS HAD A RECALL AND I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHY.

I HAD A TAKATA DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG RECALLED AND REPLACED. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, PERHAPS A YEAR, I RECEIVED VIA MAIL A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG; HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO AVAILABLE PARTS TO FIX IT. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. I'M WONDERING WHAT THE STATUS IS? HOW DO I GET THIS REPAIRED ETC. SHOULD I HAVE THE AIRBAG DISABLED? WILL ANYONE EVEN PERFORM THAT SERVICE?

Was driving and a tick was present then over heated sat on side of road until cooled down added coolant drove home . The next day car was drivable. Drove to school and car was sounding funny so took it to a repair shop and they told me the particular engine in the vehicle has a fuel efficient component where it shuts down the cylinders on the freeway, and the lifters are supposed to open, but our lifter did not open. It got stuck and grind the camshaft in the motor. Needless to say I had to have the car towed home. It’s just sitting in my parking lot. I tried calling Dodge. They wouldn’t help me. I tried calling multiple agencies to help. I looked up on the Internet and there is multiple complaints about the same problem it’s called the hemi lift so hopefully one day this can be recalled because I’m still paying on the car. I had a year and a half. No one will help me. My kids were driving the car. What if the thing blew up on them on the freeway and somebody hit them because Car wouldn’t move anymore . Or if they were taking the car through the desert and there is no phone calls and no one around. If they were going around corners of a mountain and just stopped on them or blew up because can’t drive the car anymore. very bad and scary and sad that the builder of that motor won’t fix their mistake and leave countless people stranded and in a predicament

I experienced a catastrophic timing chain failure despite prior recall work being performed by Dodge that supposedly resolved their known timing chain issues with the 5.7L hemi with automatic transmission. This failure occurred without any prior warning at a cruising speed of about 65 MPH rendering the car undrivable. There were no warning lights, drivability issues, or signs of the impending failure. This is a well-maintained car with only 80,000 miles, never missing a required oil change and other maintenance tasks. Timing chains should not fail at such low milage - indeed, timing belts will last longer before they fail. This failure occurred on a major highway placing me and other motorists in danger from the car being unmovable and potentially causing a high-speed collision on a 70 MPH highway. If this had occurred less than 0.5 miles down the road, both shoulders of the roadway were closed due to road widening construction. A certified letter with pictures of the timing chain and timing chain guide failures with a receipt for associated repairs was sent the to the manufacturer in December 2023 but they have not given me the courtesy of a reply. The engine was replaced by an independent mechanic at an out-of-pocket cost of $13,217.38 and the pictures were taken at that time by the repair shop.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND CHECKED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED SMOKE AND A SPARK COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM POSSIBLY CATCHING ON FIRE. THE CONTACT THEN RECONNECTED THE BATTERY AND DROVE TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO SHOP. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR IN THE VEHICLE. AFTERWARDS, THE ALTERNATOR AND COMPUTER INSIDE THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS NOT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.

MY PASSENGER DOOR LATCH WENT OUT. THERE'S A RECALL FOR 2011 CHALLENGERS BUT NOT 2010. MY 2010 HAS THE SAME ISSUES AS THE 2011 RECALLS. I HAD TO REPLACE MY DOOR LATCH BECAUSE MY WINDOW KEPT JUMPING UP AND DOWN WHILE MY CAR WAS OFF AND KILLED MY BATTERY. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT OR WHAT WAS CAUSING MY WINDOW TO JUMP UP AND DOWN. I HAD TO TELL THEM I READ ONLINE THAT THE LATCH WAS THE ISSUE. AFTER REPLACING THE LATCH THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BUT TWO WEEKS LATER I ROLLED MY WINDOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND IT WILL NOT COME BACK UP. OF THE 2011 CHALLENGERS HAVE THE RECALL WHY DOESN'T THE 200 HAVE THE SAME RECALL BECAUSE THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES.

I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT IN BETWEEN ME RELEASING THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATING MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND MY ENGINE STOPPED. THE CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND THE BRAKES WERE DIFFICULT TO USE. THE A/C AND RADIO WERE STILL FUNCTIONAL. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE THE OIL LIGHT NO LONGER APPEARED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE THIS SUMMER 2015 AND ONCE LAST SUMMER 2014. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NO CODES WERE FOUND ON ALL OCCASIONS. I HAVE A LIFETIME MOPAR WARRANTY HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUE, THEREFORE THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALSO COMPLETED OIL CONSUMPTION TESTING AND FOUND NO ISSUES. I WAS ABLE TO USE MY CELL PHONE TO RECORD THE OIL LIGHT SHOWING THE LAST TIME THE ISSUE OCCURRED. I HAVE ALSO FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH DODGE. DODGE SUGGESTED THAT THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE ELECTRICAL ISSUES.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DOWN AN EXPRESSWAY. SHE EXITED AND WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES AS SHE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. AS THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 15 MPH, THE CAR ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF, WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. WHEN THE CAR STALLED, IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND BRAKE, AS THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, SHE HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, AND THEN HIT THE START BUTTON. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS, AS THERE WERE OTHER MOTORISTS EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY BEHIND HER. THERE ARE MANY OTHER OPEN COMPLAINTS WITH THE NHTSA FOR THE 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8 - EACH DESCRIBING AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM WITH RANDOM STALLING. ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE MANY VERY SIMILAR DESCRIPTIONS OF THIS PROBLEM ON DODGE CHALLENGER OWNER GROUP FORUMS. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND JUST AS OTHER CHALLENGER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO ACTED AS THOUGH THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH MANY DOCUMENTED CASES EXIST. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE, AND LIKE THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REFUSED TO HELP. I SPOKE WITH TWO DIFFERENT REPRESENTATIVES, AND BOTH OF THEM CLAIMED TO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE CHALLENGER STALLING ISSUE, AND REFUSED TO TRANSFER ME TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT THAT MIGHT BE WILLING TO INVESTIGATE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED.

I BOUGHT A 2010 SRT8 DODGE CHALLENGER A FEW WEEKS AGO WITH JUST 50 MILES ON IT. I NOW HAVE APPROXIMATELY 800. ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER, THE CAR STALLED TWICE, BOTH TIMES WHILE COMING TO A STOP. THE SAME THING HAPPENED YESTERDAY AND TODAY, MAKING IT 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN A MONTH. SIMILAR TO OTHERS, MY DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THE STALLING IN THEIR DIAGNOSTICS. 3 OUT OF THE 4 TIMES I WAS IN TRAFFIC, WITH THE OTHER TIME OCCURRING IN A PARKING LOT. THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN IT HAPPENED. AFTER EACH STALL, I HAD TO PUT THE GEAR IN PARK AND RESTART. THE MOTOR STARTS WITH NO HESITATION AFTER A STALL. THERE ARE DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS. The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tire sensor, battery, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed as a powertrain control module failure, which caused the battery and alternator to fail. The mechanic informed the contact that the powertrain control module needed to be replaced. The dealer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

Car stall no warning lite. Car has stalled when driving on the freeway, when exiting the Freeway as well at making turns. This has been happening for about 3 years. Seems to only happen during the summer months. The dodge dealership said that they would not be able to identify the problem unless a warning lite was on or they test drive and it happens. The problem doesn't happen all the time it's sporadic.

NO VEHICLE IN OTHER LANE SO NO ACCIDENT. DODGE/CHRYSLER SAYS THIS IS "NOT SERIOUS" BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES SAVED IN THE CAR AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO LOOK INVESTIGATE FURTHER BECAUSE THERE ARE NO CODES AND IT DIDN'T DIE ON THEIR TEST DRIVE WHILE HOOKED TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!!

PROBLEM: FUEL FUMES IN THE CABIN OF MY 2010 CHALLENGER STATIONARY AND IN MOTION (CITY AND HIGHWAY). THE FUEL TANK IS LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT IN DODGE CHALLENGERS, CHARGERS AND THE CHRYSLER 300. INTERNET SEARCHES REGARDING FUEL FUMES IN THE CABIN REVEALED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING FUEL PUMP O-RING LEAKS. THERE ARE U-TUBE VIDEOS AVAILABLE FOR THE HOME MECHANIC. HOWEVER, IT IS UNREASONABLE TO EXPECT THAT AN OWNER PERFORM THIS REPAIR DUE TO THE EXPOSURE TO GASOLINE AND THE POSSIBILITY OF FIRE OR EXPLOSION. MY CHALLENGER IS A LIMITED EDITION MOPAR10 WITH METICULOUS MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED. IT HAD ONLY 60,958 MILES WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 01/28/21. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP O-RINGS AT A COST OF $396.00 ($96 IN PARTS AND $300 IN LABOR). I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM IN ANY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED, NEW OR USED, SINCE 1978. THE EXPOSURE TO GASOLINE FUMES IS A WELL KNOWN HEALTH HAZARD ESPECIALLY IN A CLOSED ENVIRONMENT SUCH AS A VEHICLE CABIN. FOR THE CAR WITH ONLY 60K MILES WITH METICULOUS MAINTENANCE BEING PERFORMED BY ONE DEALERSHIP AND A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION OF DODGE AND CHRYSLER REPAIR RECORDS ON THIS ISSUE. A $400 REPAIR IS 25% PARTS AND 75% LABOR. I RESPECTFULLY SUBMIT THAT A RECALL HAS BE ISSUED. PLEASE NOTE THAT MY DODGE DEALER HAS BEEN EXCEPTIONAL REGARDING CUSTOMER CARE. GASOLINE LEAKING AROUND FUEL PUMP UNDER THE BACKSEAT INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. LEAKING UNDERNEATH VEHICLE IN FRONT OF REAR PASSENGER TIRE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING IN DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK. THE SMELL/FUMES ARE OVERWHELMING INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS A POOL OF GASOLINE ON MY DRIVEWAY. ONE OF THE TWO FUEL PUMPS IN MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER HAD SOME SORT OF CRACK AND STARTED LEAKING. IT HAS RIGHT OVER 60,000 MILES ON IT. WE KEEP THIS CAR IN THE GARAGE ATTACHED TO ARE HOME. WE CAME HOME ONE DAY RIGHT AFTER WE FILLED THE GAS TANK UP ON THE CAR AND WE SMELLED GAS WHEN WE CAME HOME THAT DAY AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS ON ELF THE OTHER THINGS IN THE GARAGE SO WE REMOVED THAT THING. THE NEXT MORNING WE WOKE UP AND THE SMELL CAME IN THE HOUSE SO I WENT ONLINE AND STARTED LOOKING UP GAS SMELLS FROM 2010 CHALLENGER AND FOUND A FORUM OF CHALLENGER CAR OWNERS FROM 2009-2012 AND THEY ALL SAID IT WAS THEIR FUEL PUMP LEAKING SO I WENT HOME AND HOPED THE SWEAT UP AND COVER AND SHARE ENOUGH THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING GAS AND IT WAS DRIPPING ALL OVER AND RUNNING DON THE TANK WE REMOVED THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE AND IT NEVER WENT AWAY WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND SAID IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD NOT HELP US EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A FAULT IN THE PUMPS IN THE CARS.

The Gen III hemi has an inherent design flaw in which the rollers making contact with the camshaft will fail, causing damage to the camshaft and causing the engine to misfire. This is due to the camshaft being moved away from the crankshaft as it causes oil starvation. After extensive research it appears to affect cars of various miles and workload. There is no single cause that makes this happen other than a grievous design flaw. The main complaint is that you experience total power loss at higher revs, making it dangerous to drive on the interstate or attempting to merge into traffics as the engine begins to shudder and lose most power. Whether it’s 40K miles or 110K miles, the flaw does not discriminate. After numerous attempts to reach Chrysler technical service on how to prevent this, I’ve been ignored and case numbers deleted. Now this is very important. This causes a misfire which not only destroys catalytic converters, but arrives with no notice. It’s very possible someone may be attempting to pass someone on the interstate and suddenly lose power. My mechanic inspected it and confirmed that the rollers failed, causing causing lifters to not make proper clearance. This needs to be investigated as this engine is in millions of cars. And even if 1% of these failure occur on an interstate, the potential for fatalities is absolutely nothing to ignore. I kindly ask that this matter be investigated. As not everyone can afford the 5K to fix this problem like I can. And due to its high prevalence in trucks, this could cause those who use their trucks for work to be put in a tight spot. I understand normal wear and tear, but by no means should a cam and valve train fail this soon in a car. Giving the Gen III hemi by Chrysler and their infamous timing chain defect, I believe this is also a dangerous flaw and something Chrysler ignored. Hoping it would outlast warranties. Best regards.

A RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN 2015 REGARDING A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. THIS CAR SAT IN A DEALER LOT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND RARELY DRIVE IT. A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE STALLED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. A CHRONIC ISSUE ACCORDING TO MOST FORUMS, EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 73,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED REGARDLESS OF MONTHS,OF THE FACT THAT IT WAS MORE THAN 24 MONTHS. IT IS A VERY LOW MILEAGE CAR FOR THE YEAR AND THIS IS ON ONGOING ISSUE FROM THESE VEHICLES FROM 2009-2012.

TRAVELING UPHILL-SLIGHT INCLINE- AT APPROX. 55 MPH ON CANYON ROAD WHEN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, FLASHED. THEN ALL DASH LIGHT INDICATORS CAME ON AS ENGINE FAILED. COASTED OFF TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE I WAS STRANDED WITH NO CELL SERVICE. ABLE TO GET HELP FROM A CHRYSLER SERVICE REP WHO HAPPENED TO HAVE A COMPUTER FOR DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSES. COMPUTER INDICATED "CAM SHAFT SENSOR FAILURE". REP ADVISED REMOVE SENSOR, LOOK TO SEE IF "GEAR" TURNS WHEN ENGINE IS CRANKED. IF GEAR TURNED THEN TIMING CHAIN OK, AND IT WAS JUST A BAD SENSOR. IF GEAR DIDN'T TURN THEN THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE. VEHICLE TOWED HOME AND SENSOR REMOVED. GEAR DIDN'T TURN WHEN ENGINE CRANKED, SO THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO DEALER. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLE MADE A POP SOUND AND LOST POWER. I WAS FORCED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS THERE WERE NO SHOULDERS AND HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE ACROSS TRAFFIC TO SAFETY. THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED, RESULTING IN THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING. WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT 4.7L HEMI ON THE CA 15 FREEWAY AT 70 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR ENGINE AND OIL CAME ON AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. STEERING AND BRAKES REMAINED OPERATIONAL AND LUCKILY I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER AS THE 15 FREEWAY IS EXTREMELY BUSY AND FAST. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY DODGE DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY PLASTIC TIMING CHAIN GUIDES HAD DISINTEGRATED AND CAUSED A BLOWN ENGINE. THE CAR REPAIRS (REBUILT ENGINE) WERE COVERED UNDER THE 100K MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT TOOK 4 WEEKS TO COMPLETE. THE CAR HAD 54K FREEWAY MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WAS REGULARLY MAINTAINED, AND NEVER SHOWED ANY INDICATIONS THAT A SEVERE ISSUE WOULD HAVE BEEN FORTHCOMING. I NOW QUESTION THE LONGEVITY OF THE NEW REBUILT ENGINE AS SAME TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY PARTS WERE USED DURING THE REPAIR. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ANTI FREEZE LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE RADIATOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED, AND THE GAUGE FLUCTUATED RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 35 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER RT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED MY THERE WAS ISSUES WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND THAT THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE TO ME FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN. WHEN I PICKED UP MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT A WEEK LATER THE CHECK ENGINE WAS STILL ON AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO DIAGNOSE IT FURTHER. THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THE MDS SOLENOID WIRING TO THE MAIN HARNESS HAD MELTED AND THAT THE ENGINE HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY OR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT IT WOULD BE $2000 OUT OF POCKET TO ME. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER GAVE ANY EXPLANATION WHY THE WIRING MELTED AT THE MDS SOLENOID TO THE MAIN HARNESS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. AT THE TIME I ONLY HAD 38,000 MILES ON MY CAR. *JS

IF CHRYSLER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR, THEY WOULD REMEMBER IT FROM 3 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED IT FROM WESTPOINTE DODGE IN OKLAHOMA. I HAD PROBLEMS FROM DAY ONE, MAINLY FROM THE LIES I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP, I BOUGHT IT NEW! I WAS TOLD OF ALL THE EXTRAS ON THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING A NAVAGATION SYSTEM, I TRIED TO GET THE NAVAGATION SYSTEM TO WORK, NO LUCK. I CALLED THEM AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK, PROBABLY JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE NAVAGATION SYSTEM HOOKED UP. NOW, IN MARCH, THE CAR STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING, IT WOULD DIE AFTER RUNNING ROUGH, THEN AFTER 2-3 TRIES IT WOULD START. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MAY 1ST, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, PROBABLY JUST BAD GAS, I HAD GOT IT BACK 2 DAYS LATER. THE NEXT DAY, IT WOULD NOT START, AFTER A FEW MORE TRIES IT DID START. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK IT BACK TO THEM ON MAY 6TH. I CALLED THEM MAY 7TH, SAID THEY THOUGHT THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM AND CHANGED SOMETHING. WHILE DOING AN OIL CHANGE ON MY CAR, I FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS LEAKING WHERE THE HOSE IS CRIMPED TO THE HARD LINE. AFTER SOME ONLINE SEARCHING I FOUND RECALL 10V475000 RELATED TO THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, CHRYSLER DOES NOT INCLUDE THE BUILD DATE OF MY VEHICLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY VEHICLE, WHICH WAS BUILT ONLY A FEW MONTHS PRIOR TO THE RECALL, WOULD NOT BE COVERED WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRING WITH MY VEHICLE IS IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY VEHICLE, WHICH WAS BUILT ONLY A FEW MONTHS PRIOR TO THE RECALL, WOULD NOT BE COVERED WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRING WITH MY VEHICLE IS IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL. I need to address a serious issue regarding the car I purchased in 2020 from a private vendor. Upon taking the car to Crown Dodge Dealership in Ventura County for repair, I had to pay roughly $700 out of pocket for the service and rented a car from Hertz for the days I was without my car. However, upon receiving the car back, it still had unresolved issues with the electrical components and dashboard noise. It is unacceptable that the manager at the dealership did not prioritize my safety or the quality of the car I purchased. Since this car is my sole mode of transportation, I demand a prompt resolution to this matter. I expect immediate assistance in addressing these concerns. Thank you.

I WAS GOING ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR ON A BUSY FREEWAY WHEN MY ABS LIGHT TURNED ON LIGHTS IN THE PANEL START TO FLICKER AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THIS IS ONE OF MANY OCCURANCES ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP UNDER MY MOPAR SERVICE CONTRACT AND THEY REPLACED ALTERNATOR. The car has an intermittent issue where at highway speeds it will go into almost a limp mode. Basically the check engine light comes on and car loses power and won't go over 45 mph. I have to pull over and shut car off. It will restart and operate normally for a random period of time. Very dangerous when on the highway and have to pull over to the side of the road. From the forums I belong to, this is a very common problem. There are even members that have bought a brand new Challenger and had this happen to them after a few months. The code that usually appears from this is misfire on cylinder 1 and even the dealerships don't know what causes it and hard to diagnose since it happens randomly. Love the car but very annoyed that this keeps happening and no one can figure out the fix

WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE CHECK ENGINE OIL AND ESP LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY FOUR CHIMES AND THEN CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING LOCKED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN AND THE CODES TURNED OFF. APPROX 1 MONTH LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. OTHER EXAMPLES OF THIS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED ON THE CHALLENGER FORUMS-SOME CATASTROPHIC(THE ENTIRE CRADLE COMING OFF, DESTROYING THE WHOLE UNDERSIDE OF THE BACK HALF OF THE CAR. IT'S DISCONCERTING AS MY CAR WAS NEVER DRIVEN "HARD" OR RECKLESSLY. IT HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT IN 5 YEARS AND IS A DAILY DRIVER. I USED MY REMOTE START TO WARM-UP MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT. I LEFT FOR WORK AND TRAVELED AT 20 MPH IN MY SUBDIVISION. I ARRIVED AT INTERSECTION TO MAKE AT TURN ONTO A 45 MPH STREET AND TRAVELED ABOUT 1 MILE TO LIGHT STOPPED AND MADE A RIGHT TURN ONTO ANOTHER 45 MPH STREET (4 LANES). AS I INCREASED SPEED TO 45 LIMIT I FELT THE GAS PEDAL PULL AWAY FROM MY FOOT AND THE CAR BEGAN TO QUICKLY SPEED UP. I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR AND THEN THE BRAKE THINKING THAT THE PEDAL WAS STUCK DUE TO COLD WEATHER 18 DEGREES. IT JUST KEPT INCREASING IN SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO TAKE TORQUE OFF THE DRIVE TRAIN. I LET IT COAST INTO THE NEXT SIDE STREET AND PUT IT INTO PARK. THE ENGINE WAS IDLING AT 4000 RPM. I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY STATING THE PART WAS NO LONGER MADE AND THERE IS NO DEALER WHO CAN SUPPLY THE PART TO MAKE THE REPAIR. I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. ON 8-3-2011 I WENT OUT TO GO TO LUNCH AND NOTICED MY REARVIEW MIRROR HAD FALLEN OFF. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT TOOK A PLUG OF WINDSHIELD WITH IT WHEN IT FELL. I WENT TO A DODGE FORUM AND SINCE MY POSTING ON FEB THE 11TH I NOW HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY UNDER DEFECTS IN MATERIAL WORKMANSHIP. I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T WITH A SERIOUS BRAKE DEFECT AT ONLY 15,000 MILES. I AM ONE OF MANY WHO HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT ROTORS ON MY VEHICLE DUE TO SEVERE WARPAGE. I WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM FROM OTHER OWNERS AND I'VE DONE MY BEST TO "BABY" THE BRAKES TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING, YET IT HAPPENED ANYWAY. IN MY OPINION, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS PROVIDED ON THIS CAR ARE INFERIOR AND NOT CAPABLE OF STOPPING THE CAR UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME (PAST THE 12,000 MILE WARRANTY COVERAGE). The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the instrument panel was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated that the battery was replaced. The contact had received notification on NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 185,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

I ASKED HIM IF I COULD SPEAK WITH EDDIE (Y) HE SAID GO WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO THE SALES BUILDING TO HIS OFFICE. I WALKED OVER TO SALES DEPARTMENT AND ANOTHER'S EMPLOYEE ASKED ME WHY I NEEDED TO SPEAK WITH HIM. I TOLD HIM IT'S REGARDING A SITUATION THAT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY AND I WAS WILLING TO WAIT ON EDDIE (Y) IF HE ISN'T NOT AVAILABLE AT THE MOMENT.THE SALES ASSOCIATE TOLD ME HE WASN'T GOING TO TEXT EDDIE AND LET HIM KNOW. HOWEVER, HE THEN PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT EDDIE PROBABLY IS IN A MEETING OR SOMETHING. I TOLD HIM OKAY AND I WALKED BACK OVER TO EXPRESS LANE AND ASKED DAVID (X) IF I COULD SPEAK WITH EDDIE AND THAT I WAS WILLING TO WAIT. DAVID WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL .HE SAID WE'LL ITS NO WAY I CAN'T GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM FOR YOU. SO I WALKED BACK TO SALES AND THE RECEPTIONIST ASKED ME WHAT I NEEDED HELP WITH AND I TOLD HER SITUATION ON HOW THE MANGER DAVID (X) WAS NOT TRYING TO HELP ME. I TOLD HER WHO I WAS LOOKING FOR AND SHE SENT ME TO HIS OFFICE. I WALKED TO HIS OFFICE AND TAPPED ON THE OPEN DOOR AND SAID HEY MR (Y) I WAS TOLD TO COME OVER TO YOUR OFFICE TO DISCUSS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY CAR THAT HIS TEAM MESSED UP AND DID WORK WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. HE STARTED YELLING RUDELY I CAN'T HELP YOU I'M DOING PAYROLL RIGHT NOW. HE SAID LET DAVID HELP YOU.I TRIED TO EXPRESS TO HIM WHY I COULDN'T GET MR. (X) HELP BUT HE CUT ME OFF AND CALLED THE SALES ASSOCIATE WHO I HAD REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO ON SATURDAY IN THEN OFFICE. DAVID LIED AND SAID HE DIDN'T DO NOTHING TO MY CAR AND NO ONE HELPED ME GET THE SITUATION RESOLVED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS REQUIRED AND THE PART MAY NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8 COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND I LOSE POWER STEERING. IT DOES THIS REPEATEDLY WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WORK WHEN THIS HAPPENS BUT THE POWER STEERING MAKES IT VERY HARD TO TURN THE VEHICLE WHICH MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK PRESS MY IGNITION START BUTTON TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATE AFTER THIS HAPPENS SO THE DODGE DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED MY ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED AND MY ESP, TRACTION CONTROL AND ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WAS DISABLED AND HASN'T BEEN ENABLED. AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE ESP, TC AND ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATE AND STAY ON. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DODGE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE ARE NO TROUBLE CODES OR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS OF DODGE CHALLENGERS ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THE SAME RESULT THAT THE DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS CAN NOT FIND OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS RANDOM ENGINE SHUT OFF HAS HAPPENED AROUND 40 TIMES. IT'S HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY IN MOTION AT SPEEDS OF 75 MPH ON THE CITY STREET FROM 30-50 MPH AND WHEN LEAVING AN INTERSECTION AFTER THE STOP LIGHT TURNS GREEN LEAVING ME STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION IN DANGER OF BIENG HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE TURNING IN A INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE STOPPING WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC HEADING TOWARDS MY VEHICLE. I HAVE NEARLY BEEN HIT NUMEROUS TIMES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAD SHIFTED THE CAR TO NEUTRAL, & FINALLY GOT IT STOPPED IN FRONT OF A HOUSE. I WAS VERY SHAKEN UP BY THIS & CALLED MY HUSBAND. HE SAID HE WOULD BE THERE ASAP. A MAN CAME OUT OF THE HOUSE & ASKED ME WAS I OK. I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED & LET HIM KNOW MY HUSBAND WAS ON THE WAY. I PURCHASED MY CHALLENGER IN 2011 AND QUICKLY BECAME AWARE THAT THE HEADREST PUT MY HEAD IN A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE PUSHED-FORWARD POSITION. AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AT MANIPULATING THE SEAT POSITION I CAME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT MADE IT TOLERABLE, BUT ON ANY LONG DRIVE (HALF AN HOUR OR MORE) I GET A STIFF NECK AND HEADACHE. I HAD NO HISTORY OF NECK PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THIS TIME. OVER TIME I SEEM TO HAVE DEVELOPED CHRONIC NECK STIFFNESS, MUSCLE TENSION AND NUMBNESS IN MY FINGERS. MY NECK HAS NOW STARTED CRACKING WHEN I TURN MY HEAD SUDDENLY. IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE, BUT IT HAS SERIOUSLY AGGRAVATED THE PROBLEM. THE HEADACHES IT CAUSES ARE SEVERE AND CAN LAST WEEKS. I HAVE NOTICED WHENEVER I TAKE A "VACATION" FROM DRIVING MY CAR FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AT A TIME THE PROBLEM IMPROVES. THE MANUAL STATES TO TAKE THESE ACTIONS "IF THE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, SAFELY BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, PLACE THE SHIFT LEVER IN PARK, AND CYCLE THE IGNITION KEY. THE LIGHT SHOULD TURN OFF. IF THE LIGHT REMAINS LIT WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, YOUR VEHICLE WILL USUALLY BE DRIVABLE. HOWEVER, SEE AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR SERVICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE." SO AS STATED BY EVERYONE ELSE HERE, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AN WAS ABLE TO START RIGHT BACK UP AFTERWARDS. CAR HAS STALLED AND SHUT DOWN 3 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING IT IN 08/2010. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO 3 DIFFERENT PLACES OVER 6 VISITS AND DURING EACH OIL CHANGE AND THE SAME RESULTS ARE: YOUR BRAKES ARE GOOD, NO REPLACEMENT NEEDED, WE REMOVED SOME DUST (IN 2 CASES, THE REMOVED SOME TYPE OF FLUID) AND YOUR BRAKES ARE FINE. NO ONE WOULD REPLACE THEM WHILE THEY WERE UNDER THE 12K MILE WARRANTY AND NOW, I CURRENTLY SIT AT 15K -- WITH THESE ANNOYING, HIGH PITCHED, SQUEALLY BRAKES. HAD BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR APPROX. 1.5 HOURS, APPROACHED A RED LIGHT AND TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME HAD STOPPED ABRUPTLY FORCING ME TO MAKE A FAST STOP. NOT A FULL FORCE STOP BUT A QUICK REACTION/SUDDEN STOP. THEN MY CAR STALLED OUT AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. I PUT IT IN DRIVE BUT IT HESITATED TO MOVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 3-5 SECONDS, THEN TOOK OFF. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES ON IT. CURRENTLY IT HAS ALMOST 3000 MILES. THIS HAD HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT ALSO AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO THE STREET I LIVE ON. SAME THING, CAR RESTARTED RIGHT UP. THAT WAS WITH ABOUT 1000 MILES ON THE CAR. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY CAN DETECT SOMETHING. HOWEVER, I'VE READ ON SOME FORUMS THAT IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO THESE CARS QUITE A BIT IN AUTOMATICS 5.7 AND 6.1 MOTORS. MY FEAR IS THAT ME OR A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY, AS WELL AS SOME UNSUSPECTING OTHER DRIVER WILL RUN INTO EITHER MY BACK END OR FROM THE SIDE IF STALLS AGAIN WHILE MAKING A TURN ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
