Was driving 60mph when car shut off driving down the highway. Alternator failed, had to have it towed. There are recalls already for this issue, but not on my model for some reason. My friend who owns is own shop looked at it today and will fix it on 6-21-2022

Front headlights go out randomly as the vehicle warms up. Appears to be related to the 2011/2012 headlamp recall 12V-042 but my vehicle is not coming up on the notification list. Loss of headlights decreases ability to see and increases the risk of an accident. No dash messages, no computer messages. Lamps work when initially turned on so vehicle hasn't failed any safety inspections. All obvious checks provide no possible reason for this issue.

My vehicle has the symptoms listed in NHSTA 12V-042. The dealership would not complete the recall due to my VIN number not being included or my manufacture date not matching the dates. They directed me to email the NHSTA to get this resolved

I just bought the car, a 2011 Charger R/T AWD, and drove it home approx.400 km. I filled the fueltank full when coming home, and left the car still for 2 days now. I have been smelling a strong gas odor on the especially when the tank is full. Today while parked in my driveway I noticed a puddle of gas under the car too. The puddle was under the right rear seat. I haven't been able to take a look, as it is minus 20 degree here now and for the next week. Even if I noticed this just reasontly, this problem has been a while Hopefully this will be a matter the dealership can handle, as I can tell it is a worldwide issue I hope that the car being in Norway doesn't make it an issue, as it is just as dangerous problem here. Hopefully this can be dealth with befora any accidents happen.

VERY STRONG GASOLINE ODOR AFTER FILLING TANK. NOTICED STRONG ODOR IN OUR GARAGE AND FOUND A LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS UNDER CAR DIRECTLY BENEATH THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. UPON INVESTIGATION DISCOVERED THERE IS A SECONDARY FUEL PUMP AT THAT LOCATION THAT IS PRONE TO CRACKING/LEAKING. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS ALSO LOCATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSES EVEN GREATER CONCERN FOR POSSIBILITY OF FIRE. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE AND WOULD LIKE A LOGICAL EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL FOR THIS EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. FUEL TANK RIGHT SIDE UNDER REAR PASSENGER SEAT HAS A LEAK. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED WITH GASOLINE, THE FUEL LEAK STARTS AND GOES AWAY AFTER HALF THE TANK IS USED. IT'S LOCATED RIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. THE FUMES OF THE GAS CAN BE SMELLED INSIDE THE CAB BECAUSE ITS DIRECTLY LOCATED UNDER THE SEAT. FOR TWO YEARS NOW, FUEL LEAKS FROM MY TANK AFTER EVERY FILL UP. WHEN STATIONARY IT CREATES A GAS PUDDLE. THERE IS A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN MY GARAGE WHEN TANK IS MORE THAN HALF FULL. The low beam left front headlight keeps going out every few months. It burns out and when I replace the bulb the harness looks hot and frayed. I keep loosing visibility while driving at night. Dodge stated I need a new headlamp harness. There are no warning lights present.

HEADLAMP (LOW BEAM PROJECTION)REPEATEDLY SHUTS OFF AFTER FEW MINUTES DRIVING. I KNOW THAT SOME POLICE VEHICLES HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE HID LOW BEAM WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF. UPON USING THE TOGGLE SWITCH TO TURN BOTH LIGHTS OFF AND BACK TO THE ON POSITION, THE FAILED HEADLAMP WILL RE-ILLUMINATE UNTIL IT FAILS AGAIN. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE BALLAST, NOT THE BULB.

I was traveling at 35 MPH when a bright light blinded me in drivers window, assuming I was about to get T-boned, I pulled hard to the right, went over a curb, and hit an electrical pole. The front air bags all deployed, including the one by my knees. Getting out of the vehicle, I could see approximately 2" of bone exposed on both shins. It looked like my shins got hit with grenades. I located my phone on the drivers side floor, underneath the remains of the knee airbag. I was taken to the closest trauma hospital and spent 5 days there. I have undergone 5 surgeries on both legs, received multiple blood transfusions in order to have surgery (due to blood loss at the scene), surgery involved removing debris multiple times, and have had artificial skin graphs as well as skin graphs taken from two sites on my right thigh (during the 5th surgery). I have been unable to drive and must have a responsible adult living with me during my recovery. I have been unable to work. I had no broken bones or internal injuries, but extensive damage to my lower legs, nonetheless. Police reports were taken at the scene by Debary, Florida/Volusia county officers. Photographs of my shins were take by the plastic surgeon called while I was in the ER. Full body xrays/scans were also taken.

I was involved in a fender bender on the highway and my airbag was deployed but the one at my feet came out so hard I think it that it projected something into my leg I assumed it was part of the takata airbag recall but now I've gone online and seen that my vehicle is not included in that recall and I'd like to know why because I really feel like these airbags injured me.

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 65MPH, ALL LIGHTS ON DASH WENT OUT, RADIO WENT DARK, A/C BLEW SUPER HOT AIR AND BLINDED ME AND ENGINE DIED AND WOULDN'T RESTART. I HAD TO CAREFULLY GET OFF ROAD ON THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE EAR TO FIND SMOKE COMING FROM 5.7L ENGINE. SMALL FIRE FROM ALTERNATOR! ALMOST HIT 5 CARS AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY 3. THIS IS THE SAME ALTERNATOR FROM THE PREVIOUS P60 RECALL, BUT ISN'T COVERED BECAUSE RECALL ONLY AFFECTS 3.6L ENGINES. WHY WOULD THE RECALL COVER ONE BUT NOT THE OTHER?

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the engine. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

The radiator fan blade broke off and hit the alternator creating a hole in it. The alternator lost all fluid and the car overheated. This happened on 2 different occasions before it became obvious that the radiator fan was the culprit and not the radiator itself. This is a safety issue because no dash lights were illuminated and the car could have severely overheated on the highway if it wasn't noticed. Mechanic inspected it and saw the fan blade caught in the hood.

ON SEPT 27,2015 WITHOUT WARNING MY GEAR SHIFT BECAME STUCK IN PARK. I WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER FROM ANOTHER PART OF TOWN WHO WAS STRANDED BY HERSELF FOR 1 HR PLUS. AS A CAR OWNER I'M LIVID BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A DANGER AND INCONVENIENCE. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. I KNOW I'M NOT THE FIRST AND WONT BE THE LAST WITH THIS COMPLIANT. I WALKED AROUND THE CAR TO SEE IF I COULD SEE ANY LEAKS THERE WAS NONE BUT THERE WAS A STRONG GAS ORDER COMING FROM THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR/WHEEL AND BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR/WHEEL, NOW I CAN ONLY FILL MY TANK HALF WAY. THE DRIVER SIDE A/C WAS MAKING A CLICKING SOUND WHENEVER I WOULD PUT IT ON AND IT WOULD TAKE A WHILE TO ADJUST TO THE SETTING I WOULD WANT. THE CLICKING NOISE WOULD CONTINUE WHILE THE A/C WAS ON .AFTER A WHILE THE CLICKING NOISE WOULD STOP BUT THERE WOULD BE A HUMMING NOISE. NOW THE DRIVER SIDE A/C ONLY BLOWS HOT AIR AND SO DOES THE BACK A/C.

AS I TURNED TO PULL IN MY DRIVEWAY, ALL AT ONCE THE ABS LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH, THE POWERSTEERING QUIT WORKING, ALL AT THE SAME TIME THE VEHICLE HAD BEGUN MAKING A LOUD HIGH PITCHED HUMMING NOISE WITH SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD THAT HAD A VERY INTENSE BURNING, ELECTRICAL TYPE SMELL. THEN THE DASH FLASHED THAT THE CAR WAS IN BATTERY SAVER MODE, SUBSEQUENTLY DYING ALTOGETHER. UPON HAVING TOWED THE CAR TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED TO A) REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR B) REPLACE THE BELT AND C) REPLACE THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE ALTERNATOR CAUSED IT TO GO BAD. THE TOTAL FOR ALL REPAIRS WILL BE $1224. I STILL DON'T HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK, BUT I'VE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT THERE IS A RECALL (RECALL NUMBER P60) INVOLVING SOME 2011-2014 MODEL YEAR DODGE CHARGERS AND THEIR ALTERNATORS. SEEING AS MY VEHICLE IS A 2011, AND I AM HAVING THIS EXACT ISSUE, I NEED TO KNOW WHY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. MY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. SO I WENT TO PEP BOYS TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE A LEAK ON MY LINE THAT GOES FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR TO THE BACK OF THE CAR. The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact coasted to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that there were metal shavings inside the transmission fluid and the transmission needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

3 SEPARATE VEHICLE SHUTDOWNS WHILE ACCELERATING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND TO OVERRIDE CRUISE CONTROL. ESC AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH "ACC/FCW UNAVAILABLE VEHICLE SYSTEM ERROR" IN THE EVIC AT 30MPH. SECONDS LATER ALL WARNING LIGHTS SHUT OFF, THE TURNED BACK ON A FEW SECONDS LATER AND REPEATED CONSTANTLY. POWER STEERING WAS 100% LOST WHILE TURNING, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GO INTO A DITCH. AT ABOUT 25MPH, AGAIN AT 35MPH, AND AGAIN AT 40MPH, MY CAR HAD BRIEFLY APPLIED THE EBRAKE BY ITSELF, EVEN THOUGH THE EBRAKE WAS FULLY DISENGAGED, AND A CLICKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE SHIFTER. THE SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO ZERO, THEN WARNING LIGHTS TURN OFF AGAIN AND SPEEDOMETER GOES BACK TO NORMAL FUNCTION. BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY STIFF, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. WHEN I CAME TO A FULL STOP AT AN INTERSECTION, THE EBRAKE PREVENTED ME FROM ACCELERATING, THEN I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER THE INTERSECTION, THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ON, SPEEDOMETER STAYED AT 0, AIRBAG LIGHT STAYED ON. DINGING CONSTANTLY, AS CARS NORMALLY DO WHEN YOU FIRST START THEM ( ABOUT 1 DING A SECOND). RADIO AND MOST INTERIOR LIGHTING SHUT OFF, HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF, THEN CAME BACK ON AND STARTED FLICKERING, ACCOMPANIED BY A "BATTERY SAVER MODE" MESSAGE ON THE EVIC. WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED MOVING, BUT VERY SLOWLY. ENGINE SOUNDED WINDY, LIKE A SIREN FROM A FIRE TRUCK AND ENGINE WAS NOTICEABLY LESS POWERFUL. BURNING SMELL FROM ENGINE. ONCE STOPPED, CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, AND ALMOST NO POWER TO ANY AREA OF THE CAR. REPLACED BATTERY, WHICH FIXED NOTHING. WINDOW WAS STUCK DOWN, SO WE PULLED THE BATTERY AND PUT IT ON A CHARGER TO SEE IF IT WAS CHARGED, AND PUT IT BACK IN THE CAR. THE NOISE ALSO OCCURS RANDOMLY, BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS POWERED ON AND OFF. 2 - THE TRUNK KEEPS POPPING OPEN EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO OPENS RANDOMLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS LOCKED AND SECURED. THE ONLY METHOD TO OPEN THE TRUNK NOW IS FROM THE BUTTON INSIDE THE VEHICLE LOCATED ON THE DASH. 3 - THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS SOMETIMES HESITANT WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY AT WHICH TIME THE CAR HAD THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AND SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE CAR OFF BUT THE SMELL CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY LOCAL GARAGE WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR HAD BEEN ON FIRE. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE RECALL P60 EXISTS FOR 2011 DODGE CHARGERS. THIS IS ONLY FOR THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR. MY CAR HAS THE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR. UPON CONTACTING DODGE, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. WITH ONLY 67,000 MILES ON THE CAR, THIS TYPE OF FAILURE SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

In 2015 I had issues with the seat belt alarm on the vehicle going off, stating that passenger and driver seatbelts weren’t buckled. I would get a airbag flashing light stating per manual that the airbags were not activated. Fast forward to July 2015, I had gotten a recall letter for a orc (occupant Restraint module) which affects airbags and seatbelts. I brought in the car to get it fixed per recall. Fast forward to about 2 years later, the same issue had occurred. Airbag light would still pop up and stating that seats belt in the car wasn’t engaged. Brought it in to get it checked out at a local mechanic shop, they couldn’t fix it and stated I need to go to the dealership. They noted that it was affected by the recall of the orc module. Brought in the car to Cutter dodge In pearl city Oahu and they fixed it, at this time I was still covered by warranty. Fast forward to around 2019 I moved to Maui, the same exact issue occurred. Brought it into my friends mechanic shop and he had said the same thing that it’s an ORC module and to bring it to Jim falk dodge in Kahului. Explained to them the issue and they said that they need to replace the OrC module for over $700. I explained to them that this is the same issue occurring with the recall. Why would I need to pay for a faulty recall fix which is affecting me and my families safety where the airbags won’t deploy in an accident which could cause death because the module in the recall wasn’t fixed properly the first time.

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS NO EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT SHOULD HAVE LED TO A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. I DRIVE A 2011 DODGE CHARGER RT MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO LOSS POWER AND WHEN POWER IS LOST I HAVE NO POWER STREERING OR BRAKES. THE ONLY THING CLASSIC DODGE HAS DONE IS REPLACE THE BATTERY STATING WE HAD TO START THERE AND ADVISED ME FCA HAS NOT SENT OUT A FIX AND WONT UNTIL FEB 2018. ON THE MORNING OF 8/20 I DROVE 2 BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE WHEN THE CHATTERY SAVE MODE TURNED ON ACCOMPANIED BY THE BATTERY LIGHT ON THE DASH SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR LOST POWER STEERING AND ALL ELECTRIC COMPONENTS SHUT OFF AND THEN THE CAR SHUTOFF AND WAS IMMOBILE AFTER THAT. I PUSHED THE CAR HOME AND THE CAR HASN'T TURNED OVER SINCE. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND USED A BATTERY CHARGER TO RECHARGE SO I CAN PUT MY WINDOWS UP WHEN I RECONNECTED THE BATTERY I PUT THE CAR IN RUN KNOWING THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND PENDING RECALL. AS THE WINDOWS HIT THE CLOSED POSITION BLACK SMOKE STARTED COMING OFF THE ALTERNATOR AND I PROMPTLY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AGAIN COMPLETELY AFTER TURNING THE CAR INTO OFF POSITION AGAIN. THE LEAK COMES FROM BELOW THE DOOR HINGES AREA OF THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR. I CANNOT FIND THE ORIGIN BUT THIS IS WHERE IT DRIPS FROM. MY ALTERNATOR WENT OUT AROUND 45K MILES IN 2013/2014. I HAD IT REPLACED; IT HAS SINCE BEEN RECALLED, BUT DODGE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BURNING ALONG WITH A LOSS IN ELECTRICAL POWER. IN 2016, AT AROUND 75K MILES, FUEL STARTED LEAKING FROM JUST IN FRONT OF THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE TIRE. THE GASKET BETWEEN THE TANK AND PUMP WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE NEXT FILL UP, THE LEAK BECAME WORSE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO ANOTHER SHOP. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS DRIVING IT ONTO THE TRUCK, GAS WAS SPRAYING DOWNWARD WITH A GOOD AMOUNT OF PRESSURE. THE SECOND SHOP ALSO SUSPECTED THE GASKET DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE FUEL SYSTEM. THEY ALSO REPLACED IT, BUT THE LEAK PERSISTED. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY HAD DEVELOPED A CRACK. I DON'T APPRECIATE THE THOUGHT OF DRIVING SOMETHING THAT COULD CATCH ON FIRE OR WORSE. APPARENTLY, THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS "REDESIGNED" POST 2011 MODELS. DODGE REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT A FUEL SYSTEM ISSUE CAN RESULT IN A MAJOR HAZARD. AN OIL CHANGE SHOP EVEN COMMENTED ON THE STRONG GAS SMELL AND WARNED OF THE DANGER.

ON JULY 11TH 2016 I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED AN OVERWHELMING SMELL OF GASOLINE. 5 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE DETECTED A SMALL EVAP SYSTEM LEAK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATES AND THEN TURNS OFF ON ITS OWN. THE SMELL OF GASOLINE GOES AWAY WHEN THE TANK IS HALF FULL. WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, GASOLINE DRIPS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET I DISCOVERED ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM THAT OVER 40 PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS SAME ISSUE. THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUES TO PUMP GAS ONCE THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THE GAS TANK LEAKS WHEN THE TANK IS OVER HALF WAY FULL. ACCORDING TO OTHER COMPLAINTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM CHRYSLER AND DODGE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS SAME PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES. I REACHED OUT TO DODGE AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE ISSUED RECALLS FOR THIS WITH OTHER VEHICLES, BUT NOT THE CHARGER. I HAVE PAID OVER $1200 DOLLARS TO REPLACE PARTS THAT I AM TOLD SHOULD BE RECALLED.

HAD A CLUNKING NOISE IN REAR. RT REAR TIRE WAS WEARING OUT PREMATURE. FOUND A LOOSE BOLT IN RT REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM LINK AND BOTH SIDES HAD LOOSE CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS IN THE LINK ARMS. 4 TOTAL. ONE WAS ACTUALLY BENDING THE LARGE WASHER OUT ALMOST TO THE POINT OF FAILURE. IF THIS HAPPENED THE WHEEL WOULD HAVE BECOME LOGGED IN THE WHEEL WELL AND CAUSED THE CAR TO LOOSE CONTROL.

PUT ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY BACK IN AND CAR STARTED UP AND DROVE FOR OVER AN HOUR WITH NO ISSUES. THE MORNING OF JULY 5, 2013 I STARTED MY CAR AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. IT HAD DONE THIS ONCE BEFORE BUT ONLY FOR A SECOND AND THEN ALL WAS FINE.THIS TIME THEY DIDN'T TURN OFF AND WHEN I STARTED TO DRIVE IT WAS MAKING "WHINING" NOISE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON. THEY TOLD ME TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY. THEY CALLED LATER THAT AFTERNOON TO TELL ME IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND CAUSING A SHORT. SINCE THE CAR WAS PAST 36,000 MILES IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! IT COST ME ABOUT $800 TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE EXACT PROBLEM WAS WITH THE ALTERNATOR, BUT I JUST HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP A MONTH PRIOR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY "SAID" THE CAR CHECKED OUT FINE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS CAR! 35,5019 MILES, THEY REPLACED 3 OF THE 6 PISTONS,THANKFULLY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. 45,778 MILES, THE ALTERNATOR FAILED. AROUND 50,000 MILES, ONE OF THE FUEL PUMPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS CRACKED ON THE TOP. THE CAR SMELLED LIKE GAS FOR A MONTH AFTER FIXING IT. THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED IT SAID HE HAS NEVER SEEN THEM BRAKE LIKE THAT AND IT WAS VERY ODD. RECENTLY AT ABOUT 57,000, WE REPLACED THE ACTUATOR IN THE DIVER SIDE A/C UNIT. JUST AS EVERYONE ELSE HAS WRITTEN, MY 2011 DODGE CHARGER AT ONLY 51,000 MILES ALTERNATOR WENT OUT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF THE GAUGES STARTED FLASHING, MY RADIO CUT OFF, AND THEN MY WHOLE CAR DIED AND WOULDN'T COME BACK ON. My display screen went completely black. The blind spot warning system does not work at all as well when the display screen went black. It's completely unresponsive, no navigation, radio, entertainment anything. The a/c is on full blast as if it's on defrost as well. And the language for the car went into German for some reason I have no idea why. It was working completely fine this morning when it happened and when I went to turn on the car it stopped working completely.

BLIND SPOT DETECTION UNAVAILABLE- I PURCHASED A DODGE MOPAR 11 CHARGER THAT HAS A SAFETY FEATURE CALLED BLIND SPOT DETECTION. THE BLIND SPOT INDICATORS ARE LOCATED ON THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDE VIEW MIRRORS. WHEN A CAR APPROACHES EITHER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, A LITTLE ORANGE TRIANGLE LIGHTS UP TO LET THE DRIVER KNOW THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE IS IN ITS BLIND SPOT. IN JUNE OF 2016, I STARTED MY CAR AND AND I GOT THE "BLIND SPOT DETECTION UNAVAILABLE" ERROR ON MY HUD. IN ADDITION, BOTH TRIANGLES ON THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS WERE ON. AFTER CONDUCTING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND A WAY TO TURN OFF THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM THROUGH THE CARS SETTINGS. HOWEVER, THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS AND WHEN THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION IS TURNED ON, THE TRIANGLES LIGHT UP AND THE SYSTEM SAYS ITS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS FEATURE WAS NOT INCLUSIVE TO JUST DODGE CHARGERS, BUT ALSO OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES WITH THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL THREADS AND VIDEOS ONLINE OF DISGRUNTLED OWNERS OF CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE LEARNED FROM TALKING TO THE DEALER, THAT MY CAR (DODGE MOPAR 11 WHICH HAS 36K MILES ON IT) HAS TWO SENSORS THAT ARE LOCATED IN THE BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE THAT COST $1,100 A PIECE EXCLUDING INSTALLATION OF THE NEW SENSORS. IN ESSENCE, THIS IS A "LATENT" SAFETY DEFECT OF POOR DESIGN AND COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO THE LOSS OF LIFE. IF I HAD KNOWN THAT THIS SAFETY FEATURE WAS INTRINSICALLY DEFECTIVE, I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS DEFECT IN THEIR BLIND SPOT DETECTION EQUIPPED VEHICLES AND ISSUE A RECALL THAT RESOLVES THE SAFETY ISSUE.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL HAD A LOUD METAL ON METAL SCRAPING NOISE, BOTH WITH BRAKING AND WITHOUT BRAKING, IN BOTH DRIVE AND IN REVERSE POSITIONS. THE NOISE ONLY LASTED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES AND COULD NOT BE REPLICATED, WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE TIRE PLACE. THEY DID REPLACE SOME BRAKE HARDWARE ON THAT SIDE, SAYING THAT IT WAS A THIN METAL PIECE BEHIND THE BRAKE PAD WAS BENT. BUT NOW, TWO WEEKS LATER THE WHEEL WAS MAKING THE SAME NOISE BUT NOT AS LOUDLY AND IT ALSO WENT AWAY ON ITS OWN AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES. IN ADDITION MY DRIVERS FRONT TIRE IS TERRIBLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND WORE THE OUTER EDGE OF THE TIRE NEARLY BALD. THIS IS THE SECOND ALTERNATOR IN TWO YEARS BOTH BURNED UP. CHARGER 2011 MODEL SUCKS BIG TIME. SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL THE ALTERNATOR. THE RADIO AND DASHBOARD GREW DIM AND THEN WENT BLANK. THE REAR TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED EVERY 2-3 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY AGREED SOMETHING WAS WRONG, FOR THE TIRES TO BE WEARING PREMATURELY. SHE WAS TOLD, IT WAS THE TOW-BAR, AND THE REPAIR COST WAS $640. HOWEVER, THE DEALER PAID HALF OF THE REPAIR. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE REAR TIRES STILL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, EVERY 2-3 MONTHS. THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKED FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS. THE DEALER PERFORMED A FLASH ON THE TRANSMISSION AND HE WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO RE-LEARN HIS DRIVING HABITS. AFTER DRIVING OVER 700 MILES, THE 3 SECOND DELAY WAS AND STILL IS CONSTANT, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2012, AND HE RECEIVED A CALL THE FOLLOWING THE DAY, AND WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION WAS OPERATING WITHIN PARAMETERS. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON DRIVER SIDE FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. WHILE REPLACING THE BULB, A VISUAL INSPECTION INDICATED THE CONNECTOR HAD OVERHEATED AND THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION HAD BECOME LOOSE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED TO SEE IF A RECALL HAD ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. THEY ADVISED THE RECALL ONLY AFFECT POLICE CRUISER AND THIS CAR WAS NOT IDENTIFIED AS A RECALL. THE DEALER INDICATED THE REPAIR SOLUTION WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL HARNESS. CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT ALL THE IDIOT LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD COME ON AND THEN WE PROCEED TO LOSE THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. CHRYSLER'S LEMON LAW DIVISION STATES THAT THEY WILL FIX IT AND THAT MY ISSUE IS NOT A LEMON LAW CASE. I SIMPLY HAVE REQUESTED THEM TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND HAVE THEIR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TAKE IT APART TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH I AND TO GIVE ME A NEW VEHICLE. EACH OF THE THREE TIMES THIS HAS OCCURRED, WE HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY FORTUNATE TO BE IN A PARKING LOT ONLY TRAVELING A COUPLE MILES PER HOUR. THIS ISSUE WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN RESOLVED ALREADY AND HAS NOT APPARENTLY. I NO LONGER TRUST MY SAFETY AND LIFE NOR THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF OTHERS ON THE ROAD IF I WERE TO DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN. FIRST ISSUE(S) OCCURED IN MAY OF 2011 AND HAVE CONTINUED TO DATE. OVER 25 VISITS TO 2 DEALERSHIPS FOR FIXES, AND NO ONE CAN GET A FIX ON IT. FIRST, IT WAS THE PASSIVE ENTRY DOOR HANDLES, WHICH HAVE OCCURRED 5 TIMES AND 5 FIXES SINCE LAST YEAR. SECOND ISSUE WAS THE POWER SHUTDOWN FOR THE CAR, 3 DEAD BATTERIES, AND SEVERAL ISSUES CONCERNING THE UCONNECT SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN DURING DRIVING. THERE HAS BEEN A RELENTLESS AMOUNT OF SUSPENSION AND BRAKING ISSUES OCCURRING. THE ISSUES INCLUDE HAVING TO REPLACE WARPED ROTORS, UNEVEN BALDING TIRES(TWICE NOW), ABS FAILING AND TRACTION CONTROL FAILING, UNEVEN DOOR SEAMS, FLAKING AND CHIPPING PAINT(ESPECIALLY BETWEEN BODY PANELS), AND NOW BRAKES AGAIN GRINDING SIDEWAYS IN THE CALIPERS. THERE HAS BEEN SO MANY ISSUES, THAT I HAD TO CONTACT A LAWYER, WHICH IS NOW PRESENTLY ON IT'S 97TH DAY OF SUBMITTAL TO GET THIS VEHICLE RECTIFIED. I'VE ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE CHRYSLER STAR CUSTOMER SATISIFACTION PROGRAM SINCE JAN. OF 2012 AT 8,012 MILES AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO WARRANTY THE ROTOR ISSUE, WHICH HAS FORCED US TO HAVE THE ROTORS CHANGED IT AT ANOTHER SERVICE, NOT BEING A DODGE DEALER. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING LOOKED AT FOR BAD SWAY BAR LINK BUSHINGS AND SEVERAL OTHER BUSHINGS SHOWING DRY ROT PREMATURELY. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE TRUNK POPING OPEN IN MID DRIVING, WHICH HAS BEEN THE ONLY THING BESIDES THE 5TH DOOR HANDLE REPLACEMENT THAT HAS WORKED SINCE PURCHASING IT. ONCE AGAIN, WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND SPEEDING CARS DODGING MY STOPPED VEHICLE, I IMMEDIATELY THREW IT INTO PARK, TRIED TO RESTART IT X2, THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE AND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE TRACTOR TRAILER WHO WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP! DRIVING AT 70MPH SPEED LIMIT,A CAR CAME OVER INTO MY LANE,AND I HAD TO SLOW DOWN. I THEN PUSHED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GET BACK UP TO SPEED,AND NOTHING. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AT ALL,EVEN AFTER I KEPT PUSHING ON THE PEDDLE. I HAD TO TAKE A FAST LOOK BEHIND ME,AND GO ACROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC,ALL GOING 70MPH AND MORE,TO GET THE CAR TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE WERE LUCKY THE 4 OF US WERE NOT KILLED. THE CAR WENT DOWN TO BELOW 30MPH,EVEN THOUGH I KEPT PUSHING ON THE GAS. THEN IT TOOK OFF. THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES,AND NOT QUIT SO BAD A FEW OTHER TIMES. WE WERE ON A 1 MONTH TRIP,AND WHEN WE LEFT THE CAR HAD JUST OVER 6,000 MILES ON IT,AND WAS 6 MONTHS OLD. WHEN WE GOT HOME IT WAS 7 MONTHS OLD WITH 12,000 MILES ON IT. AT ONE POINT CHRYSLER CORP.TOLD ME IT FITS INTO THE CAR BUY BACK REPLACEMENT PROGRAM. THEY DID NOT HELP ME.I GOT A 2012 CHARGER BECAUSE I DID NOT TRUST THE 2011. IT COULD KILL SOMEONE. THEY SAY THE CAR IS FIXED,BUT I AM NOT GOING TO RISK MY FAMILY'S LIFE ON IT. HAS THERE BEEN ANY OTHER CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM,OF NO ACCELERATION? IS IT A PROBLEM WITH THE MULTIPLE DISPLACEMENT SYSTEM? 2011 DODGE CHARGER. CONSUMER EXPRESSES DISCONTENT CONCERNING CHRYSLER CORPORATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND CHRYSLER WAS AWARE THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND NEVER INFORMED HIM. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE VEHICLE HAS A TERRIBLE BLIND SPOT, WHICH WAS RESTRICTIVE, AS HIS BODY TRANSGRESSED HIGHER TOWARDS THE BACK MAKING IT DIFFICULT SEEING LOW HOODS. ALSO, THE REAR WINDOW VIEW WAS HIGHER, APPARENTLY TO ALLOW MORE TRUNK SPACE, WHICH BLOCKED THE CONSUMER FROM SEEING, THE HOOD WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACES. THE CONSUMER STATED HE COULD BARELY SEE THE SPEEDOMETER, THE NUMBERS WERE A LOT SMALLER AND DIFFICULT TO READ. ALSO, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO ADJUST THE TILT WHEEL. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TO USE EXTRA STRENGTH TO PULL THE WHEEL UP OR DOWN. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A DRAG IN THE VEHICLE, WHEN HE REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE WOULD SLOW DOWN MORE RAPIDLY. ALSO, IT WAS EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY MOVE THE SHIFTER INTO A LOWER GEAR. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. *JB
