MY SPARK PLUG JUST POPPED OUT OF THE SOCKET WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IT STRIPPED THE THREADS, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME. THE FIRST TIME I THOUGHT THAT THE PLUG WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY ON CYLINDER #2, THIS TIME IT HAPPENED ON CYLINDER #3. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW. I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO DRIVES IT AND I HAVE USED SYNTHETIC OIL THE ENTIRE TIME. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN CARE OF IT. I WAS ON THE OFF RAMP OF I-85 WHEN IT JUST STOPPED. IT WAS SMOKING AND THEN THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS IN A DANGEROUS PLACE ON THE OFF RAMP AND OIL WAS SPILLING OUT OF THE BOTTOM. WE HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT HAD TWO CRACKED HEADS. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET ABOUT THIS AND I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER AND REGISTERED A COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HAVE FOUND OUT ABOUT ALL THE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE 2.7 LITER ENGINE. CHRYSLER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS ENGINE OR THEY WOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL. EVERY PARTS PERSON, MECHANIC, DEALERSHIP, ETC. THAT I HAVE TALKED TO HAVE MENTIONED THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS ENGINE. IT SEEMS AS IF EVERYONE KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT CHRYSLER. THEY ASKED IF I HAD ALL THE RECORDS FROM EVERY TIME THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE OIL CHANGED. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD THINK ABOUT KEEPING. I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING EVEN IF I HAD THE RECORDS. THEY JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROOF. THIS IS GOING TO BE VERY COSTLY TO GET FIXED AND IF I PUT THE SAME KIND OF ENGINE IN, I AM LOOKING AT THE SAME PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS AT THIS POINT THAT I MAY HAVE TO JUST TRASH THE CAR AND LOSE WHATEVER WORTH IT HAD LEFT IN IT. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DODGE CAR BECAUSE CHRYSLER DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR MISTAKES. STARTING MARCH I HAD PROBLEMS WITH TURNING THE WHEEL AND I TOOK CAR TO GET OIL AND ASK MECHANIC TO CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID. IM TOLD IT IS FULL AND THAT THEY DO NOT WHY I HAVE TURN THE WHEEL AS IF I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. EACH MONTH I GET SOMEONE CHECK POWER STEERING AND TOLD IT IS FULL. I HAVE TO TURN THEE OPPOSITE WAY WHEN GETTING OUT OF A PARK. SOMETIMES I BACK IN PARK IN ORDER TO GET OUT. THEN I START HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CAR MAKING NOISE AND CAR SOUND WHEEL GOING TO BREAK. RETURNED TO RESIDENCE AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT ONE OF THE SPEED SENSORS HAD FAILED. DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT BOTH INPUT AND OUTPUT SPEED SENSORS BE REPLACED, DROP TRANSMISSION PAN FOR INSPECTION, AND PERFORM TRANSMISSION FLUSH. AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR. CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORP TO INQUIRE ABOUT POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. WAS ADVISED THAT THE SPEED SENSOR WAS NOT PART OF THE POWER TRAIN AND THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD A 3YR/36,000 WARRANTY ON THE POWER TRAIN. BELIEVE THIS IS INCORRECT DUE TO WARRANTY BOOK RECEIVED WITH VEHICLE INDICATES THAT THE POWER TRAIN MODULE IS 7YR/70,000. INVESTIGATING FURTHER. BELIEVE THAT THIS SENSOR SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE POWER TRAIN SINCE IT PROVIDES CONTROL TO THAT COMPONENT. *NM

FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIBER, PISTON IS MADE OF A COMPOSITE AND NOT METAL,COMPOSITE CRACKS AND LEAKS. THE PISTON TURNS TO MUSH AND THE BRAKE PAD BECOMES LOOSE. *JB THIS CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO PULSE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. WAS BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER AND FINALLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. OUR DODGE STRATUS HAD 38,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE SWITCH CONTROLLING THE WIPER BLADES/WASHER SYSTEM FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THE WIPERS AND WASHER RAN CONTINUOUSLY. THE WIPERS WERE STOPPED ONLY BY PULLING THE 30 AMP FUSE UNDER THE HOOD. THE PUMP SUPPLYING WASHER FLUID TO THE WINDSHIELD COULD NOT BE STOPPED AT ALL EVEN AFTER IT RAN OUT OF FLUID. WHILE THE FAILURE DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR INJURIES, THE FAILURE COULD HAVE LED TO ONE WITH A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER. THE COST OF THE REPAIR AND THE SWITCH WAS $290.00. NEITHER DAIMLER/CHRYSLER NOR THE SELLING DEALERSHIP WOULD COVER THE COST OF ANY PART OF THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS JUST 2000 MILES AND ONE MONTH BEYOND WARRANTY AND CLEARLY OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF A DEFECT. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE OCT. OF 2000 AND ABOUT FOUR MONTHS LATER, I WAS IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT THAT WAS THE OTHER VEHICLE'S FAULT. THE FIRST TWO TIMES I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY CLAIMED THE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING EVEN WITH A TEST DRIVE. THE THIRD TIME THEY CLAIMED MY BRAKES WERE BAD AND REPLACED THE BRAKES AND NOT THE ROTORS. AFTER THAT THE PULSATING WAS NOT AS NOTICEABLE FOR A FEW WEEKS THEN IT WAS BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE. I HAD THE DEALER CHECK THEM ONE OR TWO MORE TIMES AND AGAIN THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I HAD A SMALL FENDER BENDER DUE TO BRAKES NOT STOPPING MY VEHICLE PROPERLY. I HAVE TO HAVE MY FRONT AND REAR BRAKES CHANGED TWICE A YEAR, THE FRONT BRAKES GO LIKE THEY ARE MADE OF PAPER, THE REAR BRAKES WEAR ON ONE SIDE MORE THAN THE OTHER. MY OUTER TIE ROD HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE THEY WERE BROKEN, THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. FRONT PASSENGER TIE ROD ON 2000 DODGE KEEPS BREAKING. AFTER AN ABRUPT STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING ABILITY WAS SEVERELY IMPAIRED. I WENT HOME IMMEDIATELY FEARING FOR MY SAFETY. AFTER AN INSPECTION UNDER THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT A LARGE AMOUNT OF BRAKE FLUID IN MY DRIVEWAY. LOOKING MORE CLOSELY I FOUND THE LEAK IN THE BRAKE LINE. IT APPEARS THAT THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE HAD WORN A SPOT ON THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LINE. THIS COMBINED WITH CORROSION HAD CAUSED THE LINE TO RUPTURE. IT LOOKS AS IF THE FACTORY WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE THERE WAS A SOFT 3" PIECE OF FOAM RUBBER TUBING OVER THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE WHERE IT CONTACTED THE HYDRAULIC LINE. THIS FOAM RUBBER MAY HAVE ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE CORROSION BY TRAPPING WATER BETWEEN IT AND THE STEEL BRAKE LINE. JUDGING BY THE AMOUNT OF RUST STUCK TO THE FOAM RUBBER I WOULD SAY THIS IS A FAIR ASSESSMENT. CHRYSLER DEALERS AND THE MAIN OFFICE OFFERED NO RECOURSE. AFTER EXPERIENCING ALL THIS AND MANY OTHER PROBLEMS FROM A VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW, I CAN SAY THAT I WILL NEVER PAY FOR ANOTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLE AGAIN. IF SOMEONE GIVES ME ONE, I MAY CONSIDER THE OFFER. P.S. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO LET OFF OF MY BRAKE PEDAL AND I FELT AND HEARD A POP. I HAD NO INDICATION OF ANY OF THIS, NO SQUEALING OR ANYTHING IT WAS PRETTY SUDDEN. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE WAS STICKING ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SPRING ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE WAS FLAT. ALL THE OTHER BRAKES WERE FINE STILL LOOKED NEW. I'M NOT SURE WHAT DAMAGE THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED BUT I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN WHO RIDE IN THIS CAR ALL THE TIME. I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM DAIMLERCHRYSLER FOR THE UPPER BALL JOINTS IN MY 2000 DODGE DURANGO. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY TO FIND OUT HOW TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED AS THERE IS NO DEALERSHIP WHERE I LIVE. I LET THEM KNOW I LIVED IN KETCHIKAN, ALASKA. THE WOMAN I SPOKE WITH TOLD ME TO CONTACT THE JUNEAU DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS THE CLOSEST TO ME. I CONTACTED THE JUNEAU DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THAT HE COULD SEND ME THE PARTS FROM JUNEAU AND I COULD HAVE THE LABOR DONE IN KETCHIKAN, SENDING HIM THE BILL FOR THE LABOR, WHICH I WOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR AN ALLOTTED AMOUNT OF MONEY. I AGREED, BUT HE NEEDED TO FIND OUT IF HE COULD SEND ME BOTH BALL JOINTS, AS I HAD ONE BALL JOINT REPLACED IN AUGUST OF 2004, WITHOUT BEING REIMBURSED BY DAIMLERCHRYSLER. TODAY, AUGUST 1, 2005, THE GENTLEMAN FROM THE JUNEAU DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE BOTH BALL JOINTS REPLACED, BUT THAT HE COULD NO LONGER SEND ME THE PARTS BECAUSE DAIMLERCHRYSLER HAD CONTACTED HIM AND NOW PROHIBITED HIM FROM DOING RECALLS IN THIS FASHION AS IT WAS DEEMED FRAUDULENT. I DIRECTLY CONTACTED DAIMLERCHRYSLER AND SPOKE WITH THE SUPERVISOR "KATHERINE" WHO STATED THAT I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO SEATTLE OR JUNEAU TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL OR THEY WOULD NOT PAY TO FIX IT. I TOLD HER I LIVED ON AN ISLAND AND COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY THE FERRY FEE TO DO THAT OR GO WITHOUT ANY TRANSPORTATION FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. SHE SAID THEY COULD NOT COMPENSATE ME FOR TRANSPORTATION AS IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MY LIVING ON AN ISLAND, BUT THAT I HAD TO HAVE THE RECALL DONE BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. I TOLD HER I DIDN'T WANT THEM TO PAY FOR MY VEHICLE BEING TRANSPORTED, I JUST WANTED THEM TO SEND THE PARTS AS I HAD BEEN TOLD WOULD HAPPEN SO I COULD HAVE IT FIXED. I HAVE MY AUTOMOBILE ROUTINELY MAINTAINED, EVERY 6-8 MONTHS, (OIL, TUNE UP,...)OIL SLUDGE BAKING IN ENGINE BLOCK-CYLINDER AT 50,000 AND AGAIN 114000. CORROSION BUILD UP & GUNK IN CYLINDER BLOCK, COILS & SPARK PLUG CORROSION CAUSING BAD-STRONG ORDER IN AUTOMOBILE AND SPUTTERING, POOR EMISSION. TRANSMISSION SLIPS FROM TIME TO TIME AT 25,000 AND NOW AGAIN AT 114000, WITH LEAKS WHICH WE CAN SMELL VERY STRONG IN AUTOMOBILE. I HAVE TAKEN MY 2000 DODGE DURANGO TO FOREST LAKE DODGE DEALER FOR A CLUNKING NOISE IN MY FRONT END OVER YEAR AGO. I HAD A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. THEY SAID AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THEY COULDN'T HEAR ANYTHING. AGAIN WITHIN A COUPLE MONTHS I RETURNED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ALONG WITH MY PASSENGER WINDOW NOT GOING UP OR DOWN CORRECTLY. ONCE AGAIN THEY SAID OH YOU NEED SHOCKS AND YOU NEED YOUR SERVICE OF WARRENTY PROFORMED OR YOUR WARRENTLY WONT BE ANY GOOD, SO I SAID YES DO WHAT IS UNDER WARRENTY NOTHING ELSE UNLESS I SAY IT OK, WILL MORE WORK WAS PROFORMED AND I ENDED UP PAYING HUNDRED PLUS DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET. AGAIN THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CLUCKING NOISE NOTED AND THAT THE PASSENGER WINDOW ACCORDING TO THE COMPUTER SAID IT FUNCTIONS CORRECTLY. INSIDE WHERE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE COMPOTENT ALSO COMES LOOSE FROM THE MAIN FLOOR. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW MANTO WHICH SCREWS TO THE FRAME OF THE DURANGO. I HAD SIDE STEPS PUT ON AFTER PURCHASE BY CHRY. DODGE IN FORREST LAKE AND DRIVERS SIDE WITHIN IN ONE AND HALF YEARS FELL LOOSE AND THEY SAID I JUST NEEDED TO HAVE SOMEONE PUT IN NEW SCREWS THAT IT WASN;T COVERED. I MYSELF INSPECTED THE OPERATION OF THE LEFT REAR DOOR AND FOUND THAT THE ACTUATOR WAS BAD. I CRACKED OPEN ACTUATOR AND FOUND THAT THE GEAR WAS STRIPPED. THIS CAUSING THE WINDING SOUND AND FAILURE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE GEAR IS MADE OF SOME KIND OF SOFT PLASTIC MATERIAL FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. ABOUT THE REAR WINDOW, I CHECKED AND FOUND POWER GOING TO THE MOTORS. BUT WITH ONE OF THE WINDOW MOTORS I TAPPED IT AND GOT IT TO WORK FOR ACOUPLE OF DAYS. WITH MY EXPERINCE AS AN AUTO/TRUCK/BUS TECHNICIAN THE MOTORS ARE DEFECTED ALONG WITH THE DOOR ACTUATORS. I HOPE THESE ISSUES CAN GET RESOLVED, BECAUSE OVERALL MY VEHICLE IS GOOD AT 60,000 MILES.

I HAD MY BRAKES REPLACED AT 23000 MILES AND EVERY 3 MONTHS SINCE. THEY ARE ONLY WEARING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE THE WORST BUT WEAR ON BOTH SIDES. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS BECAUSE THEY WERE METALLIC. THE BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY NOISY WITH SQUEALING AND GRINDING SOUNDS. I HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED AND HAVE SPEND OVER 3000 DOLLAR SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR AND I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. ALSO THE LEFT CHILD LOCK IS NOT WORKING AND THEREFORE CAUSES THE DOOR TO ONLY BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE HANDLE WHEN PULLED FROM THE INSIDE HAS NO RESISTANCE AND THIS HAS BEEN CHECKED AND EVERYTHING IS IN TACT. AT ANY GIVEN TIME, ONE OF MY THREE BRAKE LIGHTS IS NOT WORKING. SOME TIMES, ONLY ONE LIGHT IS WORKING OR NONE OF THEM ARE WORKING. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION LEAKS FLUID ON A REGULAR BASIS. I HAVE HAD MY PERSONAL MECHANIC TO REFILL THE TRANSMISSION AT LEAST TWICE AFTER LESS THAN 3,000 MILES AND HAD HOSES CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THERE WERE NO APPARENT LEAKS. NONE WERE FOUND. THE LAST TIME THE TRANSMISSION WAS FILLED WAS AT THE END OF MAY AND IT IS JERKING REALLY HARD AGAIN AFTER IT WAS REFILLED LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AGO. THAT DOES NOT APPEAR NORMAL TO ME.*JB

FIRST THE 2000 PICKUPS WERE SUPPOSE TO COME WITH TIRE SIZE P225R75-16 BUT THEY CAME WITH SIZE P245R75-16. AT ABOUT MILAGE 15,663. I NOTICED THE THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS RUBBING WHEN MAKING A SHARP LEFT TURN SO I TOOK IT IN TO THE DODGE DEALER HERE IN PLAIN VIEW. THEY FIRST TOLD ME THAT I HAD PUT OVERSIZE TIRES ON MY PICK UP AND THAT IS WHY IT WAS RUBBING. AFTER A LOT OF TALKING AND CHECKING IS WHEN I FOUND OUT THE THEY HAD PUT OVERSIZE TIRES ON THE 2000 MODEL 1/2 TON PICKUPS. THEY SENT THE PICKUP TO AN SHOP AND THE PICK UP STARTED PULL AT THAT TIME. IT HAS BEEN TO TWO OTHER ALINEMENT SHOPS AND THEY ALL SAY THAT IT IS WITHIN SPECS BUT PULLS HARD TO THE RIGHT. ALSO THE OVERSIZE TIRES DO AFFECT THE SPEED-OMETER BY REGISTERING LESS MILES PER HOUR THAN YOU ARE GOING. DT
