CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE SHIFTING GEAR ISSUE. WENT TO A MECHANIC WHO DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON IT AND THE RESULTS ARE: Transmission Error Messages U0415 and P1CB1 and OBDII Codes ($03) shows the same error message as Transmission P1CB1 Manufacturer Specific. the closest Chrysler Dealership is unable to perform anything on this vehicle as they no longer are licensed for the Fiat Software. Hence, they are unable to inform me if this is covered by Fiat or if this is something that I need to fix out of pocket. Seeing that the 214 Fiat 500L does have a Power Train-Automatic Transmission Control Module and Power Train: Automatic Transmission (moving the transmission shift lever may have a delayed effect or no effect on selecting a transmission gear) = I believe it is covered, but it is not showing as a recall for my VIN #. How do I submit this or where/who can assist is getting this recalled and corrected? after looking at all of the complaints within NHTSA there are approximately 50 pages of combined complaints with each page showing 4 "call outs" and the majority being Power Train and reading pretty much all of them it appears that they are all the same issue. Their vehicles along with mine were not recalled; but we are having the same issues. What is needed or what needs to happen for all of the 500L Fiat being recalled for the Power Train issue? Does somebody need to die due to the failure of the Power Train when they are in traffic and the vehicle basically shuts down and/or off? Note, the miles on these complains vary from 55,000 up to 100,000

parked car, getting ready to leave and would not shift into gear. Finally shifted into gear and there was little to no power when accelerating. shifting into gears is hard, jerks vehicle when it does drop into a gear. No acceleration and when it does shifts gear with a lot of difficulty

The contact owns a 2014 Fiat 500L. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was running, the transmission warning light illuminated, and a "Possible Ice" message was displayed even though there was no inclement weather. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the failure was not replicated. On another occasion while stopped, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The message "Shift into Neutral and Then Select Gear" was displayed. The contact shifted from Neutral to Drive. The vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was then towed to the same dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred within a month. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the dealer stated that the vehicle was already repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, but no diagnostic result was provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

I was driving my car down a busy road when I approached a red light and slowed to a stop. I kept my foot on the brake and the car in drive until the light turned green. Then, I tried to use the gas pedal without success and got an error message about needing to switch the gear to neutral. I was stuck in the road, unable to make the drive or neutral options work with the gas. Then, I tried switching my car into park and turning it off and back on again. It flashed on the "P" several times before I turned it off and refused to switch to the driving gear when I turned it back on. I had to put it in neutral and have strangers help push my vehicle off the road into a parking lot. The incident occurred on a busy street in the middle of a holiday weekend afternoon and caused tons of traffic and inconvenience and honking and stress.

Engine randomly stalls and will not restart upon entering on-ramps. Automatic transmission randomly fails and slips into limp mode while accelerating from stop lights or accelerating into highway traffic. This issue has caused numerous light rear end collisions with other vehicles following too closely when the transmission malfunctions, causing the other vehicle to impact the rear bumper of the 500L. I had to have the vehicle towed out of traffic because it would not restart or move under it’s own power

My car refuses to shift gears despite being able to start. The car and its gear shift (and transmission, power train, and any other potentially affected parts) are available for inspection upon request; however, the vehicle would have to be towed as it cannot be driven. There was zero prior warning, notice, etc. Cold weather may be a contributing factor, but this issue has been reported numerous time across this vehicle's make, model, and year (2014 FIAT 500L) by other owners to the NHTSA already. I've driven it sparingly since I moved states, so there is zero reason for the vehicle to stop shifting gears all of a sudden. Again, the car issued no warning lamps nor other messages nor symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, the failure simply occurred without warning. The vehicle is stuck in my driveway and blocking other cars. Had I been driving when this event occurred, there could have been a serious danger and/or disaster that could have put my life (and others) at risk.

The contact owns a 2014 Fiat 500L. The contact stated while her daughter was driving 50 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The driver was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, and the contact became aware that the vehicle had shifted into neutral independently and was unable to shift back into gear. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the body control module. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

So the dealer fixed the transmission / power train recall in 2020, my car is now doing exactly what the recall states, getting stuck in park, asking me to put engine in neutral and then drive without the car moving, so on and so forth. Fiat, as well as the repair dealer northside imports, is refusing to fix this issue as they state the car is out of warranty, and they feel they fixed the recall. This car only has 73k miles on it. The other issue of complaint is that the wire melted on the blower fan for the ac unit. Smelled burning wires in the car, and both fiat and dealer state that is normal wear and tear. That is not, as it could have caused a fire inside the car, luckily i was able to pull over and put out the smoldering wire. I need this fixed, and fiat is refusing to cover. They stated i need a new power train module and transmission which cost 12k which is 4k higher than the actual value of the car. During this whole time, fiat and the dealership was recommending that i purchase a new car. I want to know how i can get this fixed or the manufacturer to acknowledge they have a safety issue. I also got charged 326 dollars just for them to diagnose the issue. nothing fixed. 326 dollars to plug in a machine for 15 minutes. This is very wrong.

The transmission went out and radiator fluid temp high light came on. Fiat started to not be able to shift or too easily shifted by itself. The safety of others and myself were at risk because the car could have stopped or switched into other gears on the road and caused an accident.

It only has 42,000 miles and the transmission light came on and it didn't want to go into park. The dealership won't tow it and keeps trying to day the are going to charge me for it when it still has both recalls on it. I had to play with the shifter to get it out of reverse it wanted to stay in reverse. And I was afraid it was going to run someone over because I. Couldn't park it

The contact owns a 2014 Fiat 500L. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was making an abnormal clunking sound. The contact smelled a burning odor and saw black smoke inside the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that a gear was damaged. The part was replaced; however, while driving at 70 MPH, the transmission warning light illuminated and a message indicating to shift into neutral(N), then drive(D) was displayed. The vehicle started decelerating independently. The contact stated that as she shifted into neutral(N) and then into drive(D), the vehicle responded as needed. However, the failure had been reoccurring while driving and coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the oil temperature sensors had failed. The vehicle was then taken to the Chrysler dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure and they could not service the vehicle as they did not have equipment for Fiat vehicles. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact stated that after depressing the accelerator pedal the regained motive power. The contact stated that after the vehicle accelerated to 60 MPH the vehicle started to decelerate independently. The contact stated that the service transmission and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the failure was due to a software update that needed to be performed by the dealer. The dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The contact was informed that there was a software update previously available which had since been closed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The Fiat 2014 automatic transmission on my 500L randomly does not continue to move the car when the transmission is in gear. This is a potential collision hazard to me or other vehicles. The car randomly does not move/accelerate when the gas pedal is depressed. The car coasts to a stop while still in gear and I am pressing the accelerator. I need to restart the car when this happens. From Fiat 500USA: "Cause of this issue is the GSM, manufactured Ficosa International, S.A. of Spain. Wide build tolerances within the Supervisor Microcontroller (SMC) inside the GSM can allow temperature to affect the data transfer rates. When the data transfer rate of the SMC becomes desynchronized with the Main Microcontroller (MMC), the GSM resets and the signals to the transmission may be delayed. This can result in an inability to get the vehicle out of park and/or the transmission not receiving, or there is a delay to receive, the intended gear selection." About 67251 miles while stopped in traffic the "Transmission Light came ON" . Car would not move while in gear until I turned the car off then restarted the car. The dealership replaced the transmission control module (Invoice # 25883, $1670.97) in November 2022. " P1CB1-00 Gear Shift Actuator 1 Engage Failure" code stored. The car would not move while in reverse in the dealership parking lot when I went to up pick it up after repairs. I put my foot on the brake and called Gary to come out. He came out, sat in the car and I showed him that car was in reverse but would not move. He exited the car after turning it off. I saw three failed attempts to move the car while i waited for my ride home. VALENTI ALFA ROMEO FIAT in Hartford CT. " No codes stored at this time. .. Unable to duplicate." " Based on symptoms the customer has described the next logical step would be [to] replace ... $4200 parts $1600 labor plus tax. Customer declined repairs at this time."

BEGINNING AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR USED FIAT 500L WE BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE TRUNK/BOOT LID NOT OPENING. THE OUTSIDE LATCH NOR THE KEYFOB WOULD OPEN THE TRUNK. TRUNK HAS TO BE OPENED USING THE EMERGENCY LATCH RELEASE WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS EASY TO GET TO. PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING AND OFTEN WHEN A VISIT IS PLANNED TO DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM IS NOT HAPPENING AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE DIAGNOSED. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FIAT AND UNLESS WE ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSIS FEE AT A DEALERSHIP THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST US. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN AND CAN BE EASILY FOUND BY A SEARCH FOR FIAT 500L BOOT OR TRUNK LID ON SITES SUCH AS FIAT500OWNERS.COM, FIXYA.COM,FIATFORUM.COM, AND OTHERS. I WILL PASS THIS SITE ALONG TO OTHERS SO THEY CAN BE REPORTED AND AN INVESTIGATION CAN BE CONDUCTED AND GET THIS ONGOING PROBLEM RESOLVED. TRANSMISSION SEIZED, CLUTCH SMELLED BURNT AND BEGAN TO SMOKE WHICH STALLED THE ENGINE. THE GEARS DISABLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE CAR'S RESPONSE WAS "NORMAL" I TOOK MY CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE CAR AND READ THE COMPUTER CODES. THE CODES THAT DISPLAYED ARE C415H-50197. DEALER CLAIMS THAT CODE IS NON-EXISTENT.

I took my car in to have a regular oil change. Got a call from the mechanic telling me that all of a sudden, the car will not get out of park and says there is a transmission error now on the display screen. During the 2 days that it took for them to get the car out of park the mechanic informed me that there is a known issue for 2014 Fiat 500L vehicles "all of a sudden" not getting out of park and that it is a recall. I called Chrysler and told them the issue, but they informed me that my VIN number is not showing as a recall. I would like for some help in looking into this issue because my car was working just fine before the oil change and now it is having the exact issues others have faced having the same year, same model and same make of vehicle.

I BROUGHT MY 2014 500L TO FIAT DEALER TO TAKE CARE OF THE RECALLS REGARDING THE SHIFTING AND ENGINE IDLE SPEED. BEFORE I BROUGHT THEIR IT WAS RUNNING FINE. I GOT IT BACK THE SAME DAY AND WHEN I RECEIVED IT GOT A REPORT THAT ALL WAS GOOD. NOW MY CAR IS ACTING UP. SOMETIMES I STEP ON ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENS THAT WAS AT MY HOME. ALSO WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE IT DOESN'T ENGAGE AND ON THE SCREEN IT TELLS ME TO PUT IN PARK THEN NEUTRAL AND THEN DRIVE THAT WAS AT MY SONS SCHOOL. SOME TIMES IT STILL DOESN'T WORK AND HAVE TO DO IT MULTIPLE TIMES. I BROUGHT IT BACK AND TOLD THEM THEIR SOFTWARE UPGRADE HAS MADE MY CAR WORSE THAN IT WAS. THEY EVALUATED IT AND THE SERVICE WRITER SAID HE WOULD NEED TO CHARGE ME 8HRS OF LABOR @ $185 AN HR. JUST TO EVALUATE THE PROBLEM. IT STILL THEIR AND WILL CALL FIAT DIRECTLY TO TRY TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAFFORD CHRYSLER FIAT (7611 LOISDALE RD, SPRINGFIELD, VA 22150) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TURBO CHARGER FAILED TO CREATE SUFFICIENT BOOST PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,081.

FRUSTRATION IS THE ONLY WORD CAN DESCRIBE THIS HORRIBLE CAR FIAT 500L SINCE I BOUGHT THAT CAR IS BEEN TOLL SO MANY TIMES TO FIAT DEALER SERVICE. WHEN WAS UNDER GUARANTEE, FIAT SERVICE ALWAYS SAID "IT IS NOTHING", "NOT PROBLEM", "NOW IS WORKING FINE". EVEN WHEN THE CAR STOPPED ON THE STREET WITH SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE. NOW WHEN THE GUARANTEE EXPIRED 4 MONTHS AGO: THE CAR NEEDS "NEW MOTOR STARTER", THEY CHANGED ($1600 PLUS $300 RENTAL CAR FOR 21 DAYS). BUT ONCE THE CAR HAS THE NEW MOTOR STARTER. SURPRISE!!! THE PROBLEM IS ALSO THE ENGINE!!! NOT POWER AT ALL. NOTHING!!!! NEEDS A NEW MOTOR FOR CAR THAT NOW HIS PRICE IS ONLY $6,000!!! SO BASICALLY FIAT JUST RIPPED ME SELLING A DEFECTIVE CAR!!!! THE ENGINE IS DEFECTIVE!!! NOW I'M GOING TO MOVE THE CAR TO MY HOUSE AND TRY TO SELL IT AS JUNK!

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. RAN OBDII CODE LATER SAME DAY AND RECEIVED CODE P0299 "LOW TURBO BOOST". TOOK CAR TO FIAT DEALERSHIP; THEY KEPT FOR 4 DAYS ADVISING INTER COOLER AND SENSOR WERE REPLACED DUE TO POOR MACHINING AT THE FACTORY. HAD CAR BACK FOR 2 DAYS; WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. STOPPED AT A REST AREA A FEW MILES LATER AND RAN OBDII CODE AND RECEIVED SAME P0299 CODE. TOOK CAR BACK TO FIAT DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY AND IT IS STILL WITH THEM AS OF NOW

STEERING

Steering sticks at center, smooth straight roads are the worst. 70 mph small steering corrections cause the slight swerving to keep it in its lane. The amount of force is increasing as the vehicle ages, currently at 47,390 miles in 05/15/2023. The steering problem was first reported in 2016 and it has never had a successful repair. Multiple dealers have said they can’t duplicate the problem.

FIRST, I HAVE LOVED THIS CAR - EXCEPT: RIGHT NOW I HAVE 22,315 MILES ON MY 2014 FIAT 500L. THERE IS A DEFINITE STEERING PROBLEM THAT IS INTERMITTENT BUT EVERY TIME IT REOCCURS IT'S WORSE. TODAY I HAD DIFFICULTY KEEPING THE CAR IN THE LANE AND WHEN I GOT HOME FELT AS THOUGH I'D BEEN DRIVING A TRUCK! THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN IT WAS NEW AND I COULD DRIVE FOR 5-6 HOURS ON THE FREEWAY WITH NO ISSUES. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER ONCE AND WAS TOLD THAT'S THE WAY THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO DRIVE. THAT WAS ON 2/20/18 WITH 10,966 MILES. SPEED DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER. MY HUSBAND AND I THINK THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BECAUSE THEY DRIFT OUT OF THEIR LANE.

EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE, THE POWER STEERING WON'T ENGAGE WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR. I CAN TURN THE WHEEL, BUT IT ONLY TURNS SLOWLY WITH A LOT OF PRESSURE APPLIED. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON TO FIX IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR OR FIVE TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR (APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS). IT HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY OR THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, WHERE I NORMALLY PARK.

THE STEERING HANGS OR STICKS. IT STARTED A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. I WAS TOLD IT DOES THAT. IT STARTED DOING THIS AROUND 50 TO 70 WHEN FIRST NOTICED AND NOW DOES IT AT ALL SPEEDS. WHEN IT FIRST STARTED IT WOULD COME AND GO AWAY SLIGHTLY BUT NEVER COMPLETELY. NOW IT IS ALL THE TIME AND ANY SPEED. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT MAKES THE VEHICLE STEER SLIGHTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN THE LANE SINCE YOU CAN'T MAKE SLIGHT STEERING CORRECTIONS. WHEN TRYING TO MAKE STEERING CORRECTIONS THE STEERING WILL STICK OR HANG AND THEN RELEASE ABRUPTLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE SLIGHTLY BACK AND FORTH IN THE LANE. AT TIMES IT IS BAD ENOUGH TO RESEMBLE A VERY DRUNK DRIVER OVER CORRECTING. IT IS BAD ENOUGH THAT WE DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. IT'S A SHAME FIAT/CHRYSLER WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD A FEW CLOSE CALLS BUT NO ACCIDENT YET DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. ALSO THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR ANYWHERE AT ANY SPEED EXCEPT TURNING. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MOSTLY WHEN GOING STRAIGHT. STARTED TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING WHEEL STICKING. I NOTICE IT MOST AT HIGHER SPEEDS, 60-70 MPH. IT TAKES A LITTLE MORE PRESSURE THAN NORMAL TO TO MAKE SLIGHT ADJUSTMENTS TO THE WHEEL TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT. AFTER I'VE BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A WHILE, IT FEELS LIKE I'M FIGHTING THE WHEEL. STICKING" HAS BECOME A REGULAR PROBLEM AT LOWER SPEEDS IN TOWN AND AT TIMES THE WHEEL ALMOST HAS TO BE FORCED TO KEEP THE CAR IN A LANE, WHICH OFTEN TIMES CAUSES OVER-STEERING AND VEERING INTO ANOTHER LANE. ON AUG 19TH MY CAR WENT IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO THE UNSAFE FAILURES OF ITEMS REPLACED DURING THE 2 RECALLS. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE GEAR SHIFT MODULE AND POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE WERE BOTH RECALLED AND "FIXED". YET ON OCOTOBER 7TH 2020, I EXPERIENCED THE INABILITY TO SHIFT AND CONTROL THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTION. I HAD UNINTENDED DIRECTIONAL MOVEMENT. I EXPERIENCED A DIMINISHED ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE SPEED AS EXPECTED. I WAS ONLY GOING 20MPH-40MPH ON STREETS. THE CAR WAS SWITCHING GEARS ON ITS ON AND STALLING IN TRAFFIC. WHEN I WOULD PUSH ON GAS PEDDLE IT WAS ROLLING BACK WHILE ON AN INCLINE. WHAT WAS MOST ALARMING WAS THAT AS I TRIED TO GET THE CAR HOME IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE TO GET IT INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. OBVIOUSLY THE RECALLS IN BOTH 2014 & 2017 FAILED TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN PER AUG 19TH'S SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS, AVOIDING AGGRESSIVE HIGH SPEEDS AND WHEN IDLE PUT IN PARK TO AVOID OVER HEATING. My airbag light keeps coming on. It has been happening for the last 4 years. Everytime there is a temperature change more than 10 degrees the light comes on and stays on during driving. After the car is driven for a while and it's parked and turned off it resets. I've had the dealership check it and they say there is no code that shows the light being on. The app says I don't have any unresolved recalls but I think the replacement part is faulty.

I ALONG WITH MANY OTHER 2014 FIAT 500L HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. OUR OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS NOT READING CORRECTLY WHICH 100% AFFECTS THE HEATING AND COOLING. THE TEMPERATURE ALWAYS READS 30 DEGREES COLDER THEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE REALLY IS. SO MY AC WON'T RUN COLD ON A 90 DEGREE TEMPERATURE DAY (LIKE TODAY). BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS IT IS 60 DEGREES OUTSIDE. IT WILL ACTUALLY ONLY BLOW WARM AIR ON AN 80 DEGREE DAY BECAUSE THE TEMP SHOWS THAT IT IS 50 DEGREES OUTSIDE. HOW DOES THIS GET FIXED WHEN WE CAN NOT PURCHASE THE PART NEEDED. OTHERS BOUGHT THE WHOLE NEW DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR THAT HOUSES THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR THAT IT 'THE PROBLEM'. AND WITHIN MONTHS, THIS SENSOR DOES THE SAME THING AND STARTS READING THE WRONG TEMPERATURE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. THE TEMPERATURE IS READING WRONG 100 PERCENT OF THE TIME. The sunroof exploded on his Fiat 500 L while he was driving. It was very early in the day, no other vehicles on the road so no debris hit it. It just exploded out of nowhere. Insurance has been notified to inspect the damage. The sunroof was closed at the time, due to it being 20 degrees. No prior issue with it. This has happened to other drivers with this particular vehicle per online chat rooms.

A MISALIGNMENT OF THE LEFT FRONT CORNER PANEL AND THE SIDE PANEL, AS WELL AS A MISALIGNMENT OF THE LEFT REAR CORNER PANEL AND THE SIDE PANEL HAVE TAKEN PLACE (SEE PICTURES). THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT IT IS BECAUSE OF AN "IMPACT." I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE "CLIPS" THAT HOLD THE PANELS TOGETHER. UNDER THE REAR BUMPER, THERE IS A CRACK IN THE PLASTIC BY THE MUFFLER (SEE PICTURE). THAT WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY BACKING INTO A SNOWBANK. THERE ARE NO OTHER "SCRATCH" MARKS ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE REAR BUMPER, AND THERE ARE NO SCRATCH MARKS (CAUSED BY HITTING SOMETHING) UNDER THE FRONT BUMPER. THERE ARE NO ISSUES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. I WILL ACCEPT THE FACT THAT I MAY HAVE BACKED INTO A SNOWBANK. HOWEVER, IF THAT CAUSED THE PANEL SEPARATION, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WAY THE PANELS ARE CONNECTED. WITH THE FRONT PANELS, I AM AMAZED THAT AN "IMPACT" THAT SHOWS NO VISIBLE MARKS WOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO CAUSE THE PANELS TO SEPARATE/MISALIGN. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF THE "CLIPS" THAT CONNECT THE PANELS ARE THAT WEAK, THAT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THERE WAS ANY ACTUAL IMPACT. While driving in traffic the check transmission light came on and car would no longer accelerate coming to a stop in traffic. Gears were not recognized per dash lights. Towed to shop for transmission repair which failed again within a six month time frame when once again while driving check engine light, check transmission light, check temp light all alternately started flashing, car quit accelerating and coasted to stop.

For the past several months my car will simply stop accelerating while I am driving down the road. I can put my foot on the gas, and it will not accelerate. The RPM's and speed go down and I must pull over to the side of the road quickly and turn the engine off, wait 5 minutes or so and try again. Sometimes I must wait longer before it will go back in gear and accelerate. It has been very unsafe when this happens on the interstate putting me, my passengers, and other cars/drivers at risk because it happens with no warning lights and not enough time to get over. This same problem happened before in 2017, and FIAT issued a recall. The dealership stated that recall was fixed and cannot use it for this problem even though it is the EXACT same issue. They state I need a new transmission now costing $9,876.00 repairs/labor for a 2014 FIAT 500L I bought for $13,000..... If this problem was acknowledged before, why isn't FIAT fixing it again?

CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO STALL 12/17/15 AND BACK IN THE SHOP DID NOT IDENTIFY ISSUE UNTIL 12/26/15 AND TOLD THE ISSUE WAS CONTROL MODULE 9/9/17 CAR STARTED TO STALL AGAIN DID NOT IDENTIFY ISSUE. 10/26/17 STALLING AGAIN DID NOT IDENTIFY ISSUE BE BELIEVE DEALER HAD RECALL. DECEMBER 2018 CALL STALLING ISSUES OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY AND IN JANUARY CODE STATED CONTROL MODULE WAS FAILING AGAIN. 6/1/2018 COMPLAINED TO FIAT ABOUT INEXPERIENCED SERVICE TECHS. 11/2/18 CAR BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE, ROTATION AND INSPECTION CHECKS. 12/7/18 CAR IS NOT DRIVING PROPERLY LEARNED TODAY ONE BRAKE PAD OF ALL INSTALLED WORN DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE OTHERS ARE AT 10. VERY CONCERN WITH ONLY 26K MILES ON CAR FIAT LACK OF RESPONSE TO CONSUMER TO RESOLVE THE CAR CONCERNS. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V192000 (POWER TRAIN) BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL HER BACK IN THREE DAYS AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA PER HER OWNER'S MANUAL. MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2013. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ESC PULLING US INTO TRAFFIC AND OFF THE ROAD. Issues with shifting out of park. Random acceleration, stalling, lagging, & jerking while on the road & in full speed traffic. When took car to dealership was told issues with my PCM. PCM had been recalled & fixed with previous owner in 2017. Now the second time having a PCM issue, couldn't do anything with the already fixed recall so i was forced to pay almost 2,000. Now still leaving me with the same issues. Cruise control accelerates on its own, almost causing accident with other cars on highway. Will be going 60 in traffic & it will randomly start to decrease in speed while foot is fully on gas. Possible throttle body issue, RMPS rev up to red while only going 35mph.

CAR INTERMITTENTLY SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL WHEN faced with an uphill grade forcing car backwards. We have had over 5 nrear accidents involving rolling off hillsides ar onto property or into traffic behind. Car will not engage we have been desperately against a steep hill many times. Also front ABS brakes intermittently grab 1 wheel forcing car sideways at 40 mph. Also car emits rattle sound coming from lower gearbox or engine area noticeable through cab, both before and after a complete $4300 transmission rebuild. Service completed by FIAT and Alfa Romeo od Van Nuys California. This car is going to kill us. Fiat is dragging their feet. I will list the first incident below at March 18, 2023 but then many more occurred after, even after trans rebuild. This design is life-threatening. Who rebuilds a trans at under 50,000 miles??

I am having severe transmission issues. Gears are 'unavailable' and will switch me into D1, D2, and so on, all the way up to D8. I can feel the gears shifting (not in a good way), and if the brake is applied too suddenly it will fall out of gear and the service engine light is on, the car will not move. This has happened several times to me, while driving (on the freeway!) VEry dangerous. I see there are 3 recalls for Fiat 500L. I wonder if I am one of the affected.

FEB 9 2017 WHILE IN A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO REVERSE HOWEVER THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD CAUSING MY WIFE TO CRASH INTO A CONCRETE POLE IN THE PARKING LOT DAMAGING THE FRONT END. I CONTACTED FIAT CUSTOMER CARE ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND AFTER ALOT OF TALKS THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE TRANSMISSION ERROR BUT NOT THE DAMAGE IT DID I FIXED OTHER REPAIRS SO THE VEHICLE COULD STILL BE DRIVEN. SEPT 15 2017 WHILE DRIVING IN CONGESTED TRAFFIC VEHICLE WAS SMOKING AND SHIFTING ROUGH WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS IF GAS PEDAL WAS NOT FULLY DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. NOW WE GET THE RECALL NOTICE THAT STATES BASICALY WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DESCRIBING. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BEING THAT IT IS FAR AWAY AND HAVE NO OTHER TRANSPORTATION. NOV 24 2017 WHILE AT A LIGHT THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING GRINDING NOISES AND SMELLING LIKE BURNING TRANS FLUID THEN STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER ON NOV 28TH FOR RECAL AND LOOK INTO THE OTHER ISSUES LIKE HESITATION WHILE PRESSING GAS PEDAL MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS SCARY WHEN ON COMING TRAFFIC IS NEAR.

MY 2014 FIAT 500L TREKKING BEGAN TO PRODUCE A HORRIBLE SMELL WHILE AND CUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING MAKING STEERING OUT OF WAY OF TRAFFIC BEHIND ME VERY DIFFICULT. THE CAR WENT FROM GOING ABOUT 45-50 MILES PER HOUR TO ABOUT 5 MPH IN A MATTER OF A FEW SECOND, EVERYTHING LOCKED UP MAKING STEERING VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE AND THEN FINALLY COASTED TO A FINAL STOP. UPON ME DE RANKING THE CAR I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT IT TO DRIVE AT ALL. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHICH I PURCHASED IT FROM ONLY 3 MONTHS EARLIER. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE MID DECEMBER AND THIS HAPPENED IN MARCH. THE DEALER HAD CAR TOWED TO A FIAT (CLEARLAKE DODGE/JEEP/FIAT). THEY INITIALLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND OTHER COMPLIMENTARY COMPONENTS. I WAS CALLED TO PICK UP MY CAR AFTER BEING IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND TOLD IT WAS FIXED, HOWEVER WITHIN THE 10 MILES OF LEAVING THE LOT THE CAR DID THE SAME THING BUT THIS TIME ON AN OVERPASS OF A MAJOR FREEWAY WITH AN 18 WHEELER TRUCK BEHIND ME. I RETURNED THE CAR TO CLEARLAKE FIAT. THEY KEPT IT FOR SEVERAL MORE DAYS AND HAD ME TO PICK IT UP A SECOND TIME; SAME RESULT! IN ALL I HAVE RETURNED MY CAR OVER 4 TIMES AND HAVE ONLY HAD USE OF IT FOR 3 MONTHS OR LESS OF THE 11 MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT. I CAN NO LONGER PAY A CAR NOTE FOR A CAR THAT SEEMINGLY CAN NOT BE REPAIRED IT IS DESTROYING MY FINANCES AND PUTTING THE LITTLE LIFE OF MYSELF AND FAMILY IN GRAVE DANGER EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT TO PICK IT UP AFTER BEING TOLD THAT IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED. I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CARMAX. HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN BEGGING CARMAX, CLEARLAKE FIAT, THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND MY FINANCE COMPANY FOR SOME ASSISTANCE IN REMEDYING THIS CRISIS AND HAVE ONLY GOTTEN A RUN AROUND AND NO ANSWERS, HELP, REMEDIES OR PROPER REPAIR OF MY VEHICLE AND AS OF TODAY 11/16/2017 THEY STILL HAVE MY VEHICLE AND NO ONE RETURNS MY CALLS.

THE RADIO DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP INFORMED ME THAT EVERY FIAT HE HAS SEEN HAS THIS PROBLEM AND TO SEE IF IT HAS BEEN RECALLED. I AM NOT ABLE TO USE THE CAMERA ON THE CAR, THE RADIO AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ON MY DASH BOARD BECAUSE NONE OF THE RADIO IS WORKING. THE LIGHTS INSIDE THE CAR IN THE FRONT DO NOT WORK. I AM NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE FORM THEM TO NOT WORK. I AM NOT SURE IF THAT IS BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE RADIO EITHER.

CAR STARTED ACTING WEIRD 3-4 WEEKS AGO FINALLY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THE POWERTRAIN WAS NOT WORKING AND THERE WERE SOME RECALLS AND THEY COULD NOT FIX DUE TO THE CAR IS NOT GIVING CODES AND THE TRANMISSION RECALL CANT BE FIXED. AND THIS WOULD COST 8832.82 TO FIX ON A CAR PURCHASE NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD FROM A DEALER ENTERPRISE. 2 RECALLS AND NO ONE TOLD ME OR THE DEALERS DID NOT FIX BEFORE SELLING ME THE CAR.

WHEN THE CAR IS ON A DOWN SLOPE AND YOU SHIFT TO REVERSE THE CAR WILL LEAP FORWARD AND ON AN UPSLOPE SHIFTING INTO DRIVE IT ROLLS FREELY BACKWARDS. IN THE LATEST INCIDENT WE WERE ON HWY 101 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WAITING IN A LINE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE TRAFFIC DELAY. WHEN WE SHIFTED FROM PARK INTO DRIVE THE CAR ACCELERATED BACKWARDS . FORTUNATELY THE CAR BEHIND US HAD LEFT AMPLE SPACE. IT ALSO HAPPENED PARKING ON A HILL IN SAN FRANCISCO AND FORTUNATELY THERE WAS ONLY A CURB IN BACK. THE MOVEMENT IS NOT LIKE WHAT HAPPENS IN A MANUAL SHIFT CAR. IT FEELS AS IF IT IS ACCELERATING IN THE DIRECTION OPPOSITE TO THE INTENDED. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS IN THE STEERING. WE WERE ON A VERY TIGHT WINDING ROAD HWY20. DRIVING FROM WILLETS TO FT. BRAGG AND BACK AND THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENED AND RESISTED TURNING IN THESE TIGHT CURVES. IT FELT AS IF THE POWER STEERING WAS FAILING OR THE STEERING WHEEL WAS IN DANGER OF LOCKING. I JUST TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND WAS GIVEN A WARNING FROM CHRYSLER THAT THE '(HSA) MAY NOT ACTIVATE AND SLIGHT ROLLING MAY OCCUR'. THE ROLLING IS NOT SLIGHT AND IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR ON MOUNTAIN SIDES JUST PLAIN DANGEROUS. THE STEERING PROBLEM DID NOT MANIFEST ITSELF TO THE TECH. THIS CAR HAS HAD A NUMBER OF POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEMS. THESE BEING THE MOST RECENT. IT TOOK THE RECALL, AFTER TWO YEARS AND FOUR TRIPS TO THE DEALER, TO ADDRESS THE THROTTLE PROBLEM WHICH WAS TERRIFYING. LOSING CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE ON A 8 LANE HWY IN HEAVY 75 MPH TRAFFIC IS HEART STOPPING.THIS CAR HAS SERIOUSLY FLAWED ENGINEERING. CHRYSLER IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS LATEST PROBLEM. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE.

DRIVING ON HWY 183 IN CEDAR PARK, TX, A TRUCKER DID NOT HAVE HIS TARP TIED DOWN TIGHT ENOUGH, ALLOWING A LARGE AMOUNT OF ROCKS AND DEBRIS TO FLY OUT OF HIS TRUCK BED. WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF RT. 50 E IN ANNAPOLIS MD, I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. THE CAR BECAME CONSUMED WITH A STRONG BURNING ODOR. AS TRAFFIC BEGAN TO MOVE, I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY. SINCE THE CAR HAD BEGUN TO ROLL FORWARD, I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS. TRAFFIC BEGAN TO GET BACK TO SPEED BUT I WAS BROKEN DOWN IN THE MIDDLE LANE, BLOCKING TRAFFIC. I CALLED THE STATE POLICE FOR ASSISTANCE, AND THE CAR WAS EVENTUALLY SAFELY TOWED TO THE DEALER, JOHNSON FIAT OF ANNAPOLIS. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR 4 WORKING DAYS AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, THAT THEY DROVE IT FOR 60 MILES AND THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE REPAIR INVOICE NOTES " NO WARNING LIGHTS ON AS OF NOW, COULD NOT DUPLICATE COMPLAINT FROM CUSTOMER. TOOK CAR FOR MULTIPLE TEST DRIVES, NO SIGN OF BRAKE FAILURE, NOT RUNNING POORLY, CAR JUST HAS A HORRIBLE BURNING SMELL".
