My car has gone to the dealer repeatedly for the following issues: bad struts, loose engine mounts, overheating (broken fan), "drive mode not available", radio not working, and now messages saying lights are out when they are not (code says "pending code") this car drives terrible and is unsafe and unreliable- it spends more time at the dealer than in my driveway - it has 40k miles and is still under warranty

I purchased my 2018 Fiat 500X POP used in April 2023 with only 22k miles. This past weekend 12/16 when I would first start my car up and get ready to leave in the mornings after having been parked for the night, my car would start up normal and I could proceed down the street. The minute I apply the break my car would lose power, stall out or shut off completely. I would press the start button, release the break, shift the gear to drive and proceed forward. I would go about 20 mph as I was driving in a residential area then my car would stall out and shut off again leaving stuck in the roadway. I repeated the start process to pull over to a safe location. I called the dealer and they said there are no recalls for this issue, however, I located one, but my VIN is not coming back as one of the affected vehicles. This is extremely dangerous as I live in an area with freeways as the only way to get to certain areas and cannot have this vehicle shutdown on freeways because it could result in a bad accident. I am looking for any assistance I can receive from this complaint. Fiat is not helpful, and the closest dealer is 2hrs from my residence.

We just bought this car from CARMAX and looks like this campaign recall fix was not listed on the site so they didn't address it and now the car wont work or run. If the recall was listed by the VIN they would have been required to fix before selling.

I purchased my vehicle in 2020. I was not aware there was an open recall on this vehicle for an oil consumption issue. The dealer did not tell me and I received no notice from Fiat/Chrysler over the next two years. I began having a problem with the engine cutting out as I was driving down the road without any warning. There were no low oil or engine lights coming on to let me know there was a problem. My car was literally stopping on the road as I was driving! The potential for disaster was high! Fortunately we were able to get the car to the dealer without incident. We actually found out about the recall through our own investigation. The car was 3.5 quarts low and has since had two oil consumption tests that were supposed to "fix" the problem. It is now July 2023 and am still dealing with the car burning oil at a rate of about 1.5 quarts every 1500 miles. I have a 2018 Fiat 500X with less than 40,000 miles on the engine. Currently my dealership and I are trying to get Fiat/Chrysler to replace my engine . They have agreed that under the extended warranty afforded to me through the class action lawsuit filed against them over this that I am eligible for this to repair damage done. Unfortunately we are having issues getting authorization for an engine to be ordered..a lot of bureaucracy! The whole process has been infuriating..and I do think that my safety as a driver has been compromised. Thank you.

2021 Car failed RECALL OIL CONSUMPTION test twice at local dealership. Sept 2021 dealership said replaced a part. Oct 2021, when leaving a gas station car would not start, dashboard was flashing symbols and died, would not start, after 1/2 hr car bucked to house 6 blocks away. Yes car is available for inspection. Feb 2022 car died twice in middle of busy street with a 18wheeler almost ramming me in back, oil symbol briefly flashed then car died, couldn't even pull over to side, very frightening experience for at 73 yrs old. After 1/2 hr or so was able to return home, next day drove to dealership they said no oil in car, tapped it off, but I had just got an oil change and driven only 1798 miles. Problem has been confirmed and test done 3 times to qualify for motor replacement. OIL Warning Lamp does not stay on, only a brief flash. 3 Fail tests but has not been included in RECALL OIL CONSUMPTION.

I contact Chrysler Corp regarding the NHTSA recall notice and provided corporate with the recall notice number and was told that the recall was not applicable to my Fiat 500x. However corporate asked where the vehicle was being serviced. When The service was completed the statement from the dealership indicated that the NHTSA recall had been completed. Additionally I purchased the vehicle new in April 2018 and did not receive the Aug 2018 recall notice. While i was merging into the turning lane my car slowed itself down and then just stopped at the time my car was still able to run but i was not able to shift the gear and put it into neutral at the time the police officer showed up to help us move the car onto the side we had to push the car because we were still unable to move the gear shift then the tow driver arrived and after lots of difficulty was barely able to shift the gear but at that time was able to put the gear in neutral and even while in neutral my car would not move once we got to the dealership and let the dealership put oil into the car because we were told that could be the possible issue though we this was on Thursday and on Friday we received a call from the dealership explaining to us that it was not an oil issue but a mechanical one skip to Saturday we go to the dealership to meet with the tow so we can get the car to a fiat dealership but once on we were unable to turn the car off as everything was not functional on the car including the lock and unlock system i was not able to press down on the break it was lock and every warning within the fiat guide book flashed and i was unable to turn the car off this was the same result for others who had tried as well My engine locked in the merge lane

After 10,000 miles these issues started to occur. We were quoted the engine experienced these issues due to the engine burning oil. The car sputters, it is sluggish, while driving it loses power and is slow to pick up or doesn't pick up at all. We slowed down dramatically while doing 60 on the highway.. This could have caused us to have an accident. Very dangerous.

I received a customer satisfaction notification from FCA US LLC stating they were recommending some improvements on my 2017 Fiat 500X equipped with a 2.4L engine. They had determined that some vehicles may have been consuming more oil than usual. We had noticed our car running low on oil between oil changes so we took it to our local Fiat dealer with the letter and they stated it wasn't coming up in their system so they couldn't run the test for us. We contacted Fiat directly and they stated the same thing. We did receive a letter so I don't understand what the issue is. My daughter drives the car and now I feel it's a safety issue for her. I wrote a letter to the FCA and have not yet received a response. I need help with this issue and running out of resources to help.

Tl* the contact owned a 2016 fiat 500x. While the vehicle was parked, it caught on fire and exploded. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. The contact also stated that the fire caused structural damage to the home. The night before the fire, the vehicle was driven and the contact noticed an abnormal burning odor. The contact inspected the vehicle and saw no signs of a fire. The vehicle was destroyed and towed by the insurance company to a repair facility for inspection. THE Transmission Valve Body Solenoid was diagnosed as not working. while i was driving on the highway without any indication the car just started slowing down . There was not a warning or anything, then the transmission service lights up, i had to have my car towed to a dealership however they informed me that there was never any service they were supposed to do on my transmission because of the type of vehicle i have. this part is expensive and not easily obtainable. car is still showing transmission issue.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The component that failed is the RFHM module in the rear driver side wheel well of the car. Due to water leaking into the car, the RFHM module is taking on water damage causing several electrical systems to fail including power steering, airbags, and starter. Both current RFHM and previously damaged RFHM module are available I believe. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - As the car takes on water, the module fills internally with water as well. When this happens, several components of the car begin to go haywire including security, power steering, airbags, and other electronic readers. When this happens going down the road, my car has and can potentially shut itself off which is very dangerous going down a highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I first diagnosed what was going on through with my car through other online forums of people experiencing the same problems. I took my vehicle to my mechanic where he ordered a new RFHM Module and had a mobile locksmith acquire a new key. The locksmith was able to program one old key and one new key with the new module and the car was good to go again. Now, six months later, the same issue is happening with the same piece of equipment. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - I have not pursued this yet but will be in touch with the manufacturer tomorrow. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - There is no way to know when the car will work or when it won't after it rains or after a car wash. The symptoms come on suddenly and take time to dry out to be useable again.

February 2023 the Fiat breaks and transmission locked up and all of the lights on the dashboard started flashing in the middle of the road. filed claim with geico. turned out to be a leak somewhere in the body frame of the car which leaked water into the RF module of the car causing water damage inside the RF module causing the car transmission to lock up emergency brake lockup and all lights flashing and horn beeping uncontrollably. Geico paid Fiat dealership to replace RF module but not the leak. again in September 2023 this happened in the middle of busy [XXX]. the car completely locked up and screeched to a halt on the interstate nearly causing a crash. The car was taken back to the same dealership. they determined the RF module had water damage again caused by a leak. Geico refused to pay anything for repairs this time. after speaking with Fiat customer service representative, Fiat agreed to pay for diagnosis of leak, location and repair of leak and replacement of RF module. [XXX] the dealership said they found the leak. The leak was located somewhere on the back portion of the car. there was a crack on both sides of the back portion of the car. [XXX] the dealership cannot find the leak. The dealership wants to give the car back. we are terrified to drive the car because it could lock up at any moment again for a third time. after research, we discovered this leak into the RF module has happened many times in the Fiats around the world including UK. this car was purchased brand new by my [XXX] who cannot afford to buy another car and is terrified to drive this car. after posting the malfunction on YouTube, we discovered other people are having the same issue with Fiat. it sounds like a manufacturer defect somewhere in the welding or weather stripping. we have no idea. the dealership took photos of crack, leak. location, attached INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We had several instances were the car bucks when transmission shifts. Was taken to dealer and updates were made and had no issues until again it has started again. Not all the time but every once in a while. At sunset now but unable to duplicate problem. This is not the first issue we have had. First it was the fuel tank

Service transmission light appears followed by "drive mode unavailable." when this happens, the vehicle is basically in "neutral." this happened several times while driving, including city streets and on a 65 mph highway. The only recourse is to immediately pull over (while drifting) and turn the car off and on several times until the display clears. Fiat service updated vehicle control modules to no avail. Tcm was replaced to no avail.

I was driving vehicle and it all of a sudden get stuck in gear in either park gear or some other gear that wont allow me to turn engine off. The RPM became elevated; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. While driving approximately 15 - 20 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. While in LIMP Mode, the contact coasted to the side of the road and waited for several minutes before continuing to drive. The failure had occurred twice. Additionally, the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle had been taken to a certified mechanic, who determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be rebuilt. The dealer also diagnosed that there was a failure with the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster lights were cleared; however, the transmission was not repaired. The check engine warning light remained illuminated. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (Power Train), for the transmission for the same year, make, and model. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

Car suddenly slowed down while driving on Christmas Day. This was a very unsafe situation because I was on the highway in traffic traveling at 70 miles per hour and the car suddenly slowed down which could have resulted in an accident leading to harm. A warning light then came on to service transmission right as the car slowed down. I Tried to step on the gas pedal and it would not accelerate. There was no warning light prior to this incident. The car was towed to the dealership the next day. On the following Monday we were told the transmission needs to be completely replaced after they completed a diagnosis test. The contact owns a 2016 Fiat 500X. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the rear taillights failed to function as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the motherboard had failed, and the connecting wires had melted. The contact was informed that the motherboard and connecting wires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,308.

Since the car was purchased, the electrical system seems to have an issue that no dealership has been able to diagnose or fix. The forward collision warning system will intermittently turn itself off upon starting or even while driving. The car also frequently blows passenger side lights. More recently at about 67,000 miles, the check engine and transmission warning lights came on while highway driving 2.5 hrs away from home. The car has been in and out of the shop at least 3 times over the past month and a half to try and fix the issue but they have been unable to determine what is wrong with it. They said they found metal in the transmission and therefore replaced the torque converter and valve body. However, the issue persists. A burning smell can now be detected when driving. Car is going into the shop for a 3rd time to try and fix it - leaving owner without a vehicle for another undetermined amount of time and many miles away from home (this time >500 miles away from home). The car supposedly passed all previous recalls - cooling fan, oil consumption, etc. All regular service/maintenance intervals have been kept by the owner.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer heritage fiat located at 11212 reisterstown rd, suite b, owings mills, md 21117 who diagnosed that the internal switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The switch was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 31,000.

Like everyone else on here my car has multiple issues. Car shifts hard from first to second gear. Fuel car propulsion seems off, drivers side door handle broke, day time running lights don't work, touch screen on display quit working, car doesn't alert me of low oil level, it has shut off but i'm pretty sure it's a safety feature when your oil is to low so you dont blow your car up, car uses waaayyy to much oil, gas mileage isn't that great, brakes were replaced ever since a lot of times my car will screech when i go to apply the brakes, oh and battery is bad literally just replaced it had corrosion and acid leaking out. I really wanted to love this car but it's been kind of a disappointment. I am the second owner, i bought it in 2018 with about 45k miles and it just hit 100k a car four years old should not have this many problems it's really unacceptable. Its just my every day driver i maintenance it regularly and the miles are mostly highway miles. All of this just within 2 years and 50k miles pretty unbelievable. I am taking it to a fiat dealership this week to see if they can fix some of these issues

I own a 2016 fiat 500x, unsure of the model because i was told i was purchasing a trekking but paperwork states lounge 2. The vin number has brought up the different two models depending on what vin search you use. One issue with the vehicle, are the exterior lights. At the current time, it has a blinker, rear taillight and a brake light out. And when one light goes out, usually 2-3 other lights follow. This will be the 3rd time it's going in for repairs for that electrical issue. It is also consuming too much oil. Yesterday after i finally got it started, several lights appeared on the dashboard, park brake failure light, transmission malfunction indicator light and the esc light. When i put it in drive mode, a light warning me the drive mode was unavailable. The vehicle idles rough. Once i stopped at a stop sign and the vehicle jumped into neutral. The backup camera has stayed on before while driving down the road. Also 2 door handles have had to be replaced and the drivers side knob that has already been replaced once, seems to be sticking like the one before it that completely broke off.

When driving the car its seems as if its not changing gears pushing the gas to accelerate its will let off a rushing sound with no movements then it will jerk and accelerate faster it mainly does this when taking off and turning onto another road where their is busy traffic that will eventually cause a accident with oncoming vehicles if the acceleration isn't at its speed. *tr

The left rear brake light keeps going out even after repair by the dealership

I have reported my issues of my car completely shutting off while driving down the street weather it be 25mph or on the interstate at 70mph. I have had this issue looked at by dealerships and it continues to happen. My last incident lmao this caused me to flip my can and hit another vehicle while traveling 65 mph. My car turns off completely, so then i have to put it in park one i'm able to come to a complete stop and restart. Sometimes this cause all my light to flicker on and off. My engine feels like it's going to vibrate out of the front of my car. This is a huge safety issue i've been reporting to my dealer and the mechanics for almost 2yrs now. I have contacted chrysler ( fiat service ) to get help to figure this issue out properly. I was told i may have to be in a wreck for anything to be done. Really, sad a tech would say something like that. My first time my car stalled i was at a 4 way turning to go home. This happens literally every month. I have children i have to drive around with my car stalling on my and completely loosing power to everything.

Has happened multiple times where the push button ignition does not start the vehicle- instead the message drive mode unavailable pops up. This message has also appeared even when the car has started. Also, lost all connection on dashboard- no functionality whatsoever- took it to the dealership and was advised no code was thrown- but if electrical a code would not be thrown. Was advised to wait until it happens again and then call to bring in. This happened when i had drove the car for about 8 miles turned off and came back after going shopping for about an hour. No indication of an issue before or after. I previously had an issue with my entire radio/center console electrical system which required a replacement as this dealership stated no updates available.

The contact pulled over and re-shifted into drive and continued driving. After arriving to her destination, she attempted to park and the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a guardrail. The contact mentioned that the accelerator pedal was not applied at the time of the failure. The air bags did not deploy and the front bumper detached. There were no injuries and no police report was filed. A local dealer (dealer information was unknown) was emailed to request a tow. The vehicle remained at the scene of the accident. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,700. The vin was not available.

On multiple occasions, my 2022 Fiat, while cruising at 55 mph, crests a hill and begins down when the engine increases from 2000 rpm to 4200 rpm and speed increases 9-10 mph almost immediately. A driver is caught unaware and must brake back to the normal speed limit. No other vehicle I’ve driven has done this and no current vehicle I own does this. Unless braking occurs, a driver could easily hit a vehicle in front, if any. Stellantis/Chrysler says this is normal although no other Chrysler vehicle I own does it. The dealer can not find a fault although something they did on the first service visit made it worse. I have two videos of separate instances.

After 10,000 miles these issues started to occur. We were quoted the engine experienced these issues due to the engine burning oil. The car sputters, it is sluggish, while driving it loses power and is slow to pick up or doesn't pick up at all. We slowed down dramatically while doing 60 on the highway.. This could have caused us to have an accident. Very dangerous.

The sensor on right passenger air bag malfunction and air bag light stay on and no crashes happen upon message. Poor fuel consumption components include loss of power and idling and when accelerating. Driver mode unavailable lamp came on

April 2023 - While driving at ~ 35mph multiple warning light on the dashboard came on, (including traction control, AWD needs service, drive mode unavailable, emergency brake and several others) the speedometer stopped working (both the digital and analog) and a sluggish sensation was immediate (like the brakes were applied rapidly.) The car was stopped and further investigation showed that the rear brake lights were on, seemingly indicating that the brakes were engaged while the car was in park, with no one in the vehicle. The car would not shut off. The car was taken to the dealership where over 30 codes were reported. 2 sensors were replaced (one brake sensor and the traction sensor) and the dealership reported that multiple updates were performed in the 2 weeks that they had the car. Five weeks after getting the car back from the dealership the SAME condition occurred on the highway at 55mph, in a construction zone with no ability to pull off. After reaching an area where it was safe to pull off, a restart of the car (by disconnecting the battery) had all of the lights going off and the brakes functioning normally. The car was driven straight to the dealership where the issues happened again. The car now has 43 codes. They replaced the HCU/ABS module, which did not fix the issue. The car has been in the service department for 3 weeks without discovering the cause of the lights, lack of speedometer and deceleration.

For 2-3 days prior to incident, upon shifting up a gear and disengaging clutch, RPMs were higher than expected (noticeable revving sound when hitting gas pedal). Wednesday 12/08/21, the vehicle was not maintaining speed on the highway and engine was revving like it was in too low a gear. Vehicle stopped accelerating and lost speed while driving on highway forcing me to pull over and forcing a tractor trailer to swerve around me. Vehicle was disabled at that time. No warning lights were displayed on dashboard. Frederick Auto Repair in Frederick, MD says clutch needs to be replaced despite the vehicle only having ~53,300 miles. Initially thought it would be part of Safety Recall S34/16V-302 but this appears to be for a different model and my vehicle's VIN is not included.

The vehicle shifts into neutral while driving. This usually happens while i'm 3rd gear and you start to accelerate, then the car shifts into neutral. This situation has accrued while pulling out into traffic and while driving down a highway. *tr

My fiat keeps giving transmission errors. I took the car to concord, ca fiat for diagnostics 10/2019 and they were unable to report an issue. They 'reset the computer' and sent us off. Now in 02/2020 i'm still getting error messages and the car locked up in the middle of the road refusing to turn off, shift gears, or move at all. For 15 minutes.

I am having issues again with my fiat stalling on me while driving down the road. This has been happening for a year 1/2 now and no solution via the dealership service department. I was almost rear ended on the interstate due to my car shutting off. This is time i was on the interstate going 70mph. I have had my car towed to the service dealership in the past for this same issue. They had it for a month and same thing keeps happening. This is unsafe and terrifying for me to drive with my two kids in the back.

I have had at least 5 incidents so far with my fiat turning completely off while driving down the road. I have taken it in numerous of times to the dealer with no luck. I have documented each and every time my car decides to shut off while driving. I find my car to be a safety hazard to me and my family as well as others. The dealerships seem to not know why my fiat tends to shut down while driving. First i had only about 25000 miles and it shuts off while turning in a 4 way intersection, fiat place had me take it in just to say it needed an update. Second time i stalled in my neighborhood with my children inside. Called the dealer, said it needed an update. 3rd time happened while driving it to the dealership the same day. Dealer had it for two weeks and said it was a new update that caused my fiat to turn off completely. 4th time happened while i driving down the road at 45mph and dealer had me bring it in and said it was caused by my key fob battery ( literally just changed the batteries the day before). All bs from the dealers mechanics. So i called fiat customer service and they told me i should not be driving the vehicle at all, i should return the car to the dealer to have them run test. They had it for a month and said it was caused by my driving habits and they could not do anything about it. So now my fiat decides to shut off while driving 70mph 49000 miles on the interstate, thankfully i was in the slow lane and was able to coast to a safe position to put my car in park and restart. This has been happening since the 3rd month of ownership june 2017.

I have had several warning lights that have come on several different times while in motion and while parked since i purchased my vehicle a few months ago. Service abs, dynamic steering torque, service electronic parking brake, service hill hold control. The first time these lights came on i took it back to the dealership. They said the lights didn't come on during the week they had it. Since then the lights have come on several days while driving on the city streets and highways.

When driving the car its seems as if its not changing gears pushing the gas to accelerate its will let off a rushing sound with no movements then it will jerk and accelerate faster it mainly does this when taking off and turning onto another road where their is busy traffic that will eventually cause a accident with oncoming vehicles if the acceleration isn't at its speed. *tr

I was driving on the highway and my car shut off without warning. The steering wheel locked up, the shifter locked, the brake locked. There was no safe way to bring the vehicle off the highway. I coasted off the highway into the grass. There was a sierra 1500 that was behind me that was fortunate enough to avoid hitting me. The fiat dashboard had no warning lights on, such as check engine, oil low, or any other indication that something was wrong. The dealership's response was it needed an oil change. There was no addressing the fact that my car was burning through oil at an accelerated rate and that the car itself turning off and locking up while in operation is "not a defect" or "a safety hazard". I spoke with the fiat dealership that i purchased the vehicle from and they informed me that there is nothing they can do as the factory warranty has expired. The factory warranty expired 1/1/2020. 127 days later, my car has this incredibly dangerous defect. Fca claims that no buy back option available due to the warranty expiration. They offer to have service attempt to fix the car but the issue is with the engine, not just changing the oil. There is no other engine that can be placed in this car to completely fix my vehicle. If another tigershark engine is placed in my car, there is no way to determine if it is defective until the car shuts off again unexpectedly while driving which can result in a fatal accident or injury. Fca's resolution is to continuously bandaid the situation. They are not offering to buy back the vehicle due to the manufacturer defect. I also have an efg warranty though the dealership i purchased the car from that is useless in remedying this situation also. The dealership points the finger at fca to fix this while fca points the finger at the dealership to remedy this situation. My car with the tiger shark engine is not safe to drive. *tr

The other day my check engine light came on and said that my coolant level was low. I went a grabbed coolant and filled it up to the max line. For two days in a row now, i have been having lights randomly pop up on my dash. Such as drive mode unavailable, service engine, 4wd unavailable. It has also randomly stalled while driving with my son in the car. The dealership said there is nothing wrong with the car. Which there obviously is. I searched and numerous people have had the same issues with their 2016 fiat 500x, and the dealerships all say the same thing. Incidents have allhapened while the car was in motion. On neighborhood roads to interstate. At speed mileage of anywhere from 15-70mph.

I purchased a 2016 fiat 500x in december 2016. I am a home care nurse so i drive a lot. I have had this same issue since buying this car and it's been in and out of the shop. It is now out of warranty and i am having to pay out of pocket. Here is the story: when it rains heavily, in arizona, my electronics in my car go haywire. According to autonation, i have had the car in approximately 9 times. My power steering becomes disabled and my airbags become disabled. This time, i was driving down 7th street at 7:30am and this happened. I was luckily able to get the car to stop. No one seems to care what is eventually going to happen to me, is that i get killed. This car is a lemon. I need help before i die.

Happened again -- this is the third time this has happened since i purchased the car in nov 2016. Engine shuts off while driving. Fiat dealer apparently clueless about the issue and how to repair. Took car to same dealer all three times this happened - each time they've given me a ridiculous reason the car is literally shutting off while i am driving down the street!! First time they said it was because the computer needed updating?!?! Second time (posted on nhtsa when 2nd time happened) they said it was a loose cable connection to the battery - never once explained why car was giving the alert "drive mode unavailable), and now this third time they said they couldn't get car to replicate the problem. Makes zero sense - car engine shutting off while driving and in motion 3+ times a day!!! Fiat dealer kept car for 8 days - at one point told me it needed almost $2000 of work and that the reason engine was shutting off while driving was low oil pressure?!?! After i questioned them extensively about the charges and the supposed low oil pressure - they changed their story and said oil pressure was just slightly below normal and apologized about the $2000 charges - said i didn't owe anything?? Again, they could not give me a reason why car was shutting off and supposedly they couldn't get it to replicate the issue. So i picked up the car and it hasn't died on me once - so they must have done something to it. Why the cover up!?! Why does my car completely shut off while driving?!?! Everything goes out when it does -- becomes difficult to steer and brake. Seriously scary!!!

Car has approx 26k miles. Driving under normal conditions this morning and warning came on "service engine. Drive mode unavailable". I had the sun roof open as i was driving and i kept thinking i was smelling a hot or burning smell, but couldn't be sure. I popped the hood when i got home and didn't smell anything obvious. Don't know if this is related, but just had it in for oil change a week ago - they never reset the oil change light (which wasn't coming on before oil change - though low oil pressure light was coming on -- now low oil pressure light is off, but oil change light is on!). Again, don't know if it is related but want to give all pieces of the puzzle. Also my engine shuts off for no apparent reason while driving occasionally. Very scary! Took it in to fiat and they gave me a lame excuse -- it just needed some updates! To me that is just unacceptable -- what if i had been going 70mph on the interstate and this happened!? I asked them that exact question at fiat and they just shrugged their shoulders. This is a serious safety issue and it is shocking to me that fiat is not taking it more seriously! After the "update" that they performed about 8 months ago -- all seemed fine until about a month ago. Car stalled as i was driving -- seemed to happen only when i was going over a speed bump or a rough road. That was not the case the first time -- first time i was on a smooth, flat road. I really feel like a safety recall should be done on these cars because after reading about so many other people having these exact same problems -- this is clearly an issue!

Driver side door handle broken. Started sticking and being hard to pull/open and when open would stick in the out position and not latch shut unless pushed back in. Soon after it broke, suspected handle hinge malfunction, cannot be opened from the outside. Multiple other complaints about door handles on 500’s. Requires using passenger door to enter vehicle or leaving driver side window down to open from interior handle. Huge safety concern.

February 2023 the Fiat breaks and transmission locked up and all of the lights on the dashboard started flashing in the middle of the road. filed claim with geico. turned out to be a leak somewhere in the body frame of the car which leaked water into the RF module of the car causing water damage inside the RF module causing the car transmission to lock up emergency brake lockup and all lights flashing and horn beeping uncontrollably. Geico paid Fiat dealership to replace RF module but not the leak. again in September 2023 this happened in the middle of busy [XXX]. the car completely locked up and screeched to a halt on the interstate nearly causing a crash. The car was taken back to the same dealership. they determined the RF module had water damage again caused by a leak. Geico refused to pay anything for repairs this time. after speaking with Fiat customer service representative, Fiat agreed to pay for diagnosis of leak, location and repair of leak and replacement of RF module. [XXX] the dealership said they found the leak. The leak was located somewhere on the back portion of the car. there was a crack on both sides of the back portion of the car. [XXX] the dealership cannot find the leak. The dealership wants to give the car back. we are terrified to drive the car because it could lock up at any moment again for a third time. after research, we discovered this leak into the RF module has happened many times in the Fiats around the world including UK. this car was purchased brand new by my [XXX] who cannot afford to buy another car and is terrified to drive this car. after posting the malfunction on YouTube, we discovered other people are having the same issue with Fiat. it sounds like a manufacturer defect somewhere in the welding or weather stripping. we have no idea. the dealership took photos of crack, leak. location, attached INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On january 9th, 2018 i leased a new 2017 fiat 500x from fiat auto gallery van nuys at 5711 van nuys blvd, van nuys, ca 91401. Two weeks later while washing my car for the first time, i noticed some cloudy spots on the car's exterior paint (3 spots) and what appeared to be a burn spot on the left passenger door. I immediately took the car to the dealership for inspection. The dealer informed me that it was a manufacturing issue that needed to be handled by fiat. They took pictures and were supposed to contact the appropriate department at fiat to handle my case. After several weeks of no activity, i called customer service at fiat directly and had them open a case for me. The case agent coordinated with the dealership to send the pictures to the appropriate department at fiat, an inspector came out to inspect my vehicle and it was determined that in fact, my car's paint had a manufacturer's defect. This was determined back in april and fiat has failed to resolve my case. I have called several times and have been lied to repeatedly that someone would be in touch with me to either replace my vehicle or have me turn in the vehicle for a full refund. It has been 10 months since i alerted fiat of the issue and they refuse to resolve my case.

The contact owns a 2016 Fiat 500X. The contact stated that the cover over the button needed to open the driver’s side door would frequently fall off. Over time, the driver’s side door handle had fractured upon an attempt to open the door. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Every since i purchased my 2016 fiat 500x easy awd in 2017, i've had issues with my hatch latching mechanism. I'll be driving along and it will open on it's own, which is disconcerting esp when i have stowed something and this happens on a fwy, major safety concern for those driving behind me! Dealer could find nothing wrong, though numerous complaints continue to be logged about it. Then earlier this year, i went to open the hatch and the rubber push-button fell out. I was able to get it back in there but that only took a passenger slamming the hatch shut for all of the parts to fall out in to the street. Now it will not open from the outside nor the inside. Called dealer who refused to give me a ball-park price but did say when i do bring it in, i'll be charged a $165 diagnostic fee whether i have it worked on or not and that fee doesn't even go towards the actual repair/replacement/labor costs. Seriously? I have to pay them $165 just to diagnose what we both already know what it needs, but would take them all of 5 min to confirm & then takes 5 days for the part to come which i'll be kept in the dark for that cost until he hands me the bill? Since when do service techs get paid the full hour for 5 min of looking - not doing anything and then not even apply it towards the actual doing?! Is this legal?! They should name the fee more appropriately then, the just because we can fee. I've better titles for this price gouging, but will refrain so that this complaint might drive a recall for this faulty hatch latch mechanisim.

I own a 2016 fiat 500x, unsure of the model because i was told i was purchasing a trekking but paperwork states lounge 2. The vin number has brought up the different two models depending on what vin search you use. One issue with the vehicle, are the exterior lights. At the current time, it has a blinker, rear taillight and a brake light out. And when one light goes out, usually 2-3 other lights follow. This will be the 3rd time it's going in for repairs for that electrical issue. It is also consuming too much oil. Yesterday after i finally got it started, several lights appeared on the dashboard, park brake failure light, transmission malfunction indicator light and the esc light. When i put it in drive mode, a light warning me the drive mode was unavailable. The vehicle idles rough. Once i stopped at a stop sign and the vehicle jumped into neutral. The backup camera has stayed on before while driving down the road. Also 2 door handles have had to be replaced and the drivers side knob that has already been replaced once, seems to be sticking like the one before it that completely broke off.

The trunk latch broke and i couldn't get in the car. The mechanism pieces came off.

The automatic feature that unlocks and locks the drive door stopped working. There is no damage to the door.

The vehicle driver's door handle breaks easily. I went to open the door while it was parked.

Car continuously throttled while driving on highway and road with no warnings. Vehicle electric components like radio and parking camera would shut off and not come back on without warning or while using camera. Car now gives warnings of vehicle temperature too high

Full speed forward collision warning plus does not function properly. Warning and breaks never activate even if 1 foot from car in front.*dt

The car stopped working suddenly in the miami turnpike, drive mode not available went on, also abs, parking and engine lights went on. It was scary because stopped working without previous notice. We almost have an accident. It happens the same in 2015, same model in tampa highway.

The car states the electric parking break needs service. Brake is locked. Car cannot move. Also states transmission requires service. Vehicle received service two weeks ago. I've had issues ever since dealer conducted the cooling fan recall last month.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pads were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train), although the failures were identical. The failure mileage was 700.
