How to read a Fiat 500 VIN — every digit explained
Every Fiat 500 carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. 4T1 = Toyota, built in the USA.
- VDS (4–8) — model line, body style, engine & restraint system.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built. H = 2017.
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this 500.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your 500 VIN
- Dashboard — driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside.
- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.
- Paperwork — vehicle registration, title and insurance card.
- Engine bay & frame — stamped on the firewall or chassis on many models.

Car has moved out of "park" 4 times and the last time rolled down my drive way and hit another car. I want to have this vehicle returned and get another car. We took this vehicle into the dealer about 4 months ago for electronic gauge and system problems. They said there was nothing wrong with it. I don't believe them anymore.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 fiat 500. While driving 60 mph, the contact detected an abnormal burning odor and smoke coming from under the hood. The vehicle stalled without warning and was towed to classic chrysler dodge jeep (111 i-20 east frontage rd, arlington, tx 76018, 682-226-6400). The dealer diagnosed that the clutch bearing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and opened case number: 32948895. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not under a warranty or recall. The failure mileage was 84,191.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
First incident was two weeks after i purchased the fiat 500l. The brakes jammed and i ended rear ending another vehicle. The second incident was six weeks ago after replacing the front brakes. I purchased new rotors and pads;that evening the brakes jammed and caused me to rear end another vehicle twice. My fiat 500l has experienced losing communication from the computer to the transmission, which caused my vehicle to stall on various streets and while in moving traffic. On friday 13, 2015; my fiat 500l made a noise so loud that it sounded like it was going to blow up. I immediately checked the engine and it sounded like a large heavy piece of metal was trying to break through the engine wall. I turned the vehicle off and waited for 20 min. I started the vehicle and the noise went away. As i pulled off the vehicle started making a real loud noise and shut off. The vehicle has been towed to the dealer; however fiat is only concerned that they do not have to pay for it because the car is out of warranty. My issue is not the mileage; however my safety. I am not easily scared; however i felt like my fiat 500l was going to blow up. There is something seriously wrong with this car, fca needs to buy back every last one.

In may 2014 my 2014 fiat 500l was brought to ziegler dealership for a safety recall concerning the automatic transaxle gear shift module and they flashed the esm (recall on nhtsa website). In january 2015 we noticed a burning smell under the engine. If we put car into reverse and gas pedal pushed, car hesitated 1-2 seconds before the car would start moving. Car lurched forward several times on road at a dead stop. Rough shifting on roads. Check transmission and engine warning light illuminated in early feb 2015 and we brought it back to ziegler. They determined it needed a new transmission control module. Only 4 modules in the entire us, and all were spoken for (4 other fiats in for the exact same problem). Ziegler contacted the manufacturer to get an "upgraded" transmission module, not the one originally designed for the car. After being told it would be 1 1/2 months to get the unit, it showed up mid february. I confirmed that we got this "upgraded" unit and dealer said yes. Took possession of my car on 2/13/15. This past week, we again had a burning smell in the engine, encountered car lurching while car was in drive and foot securely on the brake. Slow engine reaction when hitting gas when putting car into reverse, rough shifting. Was planning on calling dealer on monday 3/2, however on saturday 2/28/15 the car was involved in a driver side t-bone crash as the car would not move when gas pedal was pushed. Car totalled by insurance company. My daughter could have been killed because the car did not move when gas pedal was pressed. Fiat is now fireselling these 2014 models and are not offering this "dual clutch" transmission in 2015 models. They know about these transmission issues but their "fix" is still putting lives in jeopardy. If you own this car, get rid of it asap! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 fiat 500. The contact stated that his check engine light had illuminated while driving at 65 mph. He also stated that white smoke had began emitting from the engine. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to his residence. Upon inspection, the contact stated that there was no oil in the vehicle despite a recent oil change. The contact also stated that the transfer plate clutch pedal had failed multiple times despite the vehicle being placed under nhtsa campaign number: 16v302000 (power train). The vehicle had not been taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 47,263.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 fiat 500. While at a stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact noticed smoke coming from the tires. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the transmission ball bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.
While parked at a mcdonalds drive-thru window in detroit mi in my 2014 fiat 500l at approximately 11:30 a.m. The car began to smoke profusely. The smoke filled the interior cabin and under the hood area. The car smelled horrid like burning electrical copper wires. The car then shut off, but continued smoking. I ran out of the car and a police officer who was eating lunch inside ran out to help me. The officer and mcdonalds employees pushed the car away from the drive-thru window. No flames were seen, only smoke. The car was taken to golling fiat in bloomfield hills mi. The dealership returned the car to me days later as is, stating that they could not find nor replicate the problem or any problem with the car. The serviceman [xxx] did state two times that he smelled smoke and burning wires under the hood, but told me that "maybe the burning smell is just a fluke". No repairs were made. I'm very concerned because this car also has a history of leaking gasoline. Now it is smoking and the dealership says nothing is wrong with it. I was previously charged $2100 to replace the leaking gas tank after they told me the tank would not be covered under my new car warranty! I have reported both the leaking gasoline complaint and smoke complaint to the nhtsa. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
In the morning (6AM) of September 19, my car car caught on fire while parked in my driveway. There were flames 3-4 feet height coming from the engine hood area. Once the fire was extinguished by the local fire department, I found the car was extensively damaged in the front outside and inside driver cabin. Upon further inspection I found the fire might have started with or around the battery, as it was completely melted. Further inspection on the back side of the car showed some stripped wiring in the assembly connecting to the rear hatch mechanism, lights, and other. In the days previous to this incident the battery had loss its charge completely twice in the span of a week and a half.
Stopped at bank to withdraw some cash and the alternator started on fire! Had the car towed to mechanic to repair .
Was driving on the freeway and the car lost power. All lights on indicator dash went off. No steering ability and little/no control of vehicle. Failure resulted in a crash. No airbags deployed even though there was side impact to both sides and front end impact. The car was totaled.
This occurred about 6 times already. When making a left or right turn the vehicle shuts off and coasts until you stop to shut it off and turn back on. The battery and oil pressure lights come on during the coasting. Came very close to being hit twice due to this problem, but the dealer say they haven't heard anything like this before. *tr
I own a 2012 fiat pop that i purchased new about a year ago. One thing that did not go away and was ever present at any time was the limp mode for the engine over the last few days. Recycling did not work to correct problem and gauges were out. The indicator light on panel showed in limp mode when it worked. Gauges kept going on and off sometimes for short periods and other times for longer periods. On 6/10/13 my vehicle caught fire in the dashboard. I was traveling back from the store in limp mode hoping it would go out but never did.i parked the car in front of my development pool and went to visit my employee there. Within about 5 minutes or so she said that my lights were flashing. I checked and went to the vehicle. It was engulfed with smoke and a nasty electrical smell. Fire department came. I was told that i had to wait for the fire inspector to come and examine my vehicle. He came. Began tearing my dashboard apart to find the cause or source of the fire. It was determined by his knowledge and experience that the body control unit had failed and caused the fire. Vehicle is totaled. The vehicle has only about 4000 miles on it. Earlier that day before the incident i had called the local fiat dealer. Explained the problem of the gauges not working, and limp mode, i asked if it was safe to drive and he said yes. At this point i made an appointment to have the vehicle looked at hopefully that day. Only opening was next day at 2pm. I have filed an insurance claim and the vehicle has been towed away. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 fiat 500. While stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle jerked violently. A message appeared on the dashboard instructing the contact to place the transmission shifter in the neutral position and then into the drive position. The contact followed the instructions and the engine failed without warning. The contact attempted to restart the engine multiple times before succeeding. The check engine warning light then illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was reluctant to accelerate and drive slowly. The contact also noticed a burning odor. The contact discovered that the odor was coming from under the hood. The vehicle was towed to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000. The consumer stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer on multiple occasions for the jolting. The dealer advised the computer was learning the driver's habits and was operating as designed. After the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and was repaired under warranty. The manufacturer offered a 60,000 mile warranty, no deductible, free of cost and $500.00 for compensation. The consumer was dissatisfied with the offer. Upon retrieving the vehicle the dealer advised the consumer to put the vehicle in neutral while at a stop, because one of the clutches slightly drags and would eventually burn up, which is what caused the failure. The consumer believed that was unacceptable.*js

Using a large and relatively heavy key ring and inadvertently hitting it while adjusting the radio caused the engine to shut down while driving on a city street on three occasions. Removing the key ring and using the key without a ring solved the problem. After removing the key ring there were no more incidents.

On multiple occasions my wife's care has refused to srmtart with now answer from the dealership why, the brakes have been replaced by fiat under warranty and they still squeak when in reverse, and lately it says there is a tire sensor that is damaged or low along with drive mode unavailable, this keeps us from using the awd system effectively, and fiat said they fixed the issue once before and it came back within the week. The car has had electrical problems from the day she bought it along with multiple occasions with not starting and multiple computer problems with now help from the dealerships, this car is still covered under all warranties and still causes problems with my wife going to work. On two occasions the drive mode unavailable error came up while driving, this doesn't allow the car to operate the awd system like it should
The car stopped working in the middle of the highway, started to give error messages and turned on engine service, transmission and parking brakes lights. A few seconds after we just got the message: drive mode unavailable and the car stopped. It was really dangerous and my family and i were in a terrible risk of have a pretty bad accident. We are really lucky that nothing happened to us, we could die that night.

I was on a side street turning l onto a busy street. There was a long large white van blocking my view from turning. I was at a stop sign. As i started to move out i did look both ways first. There was a red auto over a block to my left & right an auto was way behind tracks. We have a long set of tracks due to busy street on a slant. As i turn, another car on my left hit my car so hard that the seat belt did not hold and i was moved all the way to the right of car & this intensified impact on my left side head to left driver window. My car was totaled. Loc momentarily, disoriented, taken to ed via ambulance, 2 inch laceration to scalp. This initiated many symptoms of illness that ed never knew about. Ct showed irregularities to left brain, i was unable to write legible, my texts were not understandable, my sister stated she hated to call because i wasn't making sense & i fell continuously for no reason. I caused numerous broken ribs due to falls & once had to be hospitalized due to rib separating from sternum. My psychiatrist put me on additional medication due to depression. Had pt to increase muscle tone in legs . Just had a radical mastectomy 5 mo previously and i knew i wasn't right. The police report indicated other car was going 25mph which can't be correct. The speed limit was 30mph & everyone who lives in area know our trains are so long that you want to cross them before a train comes. My car was nearly on train tracks. I know by turning left, i was at fault but the van that blocked my view was illegally parked in a bus stop. I attempted to file a law suit against chrysler/fiat because no air bags deployed because seat belt did not hold me in place. No lawyer wanted to go against a car company. My 2013 fiat abarth was rear ended. I was stopped. The other driver, in a grand cherokee, rear ended me. His speed was approximately 20-30 mph. I was knocked unconscious briefly & had severe head pain. I am still undergoing treatment. None of my cars safety features worked, including the fuel pump shut off. I believe the seat hit me in the head. The abarth has unique, high backed seats with a fixed / integrated head rest with a hard, plastic insert. My seatbelts failed to tighten and the fuel pump failed to shut off. I worked for chrysler fiat at the time and did tell people in engineering about the concern. I suffered a concussion & now have constant, daily headaches and migraines.

Car stopped and quickly slowed down without warning. I had very little time to steer car to the side of the road. The rbs/abs system started slowing the car on its own. I had only been going 30 mph, however had i been in a center lane on a freeway at 60 mph, i would have not been able to get it off the road.
After bringing vehicle to a complete stop at a traffic light, it died and gave a propulsion system warning. After about 20 attempts to turn off and reboot the vehicle, it restarted and behaved as if nothing had happened. This was a very dangerous situation with the vehicle stuck in the middle of the road. There have been two recalls on this very specific issue (and this vehicle has had that related software updates). Vehicle did the exact same behavior for no reason. (NHTSA campaign: 16V303000 & 15V179000). And because the vehicle wasn't sold in Georgia, no local dealers know how to work on it.
I was driving our Fiat 500e (31K miles) in late June, when suddenly the HV Battery System (and primarily the PIM/Power Inverter Module that controls the HV battery system and propulsion system) failed, causing my moving vehicle to lose it's ability to use power steering. I was on a steep hill and was barely able to control the car. I contacted my local Fiat dealer, had the car towed there, and it has sat there for 3.5 months, while the dealership and Fiat USA have argued over how to repair it. In the meantime, the 8 year warranty on the HV battery system has winnowed down and will go out of warranty this month. It is my belief that Fiat USA has purposely delayed a resolution so they could not have to pay to repair the car under warranty. The PIM controls the HV system and propulsion and yet Fiat claims that the PIM is not their responsibility to repair. This is an otherwise perfect car with only 31K miles and the idea that it would be junked and sent to landfill over a bad PIM controller (a small component the size of a football) is a tragedy. Via online messaging boards, I have spoken to numerous other owners of Fiat 500e autos who have suffered a similar PIM failure and whom Fiat also refused to help. Fiat should stand behind the cars they sold to us and should pay to repair the PIM controller so the car runs. Barring that, they should pay the market value of the car. I have specific engine error codes and reports that I would be happy to provide. Thank you in advance for your help.
I am a retired master certified automotive technician. Ever since I bought this 2015 Fiat 500e [it is battery electric] in 2017 with NO warning all kinds of trouble/service lights will go on as the car shuts down & stops as if it was thrown into Park, & most of the time it does this it is at highway speeds on crowded L.A. freeways, which has become very close to getting me killed several times I have taken it to local dealers for this problem since shortly after I bought it in 2017, long before the bumper to bumper warranty expired. Most of the time the dealer reads/clears the codes, then parks it in a back lot for days, weeks, & months, then after a while tells me it's done & I can pick it up, but normally within 100 miles the exact same thing happens so I have to take it back to the dealer. Most recently it did not even make it off the dealers lot before it did it. The latest dealer I have been taking it to for this problems, [5 times in a few months] clearly doesn't know the car or what they are doing & is now brazenly lying on repair orders. They have also been claiming it had no problems or trouble codes when I brought it in, after the service writer read & printed out dozens of codes, which they promised to give me a copy of but then refused to give to me. Because this is the exact same problem covered by previous recalls on this car I believe dealers have charged for services & doing recalls that they did not do, because I marked the parts & see NO indication they changed the parts required or did the procedures required to perform the services claimed. This car has had the exact same dangerous problems covered by the recalls since I bought it & I must now pay dealers to service it even though the propulsion system is under warranty. At this point I believe this is brazen dangerous widespread fraud with the factories participation
the problem is: I can not charging, light indicator is red plug , charger indicate (charging) I can not shift gear to D or R , just accept shift to P and N message warning : 1-service electric vehicle system , (yellow car) indicator lamp 2-service charging system (red plug) 3-service propulsion system
The recall was stopped at 74 000 miles and now i need to buy a new care i have an oil leak on the drivers side of\engine by the cam seal, actuator
the electric vehicle was previously recalled for battery malfunction but now the OBCM module malfunctioned making the vehicle unable to charge(receive power) leaving me stranded in the charging station and unable to go home. I had my radio replaced at the dealership because the screen was having some distortion issues and also it was creating a lot of heat,so it was replaced and now it's starting to short out and they cant seem to figure out why its doing it! The volume goes up and down once in awhile by itself and they can't seem to figure that out either! Also my wife has been experiencing a lack of power when she's driving and the vehicle will not go past 50mph,and then it starts to shake pretty bad! She has to pull over and shut the car off wait 2 minutes and than turn it back on and than it's fine! And lastly when i sit at a traffic light i start to smell something burning coming from the engine and i pull over to inspect the engine and nothing.. I called the dealership and the lady told me it's the transmission burning because i have the auto manual shifter model and that's why it does it and it is normal! I really don't think it's normal at all? The lady at the service counter told me that this model really took off in italy but not here in the states! So i guess i bought a lemon i told her and all she said was she was sorry!! I have so much trouble at this dealership because i have to prove something is always wrong with my car!!!

As reported by numerous consumers the power steering just stop working while driving with no warnings. This caused a wreck involving my son & I and we're admitted to hospital. Apparently this is a widely reported problem yet it has not attention. It's extremely dangerous and cost more to fix than what the car is worth.
At 47,500 miles and 4 years, 9 months of ownership, my passenger side lower front ball joint broke. There were no signs of problems leading up to the breakage. We have ran into two issues with the car. The first issue was last year there was an issue with the computer inside not working which in turn cause issues with the bluetooth, lighting, and dashboard. The mechanic said it could in turn result in other issues as well. We recently started the car and it started shaking, the dashboard went out, the check engine light came on, and then the power steering went out.
A few days after normandin chrysler did a recall clutch repair, the passenger side control arm came loose at the wheel causing vehicle to be uncontrollable and right tire to jam into wheel well. I had just turned left onto a road from a driveway. I heard a grinding sound and pulled the car over. Cv fluids on road. Axel disconnected at both ends.
The car dash goes crazy turning all lights. Over heating and esc right afters it turns off while the car is on the go less then 50 milers per hour. I have almost crash twice due to the car stops completely on the freeway. Dealership has check the car 4 times and they can not get it to be fix yet in the last past 2 month. 11/30/17 fiat says is checking what they can do still i have not receive an answer and chrysler has my car for almost 3 weeks and still not diagnose again.
This is my second attempt to get help as i haven't heard anything from here either this is been happening since 03/21/2017 and i haven't heard anything. My clutch keeps skipping to nutral when i'm on the freeway driving 65mph , i need this to be resolved, i been having this issu for the past year and half.
Message flashing "service power steering, hill climb and ESC" appears on an average of once a month for the last few years. No loss of control yet, but it came on three starts in a row for the first time. Usually goes away with a second start. Making an appointment with a dealer (Putnam) in Burlingame, Ca to diagnose. $250 to scan and who knows how much to repair.

The vehicle was approaching a stoplight at approximately 15 mph and suddenly accelerated while the brake was depressed, causing a minor accident (little damage to bumpers of both vehicles). Car was returned home (1 mile away) without incident. Upon moving the vehicle in the driveway later that same afternoon, the vehicle suddenly accelerated again when depressing the brake; had to engage the parking brake to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. *bf *tr
Brakes did not engage the first time in order to stop the car for parking space. It happened again the following day where i tried to hold the brake pedal to the floor and nothing!!! I retried again a second time and too late car was hit twice in the front destroying whole front end. Car was purchased brand new. I have contacted fiat hq to further investigate this deadly safety issue.
While traveling on a PA interstate, I hit the brakes to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of me and the wheels locked up. The anti-lock system appeared to not work on my Fiat 500c. I hard steered L and avoided a head on collision hitting the trailer in front of me on the passenger side front of the car.
I am a real estate agent. Last year 2019 i went to an open house and parked in the driveway which was on an incline - with a plateau for parking. I've been driving a standard transmission for 30 years. When i park i place my gear in 1st with the parking brake fully engaged. I parked the car, went into the home to view the home, and was inside 15 minutes. When i went back to my car, it was gone. The car had rolled backward down the hill and into a guardrail. There were neighbors all around my car, and one man said, "it makes no sense it the parking break is engaged." the neighbors had video of the crash. The car was parked approx 10 minutes before rolling down the hill. My car was damaged by the guard rail, and thankfully no humans were hurt. Had the guardrail not been there -- the car would have gone over a ravine and into a home.
Car has 12xxx miles on it - 80% of which being freeway miles. Brought into the dealer today for a complaint of the car diving to the right when the brakes are applied aggressively at those speeds. Discs, pads, and calipers all found to be in perfect condition. Internet forums are crawling with the same complaint. Dealer test drove an identical model with only 83 miles on it and experienced the exact same issue. This is a performance car with a potentially dangerous safety defect in one of its most important systems. Dealer reported all they can do at the moment is send the information up the chain to their regional director.
Just before coming to a stop the brakes grab and jerk the car. The brakes work normally otherwise.
The PCM system does not work at all and brakes seem off—either they stop too hard or drag when pressing in them
Fiat 500e vehicle braking behavior is unexpectedly hard, sudden, or unpredictable until the user uses an obd scan tool with appropriate diagnostic software- and initiates brake controller sensor re-calibration. This option is found under the diagnostic menu under: abs>renenerative brake controller>active diagnostics, and then selecting the procedure to start (rbc sensor calibration). Online forum users (please see link below) are currently using 3rd party software, at their own expense, to correct the braking deficiency (approximately $49). My personal vehicle was purchased used and was exhibiting sudden and unexpected braking issues at approximately 8,500 miles; this is in my opinion a very low number of miles to be experiencing regenerate braking and control issues. There was a sudden and complete lose of steering control. Car pulled hard to the right causing a collision with a parked car. Vehicle was moving at very low rate of speed under 10 mph. There was no way to stop the vehicle before the collision happened. In addition upon impact the seatbelt did not lock causing the driver to be tossed to the windshield. Driver was wearing seat belt. My vehicle was t-boned on my driverside door. The vehicle that hit me was going 50mph according to the police report. I was crossing the street at about 10-15mph. Not a single airbag engaged, side curtain, seat, etc. It was on a city street and the car that hit me was speeding.
Expressway driving at 55mph when traffic came to an abrupt halt. Hard breaking transpired, attempt at evasion, resulting in a front impact into the rear of another vehicle, and then a rebound impact into a retainment wall on the drivers side. None of the 7 airbags deployed...updated 05/07/15 *bf updated 9/16/2015 *js *tr
A vehicle in the right lane made a u-turn, crossing the left lane causing the fiat to t-bone the vehicle making the u-turn. The seat belt did not restrain the fiat driver and the driver contacted the steering wheel with enough force to cause a significant compression injury to the sternum. The driver was transported by ems to a hospital. The vehicle could not be driven and suffered nearly $13,000 damage. Earlier in the drive, the fiat 500 driver had to rock forward at an on-ramp to release the seat belt in order to view approaching traffic via the left outside mirror. Apparently, the seat belt does not or did not reengage after this movement leaving it free and the driver unrestrained. Air bags did not deploy. *tr
Front driver and passenger doors are hard to open and close. Twice, the doors sprung back when opening, hitting me once and my daughter on another occasion, both times near the eye area. My daughter received a small bump above her right eye. The upper corners of the doors seem to be swept back at a sharper angle than most cars. This is a loaner because of the takata recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 1986 grumman longlife (na). While exiting the vehicle, the contact closed the door and his middle finger was caught between the sliding door and the door frame. As a result, 1/3 of the contact's finger was amputated. Medical attention was required. The manufacturer was out of business and could not be notified. The vin was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 133,000. Ma 08/11/15 updated 10/19/2017*cn
Driving in 3rd gear slid and hit the guard rail and when vehicle stopped couldn't get vehicle out of 3rd gear. Had to use both hands to get vehicle into 1st gear. After vehicle was in 1st gear the vehicle started to smoke and the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. Found a recall bulletin #16v302000 on fca us llc website which describes a recall for s34: "if the clutch diaphragm spring fails, the driver may not be able to shift gears or the vehicle may lose power, increasing the risk of a crash." that's exactly what happen to the vehicle. Fiat chrysler will not stand behind recall s34 on this vehicle. Vehicle was in motion driving in 3rd gear and couldn't get vehicle to go into 4th gear stuck and crashed on a county road.
