PURCHASED THIS PRE-OWNED WITH ONLY 40K MILES. IT'S NOW ONLY AT 45K MILES AND RANDOMLY THE ABS LIGHT AND SERVICE BRAKES NOTIFICATION CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. TOOK IT TO A GARAGE AND HAD THEM SCAN AND IT SEEMS TO BE ABS RELATED. STILL HAVE NO REPAIRED BUT FROM READING ALL OVER FORUMS, REDDIT, GOOGLE SEARCHES, AND MORE THIS SEEMS TO BE AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM THAT COSTS A TON TO REPAIR. FORD SHOULD HANDLE THIS AS A RECALL IF IT IS A REGULAR ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. HOW IS THERE NO CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT YET? IT SEEMS COUNTLESS PEOPLE ARE MENTIONING THAT THE BRAKES OUTRIGHT FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD OR EVEN HIGHWAYS. WHAT IF SOMEONE DIES? THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

HELLO, I HAVE A 2007 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION INSIDE AND OUT EXCEPT FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAS BEEN SYSTEMATICALLY HARD TO PRESS THE PEDAL SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT DUE TO BEING A HYBRID, HOWEVER, THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS FAILING AS OF 2 DAYS AGO. CONSISTENT WITH MANY, MANY OTHER FORD ESCAPE HYBRIDS, THE BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS, ABS WARNING LIGHTS AND BRAKE SYSTEM SERVICE WARNING WILL SPORADICALLY ENGAGE ON THE VEHICLE. EVEN WITHOUT THE WARNING LIGHTS, THIS VEHICLES BRAKES WILL NOW FAIL, OFTEN DROPPING COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. AS THE BRAKES ARE A VITAL COMPONENT OF THE VEHICLE THE FAILURE HAS COME DURING CRITICAL TIMES, VIA STOP SIGNS, STOP LIGHTS, STOPPED TRAFFIC, NEARLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES OR FATALITIES. WHEN THE WARNING LIGHTS ENGAGE, THE BRAKING PEDAL IS HARD, BUT DOES FAIL AS WELL. AN IMMEDIATE SERVICE PERFORMED AT THE LOCAL GARAGE DETERMINED THE CAR MALFUNCTIONING BRAKE SYSTEM IS DUE TO THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND HYDRAULIC BRAKE PUMP, CONNECTED TO THE HYBRID SYSTEM WHICH IS HIGHLY CONSISTENT WITH ALL EARLY MODEL FORD ESCAPES. REPAIR ESTIMATES EXCEED $5000-7000 USD. THE BRAKING PROBLEM WITH THE EARLY GENERATION FORD ESCAPE PROBLEMS IS ENDEMIC, AND DESERVING OF ADDITIONAL SCRUTINY AND ATTENTION FROM THE NTHSA. THESE CARS ARE DEADLY AS SET, AND THANKFULLY MY FAMILY HAS NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH. PLEASE GIVE THESE VEHICLES ADDITIONAL SCRUTINY, AS IT IS NOT OBSCURE TO SEE WIDESPREAD BRAKING MALFUNCTIONS NATIONWIDE. FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM.

MY WIFE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AT 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT STOPPING WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. SHE THOUGHT THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK. SHE MANAGED TO RETURN HOME. I INSPECTED THE CAR AND FOUND THE FRONT RIGHT BRAKE HOSE RUPTURED, THE BRAKE RESERVOIR DRAINED TO THE SEPARATING PARTITION. THE FAILED HOSE HAD RUPTURED AT THE STRUT ATTACH BRACKET, OBVIOUSLY A FLEX POINT. THERE WERE OTHER FAILURE POINTS IN THE HOSE RUBBER COATING VISIBLE. I REPLACED THE HOSE AND INSPECTED THE FRONT LEFT HOSE. SAME FAILURE PATTERN, VERY EARLY LEAKAGE NOTED AT THE BODY HARDLINE CONNECTION AND THE STRUT ATTACH BRACKET. I REPLACED THAT HOSE AS WELL. REAR HOSES APPEARED COMPLETELY INTACT AND NO ISSUES NOTED. 71,600 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS COMMON ISSUE ACROSS THE FORD ESCAPE LINE WHICH IS ALSO SOLD AS THE MAZDA TRIBUTE. NHTSA NOTES ONLY ONE INCIDENT, I FOUND 38 ON ONE SITE ALONE, HTTPS://WWW.CARPROBLEMZOO.COM/FORD/ESCAPE/BRAKE-HOSES-LINES-PIPING-AND-FITTINGS-PROBLEMS.PHP A FAILURE OF ONE SYSTEM PUTS ALL THE PRESSURE ON THE REMAINING SYSTEM. AS SEEN IN OUR CASE THE REMAINING SYSTEM WAS SEVERELY COMPROMISED. I FIND IT DEEPLY DISTURBING THAT NHTSA HAS NOTHING IN THE RECALL ARENA ON THIS YET HAS 2 MINOR RECALLS, ONE BEING FOR AFTER MARKET AIRBAG -SEAT COVER INTERFERENCE ISSUES. REALLY? PERHAPS IF THE BRAKES WORK THE AIRBAG WOULDN'T BE DEPLOYED? I HAVE SEVERAL MORE PICTURES IF NEEDED.

BRAKE WARMING LIGHT AND MESSAGE. BRAKES WORK BUT ONLY PARTLY - OKAY FOR GENERAL DRIVING BUT NOT FOR EMERGENCY STOPS. DIAGNOSED BY FORD DEALER FOR OVER $5000 IN REPAIR. QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN FORD ESCAPE HYBRID VEHICLES, BUT FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR THE OBVIOUSLY FAULTY UNITS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ALL UNITS, OR AT LEAST FREE REPAIR FOR FAILED UNITS. THE REPLACEMENT IS MORE THAN THE VEHICLE IS WORTH. THERE ARE ONLY 143,000 MILES ON THE CAR, AND OTHERWISE IT WORKS FINE.*DT*JB*DT*JB

POWER TRAIN

The torque converter was failing in my 07 escape. When I switched gears from park to drive or reverse the car would shake and sometimes stall out. Or if I had to stop at a stop sign or traffic signal while in drive the same issues would happen. The old torque converter is not available for inspection unfortunately because I gave it back to autozone to get the core charge money back. But when we installed the new torque converter it completely solved the issues and the transmission is running great again. It put myself and my passengers at risk since my car would completely turn off at traffic lights sometimes. This problem has been reproduced by others and I actually found out the torque converter was the issue by finding a technical service bulletin (TSB 07-5-6) so I know other shops have discovered this issue. There were no warning lights or anything and no parts were inspected by others. I completed the whole replacement.

This Escape is an AWD Hybrid. When driving in slippery snow, sand, ice, etc., the front wheels spin, but there is no power transmitted to the rear wheels, causing serious control and traction problems. An "all-wheel-drive-locked" signal appears on the info display, followed instantly by "AWD disabled". After a while (a couple minutes), the system then comes back and says "Automatic AWD restored". Which is simply not true—AWD never engages, but a driver going into a snowstorm or other difficult situation has no way of knowing this until it's too late. Problem was diagnosed by a good mechanic as a faulty transfer case—a very common problem in 2002—2011 AWD Ford Escapes. There is a serious design problem—the transfer case is too close to the exhaust, which cooks the internal lubricant, causes it to leak out completely, and kills the bearings inside the case. There are many cases on forums of this problem causing locked wheels at speed, sudden lack of drive on highways, etc. Not to mention the problem (as in my case) of drivers entering dangerous driving situations where they are counting on AWD for safe driving, but having just front wheel drive, with absolutely no warning from the car. I have no idea why this has not resulted in a. recall so far, but it is an serious, obvious (and worsening) safety issue. Parts and labor cost will be over $1000. WHILE DRIVING ESCAPE AT APPROX 70MPH THE OVERDRIVE SENSOR SES LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE. STOPPED AND BORROWED A SCAN TOOL FROM A LOCAL GARAGE WE KNOW. CODES P0741 AND P1744 FOR TCC WERE FOUND. DROVE HOME APPROX 40 MILES. ESCAPE WAS SHIFTING POORLY AFTER EXITING EXPRESSWAY. LIMPED VEHICLE HOME. NEXT DAY 11/14/2020 ATTEMPTED TO TAKE ESCAPE TO MECHANIC. ESCAPE HAD TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES. ODOMETER READS APPROX 110,500 MILES ESCAPE WAS TOWED TO ACCURATE TRANSMISSION IN BELLEVUE, MI FOR POSSIBLE REPAIR. DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A TOTAL REBUILD OF THE TRANSMISSION FOR $2900. HEARD THAT SOME FORD ESCAPES WERE RECALLED FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND WONDERED ABOUT 2007 FORD ESCAPE ISSUES.

I WAS DRIVING ON A MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY JUST SOUTH OF GRANBY COLORADO WHEN ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND ENGINE STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. TRIED TO RESTART ENGINE TO NO AVAIL. THEN STEAM STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD, THERE WERE YELLOW SPOTS ALL OVER AND THE COOLANT CONTAINER HAD STARTED TO MELT AND DEFORM FROM THE HEAT. I CALLED MY AAA ROAD SERVICE AND WAS TOWED INTO GRANBY TO MOUNTAIN VALLEY AUTO AND TRUCK REPAIR. HE TOOK PICTURES OF THE READINGS FROM THE COMPUTER AND HAS THOSE. HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN AN ENGINE GET SO HOT BEFORE AND NO WARNING. MY SON HAS A MECHANIC FRIEND WHO CALLED SOMEONE AT FORD AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE AWARE THAT THE FORD ESCAPE HAD AN ISSUE WITH OVERHEATING JUST AS MY VEHICLE DID WITH NO WARNING WHILE IN MOUNTAIN DRIVING. I KNEW I NEEDED TO HAVE MY BRAKES AND ROTORS DONE SO I TOOK THEM IN TO GET FIXED AT MEINEKE. AFTER THEY WERE FINISHED THEY TOOK IT FOR THE NORMAL TEST DRIVE TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS WORKING CORRECTLY. THEY NOTICED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES CAME ON BUT THE LIGHT WASN'T COMING ON. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO FORD BECAUSE THEY CANT HANDLE ABS. I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY FRONT LEFT TONE RING WAS CRACKED. I PAID ALMOST $350 FOR A $10 PIECE TO BE PUT ON. I DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS AND IT STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT BACK BECAUSE I CANT AFFORD TO PAY $100 JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT TO TELL ME ITS THE SAME THING AGAIN. 2007 FORD ESCAPE THROTTLE STICKS INTERMITTENTLY. DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE PETAL WILL STICK AND NOT RESPOND. PUSH DOWN ON GAS PETAL AND WILL NOT MOVE OR RESPOND. FLUTTER THE PETAL AND IN WILL RETURN TO OPERATIONAL FORM.PETAL STICKS AND NOT ALLOW YOU TO GIVE ENGINE AND GAS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PETAL THEN TRY TO REAPPLY THE GAS TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I BOUGHT IT BUT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT AS THE VEHICLE AGES. MY DAUGHTER WAS ALMOST KILLED WHEN WE TRIED TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND THE THROTTLE STUCK. SHE IS LEARNING TO DRIVE AND DID NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THE CAR NOT STARTING WHEN SHE PRESSED THE GAS AND THEN IT SUDDENLY LURCHED INTO TRAFFIC. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL FOR THE 2001-2004 ESCAPES. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT IS 500+ TO FIX. ON 7/10/18, WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT TO ENTER A HIGHWAY, CAR STALLED/LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. TWO MONTHS EARLIER IN MAY 2018, THE CAR ISSUED A "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING WHILE MOVING AT 65MPH. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN TIME BEFORE LOSING POWER. BOTH INSTANCES RESULTED IN RESTARTING THE CAR WITH NO ISSUES AFTER A PERIOD OF REST. MECHANIC ON BOTH OCCASIONS COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE WITH BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. WATER PUMP (RECALL) WAS ALREADY REPAIRED SEVERAL YEARS AGO IN 2012 AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH STALLING UNTIL 2018.

Vehicle lost power unexpectedly in traffic several times. Once stopped it started after a pause and ran fine for a considerable time until if failed again. When researching online noticed that this year and model had a recall but that is not reflected when I ran the VIN of my 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. My concern is the diagnosis at the dealer will not detect this and could result in needless expense which I am not prepared for. The NHTSA has this issue documented and I feel should qualify me to have the coolant pump replaced on a recall before a serious accident.

BAD REAR DOOR SWITCH. I BOUGHT MY SUV USED ON JULY 14, 2014. THE DOME LIGHT KEPT GOING OFF OR STAYING ON. THE DOORS WOULD OR WOULDN'T LOCK. THE HORN WOULD GO OFF RANDOMLY. THE DEALER FIXED IT AT NO COST TO ME, BUT I SAW THE BILL WAS ABOUT $600. SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE HORN STARTED GOING OFF AGAIN. MY FRIEND HAS A 2006 FORD ESCAPE. SHE HAS BEEN HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. SHE SAID THE HORN WAS THE WEATHER INDUCED. I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN THE SEASONS CHANGE THAT MY HORN GOES OFF MORE OFTEN. I'VE LOOKED AT THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH I BELIEVE 05'S-08'S ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. THEY USUALLY JUST OVERRIDE THE WIRING IN THE REAR DOOR SWITCH. I DON'T WANT TO GET IT FIXED WITH A BRAND-NEW DEFECTIVE REAR DOOR SWITCH.

WHILE TRAVELING ON I80 (ABOUT 30 MILES TO SUGAR BOWL SKI RESORT), THE GAS ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUTDOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ABOUT 60 MPH. WAS DRIVING IN TOWN WITH PASSENGERS PROPERLY BUCKLED IN SEAT BELTS IN OUR 2007 FORD ESCAPE WITH 67,000 MILES. SUDDEN STOP AND THE PASSENGER IN THE REAR PASSENGERS SEAT HAD THE SEAT BELT PULL LOOSE FROM THE CONNECTOR. INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE SEAT BELT STITCHING ON THAT PARTICULAR SEAT BELT HAD APPARENTLY NEVER BEEN PROPERLY STITCHED AND THERE WERE ONLY A FEW THREADS HOLDING THE SEAT BELT TOGETHER. CLOSE INSPECTION OF THE OTHER SEAT BELTS IN THE CAR SHOWED THE REST HAD A WHITE INSPECTION TAG WHILE THIS SEAT BELT DID NOT HAVE ONE AT THE "SUPPOSED" SEWED JOINT. LOOKS LIKE THE SEWING MACHINE NEEDLE DRILLED THE HOLES BUT DID NOT PUT THREADS THROUGH THE TWO PIECES. WE ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNERS BUT CLOSE INSPECTION APPEARS TO BE AN ORIGINAL DEFECT AND THE SEAT BELT WAS APPARENTLY NEVER PROPERLY SEWN TO THE CLIP. AS WE TRIED TO GET HER OUT OF THE BELT (SHE IS 5'3", SO I COULD NOT SIMPLY LIFT HER UP), WHICH WAS AROUND HER WAIST IN A FULL TWIST, SHE PULLED THE BELT TO FULL EXTENSION, ACCIDENTALLY STARTING THE RATCHET FUNCTION. 5. THE BELT BEGAN TO RATCHET TIGHTER AND TIGHTER, AND BECAME SO CONSTRICTED THAT SHE HAD TO FACE OVER THE BACK SEAT. 6. I HELD THE BELT TO STOP THE RATCHETING, WHILE A FRIEND RAN IN TO GET A PAIR OF SCISSORS. THE BELT WAS INCREDIBLY TIGHT ON HER - WE COULD NOT EVEN MOVE IT UP OR DOWN ON HER WAIST AND SHE WAS CRYING BECAUSE IT WAS CUTTING IN TO HER SIDES. 7. UNABLE TO RELEASE THE BELT, I CUT IT OFF MY DAUGHTER. THE CAR IS A FORD ESCAPE, HYBRID, 2007 - BUT THE SEATBELTS ARE SIMILAR IN MOST CAR BRANDS. THE BELT IS UNDER WARRANTY AND WILL BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS COULD BE PREVENTED, AS THE RATCHETING FUNCTION OF THE SEATBELT IS NECESSARY FOR CHILD SEAT RESTRAINTS (CAR SEATS). HOWEVER, IT WAS THE RATCHETING OF THE BELT THAT PUT MY DAUGHTER IN SO MUCH DANGER, AS ONCE THE SEATBELT BEGINS RATCHETING, IT WILL NOT RELEASE UNTIL IT IS FULLY RETRACTED. THANKFULLY, I NOTICED IT WAS RATCHETING BEFORE SHE WAS COMPLETELY CONSTRICTED. I AM ALSO REPORTING THIS TO FORD. IT COULD HAPPEN IN ANY CAR WITH RATCHETING SEATBELTS, REGARDLESS OF THE BRAND. IN SEPTEMBER 2009 I HAD TO HAVE THE ABS TONE RING ON DRIVERS SIDE REPLACED BECAUSE I WAS HAVING ISSUES WHERE BREAKS WOULD "SLIP" WHEN BREAKING- THEY WOULD ENGAGE FOR A BIT THEN SLIP AND RE-ENGAGE. THIS ISSUE DIDN'T PROVE TO BE DANGEROUS FOR ME, BUT COULD HAVE BEEN. THE END OF MAY I BEGAN HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AGAIN AND I KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS SO I TOOK IT INTO DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE ABS RING- PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE SOLVED. UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY AND LOST MY BREAKS COMPLETELY- LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER THEY HAD SERVICED THE BREAKS. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED- FOR $1400. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I BELIEVE I CAN WEAR UNUSUALLY SO THAT IT WOULD GO BAD LIKE THIS, AND SO SUDDENLY. IT WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION IT PUT ME INTO WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY CAR WITHOUT THE USE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE LAST MONTH I NEEDED TO BRING MY FORD ESCAPE IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THIS TIME IT WAS BECAUSE MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND MY 4WD DRIVE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. BOUGHT A 2007 FORD EDGE IN MAY 2007 WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES CROSS CONTACT LX 24560R18 IN A OPTION PACKAGE WITH A 17 INCH SPARE. VERY SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE HAD CAR AT DEALER FOR VIBRATION. DEALER BALANCED ALL 4 TIRES. WENT BACK SECOND TIME FOR TIRE VIBRATION MECHANIC AND DEALER CLAIMED IT WAS NORMAL TIRE OPERATION. AT 40 MPH SLIGHT VIBRATION AS SPEED IS INCREASED 70 MPH IT WAS MORE PREVALENT. IT WAS NOT A SMOOTH RIDING TIRE NEVER FELT THIS WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE WE HAVE PURCHASED. FEEL THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH CONTINENTAL REPUTATION AND ONLY 300 MILES ON VEHICLE AT THAT TIME AND NOW CLOSE TO 1000 MILES NOW. WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE ON A SOMEWHAT BUMPY COUNTRY ROAD THERE WAS SUDDENLY A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR. UPON INSPECTION I OBSERVED THE ENTIRE UPPER SHOCK MOUNT IN THE RIGHT REAR HAD BROKEN FREE FROM THE BODY DUE TO RUST, CAUSING THE SHOCK TO RIDE FREELY INTO THE INTERIOR COMPARTMENT HITTING THE PLASTIC PANEL. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES ON THE FREEWAY, A "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE CAME UP (WITHOUT ANY OTHER WARNING) AND OUR CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND SPEED IMMEDIATELY. I WAS DRIVING ALONG A FAIRLY BUSY HIGHWAY IN PENNSYLVANIA. THE ENGINE ALL OF SUDDEN STOPPED AND THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN BUSY TRAFFIC. WE TOOK OUR 2007 FORD ESCAPE (APROX 60,000 MILES) ON A ROAD TRIP FROM OMAHA NE TO ST. LOUIS MO ON 3/10/13 AND ARRIVED WITH NO ISSUES. ON OUR RETURN TRIP WE DROVE ABOUT 100 MILES UNTIL THE CAR STOPPED ON THE INTERSTATE. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY BUT WERE UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. WE HAD AAA TOW THE VEHICLE ABOUT 30 MILES TO THE CLOSEST TOWN AND AAA APPROVED MECHANIC. WHEN THE MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BURNED THROUGH ALL OF THE OIL AND WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE UP. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING LOW OIL UP UNTIL THIS POINT. I HAD RECENTLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED ABOUT 8 WEEK AND LESS THAN 1000 MILES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT AND THERE WERE NO LEAKS SO IT SEEMS VERY IMPROBABLY THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE USED 4 QTS OF OIL IN THAT TIME. I CONTACTED FORD AND THE VEHICLE IS JUST OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO ASSIST. IN MY RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT THIS MAY BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THIS VEHICLE AT ABOUT 60-70K MILES AND MAY WARRANT ADDITIONAL RESEARCH. MY VEHICLE IS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE XLT. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS WHEN I TRY TO GAS UP THE VEHICLE I CAN ONLY PUT IN A SMALL AMOUNT OF GASOLINE. IT APPEARS THAT THE GAS FILLER PIPE COVER (A LITTLE FLAP THAT IS MOUNTED ON THE INSIDE OF THE FILLER PIPE) IS GONE. BECAUSE IT IS MOUNTED FROM THE INSIDE, THE ONLY PLACE IT COULD HAVE GONE IS INTO THE FILLER PIPE WHICH CAUSES A BLOCKAGE SO THAT GAS BACKS UP AND SPILLS OUT. IT TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO FILL THE GAS TANK WITH A CONSTANT AUTO TURN OFF OF THE FUEL PUMP. ON AND OFF, ON AND OFF WITH THE GAS PUMP. ABS service light comes on intermittently, when light is on a "service brake system" warning comes across the guage cluster. While this service light is on the escape has little to no braking and requires upwards of 300ft to stop when going 45mph. Once the vehicle is brought to a stop you can hear the brake system attempting to pressurize but only making a repeated grinding noise directly in front of the driver in the engine bay. Once vehicle is parked and shut off the brakes continue to make the same grinding noise. After allowing the vehicle to sit over night you may get lucky and have fully functioning brakes or you may unlock the door and hear the grinding noise letting you know the abs warning will be illuminated once the car is started. I have currently rear-ended another vehicle while stopped at a red light because no matter how hard I pressed on the brakes my vehicle continued to roll forward into another vehicle. My vehicle passed inspection with zero obdII codes the day I bought the escape Friday, May 27, 2022. Exactly a week later on June 2, 2022 I experienced severe brake failure and rear ended a 2021 Toyota 4runner. No major damage was caused to either vehicle. Two days later on June 4, 2022 the brake system failed once again causing me to drive my vehicle off the road into the median to avoid an impact at 65mph on interstate I-85. I am a father to my 3 year old daughter, but I am unable to transport my daughter in fear of endangering her life because of a faulty brake system Ford refuses to recall.

A B S BRAKES QUIT WORKING AFTER A HARD STOP IN A PARKING LOT TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE, AFTER THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAD THE ESCAPE FOR4 MONTHS AND IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THE MANUFACTOR WITH A RESULT OF REPLACING THEMASTER CYLINDER, TRAVEL SENSORAND NUMEROUS CONTAINERS OF BRAKE FLUID THEY WERE STILL UNABLE TO GET ANY BRAKES. AT THIS POINT THE MANUFACTOR DECIDED IT NEEDED A A B S MODULE, TOTAL PARTS ONLY WERE TOTALLING OVER $6000.00. IT IS A 2007 YEAR MODEL WITH ONLY 115000 MILES RAN AND LOOK GREAT. AFTER RESERCH ON LINE I SAW I WAS NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I THINK FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE.

The contact's mother owns a 2007 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while his brother was driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted and decelerated to 40-45 MPH. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact's brother depressed the accelerator pedal however, the pedal felt soft and remained on the floorboard. The contact's brother veered to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, he was able to continue to drive; however, the failure reoccurred while exiting the highway. The contact stated that the vehicle would fail to go into gear while attempting to shift into drive and depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle would start but would not move. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

THE GAS PEDAL WOULD STICK INTERMITTENTLY, AND MORE PRESSURE NEEDED TO BE APPLIED TO THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. AT ONE POINT THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY STUCK, AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE THE CAR AT ALL ON THE HIGHWAY, FORCING ME TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN IT OFF TO BE TOWED. A MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTION IN THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD PREVIOUSLY RECALLED THROTTLE BODY'S IN ESCAPES FROM 2009-2012, BUT MY CAR IS 2007 AND DOES NOT APPLY. HOWEVER, BECAUSE IT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME MALFUNCTION, AND HAS SERIOUS SAFETY IMPLICATION, I BELIEVE THE 2007 FORD ESCAPE MODEL SHOULD BE ADDED TO FORDS CURRENT CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03.

IN COLD WEATHER FOR THE FIRST 2 OR 3 STOPS THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT MASH DOWN. IT STUCK UP. IT WOULD BE OK AFTER THAT. NEVER A PROBLEM IN SUMMER. FORD CHECKED IT AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. ON A TRIP FROM CINCINNATI OH TO BLOOMINGTON IN, ROUGHLY 140 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO APPARENT DRIVEABILITY ISSUES. THE RETURN TRIP A FEW HOURS LATER, HOWEVER, ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER SHOWING THE MESSAGE "PULL OVER SAFELY IMMEDIATELY". IT WAS DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT POWER, AND VERY FRIGHTENING. 2002 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ABS RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER TOOK HIS DAUGHTERS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE SERVICE ADVISOR, THE ABS LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF FOR A WHILE. UPON THE RETURN OF THE VEHICLE, THE ABS LIGHT WAS ON CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DESK AND REPORTED THE ISSUE AND HE WAS INFORMED HE COULD LEAVE THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSIS, BUT THERE WOULD BE A FEE OF $ 130.00. THE CONSUMER REFUSED AND THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE PROBLEM THEY WERE ENCOUNTERING WAS AN ABS CODE B1676 WHICH WAS A RESULT OF NO ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE ABS MODULE. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED, BECAUSE THE LIGHT WOULD NO LONGER GO OUT, THAT THE CURRENT SITUATION WAS CAUSED BY PERFORMING THE WORK ON THE RECALL. THEY ALSO EXPLAINED, THAT THE RECALL THAT WAS PERFORMED WAS TO ADD POWER TO THE JUNCTION BLOCK TO SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO THE ABS MODULE IN SUCH A WAY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CATCH FIRE, AND THAT POWER WAS NOT BEING SUPPLIED TO TWO OF THE WIRES AT ALL. THE REPAIR SHOP DISCOVERED THERE WERE TWO INCORRECT SPLICES PERFORMED AT THE DEALER. APPARENTLY, THERE WERE TWO SPLICES THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AND THE MECHANIC ONLY PUT A HEAT-SHRINK TAPE ON THE CONNECTION AND DID NOT ELECTRICALLY CONNECT THE WIRES. AFTER THE REPAIR OF THE TWO SPLICES, THE SHOP FOUND THAT ONE OF THE TWO WIRES SUPPLYING POWER TO THE ABS MODULE STILL ONLY HAD THREE VOLTS AT ONE OF THE CONNECTORS. THE SHOP FOUND ADDITIONAL RECALLS AS WELL. AFTER INSPECTING THE HARNESS PER THE RECALL NOTICE, HE FOUND THE INSULATION ON SOME OF THE WIRES DAMAGED AND ONE OF THE WIRES WAS CORRODED INTERNALLY CAUSING THE LOW VOLTAGE PROBLEM. HE ALSO NOTED THAT THE INSPECTION COVER ON THE CONNECTOR HAD BEEN REMOVED FOR INSPECTION AND THE MASTER CYLINDER CAP LOOKED NEWER AND NOT THE ORIGINAL. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN HE REMOVED THE CONNECTOR FROM THE ABS UNIT, THERE WAS NO GREASE APPLIED IN THE CAVITY LIKE THE RECALL INSTRUCTED.

AT 41,000 MILES, THE SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON AND REQUIRED AN ABS TONE RING TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS NOW LOOKING TO BE QUITE THE COMMON PART TO BREAK AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. THE SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT WOULD COME ON IN FREQUENTLY, BUT WOULD NEVER GENERATE A DIAGNOSTIC CODE. AT ~55000 MILES, THE SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT TURNED ON AND WHEN I DEPRESSED MY BRAKE PEDAL, IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY DOWNSHIFTING AND USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY DRIVING ~25 MPH ON AN EMPTY ROAD, BUT MY YOUNG CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND BACK ON AND TESTED THE BRAKES ON A SHORT FLAT SECTION OF THE ROAD AND THEY WORKED. I PROCEEDED THE 1/4 MILE TO MY HOUSE AND AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT AND 2 STOP SIGNS, THE BRAKES FAILED PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY BEING STOPPED BY MY OTHER CAR!!! THE FORD DEALER HAD THE CAR AND PULLED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE WHICH HAD THEM REPLACE AN ACTUATOR IN THE D-PILLAR. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THIS SOLVED THE ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED AND THE CAR SUDDENLY GAVE THE SIGNAL "STOP CAR SAFELY NOW." WHAT MADE THE SITUATION EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IS THAT IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR A USER OF THE PRODUCT TO INSPECT TO INSPECT THE PRODUCT FOR ANY SIGNS OF DAMAGE PRIOR TO USING THE BASE PLATE TO TOW A VEHICLE. ONCE THE BASE PLATE AS INSTALLED, IT WAS USUALLY HIDDEN BY THE BUMPER AND FRONT FACADE OF THE VEHICLE. ON JULY 25, 2088 WHILE DRIVING, THE BASE PLATE FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE TOW VEHICLE TO SWING VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH ACROSS LANES OF TRAFFIC. THE METAL BRACKET ON THE BAS PLATE ATTACHING IT TO THE TO VEHICLE (FORD ESCAPE) WAS RIPPED FROM THE METAL BEAM PART OF THE BASE PLATE SPANNING THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT THE JOINT BETWEEN THE BRACKET AND BASE PLATE BEAM. IN TOTAL THERE WAS ABOUT $10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO BOTH THE MOTOR HOME AND THE TOW VEHICLE. ANOTHER BASE PLATE WAS SENT TO THE CONSUMER AND INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. ON JULY 25, 2012, WHILE DRIVING AND USING THE ALLEGEDLY REDESIGNED BLUE OX BASE PLATE, THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE TOW VEHICLE HAS BECOME DISCONNECTED AND FOUND THAT ONCE AGAIN THE BASE PLATE FAILED. My 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid (mileage currently 180,000 but the issue started around 150,000 miles) will occasionally (varies from once a week to once every 3 months) not respond properly when I'm accelerating from a stop. When this happens, I can push the accelerator all the way to the floor, but the car will accelerate very slowly for the first 5 seconds or so, and then start accelerating normally again. When this issue first began, it nearly resulted in multiple crashes when I was pulling out into traffic, but now I leave lots of extra space when pulling into traffic in case this happens. I've taken the car to an independent mechanic to try to diagnose the issue and they were unable to observe it since it doesn't happen frequently or predictably enough. There were not any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the issue starting.

While driving, a red triangle to safely stop came up and the vehicle engine shut down. I could not accelerate since the engine was shut down, I could only coast and brake. After the vehicle has been cooling down for 20 min, I’m able to restart the vehicle and drive again until the same issue occurs again. No light on dashboard. Very dangerous issue as it often happens when driving on the freeway for a while. You have no way to accelerate the vehicle and need to slowly pull over on a busy freeway, endangering others and yourself. The issue has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. No, the vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. Please note that this is a known recall for this vehicle but my VIN is NOT included in the recall. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the power steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2007 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 10 MPH, the brakes failed with the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that his wife was able to coast the vehicle off the roadway. The contact arrived at the scene and drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The mechanic discovered that both front brake lines were severely corroded and that the front passenger’s side brake line was leaking brake fluid due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

On 12/10/21 the accelerator stuck. I had to pull off the road, because I was losing power. But what if it got stuck at a high rate of speed? How would I stop, other than the hand brake and pray that it works. It had happened another time that week, but I thought it was a fluke as the car only has 85000 miles on it. I bought it in Sept 2021. It happened again on the 11th. Had my family member look at it and they lubricated the accelerator and a cable in the engine compartment. It has not done it since. Here is the VIN # [XXX]. 12/18/21 Drove to church. No problem with anything. No lights on.... the dash. Family member left to go home for the afternoon and stated that they almost hit a herd of deer, because the brakes went straight to the floor. They drove back for the evening program, with the same problem. I drove home about 35 miles an hour, and the brake pedal goes straight to the floor. No noise of any kind, no warning, no puddles where the car was parked at church or at home. The brake light is on now. What in the world. This could be fatal... both of these issues. FORD just told me there are no recalls, and then sent me to a survey. They need to look into these issues....Poor customer service in my opinion and could be a fatal situation. Last week was unable to get in for an appointment within a 50 mile radius to get that problem looked at. NOT able to be seen till after the new year.... The theft system randomly sounds off for no reason. The theft light keeps blinking as the key is placed in the run position. The vehicle is having issues starting and there's no sound at all when turning the key. When the vehicle does start it stalls, so the gas pedal must be pushed almost to the floor. I must apply strong pressure to the breaks, so that I can stop and not crash. The problem is not changing and other ownsers are having these same issue with this truck. I've already had the battery checked, starter replaced, purchased a new key , and fob.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that an abnormal grinding noise would emit from vehicle upon depression of the brake pedal. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic for repair. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The dealer was contacted, and parts were ordered for the repair. The dealer sent the parts to the independent mechanic who repaired the vehicle. Recently, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS warning light illuminated as the grinding noise returned. The contact also stated that the brake pedal had begun to depress to the floorboard. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle has been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

LATER REALIZED IT WAS A ABS SYSTEM FAILURE NOT SLIDING. ABS LIGHT IS ON. BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS SERVICE LIGHT ON. EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON. APPROXIMATELY 75% OF THE TIME, WHEN FIRST DRIVING VEHICLE, ONLY THE SERVICE BRAKE DISPLAY IS ON. THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO BUCK/STUTTER, STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES. AFTER ACCELERATING, THAT STOPS AND RETURNS TO WHAT I DESCRIBED.ABOVE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM A 2ND HAND DEALER AND AFTER 2 MONTHS I NOTICED A STRANGE NOISE FROM THE REAR RIGHT SIDE. COME TO FIND OUT, THE RUST ON THE UNDER PENDING OF THIS CAR WAS HAZARDOUS. THE WHOLE BODY UNDERNEATH WAS CORRODED. ONE OF THE SHOCKS WAS BARELY HOLDING ON. IF IT HAS COMPLETELY SNAPPED, IT COULD HAVE CAUSE A SEVER ACCIDENT TO ME AND MY 2 YEAR GREAT NIECE, AND INJURED SOMEONE ELSE. FIRST NOTICE OF THIS, I TOOK TO THE DEALER. THEY TOOK PICTURES AND WAS GOING TO FIND A WELDER. A WEEK LATER IS WHEN THE PART CAME LOOSE MORE AND THE WELDER SAID IT WAS UNSAFE AND BEYOND PATCHING UP. A CALL WAS MADE TO THE DEALER TO INFORM THEM THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE AND NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE SHOCK BUT THE UNDER PENDING WAS RUSTED OUT. ANOTHER MECHANIC PRIOR NOTICED THE PARKING BRAKE HAD RUSTED OUT AND CRUMBLED ALONG WITH THE BRAKE DUST PLATE. IT CRUMBLED AND SOME OF THE PIECES ALONG WITH SCREWS WERE CAUGHT IN THE BRAKE DRUMS BEHIND ROTER. I COMPLAINED TO DEALER AND THEY GAVE ME ANOTHER VEHICLE TO TRADE, ONE I REALLY DIDN'T WANT. THEY GAVE ME NO CHOICE. THIS VEHICLE HAD NO AIR, THE WINDOWS DO NOT ROLL DOWN, AND THE WHEEL BEARING WAS BAD. I DIDN'T WANT TO BE WITHOUT A CAR DUE TO MULTIPLE UPCOMING DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS. THEY WERE AWARE OF A RARE CONDITION I HAVE THAT PREVENTS ME FROM BEING IN THE HEAT BUT THEY COULD NOT OFFER ME ANYTHING ELSE. IF SO I WOULD HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS. THE FORD ESCAPE WAS PAID IN CASH ALL UP FRONT. THE GAS PEDAL STICKS OFTEN, AND FEELS AS IF SOMETHING IS UNDER THE PEDAL, STOPPING IT FROM BEING DEPRESSED. GO FOR DIAGNOSIS; AFTERWARD NO BRAKES AND HYBRID ASSIST MESSAGE APPEARS. CAR IS NO LONGER OPERABLE. ALL BRAKE INCIDENTS OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS OR IN DRIVEWAY ON STARTING. DIAGNOSIS: MASTER CYLINDER NEEDS REPLACING AND PROBABLY HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AS WELL. TOTAL COST FOR PARTS BEFORE LABOR $6,000,APPROXIMATELY THE SAME AS THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS AROUND 7.5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 89,000 MILES. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS TO HAVE OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL OF THESE TYPE VEHICLES. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THEY RETRIEVED ERROR CODES P1AOD, P0A3E, B139. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IT REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE HYBRID DRIVE TRAIN MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLING SYSTEM (MECS) WATER PUMP (PART# 5M6Z8C419A) AND (PART# AL8Z19E66F). THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) 08-24-5 THAT SEEMS TO RELATE TO SIMILAR PROBLEMS. MANY OF THE CASES INCLUDE THE ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES OF FORD AND THEIR NEGLECT TO HANDLE ANY OF THE ISSUES. ONE OF THE CASES INCLUDED A TEENAGE GIRL HAVING THE SAME VEHICLE AS MYSELF. HER PARENTS HAD REPORTED THE ISSUES TO FORD AND THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM(S) TO MAKE THIS ONE STORY OF MANY SHORT...THE GIRLS CAR BROKE DOWN WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING HOME AND FROM THE CASE HER PHONE DID NOT HAVE RECEPTION. A MAN WAS DRIVING BY AND SHE HAILED HIM TO PULL OVER AND HE ENDED UP RAPING THE GIRL AND MURDERING HER. THE FAMILY WAS BLAMED AND FORD WAS NOT PROPERLY CHARGED. THERE WERE OTHER CASES I STUDIED THAT INVOLVED FORD THAT INCLUDE MOSTLY THE TRANSMISSIONS LIGHTING ON FIRE AND KILLING THE INDIVIDUALS. THIS IS BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT THAT FORD NEEDS TO BE FACE JUDGMENT UNDER THE SUPREME COURT FOR THIS GROSS NEGLIGENCE. THEY HAVE LET SEVERAL INNOCENT PEOPLE DIE WHILE THEY ARE POCKETING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. EVERY TIME I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP OR GONE TO THEM IN PERSON THEY TRY TO RAISE PRICES ON SIMPLISTIC PARTS THAT YOU CAN BUY CHEAPER ONLINE OR AT WALMART. THEY CHARGE FEES FOR EVERY SINGLE THING; EVEN IF YOUR FULLY COVERED WITH INSURANCE IT STILL IS NOT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE. FIRST, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED PER THE NORMAL MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. WHILE DRIVING ON 03/09/13, NOTICED THE ABS DASH LIGHT STAYED LIT. THE 4WD DASH LIGHT ALSO STARTED TO BLINK INTERMITTENTLY. ON 03/11/13 I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE PROBLEMS DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BROKEN TONE RING ALONG WITH MARGINAL BRAKE PADS. REPORTEDLY THE ABS AND 4WD SENSORS ARE INTERCONNECTED. REPORTEDLY, THE FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO PITTED TO BE TURNED. QUESTIONED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT SERVICE BULLETINS OR RECALLS, NONE WERE LIST ON THE ESCAPE CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE SERVICE MANAGERS, THE PROBLEM WITH THE TONE RING IS NOT A COMMON ISSUE. WHILE WAITING ON HE REPAIRS, I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH REPEAT FAILURES OF THE PART. I PRESENTED THIS INFO TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITHOUT ANY RELIEF OR RECOURSE OTHER THAT I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS DONE AGAIN. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A WEEK NOW BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS KEEP MALFUNCTIONING. THEY MAY WORK FOR A WEEK OR A FEW DAYS THEN THEY MALFUNCTION AGAIN. SEVERAL THINGS HAS BEEN REPLACED, THE LAST ONE BEING THE OVERHEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. MY SEATS ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE STAIN GUARD, AND HAVE A WARRANTY SO WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE VEHICLE IT SOUNDS GREAT! I DO LOVE MY CAR BUT I HATE THE FABRIC ON MY SEATS. IT STAINS FROM WATER, RAIN, CONDENSATION OF THE BOTTOM OF A BOTTLE, CUP, CAN, OR SPORTS BOTTLE, ANY TYPE OF WATER YOU NAME IT . ITS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE AND IS GOING TO BE USED IN THE RAIN. WE DON'T EVEN EAT IN IT AND I DON'T ALLOW DRINK BESIDES WATER BUT I HAVE LEARNED THIS ALSO STAINS MY SEATS. YOU COULD POUR AN ENTIRE BOTTLE OF WATER OVER ANY MATERIAL IN MY HOME AND UNLESS ITS SILK IT WOULD NOT STAIN IT!!!!!!!! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. ON APRIL 11, 2007, WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES TO AVOID CRASHING INTO A VEHICLE THAT STOPPED IN FRONT OF HER. THE REAR SUSPENSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER OF LITHIA FORD STATED THAT THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT 60 MPH. A FORD ENGINEER PROVIDED RELATED INFORMATION. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,900, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000. *AK
