The contact owns a 1997 N/A Ford F-150. The contact stated that while servicing the vehicle independently, the contact unplugged the cruise control deactivation sensor and became aware of condensation leaking from the sensor. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

The contact owned a 2000 Ford F-150. The contact stated that her son had parked the vehicle in the residence driveway and had turned off the ignition. The son had exited the vehicle and saw that a fireball had erupted from under the hood. The contact stated that she had reviewed the explosion on her home security camera. The contact stated that the fire department was called and extinguished the flames with water. A fire department report was not filed however it was commented that the origin was most likely an electrical fire. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an impound lot and was declared a total loss by her insurance company. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Safety Hotline. The contact was aware of an open recall for the vehicle, NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V017000 (Vehicle Speed Control), which had a risk of fire. The contact was not the original owner of the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

AROUND 4A.M I SMELLED FROM MY ROOM SOMETHING BURNING I WOKE UP LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW & SAW FIRE COMING OUT OF MY 2000 F-150 PICK UP TRUCK FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WENT OUTSIDE & TOOK THE MATTER IN MY OWN HANDS I QUICKLY GOT THE HOUSE WATER HOSE & TURNED OFF THE FLAMES. THANK GOD FIRE DID NOT REACH ANY FUEL LINES NOBODY WAS INJURED & FIRE DID NOT REACH THE HOUSE. I WAS THINKING OF HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN IF MY TRUCK WAS NOT MOVED FOR 2 DAYS & WAS JUST PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOME. I WENT AHEAD & DID SOME RESEARCH ON LINE & FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL 05S28-SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH FIRE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT DUE TO THE SITUATION THEIR INFORMATION WAS FORWARDED TO THE OFFICE OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL. TAMARA RECALL. MY 2000 MODEL FORD F150 WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY LAST NIGHT. IT HAD BEEN PARKED THERE SINCE NOON. AT 11:10 LAST NIGHT, I SAW FLAMES COMING FROM OUTSIDE, AND MY TRUCKS HOOD WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. WONDERING WHAT WOULD MAKE IT CATCH ON FIRE.

I BELIEVE THAT FORD IS AT FAULT BASED ON FAULTY AIRBAGS. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHEN THERE WAS A DIRECT FRONTAL IMPACT AT 55 MPH? I WOULD LIKE TO OBTAIN MORE INFORMATION REGARDING POTENTIAL AIRBAG DEFECTS SPECIFIC TO THIS VEHICLE. A 2000 F150 4X4 WITH FOUR WHEEL ABS. MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND WHEN SHE PARKED IN HER DRIVEWAY SHE HEARD A STEADY LOW TONED CLICKING SOUND FROM UNDER THE HOOD. SHE CALLED HER NEIGHBOR OVER TO LOOK IN FEAR OF NOT KNOWING WHAT THE UNUSUAL SOUND WAS. HE FOUND THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ABS CONTROL UNIT UNDER THE HOOD AND THAT IT WAS EXTREMELY HOT. HE BURNED HIS FINGERS DISCONNECTING THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS FROM THE UNIT. THE NOISE STOPPED AND THE ABS (AMBER) LIGHT IS ON WITH THE WIRES UNPLUGGED. VEHICLE: 2000 FORD F150 W/123000 MI. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAW THE SPARE TIRE,WHICH WAS MOUNTED UNDER THE BED, BOUNCING DOWN THE STREET. I STOPPED AND RETRIEVED IT AND THE HARDWARE. LUCKILY, NO ONE ELSE HIT THE TIRE AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE. HOWEVER, SEVERE VEHICLE DAMAGE, SERIOUS INJURY, OR EVEN DEATH COULD HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION OF THE MOUNT I FOUND THAT THE CABLE THAT SECURES THE TIRE WAS SNAPPED OFF. I HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THE 42,000 MILES AND HAD NOT ONCE USED THE SPARE. NOWHERE IN ANY VEHICLE MANUAL DOES IT SAY TO MAINTAIN OR REPLACE THE CABLE AFTER A CERTAIN NUMBER OF MILES. THE CABLE IS EXPECTED TO LAST THE ENTIRE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO FOLLOW BEHIND ANY FORD TRUCKS BECAUSE AT ANY MOMENT ANOTHER OF THESE CABLES COULD SNAP. THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. FORD REFUSED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CABLE SIMPLY SHOULD NOT BREAK. THE COST QUOTED BY FORD WAS ABOUT $200 TO FIX THIS. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS AT ITS OWN EXPENSE. Truck will not go into proper gear. You have to put emergency brake on and put transmission in neutral to crank the vehicle. Then you have to put gear shift into a different gear setting to be able to drive. The auto gear box linkage cable has issues. The truck will not go into park and will result in the vehicle running you over or run into something.

I OWN A 2000 FORD F-150 AND YESTERDAY THE HEATER CORE STARTING LEAKING. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN SERVICED ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL. I ONLY HAVE 64000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL REPAIR SHOPS AND WAS TOLD THAT FORD HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CORE FAILING AND THAT THEY HAD A RECALL ON IT. I CONTACTED SEVERAL FORD DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD ESTIMATES OF FROM $600.00 TO $800.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ON 2/22/2005 WE TOOK OUR 2000 FORD F-150 TO COMMUNITY FORD IN MOORESVILLE INDIANA FOR RECALL WORK TO DISABLE THE CRUISE CONTROL .WHEN WE GOT OUR TRUCK BACK, AFTER THE TRIP HOME, I REALIZED THAT I HAD NO TURN SIGNAL, NO BRAKE LIGHTS, NO EMERGENCY FLASHERS, AND MY HEAD LIGHTS WORKED AT TIMES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY HAD NO CLUE WHAT WAS WRONG BUT SAID TO BRING IT BACK. AFTER WORK THAT EVENING WE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. WE WAITED AN HOUR WHILE THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING, COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. SUDDENLY THEY DECIDED TO MOVE THE TILT STEERING WHEEL AND LIGHTS WENT OFF AND ON. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT AND REPAIRED A BROKEN HARNESS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. WHEN I ASKED HOW THIS HARNESS GOT BROKEN, THEY SAID IT'S COMMON IN RANGERS AND OCCASIONALLY IN F-150'S. I ASKED FOR THE BROKEN PART AND THEY COULDN'T FIND IT. THEY CHARGED ME $131.13 AND SAID IF I HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THIS TO CALL THE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER FOR FORD. THEY WERE OF NO HELP. I CALLED 3 OTHER FORD DEALERSHIPS AND ASKED IF THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM. ONE HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT AND SUGGESTED I CALL THE MANAGER OF COMMUNITY FORD. ANOTHER HAD HEARD OF IT ,BUT NEVER SEEN IT,AND THE THIRD HAD SEEN IT ONCE. I ASKED THE CUSTOMER CARE PEOPLE WHY THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS, AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE, ONLY FIRES WERE CONSIDER SAFETY ISSUES. I'M SORRY I HAVE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT WHILE DRIVING TURN SIGNALS DIDN'T WORK. TAKATA RECALL, ON MY 2000 FORD F-150 IT HAD VERY FEW ISSUES TILL THIS OCCURED. AT JUST OVER 130,000 MILES THE ENGINE BEGAN KNOCKING ON THE INTERSTATE AND PROGRESSIVELY GREW WORSE AS I WAS LOOKING FOR A EXIT, IT STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND I GOT IT TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE IT DIED. LATER THAT DAY I HAD A TOW TRUCK PULL IT UP TO A TRUSTED SHOP ABOUT 60 MILES AWAY. THE MECHANIC THERE SAID THAT IT DROPED A ROD AND THE CRANKSHAFT WAS SHOT. AFTER TALKING TO HIM, HE SAID THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY FREQUENT OCCURRENCE. I TOOK IT TO GET A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER SHOP A FEW MILES AWAY AND HAD THE SAME CONVERSATION. BOTH MECHANICS AND A FEW FOURMS ON THE INTERNET SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 1998-2003 AND 2004 HERITAGE, THAT HAVE THE FORD 5.4 TRITON 2V ENGINE. AT THE MECHANIC THE THE TRUCK WAS DIAGNOSED AS NONREPAREABLE ENGINE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE SWAPED OUT FOR A DIFFRENT ONE. THE COST OF THIS WAS FOR A REBUILT ENGINE BY JASPER'S BECASUE A DONOR TRUCK ENGINE WOULD BE PRONE TO THE SAME FAILURE. THE COST TO REPLACE WOULD TOTAL OUT TO BE AROUND $6500 BETWEEN PARTS AND LABOR INCLUDING THE NEW ENGINE. BE WARY OF THE FORD 5.4 2V ENGINES, THERE ARE A FEW UNICORNS OUT THERE THAT WILL NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM, BUT MOST, EVEN IF THEY HAVE REGULAR MAINTENANCE LIKE MINE WILL BE PRONE TO THIS FATE.

IN 2006, I CHANGED PLUGS AT 95,000 MILES AS A TUNE UP. SIX MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE #8 SPARK PLUG WAS EJECTED. HAD IT TOWED HOME, CHECKED THE THREADS AND REPLACED THE PLUG AND COIL. ON APRIL 6, 2017, AT 134,000 MILES, THE SAME PLUG WAS EJECTED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP TO INSTALL A HELICOIL REPAIR. THEY WARNED ME THAT THE NEXT FAILURE WOULD REQUIRE A HEAD REMOVAL, AND SIGNIFICANT COST. THIS IS A VERY WEAK POINT IN THIS DESIGN, FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL A SLIGHT BURNING SMELL. I WAS FOLLOWING A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK AND I ASSUMED IT WAS JUST THE SMELL OF THAT TRUCKS BRAKES. A FEW MILES UP THE HIGHWAY MY TRUCK SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I PULLED OVER THATS WHEN I SAW ANOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I GRABBED MY KEYS AND POPPED THE HOOD. THATS WHEN I SAW A GOOD SIZED FLAME ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I WENT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE TRUCK AND CALLED 911. MY TRUCK QUICKLY WENT UP IN FLAMES. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND ALOT OF TRUCKS THE SAME YEAR AS MINE WERE CATCHING FIRE DUE TO A RECALL FOR THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR. I WAS DRIVING MY FORD F-150 AT AROUND 60 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE RUBBER PEALED OFF MY GENERAL GRABBER AW TIRE. AS A RESULT IT CAUSED ME TO SWERVE AND ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. MY REAR FENDER WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AS WELL AS MY REAR LIGHT. I HAVE PRIMEWELL VALERA TIRES ON THE FRONT AND THEY ARE CRACKING. I PURCHASED ALL TIRES AT FIRESTONE. OF COURSE, WHEN BRINGING THE COMPLAINT TO FIRESTONE THEY SAY I HAVE TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER SINCE THEY DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THAT NAME BRAND.

LEFT REAR WHEEL FELL OFF THE PICKUP. DAMAGING REAR DISC AND AXLE. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD A VIBRATION PROBLEM AT 65 MILE PH VARYING IN INTENSITY. THE DEALER REPLACE THE DRIVE AXLE, WHEEL, CALIPER/DISC AND BRAKE LINES FREE OF CHARGE. THE VIBRATION AT 65MPH STILL CONTINUES. THE DEALER HAS STATED THE VIBRATION IS WITHIN ALLOWABLE LIMITS AS DETERMINED BY THE MANUFACTURER. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE TIRE SHOP AND HAD THE VALVE STEM REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY FIVE WEEKS LATER, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SHE CHECKED THE TIRES AND REALIZED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE VALVE STEM WAS NOW CRACKED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SHOP AND HAD THE FAILURE REPAIRED. RECENTLY, THREE WEEKS LATER, THE TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE HAD COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS CRACKED. APPROX. A MONTH AGO I WAS TRAVELING FROM OUR SHOP IN MY WORK TRUCK[AKA F-150].THE SPEED OUT OF THE CITY WAS 35 MPH ON THE MAIN RD.I EXPERIENCED A SEATBELT DISCONNECT,I RELATCHED IMMEDIATELY WHILE DRIVING.I TRAVELED A LITTLE FURTHER AND ENTERED THE FREEWAY SYSTEM.THE BELT CAME UNLATCHED AGAIN.I FURTHER INSPECTED THE LATCH LATER AFTER WORK,DISCOVERING THAT THE RELEASE BUTTON STAYS DOWN WHEN FASTENING THE BELT INTO IT.SO I TRIED LIGHTLY LUBRICATING THE LATCH,DROVE THE NEXT DAY AND BELT STILL RELEASED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING.IF I NORMALLY PUSH THE LATCH INTO THE RECEIVER THE RELEASE STAYS DOWN A BIT AND THE BELT POPS LOOSE WHILE I'M DRIVING.AT VARIOUS TIMES THE LATCH WOULD STAY UP AND HOLD THE BELT AS INTENDED.MOST OF THE TIME THOUGH THAT IS NOT THE CASE AND IT FREQUENTLY RELEASES WHILE I'M DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. *TR

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR QUIT WORKING WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS PROBLEMS. THE SEAT BELT WILL RETRACT AND NOT GIVE ANY SLACK. HE UNBOLTED THE SEAT BELT FITTING FROM THE FLOOR TO ALLOW THE STRAP TO GO IN FURTHER. THE STRAP CAME OUT, BUT SUBSEQUENTLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS BEFORE. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE REAR OUTBOARD SEATBELTS DISENGAGE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. FORD HAS ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON THE 2001 EXPEDITION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. WHEN TRYING TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, THE TRUCK MADE A LOUD POPPING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. WHEN I RAISED THE HOOD, I COULD SMELL UNBURNT FUEL. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS COULD BE A BLOWN SPARK PLUG FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS AND TALKED TO SEVERAL MECHANICS ABOUT THE SYMPTOMS I HAVE EXPERIENCED. ALL HAVE SAID THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE AND OTHER FORD ENGINES. I CALLED FORD MOTOR CO. AND THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS ENGINE. MY LOCAL DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE STOCK PLENTY OF IGNITION COILS ON HAND. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, MY GRANDFATHER [XXX] BOUGHT A 2000 FORD F-150 ON 12-15-08. ON SEPT. 24,2010 HE AND MY GRANDMOTHER WAS DRIVING BACK HOME WHEN A PERSON STARTED FLAGGING THEM DOWN. BOTH GAS TANK STRAPS HAD FAILED AND THE GAS TANK WAS DRAGGING ON THE GROUND AND LEAKING GASOLINE, LUCKILY THEY STOPPED, AND THE TANK DID NOT EXPLODE.THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED OUT. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT THE STRAPS WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED WHICH CAUSED THE STRAPS TO FAIL. MY GRANDFATHER SAID THAT THE DEALER HAD INFORMED HIM THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD GARAGE KEPT IT, AND HE HAS ALSO KEPT IT IN A GARAGE SINCE HE HAD PURCHASED IT. THE TANK AND STRAPS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE REPAIR COST WAS $524.29. I WISH THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A NOTICE SENT OUT TO THE CONSUMERS ABOUT THE 32 CLAIMS. THIS COULD HAVE GAVE THE CONSUMER NOTICE TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT, PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. IF THE TANK WOULD HAVE EXPLODED, I COULD HAVE LOST BOTH OF MY GRANDPARENTS. OCCUPANTS' HEADS SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY HEAD RESTRAINTS FROM CONTACTING THE GLASS. I HAVE A FEW FRIENDS WITH THE SAME TRUCK AND WE ALL ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NOTHING WRONG, BUT I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY NOT WORKING TO UNLOCK OR LOCK THE DOORS. MY WINDOW ON MY FORD F150 WAS LEAKING. WATER LEAKED INTO THE CAB AND INTO THE GEM AND FUSEBOX. FIRST, MY FAN STAYED ON AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED. THEN A BUZZING SOUND CAME FROM AROUND THE FUSEBOX. BATTERY KEPT DRAINING AND THE IGNITION CHIMED WITH KEY REMOVED. HEATER BLOWER RAN AFTER IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND TOUCH KEY PADS STUCK CAUSING LIGHTS TO STAY ON. AT APPROX. 2:22 AM ON THE MORNING OF 3/4/2016, THE ENGINE BECAME ENGULFED IN FIRE AFTER HAVING BEEN PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE 3:00 PM ON 3/3/2016. WE LATER LEARNED OF A NUMBER OF RECALLS LEAD BY FORD FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A DEFECTIVE BRAKE SWITCH WHICH WOULD CAUSE THIS TYPE OF FIRE. This vehicle, as do all, have dual master cylinders, great, always have a front or rear brake system function in an emergency, but this vehicle also has FLEXIBLE to hard lines from master cylinder to ABS unit. I was driving down our long downhill driveway, pressed on the brake pedal, heard a pop and pedal went to the floor, NO brakes at all and buy the time I got to the emergency brake, which did little to stop the truck, I was out in the road. Glad I wasn't out on a highway doing 50MPH. Examined what had happened and the brake line from the master cylinder to ABS unit split where the flexible line joined the hard line, and when that line breaks, no brakes at all, no backup safety system. Don't know how the flexible lines ever passed safety requirements when manufactured, but they certainly shouldn't be on a truck that's 23 years old and all should be replaced with hard lines.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE OFFRAMP, WHEN I GOT TO THE END, I HAD NEARLY 100% BRAKE FAILURE. I MANAGED TO DODGE A SEMI BY PULLING ON THE SHOULDER AND USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE BRAKE LINE HAD CORRODED FROM FROM TO BACK. I LOOKED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND SEE A LOT OF THESE ISSUES, BUT SINCE THE GREAT MOUNDS OF NHTSA SEEM TO BELIEVE NEARLY TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE IS NOT AN ISSUE, I JUST REPLACE THE PART OF THE LINE THAT IS LEAKING. IT WILL VERY LIKELY FAIL AGAIN SOON, BUT I KNOW THAT IT THAT WAS A PROBLEM, THEN NHTSA WOULD DO ITS JOB AND PUSH A RECALL. JUST ANOTHER CASE OF NHTSA DECIDING WHICH CONSUMERS SHOULD BE PROTECTED UNDER THE LAW AND WHICH ONES SHOULD HAVE THEIR LIVES PUT AT RISK. The contact owns a 2000 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 7 MPH, the vehicle in front of hers stopped abruptly, causing her to slam on the brakes. The vehicle hit the rear end of the other vehicle. The front passenger's side bumper of the vehicle was bent inward. The contact stated that it was a fender bender; however, the driver's side and passenger's side air bags deployed. The contact noticed a strong burning odor. The contact stated that the police officer confirmed that there was a strong burning odor and smoke; however, when the officer opened the hood, there was no smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that she sustained a torn skin on the arm due to the air bag deploying. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. THE STARTER MOTOR WAS ENGAGING WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING WITH THE KEY IN THE RUN POSITION. I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO STOP IT. THE HEATER BLOWER, PARKING LIGHTS, DASH LIGHT AND GAUGES, KEY CHIME, AND RADIO WOULD TURN ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES WITHOUT A KEY IN THE IGNITION. HE CALLED A DEALER AND THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V072000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS), BUT IT ONLY APPLIED TO THE FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS NOTED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE IS BEING TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON JANUARY 5, 2009 FOR A DIAGNOSIS. OUR RV SEEMED SLUGGISH ON GOING UP ON HILLS, THEN SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE WHILE GOING UPHILL ON HWY 77 IN WV. TOWED TO A LARGE AAA REPAIR CENTRE, WHERE THEY LOOKED INTO SOME SPARK PLUGS AND PULLED 5 OUT, ONE OF WHICH WAS SO BADLY DAMAGED, FLATTENED WITH TWISTED THREADS, THEY DETERMINED IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. HAD IT TOWED AGAIN DEC. 26 TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER. THEY INSPECTED THE ENGINE AND FOUND A HOLE IN ONE OF THE PISTONS. REPAIR WOULD BE NEW ENGINE ASSEBLY. NOT ONE THAT HAS SEEN THE SPARK PLUG AND KNOW THE MILES (29,500) ON THIS RV BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD OR SHOULD HAPPEN. IT NEEDS TO BE TOWED AGAIN TO A CAPABLE REPAIR SHOP, WHICH SEEMS TO BE EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND. FORDS MOTOR COMPANY ANSWER IS THAT WARRANTY TIME IS OVER, FIX IT AND PAY FOR IT. APPRX. ESTIMATES ARE $6000.00 - 7000.00. THIS JUST HAPPENING BEFORE CHRISTMAS INVOLVES SO MANY PERSONAL HARDSHIPS, INCLUDING 19 HOUR BUS TRIP GOING NORTH, CANCELLATIONS OF SO MANY RESERVATIONS, INCLUDING AIRLINE TICKETS. The contact owns a 1991 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle was sluggish. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as needed after warming up. The contact stated upon refueling the vehicle, the gasoline would splash out of the fuel tank filler neck and onto the gas pump. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.

Right Price Auto stated that they would do repairs 2000 ford f150 XLT purchased truck, they supposedly repaired gas gage however bad battery & rear tires(extremely bald) were left untouched & kept lying about getting tires replaced(rather they were used tires or not),just constantly keep lying...... Also keep lying about repairing my 2015 ram 1500 5.7V8 big horn stating they fixed it(Misfire on #8),with all the lying & scheming(Now all Coil packs(8) & spark plugs(16) needs to be replaced),trucks are just sitting in my yard,2000 f150 bad battery & bald tires in rear(unsafe to drive),I feel cheated, they sold my trade in(2003 dodge ram 1500)with in a week & leave my son & I with trucks that are inoperable, they stated these things would be repaired before we signed any papers but once we signed AS-IS document they started with the lying & scheming, either I want these matters fixed or I want the $2000 back for my trade in & the $500 cash they took off my debit card for a total of $2,500 & the $1500 cash down payment I gave them for the ford f150 for a total of $4,000, We have trucks that are no use to us or they need to fix them, I'm not making anymore payments til these problems are resolved, period....I made the first payments that were due(giving them the benefit of doubt) thinking the company would repair the trucks but no they act as if nothing is wrong & expect me to keep paying them, which I refuse, if this is not fraud I don't know what is & to think I brought a SUV from 2 years ago (no problems whatsoever) So I return to purchase from them again & they [XXX] my son [XXX] old) & myself over, WOW!! FIRST I PURCHASED THE FORD F-150 2000 YEAR MODEL FROM A CAR DEALERSHIP ON OCT 28, 2019. IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS PROBLEMS KEEPING IT RUNNING. THEY PUT A NEW BATTERY IN IT 2 DAYS LATER THEN WHILE REACHING 50 MPH MY TONS WOULD DROP AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE I HAD JUST PUT 51 DOLLARS IN THE TANK, THEN I PUSHED THE GAS TO THE FLOOR MY ROOMS WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO 3 THEN I WOULD HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS AND IT SEEMED TO DO A HARD SWITCH IN GEAR. AS THIS CONTINUED THE ENTIRE TRUCK SHOOK TILL I FIGURED OK JUST PUMP THE GAS AND LET OFF BEFORE THE SHAKING GOT TO BAD. I WAS TRAVELING IN NEUTRAL, DOWNHILL, AT ABOUT 40MPH THROUGH A SHALLOW TURN AS I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY. WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN 4TH GEAR TO ACCELERATE, I HAD NO POWER. THE TACHOMETER WAS AT ZERO AND I TRIED TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND BEGIN BRAKING, BOTH FAILED TO WORK. MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 4/22/2010 WHILE DRIVING A 2000 FORD F-150 4X2 TWO DOOR PICKUP TRUCK. SIDE MARKS AT THE SCENE REVEALED THAT THE F-150'S ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO SLIDE RESULTING IN A FAILURE TO STOP IN TIME TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME HOWEVER, THE POWER WINDOWS & WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE NOT WORKING. I HEARD "CLICKING" NOISES COMING FROM THE FUSE BOX. AFTER PLACING IT INTO DRIVE, THE RADIO WOULD NOT WORK. WHEN I PLACED IT IN PARK, THE RADIO STARTED WORKING. WHEN USING THE PANEL/FLOOR DEFROST, I HEARD AN ELECTRICAL SHORTING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. ON 1/23/05, IT WOULD NOT START; ONLY THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON; I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL; THE ENGINE DID NOT TURN OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KRIEGER FORD. INITIALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A NEW STARTER. AFTER FURTHER TESTING, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUSE BOX AND GEM WERE WATER-LOGGED DUE TO WATER LEAKING INTO THEM AS THE RESULT OF A FAULTY SEAL IN THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IS THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED WINDSHIELD. I FOUND AN ARTICLE IRONICALLY TITLED "QUALITY IS THE PRIME IMPERATIVE WITH FORD". THE 1ST PARAGRAPH STATES "INSTALLING WINDSHIELDS IN VEHICLES HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PAIN. FIXING WATER LEAKS IS THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO DO IN A VEHICLE ASSEMBLY PLANT". THE 2ND PARAGRAPH STATES "...HAS BROUGHT THE NUMBER OF WINDSHIELD LEAKS SIGNIFICANTLY UNDER 1 PER 20 HOURS OF PRODUCTION..." THE 3RD PARAGRAPH REFERENCES THE WORD "DEFECTS". STRONG VEHICLE VIBRATION DURING BRAKE APPLICATION, ESPECIALLY DURING DOWN HILL BRAKING. CALLED CORNING FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE I BOUGHT TRUCK NEW. THEY REFUSED TO HONOR ANY WARRANTY WORK ON BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THAT MANY MILES ON TRUCK. CALLED CUSTOMER 800# - THEY ALSO REFUSED REPAIR COVERAGE. TOOK TRUCK TO SCHWAB TIRE IN REDDING, CA.( IT'S THIRTY+ MILES TO SCHWAB TIRE FROM MY HOME. IT?S ALMOST EIGHTY MILES ONE WAY TO CORNING FORD FROM MY HOUSE.)SCHWAB TELLS ME THAT VEHICLE VIBRATION ON BRAKE APPLICATION INDICATES WARPED ROTORS. AFTER FIVE TRIPS TO SCWAB TIRE FOR ROTOR TURNS, THEN COMPLETELY REPLACING ALL FOUR ROTORS....NOTHING STOPPED VIBRATION. BY NOW THE VIBRATION IS MUCH MORE SEVERE THAN WHEN IT FIRST STARTED. DURING THE WHOLE HISTORY, FROM 43,958 MILES TO THE PRESENT 74,762 THE VIBRATION/SHAKING HAS NEVER GONE TOTALLY AWAY. THE LAST THING SCHWAB DID WAS REPLACE ALL FOUR SETS OF BRAKE PADS, EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T NEED IT. BY THEN SCHWAB WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF IDEAS. I FINALLY TOOK THE TRUCK TO CORNING FORD, HOPING IT WAS POSSIBLY COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT WAS. CORNING FORD SERVICE MANAGER, STEVE LOWERY, SAT ME DOWN AND EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT WAS WRONG!!! FORD MOTOR CO. REFUSES TO ADMIT THEY HAVE A DESIGN FLAW IN THEIR BRAKE SYSTEM. CORNING FORD DOES NOT DENY THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING DESIGN. FIRST, THE BALL JOINTS WORE OUT. THEN, AND MORE IMPORTANT, THE PROBLEM IS THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS/BACKING PLATES ARE TOTALY SEALED AFTER ASSEMBLY. THERE ISN'T ANY WAY TO LUBRICATE/SERVICE THE BEARINGS AT REGULAR INTERVALS. THE SEALS EVENTUALLY DRY OUT AND THE BEARING LUBRICANT/GREASE SEEPS ON TO THE HUB ASSEMBLY ON ONLY THE INBOARD BRAKE PAD. THIS THEN MEANS THAT DURING BRAKE APPLICATION, THE INBOARD PAD IS SLIPPING AND ONLY THE OUTSIDE PAD IS APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE ROTOR. THE OUTSIDE ROTOR IS HAVING TO WORK HARDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IS CREATING UNNECESSARY HEAT ON THE ROTOR, THUS WARPING THE ROTOR.

WE HAE A 2000 FORD F350 THAT WAS RECENTLY IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE BODY SHOP FOUND THAT IT HAD PRIOR DAMAGE. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD PRIOR DAMAGE. THE PRIOR DAMAGE MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT HAS THE WRONG CAB ON IT AND THE WRONG CAB HAS BEEN WELDED ON, AS YOU CAN SEE THE WELDING MARKS UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK, AND ALSO THE SEAT BELTS HAVE BEEN BOLTED IN AND NOT DRILLED IN, BUT THEIR ARE MANY DRILLED HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK CAB. THE BODY SHOP FEELS THAT THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE WELDING COULD COLLAPSE. WE HAVE PICTURES OF THE PREVIOUS DAMAGE ALONG WITH TWO WITNESSES. WE HAVE NOTIFIED MID STATES FORD AND ALSO FORD MOTOR COMPANY WITH A LONG LIST OF THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED SINCE JUNE 9TH, 2003. MID STATES FORD HAS NOT CONTACTED US SINCE DENNIS CONTACTED THEM ON JULY 8TH AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET RIGHT BACK TO US. THERE ARE TWO SITUATIONS: #1: MULTIPLE REAR SPRING FAILURES ON SEVERAL F150 S-CAB 4WD VEHICLES FROM 1995 THRU 2000 BUILD DATE. THE MAIN LEAF CRACKS AT AXLE SPRING PERCH RESULTING IN A PUNCTURE OF BED FLOOR ON SOME INCIDENTS. ALL REQUIRING SPRING REPLACEMENT AND RECENTLY REPAIRED BY USING AFTER MARKET HEAVY DUTY SPRINGS ON BOTH SIDES. #2: MULTIPLE VEHICLES ALSO EXPERIENCED FRONT FENDER ALIGNMENT CHANGE RESULTING IN FRONT DOOR FORWARD EDGE BINDING. NOT CAUSED BY FRONT BUMPER OR FENDER IMPACT. SEVERAL OCCASIONS OF SEVERE BIND RESULTING IN DOOR SKIN AND FORWARD LIP DAMAGE WHEN DOOR WAS FORCED OPEN TO ALLOW EGRESS OF OPERATOR. REPAIRS WERE MADE BY REALIGNING FRONT FENDER ASSEMBLY AND SOME DOOR HINGES NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO DISTORTION CAUSED WHEN DOOR WAS FORCED OPEN AGAINST THE REAR EDGE OF OFFENDING FENDER. NO COSMETIC REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE SO THE DOOR FORWARD EDGES AND FENDER REAR EDGES REMAIN SEVERELY BENT BUT CLEARANCE IS ADEQUATE TO PREVENT BINDING AFTER REPAIRS ARE DONE. NOTE: THESE VEHICLES ARE OPERATED OFF-ROAD AND ON GRADED GRAVEL ROADS ON KAHO`OLAWE ISLAND AS PART OF MIXED FLEET OF VEHICLES IN SUPPORT OF UNEXPLORED ORDINANCE CLEARANCE ON THE FORMER NAVAL GUNFIRE AND BOMBING RANGE. TO DATE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED NO SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THE 30 OR SO 1985 TO 1986 CHEVY PICK-UPS USED IN IDENTICAL MANNER AND NO VEHICLES WERE OVER-LOADED USUALLY CARRYING ONLY ONE TO THREE PASSENGERS AND HAND-CARRIED GEAR IN THE BED.
