THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR SUPPORTS WERE RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS BLEW OUT OF THE ALUMINUM HEAD ON TOP OF THE MOTOR. THIS VEHICLE MALFUNCTION DESTROYED A COIL PACK, SPARK PLUG AND WIRING.

TRUCK STARTED MAKING NOISE EVERY TIME THERE WAS A BUMP. HANDLING FELT LOOSE. DISCOVERED THAT THE RADIATOR CORE SUPPORT HAD RUSTED COMPLETELY AWAY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE MECHANIC REFERRED TO THE CONDITION AS "ROT". THIS SUPPORTS THE RADIATOR, A/C AND PROVIDES AN ATTACHMENT FOR THE FRONT FENDERS. I BOUGHT 4 VEHICLES THE SAME YEAR. CHECKED THE OTHER 3 AND THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I WILL BE FILING REPORTS ON THEM TOO. *JS

The contact owns a 2002 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH and attempting to pass a slower vehicle, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the pedal suddenly extended to the floorboard causing the vehicle to immediately accelerate faster than intended. During the failure the speed increased to over 75 MPH before the contact shifted the transmission into neutral and the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure on two other occasions and the cruise control feature was never activated during the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 94,000.

I WAS DRIVING AND THE SPEED WOULD GO UP TO 90 MPH, THE TRUCK WAS NOT GOING THE SPEED IN REALITY. THEN THE RPM'S WOULD GO UP REALLY HIGH, I STOPPED THE TRUCK PUT IT IN PARK AND BACK IN DRIVE TRIED TO DRIVE OFF. THE TRUCK THEN WOULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH AND THE GAS PEDDLE WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN TRYING TO GO, THE ENGINE STARTED SMOKING AND WHEN I PULLED OVER OPENED THE HOOD IT WAS SMOKING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE UPPER CORNER OF THE TRUCK. AFTER HAVING A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT, HE SAID THE BREAK PRESSURE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT'S A HOT WIRE AND IT'S LEAKING. AFTER CHECKING THE FORD VIN CHECK IT DIDN'T SAY MY TRUCK WAS APART OF THE RECALL BUT THEY YEAR AND MAKE AND MODEL IS. I'M CONFUSED AND AT THIS POINT DON'T WANT TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN A FIRE BALL LIKE THAT IF IT CATCHES ON FIRE...

CAR WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 65 MPH. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES I WAS ABLE TO SLOW IT DOWN AND CONTROL THE CAR. WHEN I GOT OFF THE EXIT RAMP AND TRIED TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT HIGH RPMS AND I COULDN'T COMPLETELY STOP CAR UNTIL I REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. I'VE TRIED TO START THE CAR AFTER THAT, BUT THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STARTS RACING AS IF I HAVE MY FOOT PRESSED ON ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE GAS.

GOT HOME FROM WORK PARKED MY VEHICLE IN MY CARPORT AVAILABLE SPACE IN MY APARTMENT. TURN OFF THE TRUCK COMPLETELY, NOTHING LEFT ON OR ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS TO CAUSE A INCIDENT. WHEN TO MY APARTMENT UNIT TOOK A SHOWER AND NOT MORE THAN 20-30MINS WAS ALARMED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS CAUGHT ON FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY RAN OUTSIDE TO THE CARPORT SAW THE ENGINE ON FIRE, TRIED TO STOP IT WITH ANYTHING THAT I COULD FIND (WATER HOLES) OR EXTINGUISHER. MY NEIGHBORS CALLED 911 AS I SAW THE FLAMES GETTING HIGHER AND STRONGER THE FIRE MOVED INTO MY DAUGHTERS VEHICLE WHICH WAS PARKED NEXT TO OUR OTHER CARPORT SPACE AND CAUGHT ON FIRE AS WELL. OVERALL, THERE ARE TWO VEHICLES COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THERE WAS ALSO TWO OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED THAT HAVE SOME BURNING DAMAGES. AS WELL AS PROPERTY DAMAGES INTO OUR AVAILABLE PARKING SPACES. SOME WINDOWS FROM THE LOWER APARTMENTS WERE CRACKED. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED INTO MY PARKING PORT, NOT IN MOTION BUT TURNED OFF COMPLETELY.

When it rains the rain is somehow getting into the fuse box under the steering column and causing it to drain the battery, short out some of the instrument cluster, make noise, blow fuses, and rust up. It is a fire hazard and it puts all inside the truck in danger. I have not yet had a fire but if I keep the truck as is it will eventually.

WOKE UP AT 1AM ONE 4-1-2018 TO MY FORD F 150 ON FIRE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT UNDER THE HOOD. UNKNOW TO US OUR LOCAL SHERIFF HAD SPOTTED THE FIRE AND ALREADY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. TOTAL LOSS. BOUGHT THE TRUCK A FEW MONTHS BACK WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A RECALL ON THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN OUR DRIVE NEXT TO OUR OTHER CARS FOR 3 HOUR WITH KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION.

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS PERIODICALLY OVER THE PAST TWO WITH MY VEHICLE(ORIGINALLY THOUGHT TO BE THE BATTERY), RANGING FROM HIGHLIGHT AND FLASHERS INTERMITTENTLY COMING ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS LOCKED AND TURNED OFF. THE RADIO AND BLOWER MOTOR HAVING ISSUES AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT COMING ON ANS STAYING ON. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED MORE AND MORE THAT THE WINDSHIELD IS LEAKING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE WIPERS AND HEAD LIGHTS LIGHTS SHUT OFF ONCE WHILST DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DURING HEAVY RAIN.. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON THE 12/23/2016 AT MY PLACE OF WORK (NTB), ONE OF MY CO WORKERS NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS FADING IN AND OUT THE RADIO COMING ON AND GOING OFF. WENT OVER TO THE TRUCK TO MAKE SURE IT WAS TURNED OFF AND NOT LEFT ON BY MISTAKE BUT THE ENGINE WAS OFF. SO I BROUGHT THE TRUCK INTO THE WORK SHOP TO HAVE A LOOK OVER THE VEHICLE AND DID SOME DIAGNOSTICS ON IT AND DISCOVERED MULTIPLE DEFECT CODES THAT ALL CONNECT THROUGH THE GEM(GENERAL ELECTRICAL MODULE) ON THE INTERIOR FUSE PANEL. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I ALSO NOTICED BOTH THE GEM AND FUSE PANEL BOX HAVE GOT WATER INGESTION AND GREEN/BROWN STAINS COMING OUT THE BOTTOM. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE ABOUT THESE'S ISSUES AND ITS A COMMON PROBLEM OVER MODELS FROM FORD FROM 98-03. THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE GEM AND FUSE BOX AND TO RESEAL/REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. I have a 2002 Ford F-150 and The problem is with the transmission my vechile acts like it's going in reverse and when it goes to backup it seems as something is locked I been over the brakes and rear end and yet nothing has came up I even replaced the transmission filter to see if that would help but nothing so I been having to drive my truck with no reverse and today the overdrive light on the shifter started blinking what is the problem with these transmission please Ford do a recall to fix the transmission

I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO ISSUES. I GOT TO WORK AND PARKED MY TRUCK. LATER THAT NIGHT I WENT TO MOVE MY TRUCK TO THE FRONT OF THE WAREHOUSE AND MY TRUCK WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. WHEN IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND I PRESS THE GAS THE TRUCK WILL MOVE FORWARD. IN THE PAST WEEK I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY, STARTER RELAY SOLENOID WHICH SITS ON THE FIREWALL, AND THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH OR TRANSMISSION GEAR CONTROL SOLENOID AS I HAVE HEARD IT CALLED. ENGAGE CLUTCH PEDAL AND CLUTCH PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THEY HAVE A PLASTIC BUSHING THAT GOES AROUND A STEEL BALL FITTING TO HOLD CLUTCH CABLE TO CLUTCH PEDAL. IT IS SO BAD I CARRY EXTRA PLASTIC BUSHINGS WITH ME IN CASE OF FAILURE. MY CONCERN IS THAT WHEN I HAVE A FULLY LOADED TRUCK WITH CAMPER AND HORSE TRAILER IN TOE. I AM STUCK WITH A TRUCK STUCK IN GEAR AND NO WAY TO DISENGAGE CLUTCH. EVEN EMPTY THIS IS A SCARY UNCOMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE. The contact owns a 2002 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made a loud sound. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed and determined that cylinder #3 spark plug had blown out, but no repair was recommended at the time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

The contact owns a 2002 Ford F-150. The contact stated that she observed smoke emanating from under the vehicle near the engine compartment. The contact stated that she opened the hood and flames erupted from the engine compartment near the battery. The contact threw dirt on the engine to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

1. Coils on top of spark plug get moisture in them when there is just the right kind of rain storm. This makes the coil or coils fail until the dry out. This seems to make the coil eventually go bad. Yes, it is available for inspection. 2. Not sure if its a combination of heat and moisture but sometime right away and sometimes a few minutes into driving the coil or coils fail and the engine loses power. Then if seems to be a random, unpredictable occurrence until it dries out, Very Unsafe. If one coil fails it loses just a little power, but if more than one fails it loses a lot of power and stalls at times. This is why I am writing it up. A few time now, I have gone to pull into traffic and then I lose power and either have to run off the road or just upset the car behind me if they are not too close. 3 & 4. I have advise all the Ford dealerships in my area trying to find one that has a fix yet. The only fix Ford has, is a new designed coil, which does not appear to be any better. The dealership just replaces the coil. I have had all my coils replaced, some 2 or 3 times. 5. It depends, sometime the engine light will come on and advise which coil is misfiring and sometimes if does not. Right now my engine light is on and it displays the #6 coil misfire. Then the engine light will go out after it dries out and stops failing or it will stay off if the coil had gone bad again. I am sure its not just the F 150, but the 4.6 liter engine that is in other vehicles. I started keeping track in 2012. I wrote a letter to Ford in 2015 and they replied, there was no recall. I have several repair receipts and the letter from Ford if you need that. Just search on your site and you will see many complaints. One example Manufacturer Communication number: 041601. If you google "ford fix for moisture in coils" you will see many forums trying to figure out a fix and just complaining.

Front seatbelts on 2002 Ford F-150 become unlatched unexpectedly while driving. This has been noticed over the last two or three years occasionally, but has been getting worse. Seat belt has become unlatched about 5-6 times during a 600 mile road trip. Seat belt was confirmed by two passengers that it was indeed latched correctly and nothing pushing the release button. Seatbelt was confirmed to be latched by firmly tugging on seat belt to witness that it was latched. Both passengers confirmed that the seatbelt become unlatched randomly while driving. Passenger and driver safety is at risk. If driver seatbelt comes unlatched while driving or during accident, the driver could loose control of truck and put other drivers at risk. The unlatching does not show any warning signs as to when it will become unlatched. Seatbelt just becomes unlatched and starts to recoil without warning. Ford service just says that the truck is out of warranty and that they dont cover seat belt replacements as there is no open recalls for such. Seatbelt is still currently installed on vehicle but can be available for inspection on vehicle or removed for inspection.

I OWN TWO FORD SUPER CABS AND BOTH TRUCKS THE BACK PASSENGER DOORS FROZE SHUT. ON ONE I PAID OVER $500 FOR THE PARTS AND THEN HAD A MECHANIC REPAIR THE DOORS AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WOULD LAST FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE YEARS. ON THE ONE I LISTED ABOVE I WENT ON YOU TUBE AND THEY HAVE VIDEOS HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THAT ALL FORD TRUCK SUPER CABS, I.E. F150, F250, AND F350 THE REAR DOORS WILL EVENTUALLY FREEZE UP. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE BACK SEAT PASSENGER. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY USED A PLASTIC CONNECTOR FOR THE TERMINAL OF THE RELEASE CABLE INSTEAD OF ONE MADE OF METAL. THE PLASTIC DETERIORATES IN THE HEAT WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE CABLE TO PULL THE RELEASE MECHANISM FAR ENOUGH.

MY TRUCK THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW IS A 2002 FORD F150 SUPERCREW THAT I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF. THE TRUCK HAS JUST OVER 64,000 MILES ON IT. ON OCCASION I DO USE THE TRUCK LIKE A TRUCK AND TOW A 19' BOAT WITH IT AND I USE IT TO PICK UP LUMBER ETC... THREE WEEKS AGO I BEGAN TO HEAR AN ODD METALLIC SOUND FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK WHILE GOING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I CLIMBED UNDERNEATH AND GRASPED DIFFERENT COMPONENTS OF THE SUSPENSION AND DRIVE TRAIN AND PUSHED AND PULLED ON THEM EXPECTING TO FIND SOMETHING LOOSE. I DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND I HEARD A VERY LOUD BOOM! I PULLED OVER AND AGAIN LOOKED AT THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK AND FOUND THAT THE MOUNT THAT HOLDS THE REAR LEAF SPRING TO THE FRAME BODY HAD BROKEN RATHER VIOLENTLY AND SENT THE END OF THE SPRING WITH HALF OF THE MOUNT THRU THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK BED. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL BODY/ FRAME SHOP AND THE OWNER TOLD ME THAT HE HAS BEEN SEEING ALOT OF THESE LATELY AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. AFTER INSPECTION HE FOUND THE OTHER SIDE WAS EQUALLY RUSTED AND READY TO LET GO, WHICH CONCERNED ME SINCE THAT IS THE SIDE WITH THE GAS TANK ON IT. IN HIS EXPERT OPINION HE BELIEVES THAT FORD HAD UNDERBUILT THE LEAF SPRING MOUNTS AND THAT IS WHY THEY ARE BEGINING TO FAIL ON TRUCKS THAT ARE AROUND THE AGE OF MINE. THE FRAME IS SAFE AND SOLID ENOUGH BUT THE MOUNTS FOR PARTS OF THE SUSPENSION APPEAR NOT TO BE. I AM FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT TOWING MY BOAT, OR THAT THE BED WAS NOT LOADED AND I WAS NOT DRIVING MORE THAN 35 MPH WHEN THE MOUNT LET GO. I DON'T KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. THE REPAIR COST $659 AND IN MY OPINION IT IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED CONSIDERING THE AGE, CONDITION AND THE LOW MILES I HAVE ON THE TRUCK. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE SEAL ON THE WINDSHIELD CAUSED THE DEFECT TO OCCUR. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT EVEN IF HE REPLACED THE SEAL IT WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD STOP THE LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER DIDN'T OFFER THE CONTACT ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR COST. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F150 WHICH WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2002. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH HE HEARD A DINGING NOISE IN THE VEHICLE. HE ASSUMED THAT IT WAS HIS SEAT BELT WARNING ALARM; HOWEVER, HE WAS UTILIZING THE SEAT BELT. LATER THAT EVENING, HE SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE HEATING ELEMENT CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE FUSE AND THE RELAY. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, HE FOUND THAT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS LEAKING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE ONTO THE FUSE PANEL. This F 150 has experienced SUA. I have reported it back in June. I have tried to fix the problem but I cannot. I don't know what causes my truck to accelerate full throttle. So, I've come to the conclusion I must move on. Then I realized I really cannot sell the vehicle? Somebody would be killed no doubt. I've been lucky and savvy enough to slide the shifter into neutral. If I sell the truck and do not mention the problem? The thing is I could sell this truck in 5 minutes. It runs like a top spins. I have always taken care of any maintenance issues since purchasing new. I've educated myself on SUA. It's extremely interesting but if you've experienced it, it is awful. I read one story about a guy who wanted a Toyota dealership to take his Camry back. It was practically new. They would not. So he went to another dealership and traded it in. I can't blame the guy but I can not sell my truck and sleep at night. So what do I do with a truck that roars off like a rocket ship? How many people have had this problem? And what do they do with the car/truck once they realize it really cannot be driven anymore?

SUA sudden unwanted acceleration, at least 4 times. No floor mats. 1st time truck surged back and forth a little then accelerated full throttle. I went to neutral. I kicked gas pedal although gas peddle was not depressed. It stopped. I was shook up but in control. I decided to remove throttle body and clean extensively. Replaced TB Sensor w/ genuine Ford part and replaced throttle valve on top. Hoped for the best. Still have the problem. 2002 F 150 XL 4.2 purchased new. I still have truck because its been such a great truck, I never felt like it was time to move on. It runs like new and I've taken care of it. I am writing this info for safety and only safety. I've been researching this issue. trying to solve problem. I took truck to qualified shop where mechanic is known to me and he was a little stumped. No codes, no check engine light. Can't solve the puzzle? So, I'm on top of the possibility of it happening. I really don't go anywhere w/ truck, to the store and back pretty much. So when its happens, I'm fast to go to neutral. I also feel like if I wanted to show somebody what I'm talking about, all they have to do is get in. I'm almost positive if I punch the gas peddle just a little, say to pass a slow driver, it'll go like hell. I have started thinking about my next truck. But no way I'm trading or selling this truck and passing the problem to someone else. So, I'm dealing with it and really hope my experience helps. I've read the story's on line. I was driving my truck and it began vibrating; shortly thereafter it was running as if half the engine was working , with a loss of power. I pulled the fuel filter and there was trash all in the filter. I bought another filter and replaced it and ran the truck again and it was working fine. Shortly thereafter the same thing happened again, loss of power, running like half the engine was working and then stalled. After a few minutes it started up but ran terrible. I got it home. I pulled the fuel filter and it was loaded with trash again. I called the Ford dealer and spoke to a mechanic and he advised he has fixed numerous trucks like mine and the gas tank was deteriorating from the inside and clogging my fuel filter. He said there is a recall for the truck and that the fuel tank needs to be replaced. Please help me as this truck only has 75,000 miles and is like brand new, garage kept and well taken care of. Thank you for your time in this matter and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

MY 2002 F150 TRUCK DROPPED THE FUEL TANK ON 5/26/2017. MIRACULOUSLY, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WEREN'T KILLED. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE USING THE TRUCK, HELPING A FRIEND MOVE. LUCKILY, THEY JUST LEFT MCDONALDS RESTAURANT WHEN IT BROKE. THEY WERE ON A SIDE STREET AND WERE FORCED TO STAY WHERE THEY WERE. THE EASTPOINT FIRE-DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED ON SCENE DUE TO GASOLINE LEAKING OUT OF THE TANK INTO THE STREET. THEY STAYED WITH THE VEHICLE UNTIL AAA WAS CALLED. THEY TOWED THE TRUCK ON A FLATBED TRUCK AND DELIVERED IT TO MY GUYS AUTO REPAIR, GRATIOT, ROSEVILLE, MI. MY TRUCK HAD A RECALL ON IT FOR SAFETY STRAPS, WHICH WERE THE CAUSE BY BREAKING. I TRIED TO GET IT FIXED AT DORIAN FORD, CLINTON TWP.,MI. 2 YEARS PRIOR, BUT WAS GIVEN A 'RUNAROUND' BY DORIAN FORD, TELLING ME TO BRING IT IN FOR REPAIR IN 2 MONTHS TIME. I FORGOT WHEN THE 2 MONTHS WERE UP AND DORIAN FORD DIDN'T TRY TO CONTACT ME. I AM FORCED NOW TO PAY OVER 1500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR MY TRUCK, WHICH I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and suggested to the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE (PURCHASED IN 5-13-2014) BFG 275/60R17 FROM DISCOUNT TIRES. TRUCK WAS TOTALED AND THE ONE PIECE OF TIRE WE HAVE DOES NOT HAVE THE DOT NUMBERS ON THEM. WHEN THE BLOW OUT OCCURRED I HIT SOFT SAND LOSING TRACTION CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ROLL 3 TIMES WHILE ON A MAIN ROAD. I WILL BE INCLUDING THREE PICTURES - ONE OF THE TIRE ON ITS RIM, ONE OF THE TRUCK AT THE TOW YARD AND ONE OF THE PIECE OF TIRE WE PICKED UP OFF THE ROAD UPON MY RELEASE FROM THE HOSPITAL. THE CHP OFFICER DID NOT SPEAK TO ANY WITNESSES AND I HEARD THE LADY WHO CALLED 911 TELL THE OFFICER I SUFFERED A BLOW OUT AND SHE POINTED IT OUT TO HIM - YET HE DOES NOT EVEN MENTION IT IN THE REPORT NOR THE NAMES OF ANY WITNESSES. MY INSURANCE COMPANY (AAA) CLAIMS UNLESS I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE TIRE MANUFACTURER THEY WILL FIND ME AT FAULT FOR NOT MAINTAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHICH I FIND TO BE TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. I HANDLED A BLOW OUT IN A FORD EXPLORER ON A DRY FREEWAY PREVIOUSLY AND WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT ANY SERIOUS DAMAGE OR INJURIES. DIFFERENT STORY WHEN YOU HIT SAND. MY 2002 FORD EXPLORER, AT APPROX. 62,000 MILES WAS MAKING A LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR WHEELS WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS. I TOOK IT TO A GOODYEAR SERVICE CENTER & WAS TOLD THEY'VE SERVICED AT LEAST 6-7 OF THE 2002 EXPLORERS FOR THE SAME ISSUE- SOME WITH ONLY 30,000 MILES. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS POOR DESIGN ON FORD'S PART OF THE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY? IT COST ME OVER $300 TO FIX THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY- THEY HAD TO REPLACE A ROTOR IN THE PROCESS BECAUSE WATER GOT IN WHERE THE SEAL BROKE AND RUSTED TO THE ROTOR AND HAD TO BE CUT OFF. THEY SAID THE SEAL IS BAD ON THE ASSEMBLY AND THE WHOLE WHEEL ASSEMBLY COMES APART. THEY SAVED PARTS TO SHOW ME & SAID IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE (REAR WHEEL COULD COME OFF). I'M VERY ANGRY- I'M NOW HEARING THE SAME HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL. I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE, YET FORD HAS NOT HAD A RECALL?!? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO MY CAR WITH MY DAUGHTER INSIDE, FORD WILL HAVE A HUGE LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS. I HAVE BEEN VERY DISSATISFIED WITH MY FORD EXPLORER. I HAVE HAD THE 02' F150 SINCE DECEMBER 07' AND HAVE HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSHIELD LEAKING. I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH IN THE 97' TO 03' F150 MODELS VIA FORD FORUMS AND OTHER INTERNET SITES AS WELL AS THE LOCAL FORD DEALER REPAIR SHOP WHO WORKED ON MY TRUCK. THIS LEAK SHORTS OUT THE FUSE PANEL IN THE CAB THAT CAUSES THE LOSS OF POWER TO EQUIPMENT INCLUDING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE LEAK ALSO TENDS TO SHORT OUT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAUSING THE COMPUTER TO BE UNABLE TO READ WHAT GEAR THE TRUCK IS IN. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO NOT START AND EVEN SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING WHICH AGAIN IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING IN ANY CONDITION. I HAVE HAD THE 02' F150 JUST OVER ONE YEAR AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSHIELD LEAKING INTO THE CAB. I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 97' TO 03' F150 MODEL VIA FORD FORUMS AND OTHER INTERNET GROUPS. THIS LEAK SHORTS OUT THE FUSE PANEL CAUSING THE LOSS IN POWER IN VARIOUS EQUIPMENT INCLUDING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THIS SHORT HAS ALSO CAUSED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO FAIL CAUSING THE COMPUTER TO NOT READ WHAT GEAR THE TRUCK IS IN WHICH HAS CAUSED THE TRUCK NOT TO START OR STOP RUNNING WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN OPERATION. THE ONLY WAY THE FIX THE PROBLEM IS TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REMOVED AND RESEALED AS WELL AS REPLACING THE FUSE PANEL REPLACED. OTHERS AS WELL AS I HAVE HAD TO HAVE OTHER REPAIRS MADE DUE TO THE LEAK INCLUDING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, STARTER, RELAY, ALTERNATOR, AND THE IGNITION SENSOR. I HAVE HAD TO MAKE THESE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET AS NO MANUFACTURE RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED, ONLY A SPECIAL SERVICE BULLETIN. VEHICLE DASH LIGHTS WOULD STAY ON WHEN VEHICLE OFF. DOOR LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES WHILE DRIVING. AND WHILE THE TRUCK WAS OFF. VEHICLE WOULD BE COMPLETELY DEAD WHEN GO TO START. AFTER REPLACING WITH A NEW BATTERY, TRUCK WOULD NOT START. HAD A TOW TRUCK COME AND WHEN HE TRIED TO START IT, IT STARTED RIGHT UP. AFTER HE SHUT OFF, IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD WOULD NOT START. TOOK TRUCK TO GARAGE. IT TOOK MECHANICS 5 HOURS TO FIND THE PROBLEM. AFTER CHECKING ALL THE RELAYS AND FUSE BOXES, ETC. IT ENDED UP TO BE THE FUSEBOX UNDER THE DASH. THE FUSEBOX WAS CORRODED AND DETERIORATING DUE TO WATER DAMAGE, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF LEAK FROM THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING WATER TO ENTER THE FUSEBOX. THUS CAUSING THE FUSEBOX DAMAGE. THE MECHANICS REPLACED THE FUSEBOX AND A RELAY. I DO HAVE THE OLD ONE THAT WAS DAMAGED. HE SAID THE WINDSHIELD NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OUT TO BE RESEALED ON REINSTALLING. WHICH NEEDS TO BE DONE YET. HE SAID I WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING OR SHORTING WHICH COULD LEAD TO A FIRE PROBLEM. *TR

I RECEIVE STORM DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE. DURING THE PROCESS OF REPAIRING THE VEHICLE WE SUSTAIN INJURIES FROM THE WINDSHIELD FIBERS AND GLASS, IN THE VENTS WHICH THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT THE GLASS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE. THE LIFTGATE MOLDING DEVELOPED A CRACK SEVERAL INCHES LONG AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR 2 1/2 YEARS WITH ROUGHLY 55,000 MILES. A RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED DEALING WITH THE LIFT GATE WINDOW,BUT, THE RECALL DIDN'T INCLUDE THE CRACKED MOLDING. I HAVE NOTICED MANY EXPLORERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK COMPLETED, BUT MY FORD DEALERSHIP WAS NOT WILLING TO FIX THE LIFT GATE UNTIL I AGREED TO HAVE THEM PERFORM OTHER VEHICLE MAINTENANCE TO THE TUNE OF OVER $400. I FEEL THIS IS MORE OF A FORM OF BLACKMAIL THAN KINDNESS. I FEEL THIS LIFT GATE IS A FAULTY PRODUCT AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO PAY THE "EXTRA" MONEY TO HAVE THE GATE MOLDING FIXED. I DO BELIEVE THE RECALL ON THE LIFT GATE WINDOW AND THE FAULTY MOLDING ARE CONNECTED. TRUCK WAS PURCHASED AS USED IN OCT, 2016, SO WE HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF PREVIOUS DRIVER'S HABITS OR PROBLEMS. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO WORK FINE. PRIMARY DRIVER IS 5 FEET TALL AND MOVED THE STEERING WHEEL DOWN TO MAKE A MORE COMFORTABLE DRIVING POSITION. LATE DEC, 2016, EARLY JAN, 2017 WHILE PARKED, WE DISCOVERED THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND ONE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT NO LONGER WORKED..THE HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT WAS A BAD BULB, BUT WHEN A CHECK OF FUSES AND BULBS FOR THE OTHER LIGHTS WERE FOUND TO BE OK, WE DECIDED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS BAD. WRONG ! MORE RESEARCH POINTED THE PROBLEM TO THE MULTI FUNCTION/COMBINATION SWITCH OR ITS CONNECTIONS, ACTUAL PROBLEM WAS THE CONNECTIONS ON THE MFS. NUMEROUS REFERRALS TO THIS PROBLEM FOR MANY FORD YEAR MODELS ARE POSTED ON THE INTERNET AS WELL AS SEVERAL VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE.COM. INSPECTION REVEALED THAT SEVERAL WIRES GOING TO THE MFS HAD PULLED OUT OF THE CONNECTOR WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOWERED. CONNECTOR WAS DAMAGED BY THIS ACTION. WIRE CABLE GOING TO THE MFS IS FIXED SOLID TO THE STEERING COLUMN, AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SLACK IN THE WIRES TO ALLOW THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE LOWERED ALL THE WAY WITHOUT CAUSING THE PULLED WIRES AND DAMAGED CONNECTOR. PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AT OWNERS EXPENSE SINCE THE TRUCK WAS HAZARDOUS, UNSAFE, AND ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS AND PARTIAL TURN SIGNALS. DRIVING WITHOUT THESE LIGHTS, ESPECIALLY IN NE OHIO IN THE WINTER SNOW STORMS - I DON'T THINK SO !! COST OF REPAIRS:SEE FORWARDED INVOICE. IT APPEARS THE PROBLEM WAS BUILT INTO THE TRUCK FROM THE BEGINNING AND FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS AS WELL AS RECALLING ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE REPLACEMENT FORD CABLE PART XL1Z-14A320-AA COMES WITH LONGER LEADS TO AVOID THE PROBLEM, SO FORD IS CERTAINLY AWARE OF THIS FAILURE BUT HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT !!

ON APRIL 17, I NOTICED A WHISTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE, BUT COULD NOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE SOUND, AND THOUGHT IT WAS A VACUUM LINE LEAK. I STARTED THE TRUCK ON THE MORNING OF APRIL 14 AND I HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND FOLLOWED BY A SMALL BLACK CLOUD, UPON EXAMINING UNDER THE HOOD, I FOUND THE #3 SPARK PLUG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE HOLE AND THE COIL HAD BEEN BLOWN OFF WITH IT, BREAKING THE PLASTIC THAT HAD A STEEL INSERT THAT WAS SCREWED DOWN TO THE BLOCK. I TRIED TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUG, BUT COULD NOT GET IT STARTED IN TO THE THREADS ON THE HEAD. I FOUND OUT THAT O'REILY'S SELLS A CYLINDER HEAD REPAIR KIT # 42025 SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS PROBLEM, IT HAD A INSERT THAT YOU SCREWED INTO THE HEAD AND IT WAS THREADED ON THE INSIDE TO ACCEPT A EXTENDED LENGTH SPARK PLUG THAT WAS INCLUDED IN THE KIT, I TRIED THIS KIT @ $64 DOLLARS PLUS THE NEW COIL @ $43, UPON COMPLETING THE WORK WITH THE KIT AND THE NEW COIL INSTALLED, I STARTED THE TRUCK AND STILL HAD THE SAME WHISTLING PROBLEM AND WAS LOSING COMPRESSION, I CONTACTED A LOCAL MECHANIC, AND FOUND OUT FROM HIM THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND HE SEE THIS SAME PROBLEM ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS OR SO, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO HIM AND HE WORKED ON IT FOR APPROX. 6 HOURS AND HAS THE PROBLEM FIXED, HOWEVER, HE SAID HE COULDN'T PROMISE THAT THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN, TO THE SAME PLUG OR OTHERS. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH ON LEVEL SURFACE THE #5 SPARK PLUG WAS EJECTED FROM IT'S HOLE DAMAGING THE COIL OVER PLUG CAUSING ARCING FROM THE COIL TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DRAMATICALLY AND THE SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS APPARENT. LUCKILY THERE WAS VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUTDOWN THE ENGINE. I IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AND HAVING SOME MECHANICAL TRAINING KNEW ENOUGH TO DISCONNECT THE FUEL INJECTOR WIRE FOR THE #5 CYLINDER. THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY I COULD SAFELY MOVE THE VEHICLE. I AM REPORTING THIS INCIDENT AS THE PERSON WHO'S CAR WAS AFFECTED BY THE FIRE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN EXPLOSION OCCURRED UNDER THE HOOD AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD LIABILITY COVERAGE; THEREFORE, THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. ON MARCH 22, 2014, THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN A LOCAL PARKING LOT, THE IGNITION KEY WAS REMOVED AND THE TRUCK WAS LOCKED. THE DRIVER RETURNED TO THE TRUCK TO FIND THAT WHILE IT WAS PARKED, A FIRE HAD BEGUN IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE TRUCK, AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE ON THE SCENE PUTTING OUT THE FIRE. BECAUSE OF THE QUICK ACTIONS OF AN INDIVIDUAL PARKED NEARBY WHO USED A FIRE HOSE TO CONTAIN THE FIRE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, THE CABIN AND THE BODY OF THE TRUCK WERE SPARED, AND THE DAMAGE WAS LOCALIZED TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH.

ONE GAS TANK STRAP WAS FOUND TO BE RUSTED AND THE TANK AT AN ANGLE. IT WAS INSPECTED BY A LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHO FOUND THAT THE GAS TANK WAS ALSO RUSTED AND LEAKING. THE GAS TANK AND STRAPS WERE REPLACED. BECAUSE THE MODEL YEAR WAS NOT IN THE DATE RANGE OF THE RECENT RECALL, WE HAD TO PAY $793. A POWER STEERING PUMP WAS ALSO LEAKING AND REPLACED. THE GAS TANK WAS THE MAJOR ITEM OF CONCERN.

I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER TO INQUIRE AS TO THE PRICE OF REPLACING AN EXHAUST GASKET AS THIS IS WHAT THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE. THE SERVICE ADVISER AFTER HEARING THE MAKE MODEL AND SIZE ENGINE AND YEAR OF THE TRUCK SAID, "NO YOU DID NOT BLOW THE EXHAUST GASKET, YOU BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE HEAD". I WAS ASTOUNDED AS TO HOW HE COULD MAKE A DIAGNOSIS OF THIS TYPE AS I HAD NEVER EVEN HEARD OF SUCH AN OCCURRENCE. THE COST WOULD BE A MINIMUM OF $850.00. A HARNESS WAS INSTALLED, BUT IT DID NOT REMEDY THE HARNESS AND VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH FAILURES BECAUSE THERE WAS NO LEAK AT THE TIME. CURRENTLY, BRAKE FLUID IS LEAKING AROUND THE SWITCH FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH, BUT THE CONTACT DISAGREES. 2002 FORD F-150 TRAVELING WEST ON HIGHWAY 40 IN ARIZONA. RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED ON THE CRUISE CONTROL INITIAL FAILURE CRUISE CONTROL ON. ENGAGED MAINTAIN SPEED BUTTON VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING. PUNCHED ALL OF THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS AND TAPPED THE BRAKES CRUISE CONTROL TURNED OFF. CONFIRMATION TURNED CRUISE CONTROL ON AND HIT MAINTAIN SPEED BUTTON. VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING AS BEFORE. HIT ALL OF THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS AND TAPPED THE BRAKE. AT 85 MPH, I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. IMMEDIATELY TURNED IGNITION ON. Unknown cause of incident. Vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle spontaneously burst into flames. No reproduction due to incident happening on 09/02/2022. Vehicle inspected by Fire Department and California Highway Patrol. No warnings or symptoms leading up to incident. On 09/02/2022 I attempted to help my wife that was stranded out State Route Highway 36 in her 2009 BMW 750 LI at the Van Duzen Grange. I had been hooked up to her car for approximately 10 to 15 minutes with my truck idling when she screamed, " Your truck's on FIRE!" I barely got myself out of the cab when a ball of flames shot through the dashboard. 3/4ths of the truck was consumed in fire in less than 5 minutes. Fire Department arrived approximately 10 minutes later and doused the fire. Everything in my truck was destroyed. My wife's BMW suffered severe damage to the front end.

EVEN THE HOSE WHERE U FUEL U TRUCK UP AT HAD BEEN DAMAGETTING WHEN WE CONTINUED TO EXAMINE THE TIRE IT WASN'T BLOWN AND IT'S STILL HOLDING AIR. ON 06/25/2014 I WAS DRIVING MY 2002 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY 7.3 LITRE DIESEL SOUTH ON RT. 81 IN SYRACUSE NY. AT EXIT 81 AND IN CONGESTED TRAFFIC WHEN I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON BUT WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE INTENDING TO GO SOUTH ON 81 WITH A BARRIER ON MY LEFT AND NO SHOULDER TO ESCAPE TRAFFIC. I SIGNALED AND DRIFTED OVER TO THE RIGHT AND ENDED UP STOPPING IN AN AREA BETWEEN THE RT 81 LANE AND AN EXIT RAMP. WHILE DOING THIS I HAD SLOWED CONSIDERABLY AS THE TRUCK HAD NO POWER AND CARS AND TRUCKS BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE AND BRAKE ABRUPTLY TO AVOID STRIKING ME. I ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE TRUCK TO TRY TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION BUT TRAFFIC WAS TRAVELING WITHIN A FOOT OR TWO OF THE TRUCK. I CONTACTED AAA AND HAD TO WAIT IN THIS VERY HAZARDOUS POSITION FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES FOR A TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. I HAD TO BE TOWED ALMOST 200 MILES TO MY HOME AFTER MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM HE STATED THAT IT WAS ONE OF OR POSSIBLY TWO SENSORS THAT HAD FAILED. THESE SENSORS CONTROLLED THE FUEL AND AIR FLOW TO THE ENGINE AND WHEN THEY FAILED IT REFUSED TO ALLOW THE ENGINE TO ACCELERATE NOT ALLOWING ME TO MOVE THE TRUCK. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO DESIGN A SENSOR THAT PROVIDES A WARNING OR A MEANS TO OVERRIDE THE SYSTEM IN ORDER FOR A DRIVER TO MAKE IT TO A POINT OF SAFETY. THIS SITUATION MIMICKED THE SAME SITUATION CAUSED BY GM CARS HAVING THEIR IGNITION SHUT OFF CAUSING DEATH AND SERIOUS INJURIES. FRONT BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BRACKET SEIZED ON THE SLIDE BOLTS THAT ALLOW THE BRAKES TO MOVE IN AND OUT WHEN PRESSED AND RELEASED. THE SLIDE BOLTS THAT ALLOW THE CALIPER TO MOVE HAVE SEIZED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO PULL VERY HARD TO ONE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IN MY CASE I WAS TOWING A 20' COMMERCIAL LANDSCAPE TRAILER EQUIPPED WITH DUAL AXLE TRAILER BRAKES. I APPROACHED A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN GOING A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 MPH WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE DURING THE TURN THE TRUCK PULLED EXTREMELY HARD TO THE LEFT RESULTING IN MY TRAILER JACK KNIFING INTO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRUCK CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO MY BED AND REAR WHEEL ON MY TRUCK. LATER AFTER INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE OF THE SUDDEN PULL FOUND THAT THE LEFT BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BRACKET HAD ONE OF THE BOLTS SEIZED WHILE THE OTHER WAS MOVING PROPERLY ALLOWING THE BRAKE TO MOVE A LITTLE BUT NOT PROPERLY CAUSING THE BRAKE TO DRAG AGAINST THE ROTOR ON THE INNER BRAKE PAD. WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED THE PRESSURE PULLS THE TRUCK TO THE LEFT EXTREMELY HARD. REPLACING THE SLIDE BOLTS AND THE BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BRACKET FIXED THIS ISSUE AND I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUES AFTER REPLACEMENT. I KNOW THIS MAY BE A LITTLE HARD TO UNDERSTAND AS MY DESCRIPTION MAY NOT BE THE BEST, BUT THE UPPER BRAKE CALIPER BOLT WAS SEIZED WHILE THE LOWER BOLT WAS MOVING FREELY, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDDLE WAS PRESSED CAUSED THE LEFT BRAKE CALIPER TO GRAB HARDER THAN THE RIGHT SIDE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO PULL EXTREMELY HARD TO THE LEFT. THE TRAILER BRAKE WAS SET ON 7 AT THE TIME AND WORKED PROPERLY. ON 11/1/08 I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD LOUD POP FROM MY ENGINE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I SAW THAT THE SPARK PLUG IN THE SEVENTH CYLINDER OF MY 2002 F150 5.4 TRITON HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE HEAD AND BROKE THE COIL. THIS WAS PRECEDED BY A TICKING NOISE THAT ALMOST SOUNDED LIKE A EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK. I PERSONALLY CHANGED MY PLUGS AT 100,000 MILES AND THE TRUCK CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 125,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES, BOTH BACK DOOR WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN OFF TRACK AND WON'T STAY UP. THIS HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER OF 07 AND A FEW MONTHS LATER THE SECOND REAR WINDOW DID THE SAME. I HAVE TO USE CLEAR PACKAGING TAPE TO HOLD THEM UP. THE KEY TO THE IGNITION WILL NOT TURN UNLESS I USE SOMETHING WITH A HARD END AND TAP IT SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE IGNITION PROBLEM FIRST HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006 I CALLED FORD ROAD SIDE SERVICE AND THEY RECOMMENDED TAPPING THE KEY SEVERAL TIMES AND SAID THEY HAD A GROWING COMPLAINT OF THIS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F150 HARLEY DAVIDSON. ON JANUARY 3, 2008, A SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT. ON MAY 31, 2008, WHILE AT A CAR WASH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SAME SPARK PLUG FROM THE SOLENOID HAD BLOWN AGAIN, WHICH ALSO BLEW THE ENGINE HEAD. THE REPAIR IS EXPECTED TO COST BETWEEN $2,200, AND $5,000. ALSO, IN DECEMBER OF 2007, THE SUNROOF MOTOR SHORTED AND NO LONGER WORKS. FORD COSTUMER CARE CALLED ME AND AFTER LETTING ME TELL MY STORY SAID THERE WAS NO PROGRAM DOLLARS AVAILABLE FOR ASSISTING IN FIXING EITHER PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THE REAR END PROBLEM WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS VISIT AT 74,400 MILES PER THE DEALERS RECOMMENDATION. ALSO INFORMED ME THAT NOT EVEN THE $500 WAS AVAILABLE ,AND THE OPERATOR HAD NO RIGHT TO OFFER THAT AMOUNT. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 15 MPH AND LOST CONTROL DUE TO A CODDER PIN SNAPPING IN HALF CAUSING THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL TO COME ENTIRELY OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE DISK BRAKE STAYED CONNECTED TO THE RIM AND WAS ALSO REMOVED ENTIRELY FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE BRAKE LINES TO BE SEVERED WHICH CAUSED NO PRESSURE. WITH NO PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE LINES I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE OTHER WHEELS BUT WAS FORCED TO LET THE VEHICLE COME TO A SKIDDING STOP, WHICH HAPPENED BY HITTING A TREE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE A YEAR PRIOR THEY HAD WORKED ON THE SAME WHEEL TO PACK THE BEARINGS AND DO OTHER SMALL MAINTENANCE. I PURCHASED 4 NEW GOODYEAR FORTERA TIRES 8/2004 AND HAD FREEWAY BLOW OUTS ON 3 OF THE 4 TIRES WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON EACH TIRE. BLOW OUTS OCCURED 2 IN MAY AND 1 IN JUNE. I REPLACED THE FIRST 2 AGAIN WITH FORTERA TIRES, BUT AFTER BLOW #3 I REQUESTED THAT GOODYEAR PRORATE ALL TIRES SO I COULD REPLACE WITH ANOTHER BRAND BUT THEY REFUSED. GIVEN THIS EXPERIENCE I BELIEVE THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE TESTED AND POSSIBLY RECALLED. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETECT WHY THE TIRES FAILED DUE TO DAMAGE FROM FREEWAY BLOW OUTS AND HAVING TO DRIVE OFF OF THE FREEWAY BEFORE STOPPING.

I PURCHASED MY 2002 FORD F150 SUPER CREW IN AUGUST OF 2002. I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND HAVE HAD NO RESPONSES OR ASSISTANCE FROM ANY FORD DEALERSHIPS. THE PROBLEMS STARTED OUT WITH MY RADIO GOING ON AND OFF ALL ON ITS OWN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 10 TIMES ALONE FOR THIS PROBLEM. NEVER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE PROBLEMS ESCALATED AROUND 40,000 MILES AND MY WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMED TO BE SHORTING OUT. I HAVE HAD FIRE UNDER THE DASH, THE HEADLIGHTS NOT WORK, THE WIPERS WOULD ONLY WORK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, SAME THING WITH THE HEATER, IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF AFTER YOU SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. NOW THIS WEEK I HAD ANOTHER FIRE WHICH I WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT ON MY OWN. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM WITH THE GEM MODULE AND CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX. APPARENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PUT TOGETHER CORRECTLY AND THESE MODULES KEEP SHORTING OUT CAUSING MY VEHICLES PROBLEMS. I HAVE TO WONDER EVERYDAY WHETHER OR NOT MY VEHICLE IS GOING TO CATCH FIRE AND BURN UP. ON A DAILY BASIS I CAN SMELL SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH ALMOST LIKE BURNING PLASTIC OR WIRING. NONE OF THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED AND SEEM TO BE ESCALATING. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I TOLD THE PERSON ABOUT MY SEATBELT PROBLEM, AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND WOULD BE FIXED FOR FREE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG, AND THAT IT WOULD COST $125 TO FIX. ELECTRICAL: AT 306 MILES THE SOLENOIDS HAD TO BE REPLACED. UPON SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF; THE DASH BOARD WOULD STILL ILLUMINATE. ALSO, UPON SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF IT WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES. THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED WITH NO WARNING. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THE WINDSHIELD HAD A LEAK WHICH CORRODED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS STARTED AT 44000 MILES. (1) TRUCK'S BED SPREADING APART AND IGNITION/WIRING SHORTAGE (2) THE BED OF MY TRUCK HAS SPREAD APART FOR NO REASON AT ALL. I CANNOT EVEN SHUT MY TAILGATE. MY TRUCK'S BATTERY CONTINUES TO RUN DOWN. WHEN I TURN ON MY TRUCK, THE STARTER DOESN'T WANT TO STOP. A LIGHT DISPLAYS, "DOOR OPENED!" THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. THE MUSIC GOES ON AND OFF. (3) I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO GET THE BED FIXED. THEY SET ME AN APPOINTMENT. I MADE ANOTHER TRIP OVER AN HOUR ONE WAY TO GET FIXED AND THEN THEY DIDN'T FIX. MY WARRANTY HAS JUST RECENTLY RAN OUT. I AM HAVING SEVERAL PROBLEMS AND DON'T KNOW WHAT IS THE MATTER. I HAVEN'T HAD NO LUCK WITH TALKING WITH A FORD MECHANIC. THE TRUCK HAD A HEATING SYSTEM FAILURE. THE DOOR LOCATED IN THE HEATING UNIT (THAT OPENS AND CLOSES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS ADJUSTED) BECAME STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION WHICH ALLOWED ONLY COLD AIR TO ENTER THE AIR VENT. THE CONSUMER HAD TO TURN OFF THE HEAT SYSTEM TO PREVENT HYPERTHERMIA. AS A RESULT THE DEFOGGER SYSTEM COULDN'T BE USED WHICH CAUSED POOR VISIBILITY.
