The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact's husband turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start the next two days. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the knocking sound had returned, and the vehicle was shaking abnormally. While driving lost power from 70 mph to 45 mph drove it slow home Once I parked check engine light and noticed smoke coming from behind and lower part of engine after checking for heat source noticed glowing areas it was the insulation between engine and floor I had to use extinguisher in 4 areas to extinguish I disconnected battery power

The phasers and the timing chain and tensioners is failing. This is premature failure due to engineering mistakes in the design. This is a safety critical walk home failure. Failure will destroy the engine (interference engine). Complete loss of all power and lock up of engine. Mechanic said the only remedy is a rebuilt engine. A reputable engine rebuilder states in their ad on the internet that they have corrected the Ford Motor Company engineering design mistakes in the 5.4l Triton engine.

The contact stated that while performing a tire rotation, the contact discovered sidewall bulges and tread separation on both rear tires. The vehicle was taken to the tire retailer, where it was determined that the rear tires were defective and needed to be replaced. The contact replaced both rear tires. 275/65/R18 116T First purchased 4 Cooper Adventurer H/T tires mileage was currently 199201 on May/2020. Only driven for work commute of 25miles. Cooper Adv H/T brand first replacement on front tires only due to one of the tires having bulging on the side wall of the tire, was informed possible defect and then it was changed to being worn out by possible construction/bad roads. 24450 mileage at the time of replacement on Aug/2022. There was a replacement of the second front tire In between the time period and was told by a different manager it was not a defect whom seemed hostile when I mentioned the first manager mentioned the last tire had a possible bulge defect. Paid normally price no discount. Currently now have the same bulging on front driver side wall from those replacements along with a watermark lining on the wall of the tire and mileage now is just around 255120.

DURING NORMAL DRIVING NOTICED ABNORMAL BUMPING THAT APPEARED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH TIRE OR FRONT END. TOOK VEHICLE TO SHOP TO CHECK BALANCE AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT. TECH FOUND THE ABOVE DESCRIBED TIRE HAD SEPARATED AND THE STEEL BELTING WAS PROTRUDING THROUGH THE TREAD AND TOP OF SIDEWALL. TIRE WAS ABOUT TO FAIL. The contact stated that when depressing the accelerator pedal while in reverse, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, crossing a field, and crashing into a nearby building, where the vehicle came to a stop. The contact sustained neck injuries, and the front passenger sustained neck injuries as well. The contact did not seek medical attention; however, they intended to do so in the future. DURING SHIFTING ON STREETS AND HWY'S MY RPMS RAMP UP TO 3000-5000. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WHILE MAINTAINING SPEED AND THEN THE RPMS WILL RAMP UP THEN THE SPEED STEADILY DROPS WHILE MY FOOT IS STILL ON THE ACCELERATOR. TURNING THE OVERDRIVE OFF SEEMS TO HELP OCCASIONALLY. I HAVE ALSO ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE AT LIGHTS AND THE RPMS WILL RAMP UP AND LURCH FORWARD ALMOST CAUSING ME TO REAR END OTHER VEHICLES. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY FORD HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL AND ADDRESSED THIS SAFETY HAZARD. MY O/D LIGHT OCCASIONALLY FLASHES AND WHEN IN "PARK" THEN PUTTING THE GEAR IN "REVERSE" IT WOULDN'T OPERATE AND WHERE MY DIGITAL MILEAGE IS SAID "TRANS FAULT". I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, THEN BACK ON AND THE O/D WAS OFF AND WAS ABLE TO BACK UP. NONE OF MY WARNING LIGHTS HAVE COME ON AT ALL. WAS EXPERIENCING A SHUTTER SIMILAR TO THE FEELING OF A MISFIRE WHEN ACCELERATING UP A GRADE FROM LEVEL ROAD CONDITIONS. THIS SHUTTER WAS BETWEEN 1250 AND 1500 RPM. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHO ELIMINATED COIL PACK AND TORQUE CONVERTER AS THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. I HAD TAKEN ANOTHER VEHICLE I OWN TO A REPAIR SHOP I HAVE USED FOE SEVERAL YEARS FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WHEN I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE I MENTIONED THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WITH MY 2007 FORD F150 AND THEY ADVISED THAT MY PROBLEM WAS PROBABLY MISFIRE ON ONE OR MORE PLUGS. THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY HAD DEALT WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. THEY PROCEEDED TO INFORM ME THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH REPLACING THE PLUGS-THEY COULD BREAK WHEN REMOVING. IF THAT HAPPENS AND IT DID (4 PLUGS BROKE) THEN ADDITIONAL LABOR COSTS WOULD BE ADDED TO MY BILL. END RESULT A BILL FOR $600.00 TO REPLACE 8 SPARK PLUGS. ABSOLUTELY ABSURD. AS A PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE I HAVE LEARNED THAT FORD MFG THIS ENGINE FROM 2005-2007 AND WHEN THIS ISSUE BEGAN TO SURFACE THAT THEY CHANGED THE ENGINE DESIGN TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM. FORD WAS OBVIOUSLY AWARE THAT A FUTURE PROBLEM WAS GOING TO BE FACED BY THE CONSUMER. WHY SHOULD WE THE CONSUMER HAVE TO BEAR THE FULL EXPENSE TO PAY FOR THEIR FLAWED DESIGN IN THIS ENGINE. THEY SHOULD BE WILLING TO ADMIT THEIR MISTAKE BUT APPARENTLY IT IS GOING TO TAKE SOME LEGAL PRESSURE TO GET THIS DONE. IF THEY DO NOT STEP UP I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER FORD.

STEERING

After making a sharp right turn tie rod came loose from steering rod. After inspection the threads on the steering rod seem to be too small for the tie rod. The truck has been taken care of and only has 75000 miles on it. The new tie rod I installed was also loose on the steering rod. The threads were not stripped, rusty or damaged in anyway. This truck has never had any work or been damaged. I have never had front end lined up because tires have not had any wear indicating misalignment.

STEERING BINDS SO TIGHTLY WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THAT IT TAKES SIGNIFICANT FORCE TO TURN WHEEL. ONCE WHEEL GETS PAST AND FREE OF THE BINDING POSITION IT TRAVELS TOO FAR CREATING A NEED FOR A STEERING CORRECTION. I BELIEVE THAT THE TWO PIECE STEERING SHAFT AND THE TWO UNIVERSAL JOINTS ARE WORN AND CAUSING THE PROBLEM. IT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE LOST POWER STEERING, HOWEVER NOT THE CASE. AS THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS AT THE PROPER LEVEL. THERE ARE NO FLUID LEAKS, FORD HAS RECALLED EXPEDITIONS AND LINCOLNS FOR THIS ISSUE, WHY NOT THE F-150 PICKUP TRUCKS?

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT (ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES) THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AFTER ROTATING ONLY A FEW DEGREES. THIS WAS SUDDEN AND ABRUPT WITH NO PRIOR SYMPTOMS. SUBSTANTIAL FORCE WAS APPLIED IN AN ATTEMPT TO CONTINUE THE TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME FREE AND ROTATED A FEW MORE DEGREES BEFORE SEIZING AGAIN. AS BEFORE, SUBSTANTIAL PRESSURE WAS APPLIED AND I BELIEVE SOME BACK ROTATION (WIGGLING) WAS INPUT. THE STEERING FINALLY BECAME FREE AND FELT NORMAL. THIS DID NOT REPEAT AGAIN DURING THE USE OF THE VEHICLE THAT DAY. THE SEIZURE DID NOT FEEL LIKE A FAILURE OF THE STEERING ASSIST (PUMP) SYSTEM AS THE STEERING WHEEL COULD NOT BE ROTATED AS IT CAN BE IF THE STEERING PUMP ISN'T RUNNING. SOME RESEARCH FOUND REFERENCE TO BINDING OF THE U-JOINTS ON THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. EXAMINATION OF THESE JOINTS FOUND THAT THEY ARE NOT PROTECTED BY RUBBER BOOTS AND SHOWED EVIDENCE OF CORROSION. A SPRAY LUBRICANT WAS USED IN AN ATTEMPT TO PREVENT THE ISSUE FROM RECURRING. THE INABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE IS, IN MY OPINION, A SUBSTANTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. ANY NUMBER OF SCENARIOS COULD BE IMAGINED, BUT IN MY PARTICULAR CASE, HAD THE SEIZURE NOT RELEASED, I WOULD HAVE FOUND MYSELF STOPPED IN THE PATH OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH THE VEHICLE ONLY PARTIALLY TURNED.

I HAD THE PUMP, RACK AND PINION REPLACED AND THE SENSOR. AFTER ALL THIS WAS REPLACED SOME TIME LATER THE STEERING GOT TIGHT . I TOOK IT BACK THE MECHANIC THOUGHT I HAD ANOTHER PROBLEM. HE SPRAYED A LUBRICANT ON BOTH UNIVERSALS ON THE STEERING SHAFT. WHEN IT GETS TIGHT AGAIN I WILL GO AND SATURATE THESE TWO UNIVERSALS WITH A SPRAY LUBRICANT. *TR

The fuel module failed and the 5,4l Triton engine stopped running. There was no power steering or power brakes in the middle of the fast lane on the interstate. This was a safety critical walk home. The component was disposed of. The vehicle stopped in the fast lane. Possibility to be hit from behind, Ford denied my claim. There were no warnings of the failure. Galvanic corrosion.

Vehicle reports “check charging system” which has an associated TSB but no recall. My understanding is that the AC drips water on the alternator harness causing degradation and shorting of the wires. A new wiring harness as well as a drain relocation kit are required. I do not believe the customer should be responsible for this repair.

Spark plug blow out. Yes it is available for inspection. Ongoing very common issues with triton engines blowing out spark plugs making a fire hazard because fuel vapor coming out of plug hole could be ignited by coil pack. All ford dealerships are very aware of this issue and have repaired many by rethreading and installing a helicoil thread repair kit at a very high price of 800 dollars and most repairs are temporary because the aluminum is weak and very thin at the spark plug hole. Ford is very aware of this ongoing issue and denies any liability experts don’t agree with fords arguments. No warning the plugs start to blow out at around 140000 miles well after the warranty. This problem started in the 90s all triton engines are affected. As in the photo the dealers attempt to repair was unsuccessful the spark plug is tightened to deep into the head and is broken off. They said at the end of the day I need a new head. 5000 dollars.

TRUCK WOULDN'T START. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. THE PART WAS BOLTED TO THE CROSS MEMBER ON THE BACK OF THE FRAME. THE BOTTOM OF THE PART IS ALUMINUM AND THE CROSS MEMBER IS STEEL, AND THEY WERE BOLTED FLUSH TOGETHER. REPLACED THE PART AND TRUCK WORKS FINE. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THIS AND REIMBURSE ALL PARTIES WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM.01

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, she became aware that the sub frame, underneath the vehicle, was cracked. The contact stated that the frame was loose and was visible by standing in front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who confirmed that the frame was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

Yesterday I discovered that the frame of my truck is completely rusted through in at least 2 places on the passenger side. I cannot confirm these are the only areas. The passenger side appears much worse than the driver side.

I HAVE A 2007 F150 WITH 96,460 MILES. DRIVES ON PA ROADS NEVER OFF ROAD AND NO HAULING. DRIVER SIDE FRAME RAIL IS RUSTED AT A POINT IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE FORWARD MOUNTING BRACKET OF THE REAR LEAF SPRING. THE AMOUNT OF RUST IS EXTENSIVE. THE INNER WALL OF THE RAIL IS RUSTED THROUGH CREATING A HOLE APPROX. 10 INCHES LONG AND RANGING FROM THE HEIGHT OF THE RAIL TAPERING REARWARD TO ABOUT 3/4 OF AN INCH. THE BOTTOM OF THE FRAME RAIL IS ALSO RUSTED THROUGH AT A POINT WHERE IT MEETS THE SPRING'S MOUNTING BRACKET. ALTHOUGH THE METAL APPEARS SOMEWHAT INTACT THERE IS NO STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. THIS LEAVES ONLY THE UPPER PORTION AND OUTSIDE WALL OF THE FRAME RAIL INTACT BUT ALSO RUSTED. BASED ON MY OBSERVATION THIS TRUCK CANNOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY. I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY SOLUTION OTHER THAN TO REPLACE THE FRAME BUT THIS WILL BE DETERMINED BY A PROFESSIONAL IN THE NEAR FUTURE. AS TO THE CAUSE I DO NOT KNOW. I REPLACED MODULE AND TRUCK NOW RUNS FINE. I NOTICED THAT THE MOUNTING BOLTS HAVE CHANGED ALLOWING SPACE BETWEEN MODULE AND CROSS MEMBER. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS AN ISSUE AS THE PART MOUNT HAS CHANGED. THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE ON THE TRUCK FAILED AT INTERMITTENT AND ERRATIC INTERVALS, CAUSING IMMEDIATE SHUT OFF OF FUEL TO THE ENGINE. I HAVE FACTORY 20 INCH FORD WHEELS ON THIS TRUCK. THESE ARE THE 20 INCH WHEELS THAT CAME ON THE TRUCK NEW. 2007 FORD F-150. SEVERE WHEEL SHAKE WAS REPORTED. UPON INSPECTION FOUND OUTER WHEEL RIM WAS SEPARATING FROM WHEEL. DISCOVERED LARGE CRACK IN THE WELD. THIS IS THE THIRD WHEEL FROM DEFERENT TRUCKS OF SAME YEAR VINTAGE WITH THIS PROBLEM. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ARE AWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT DECLINED TO DUE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE HAVE HAD A EQUAL AMOUNT OF BOTH 2006 AND 2007 F-150'S THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON. ALL OF THESE TRUCK PERFORM DIFFERENT DUTIES, SO THE TYPE OF USE IS NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WATER WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE FROM THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ABOVE THE CABIN. AS A RESULT, THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WAS BEGINNING TO MILDEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. WHILE UNDER WARRANTY THE ROTORS BECAME WARPED. I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALER AND THEY GROUND THE ROTORS WHICH MADE THEM THINNER AND MORE VULNERABLE TO WARPING WHICH OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ROTORS. THE PADS WERE FINE INDICATING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT AN OPERATOR PROBLEM. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE ROTORS WERE NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS WITH A MORE SUBSTANTIAL ROTOR AT A COST OF $1400 AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM SINCE.

ANOTHER TIME, I WAS BEHIND THE TRUCK GUIDING SOMEONE IN THE TRUCK WHILE BACKING UP. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARPED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE FIRST TIME WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 49K MILES. THIRTY-THREE THOUSAND MILES LATER THEY ARE WARPED AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THEY WERE WARPED TOO BAD TO MACHINE THEM. THIS TIME, THE RIGHT FRONT ROTOR HAD TO BE TURNED FOUR TIMES BY THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE WARPING OUT. THE OTHERS ONLY ONE TURN. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM FOR MULTIPLE YEARS OF FORD F-150 TRUCKS. THE SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY REDESIGNED FOR MODEL YEAR 2009 AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GONE. UNFORTUNATELY, I BELIEVE THE DESIGN IS ALSO CONNECTED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL PROBLEM REPORTED ALSO TO THE NHTSA FOR THIS YEAR (2007) MODEL F-150. UNFORTUNATELY, BECAUSE IT IS CLASSIFIED AS A BRAKING PROBLEM, THE WARRANTIES (FACTORY AND EXTENDED) DO NOT COVER THE EXPENSE OF MACHINING OR REPLACING THE ROTORS. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED IN 2012 WITH 53,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK DUE TO A SIGNIFICANT KNOCKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE TRUCK WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO IT COST ME NOTHING TO REPLACE. THE ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE THE SAME SOUND IN FEB 2015 (84,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK, 30,000 MILES ON THE ENGINE). I HAD IT TAKEN TO AN AUTO MECH AND THEY TOLD ME ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS EJECTED FROM THE ENGINE AND RIPPED ALL THE THREADING OUT. THEY ALSO FOUND THAT ON E OF THE CYLINDERS BROKE OFF THE CRANK SHAFT AND CEASED. THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND THE TRUCK IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. BOTH THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP THAT REPLACED THE ENGINE AND THE AUTO MECH THAT I HAD THE TRUCK TAKEN TO, ARE RESEARCHING IF THE PARTS ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

I BOUGHT A USED FORD 2007 F-150 SUPER CREW CAB 4X4. NEW TIRES WERE PUT ON BY THE DEALER. I HAVE HAD THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS OF THE TIRE VALVE STEMS BREAKING AND CAUSING DEFLATION WHILE IN MOVEMENT. EACH TIME I HAD NEW STEMS REPLACED. I BEGAN RESEARCHING FOR MYSELF AND FOUND AN ARTICLE WHICH STATED THAT FORD HAD COMPLAINTS OF DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS ON ALMOST ALL THEIR VEHICLES INCLUDING MERCURY'S. AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS AND COMPLAINTS TO MY DEALER I WENT TO A LOCAL TIRE DISTRIBUTOR AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING ALL RUBBER VALVE STEMS WITH BRASS HIGH PRESSURE VALVE STEMS. WATER LEAKING FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD COOLANT CROSSOVER LINE. CROSSOVER IS AN ALUMINUM PIPE THAT CONNECTS TO THE PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD. WHEN MANIFOLD STARTED LEAKING COOLANT, 1 & 2 SPARK PLUG HOLES FILLED WITH WATER CAUSING SPARK PLUGS TO SHORT OUT AND STALL THE ENGINE AT LOW SPEED. PER FORD THE ONLY REPAIR IS REPLACEMENT OF THE COMPLETE INTAKE MANIFOLD AT A COST OF OVER $1200.00. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE. Transmission and rear end jerking when putting in or taking out of park, reverse or drive and now doesn't want to go forward when putting it in drive and I can't get it to shift out and transmission fault light came on and I re set it by taking black cable off battery and put transmission fluid in it and it still does it and also headlights doesn't work on bright and power steering pump makes noise and it's full of fluid I don't know if it is leaking or what small stuff I can deal with but major transmission and engine stuff on truck I can't.

The ABS CONTROL MODULE has gone out therefore there isn’t any all wheel braking control for the vehicle. I know of my vehicle and several more that have this same problem. They range from 2007 up to 2012. With this problem also they will not pass State Emissions Inspection. I just inherited my vehicle. I was the owner of a repair shop and had several pickups with this very problem. This repair cost from Ford is over $1,000.00. This seems to be a recurring failure with the brake system.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled with the power steering and braking functions inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that after retrieving the vehicle, he became aware that the fuel module was defective. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle also experienced a premature timing belt failure. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be repaired or replaced. The engine was not repaired or replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 108,000. The consumer stated the fuel module and timing chain/phasers fail without warning.

I WENT TO HAVE MY BRAKES REPLACED ON MY F-150 WITH 54,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE FRAME WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND THAT HE WAS ABLE TO PUT A SCREWDRIVER THROUGH IT. HE DIDN'T WANT TO INSTALL THE BRAKES. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE NEW AND IT HAS (MOSTLY) BEEN GARAGED THROUGHOUT. THE BODY PANELS, INTERIOR , TRANSMISSION, ENGINE, ETC. ARE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM REPORTED BY MANY OTHERS, SO I'M NOT SURE WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A FORD RECALL ON THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. BOUGHT THE T07 F150 AT 28K AND AT 61K THIS HAPPENED. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW GEAR 2ND THE ENGING CHUGGED A LITTLE ( LKE AN OLD DIESAL) TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE SMALL OIL SEAL BEHIND THE CAM. THEY WAS GOING TO CHARGE BE 5600 FOR A NEW ENGINE. THEY TRIED LIKE HE11 TO GET ME TO SAY I DIDNT HAVE THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. I NEVER BACKED DOWN, THEN REMINDED THEM THAT I HAD BOUGHT THE $2700.00 EXTENDED WARRENTY (WHICH I USUALLY NEVER DID) THEY BAUKED AND CRIED. BUY SAID THAT THEY WOULD FIND ANOTHER USED ENGINE, THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THEY FOUND ONE FOR 3500 (OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT) I BEGAN A LONG SEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND A REBUILD FOR LESS AND GAVE THEM THE INFORMATION. THEY DECIDED TO GO WITH THAT. THEY ORDERED THE ENGINE AND INSTALLED IT ( WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW THE REPLACEMENT HAD THE SAME PROB) THEY HAD TO PULL THAT ENGINE AND GET ANOTHER FROM THE COMPANY . TOOK AN EXTRA WEEK AND GOT THE TRUCK BACK ITS NOW AT 100K AND STILL RUNS WELL (SO I KNOW IT WASNT MY DRIVING) SO IT HAD TO BE THE INCORRECT PLACEMENT OF THAT SEAL FROM THE DEALER, WHICH WOULD LEAKED HOT OIL ONTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSE A FIRE. WHILE DRIVING ON A NEW YORK INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH IN A SNOW STORM, MY TRUCK STARTED TO MISS. IT THEN SLOWED DOWN AND SHUT OFF. FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE FAILED. IT IS LOCATED ABOVE THE SPARE TIRE AND DUE TO A DESIGN ERROR, WATER AND ROAD SALT GET TRAPPED BETWEEN MODULE AND MOUNTING BRACE. IT ERODES OUT FROM THE BOTTOM SIDE AND THE MOUNTING BRACKET. WHEN REPLACED, WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS A REDESIGNED COMPONENT, LIFTING IT AWAY FROM MOUNTING BRACKET. AFTER REPLACING THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS DURING 8/07/10 - 8/10/10 TO TRY AND ALLEVIATE A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELING PAST THE ACCELERATOR WHEN BRAKING (NORMAL BRAKING), I HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I CANNOT ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK WHO IS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FROM 8/11/10 THROUGH 8/25/10 WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER DRIVING IT EVERY DAY TO AND FROM WORK TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM COULD BE REPLICATED. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING PAST THE ACCELERATOR WITH NORMAL BRAKING; HOWEVER, DID NOT HAPPEN EVERYTIME. I AGREED WITH THAT. AFTER THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM, THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE SAID THERE IS NOT A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALERSHIP THAT FORD DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM AND THEY COULD NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE FOR ME. IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM, AS I DROVE SEVERAL 2007 AND 2008 F-150'S THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD ON THE LOT. EACH ONE OF THEM HAD THE PROBLEM I NOTED ABOVE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING ICON. 2007 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES TO EXPRESS DISSATISFACTION WITH LOCAL DEALER *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, HE IMMEDIATELY COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER ABOUT NOT BEEN ABLE TO READ ONE GAUGE DURING DAYLIGHT BECAUSE OF THE COLOR ARRANGEMENT. AT SLOW SPEEDS, 5 TO 10 MPH, AND WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO BRAKE FOR A STOP, THE ENGINE CAN REV TO 1750 TO 2000 RPM, PROHIBITING YOUR STOP, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. A HARD BRAKING ACTION IS NECESSARY OR SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL IS REQUIRED. AFTER DISCUSSING THIS COMPLAINT WITH ANOTHER FORD TRUCK OWN, WE'D DECIDED THAT OUR RIGHT FOOT WAS NOT ONLY ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT ALSO THE GAS PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY. BOTH ARE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF EACH OTHER, WHICH PROVIDES FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY. I'D SUGGEST A DESIGN CHANGE, TOWARD FORD, SEPARATING THE TWO PEDALS SLIGHTLY IN A BETTER ATTEMPT TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING. THIS EVENT HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 FORD F150 STX MODEL WITH THE 4.6L V8. IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS TWICE THE #3 CYLINDER HAS BLOWN A COIL PACK. THE FIRST TIME ALL I HAD TO DO WAS REPLACE THE COIL PACK. THIS MOST RECENT TIME IT ACTUALLY BLEW THE SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. I AGAIN HAD TO REPLACE THE COIL PACK BUT THIS TIME I HAD TO BUY A KIT TO REPAIR THE STRIPPED HEAD. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH OUT INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING ON A MAIN HIGH WAY BUT LUCKILY I WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT HAND LANE. HAD I NOT BEEN I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GUIDE THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY AS IT HAD NO POWER. *TR

I BOUGHT A NEW 2007 FORD F150 IN 2007. IT IS NOW 2010 WITH 44K MILES. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED IT WITH THE EMER. BRAKE, TIRES AND FRONT END POPPING, BUT TODAY WAS THE WORST! I WAS DRIVING APPROX 50 MPH TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND MY TRUCK BEGAN ACCELERATING! I STARTED BRAKING AND IT FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AS IT APPROACHED 60MPH. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PRACTICALLY STANDING ON IT USING THE STEERING WHEEL FOR LEVERAGE AND IT DID FINALLY SLOW TO ALMOST A STOP BUT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING VERY LOUD AND YOU COULD FEEL THE TRUCK PULLING FORWARD AS I HAD THE BRAKE TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO START CUTTING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO KEEP FROM HITTING A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE STOP LIGHT. I FINALLY IN PANIC MODE KEPT MY FEET ON THE BRAKE, ENGINE REVVING THE WHOLE TIME AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. IT FINALLY STOPPED AND THE ENGINE SLOWED. I WAS SCARED TO PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE. I DID HOWEVER PUT IT IN DRIVE AND SLOWLY STARTED MOVING FORWARD AS A POLICEMAN BEHIND ME BLUE LIGHTED ME TO PULL OVER. I WAS RELIEVED TO SEE HIM THINKING HE HAD WITNESSED THE EVENT AND WAS GOING TO HELP. I WAS PHYSICALLY SHAKING AND MY 7 YEAR OLD WAS CRYING VERY SCARED ASKING ME, "MOMMY WHY DID OUR TRUCK NOT STOP AND SOUND LIKE A RACE CAR?" I ASKED THE POLICEMAN DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED? HE SAID, "YES MAM I SAW YOU TRYING TO STOP BUT THAT ISN'T WHY I PULLED YOU, I CLOCKED YOU GOING 60 IN A 45 APPROACHING THE LIGHT." I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE DID SEE HOW THE TRUCK DIDN'T WANT TO STOP BUT HAD TO TICKET ME NEVER THE LESS BECAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION. I JUST GOT HOME AND STARTED LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE 148 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH NO RECALL OR EXPLANATION FROM FORD! I AM TAKING MY TRUCK TOMORROW TO THE SHOP TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND THE COMPUTER SCANNED FOR ANY ERROR CODES! WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THERE WAS AN EXCESSIVE FORCE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A PROCEEDING VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL BROKE AS A RESULT OF THE PRESSURE APPLIED TO IT. THE POLICE AND AMBULANCE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A MINOR INJURY AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES TO THE NECK AND HEAD. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY ON IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION SHOP AND REPAIRED FOR THE DAMAGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE REPAIR OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND REPLACEMENT OF THE AIR BAG SENSOR. IN ADDITION, WHEN PROCEEDING TO MAKE A SHARP TURN THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

I HAVE A 2007 FORD F150 IT HAS 14,454 MILES. I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF HAVING THE TRUCK ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO. BOTH MYSELF AND MY SISTER WAS IN THE TRUCK AT THE TIME. I STARTED THE ENGINE AND HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED IT IN TO DRIVE WHEN IT ACCELERATED FORWARD FOR NO REASON. I DID NOT THINK MUCH ABOUT IT UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. I WAS PARKED ON THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE AND STARTED TO MAKE A U-TURN WHEN THE TRUCK AGAIN ACELERATED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ALMOST CRASHING INTO MY NEIGHBORS GARAGE. SINCE WE DON'T DRIVE THE TRUCK VERY OFTEN I DID NOT TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. ON APRIL 12TH OF 2009 MY SON WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND DECIDE HE WAS NOT STRAIGHT, SO HE BACKED UP AND WHEN HE PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT ACCELERATED FORWARD INTO A BACK OF A BUILDING. WE HAD 2 WITNESS, SAYING THAT HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. NO ONE WAS HURT, ONLY DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING AND THE TRUCK. 2007 FORD F150 ON THE ROAD LESS THAN ONE WEEK WITH 1100 MILES ON IT. TRUCK WAS INVOLVED IN A MINOR COLLISION WHERE TRUCK STRUCK THE REAR BUMPER OF CAR IN FRONT OF IT.
