Coolant intrusion into the engine causing my car to missfire going down the road. Car is sitting in my yard unfit to be driven. Dealership claims it had previously been remedied. The car has only been inspected by my mechanic. No prior warnings before the misfire occurred

Engine failed. Lost all compression. Evidently this is a known problem with this engine where the head, head gasket and block fail between cylinders.

Towed too mechanic, determined cylinder #2 has coolant intrusion. Conducted the TSB. For this defect. All symptoms confirmed for the coolant intrusion. Got Quoted $10k for engine replacement. Vehicle has been parked in driveway since 10/24/25 too expensive too repair for a defective problem from ford.

My Ford Fusion has the 1.5L ecoboost engine. This engine has engineering issues that are known to Ford. My vehicle started producing white smoke from the exhaust and sluggish performance. At approximately 105,000 miles my vehicle went into limp mode due to a cracked head gasket. This was due to coolant intruding into the cylinders. Ford did a short block engine replacement and reprogrammed the PCM to try to fix the issue. At approximately 220,000 miles the vehicle started producing the same symptoms described earlier and the vehicle now requires a complete engine replacement. Ford refuses to fix this for me, even though it is well documented that this engine has engineering issues. These engines should last longer than 105,000 miles.

Vehicle is experiencing coolant intrusion from a crack in the engine block 3rd cylinder which is a known issue by Ford for my particular vehicle year (2017). Ford has issued a TSB/Recall for model years 2017-2019, I believe this issue should qualify for manufacturer recall as this is known issue.

Wrench light came on my car while driving 30mph, then the engine light. Had it diagnosed & I am told my car that went to the shop with code p0741 needs a NEW transmission!! 54, 618 miles only. Fix is $6800.00. I was told not to drive the car as it could seize up.

The Transmission in the Ford Fusion 1.5 L engine just stop working. The car will go and then the transmission would just stop working. The you could turn the car off and it would drive again and stop working again. It took me turning the car off about 12 times to get it home. This was just a test drive after my daughter had it towed home after being stranded. This is a safety issue for not only young girls being stranded, but everybody being stranded without any warning! Ford knows there is an issue, hopefully the Ford Executives are warning their love ones not to buy a Ford Fusion Model that has this issue.

In 5/2025 I had the transmission light come on my dashboard, then it went away. 2 days later I could not shift my car into drive only reverse or neutral. When I popped the hood the Shifter cable was detached and the bushing was in pieces. I purchased the ford OEM parts and replaced it. Today 10/8/25 The light appaired on my dash again. When I got home I popped the hood and the bushing was in pieces. Luckily I had purchased 2 replacement parts in May. I replaced it and it seems to be working. But I should not have to replace them this often. Today 10/8/25 I am purchasing 2 more just in case. But can we get this fixed with something more sturdy.

BUSHING FOR SHIFTER BUSTED, PERVIOUS RECALLS ON 2013-2016 MODELS, NUMEROUS REPORTS KNOWN FOR THIS HAPPENING ON 2017-2019 MODELS AS WELL. CURRENTLY HAVING VEHICLE BUSHING REPAIR AFTER CAR BEING IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A WEEK AFTER HAVING FRONT LINE BRAKE HOSES REPLACED AS WELL.
Oct 07, 2025
While changing my car from park to drive my vehicle got Stuck in reverse and wouldn’t come out even after turning car off which usually force vehicle to go into park. This was most likely due to the shifting cable bushing no longer being there and possibly disintegrating. Due to left over residue in the general area. I saw this was a recall for fords from I believe 2013/2014 up 2016 for the same issue. I go online and their are a couple of pages claiming this has happened to them as week or to check it to make sure it’s still on.

My backup camera on my 2017 ford fusion failed causing a blue screen on my infotainment screen camera is faulty and is a common issue among other vin numbers using the same part
Jan 30, 2026
In our 2017 Ford Fusion, the back up camera sometimes says "unavailable at this time" (or something close to that) when put in reverse. It is available for inspection upon request. Safety is put at risk for multiple parties - the driver/owner, individual(s)/property behind the vehicle, insurance companies, and potentially others as the total view between mirrors and the backup camera is compromised. The vehicle has not been taken to a dealership as it is out of warranty. I see where Ford has a recall on some of these, so I checked both NHTSA and Ford websites, and it says this vehicle is ineligible for repair. However, we are experiencing this problem from time to time, most recently 2 days ago when our [XXX] old was driving it. He called to let us know what the camera was doing. I believe having a safety device glitching is unnacceptable, and I would like to see Ford resolve this issue for not just my car but all of them having a KNOWN issue! The 12v battery on my 2017 Fusion Energi titanium has failed every 6-10 months since buying the car new. Each failure is at best, inconvenient and expensive, however on multiple occasion it resulted a dangerous situation that compounded, knocking out fuses for components which manage power steering and other components. It was extremely difficult to pull over safely with my two young children and we were left stranded until we had a replacement battery delivered on the freeway. Ford knows this is a problem and says that it’s because the car is designed without a alternator and then changed the warranty coverage on the batteries from 3 to 2 years because of how much money they’ve been losing on replacements with warranty tolling.
Dec 11, 2024
I purchased this vehicle in late 2017 and immediately experienced an electrical issue that de-charged the battery. It was less than two weeks after my initial purchase. Since then, I have been stranded several times, inconvenienced, and frustrated by the level of service I received at Liccardi Ford in Watchung NJ. I have replaced this battery 4 other times since the initial replacement. This is clearly an electrical defect that NO ONE at Ford wishes to acknowledge. Instead of pouring more money into this vehicle or filing a legal claim, I contact the FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS LINE (Spoke with someone name William) who failed to be considerate of my particular situation. This has been happening to me as a Ford customer for 7 years!!!!. In that time frame, I replaced the battery 5 times. That is not normal. I would to report that this is a defect and a recallable issues. Ford should have accepted this issue as a recallable defect years ago. Please see this and many other reported electrical issues with the Ford Fusion: [XXX] Any support would be greatly appreciated. The Rotary "Dial Shifter" keeps coming on while the vehicle is turned off as well as making a gear sound saying it's not in park when it is. I have had the vehicle for a month and I've had to jump the car 5 times already as it will come on and stay on. I looked it up and some fushions were recalled for it with the issue of that and the cd player and rear speakers making noise. Trying to see if another recall can be issued on more of the fusions.

I recently bought a gear shift bushing cap for the cable since the cable is loose. I bought the part at Tasca Ford in Cranston, RI. The part was hard to find. It’s the same issue as the recall for the same car b ur years prior. Cap disintegrated since its plastic and next to the engine. The most recent part I bought that was used as genuine replacement has also disintegrated. I can see the pieces of it corroded. I need to buy another one but it’s going to happen again since it’s a faulty design. The first time it happened months ago caused my car to go into park. I couldn’t move it out of the way in the street. It would let me put it in neutral. The second time it happened today the car got stuck in neutral and it took many tries to get it into park. Everything is in tact except the plastic bushing cap and part that clips the cable to the vehicle is corroded. Simple fix but unsafe and happens randomly.

The shifter cable bushing was no longer present and the shifter cable detached, causing my car to be unable to move out of park. I was actively driving the vehicle, backing it out when this happened, leaving me and my car stuck in the middle of the lane. This problem has caused a recall on earlier years of the car, making it a known issue. There were no symptoms prior to the problem, but many warning lights on the dash claiming to need repairs immediately following the incident.
Feb 25, 2024
I was driving my car one day and the power steering fault message popped up on my dash of my car. So I turned around and went home. I turned the car off and then turn the car back on. Then the power steering fault message showed up with other warning messages. So I tried turning the steering wheel and noticed there was no power steering at all. So the next day I had it towed to the Ford dealer to have them look at it and fix the issue. They ended up replacing the rack and pinion and the power steering motor. When I picked the car up I asked the service person if it was a common part that broke on the car and he said it was a common part that broke. I was surprised that they had that specific part in stock when they told me the problem. Also I was not happy that I had to $4,400.00 to fix it. In my mind if it is a common part that breaks then why hasn't been a recall on that part.

On June 23, 2025, while departing my residence, I disengaged the emergency brake on my vehicle, subsequently hearing an unusual sound. Upon attempting to drive, I experienced diminished braking performance, and the brake warning indicator illuminated. The following day, I sought a professional assessment at Big O Tires. Their diagnosis identified a failure in the left brake hose, recommending the replacement of both. Following their recommendation, I proceeded with the necessary repairs. Subsequently, I received notification of a manufacturer recall addressing this specific issue. Consequently, I am seeking reimbursement for the previously completed service. Despite my attempts to obtain a resolution through direct communication, I have yet to receive a response, and I am now seeking assistance in this matter.

When my wife returned home from shopping she parked in the driveway I was going out so I had to move her car to get to mine. I saw a puddle of brake fluid on the ground and the brake light was on there was no fluid in the master cylinder . the car was towed to my mechanic and he found a rotted brake in the rear of the car up between the gas tank and rear seat right under a rubber clamp that holds the line this could have caused a tragedy. I connected Ford they said rusted brake lines are not covered even though they are coated.

I was driving under the posted speed limit on a road near my house going to pick my kids up from school. I was approaching a stop sign at an intersection and began to press on the brake pedal. The pedal traveled all the way to the floor as I was coming yo the stop sign. A driver was approaching me from the left headed east and my car went into the street past the stop sign and the other driver hit me which in turn caused his vehicle to roll over and mine was damaged as well which turned out to be totaled. The brakes began to work again right as the gentleman hit me. I never knew about the recall and when that happened I got onto the web and out in my VIN and saw it was recalled. The airbag warning light was enabled on the dashboard. The Ford dealer diagnosed this as code "DTC U2100:00 and B00A0:62-28 stored in RCM". I was told that Ford told the dealer to reprogram the RCM with new software and this was labor "not covered by warranty or recall." But, if my car were one model year later (2018 vs 2017) it would have been covered. I argued that this is a software defect, clearly the hardware did not fail since they did not have to replace anything, but I was simply told the labor was not covered and I would need to pay for it. After the software update the error codes and airbag light are normal. There is clearly a software defect impacting the safety performance of the vehicle. This vehicle should be recalled and the cost of the update and labor should not be a burden to the consumer. Consumers, such as me, who have had to pay for this work should be reimbursed by Ford.

2017 Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0L Ecoboost purchased brand new. Coolant intrusion into Cylinder #1, causing a misfire, registered in Vehicle Health Alert system; check engine light on. Liberty Ford dealership was notified within the first week of the 1st misfire. Autozone found fault code P0301. Code scanner suggested replacing cylinder #1 spark plug. If misfire cont., it stated to replace Coil on cyl #1. All four spark plugs were replaced and Coil for cylinder #1 was replaced. Veh.began to exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke & rough running. Coolant fumes were entering the veh. cabin. Coolant added as soon as "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" dash alert. Diagnostic completed at Firestone Complete Auto Care: Determined "Cyl 1 is full of coolant & misfire occurring due to engine burning coolant.TSB out for this issue stating engine block replacement will be needed. Recommend dealership*** Manufacturer's recommended maintenance.… They provided a copy of TSB 22-2229 and stated Ford Manufacturer should replace entire engine (Long Block). I contacted Ford Manufacturer. They stated several times that "this is a KNOWN ISSUE". They stated a diagnostic must be done by a Ford Dealership and submit financial asst. request. They found code P0301 as well as overheating codes are present, coolant level low. Mode 6 shows multiple misfires on cyl1...found same diagnosis. TSB 22-2229 covers this condition, engine build code is 910 and meets criteria." Veh avail for inspection upon request? The veh stranded me away from home 2-4 times. I was given literature that stated low coolant may automatically shut off the engine, even while driving. Antifreeze contains glycols & other liquid chemicals that are sweet smelling but POISONOUS. That entering the veh cabin can possibly cause a person to have damage to the central nervous system, lose consciousness, become nauseated, vomit, dizzy, etc. Ford didn’t notify me of the manufacturer fault that caused the issue, a 3rd party did.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the contact was informed by the mechanic that the lug nuts were defective. The lug nuts were replaced. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 54,042.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, she noticed there was a nail in the passenger’s side tire. The low tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the lug nuts were swollen and that the rim was damaged during removal. The tire also had a slow leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
Jul 31, 2023
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated during routine maintenance, the dealer informed the contact that all four lug nuts needed to be replaced. The contact was advised by the dealer that the lug nuts could shear off while driving, causing the wheel to detach and the driver would lose control of the vehicle. The contact had the lug nuts replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the lug nuts were the original parts. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
Jul 13, 2023
The Ford dealer told me that my 2017 Ford Fusion has "swollen lug nuts" and must be replaced. They said that there is a potential for the lug nuts to fail and the wheel would fall off while driving. This will be at my own expense. My car has less than 22,000 miles on it and I feel that this a design/manufacturing issue on the part of Ford Motor Company.

When parking i attempted to put the vehicle in reverse and a warning light came on "shift system failure", and the shifter cable locked in placed flashing causing the car to lock without the ability to move. Shift cable bushing is split causing dislodge from the fitting
May 20, 2025
Over the last 11 months when I am driving I go to back into a parking spot and the gear shifter gets stuck in neutral and will not move. I have to turn the vehicle off and turn it back on to move it. This leaves me sitting in the middle of the parking lot at risk to get hit
May 16, 2023
On 12/08/2022, my 2017 Ford Fusion started as normal in a busy parking lot, but once I idled/moved just a little, it became locked as if the emergency brake was on (it was not) and would not shift out of park, regardless of trying to put in neutral, reverse, etc. (It would show N or R on the dash, but remained deadlocked in Park.) There was this error message: "SHIFT SYS FAULT Service Required." It took several people to push the car to a safe area out of the way of traffic. Had to have the car towed at owner's expense to the closest Ford dealership. There were not other messages or signs of the problem prior to this failure on 12/08/2022. Ford dealer on 12/10/2022 removed and replaced transmission shifter cable bushing and installed cap. Ford dealer agreed that most certainly, this 2017 Ford Fusion has the EXACT same recall #22s43 that other 2017 Fusions have had. However, when Ford dealer entered this vehicle VIN, nothing showed up in OASIS. So I had to pay for this repair out of pocket. Like others have stated, the Ford recall #22s43 is too narrow in scope. So why in the world am I having to pay 100% of the cost to fix the EXACT SAME bushing/cap issue (recall 22s43) that others are having with the EXACT SAME YEAR, MAKE, & MODEL?!?! Just because my VIN wasn't included in Ford's original recall? DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! If it's the same issue as the other vehicles are having (of the same year, make, model) why am I paying for the error and they aren't?

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while attempting to reverse, the vehicle failed to move. The vehicle failed to shift into park and neutral without warning. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The spark plugs were replaced; however, the following day the check engine warning light illuminated again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with coolant leaking into the engine, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

While driving on the interstate car began to excessively shake and check engine light flashed for almost a minute then stopped. Was approaching exit to residence location and was able to get there. Once at home, car was then sluggish to start but no check engine light was on. Attempted to drive car in a safe area to see if it would repeat or light would come on. This was on a Sunday, therefore the dealership was closed. Light did come back on solidly and took car to dealership that next day, Monday. Was told coolant intrusion into the engine. After the incident and in doing research, appears to be a known issue in this vehicle.

Feb 22, 2024
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the spark plugs. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and it was determined that there was a misfire in cylinder #3 due to low compression. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 19-2243. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 112,000.

In addition, the contact stated that the battery failed to charge. The contact stated that even though the vehicle was not started, the gear shifter independently switched from park and reverse. The contact stated when the vehicle started, the vehicle rolled backwards several feet. The contact stated that the failure almost caused him to be pinned up against the wall of the garage, where the vehicle was parked. The contact stated that he used the parking brake to stop the vehicle from moving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 33,500.

When putting my car in park, I received a warning "SHIFT SYS FAULT" Confirm Park Brake Apply Before Exiting the Vehicle. My parking brake was never on. When I got back in my vehicle, my gear shift would not let me take put my vehicle into gear. I googled and found it was the gear shift bushing and there was a recall on this part. I was able to take my vehicle to the repair shop and told them there was a recall. They informed me the recall was not for my vehicle because the recall was for automatic transmissions on 2016 and before. How can this exact same part be a recall on an automatic vehicle, but not on an electronic "dial" gear shift?

He says they have seen this a lot in these cars.

I COULDN'T PUT IT IN ANY GEAR. IT WOULDN'T START UNTIL SOME GUY CAME OVER AND SAID THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIS FORD FUSION. HE KNEW HOW TO GET IT BACK IN PARK AND SHOWED ME WHAT HAPPENED. HE HAS SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT PART.

SO, I HAVE COMPLAINED TO FORD ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS ABOUT MY GEAR SHIFT MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN I PUT IT INTO DRIVE, THE GEAR WILL GO BACK INTO PARK AND START FLASHING. OR IT WILL START DRIVING AND GO BACK INTO PARK AFTER MOVING. IT'S CRAZY. THEN, FORD SERVICE HAS TOLD ME MULTIPLE TIMES THAT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I EVEN HAD WANTED THEM TO TAKE THE CAR BACK BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE, BUT THEY SAID IT HADN'T BEEN LONG ENOUGH AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AGAIN, NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE EXACT ISSUE. ALSO, MY WINDOWS ROLL BACK DOWN AFTER I ROLL THEM UP. THEY WILL DO THIS SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THEY STOP. AGAIN, FORD SAID THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG.

The shift dial (park, neutral, drive, reverse), makes a continuous spin noise like it's stuck and trying to turn, but can't. This is the second time this is happening. I had it fixed the first time at the Ford dealership, and was short one year in the Recall group. 2017 year should have been included in that recall. After they fixed it, now the issue has returned. This issue results in the driver not being able to move in reverse. Therefore, you're stuck and unable to back up if needed. There are no warning lights. The only warning you get is when the rattling noise starts.

I PURCHASED THE CAR ON OCTOBER 21ST OF 2019. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THIS CAR BASICALLY SENSE PURCHASING IT. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 54,000 MILES. I WAS UP TO ABOUT 74,000 WITH THE NEED TO REPLACE A MOTOR. I DID SO, BEFORE I REPLACED THE MOTOR THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON. I CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR BELIEVING THAT WOULD BE THE ISSUE, I ALSO REPLACED THE BELT WITH IT THINKING I MIGHT AS WELL. STILL BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON. SO I EVEN WENT AND CHANGED THE BATTERY AND STILL A BATTERY LIGHT. I HAVE DUMPED NOTHING BUT MONEY INTO THIS CAR SENSE PURCHASING IT. I HAVE BEEN READING NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THESE 2017 FORD FUSIONS ANS BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS BECAUSE SO MANY OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES AND NOW I BELIEVE THE ECM IS GOING TO BE REPLACED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR THINKING A NEW CAR WOULD BE A GOOD INVESTMENT FOR MY FAMILY AND TO GO BACK AND FOURTH TO WORK WHICH HAS BEEN NOT THE CASE. I HAVE HAD OLD WAR HORSE TRUCKS WITH OVER 200K MILES RUN AND DRIVE BUT KNEW THEY WOULD NEED TO UPGRADED TO A NEWER FAMILY CAR. I REALLY DO NOT THINK FORD IS TAKING ACCOUNT FOR THE REAL ISSUES THEY ARE HAVING WITH THEIR NEW VEHICLES THEY ARE SELLING TO THE PUBLIC WHO ARE TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING AND WITH CONSTANT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT JUST ISN'T RIGHT. BASIC MAINTENANCE IS UNDERSTANDABLE BUT TO HAVE ALL OF THESE ISSUES JUST SEEMS UNACCEPTABLE.

BECAUSE WHEN I TRY TO START IT MOST TIMES IT IS DELAYED OR SOMETIMES IT WON'T START AND I NEED A JUMP . THIS CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. WHY AM I HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STARTER ? IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS CAR?

Coolant leaking into cylinder, causing sudden rough driving, engine overheating warnings that don’t match temperature readings and distract driving.
Jan 12, 2026
The temp gauge suddenly jumped up and alert said coolant was low. Driving on freeway, car shut down before I could get into a shoulder. Big rigs swerving around me, could have been killed. No leaks under car. Cap off the coolant reservoir and the coolant level bubbles up back to normal. After that, even driving one mile makes the temp gauge jump up and drop down erratically. Quoted more thank $8,000 to repair because it requires a new engine? Ford dealership said this is very common issue for Ford Fusions, that it is a design flaw and many of their clients have had similar safety scares.
May 11, 2025
All right, so I have a little bit of bad news for you, so we hooked up a code reader to the car. And there were a couple of misfires. So there's a cylinder to misfire a cylinder or a random misfire detected, a cylinder 3, misfire a cylinder one misfire. So our service advisor thinks that it's probably not an issue with a coolant. An issue with the head gasket, and he would recommend that that gets replaced. And he said, at some point, you might need to replace the entire engine.

AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR ENGINE STARTED CUTTING OUT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, FUEL FILTER AND COIL PACK. PROBLEM DID NOT RESOLVE. TOOK CAR TO CHAPMAN FORD IN SCOTTSDALE AZ. THEY FOUND THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR IN CYLINDER 2 HAD STUCK OPEN FLOODING THE CYLINDER WITH GASOLINE AND COMPROMISING LUBRICATION IN THAT CYLINDER. REPAIR REQUIRES REMOVING ENGINE AND REBUILDING IT. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT OF WHICH 95% IS HIGHWAY MILES. IF I WOULDN'T HAVE KNOWN TO SWITCH IT TO SPORT MODE AND KEEP THE RPM UP UNTIL I COULD GET TO A SAFE LOCATION IT COULD HAVE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING A COLLISION. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ECOBOOST 4 CYLINDER MOTOR AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. FORD REFUSING TO PAY FOR REPAIRS ON A CAR THAT'S JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD. According to repair shop check engine light will remain on as anti freeze leaks due to a malfunction in my car. Repair shop states this is not a recall as it is not a safety issue and yet when I put on gas peddle car doesn't auto engage to proper speed. I also don't see how coolant leaking on engine wouldn't be safety issue.

My vehicle is displaying severe symptoms as well as throwing code of the already noted recall for other trims of this car but my car isn’t on recall list. I’ve had to replace the canister purge valve 3 times in less than 2 years, the vacuum seal is affecting fuel tank and honking every 15-20 seconds…when canister gets stuck open, I can’t start my car which happened yesterday in a busy intersection. It’s dangerous and I’m afraid to transport my kids in my car.

What malfunctioned- Car did not give any notice that it was in engine failure for months other than under performing and upon taking it to the ford dealership was never helped with the problem they took money for an oil change and works package but failed to make sure my car was safe. My car was a safety hazard bc it gave zero warning that it was loosing power and when the engine did fail I knew something had been wrong for almost a year and felt it went ignored by Ford and was taken advantage of. The product has been confirmed by multiple mechanics that what causes it is the hose cracks and thus the engine coolant wrecks a working engine. Ford knows it’s a problem but isn’t acknowledging it and makes more money off of parts.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR ON 8/31/16 AND ON 11/28/16 THE DREADED DEAD BATTERY PROBLEMS STARTED. I TOOK IN IT, THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY ON 11/28 SAID THAT IT WAS PROBABLY JUST A FAULTY BATTERY FROM THE MANUFACTURE AND THAT IT HAPPENS, RARELY BUT IT HAPPENS. ON 12/31/17 I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT AGAIN WOULD NOT START. EACH TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED, I HAVE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK MY CAR BY TAKING OFF A PIECE OF THE DOOR HANDLE TO EXPOSE THE KEY HOLE AND THE DOME LIGHTS OR DASH LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON, THAT'S MY DEAD GIVEAWAY THAT IT WONT START. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP THIS TIME THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED ON 8/1/16 AND SAT TOO LONG WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN SO IT CAUSED THE BATTERY TO MESS UP(EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED A MONTH EARLIER, AND DRIVE EVERY SINGLE DAY TO WORK). I GOT THE CAR BACK AND I BET YOU CANT GUESS WHAT HAPPENED ON 2/4/17... MY CAR WAS DEAD. WOULDN'T START, WOULDN'T UNLOCK... DEAD. THIS TIME THEY WE'RE "99.9% SURE" THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM BY UPDATING MY POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. THEY HADN'T, IT DIED AGAIN ON 5/22/17. WHEN I TOOK IT IN, THEY UPDATED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND SENT ME ON MY WAY, SO I'M JUST WAITING FOR IT TO DIE AGAIN HONESTLY. THEN... I TOLD THEM MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING ON 5/22/17- THEY IGNORED IT WHEN DOING UPDATES AND IT WASN'T RESOLVED. ON 6/13/17 I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL SLIPPING SO THEY UPDATED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AGAIN... DIDN'T FIX IT(OBVIOUSLY) AND THEN ON 6/22/17 I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND SLIDING MY CAR INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC TRYING TO SHIRT GEARS(ITS AUTOMATIC) AND THEY REPLACED A PRESSURE VALVE, NOT SURE WHY YOU WOULD NEED TO REPLACE A PART LIKE THAT ON A BRAND NEW CAR ANYWAY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION STILL ACTS UP.

The engine on this vehicle needs to be replaced due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders. On my engine diagnosis I get Error Code #P0302 which indicates Cylinder 2 misfire detected. My vehicle overheats quickly, runs rough and the coolant reservoir is dry. The vehicle's exhaust blows out a lot of white-ish smoke with a sickening odor. I took my vehicle to my local Auto Nation Ford of Bellevue, WA service department. They told me it is what they have seen on a lot of Ford Eco-Boost engines and there was a recall on these for engine replacement but my 2017 vehicle falls out of the recall. They told me I need a new engine replaced in this vehicle to the cost of about $10,000. Auto Nation Ford Bellevue, WA's service department referenced service bulletin #22-2229 (Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or a runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may include P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the long block engine assembly.). There were no warnings or dashboard lights except when my coolant gauge rose suddenly while driving on the road. I have dutifully maintained my vehicle with regular checkups so I don't believe I am at fault for this problem. I believe the Ford Motor Company should have informed me of this chronic problem but they didn't. I also believe my 2017 Fusion should be repaired with the cost going to the Ford Motor Company for a known defect. What do I do now please?

I had the car about 3 months when the first service light appeared. Misfire - replaced the cylinder. But 2 months later service light came on again for same issue. Ford Dealership said it was coolant intrusion. Car repeatedly overheats. Service engine light comes on/stays on. Temperature gauge will indicate high temp, then will drop to normal seconds later, then shoot to the top again. At times engine will decrease power, and I have to pull over and park until engine cools, no matter where it happens. I don't feel safe driving on the highway, or any distance more than 20 miles or so. I am also afraid to park in the garage at night in case it's too hot. Ford dealership says it needs a new engine. Called Ford Customer Service but my VIN was not on the service action 19B37 or 21N12 (even though it was manufactured at a listed plant on the listed dates) so they would not assist in covering it.

THE CAR WOULD NOT START DUE TO THE THROTTLEBODY FAILED TO OPERATE. LUCKILY, THE CAR WAS PARKED WHEN THIS OCCURED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO NEAREST FORD DEALER. WHO INFORMED ME IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING AND IT HAD FAILED DURING OPERATION, CAR WOULD HAVE COME TO A DEAD STOP WHILE DRIVING AND/OR IN MY CASE FAILED TO START. THEY SAID THROTTLEBODY GIVES THE ENGINE THE AIR IT NEEDS TO PREFORM. WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND DUE TO DRIVE ON A MAIN HIGHWAY FOR TWO HUNDRED MILES AT 70MILES PER HOUR! I HAVE INCLUDED INVOICES FROM THE FORD DEALER, INVOICE FROM AUTO DEALER- WHO HAD REPAIRS DONE ON CAR, AND THE CARFAX REPORT-THAT DID NOT SHOW ANY THROTTLEBODY RECALLS OR REPAIRS, NOR DID THE AUTO DEALER'S REPORT. THE CAR WAS CERTIFIED FOR 21,953 MILES BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND CARFAX. HOW IS THAT A CAR'S THROTTLEBODY WOULD FAIL AFTER 21,000 MILES, UNLESS IT WAS ALREADY DEFECTIVE IN THE BEGINNING!?? THE REPORTS INDICATE THE VEHICLE WAS A 1 OWNER CAR AND 21,953 MILES WITH PASSING THRU TWO SYSTEMS AND NEVER DETECTED. I HAD ONLY OWED THE CAR FOR 61 DAYS UNDER 24,000 MILES WHEN IT FAILED!

Failure of vacuum pump caused the brakes and engine to fail on the highway. No warning indications appeared until after the vehicle was brought to a stop. The vehicle was diagnosed at Riser Ford. The mechanics claim that a plastic part in the vacuum pump system broke. After further research I found that this a common occurrence with the Eco boost engines. An investigation is warranted, Ford's negligence and poor build quality has become a safety concern.

The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in her driveway on a hill without the emergency brakes, the vehicle rolled down the hill and bumped into her husband's parked vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer but was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated on April 2022, while she was driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle began to shake and failed to go over 50 mph. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V427000 (Power Train), however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and transferred her to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. The consumer stated she should be reimbursed for the repairs.

IN HEAVY RAIN, THE HIGH SPEED OF THE WIPERS IS WAY TOO SLOW... MAKING IT UNSAFE TO SEE EVEN WHEN PRUDENCE OF SLOWING DOWN AND/OR POSSIBLY CONSIDERING PULLING OVER. ONE CANNOT SEE SAFELY ENOUGH TO SEEK A PULL OVER SPOT DURING THE IMMEDIACY OF THE SITUATION.. THUS ONGOING TRAVEL IS THE ONLY OPTION. WIPERS BLADES ARE GOOD. WINDSHIELD IS CLEAN. RAIN SHEETING / BLURRING OF VISION HAPPENS BECAUSE WIPERS AREN'T ABLE TO MOVE FAST ENOUGH
Jul 03, 2020
WINDSHIELD WIPERS CHATTER ACROSS WINDOW WHEN IT'S RAINING. THE CHATTER GETS SO BAD THAT THEY SKIP ACROSS THE WINDOW NOT CLEARING THE WINDOW COMPLETELY HITTING THE POST ON THE LEFT SIDE. THEN WHEN THEY ARE IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION THEY WILL STOP AND MAKE A LOUD SCRAPPING SOUND. THEY HAVE CHATTERED SO BAD THAT THEY HAVE ACTUALLY STOPED FUNCTIONING IN THE RAIN LEAVING NO VISIBILITY FOR DRIVING. THIS WAS ON THE FREEWAY CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES. 1 TIME AFTER WE PURCHASED THE CAR, APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES, AND WE WERE TOLD THE WIPERS WERE JUST DIRTY. BETWEEN THIS VISIT AND THE NEXT 3 WE HAD TO PURCHASE REPLACEMENT WIPERS AT 6,000 MILES AS THE WIPERS WERE NOT PROPERLY CLEARING THE WINDOW, BUT THEY WERE ALSO CAUSING CHATTER. . HOWEVER, THE OLD WIPERS APPEARED BRAND NEW. DURING THE NEXT 3 VISITS TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN EUREKA CA WE WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG, BUT THEY APPLIED RAINEX OR A SIMILAR PRODUCT. THE WINDOW WAS "CLEANED". LASTLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPLACED. THEY ALSO APPEARED BRAND NEW. UPON TALKING TO THE SERVICE REP WE WERE TOLD THAT THE WIPERS ON OUR FORD FUSION WERE NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED FOR OUR FORD FUSION AND THEY WERE FACTORY WIPERS. HE ALSO STATED THAT SEVERAL OF THE SERVICE TECHS HAVE FUSIONS AND THEY HAVE HAD SIMILAR SITUATIONS. WE HAVE HAD THIS SET OF WIPERS ON FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND ALREADY RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS. I SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE IT. HOWEVER, I CAN'T JEOPARDIZE THE LIVES OF MY GRANDCHILDREN, OTHERS AND MYSELF. PLEASE HELP MISS MIMI

BOUNCE BACK WINDOW FEATURE CAN NOT BE DISABLED. EVERY TIME MY WIFE OPENS THE SIDE WINDOW, THE WINDOW WILL NOT CLOSE. THE WINDOW GOES TO THE TOP AND COMES BACK DOWN BY ITSELF. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED IT. THE NEXT TIME MY WIFE TOUCHED IT, IT FAILED. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET GAVE A FEW THOUSAND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REPROGRAM IT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. SHE LOWERED THE WINDOW ON THE INTERSTATE. THEN SHE TRIED TO CLOSE IT. IT WOULDN'T CLOSE. NOW SHE IS GOING 65 MPH AND FOOLING AROUND WITH THE WINDOW TRYING TO GET IT TO CLOSE. SHE SHOULD BE CONCENTRATING ON DRIVING, NOT FOOLING AROUND WITH A WINDOW. FURTHERMORE, IF SHE IS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND SEES SOME SEEDY INDIVIDUAL COMING NEAR HER SHE CAN'T CLOSE THE WINDOW.

WIPER SPRAY NOZZLES DO NOT SPRAY ON THE WINDSHIELD VERY WELL MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CLEAR A DIRTY WINDSHIELD. THE WIPER ARMS BLOCK THE LEFT AND RIGHT SPRAYERS AND ONLY GET A SMALL AMOUNT OF FLUID ON THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER THE WIPERS LEAVE THE HOME POSITION AND STAY SLIGHTLY ELEVATED ON THE WINDSHIELD THE CENTER SPRAYER CAN NO LONGER SPRAY PAST IT TO COVER THE WINDSHIELD EITHER.

I have the 2.5 liter engine in my 2017 ford fusion but it’s also experiencing the same coolant leak symptoms of other engine models of this year of vehicle. Car has no visible leaks but coolant levels keep dropping. Temp gauge goes up and down back and forth. Car seems to be sputtering while driving. Currently just passed 100,000 miles this week. I’ve had the vehicle for 7 years and it seems like recall after recall.

The car started shaking while driving down the road and when coming to a stop. The gears were not shifting properly. I took it to a mechanic shop and they told me several different things "could" be wrong, supposedly fixed it, $700 for that. Started shaking and shift gear problems again, took it in again and spent $2800 for the supposed fix. Several days later same thing, took it back again and they said to take it to a transmission shop because they couldn't do anymore. Found out there was a recall on the torque and the different mechanic "fixed" that. Now it won't shift into several of the gears. Over $4500.00 spent! Transmission

Engine has cylinders flooding with coolant due to the design of the EcoBoost engine
Oct 02, 2025
The antifreeze leaks into the engine due to a KNOWN manufacturer design flaw, is available to inspection upon request and appointment made. Mine and others safety are at risk due to the fact that if the engine seizes up while driving, could lead to a sudden crash. Problem confirmed by a local mechanic. Not been inspected by anyone else other than a different independent mechanic. The first sign of a problem is a check engine light, followed by a sputter in the engine and lack of consistent speed control, first appeared in February, and lead to 2 sets of spark plugs being replaced
Jun 06, 2024
I went to my dealership because of a check engine light. After many hours of searching, I was told that a coolant leak had been found. I was informed that the head gasket was damaged and causing a leak into the engine. The cheapest repair would cost nearly $8000. The extended warranty that I purchased for the car has expired. Searching Google, I see that Ford is aware of the problem, and has known about it for some time. Ford should not be able to get away with this.

THE OWNER/MYSELF DRIVING VEHICLE HOME MY 2017 FORD FUSION SE 1.5L ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN WHITE SMOKE BILLOWED OUT FROM THE EXHAUST LEADING TO A SEIZED ENGINE ON A HIGH TRAFFIC DENSITY HIGHWAY. THE CAR STARTED TO SPUTTER, CLUNK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT FLASHING AS I PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS CAR HAD ISSUES BEFORE THE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE WITH CYLINDERS MISFIRING, SPARK PLUGS BEING FOULED AT LOW MILEAGE AND ENGINE LOSING COOLANT. PER MY VEHICLES BREAKDOWN I BROUGHT IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO WORKED FOR FORD AND STATED MY ENGINE LOCKED UP AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AFTER BRINGING MY CAR TO ANOTHER SHOP FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSIS, IT WAS THE SAME ANSWER AFTER A FULL LOOK AT IT. I TRIED CALLING FORD IN MICHIGAN THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND, MY DEALER FRED BEANS OF FORD GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND SAYING I HAVE TO COVER THIS REPAIR DUE TO IT BEING OUT OF MY WARRANTY. I DID THE PROGRAM 19B37 RECALL FROM FORD WHICH RESET THE COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR ANTIFREEZE AND COOLANT ENTERING THE ENGINE. CLEARLY, THAT ISSUE THAT FORD TRIED TO PATCH UP DIDN'T WORK. MY MECHANIC & FORD DETERMINED THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED AND HAVE FOUND BULLETINS STATING THIS IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT KNOWN BY FORD AS FORD HAD RELEASED THE BULLETINS. THIS DEFECT LEADS TO ENGINE FAILURE AND IS NOTHING CAUSED BY THE DRIVER BUT SOLELY DUE TO THE FACT THAT WHEN CERTAIN ENGINES WERE MANUFACTURED THEY WERE MANUFACTURED INCORRECTLY. FORD IS UNWILLING TO PAY FOR ENGINE REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ADMITTED THIS IS FAULT DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESSES IF THE ENGINE IS TO STALL OR SEIZE DURING DRIVING THIS COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY, ACCIDENT, AND EVEN DEATH. FORD IS NOT RECALLING THIS ENGINE AT THIS TIME. PLEASE - RECALL THIS ISSUE. 1.5 & 2.0 ENGINES ARE VERY PROBLEMATIC. THE COST FOR MY REPAIR IS $4,800.00 THAT I DON'T HAVE.

BACK IN 2018, 1.3 MILLION FORD FOCUS VEHICLES WERE RECALLED DUE TO A FUEL PURGE VALVE. WHO'S TO SAY THE SAME ISSUE IS STARTING TO OCCUR AGAIN, BUT TO THE FORD FUSIONS? MY 2017 FORD FUSION THAT I PURCHASED 6 MONTHS AGO HAS THIS ISSUE. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN! ON MY WAY TO WORK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, DURING MORNING TRAFFIC, MY CAR DECIDES TO TURN OFF CAUSING A ACCIDENT, BUT LUCKILY NOBODY GOT HURT! WHILE I WAS SITTING THERE WAITING FOR THE POLICE TO ARRIVE, I TRIED TURNING IT BACK ON, AND LUCKILY IT DID, BUT SURPRISE SURPRISE NOW WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. WHEN I GOT OFF OF WORK MY CAR TURNED BACK ON (STILL WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON) AND THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN 4 TIMES ON MY WAY BACK HOME. I DROVE ALL THE WAY BACK ON THE RIGHT HAND PASSING LANE BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, AND COULD EASILY CAUSE A ACCIDENT AGAIN! WHAT IT DID EXACTLY IS IT STARTS LIKE A HUMMING/VIBRATING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE DASHBOARD, I COULDN'T PUSH ON MY GAS, TURN MY STEERING WHEEL, AND AUTOMATICALLY GOES DOWN TO 0 MPH, AND ON THE DASHBOARD IT ASKED ME TO PUT THE CAR IN P, AND THEN TURNS OFF. OF COURSE THE WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED DIDN'T WANT TO COVER IT, AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY $425 TO HAVE THIS FIXED! FORD MOTOR COMPANY NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE SERIOUSLY GETS INJURED!

PRIMARY CONCERN: CAR LOSES ALL PROPULSION AND GOES INTO ACCESORY MODE WHEN ACCELERATING. I, AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHERS WITH 2017 FORD FUSION SPORT MODELS, HAVE LOST TOTAL POWER WHILE LEAVING RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, AND WORST OF ALL, MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR DIED UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ON THE HIGHWAY, AND WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN, ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, MONTHS APART FROM EACH OTHER. A MEMBER OF OUR FACEBOOK GROUP OF FUSION SPORT OWNERS CAPTURED HIS CAR LOSE ALL POWER, ON VIDEO, AND HIS CAR IS BEING BOUGHT BACK BY FORD, BUT THAT IS NOT ENOUGH. THESE CARS, ALTHOUGH FUN AND ENJOYABLE, POSE A SERIOUS THREAT TO NOT ONLY THE OWNERS OF THE CAR, BUT ALSO TO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD WHO COULD HIT US FROM BEHIND, INJURING OF KILLING PASSENGERS IN EITHER VEHICLE, OR VEHICLES NEARBY. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REMOVED FROM THE ROAD. HERE IS HIS VIDEO: HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/NLNN0HKRHTG

MY CAR, WITH 2K MILES, WOULD NOT START (PUSH BUTTON START, THIS IS THE PLUG-IN HYBRID "ENERGI" MODEL). AFTER BEING TOWED TO A DEALER, THEY HAD TO TEAR THE CAR APART TO FIND A BAD WIRING HARNESS AS PART OF THE HYBRID SYSTEM. THIS PART WAS UNAVAILABLE, AND I AM HAVING TO WAIT OVER 5 DAYS TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION AND INSTEAD TRIED TO GET ME TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT FROM FORD. THIS IS A SAFETY FIX, AND THE CAR ITSELF JUST WOULDN'T RUN. TO NOT TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER OR HAVE THE ABILITY TO QUICKLY GET A PART IS UNACCEPTABLE. WIRING HARNESSES SHOULD NOT FAIL IN 5 WEEKS AND 2K MILES. THE CAR DROVE ONE MILE, THEN WOULD NOT RESTART. IT ONLY COMPLAINED TO "GET OFF THE ROAD SOON". A FAILURE OF WHAT SHOULD BE A VERY BASIC PART AT 2K MILES IS CONCERNING, NOT TO MENTION THE INABILITY OF FORD TO REPAIR IT IN QUICK FASHION. THIS DOES MAKE ME WONDER IF THE PROBLEM IS MORE WIDESPREAD AND SO PARTS ARE HARD TO COME BY.

ISSUE 1: FMVSS CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. INTERMITTENT TOTAL FAILURE OF CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, INCLUDING FAILURE OF DEFOGGER CAUSING OBSTRUCTED VISIBILITY IN COLD CLIMATES (VEHICLE IS BASED IN METROPOLITAN DETROIT). THE FAILURE IS BOTH ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL. NEITHER THE TOUCH SCREEN NOR THE PHYSICAL CONSOLE BUTTONS RESPOND TO COMMANDS. AFTER SECOND INTERMITTENT FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN AN ATTACHED HOME GARAGE. AFTER IGNITION, DEFOGGER FUNCTIONED, BUT NO OTHER CLIMATE FUNCTIONS WORKED. DEFOGGER EMITTED A BURNING SMELL AKIN TO A CAMPFIRE. FORCED TO DRIVE WITH SUCH CONDITIONS TO WORK TO MAINTAIN VISIBILITY. ISSUE 2: POSSIBLE FMVSS SAFETY ISSUE. INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF THE AUDIO SYSTEM, INCLUDING SNYC COMMANDS. TOUCHSCREEN (BOTH ON THE HOME SCREEN AND ON THE TOOLBAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN) AND PHYSICAL BUTTONS DO NOT RESPOND WHEN AUDIO BUTTONS ARE PRESSED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, SYNC DOES NOT RESPOND. ALTHOUGH BLUETOOTH IS ACTIVE, OCCUPANTS CANNOT HEAR THE DIALED PARTY, AND THE DIALED PARTY CANNOT HEAR THE OCCUPANTS. SINCE SYNC IS TIED INTO 911 SYSTEM FOR CRASHES, THIS WILL PREVENT OCCUPANTS FROM ENGAGING WITH 911 OPERATORS HANDS-FREE IN AN ACCIDENT. IF OCCUPANTS CANNOT REACH/MANIPULATE PHONE IN A CRASH, THEY MAY BE UNABLE TO CALL FOR HELP. ISSUE 3: INTERMITTENT REAR CAMERA FAILURE. AFTER RAINFALL AND FROST EVENTS, THE REAR CAMERA DOES NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN REVERSE GEAR. THE SCREEN IS BLACK, EXCEPT FOR AN OUTLINE OF THE VEHICLE. THE RADAR SENSORS REMAIN ACTIVE AND BEEPS IF THE VEHICLE IS CLOSE TO BACKING INTO AN OBJECT. AFTER A PERIOD OF DRYNESS, THE CAMERA RE-ENGAGES. I ASSUME THERE IS A MOISTURE INTRUSION PROBLEM, BUT AM UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ENTRY POINT. ONLINE SEARCHES SUGGEST THAT MOISTURE MAY BE INTRUDING THROUGH THE FACTORY-INSTALLED, ROOF-MOUNTED ANTENNA.

I drove about 11 miles total to get on the interstate, when I was about 7-9miles into my drive, my steering wheel started to lock up. I slammed on my breaks, and kept twisting and turning my steering wheel for about 2 miles to the nearest gas station. I had tons of lights pop up on my dash and they said my steering system is failed. Something along those lines. It said something about my shifter being messed up as well? I have had 0 lights on, 0 warnings, nothing. If I was going any faster than I was I could’ve been seriously injured. I almost ran straight into a bridge before I slammed my breaks on to ensure I wouldn’t hurt myself or wreck the car. Not sure why my steering would just all-of-the-sudden go out? I haven’t had any problems previous to this situation so it’s very unsafe and honestly terrifying. This situation could’ve gone south really fast, if I would’ve been on the interstate it could’ve been fatal.

2 separate dealerships made me pay to replace faulty tires when the new ones blew out within less than a month of purchase. They also pocketed the mail in rebates I was promised for buying new sets of tires from their locations. I started taking my car to an independent garage for regular maintenance. My traction control light has been on since shortly after I bought the car in 2018 but I never imagined I'd be spending my entire savings on repairs immediately after the useless warranty expired. First it was a cracked flex plate which I'm lucky happened when I was driving on a side road as opposed to the interstate. I was going roughly 55mph when I lost my ability to steer, accelerate, or even cut power to the ignition. My car has been towed 4 times with total cost of almost 10K and it still isn't fixed. I reported everything to Ford they don't stand by anything Ford manufactures. I'll probably be living in this piece of trash soon enough as that savings I just wasted was a down payment for a house

There is a recall on 2017 Ford Fusion's torque converter. I currently have a 2017 Ford Fusion. After inspection at a Ford service dealership, the "torque converter clutch internally failed filling the transmission filter with metal debris and starving the pump for fluid causing debris to go throughout the transmission." The problem with this, is that even though it's list as a recall for ,y specific car, the recall is not listed under my VIN number. This inspection was done on December 17, 2024. The safety of myself and children were put at risk when my car hesitated to accelerate on multiple occurrences on busy roads and intersections. The problem has been reproduced by a Ford dealer and has also been inspected by a Ford service dealership. There were no warning lights on indicating that there was a problem.

I am having a lot of problems with my transmission and torque converter and after some research I’ve seen those are both commonly recalled parts on the 2017 ford fusion. My car only has 67,000 miles on it and I believe it’s too soon for this to be a problem. I obtained my vehicle on Lease in 2017 with 40K miles from Ford of Branford CT. When off lease I purchased it outright. I still own the vehicle and am still having Two main problems, One since almost the beginning. The First is the automatic seat control(driver's). This system would periodically push the driver into the Steering Wheel. I brought it into that dealership several times for that reason, while still in CT. They did claim to get it to stop doing this with some resets, but over time it continued. Around 2020, the vehicle began going totally dead. Initially it was determined to be the Starting Battery. My concern was it to ba a Compiter or Power drain problem. Several batteries and Dealership visits didn't solve it. I moved to SC in May 2022. These problems continued there, where Cox Ford of Southern Pines took over. After more Service visits the only answer was a BAD BATTERY. Recently, after returning from Vacation and having to jump start the vehicle two times, I had several conversations with the service department. Finally a new Service writer found some information. A Technical Service Bulletin described how in this vehicle, how under seat wiring for the automatic seats, were becoming frayed and shorting on metal rails.(182025A). Also another for Battery Drain (SSM 50250). My Automotive background (which I no longer do) Tells me that electric seat wiring, grounding against seat rails could cause the Battery to be Draining. I believe they could be connected.

My brakes are grinding squealing/rattling and i have pads replaced, no rotor wear, not sure what’s wrong. I’ve brought my car in to be serviced 3+ times and have left with no fixed car and worse brakes. When i bring up issues with my car that are related to the recalls the car has, they tell me those recalls don’t apply to my car although im having the same problems. My brakes have progressively gotten worse/louder and the pressure on my pedals is not the same. I’m scared to drive my car and i have been trying to get it fixed for months. This is not the only problem im having, my gas tank “farts” constantly and my car will stall and shut off unless i turn off auto start stop. There is no recall on this yet it’s a KNOWN problem. It makes the car undriveable.

The interior lighting on the console and dashboard become dim or do not turn on at all, day or night. D). While driving the vehicle it does not always accelerate properly, which is very hazardous in traffic. E). The Bluetooth system connects and disconnects itself randomly. F). The air and heating system randomly turn on and off without being touched. G). Charging my phone in the vehicle is also challenging as it does not always work. H). Bluetooth radio stereo system is continuously problematic, volume randomly increases and decreases and turns on and off by itself, even with the vehicle completely shut down. I). After locking the doors, everything inside the car does not completely turn off. Interior lighting sometimes turns off and on separately, and it can take up to 30 minutes for the dashboard lighting to go off. J). The instrument panel often makes some sort of sound/noise and the gear shifter dial will aluminate even though the car is off/completely shut down. K). While driving, front windshield defogger will randomly turns on, causing the windshield to fog up, distorting vision, which is very hazardous. L). Upon trying to stop at a stop sign my son was unable to stop in time and rolled into the roadway which caused a collision with another vehicle. He depressed the brakes and clearly heard a grinding noise and never felt the pumping feeling under his foot for the antilock breaks. He thought he couldnt stop due to ice on the roadway, but have since seen the brake recall on my vehicle. The accident caused the vehicle to become a total loss. The witnesses said my son stopped at the stop sing and pulled into the roadway in front of car going 50mph. That could not have happened by the angle of the car at the time of the accident. Had he stopped like the 'witnesses" said, he would have entered the roadway a couple second later and then become t-boned by the other car. He was hit on the rear quarterfinal coinciding with my sons story he could not stop. My son has held to his story that he tried to stop and the car would not stop. I have felt on occasion since Dec my brakes feeling a little off at times but never on a consistant basis to get it looked at. My vehicle had a small leakage in Dec which we could not locate and it never occurred since. We checked the brake fluid and all fluids routinely since. Never seen the leak since. I also put four brand new tires on my vehicle two days prior to the accident. It does appear in the photos after the accident there were new parts on the wheel in the area of the brakes. I only owned this vehicle for 9 months prior to this incident.

SHIFT DIAL GET STUCK IN PARK, WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK EVEN WITH THE OVERRIDE, HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT TWICE, BOTH TIMES THERE WAS "NO PROBLEMS," AND THE SHOP ALWAYS IT WORKS WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DROPS IT OFF. IT HAPPENS ON AND OFF, NEVER GIVES AN ERROR MESSAGE OR THROWS A CODE. COULD BE DRIVING ONE MINUTE, GET HOME, SHUT THE CAR OFF, A COUPLE HOURS LATER GET BACK IN, AND IT DOESN'T SHIFT ANYMORE. IT'S EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT AND CONSIDERING THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS "THIS HAPPENS A LOT" I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DON'T RECALL THE FAULTY CABLE OR RELAY OR TRANSMISSION OR SHIFT DIAL IF IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, BECAUSE AFTER TAKING IT TO 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS, THEY ALL HAVE NO ANSWER TO THE ISSUE, JUST TO "DEAL WITH IT". AND THE FACT THAT THE OVERRIDE DOESN'T WORK IS A BIG PROBLEM. BUT FORD DOES THEIR THING AND I GUESS WON'T RECALL SOMETHING THEY KNOW IS A PROBLEM ON MANY OF THEIR 2017 FORD FUSION SE'S EVEN THOUGH IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE BUT I GUESS THAT'S FORD, MORE ABOUT PUMPING CRAP CARS OUT THAN THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT MAKING THEM SAFE WHEN THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS ON MULTIPLE 2017 FORD FUSIONS.

I HAVE THE 2017 FUSION SPORT 2.7L TWIN TURBO AND I PURCHASED IT NEW. ON MORE THAN 30 OCCASIONS AND AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE HAD IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS WHO SAID THERE ARE NO CODES STORED INDICATING THIS HAPPENED AND SINCE THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD CORPORATE BUT THEY CLOSED MY CLAIM SINCE THEY HAD NO INDICATION THIS WAS OCCURING. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT ISSUE BUT YET THEY CONTINUE TO DENY THE PROBLEM. ON A FEW OCCASIONS I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY RUNNING 70 MILES AN HOUR. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE FOR THIS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED? THE NHSTA NEEDS TO MAKE FORD STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE CAR ALSO PUT ITSELF IN PARK BEFORE CAR WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP WHICH CAUSED A HARD JOLT TO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS GOING TO DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION AMONG OTHER THINGS OVER TIME. I PAID $40,000 FOR THIS CAR AND DESERVE TO FEEL SAFE WHILE DRIVING IT ON THE ROAD. WHAT IF THIS WAS HAPPENING TO YOUR FAMILY WOULD YOU JUST IGNORE IT AND MAKE YOUR FAMILY KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE KNOWING AT ANYTIME IT COULD LOSE POWER AND CAUSE YOU TO WRECK? HOW COME NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS? MAKE THEM BUY MY CAR OR FIX THE ISSUE SO I DON'T HAVE TO PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER IN ORDER TO GET WORK. I AM A NURSE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO FEEL SAFE DRIVING TO WORK. THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED ONE TIME BUT WE'LL OVER 25-40 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE.
