The contact stated that the advanced traction warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the EPS replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and the contact was transferred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

ONLY HAVE ESTIMATES TO FIX THIS SO FAR AND LOOKING AT $3000. HAD IT TOWED BACK HOME FROM ANOTHER TOWN WHICH WAS $100.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST STEERING (EPAS) SYSTEM FAILED. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY FOR THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TO RESET HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. MTN VIEW FORD (301 E 20TH ST, CHATTANOOGA, TN 37408, (423) 756-1331) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING COLUMN, AND RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NOT ONLY COULD THIS CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT , YET JEPORDIZE MANY LIVES. IT'S UNSAFE AND CAUSE SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS. BURNING OIL FUMES SEEP INTO THE VEHICLE. ON SUNDAY, 2/11/2018, I WAS DRIVING EAST I-26 IN COLUMBIA, SC HEADING TO WORSHIP SERVICES AND WITHOUT WARNING, MY CAR SUDDENLY SHUTDOWN CAUSING ME TO LOSE MY STEERING ABILITY. I MANAGED TO GUIDE THE CAR OUT OF THE 60 MPH TRAFFIC AND CAME TO A STOP. AFTER I STOPPED, I SAW A PUFF OF WHAT APPEARED TO BE STEAM OR SMOKE COMING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. AS I OPENED THE HOOD, I COULD NOT SEE ANY LEAKS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF A BROKEN HOSE OR ANYTHING THAT PRODUCED THE SMOKE. I CHECKED MY FLUID LEVELS AND DISCOVERED THAT MY RADIATOR RESEVOIR WAS LOW ON FLUID. I THEN PULLED THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK AND DISCOVERED A CHOCOLATE MILKY SUBSTANCE ON THE DIPSTICK. I SUSPECTED THAT THE OIL AND COOLANT HAD MIXED CAUSING MY ENGINE TO FAIL. I CALLED A WRECKER SERVICE AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO CLASSIC FORD OF COLUMBIA. ON MONDAY, 2/12/2018, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM DEAN RAY, SERVICE PROFESSIONAL FROM CLASSIC FORD. MR. RAY TOLD ME THAT HE THOUGHT THAT THE INTERNAL WATER PUMP FAILED CAUSING THE COOLANT AND OIL TO MIX AND POSSIBLE RUINED THE ENGINE AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. AFTER RECEIVING THIS INFORMATION, I CONDUCTED RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE DESIGN FLAW WITH THE FAILURE OF THE INTERNAL WATER PUMP. WHEN FAILURE OF THE WATER PUMP OCCURS, THERE IS NO WARNING GIVEN TO THE DRIVER THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN SUDDENLY. THIS INTERNAL WATER PUMP WAS PLACED IN THE 3.5 DURATEC ENGINES IN THE TAURUS, EDGE, FLEX, FUSION, AND POSSIBLY OTHER FORD CARS. THIS FAILURE ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. I THINK FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE ENGINES. MANY AUTO EXPERTS HAVE DISCOVERED THIS ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE. LOSS OF LIFE IS POSSIBLY WITH THIS DANGEROUS ENGINE MALFUNCTION AND AN ESTIMATED $7,300.00 ENGINE REPLACEMENT BILL. PLEASE TAKE ACTION ASAP TO AVOID DEATH AND INJURY TO FORD OWNERS. BOTH FRONT BRAKE PADS DID NOT WEAR IN AS THEY SHOULD HAVE. ONLY THE INNER 1/2 INCH OF THE OUTER PAD APPEARS TO HAVE SEATED AGAINST THE ROTOR, NOT THE FULL WIDTH OF THE PAD. THE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM HAS REAPPEARED ON THE NEW PARTS EXACTLY LIKE THE FIRST SET. THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT BRAKES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, IT'S NOT JUST ONE SIDE. THE ABS MODULE IS ON BACKORDER AT THE DEALERSHIP AND PARTS SUPPLIER, POSSIBLY INDICATING AN EMERGENT ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ADEQUATELY.

WHEN DRIVING CAR THE LEFT REAR BRAKE WOULD MAKE A HIGH PITCH NOISE UPON STOPPING AND THE BRAKE WOULD LOCK ON MOMENTARILY. HAD BRAKES CHECKED FOR PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THE PADS AND ROTORS WERE IN GOOD SHAPE AND DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF WEAR OR GLAZING. THE SERVICE TECH SAID THE CALIPERS TESTED GOOD AS WELL. UPON DRIVING THE CAR ON ANOTHER NIGHT FOR ABOUT 10 MILES, THE BRAKES ACTED UP AGAIN AND I WALKED AROUND FOR A VISUAL CHECK. NOTICED THE LEFT REAR (DRIVERS SIDE) ROTOR WAS GLOWING RED HOT SO I SNAPPED A PICTURE OF IT WITH MY CELL PHONE. THE NEXT DAY WE SCHEDULED A SERVICE AT OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND I WAS ABLE TO SHOW THEM MY PICTURE. MEANWHILE, NO CAR WAS MADE AVAILABLE FOR US TO DRIVE UNTIL THE REPAIRS CAN BE MADE SO WE ARE STILL DRIVING THE CAR. MY WIFE NEEDS TO TAKE A BUSINESS TRIP (400 MILES EACH WAY) AND WE ARE NOT SURE IF THIS CAR IS SAFE. WE ARE ASSUMING THAT FORM MOTOR COMPANY FEELS IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR SINCE A LOANER WAS NOT OFFERED TO US. THE BRAKE ROTOR GETS GLOWING RED HOT AND ACTUALLY ILLUMINATES OUR DRIVEWAY AT NIGHT WHEN WE RETURN FROM A TRIP INTO TOWN, WHICH IS ONLY 4 MILES AWAY. WE ARE PARTICULARLY WORRIED ABOUT FUELING THE CAR UP AT A GAS STATION WITH RED HOT STEEL GLOWING AROUND GAS FUMES. THE HEAT IS SO INTENSE THAT YOU CAN FEEL IT FROM 5 FEET AWAY. AFTER READING MANY DIFFERENT BRAKE COMPLAINTS I DISCOVERED THAT FORD CANNOT KEEP UP WITH BRAKE PARTS WHICH ARE REGULARLY ON BACK ORDER. NOT REALLY SURE WHY THE NHTSA HAS NOT FLAGGED THIS ISSUE YET FOR A SAFETY HAZARD. THE CAR WILL NOT START. THIS HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. IT IS TOTALLY RANDOM. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS COLD OR HOT. FORMER OWNER WAS ELDERLY MAN WHO SAID REAR SEAT NEVER USED SO BROKEN HANDLE IS NOT DUE TO OVER USE. MY CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A REAR POWERED SUN SCREEN. I HAVEN'T USED THIS FEATURE IN 5 YEARS AND SUDDENLY IT POPS UP ABOUT 3/4 WAY UP. SINCE IT IS ONLY PARTIALLY EXTENDED, THE SIDE BRACKETS AND TOP BAR OF THE SUN SCREEN ARE REDUCING MY VISIBILITY OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW. THE SUN SCREEN IS SUPPOSED TO RETRACT WHEN THE CAR IS IN REVERSE. IT WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW AT NIGHT WITH SUN SCREEN EXTENTED 3/4 WAY UP. I BELIEVE THIS A SAFETY DESIGN FLAW. THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE CAR MANUAL TO RETRACT THE SUN SCREEN MANUALLY WHEN THE SUN SCREEN FAILED IN THE EXTENTED OR PARTIALLY EXTENTED POSITION.

IT STARTED TO RAIN AND WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT WORK. LUCKILY I WAS NEAR HOME AND ABLE TO RETURN SAFELY ALTHOUGH IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS TIME FOR A FEW MILES. THE DIRECTIONALS AND BRIGHT LIGHT SWITCH IS FINE ON THE STICK BUT NOT THE WIPERS OR WASHER. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WANTS $113 TO TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG - HE SAYS THE TECH NEEDS TO BE PAID FOR TURNING THE COMPUTER ON. AFTER THAT PAYMENT I WOULD KNOW WHAT IT WOULD COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE TAURUS IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT MIGHT BE AS HIGH AS $500. WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY NEAR DEARBORN, MI, MY 2010 FORD TAURUS BEGAN TO INCREASE IN SPEED ON ITS ON. THE LAST TIME I LOOKED AT IT BEFORE I CRASHED, THE ODOMETER WAS AT ABOUT 80 MILES PER HOUR. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR BY PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. I WAS GETTING CLOSE TO OTHER CARES, SO I TURNED TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR, SO I HIT THE GUARD RAIL AND THE CAR ROLLED OVER. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCASION IN TWO WEEKS. ONE SURGE OCCURRED FROM A FULL STOP AND THE ABS BRAKES DIDN'T STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE BUMPER IMPACT. WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH A RED LIGHT ON A STATE ROUTE, I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. ENGINE SOUNDED CHOKED. VEHICLE THEN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TRAVELING UP HILL. FORCING ME TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. AFTER BEING TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, WAS ADVISED THE ENGINE NEEDED REPLACED. DEALERSHIP SERVICE STATED THE WATER PUMP FAILED RELEASING COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE, DAMAGING THE ENGINE PERMANENTLY. TRAVELING THIS ROADWAY IS USUALLY A SEMI ROUTE TO A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND FACTORIES. SEMIS DO NOT SLOW DOWN OR STOP AS QUICKLY AS A CAR AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT DO TO THE ABRUPT PULL OVER THAT WAS NECESSARY DUE TO THE MALFUNCTION.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED BUT AFTER RESEARHING THE VIN I FOUND THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE SAME ISSUES I AM HAVING. THE CAR WHILE DRIVING WILL LOSE POWER AND THE TACH WILL SHOW A RPM DROP IN SOME CASES OF ALMOST 1000 RPM. THE CAR WILL LOSE POWER AND AT TIMES AND THE TACH WILL SHOW THE RPM JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE LIKE THE COMPUTER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. ONCE I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND PUT IT BACK THE CAR WILL START TO ACT OK BUT AT TIMES I WILL HEAR A CLUNK FROM THE UNDER THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION GOING INTO GEAR. THESE ISSUES OCCUR AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, FROM CITY DRIVING TO HIGHWAY. FORD DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FIX THIS AS WELL AS CARMAX.

ON 4 OCCASIONS OVER A 2 MONTH PERIOD MY TAURUS FAILED TO ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY DUE TO WHAT HAD APPEARED TO BE THE TRACTION CONTROL POWERING DOWN THE MOTOR, MINUS ANY FLASHING LIGHTS ETC. I WOULD PULL UP TO A STOP SIGN, AND ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE AND I WOULD LOSE ALL POWER FOR APPROX 2 SECONDS AND THEN MY CAR WOULD SLAM INTO GEAR AND TAKE OFF (ALWAYS ON DRY CLEAN PAVEMENT). I AT FIRST DISMISSED THIS ISSUE TO BEING A SENSOR GOING BAD FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. I LATER FOUND THAT DURING THAT TIME SAME PERIOD THE SPEED CONTROL WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STOP WORKING AT VARIOUS PLACES AND TIMES ON STRAIGHTAWAYS OR TURNS WITHOUT REGARD TO WHAT SPEED IT WAS SET AT, HOWEVER THIS DID NOT HAPPEN TO MYSELF BUT A RELATION WHO WAS BORROWING MY CAR ON OCCASION. THE LATEST ISSUE WAS WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PULL AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT 4 NIGHTS AGO AND IT FELT LIKE EITHER MY CAR WAS IN MUCH TOO HIGH OF A GEAR, OR IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION I WOULD HAVE SWORN THAT THE CLUTCH HAD GONE BAD AND WAS SLIPPING HORRIBLY. I RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR AND PLACED THE CAR INTO MANUAL SHIFT WHILE COASTING UNDER 5MPH. MY TAURUS LURCHED AND SLAMMED INTO FIRST AND THEN WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE I PLACED IT BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT SHIFTED FINE ON ITS OWN. I'M HEADED TO THE DEALER LATER THIS WEEK AND AM HOPING TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED QUICKLY AND EASILY AFTER HAVING FOUND THE SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE ON HERE. SOON AFTER I GOT MY NEW 2010 FORD TAURUS IN MARCH OF 2010, IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY SISTER (MILEAGE UNDER 1,000 MILES). I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO TRY IT AGAIN - THE CAR RAN WELL, SO I FORGOT ABOUT THE INCIDENT. IN APRIL 2012, I AGAIN LOST POWER SUDDENLY AND COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. I PUT ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS, LEFT THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF MY ROAD WHERE IT HAD STOPPED, AND CALLED AAA TO TOW IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. SERVICE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, AND SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING THAT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL. TWICE AGAIN, THE CAR STOPPED AS I WAS DRIVING IT AND EACH TIME FORD SERVICE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THE LAST INCIDENT LEFT ME SHAKEN AS I WAS STUCK ACROSS MY ROAD, EXPOSED TO TWO-WAY TRAFFIC. AFTER THE LAST INCIDENT FORD EXAMINED THE CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS, DROVE IT HUNDREDS OF MILES AND SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY REFERRED ME TO FORD MOTOR. FORD WANTED A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. OF COURSE THE SECOND OPINION SAID ALL WAS FINE, AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. FORD MOTOR COMPANY DECLINED MY REQUEST FOR A REPLACEMENT CAR AND FOR A LOANER. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE FORD AND LEFT IT THERE. FORD ABSOLUTELY KNOWS THE DANGERS OF THIS CAR, THEY ARE WELL DOCUMENTED IN MY COMPLAINT HISTORY AND IN VARIOUS COMPLAINT VENUES ON THE INTERNET AND THEY ARE STONE WALLING VERY EFFECTIVELY. THE 2010 FORD TAURUS LOSES POWER AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AT SPEEDS WITHIN AND EXCESS OF 65 MPH. WHEN THE DEFECT OCCURS, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF, THE THROTTLE IS DEACTIVATED, THE CENTER STACK CONSOLE IS DEACTIVATED AND THE MESSAGE CENTER IN THE VEHICLE'S CLUSTER TELLS THE DRIVER TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THE DRIVER MUST THEN PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED TWICE WITHIN 45 DAYS. 5 April 2022 my 2010 Taurus SEL 3.5L engine overheated unexpectedly and the temp warning light came on my way home. I let it cool down during a heavy rain before heading home. I left the vehicle at a gas station for a couple of hours and return to bring it home (3 miles). Temp gage remain steady (3 miles) until it was parked on my driveway. The next day, I conducted an assessment to the cooling system. Reservoir was completely empty and my oil deep stick level was higher than normal 1 inch above max range. It showed coolant contamination. I read several reports about a flaw with the internal water pump design. If indeed is a flaw design or pump manufacture defect, why Ford Motor Company hasn't fix the issue or provided a solution to alleviate this flaw? ENGINE LOST POWER, CAR FILLED WITH HEAVY FUEL SMELL, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING, & STEERING WAS VERY HARD TO TURN IN TRAFFIC NEAR FORD DEALER & COASTED INTO THE SERVICE LANE. FORD SAID WRONG SPARK PLUGS INSTALLED AT FACTORY WHICH CAUSED PLUGS TO FOUL, THEN 2 INJECTORS TO LOCK WIDE OPEN, COIL PACKS RUINED, PCM BURNT UP, & SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEM. ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SHUTS DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE & WARNING SYSTEM FLASHES ON THE WINDSHIELD & SYSTEM SAYS SENSOR IS BLOCKED & THE COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE STOPPED & RESTARTED . TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS INCORRECTLY AT TIMES OR HESITATES TO RESPOND WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. FORD SYNC SYSTEM CUT ON & OFF OR DISCONNECTS FROM PHONE WHICH IS LINKED TO 911 FOR SAFETY. BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEM GIVES FALSE WARNINGS CONSTANTLY WHEN NO OTHER VEHICLES ARE NEAR & ON VARIOUS ROADS TYPES. AUTOMATIC WIPERS COME ON WHEN ITS NOT RAIN. ADAPTIVE CRUISE WILL NOT MAINTAIN THE PROPER GAPS BETWEEN VEHICLES AHEAD OF IT & DRIVER MUST TAKE CONTROL. DURING FUELING THE FUEL POURS OUT FROM THE OVERFLOW VALVE WHEN THE TANK TOPS OFF AT ANY GAS STATION. DARK QUARTER SIZE SPOT COMING UP IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR WHICH OBSCURES VISION OF OTHER VEHICLES. DUST & DIRT ENTERING THE VEHICLE AROUND THE REAR DOORS WHILE DRIVING. DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD REST SLOWLY RISES UP OVER A FEW DAYS & TOUCHES DRIVER'S HEAD & CANNOT BE SAFELY PUSHED DOWN UNTIL STOPPED. MICHELIN MXV4 TIRES 20" STARTED SEPARATING WHERE THE SIDE WALLS MEET THE TREAD. MICHELIN IMMEDIATELY REPLACED THE 4 TIRES WITHOUT QUESTION. THIS COMPLAINT IS CONCERNING THE MICHELIN TIRES THAT CAME AS OE ON THIS CAR. THE SIDEWALLS OF THESE TIRES BEGAN CRACKING THAT WAS FIRST NOTICED AT THIS DATE. THE CRACKING HAS CONTINUED TO GET WORST AND AS OF THIS DATE I FEEL THAT THE TIRES ARE CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE AND ARE NOT RELIABLE. THESE PROBLEM HAS ALSO OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE THESE TIRES ON THE SAME CARS. THIS IS A COMMON WELL KNOWN PROBLEM AMONG OWNERS OF THIS CAR EQUIPPED WITH THESE MICHELIN TIRES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE INTERIOR LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS AND THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF. THE GEAR SHIFTER COULD NOT BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK WHEN THE LIGHT FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE VEHICLE COMPUTER. THE WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT CAUSED THE COMPUTER TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

ON TWO OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED OR LOST POWER WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 20MPH APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE. THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH WHILE SET ON CRUISE CONTROL FIVE HOURS INTO A DRIVE. IN BOTH OCCURRENCES THE DISPLAY INDICATED TO PUT SHIFTER INTO PARK WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STALLED AND STILL MOVING. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STALLED THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKING WAS DISABLED. AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMAL. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM TWICE WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS CONTACTED FORD AND THEY STATE THEY AREN'T AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE. THIS IS A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION TO OCCUR WHILE TRAVELING 55MPH ON A CURVY CANYON ROAD. I'M VERY CONCERNED WITH CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD TAURUS WHICH WAS PURCHASED ON JANUARY 15, 2010. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 55 MPH, THE COLLISION WARNING SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND WITHIN ONE HALF MILE, THE VEHICLE STALLED. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, WHILE UTILIZING THE CRUISE CONTROL MECHANISM AT 65 MPH, THE "DRIVER INTERVENTION" AND "COLLISION WARNING" SYMBOLS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL MECHANISM WAS CONTROLLED BY A SENSOR AND WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO CLOSE TO A PRECEDING VEHICLE, THE CRUISE CONTROL SENSOR WOULD SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN TO AVOID A POTENTIAL CRASH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE "COLLISION WARNING" LIGHT WAS TO ADVISE THE DRIVER WHEN THIS WAS OCCURRING. THE DEALER INSTALLED A RECORDING DEVICE IN THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO UTILIZE IT THE NEXT TIME THERE WAS A FAILURE IN THE VEHICLE SO THAT THEY COULD RECORD EXACTLY WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURES. TO DATE, THE VEHICLE WAS IN POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,520.
