My electric power steering quit in August 2024 my car is not one of the recalls, but my steering went out automatically out and I could not steer the car. I had it replaced at a Ford company. I bought the part for O’Reillys had it put on in 2024 in August and turn around and had to have one put on in March 20 25 and then it has gone out again and I just got my car back last week so I’m just wondering if the very first time it went out was it a recall because I had to pay a lot of money I have it done at Wynn Odom Ford in Lagrange nc

The vehicle was driven to the residence. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 153,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the steering wheel was significantly difficult to steer and made an abnormal rubbing sound while turning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the power steering control module (PSCM) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.

The contact stated that the steering wheel was pulling to the right. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while turning left onto another road. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and transferred the contact the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 101,820.

Had gone shopping and the car suddenly had no steering. Managed to get it parked without causing a wreak, but without any warning a message appeared on the dash "Power Steering Fault". The car no longer has any steering, power steering fluid was good, no codes where shown. I have researched this before sending this message, seems there are a lot of Ford cars of various models having the same issue. The recall on the Ford Taurus shows that only certain months for the same year of car as mine 2013, are going to be covered in the recall. My car was made after the cut off month but with the SAME issues. Just wondering why only certain months were on the recall instead of the whole year?

I purchased this car April 1 2025 the car drove fine up until this past week I got in the car it had a very long crank but started and it acted as if it wasn't getting fuel. So I shut it off waited and started it back it seemed OK I went and purchased some fuel cleaner and gas it straightened out then today it done the exact same thing except it stalled on me 3 times and the last stall almost caused a wreck I was able to get it started and drove back home too scared to drove it so I started looking up problems online and seen several issues like mine that other people had and they were related to previous recalls.

Everytime I get gas the car has a hard time starting and most times after it starts it shuts down due to low idling after startup

For the last 3 days there has been a gas smell in the garage. We have driven it 2 times. 3 days ago at 17 below and yesterday at 30 below. Cannot find any leaks. Gas tank is a little over 1/2 full.

The car stalled out on the highway requiring to pull off the road, shut off, and then restart multiple times. The check engine light indicated fuel system pressure is low. There are known complaints of the fuel delivery system failing intermittently in the 2013 Taurus.

Please investigate this matter. I have reason to believe my car has a defeat, just like most 2013 police interceptor the were recalled due to code p0420. I went to AutoNation Ford Miami they said they have seen defects on my catalytic converter and I would like an investigation completed. I went to AutoNation Ford on Saturday, 12/16/2023 for the GSM IOLM System Service - 80,000 Miles Repair. The dealer believes it is a defeat, I would have to contact Ford. Therefore I am contacting NHTSA to investigate this matter. I get a service repair done on 12/16/2023 - 80,000 Miles Package Service. I brought the car to AutoNation Ford in good shape. I never had the engine light on, and the car drove great.Sunday,12/17/2023 in the morning, I wanted to go to the park, so I get in the car and unbelievably the car engine light turns on. The engine light is on for P0420 Code - Catalyst System Low Efficiency. I scheduled the appointment and drop off the car on Saturday, 12/23/2023. I spoke with the representative and told him my concerns which are the recalls and defeats on the car, And he said I would have to pay $200 for the diagnostic for the catalytic, however I told him “But I just paid to inspect the complete exhaust system and heat shields last Saturday [12/16/2023].” I went to pick up the car on Thursday 12/28/2023 in the morning, the Ford representative said the car is fine, and there is nothing wrong with the car. I say thank you and drive off. So, I am driving the car for about 5 minutes, the engine light comes on, I make a U turn and return the car to AutoNation Ford for service. The dealer say it is a defeat, I would have to contact Ford. Therefore I am contacting NHTSA to investigate this matter. My water pump started to leak at 114398 miles. The crankshaft oil seal had to be replaced. This repair because of the flawed design cost 3,245.78. I would like ford to refund the cost of the repair.

Internal water pump failure caused large amounts of pressure on the the coolant system. When I opened the hood my coolant reservoir cracked and shot hot plastic and coolant at my face.

I believe there is a an unissued recall for my Engine type. The cost to replace a water pump exceeds normal circumstances due to Ford engineers placing the water pump inside of the engine instead of outside making it a $2000 to $5000 job instead of a $200 job. Instead of a water pump simply leaking onto the ground while mounted outside of the Engine the way they have designed it it leaks into the engine and causes the engine to fail due to Engine coolant leaking into the engine through the water pump.

Car keeps throwing wrench light on and looses all power while driving. Car has been back to dealership and they can not find any issues. Researching it seems to be a big on going issue with the 13 ford vehicles. I’m going to be in a major accident with this car and I’m still paying on it.

While traveling down the highway and without warning, we lost the ability to accelerate. We had to coast over to the shoulder of the road and there was no response when pressing the gas pedal. The vehicle then began to sputter and the check engine light came on. We restarted the vehicle and the check engine light was off, and the car responded when the gas was pressed. Later on I was turning through an intersection and again the engine stopped responding. I coasted very slowly through the intersection, turned on the hazard lights and sat slightly off the road. I restarted the car several times and this time the check engine light stayed on. I checked the code and it showed "Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) system, actuator stuck open". I looked on the internet and saw that many of the 2009-13 Ford Escape owners had experienced these symptoms as well. This seems more like just a Ford problem and should be fixed by the manufacturer. Our car is a 2013 V6 Ford Taurus SEL, that has 60,000 miles on it. This so-called Limp-Mode that Ford has in place is dangerous. The engine should not completely stop responding to the pedal!

ON NIGHT OF OCTOBER 8,2019 I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE (2013 TAURUS) AND IT JUST LOST ACCELERATION. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD DUE LIMITED TRAFFIC AT THAT TIME OF NIGHT. ONCE ON ROADSIDE I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND IT RESTARTED AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE SHORT DISTANCE TO MY HOME WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I TOOK VEHICLE TO NEARBY SERVICE CENTER. THEY CHECKED FOR CODES BUT NOTHING SHOWED UP. THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY APPEARED DIRTY AND SUBSTANTIALLY HAD THEM CLEAN IT. ON OCTOBER 10 THIS TIME WHILE TRAVELING ON A HIGH AT APPROXIMATELY 55/60MPH THE VEHICLE JUST DIED AGAIN/ LOSING ALL POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR. HOW AN ACCIDENT DIDN'T OCCUR IS BEYOND ME. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE CENTER AND WHEN VEHICLE WAS STARTED THERE NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ALTHOUGH A SUBSEQUENT CHECK OF CODES THIS TIME REVEALED THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. UPON RESEARCHING ISSUE THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH VARIED IDEAS (POWERTRAIN SENSOR / THROTTLE BODY) AS TO THE CAUSE OF PROBLEM. My reverse screen camera doesn't work. The warning beeps do intermittently, but the view does not and hasn't for years. I just get a message. Sometimes if I turn the camera off and then on it resets it. I got this tip from someone at Ford. This year and make should be part of the recall.

The vehicle has remote that cuts off the car and payments are not the issue. People are passing around the remote and putting people lives in danger. The shuts off multiple times comes from a device in the exhaust. They repetitive car getting shut off for extra money to mechanic associated with latest dealership or state of Wisconsin.

My former employer Municipal Utilities/City of Poplar Bluff manager TF, added an air tag or tracking device to my [XXX] Mother's car, who is a retired DOI employee. He also remotely updated the audio system. I spoke to the service Manager at the Poplar Bluff, MO Ford dealership and he said the audio system should not be updated. When he updated the system, my Mother had to replace the battery on the car and now the audio lights on the radio stay on and the Bluetooth and wifi is constantly searching for a connection, which it did not do before TF messed with it. TF done this to my personal Chevy Malibu as well, which led to its decommission, leaving me stranded on the side of [XXX], west of Ellsinore, MO, where there was no cellphone service and in the middle of a very bad thunderstorm. TF was using said device to track me after working hours or when I was using my own personal sick/vacation time, which he and his cousin [XXX] used in my wrongful termination. About 30 minutes before I got ready to leave for lunch or get ready to leave for the day, I would watch him go to the door to make tracking device active/wake up. He was monitoring/redirecting mine and my Mother's phone calls and internet traffic as well. This is illegal as well as an invasion of privacy, that ANY ADULT should not be a part of. In my opinion it looks worse for a government employee doing it, when they know better. TF's supervisors knew what was going on too, as well as all of the girls that I worked with, but did not try to stop TF's infringement on my civil rights. This invasion of privacy started around June and continued after my termination as well. I know of 2 other former employees of the City that have had the same exact problems too. I purchased my car from a Ford dealership in 12/2020. As of 08/09/2021 my car lost power steering while driving. The power steering system failed and a warning for “Power assist fault” came on my dash. Upon trying to order and fix the part, the scan told me that my PCSM (electronic power steering) was at fault, they notified me that my car was under recall for that issue. I saw online that it is for affected vehicles 2011-2013 Ford Taurus, all engines, that experience a loss of power steering, under NHTSA campaign number 15V-340-000. I called my dealership and they said my VIN did not match the recall despite it being the exact same year, car, and issue as the affected recall. I am having the EXACT same issues as listed under the recall. This seriously affected my safety as I experienced TOTAL loss of steering suddenly, which worsens with slower speeds making it almost impossible to steer the car at all. I am lucky enough to have been in a situation where I was not harmed due to it.

THE DEALER HAS COMPLETED ALL THE RECALLS DUE TO DATE ON THE VEHICLE, BUT IS UNABLE TO REPORT THEM SO THE VEHICLE IS STILL LISTED ON NHTSA.GOV AS HAVING 1 INCOMPLETE RECALL. THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ON THE ISSUE, PROMISING THAT THE CASE WILL BE REVIEWED BY INTERNAL TEAM, THE MANUFACTURER IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION AS WELL, STATING THAT THE ALL THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED, THE DEALERSHIP GOT PAID, BUT 1 RECALL REMAINS LISTED ON NHTSA.GOV .I CANNOT USE THE VEHICLE AS INTENDED AS 1 STILL ACTIVE RECALL PROHIBITS ME FROM DOING SO. The contact's wife veered into the median and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the rear toe link was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIBRATION WAS FELT IN THE SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE LOWERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION LATERAL LINK HAD DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V072000 (SUSPENSION) AND STATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A TAURUS-SHO MODEL AND THEREFORE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,497.

I was driving, with absolutely no warning the steering wheel tightened up and wouldn’t turn. I had to take evasive actions to avoid a crash and park. My vehicle has a recall in the system but was apparently not apart of it. I am unsure exactly what part is causing the issue whether it is the electronic power steering motor or the power steering rack itself. Upon request I can provide the item for inspection. The vehicle and parts have not been assessed by any outside source.

Started my car up then put it in drive, when my traction control light turned on, and my power steering assist light also turned on my dashboard as I was driving out of my on street parking spot. I lost all power to my steering wheel , and was unable to turn it so I could attempt to safely move back over to far right lane, as I was in downtown traffic. This is so scary and terrifying. It's my second car ever which I worked really hard for. I tried to turn car off, and restart it like Google said, but it was the same loss of steering. The car is sitting at my parents house.

Was driving and my electrical power assist came on and I ran off the road twice because I had no steering. So I eventually got it home and called Ford and talked to a rep and they said there is a recall but it is VIN sensitive. But of course my vin wasn’t one in the recall. Which is crazy because it has all the symptoms as the recall but won’t cover mine. I could have been really hurt as well as my daughter and it’s just crazy if there’s a recall then it should cover all the vehicles with in the year and model. Not just certain ones especially when I have same exact symptoms as recall

While driving my vehicle at 50 mph, the power steering went out and the stability control light went off. The vehicle almost crashed. There was no water, rain, or slippage of any kind. After pulling over, shutting the car off, and restarting, did the car resume normal operation. After researching this problem, I located a recall, 15s18, which describes my exact situation. However, after contacting my local dealer they said my vehicle was not included in the recall.

On 9/26/21, I was driving my 2013 Ford Taurus on the highway, when suddenly lost power steering. Two error messages immediately appeared on the dashboard: "Service Advancetrac" and "Power Steering Fault". I managed to pull the car over safely, however this was an extremely dangerous situation that could have led to an accident. The car was brought to Watertown Ford, 26 Seyon Street, Waltham MA, 02453. The Ford technician confirmed that multiple diagnostic codes were present (related to the steering rack and PCSM - power steering control module), and indicated that the power steering rack needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,700. Upon further research, I noticed that Ford opened a recall program for 2013 Ford Taurus models pertaining to this exact issue. I called Ford, but was informed that my VIN number was not included in the recall, and did not receive an explanation why. Ford's number for this recall is 15S18. NHTSA Campiagn Number is 15V605000. I'm shocked that this was not covered under Ford's recall program, and that I was forced to pay $2,700 in order to have a completely new power steering rack installed. I'm quite fearful that this will occur again in the future. I have attached the invoice from Watertown Ford for reference.

The backup camera in my car randomly stops working. The screen will appear black when I put it in reverse and a note pops up saying “rear camera unavailable please contact dealership.” Then the next day it will work again, then go out again. It’s random but happens too frequently.

OUR 2013, 6 CYL FORD TAURUS LIMITED AWD HAS BEEN DRIVEN 67,004 FAIRLY TROUBLE-FREE MILES NEEDING ONLY ORDINARY MAINTENANCE. THE ONLY NOTABLE REPAIR WAS THE REPLACEMENT OF A FAILED FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE ABOUT SEVEN MONTHS AGO. ON THE EVENING OF JANUARY 20TH, 2019, MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING HOME AFTER COMPLETING A 40-MINUTE DRIVE. WE BRIEFLY STOPPED, WAITING FOR OUR GARAGE DOOR TO OPEN COMPLETELY AND PROCEEDED NORMALLY UP OUR DRIVEWAY, WHICH IS ON ABOUT A 10-DEGREE INCLINE. AS WE APPROACHED THE LEVEL FLOOR OF OUR GARAGE, THE MOTOR RAPIDLY REVVED UP, LUNGING THE VEHICLE FORWARD. LUCKILY, THE BRAKES HELD THE CAR BACK, WHILE THE ENGINE RACED LOUDLY AND VERY FAST. THE PROCESS OF THIS SUDDEN AND BRIEFLY CONTINUOUS ACCELERATION HAPPENED WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE ON, OR OBSTRUCTION OF THE GAS PEDAL. THE ENGINE BRIEFLY WENT INTO EVEN A HIGHER AND LOUDER RPM STATE AFTER I QUICKLY SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL, WHILE APPLYING STRONG PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. LUCKILY THE CAR WAS STOPPED SAFELY, BUT IT LEFT MY WIFE AND ME QUITE DISTRESSED AND CONCERNED. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR OUR MECHANIC TO INVESTIGATE THIS MYSTERIOUS ISSUE. IF I WERE TO SPECULATE ON THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, I WOULD VENTURE A GUESS THAT PERHAPS SOMETHING MAY NOT BE RIGHT WITH THE PROCESS THAT IS DESIGNED TO DETECT AND PREVENT ENGINE STALLING. The problem is I have a faulty backup camera that shows distorted images, the projection on the screen is upside down, and suddenly goes black, displays a warning message with black screen and a triangle caution symbol with exclamation mark. (However, it does not immediately show that warning message). With this back-up camera not properly working it poses a dangerous risk to others and myself. Luckily, I have not hit anyone yet such as a young child, or any individuals. If this were to happen it could cause serious harm and leave an individual with permeant injuries, or even life threating injuries, or death. Since the camera stopped working, I have come awful close to getting into accidents with other vehicles upon backing out of parking spots, backing into the streets, etc. Since then, I had to also replaced my passenger side mirror that I took off when suddenly the camera stopped working when I was backing out of my garage and the picture from camera immediately went black and I panic and took off my passenger side mirror by hitting the side of my garage door opening. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership, to where they repaired the passenger mirror, and I explained to them about the backup camera. The Ford dealership did their inspection and confirmed that the camera is indeed not working properly, and they advised that I needed a new Camera. However, I was told that the camera is on back order, and they have no idea when it will be available. The first time I noticed that the back-up camera was not working was early August 2022, exact date unknown. Up until this happening, things were fine and never had an issue.

8/31/22 Ford announced a rear view camera recall for foggy cloudy images resulting in a lack of functionality due to poor visibility on select vehicles and production years. That recall needs to be expanded significantly. My 2013 Taurus rear view camera has been foggy/cloudy for years making it unusable and unsafe. The Ford dealership is aware of the issue as it does not seem uncommon to the servicemen but is ridiculously expensive to fix therefore rendering the safety mechanism nonfunctional.

THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE PRESENT A HAZARD AS THEY PROVIDE LITTLE TO NO PERIPHERAL LIGHT. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE EQUIPPED WITH ONLY ONE BULB PER SIDE WHICH PROVIDES LIGHT STRAIGHT AHEAD BUT VERY LITTLE LIGHT TO THE SIDE. THUS WHEN ONE MAKES A TURN ONTO ANOTHER ROAD ONE CANNOT SEE THE ROAD BEING TURNED ON PRIOR TO THE TURN. I AM PUTTING A DATE IN BELOW ONLY BECAUSE IT IS REQUIRED.

OUR DEPARTMENT'S FLEET OF 2013 AND 2015 INTERCEPTORS HAVE EXPERIENCED TEPEATED HEADLIGHT FAILURES. NO RECALL FOUND FOR THIS PROBLEM. PROBLEMS BEGAN AS VEHICLES SURPASSED WARRANTY LIMITS. ONE SERVICED AT THE DEALER AND THE WIRE HARNESS HAD BURNED UP AND NEEDED REPLACED, AS WELL AS THE BCM NEEDED REPROGRAMMING. ONE HOUR INTO USE AFTER SERVICE THE SAME HEADLIGHT FAILED AGAIN. EACH 2013 MODEL HAS HAD HEADLIGHTS REPLACED AT LEAST TWICE AND THE 2015'S ARE INCREASING IN FAILURE RATE. THE SERVICE COST WAS OVER $500. THE ESTIMATED REPROGRAMMING COST WAS QUOTED AT $250. THE ABSENCE OF A RECALL WILL RESULT IN RIDICULOUS COST OVERRUNS IN MAINTENANCE BUDGETS.

THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUES THE DESIGN OF THE HALOGEN HEADLIGHT LAMP SYSTEM ON THIS CAR DOES NOT GIVE OUT ENOUGH LIGHT. MY LIGHTS ONLY FOCUS IN ONE SPOT WITH LIGHT AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS DARK. HEADLIGHT SYSTEM IS POOR ON LOW BEAM. THERE IS A HORIZONTAL LINE MAKING DEFINITE DIVISION IN VISIBILITY THAT EXTENDS ACROSS THE COMPLETE HORIZONTAL LINE OF VISION. GOING TO HIGH BEAMS STOPS ELIMINATES IT. I NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT AS I CANNOT SEE WELL ON LOW BEAMS. THE SAME THING IS REPORTED BY MANY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. While driving to work in my 2013 Ford Taurus I went to take a left and the power steering was suddenly gone and the steering wheel was hard to turn. I nearly hit another car and had to brake hard to miss it. I parked at work and after work I started the car and it was fine until about a mile before I got home. Then it happened again and I could hear a scraping like sound when I turned. The steering became very jerky and resistant at lower speeds but I never got a warning light or message. I brought the vehicle in to an independent mechanic, where it was discovered that the power steering control module (PSCM) had failed and needed to be replaced as well as the rack and pinion. I looked into recalls for the 2013 steering issue and found one but was told my VIN wasn't included. WHY NOT?? I have seen over 600 complaints in regard to this! When are you going to do something about this? AFTER SOMEONE DIES???? How many complaints need to be made before something gets done????

The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the front suspension was bouncing every time the contact drove or any deformity in the road surface. The contact had taken the vehicle to another independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the driver’s and passenger’s side shock absorbers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact reported that the failure had reoccurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

On 7/31/2022, and also about a month ago, my 2013 Ford Taurus Limited stalled out while driving and the wrench light came on. The car limped along until I could pull it over, but this could have been serious as I was on the highway doing 65mph just 2 minutes prior to it. It stalled coming up the upramp here in Phoenix. I got it into the parking lot, and gave it gas and nothing at all, the engine just sputtered as the wrench light was on. I turned it off for 2 minutes, and restarted and able to get home 4 minutes away. This is the 2nd time this has now happened, and this is a huge safety concern. Ford Taurus had recalls on the Powertrain Control Module for other years of the Taurus, but I do not want to pay for this fix as this is a Ford safety issue for my model year 2013. I could have caused an accident on the highway if this stalled like this. Who do I contact to get this looked at. I can almost guarantee it is the powertrain control module as I see it online recalled and exact same issues. This car onl has 70k miles on it and in great condition, serviced all the time. Please let me know whom I may contact to resolve this safety issue? Should I call my local Ford dealership, but I think they charge $200 for scan of the car. Thank yo for your time. VEHICLE QUIT ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING DOWN A PAVED 45 MPH ROAD, WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED ON THE DASH AND ENGINE RAN ROUGH. ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL THE WRENCH SYMBOL INDICATES THAT THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND IT STARTED AND RAN NORMAL FOR HIM. THERE WERE NO ACTIVE, PENDING,OR MEMORY CODES IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. IT WAS DRIVEN 50 MILES WITH NO OTHER PROBLEM OCCURRING DURING THE TEST DRIVES. THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MANY DOCUMENTED CASES OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING TO A DR APPTOINTMENT I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN THE CAR STALLED, I LOST ACCELERATION AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME APPEARED. FORTUNATELY I WAS NEAR AN EXIT WHERE I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY, AND FIND A GAS STATION, AS I IDLED INTO THE GAS STATION AT ABOUT 2-3 MPH. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT, AND OPERATION RETURNED TO NORMAL FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN TODAY, AS I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND WAS IN THE TURNING LANE TO ENTER THE FREEWAY IT DID THE SAME THING, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE IN A SPAN OF 15 MILES. AGAIN FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. OUT OF FEAR I TOOK ALL BACK ROADS HOME INCASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WHICH IT DID. I FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE SAYING THERE IS A FAULT WITH THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM THAT SEEMS TO FIT THE BILL, EXCEPT THE MOTOR IN MY TAURUS IS NOT THE SAME ONE LISTED ON THE RECALL. REGARDLESS, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS PUT MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN IN HARMS WAY 3 TIMES IN ONE WEEK, AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I SPEND AN GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT I FEEL IS SAFE AND RELIABLE, AND I FEEL NEITHER AT THIS POINT FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS BUT 4 YEARS OLD.

NOVEMBER 2015, THE ROTORS WERE CUT. JUNE 2016, ENTIRE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME. APRIL 20, 2017, CAR IS CURRENTLY AT A FORD SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE ENTIRE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I ASKED FOR THE WARRANTY TO BE EXTENDED BUT WAS TOLD BY FORD'S CUSTOMER CARE TODAY THAT FORD "GRACIOUSLY" EXTENDED THE INITIAL WARRANTY TO 77,000 MILES AND CAN DO NOTHING FURTHER FOR ME WITH REGARD TO THIS MATTER.

In March of 2025 my vehicles driver assist lights started blinking coming out of my apt complex and within 15 seconds I couldn't even turn the wheels at all. Ive had several mechanics run their computer to diagnose the issue and was told that this make model and year has a recall for loss of steering which is an electrical issue. I called Ford themselves and they refused to even look at my car. I cannot find a mechanic who will even repair this electrical issue. Car is in perfect condition. Just replaced all 4 tires in January 2025 and oil change.

Just recently, my power steering started to fail when it’s in ‘S’ gear (I just started using it a few weeks ago). The steering wheel gets catchy and can be difficult to control, especially going around corners. It’s intermittent and it didn’t start until I started to use the ‘S’ gear. I had the power steering checked by a mechanic and they said it’s functioning properly. I do believe my car should be included in this recall before the steering goes out and something catastrophic happens. By the way, now that I’ve stopped using the ‘S’ gear, the glitchy steering issue has subsided.

I DID A BUNCH OF RESEARCH ON 2013 FORD TAURUS AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER TUER BUT MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED. I READ IN SEVERAL FORUMS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO HUNDREDS OF OTHER WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL, ALL TYPICALLY HAPPENING IN THE 80K -100K MILEAGE. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE BY MYSELF AND THE DEALER TO DOING THE REPAIR TO GET ASSISTANCE AND I WAS JUST GIVEN THE RUN AROUND OVER AND OVER, EVERY PERSON I SPOKE TO HAD A DIFFERENT ANSWER OR INFORMATION. THE DEALER NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER, SO I PAID THE $3100 IN FULL. I CONFIRMED WITH THE DEALER THIS WAS THE EXACT PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN RECALL 15V340000 THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THEY MISSED A LARGE SECTION OF VIN'S THAT WERE AFFECTED AND WE ARE HAVING TO PAY TO REPLACE THE PARTS OR OUR VEHICLES ARE JUST LEFT UN ABLE TO DRIVE.

THEY (FORD) EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE NOTIFICATION WAS SENT TO A PREVIOUS OWNER AND NOT ME (I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE 2016). Purchased vehicle on 10/06/2022. Within a week noticed surging and /or loss of power. I also smelled buring of some sort. Contacted the dealership and tried to make arrangements for car to be diagnosed and repaired. Codes began to show on the dash. When I took it to be read it showed throttle issues. On 10/18/2022 I was at a complete stop at a stop sign. When I released the brake and touched the gas the car unexpectedly sured at high speed on its own. My vehicle hit another vehicle causing major damage to both cars. It was extremely terrifying having my car take off at a high rate of speed without me in control. This now has caused tremendous hardship financially, Emotionally and I now have legal issues due to this accident that was no fault of my own.

The car is stopping when at idle and at times will loose full power when driving down the road. We have replaced the mass air flow sensor, cleaned the mass flow uptake, and replaced the fuel pump driver module. We bought this vehicle from Turnpike Ford in Huntington. The 3rd party warranty showing on my loan agreement was bumper to bumper 7 years or 72,000 miles however the warranty paper stated 3 years or 36,000 miles. We have tried working with Todd Judy but they refuse to honor the warranty so my car has not been able to be repaired. They advised me I needed a new motor and transmission. We need this issue resolved it’s a high risk for us when driving the vehicle and these repairs should not be coming out of our pocket.

The backup camera has failed. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I have seen other reports on NHTSA here specifying the same problem. Visibility in this car is poor and is augmented by the backup camera. Car serviced by ford dealerships only. If left unrepaired, other drivers of this make and model 2013-2019 Taurus have an increased susceptibility to collisions.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was white-colored smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact replenished the coolant fluid soon after noticing the smoke. The following day, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became firm, and excessive force was needed to turn the steering wheel. The “Power Steering Assist” message was displayed on the instrument panel. Two unknown dealers were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); and linked the failure to the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was significant play and vibration in the steering wheel, and the vehicle was pulling to one side. The contact stated that the traction control warning light illuminated when the steering wheel was completely steered to the right or to the left. The contact also stated that The TPMS warning light remained illuminated even though the tires were fully inflated. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the steering gear had failed. The mechanic determined that both the steering gear and the ball joint needed to be replaced. The mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I’m not having any success with my local Ford Dealership or with Ford Customer Service getting my car covered under the Customer Satisfaction Program. I have fuel system issues, I need to replace both cats and 2 bad sensors, halfshaft, fuel system, and braking issues. The dealership said to contact Ford and Ford says it’s the dealership’s problem. If they don’t fix it, I’m done with Ford. If they can’t stand behind their products and their dealerships won’t help the customers, then my loyalty is done. I’ve already had to replace a poorly designed PTU at my expense and now this, buyer beware on Interceptors. Let’s hope I don’t have any other issues. No one seems to be willing to help and I’m beyond frustrated with this experience.

Please allow submission of additional information regarding issues with my 2013 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor. As stated on the previous complaint filed on 1/9/2024, I got my car service at AutoNation Ford Service Center on 12/16/2023, and I brought it back to the service center on Saturday, 12/23/2023 because of the car’s poor performance and engine had laminated on 12/17/2023. I went to pick up the car on Thursday 12/28/2023 in the morning, the Ford representative said the car is fine, and there is nothing wrong with the car. I say thank you and drive off. So, I am driving the car for about 5 minutes, it feels sluggish. Then the engine light comes on, I make a U turn and return the car to AutoNation Ford for service. As things stand now, my car is still AutoNation Ford service center, due to the defects which are causing poor performance while driving the 2013 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor, issues such as: Rough Steering, Bad Ignition Switch, and braking issue. Per my previous statement, I drove the car for about on 12/28/2023, it felt extremely sluggish. The hard shifting in vehicle, and steering wheel was rough . The brakes have more issues than normal. The engine light came on.

I was in a right hand curve and it felt like my wheel flipped to one side. My steering felt loose. I took it to the shop and had them inspect it. Nothing was wrong with my suspension. I continued to drive it. My steering became even more loose and sloppy. I was struggling to stay in my lane due to the loosened steering. I have had it checked many times and nothing. When it rains I am jerked all over the road from water. It feels like my tires are being pulled in opposite directions at the same time while I am slung into on coming traffic.

I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL SHOP FOR LOWER CONTROL ARMS. THE SHOP MANAGER CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR. SO I TRIED TO CONTACT 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS. NEITHER ONE WANTS TO EVEN LOOK AT IT. THE DEALERSHIPS WANTED OVER $150 TO LOOK AT THE RECALL ISSUE. I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE STEERING. THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. MY CAR IS A 2013 AND HAS AROUND 143,000 MILES ON IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT MANUAL FORCE, THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000...UPDATED 12-24-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE RADIO AND NAVIGATIONS SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING.

SUNROOF VIBRATION WITH SUNROOF OPEN ALL THE WAY WITH BACK WINDOWS CRACKED ABOUT AN INCH. VIBRATION IS SO BAD THAT YOU CAN NO SEE OUT OF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. YOU CAN REACH UP AND TOUCH THE SUNROOF DEFLECTOR AND THE VIBRATION WILL STOP. I FEEL THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WHEN THE VIBRATION IS HAPPENING. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VIBRATION IS TO ROLL ALL OF THE WINDOWS DOWN. MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR THE MOST AND WILL NOT LET THE WINDOWS ALL THE WAY DOWN WHEN SHE IS RIDING ON INTERSTATE. ON SATURDAY, AUG 17TH, OUR 2013 FORD TAURUS POLICE INTERCEPTOR (SEDAN) VIN:[XXX] WAS STOPPED AT A PLACE OF BUSINESS AND TURNED OFF. INITIALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE VEHICLE STARTED BUT WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REMOVED FROM THE PREMISES BY A WRECKER AND TAKEN TO GRIFFIN FORD CO IN THOMASVILLE, GA. THIS DATE, AUG. 22, 2013, I SPOKE WITH A SERVICEMAN AT GRIFFIN FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT WHEEL AXLE HAD BROKEN AND THAT THE REPAIR PART WOULD BE BACK-ORDERED (PLACED ON AN EMERGENCY NEED BASIS), BUT NO REPAIR TIME FRAME COULD BE GIVEN DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE WERE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS IN THE COUNTRY. WE HAVE HAD PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH BOTH OF OUR (ABOVE VIN # AND VIN:[XXX]) 2013 FORD TAURUS POLICE VEHICLES WITH THE PROBLEMS PREVIOUS TO THIS BEING EXCESSIVE GAS FUMES WITHIN BOTH VEHICLES (FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED BEFORE RECALL WAS ISSUED ON BOTH CARS BUT AFTER RECEIVING RECALL, FUEL PUMPS WERE AGAIN REPLACED), CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON (EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SOLENOID WAS REPLACED, AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON, SEAT BELT SENSOR WAS BAD AND THE BUCKLE/SENSOR WAS REPLACED. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED THIS YEAR. AS YOU ARE AWARE, ALL REPAIRS TAKE TIME AND WE ARE ESPECIALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE TIME FRAME TO RECEIVE AND REPAIR THE WHEEL AXLE.
