Power steering system failed. Internal electrical motor and / or steering angle sensor failed as diagnosed using scanning software. Failure results in requiring extreme effort to turn the steering wheel causing an unsafe situation. At low speeds, steering is nearly impossible and the steering wheel itself stresses to a point which causes concern of additional mechanical failure. Vehicle has less than 100,000 miles of use. All heat generated by the engine, transmission, turbocharger and catalytic converter are transferred to air which flows over the power steering assembly which is located directly behind all of these components in the engine bay. Ford has recalls on this steering assemble on previous year vehicles. The solution for preceding vehicles was adding a heat shield to the power steering assembly. The heat shield helps block radiative heat from the catalytic converter but is insufficient in preventing convective heat transfer to the power steering assembly’s electronics. The result is internal electrical failure of the power steering assembly. A smaller person may not be able to control the vehicle upon failure.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the steering wheel became stiff. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the steering gear box had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened; however, the manufacturer offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The failure mileage was approximately 32,600. The contact stated that their vehicle had low mileage and was also manufactured in 2013 therefore it should've been repaired under the recall.

While traveling at 55 MPH, entered a curve my steering completely locked up causing me to collide with the guard rail. Not only was I put in danger but everyone traveling Kentucky 114 that day was as well. There have been several complaints on the same make and model cars and Ford has done nothing to correct it. There was no warning lights no anything. My car was total and my life was at risk, when Ford was well aware of the steering problems.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver saw no flames nor smoke. The driver stated that the vehicle began to steer to the right but she was able to safely park in a nearby parking lot. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact took the vehicle to independent mechanic and made the mechanic aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,300.

The engine light came on and was scanned for engine code P0430 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2). Upon further research, it appears that a catalytic converter has started failing. I was able to clean the catalytic converter, but they are very expensive to replace. Ford issued an extended warranty for this part, but did not issue a recall, despite this being an issue on multiple vehicles. This warranty is 10 years on the Police Interceptor Sedan (Taurus Platform), and 11 years on the Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer Platform). My car's mileage was at approximately 103,000 miles when the light came on. Both warranties extend to 120,000 miles, and my car was two months older than 10 years when this occurred. I contacted Ford through multiple avenues, even writing a letter to Ford Consumer Affairs, and they all declined to extend their warranties to the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan despite the fact that it is identical to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility when it comes to the engine, transmission, PTU, and all components related to those parts, including the catalytic converter. This is a known issue that should have been a recall in the first place, but Ford should at least have the same warranty issued to both cars as the part and failure of said part are identical. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys contacted Ford and told them to extend this warranty to 11 years to match the warranty for the Police Interceptor Utility. On 2 occasions in October 2023 my 2014 Ford Taurus would not start after cranking. Once the engine had been warm. The 2nd time approximately 2 weeks later, it was cold and had to be towed to Ford dealer. After the dealer said it was the fuel pump driver module needing replacement, it appears this was a known problem (see below from Ford website); however, mine was not recalled. Mine came from the Chicago factory as well. This should be replaced at no charge to me, including the tow fee. Total $602.90 should be reimbursed. "DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 24, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing two safety recalls and one safety compliance recall in North America. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall for certain 2013-15 Ford and Lincoln vehicles to replace fuel pump control modules Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 86,000 2013-15 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles with 3.5-liter gasoline turbocharged direct injection engines, as well as Ford Police Interceptor sedans to replace fuel pump control modules. In the affected vehicles, the fuel pump control module could fail, which may cause an engine to not start or stall. In some cases, the engine could stall without warning while driving and without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue. Affected vehicles include: 2013-15 Ford Taurus with 3.5-liter gasoline turbocharged direct injection engine built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Aug. 25, 2011 to May 31, 2015"

The fuel pump control module [XXX] ) failed suddenly and the car failed to drive, I am not driving fast and able to pull over safely. I bought the part part from Ford dealer and replaced the old one, then the problem is fixed. However, as this part fails suddenly and the failing will result in immediate engine stop, it is a safety issue and I shall report it. Vehicle will crank but will not start. Mechanic looked at it and said the module is bad and needs replaced. When replaced, vehicle started fine. There is a recall for this but it is not for my engine type.

The backup camera will sometimes produce a grainy image or prompt a warning the camera isn't working. This issue has been noticed for other vehicles and issued a recall for the Ford Taurus but doesn't cover my vehicles year, 2014. The 2015 recall affects 2015 and later tauruses, 25V695000.

The rearview camera system intermittently fails to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. At times, the screen remains black or frozen instead of showing the live rear view. The camera and wiring are still installed and available for inspection upon request. When the rearview camera fails, I cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing. This creates a risk of collision with objects, other vehicles, or pedestrians—particularly in driveways, parking lots, or areas where children or pedestrians may be behind the car. The lack of a working camera significantly reduces rear visibility and situational awareness. The issue occurs intermittently, and while I have experienced it multiple times, it has not yet been officially diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or service center. However, I have learned that similar camera failures have been recalled for the same make and model from 2015–2025, which suggests the 2014 model may also be affected by the same defect. No, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives specifically for this issue, but it is available for inspection if needed. There were no warning lamps, error messages, or prior indications before the failure. The issue began occurring a month ago and has continued intermittently since then without warning.

Ford recalls vehicles due to issue with rearview cameras, because their rearview cameras can go blank or display a distorted image. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this a safety issue. I have a 2014 Ford Taurus SEL with the rearview camera can blank and give me a msg to contact my dealer or display a distored image. I have contacted Ford on this problem and they responded with they will note it. I feel that since this is a safet concern that my vehicle should be included in the recall. My vehicle only has approx 52,000 miles on it.

Ford has just announced a recall for certain model year Taurus and Fusion vehicles regarding malfuntion of the backup camera. My 2014 Taurus is not included in the recall, notwithstanding the fact that it exhibits the same malfuntioning characteristics as those included in the recall: sometimes presenting a black screen, sometimes presenting an upsidedown image, and occasionally presenting a correct image. The camera began exhibiting these characteristics about four years ago. I believe that the recall population should be extended to include the 2014 Taurus.

During my vacation in the USA 2014 i bought the used car with the named VIN. The car was exported from the USA to Switzerland. He is still in service until today. The car is not listed in your database. I can't imagine, that this car escapes from the "screen", after exporting, like "out of sight, out of mind". I am aware of various recalls for this type of vehicle and i suspect that my vehicle is one of them. There has not been an incident so far, but why am I not hearing anything? The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle failed to immediately start-up. The vehicle was later driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The fuel pump control module was replaced but after retrieving the vehicle, while driving approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle stalled. During the failure, the message "Check Fuel Inlet" was displayed. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. A FAULT DEVELOPED IN THE WIRING LEADING FROM THE DASH BUTTON FOR THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER AND THE DEFROSTER ITSELF. THE FORD REPAIR SHOP TRACED THE FAULT TO A FOUR FOOT AREA BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR. REWIRING OF THE SHORTED OUT WIRE WAS REQUIRED. THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION TO WHAT CAUSED THE SHORT OTHER THAN POTENTIAL FACTORY FAULT.

My 2014 Ford Taurus SEL transmission when driving and when the shifting begins, the car shudders in 3rd and 4th gear, when it passes the 4 gears, then the vehicle runs smooth. I would like to report this because this is not normal for a transmission to do this. I do not believe it is a Torque converter. Ford Dealership said it was a Torque Converter. I took it to Aamco Transmission and had it looked at and the person that worked on it, he did not believe it was a Torque Converter. I had Aamco to check this and all they did was changed my Transmission Fluid. The problem came back. I believe this is a defect in the Transmission. I did some research and come to believe it is the body valves inside the Transmission causing this problem. I am sure this could be a safety hazard to me while driving. I believe the Transmission could lock up and cause a crash. I will upload the work order. This has been going on since March 2023 and I have no solution to this problem. I wanted to see if you can help with this problem and get it recalled.

I TOOK MY 2014 FORD TAURUS POLICE INTERCEPTOR TO BOGGUS FORD IN HARLINGEN, TX. FOR A RECALL ON A FUEL PUMP SENSOR WHICH THE DEALER SAID WOULD COST NOTHING TO REPLACE. I HAD TO BUY THE PART AND INSTALL IT TO GET THE VEHICLE THERE. DUMB, I KNOW, BUT IT WAS CHEAPER THAN A TOW TRUCK AND I WANTED IT CORRECTED BY THE DEALER FOR SAFETY PURPOSES. DURING THE DRIVE THERE I NOTICED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON SO I REPORTED IT. I ALSO REPORTED TO THEM THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATES, OR JERKS, WHEN DRIVING AT LOW TO MODERATE SPEEDS. THEY CORRECTED THE RECALL AND CHARGED ME $145.00 FOR ANOTHER SENSOR THEY CLAIMED WAS CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AND THE CAR TO JERK LIKE IT WAS. I DROVE OFF AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THEM AND THEY WAITED 2 DAYS TO TELL ME THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND DRIVING JUST FINE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH THE MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION WHEN THEIR TECHNICIAN DROVE IT. I ASKED HIM TO RIDE WITH ME IN THE CAR AND AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING HE HAD ME PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF SO THAT HE COULD "CLEAR ALL CODES WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION." THE PROBLEM CONTINUED SO THEY TALKED ME INTO TAKING THE CAR HOME TO "SEE IF ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON" DURING REGULAR USE. AFTER DOING SO, TO NO AVAIL, THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS TRANSMISSION RELATED AND IT WOULD COST ANOTHER $100.00 JUST TO LOOK AT. I DON'T MIND PAYING THE FEE FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT I'M HESITANT TO TAKE IT BACK TO THEM IF I MAY BE CHARGED FOR ITEMS NOT RELATED TO THE ISSUE. I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO DO RESEARCH ONLINE AND I HAVE FOUND OTHERS WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM THAT TURNED OUT TO BE A SOLENOID IN THE TRANSMISSION. WONDERING WHY THIS PART HASN'T BEEN RECALLED IF IT COULD DEEM THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ALSO, THERE IS NO DIPSTICK TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID OTHERWISE I WOULD HAPPILY CHECK IT MYSELF.

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY LIMITED DURING NIGHT DRIVING. THERE IS A VERY DEFINED LINE BETWEEN PROJECTED LIGHT AND SURROUNDING DARKNESS. BECAUSE DEALER WAS CLOSE TO MY JOB, BUT FAR FROM MY HOME, I HAD CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RACK & PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD A FEW 2013 CARS HAD THE SAME ISSUE, BUT NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE ON ANY OTHER 2014 FORDS. Pulling into my personal parking space I applied brake to slow down and come to a complete stop. Car accelerated to an uncontrollable speed, jumped the curb and continued flying whe I constantly applied brakes (approximately 40 yrds) missing the 100 yr old oaks and palm trees. This occurred beginning of July 2022. Happened again 1 week ago as I was pulling into parking space directly behind a parked car. As I approached parking space with my break slowing me down to enter spot the car accelerated as above. Thin time I was able to swerve left to avoid slamming into the car in the parking space which was in front of me. Thank God there were no cars at that the on the road.

THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES CRANK BUT WILL NOT START. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN ON HOT DAYS AND WHEN PARKED WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE TOWARDS THE SUN. THE LOCAL DEALER IS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THE DEALER FROM 6/8/2018-6/20/2018 AND THE CAR ONLY FAILED TO START ONE TIME AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE REASON. SINCE PICKING THE CAR UP IT HAS FAILED TO START THREE TIMES. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. I PULLED THE RELAY FROM OUR CAR AND IT IS THE SAME ONE THAT HAS A RECALL EXCEPT OURS IS ON A TAURUS LIMITED NOT THE SHO. Driving down CR 230 in Wyoming, the situation started if I have to estimate, 7 miles west of Woods Landing, I heard a metal on metal grinding noise from the engine bay, and a loss of power on the throttle. I look at my RPM gauge and notice it is a zero. No check engine light, all electronics working as normal along with the brakes, and I slow the vehicle down to 30 MPH. Shortly after noticing, I get a "Check Brake System" flash on my instrument panel cluster, also the light which illuminates for my parking brake turns on, and I lose power brakes, the brake pedal turned extremely stiff. I immediately look for a pull off zone, but because I had lost brakes I did not want to risk keeping the vehicle moving. I get the vehicle stopped on the side of the road, and instantly put it in park along with the parking brake and shut the vehicle off. The vehicle would not start or crank, just a flash across all of the electronics, the lights go dark, then illuminate again as if normal. This is an extremely dangerous situation, the vehicle had not notified me that the motor had stopped turning; not a check engine light or ring at all, and shortly after that the power brakes stop working. This is very dangerous for motorists because of the lack of notification from the vehicle, and the incredibly weak breaking ability. If the vehicle had been moving at highway speeds, any sort of traffic, I could've ended up injured or dead, and even worse, killed another driver. The vehicle was towed to the nearest town where it would be inspected by a dealership; they reported to have found coolant in the oil and that the vehicle needed a new motor. No other details have been confirmed, and the problem has not been reproduced by the dealership. It is unknown if the dealership inspected the braking system.

Please note that from the time i purchased the vehicle brand new the doors and roof have leaked. The same garage has continued to try and glue the molding in the outside. Now the back window area had the cloth sagging down. I was told it was a design problem and that the police car taurus was experiencing the same problems. After having a problem trying to steer the vehicle,I pulled over to the side of the road and put the car in park. Suddenly the Steering Assist notification appeared and I could not move the steering wheel. I had the car towed to the Ford Garage that services my car. Upon checking all available literature on the 2014 Taurus the failure of the steering is a common problem. Ford has recalled Taurus models up to the year 2013 but not 2014.. I contacted Ford and they gave me a case number to document my concern in the event of a Ford issued recall. How many complaints do they need before the problem is corrected by Ford and not the consumer spending up to 4000. To fix the problem. Perhaps it is a design defect.

The fuel pump is fluctuating and the car is a danger to myself and those around me. I consulted with a independent licensed mechanic who confirmed these defaults. No warning lights no messages and the dealer did not point out these flaws. I discovered this issue after getting some routine maintenance done on the vehicle

Water pump failure causing a major leak. Because the vehicle is designed to have the water pump run on the timing chain and the oil pan right underneath the water pump, the coolant leaks right into the oil pan and coolant enters the engine. I was driving on a back road and had to abruptly pull over on the side of the road because the driver assist screen said “engine coolant overheating.” This was the first and only time this message appeared. There was smoke coming from under the hood. Numerous mechanics that I’ve spoken to said that if I drove it any longer, there’s a good chance the engine could blow. So now I’m looking at a $3,000+ repair for this. Realistically, any other make and model (that was designed with common sense) with a failed water pump should cost $500-1,000. And won’t run the risk of ruining your engine on top of it. I spoke to several Ford dealers and third party mechanics. Every one of them knew exactly what I was talking about like they had seen this many times before. The third party mechanics refused to fix it because it’s an 11+ hour labor None of them said there are any pro’s to having the water pump connected to the timing chain. But there are many con’s to this design. Sounds like negligence on behalf of the engineers who designed all the 3.5L and 3.7L V6’s in the Fords. Luckily, I was going between 20-30 mph on a backroad when this occurred. Otherwise, this could have ended very badly and I’d like to prevent this from happening to anyone else in the future.

On 3/8/23 I was attempting to turn around on a residential street. I put my car in reverse and started turning steering wheel to the right when suddenly there was a loud pop and my steering wheel tighted up and I could barely turn it. IThen when I put in drive it stated rattling everywhere. I almost hit another car trying to turn in a drive cause couldn't turn. With in an hour the check engine power assist and traction control came lost blinkers and if I tried to gas it it would baulk I eventually got it home but every time I had to change gears drive to reverse it made a loud noise as if the bottom just fell out. My car has 5 recalls none have been fixed and Ford said my car had no recalls said mechanic but first lady agreed there was one. But they are refusing to fix it or even acknowledge that there is a recall. The mechanic was very short and rude with me. And then said to take it up with Ford Customer Service. I've only had my car for 6 months and now am out of car and in danger of loosing my two jobs. 64 of the 153 complaints all have to do with the exact problems I have with steering then the axel. This needs to be investigated cause had I lost power steering suddenly when making that turn someone could have been seriously injured if not killed. Thankfully I lost it while at a stoping point and was able to compensate for the lack of steering. However my back my shoulders and my hands have all been damaged due to trying to control my car. Who should I call to have recalls fixed since Ford is denying there's even a recall. I've emailed CarMax no response and emailed Ford CEO but mail came back

Without any warning or warning lights the electronic power steering system failed, and the turn signal will not remain on unless held manually (new problem that started when the power steering failed). It is very hard to turn without it, and I am a strong man, it's nearly impossible to turn with one hand so the turn signal can also be operated. Only 39000 miles on the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated, lost motive power and stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver coasted to the side of the road, inspected the vehicle, and became aware of coolant leaking underneath the vehicle. The driver was able to add coolant to the reservoir, restarted the vehicle, and drove to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the water pump and timing chain had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for assistance. The dealer diagnosed that the water pump and timing chain needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 163,000.

On the 24th February, 2022, I was driving my 2014 Ford Taurus taxi cab on the highway to go pick up a client. I saw a dash light indicating slippery road and suddenly, I could not control the steering of the car. All attempts to control the steering proved futile, and the car kept swerving on both sides, till it hit the divider between the roads. This is the second time that this incident is happening to me. The first incident resulted to a minor damage, and the car was taken to the shop for fix. With the second incident from last month, this resulted to my car being totaled. I am lucky and grateful to be alive. I spoke to my son and learned that there was a recall on the 2014 Ford Taurus. WE WERE RETURNING TO OUR FARM FROM A TRIP TO TOWN. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT THE 70MPH SPEED LIMIT. A RECENT CONSTRUCTION PROJECT GAVE US A NEWLY PAVED ROAD. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY WITH NO WIND AND TEMPS IN THE LOW 80'S. WE WERE ENJOYING THE RIDE AND NOTED WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT THE NEWLY PAVED ROAD WAS. WITHOUT WARNING THE TIRES BEGAN SQUEALING AND THE CONTROL CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR TAURUS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY. THE STEERING BECAME LABORED (I BELIEVE FROM THE AUTOMATED ANTI LOCK AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGAGEDING). MY ATTEMPT TO COMPENSATE FOR THE VIOLENT CHANGE IN VEHICLE OPERATION AND REGAIN CONTROL WERE QUICKLY FUTILE. WE SUCCUMBED TO THE LAWS OF MOTION SPINNING HOPELESSLY OUT OF CONTROL ACROSS THE ONCOMING LANE INTO THE OPPOSITE DITCH AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. MIRACULOUSLY WE THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WE DIDN'T PLUNGE INTO THE MYRIAD OF STEEP TERRAIN CONDITIONS COMMON ON THIS STRETCH OF HIGHWAY. WE DID NOT ROLL BUT CAME VIOLENTLY TO REST ON THE FAR UPSLOPE OF THE OPPOSITE ROADSIDE DITCH. OCCURS EVERY 2000 TO 3000 MILES WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO STOP. AS I GET NEAR THE IDLE SPEED (2-3 MPH) WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE THE ENGINE STARTS TO REV UP AND PULL THE CAR FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARMAX (16110 NORTH FWY, HOUSTON, TX) WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.

SOMETIME IN MARCH 2019 MY CAR DIDNT WANT TO START.IT HAD BEEN PARKED OVER NIGHT AT MY HOUSE. I TRIED TO START IT AND IT JUST KEPT TURNING OVER BUT NO START. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE BATTERY. I WAS CHARGED ABOUT $185 TO BUY ANOTHER BATTERY. THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL MAY 2, 2019 IT WAS PARKED AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AND HAD TO LEAVE IT THERE OVER NIGHT AND HAVE IT TOWED THE NEXT MORNING TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE WANTED TO CHARGE ME $400 TO GET IT REPLACED. MY ARGUEMENT IS I COULD OF SAVED $185 ON A BATTERY THAT DIDNT NEED REPLACING AND 2 MONTHS LATER THEY WANTED ME TO DITCH OUT MORE MONEY. I HAD TO ARGUEMENT WITH THEM FOR SEVERAL HOURS. TILL THE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF THE COST. BUT IT SHOULDNT HAD LEAD TO THAT. I KNOW SEVERAL FORD TAURUS HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT MY VIN NUMBER. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY WHEN THEY ARE ALL FORDS TAURUS 2014 AND THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO RIVERS FORD (76 BELINDA PKWY, MT JULIET, TN 37122, (800) 900-1000) WHERE AN ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED, BUT NO FAILURE WITH THE TIRES COULD BE DETECTED. AIR WAS ADDED TO THE TIRES AS A PRECAUTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR WOULD PERIODICALLY ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FAILED CAUSING ENGINE TO STALL AND NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. FORTUNATELY AT THE TIME I WAS AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IDLING, HOWEVER I WAS 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. PARKED CAR, AND PURCHASED REPLACEMENT FUEL MODULE FROM FORD DEALER AND ABLE TO GET CAR RUNNING AGAIN. FORD HAS ISSUED RECALL 16S31, HOWEVER MY '14 TAURUS WITH A NATURALLY ASPIRATED 3.5L IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. PART NUMBER OF THE MODULE IS AA8A-9D412-CA AND SUPPLIER CODE DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE ONE OF THE STATED SUPPLIERS THAT IS OK TO USE. SUPPLIER CODE APPEARS TO BE -OC. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO AND COMPARE TO INFORMATION SUPPLIED IN RECALL 16S31. REPLACEMENT PART IS P/N AA8Z-9D370-B. DEALER COST WITH TAX FOR THE PART WAS APPROX. $70

ABOUT HALF THE TIME, WHEN WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE TURNED ON, THEY WILL NOT SHUT OFF. I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED THEM TURNING ON SUDDENLY AS I DRIVE. THEY STAY ON WHEN I TURN THEM ON. THE HEADLIGHTS STAY ON AS WELL. EVEN WHEN TURNING LIGHTS OFF, THE WIPERS REMAIN. THIS CAUSES THEM TO BE ON WHILE IT'S DRY RESULTING IN A DRAGGING WIPE AND NOISE. IT CAN ALSO CAUSE A MINOR SMUDGE. I'VE HAD THE CAR SINCE JUNE 2016 AND THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ISSUE. TO TURN THEM ON CAUSES HESITATION AS THEY MAY NOT TURN OFF ANY TIME SOON. I'VE RESTARTED THE CAR A FEW TIMES AND MY EXPERIENCE IS TO WAIT IT OUT AFTER A COUPLE DAYS. A BRIEF LOOK ONLINE SHOWS VARIOUS FORD CARS AND TRUCKS HAVE THIS ISSUE.

POWER STEERING WENT OUT VERY HARD TO CONTROL CAR. TOOK TO MECHANIC HAD TO HAVE COMPLETE RACK AND PINION REPLACED ONLY 55,200 MILES ON CAR SAME PROBLEM FROM OTHER YEAR MODELS THAT ARE RECALLED BUT NOT FOR THIS MODEL YEAR.

CAR SITS AND COOLS DOWN AFTER A TIME PASSES APPROXIMATELY 15 -30 MIN AND CAR WILL START BACK UP. ALL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS WORK AS FAR AS DASH, LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL OF THE SAME MAKE AND YEAR BUT DIFFERENT TRIM... ALSO THE COMPLAINTS ARE VERY SIMILAR.

STARTED VEHICLE AT HOME, DROVE APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES TO WORK AND PARKED. AFTER EXITING VEHICLE AND WALKING ABOUT 30 FEET, HEARD A LOUD BANG AND SAW THE REAR WINDOW SHATTER. IT WAS 19 F OUTSIDE TEMP. ON REPLACING THE REAR WINDOW, TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER CONNECTOR ON PASSENGER SIDE WAS MELTED AND ON THE PIECE OF GLASS STILL CONNECTED TO THE WIRE, BURNT GLASS. FUSE/RELAY ON THE REAR DEFROSTER CIRCUIT WAS NOT BLOWN.

WAS RIDING IN BACK SEAT OF THIS CAR WHEN IT WAS REAR ENDED BY A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. TAURUS WAS STOPPED ON HIGHWAY, AND HIT SQUARELY FROM BEHIND. BOTH BACK SEAT DRIVERS WERE SEVERELY BRUISED IN LOWER BACK BY LATCH BRACKET. THE IMPACT WAS NOT EXTREME. NO AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. I'D HATE TO BE IN BACK OF THAT CAR IF HIT AT FULL SPEED. IT WOULD SEEM LIKELY THAT THAT BRACKET WOULD PRODUCE SEVERE LOWER BACK/TAILBONE INJURIES IN A MAXIMUM SPEED REAR IMPACT. OF SECOND NOTE, I'M A MECHANICAL ENGINEER, I NOTED THAT THE FAILURE OF THE REAR BUMPER FRAME TUBE WAS VERY BRITTLE IN ITS FAILURE MODE. I'D HAVE THOUGHT THE METAL WOULD HAVE STRETCHED AND GIVEN MORE. IT SIMPLY FRACTURED AT THE BRACKETS TO THE FRAME AND SNAPPED IN HALF IN THE MIDDLE, ALLOWING THE TRUNK LID AND FENDERS TO TAKE THE BRUNT OF THE IMPACT.

PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A STORE MY 2014 FORD TAURUS SURGED AHEAD. THE CAR WENT ACROSS THE PARKING STOP AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE STORE. THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS DAMAGED AND THE FRONT OF THE STORE WAS DAMAGED. THE WEATHER WAS DRY AND ABOUT 70 DEGREES. I WAS GOING LESS THAN 5 MPH AT THE TIME THE CAR SURGED AHEAD. IT WAS AS IF I HAD STOMPED ON THE GAS BUT I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT. I ASSUME IT WAS SOME SORT OF PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE SYSTEM. THIS HAPPENED IN LEAGUE CITY TEXAS AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT CASE NUMBER IS 16-1961. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MCREE FORD IN DICKENSON TEXAS FOR REPAIRS.

LETTER FROM CONGRESSWOMAN SLAUGHTER ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH 2014 FORD TAURUS (ATTN: JOHN PELLITO). *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED A REAR BRAKE DRAG WHICH RESULTED IN AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF HEAT BUILD-UP IN THE LEFT REAR WHEEL BRAKE ASSEMBLY. UPON RETURNING FROM A SHORT 125 MILE DAY TRIP, AN UNUSUAL HOT BURNING SMELL WAS NOTICED AND AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF HEAT WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. AT ONE POINT, TWO VERY LOUD/HARD METAL BANGS WERE HEARD AND THE LEFT REAR TIRE SPUN IN THE STREET FROM A DEAD STOP. IN MAY MID 2015, THE SAME PROBLEM STARTED TO OCCUR WITHIN SHORT ERRANDS AND MORE FREQUENTLY. IT APPEARED THE BRAKE ONLY ON THAT WHEEL WAS DRAGGING OR LOCKING IN POSITION ON THE ROTOR CAUSING EXCESSIVE HEAT. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE BRAKE PADS WERE HEAT FUSED TO THE CALIPER KNUCKLE ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AND THE ROTOR WAS HEAT WARPED AND EXCESSIVELY WORN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS, BRAKE ROTORS, CLEANED THE HEAT DAMAGED AND APPLIED A LUBRICANT IN THE SLOT OF THE ANCHOR TO PREVENT THE CALIPERS AND BRAKES FROM BINDING. *JB
