Ford Transit Connect passenger van with a panoramic view roof window. Driving on the highway, when air starting rushing into the cabin via the glass roof. I was able to pull over before the whole panel blew off. The Front (leading) edge of the glass roof panel is now loose. I can push up on the glass panel and the front edge comes up at least a 1/2 inch now. Ford has a recall listed on the roof panel aleady, but they say my car is not covered by the recall. Campaign/NHTSA# 20S22/20V260 Issue Date 2020-05-08 Description On your vehicle, the panoramic roof glass panel may not be properly bonded to the vehicle, which may result in wind noise, water leaks, and in some cases, separation from the vehicle. Safety Risk This may result in separation of the entire panoramic roof panel from the vehicle while driving increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Remedy Parts are now available to repair your vehicles. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to remove, clean, and reinstall the panoramic roof glass free of charge (parts and labor).

I am writing to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my 2016 Ford Transit Connect. On four separate occasions, the rear sliding doors on both the driver and passenger sides have completely detached from the vehicle during the normal process of closing them. These incidents occurred without the application of any excessive force or unusual use. The doors unexpectedly slid off their tracks and fell from the vehicle, creating a dangerous situation. Each time this occurred, my family was left stranded, unable to complete our trip or return home safely. As a result of this repeated failure, I have avoided using one of the sliding doors for over a year out of fear that it was not properly re-secured and could fall off again. This issue represents a significant safety concern, particularly for families relying on this vehicle for daily transportation, and I believe it warrants immediate attention and investigation.

Recall Issue with Vehicle Door Latch and Delays in Repair - NHTSA Recall Number 21V376 To whom it may concern, I am writing to report a significant safety concern regarding my vehicle. Specifically, the driver's door latch is malfunctioning and no longer securely locks the door, rendering the vehicle undriveable. This issue directly aligns with the advanced recall notice identified as NHTSA Recall Number21V376 and Manufacturer Recall Number 21S24. To seek a resolution, I reached out to local Ford dealerships, but initially faced challenges in even having a conversation about potential recalls. Fortunately, Future Ford of Roseville accepted to inspect my vehicle and I delivered it to their facility on August 23rd, 2023. One of their service managers indicated that they should be able to address the problem, especially since my car exhibits the symptoms detailed in the recall notice. However, it's September 1st now, and my vehicle remains in their possession with little to no updates. The only communication I received was a work order summary. Troublingly, this document states: "FORD DECLINED AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR AT THIS TIME" regarding the advanced recall. Attempts to discuss this update with the service manager, [XXX] , have been unproductive. She briefly left a voicemail without pertinent details and despite promising a follow-up call, failed to do so. Furthermore, I reached out to Ford corporate for clarity but to no avail. I've consistently received vague answers, with most indicating a lack of direction from Ford. This is both alarming and frustrating. I am at a loss as to why the dealership can't take an interim measure, such as replacing the defective door latch—which has been acknowledged to degrade over time—to temporarily remedy the situation. This could serve as a temporary solution until an official fix is determined. Attached is the aforementioned work order summary for your reference. I urge you to consider the safety implications of INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Driver-side cargo door does not latch correctly and will open while the vehicle is in motion. This happens at speeds below 20 mph as well as highway speeds. Because of the repeated pressure of the door flying open, the rail is now bent and the door will fall off when opened or closed. Not only is the cargo door opening a safety issue to others driving around me as things may fall out, but the door itself may come off and cause damage to those around me

We have a 2016 Ford Transit Connect Van with 6,700 Miles. The Windshield come out loose and it could have been fatal to the life of passengers or others on the road. We went to the dealership and got to know that Ford is aware about it but is not covered. We are paying about $650 to glue the windshield back on the Van. We are paying this for the safety of the people. This could be dangerous and can lead to accidents or deaths on the road. Please address this with Ford since our concern is not being addressed by Ford or their dealership. Seems like they are waiting for a disaster to happen! Thank you.

I STOPPED AT THE FOOT OF MY LONG DRIVEWAY AS I ARRIVED HOME. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE AND EXITED THE VEHICLE TO GET MY MAIL. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY CAR IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE SHIFT LEVER HAD BECOME DISCONNECTED, AND THE SHIFT LEVER BUSHING WAS GONE. I FOUND PART OF THE BUSHING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHEN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, I FOUND INFORMATION ON THE SAFETY RECALL 18S20, COVERING THE FORD FUSION, WITH THE SAME MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION AS THE 2016 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT I OWN. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE I WAS IN A SAFE LOCATION WHEN THE BUSHING FAILED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE SAFETY RECALL 18S20 DOES NOT COVER MY 2016 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT. PICTURE OF FAILED BUSHING ATTACHED.

While driving on the highway, the Panoramic Roof Window started lifting up along the leading edge of the glass panel. I was to slow down and get off the highway before the panel came completely out of the recessed window frame. Ford has told me that my VIN shows the recall repair on the roof was performed already by Ford for a previous owner. A local Ford dealership looked into redoing the repair under a replacement warrenty, but was told it is not covered because the recall work was down more than 2 years ago. This seems a problem to me. The panoramic window is a fixed glass pane. Recall repair for this should last for the life of the car, not two years. I beleive the repair of the window does not actually solve the documented recall problem effectively.

Vehicle was taken into the Fleet Division of Joe Cooper Ford on or around March 30th 2023 for the Active Windshield recall. On that visit, they were notified that the windshield had already been replaced by Safelite on March 18th 2021 due to a crack that compromised the windshield's integrity. After the vehicle being in their possession for ~13 days, they stated that all they needed was a copy of the invoice and that the recall information would be sent to Ford and the recall alert cleared. I provided a physical copy at the same time I picked it up and as of this moment the recall still has not been cleared. This is a fleet vehicle, so I am notified regularly that I still have not had this taken care of. I called Joe Cooper back on two occasions to check up on the status, with the last time being July 3rd, 2023 in which they requested I email copies of the Safelite Invoice again. Attached is the Invoice from Joe Cooper as well as the invoice from Safelite confirming full windshield replacement using an aftermarket Fuyao windshield. I cannot get an answer as to why there is a hold up so I cannot tell if this is an issue on Ford's part or the dealership. I am, however, looking to resolve this issue.

Need to replace swollen lug nuts on the vehicle. If I were to have a flat on the highway the tire would not be able to change it because the lug nuts are too big. No wrench will fit it. Service man said because the nuts are a 2 part lug nut, moisture gets in and make the nuts swollen and they get to big to take off with the wrench. Is the part defective? Advice me the cost from the dealer to replace. I read that the possible cause is tightening the lugs too tight. Not using the proper torque when changing tires. I have only Ford work on my car and they know it’s defective because it happened to my husband’s car and they covered it. They should be replaced by Ford. It’s DEFECTIVE. Thank you!

VAN WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY ROADWAY. TOWED TO FORD DEALER. THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. DEALER LISTED "RECALL 17B28". I HAD NOT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE. CONTACTED FORD. ADVISED: "YOUR PATIENCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. I WAS ABLE TO VERIFY THAT YOU DO HAVE PROGRAM 17B28 TITLED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT OPEN ON YOUR VEHICLE. THIS IS ACTUALLY NOT A RECALL, BUT A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM (CSP). UNDER THIS CSP, FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS AUTHORIZED YOUR DEALER TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FREE OF CHARGE (PARTS AND LABOR) UNDER THE TERMS OF THIS PROGRAM. THIS CSP IS ACTIVE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2018, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE." I HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS PROGRAM OR THE DEFECT WHICH WOULD IMMOBILIZE MY VAN WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO LOOSE POWER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. MOREOVER, AS A SENIOR FEMALE WHO OFTEN DRIVES ALONE AT NIGHT, COULD LEAD TO STRANDING. WHY ISN'T FORD REQUIRED TO EITHER RECALL THE THROTTLE BODY OR NOTIFY CUSTOMERS THEY NEED TO HAVE IT REPLACED? ATTACHING REPAIR DOCUMENT. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOT ONLY LISTED THIS AS A RECALL, BUT TOLD US IT WAS A RECALL. WE INSISTED WE HAD NOT RECEIVED NOTICE AND CONTACTED FORD. THE ABOVE STATEMENT WAS MADE DURING A "LIVE CHAT" TODAY AT 2:30 P.M. REPAIR PAPERWORK ATTACHED.

1/2 OF THE WINDSHIELD SEAL FAILED LEAVING THE WINDSHIELD UNATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED IT WAS LOOSE WHEN CLEANING THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE NEXT MORNING I WENT TO A GLASS REPAIR SHOP. THE MANAGER SAID NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AROUND DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES AND TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE SEAL SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED WITHIN 3 YEARS. THE SERVICE MANAGER WANTED ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND UNTIL THEY HAD AN OPENING IN APPOINTMENTS. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT WITH ONLY 1/2 OF THE WINDSHIELD SEAL INTACT. THEREFORE I LEFT IT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. I AM AWAITING RESOLUTION TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

Van was taken to Mooresville Ford for routine maintenance. When picking up the van the service mng informed me that some of the lug nuts are "swollen" and the tire iron supplied with the vehicle will no longer fit on the lug nut. I will not be able to change a flat tire until they are are replaced. I have both a premium extended warranty and platinum service contract but the dealer would not cover the lug nuts and if I wanted to pay out of pocket they would be replaced with the same lug nuts that would eventual become "swollen" again. I was advised to buy aftermarket lug nuts and put them on. It's pretty clear after doing a little research that this is a common problem that should result in a recall and replacement of the lug nut to avoid leaving car owners stranded in remote locations or anywhere for that matter. Also the tire rotation portion of the service which is part of the service contract was not able to be done due to the swollen lug nut. We were told that the lug nuts will be damaged when they attempt to remove them and won't be able to put them back on. I don't understand why Ford doesn't fix this problem but they won't until they are forced too. Please issue a recall.

Husband took car to the local Ford dealer (Price Ford) to get oil changed. As part of the service, they went to rotate tires and found that the lug nuts/caps had swollen and needed to be replaced. We later discovered that this has been an ongoing problem for years. My husband agreed to have it done, for safety’s sake and to avoid having a flat and unable to change tire. This extra work cost $123.40. On later research, I found this design flaw was for cosmetic purposes only and that normal non-expanding lug nuts would avoid the distinct possibility that this may happen again. I called the shop and ascertained that, indeed, the “stock” lug nuts were replaced with same and he acknowledged that this has been a common issue. He also agreed that standard lug nuts wouldn’t do this and, finally, offered that if I went and bought them he would have them changed but also that he wouldn’t refund for the ones that were put on an hour ago because “now they are used “. My husband was never given the advice or option of using standard, less expensive, lug nuts in the first place, as he should have been. Why wouldn’t this be handled as a recall issue and standard parts be used for replacement, especially for customers who are experiencing this known problem? I feel a recall should be issued and remedied for all customers, free of charge. And, in our case, we should be refunded the $123.40.

STRIPPED OFF LUG NUTS THAT RETAIN THE TIRES / WHEELS ON THE CAR. THESE SEEM TO BE MADE OF A SOFTER MATERIAL LIKE ALUMINUM. ON MY VEHICLE THEY HAVE BEEN STRIPPED OUT AND RENDERED USELESS. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO SEE IF I CAN HAVE THEM REPLACED. THESE SHOULD BE MADE OF STEEL. THESE ARE OFTEN ON AND OFF THE CAR FOR WHEEL MAINTENANCE AND TIRE REPLACEMENT / ROTATION. YOU SHOULD MAKE THE MANUFACTURERS MAKE THEM OUT OF STEEL, TO BETTER HOLD UP. COULD BE DANGEROUS.

SERVICE BRAKES
4 complaints
The brakes suddenly locked up while I was driving which could have caused an accident. Luckily it did not cause me to swerve into oncoming traffic and no one was behind me at the time. This was caused by the ABS unit hydraulic control assembly. It was the right front and left rear calipers locking. My vehicle only has 44,401 miles on it. The diagnosis has been confirmed at the dealer. There are other 2016 Ford Transit connect models that have had a safety recall for this specific component, but mine is just outside of the vehicle recall time period by a few months. It was manufactured at the same plant. Additionally, I wanted to add that there were no warning lights, though I noticed a very slight drag when first accelerating (a few days prior) but didn't think much of it. I wondered if I was just imagining things. It wouldn't have been noticeable to someone who wasn't used to driving it. I contacted Ford and they would not provide any assistance other than me having to start a case (in other words, I have to spend $2,100 to get it fixed at the dealer; also I can't get it fixed anywhere else because the dealer has to program it.)

The vehicles front driver side wheel brakes keeps receiving too much pressure causing the brake pads to stick and the wheel to get hot and to shake the steering wheel. I have had the caliper replaced twice, the flex bake hose replaced as well, replaced brake pads and rotor and after the most recent diagnosis, I was told that the issue is the HCU. Ford has had issues with this model and you can see under campaigns 16C10/16V482 where this exact issues was happening was being experienced. I believe that they failed to fix the issue when they produced the car I have and are refusing to fix it. When I first experienced the issue my rotor was smoking and the wheel was extremely hot which is an extreme hazard that ford should be made responsible for.

The ABS control/hydraulic unit failed over a period of months. At first I thought it was a master cylinder issue and replaced that but it did not cure the problem. My wife had an issue several times where she thought the transmission was acting up but I could not replicate it, until the brakes really started to lock up. It got to the point where the brakes would stay locked up after any application and would slowly release after five to fifteen minutes. I had the dealership look at it and explained what I had found. If you cracked the metal brake line to hose connection at the right front and left rear, the brakes would release. The dealer did not agree with me, they wanted to replace the entire base braking system. I pulled it out of the dealer and took it to an independent repair shop. The part is presently in the hands of the repair garage but has a core charge on it. The component has not been inspected by anyone. No warning lamps appeared at any time.
Dec 26, 2022
Some portion of the brakes master cylinder degraded into small pieces and were found in the brake lines by a Ford Dealership technician. While traveling on highway at highway speeds (70mph), about an hour into a trip, the brakes locked on which caused vehicle to travel into the median and slide sideways. The vehicle had to be coaxed (put in manual mode), to get it off highway and limped to dealership. The technician replaced the master cylinder and noted the debris in the brake lines, therefore, he bled all the brake lines to clear the debris. There was no accident (luckily it was avoided), therefore, no insurance or police inspection. Only inspected by Ford dealership personnel. The only warning lamp that was illuminated was the tire pressure warning, since a spare tire was being used at the time.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was vibrating. The rotors then overheated, causing the brakes to seize. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the calipers, brakes, and rotors; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit (HCU) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle had previously been serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V482000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control). The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated while driving at 20 MPH and coming to a complete stop, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle stopped. However, as he released the brake pedal to drive from the complete stop, the vehicle failed to move. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle responded at a significant low speed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front brakes and the rear driver's side brake were not releasing pressure upon depressing the brake pedal. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V482000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control) as the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

WHILE PULLING OUT OF A FAST FOOD DRIVE THROUGH STEERING JERKED TO CENTER AND I LOST POWER STEERING TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD BARELY KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE POWERING STEERING MOTOR SEEMED OVERHEATED BECAUSE OF ITS LOCATION AND I COULD EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN, ON THE DASH I GOT A "STEERING FAULT" CODE. SECOND ISSUE UNRELATED IS THAT THE TEMP SENSOR KEEPS MALFUNCTIONING, ONCE THE SENOR REACHES BELOW THE FREEZING POINT ON THE DASH ( KEEP IN MIND ITS 74F OUTSIDE) THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT BLOWING HOT AIR UNTIL THE WHOLE SYSTEM RESETS AND THE DASH READS THE ACTUAL EXTERIOR TEMP. NEW FORD TEMP SENSOR INSTALLED WORKED FINE FOR TWO WEEKS THEN SAME ISSUE. ITS FRUSTRATING WHEN WE REACH 80+ DEGREES AND THE AIR CONDITIONING IS INTERMITTENT BECAUSE OF A SENOR ISSUE WHICH IS TOTALLY UNRELATED TO THE UNIT ITSELF. TWO OTHER FRIENDS OF MINE OWN THE SAME YEAR VEHICLE AND ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. LOVE MY FORD BUT THEY SHOULD OWN UP TO THEY'RE PROBLEMS.

ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW MESSAGE APPEARS, SRS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND INFORMATION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE. VEHICLE LOOSES POWER, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN NON RESPONSIVE, AND ENGINE BEGINS VERY ROUGH IDLE. HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE TWICE IN THREE DAYS ON THE FREEWAY AT SPEEDS OF 65-70MPH. AFTER COASTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON SEEMS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE LONG ENOUGH TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JUNE OF 2016. CURRENTLY HAS 13,100 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.

WHILE DRIVING AT AN ESTIMATED AND CONSTANT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR BEEPED AND "ENGINE MALFUNCTION" DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE THEN SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE SMELL OF BURNING OIL WAS PRESENT IN THE CABIN. GIVEN THE SPEEDS, THIS WAS DANGEROUS. I HAD TO COAST ACROSS A LANE OF TRAFFIC AND COME TO A STOP IN A GRASSY AREA TO AVOID BLOCKING THE HIGHWAY. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE. THE CAR AT THE TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS OLD. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALER. THE DEALER IS REPAIRING THE CAR AND HAS INDICATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY). THE DEALER ASSERTS THE CAUSE OF THE BURNING OIL SMELL WAS THAT THE CAR WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. *TR

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contacted stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the braking system malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the freeway. The vehicle was later towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the brake system HCU pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V482000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control). On October 15, 2021, I was driving my 2016 Ford Transit Connect at approximately 55MPH on a state road. I was closing in on a slow-moving truck, and pressed the brake pedal just to slow down about 5MPH. At this point, the brake electronic control module failed, locking up the left front caliper, nearly pulling me into oncoming traffic. I was able to get stopped and pulled over to the side of the road, where I found the affected brake (left front) was smoking hot. I shut the vehicle off and waited for it to cool, and upon restarted, the brake ECM allowed the caliper to open enough to drive it home, and then directly to the repair shop. The repair shop determined the brake ECM was randomly locking up one of the four calipers about 1 in 10 times. There were no warning indicators prior to the issue. The shop has all the details (Runyon Corp, PO Box 384/445, West Main St. Morristown IN, 46161, (765) 763-1271. They would have the old brake ECM. This issue occurred with 64,342 miles on the vehicle. I have contacted Ford, and was told other, similar vehicles of the same year and model had a recall on the brake ECMs, but my VIN was not included in the recall. This is a dangerous situation, and had I not had both hands on the wheel, it would have caused a head-on collision.

My Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor failed. Caused my airbag system to throw a code and become inoperative and SRS light on. Took to Middleton Ford in Middleton, WI and they confirmed the code indicated the OCS sensor has failed and required replacing to make the airbag system operable again. Meaning if I got into an accident, no airbags would deploy while the defective OCS sensor is in place. My insurance refused to inspect or cover the sensor as the failure wasn't related to an accident. Middleton Ford refused to cover the replacement cost regardless of cause of failure and said I must pay for the repair as my van was out of warranty. The sensor was replaced on 08/22/22 and see attached pics to prove the sensor had no visual issues and the cause of said failure is a manufacturer defect. Consumers should never have to pay for a defective part that failed due to no fault of their own.
Aug 22, 2022
My SRS system has thrown the SRS light with code B00C0:11AB Passenger Occupancy sensor A short to ground. According to The weight pad is faulty and requires a $989 part replacement. The SRS system is disabled with the light on which is a safety issue in today's vehicles as none of the airbags will deploy in an accident with the SRS light currently on. No consumer related malfunction detected meaning there were no broken wires found nor evidence of a consumer triggered fault found such as wet or previously wet pad which could have caused the fault. It is an internal part failure.

Vehicle failed to go into park when putting shift lever into the park position. Vehicle actually went into reverse instead even though the shift indicator showed the vehicle was in park. We could not shift the vehicle out of reverse. This was the result of a broken shift cable. This is the 2nd vehicle of the same model we have had this happen with. We will be reporting the other vehicle as well.
May 19, 2021
The vehicle failed to shift into reverse causing the vehicle roll down hill when the driver expected to back up. The driver was able to stop the vehicle without incident. It turns out the shift cable broke that links the shifter to the transmission. We had it repaired (replaced) by a local shop. The vehicle is available for inspection if necessary, but has been repaired. We have had two of these break on two different vehicles of the same model and year. This happened on this vehicle at 127000 miles. There were no warning indicators illuminated before this incident occurred.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. THE DIVER WAS SLIGHTLY INJURED. THE VEHICLE'S MAINTENANCE HISTORY WAS LOOKED AT. THIS VEHICLE WAS NEVER IMPLICATED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE FORD DEALER FOUND THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRING FOR THIS AIRBAG WAS CORRODED. THIS WOULD BE THE REASON WHY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THIS ELECTRICAL WIRE SHOULD BE BETTER PROTECTED. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS NOT VALID ANYMORE.

I OWN A 2016 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT WITH TOW PACKAGE ASSEMBLED IN VALENCIA, SPAIN. THERE IS A RECALL 17S34 ISSUED BY FORD ON OCT. 25, 2017 REGARDING FORD TRANSIT VEHICLES ASSEMBLED IN KANSAS CITY EQUIPPED WITH TOW MODULES. THE ISSUE IS WATER ENTERING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THRU THE TOW MODUEL AND SHORTING OUT THE SYSTEM. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE IGNITION HAS COME APART AND IT IS GOING TO COST ME MORE THAT 800.00 TO FIX. MY PROBLEMS STARTED ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGE THE RADIO WENT OUT ALONG WITH THE BACKUP CAMERA AND SCREEN, I CHECKED THE FUSES SEEMED FINE PUT THEM BACK ALL OK. A DAY LATER VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE A LOT OF NOISE COMING FROM THE DASH BOARD THIS TIME THE BATTERY WENT DEAD, I CHARGED THE BATTERY, CHECKED THE FUSES, THE BATTERY STILL KEPT GOING DEAD. EVERY TIME I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF THE BATTERY WENT DEAD AFTER 3 OR 4 TIMES OF THIS THE IGNITION STOPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PUT IN A NEW BATTERY AND RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK TO FIND OUT THE IGNITION HAD COME APART AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $800. I AM CONCERNED THAT WATER IS GETTING INTO MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND I AM GOING TO HAVE MORE PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE IF THIS TOW MODULES ISN'T FIXED. THE FORD RECALL STATES: WATER INTRUSION INTO THE MODULE MAY RESULT IN RAPID FLASHING OF TURN SIGNALS, LOSS OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY, LOSS OF HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING CONTROLS, AND LOSS OF MULTIMEDIA INCLUDING RADIO, SCREENS AND SYNC. WIRING CORROSION FROM PROLONGED WATER INTRUSION COULD ALSO RESULT IN AN ELECTRICAL SHORT TO THE GROUND, WHICH COULD CAUSE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER DEPLOYMENT, A BURNING SMELL AND/OR INCREASED RISK OF FIRE, INCLUDING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND THE IGNITION IS OFF. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING MANY OF THE SAME ISSUES IN THIS RECALL AND SHOULD POSSIBLE BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL 17S34

JUST GOT THIS VEHICLE, WAS PURCHASED AS USED BUT WITH WARRANTY STILL AS IT ONLY HAD 16500 MILES. AFTER DRIVING FOR FEW WEEKS I HAD THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS. #1 FUEL ECONOMY ON VEHICLE IS 15 MILES PER GALLON (ON A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE?). PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED A RECALL PART (THROTTLE BODY) AS IT WAS DOING ONLY 13 MILES TO THE GALLON. DEALER STATES THAT IS WORKING NORMAL???? #2 AFTER DRIVING FOR 4 HOURS OR MORE (CITY OR HIGHWAY) HOT AIR COMES OUT OF AIR VENTS EVEN WHEN OUTSIDE TEMP IS 40 DEGREES FE.( AND TEMP IS SET TO LOW ON CLUSTER). 20 DEGREES DEFERENCE IS NOT OK (MAYBE IN WINTER BUT NOT IN SUMMER). DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND CALL FORD ENGINEERS, TO WHICH THEY SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL. DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE SAME ISSUE ON 3 SIMILAR VEHICLES BUT STILL FORD STATES THAT IT IS NORMAL??? HOT AIR COMING OUT OF VENTS AT 70 DEGREES WHEN IT IS 55 DEGREES OUTSIDE IS NOT NORMAL.
