AFTER FILLING MY VEHICLES GAS TANK, THE GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY, AN THE LO E FUEL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT IS ENGAGED. INITIALLY, THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL WAS ABOVE HALF OF A TANK, THEN THE LEVEL WOULD SHOW CORRECTLY FROM ONE HALF OF A TANK AND LOWER. SEEMS THAT THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY EVEN AFTER I FILL IT UP. IT WILL CHIME, ILLUMINATE THE LOW FUEL LIGHT AND READ --- FOR RANGE LEFT TILL EMPTY. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE. AFTER YOU DRIVE AND USE ABOUT 5 GALLONS IT WILL THEN GO FROM F TO E EVERY FEW MINUTES AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH CODE P0463. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE. GM STATED THAT THEY DID SEND OUT AT ONE TIME A OFFER TO PAY HALF OF THE ASSOCIATED COST IF WE CHOSE TO FIX THIS AND IT WAS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A SHORT TIME. I WAS DEPLOYED OVERSEAS AT THE TIME SO I NEVER GOT THAT MAIL AND I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO ANYTHING AT THAT POINT IN TIME ANYWAY, HOWEVER THEY COULD HAVE ALLOWED ME TO DO IT UPON MY RETURN, NOPE!!! THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE NOW, AND IT IS VIEWED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. THEY TOLD ME TO SEE THEIR LIAISON AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, HE WILL THEN CALL THE GM REP. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER A WEEK AND STILL NO REPLY. WHEN I CALLED GM BACK ON MY OWN, IT SEEMS THEY CLOSED MY CASE BUT DID NOT HAVE A REASON WHY IT WAS CLOSED AND I WAS PLACED FROM ONE SUPERVISOR TO ANOTHER. I HAVE REPAIRED OR REPLACED SO MANY THING ON THIS SUV IN EXCESS OF 7K ALREADY ITS NOT FUNNY.( POWER PEDAL RELAY, AND MODULE, SELF LEVELING SUSPENSION, AC CONTROL HEAD, FAN CLUTCH MOTOR, AC ACCUMULATOR, ENTIRE FUSE BLOCK, ENTIRE SHORT BLOCK OF ENGINE AND HALF THE TOP END.)NOW THE HEAT AND AC SYSTEM ARE GIVING ME ISSUES WITH THE ACTUATOR DOOR AS WELL AS THE CONTROL BOX WHERE NO AIR COMES THRU THE DASH VENTS ONLY THE FLOOR AND GMC STATED THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HAS AFFECTED MANY BUT THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THAT EITHER. THE GAS TANK SENSOR WENT OUT. LATELY RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC FOR REPAIR BUT WITH 2 CRITERIAS. FIRST : VEHICLE MUST BE UNDER 120.000 MILES AND SECOND CRITERIA LESS THAN 10 YEARS. MY PERSONAL SITUATION ONLY APPLIES THE 10 YEARS. *TR I TALK TO GMS AND GMC IN TURN SAYS I HAVE DEAL WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND LOCAL DEALER SAYS GMC MUST AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR. I FURTHER INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE THAT THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR SITUATIONS AND GMC KNOWS THAT IT'S A DEFECTIVE PART. I THINK IT IS IN DANGER IF I FORGET TO GAS UP MY CAR.

FUEL SENSOR NO LONGER WORKS ON VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THIS DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE PER SE, ITS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THE VEHICLE THAT GMC HAS RECOGNIZED HOWEVER THEY CONTINUE TO PUT STIPULATIONS AROUND VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO FIX. FOR EXAMPLE, THE VEHICLE MUST BE UNDER 10YRS OF AGE OR UNDER 120,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I THINK THAT GMC SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS KNOWN PROBLEM REGARDING OF HOW MANY MILES OR YEARS OF AGE IS ON THE VEHICLE. *TR

I FILLED UP AT THE LOCAL EXXON GAS STATION AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY WITH THE YELLOW LIGHT ILLUMINATED. TRIED STARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES,TO NO AVAIL.CARRIED CAR TO A MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE SENDING UNIT IN THE FUEL TANK. REPAIR COST ROUGHLY $800 - $1000 DOLLARS. *TR

The driver side window control caught fire, while the vehicle was sitting overnight. It was sitting by itself without reason to catch fire, but it did burn inside the driver side door.

Unknown All the cluster panels quite working. RPM, Speed, Oil, Water, Gas shows always empty. Danger because have to guess my speed and never know if I have enough gas, oil, or water in my car. Also sometimes when I shut off my car I cannot get the key out of the steering column. Cannot leave my car without my keys.

The contact owned a 2005 GMC Envoy. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH the entire dashboard illuminated and needles on gauges had begun to move independently. The contact heard an abnormal "popping" sound from the front end of the vehicle and gray smoke was emitted from under the hood, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull off of the roadway and placed the vehicle into park (P) with difficulty. The contact exited the vehicle and moved away towards the rear end. The contact stated that she noticed flames under the vehicle located at the front end. The contact stated that within 3 minutes of observing the flames under the vehicle, the entire front end became engulfed by flames. The police and fire department arrived on the scene. The contact stated that the fire department used a chemical to extinguish the flames, the contact stated that the flames had burned not only the front end and front tires but the front part of the passenger cabin including the seats. The contact stated that the highway patrol wrote a report and had been informed by the fire department that the fire appeared to have been caused by the electrical system. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

WHILE DRIVING IN A 40 MPH ZONE I GLANCED AT THE SPEEDOMETER AND IT READ 70 MPH! I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN BEFORE I REALIZED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATION WAS INACCURATE. UPON COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATED 40 MPH. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL OPERATION. SINCE THEN I HAVE NOTICED THE GAUGE "STICKING" WHEN LETTING OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS CREATING AN UN-SAFE CONDITION FOR MYSELF AS WELL AS THE OCCUPANTS OF THIS VEHICLE. I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE SPEED INDICATION IS TRULY ACCURATE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT ON THIS VEHICLE AS WELL AS OTHER GM MODELS MADE DURING THIS TIME FRAME. THERE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURS.

OUR 2005 GMC ENVOY HAS ALWAYS HAD A FAULTY FUEL GAUGE AND HAS CAUSED OUR FAMILY TO BE STRANDED A FEW TIMES WITHOUT GAS WHILE TRAVELLING FAR FROM HOME. WE TOOK IT INTO A GMC DEALER WHO WANTED $ 950 FOR PARTS AND REPAIRS. WE JUST DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. GMC HAS ALWAYS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS NOT OFFERED TO FIX IT NOR HAVE A RECALL ON THIS FAULTY GAS GAUGE. 856,000 GM SUVS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR FAULTY FUEL GAUGES FEDERAL REGULATORS ARE INVESTIGATING 865,000 GENERAL MOTORS SUVS, INCLUDING THE 2005-?07 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AND BUICK RAINIER,FOR FAULTY FUEL GAUGES THAT ARE INACCURATE. ABOUT 4 YEARS I NOTICED MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SOMETIMES WOULD NOT WORK AT NIGHT, FORCING ME TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON, BLINDING OTHER MOTORISTS. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID IT MAY COST $500 TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I COULD NOT AFFORD THIS EXPENDITURE. I TRY TO AVOID DRIVING AT NIGHT AND ONLY RECENTLY I HAD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND AGAIN MY LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT WORK, FORCING ME TO AGAIN DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. MY FIANC DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS FUSE/RELAY. WE LEARNED WE COULD PULL OUT THE HIGH BEAM FUSE/RELAY WHICH IS IDENTICAL TO THE LOW BEAM AND SWITCH THEM. UPON DOING SO, THE LOW BEAMS ONCE AGAIN WORKED.

A WHILE BACK, WE NOTICED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT THAT OUR LIGHTS SEEMED TO BE FLICKERING (LOW BEAMS). IT WOULD DO IT OCCASIONALLY, BUT WE NEVER KNEW WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE HAD THE LIGHTS GO COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING, AND HAD TO TURN THE FOG LAMPS ON TO HAVE HEADLIGHTS OF ANY SORT. TONIGHT, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, AND I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS GOING TO HAVE MY HUSBAND COME OUT AND SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON IF HE COULD. WHILE I SAT THERE WITH THE CAR RUNNING AND IN PARK, AFTER ABOUT 3 MINUTES, THEY CAME BACK ON. I HAVE READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LIGHT MODULAR FOR 2006+ ENVOYS, BUT MINE IS A 2005, AND HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HEARD THE RECALL WAS FOR. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THE 2005 TRAILBLAZERS WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT NOT THE ENVOYS????

THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING 50MPH ON A HIGHWAY BECAUSE A RELAY IN THE FUSE BOX OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE FUSE BOX. I KNOW THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ON THE TRAILBLAZER FROM THE SAME YEAR BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SAME CAR BUT THERE IS NOT ONE FOR THE ENVOY.

AT LEES THAN 1/4 TANK OF FUEL THE GAS GAUGE IS CLOSE, AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE GOES WAY PAST FULL AND WILL STAY LIKE THAT UNTIL FUEL IS BELOW 1/4 TANK. LAST TIME THE TRUCK TOOK 19.85 GALLONS IN A 20 GALLON TANK UNTIL IT STARTED WORKING CORRECTLY AGAIN. ONE TANK IT WORKED FINE AND NEXT FILL UP IT WAS WAY BEYOND FULL AGAIN. AT THE SAME TIME WHEN FUEL GAUGE IS WRONG, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL BE OFF. MANY TIMES FREEZING AT 35MPH WHILE TRAVELING 65MPH. AFTER MANY RESETS OF IGNITION, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL COME BACK. ALSO WHEN ALL OF THIS IS HAPPENING WITH THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL GAUGE, THE RADIO HAS NO AUDIO. EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, THE RADIO WILL COME BACK AND WORK ON ONE SPEAKER. MOST OF THE TIME IT IS OUT. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO STATING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL TO THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY VEHICLE. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT SINCE I HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE AND THE LETTER STATED NOT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER UNLESS YOU CURRENTLY HAD THE PROBLEM. AS OF A WEEK AGO THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. I FUELED UP UNTIL THE TANK WAS FULL AND THE GAUGE READS AS IF THE TANK IS EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ON. IN ADDITION THE SPEEDOMETER HAS IS HAVING ISSUES NOW AS WELL. IT STICKS AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THEN JUST GOES TO ZERO AND STAYS THERE. IF IT WEREN'T FOR MY GPS I WOULD HAVE NO CLUE WHAT RATE OF SPEED I AM TRAVELING. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP AND THE REPAIR FOR THE FUEL GAUGE WILL COST ME $240 WITH GMC PAYING THE OTHER HALF. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY WERE AWARE THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE BEFORE I DID SO WHY AM I NOW STUCK WITH THE REPAIR BILLS? WHY WAS THIS NOT FIXED BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME SINCE I PURCHASED IT USED FROM THE DEALERSHIP? SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS.I SHOULD NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR GMC'S ERRORS! The contact owned a 2005 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, another vehicle driven by a drunk driver swerved into the front of the vehicle, causing a front collision. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact hit his face again on the steering wheel, but did not seek medical assistance. The contact's wife, who was occupying the front passenger seat and wearing a seat belt, was severely injured and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact's wife was diagnosed by a trauma surgeon. The contact's wife was diagnosed with a fractured right knee cap, right ankle bone chips and ligament damage, damaged left toes, a double bone bruise in the left knee, bruised seat belt mark. The contact's wife was hospitalized for 6 days and was admitted to a rehabilitation facility for 11 days. The contact stated that his wife was currently confined to a wheelchair. The contact's wife was currently awaiting a knee replacement. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 270,000.

I purchased my envoy from a used car lot with no warning lights and no apparent safety concerns about 2 yrs ago other then what appeared to be a replaced front bumper cover and the vehicle was repainted the same color white, since then the brakes have intermittently not disengaged on one side or the other I believe it's the front brakes and seems to be worse after a longer drives and after bleeding the system the pedal would be firm and next day spongy feeling and going down rather far. Air bags did not deploy apon impact. It is available for inspiration although I am attempting to repair it after my accident the brakes are still as they were. I have tried both on as well as performance pads and rotors booster check valve and fluid replacement with no change. I was coming back from my daughter's dentist appointment it is 20 minutes away the roads were very slick with snow and sleet, I got off the hwy and coming through town I braked to slow from 45 to 35mph before crossing the intersection when I let off the brake the left side stayed engaged enough to cause the vehicle to pull to the left and I couldn't steer straight because of the snow and was forced to hit 2 traffic light posts in the center median. Usually on dry roads I can tap the pedal and keep it straight until the brakes released. I first noticed it changing pads when I 1st purchased it that the front tires spin harder while jaked up and when it continued I figured it was alignment or steering components worn but even after parts replaced a 2 alignments nothing changed, after my last alignment the technician said the brakes need to be bled and I told him the issue he was unsure the cause. I did not have any air bags deploy in this accident and the sensors were clearly effected as the bumper caved in the center. The vehicle also has had uneven ride height due to independent sensors in the rear. The vehicle now has a service airbag and service brakes light. Other owners have similar issues with their envoys

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MASTER SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WATER INTRUSION INTO THE CIRCUIT WHICH CAUSED THE POLES TO BE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PARKED VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE AND WENT IN THE HOUSE. NEXT MORNING WENT TO USE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE REAR HATCH GLASS HAD EXPLODED. GLASS EVERYWHERE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN MOVED FOR OVER 12 HOURS. HAVE CALLED TO HAVE GLASS REPLACED BUT HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE TYPES OF VEHICLES. WE STARTED NOTICING AFTER A FILL UP AT THE GAS STATION THE GAS GAUGE STILL SHOWED EMPTY. THE GAUGE TOOK OVER AN HOUR OF DRIVING TO MOVE UP TO FULL. I'VE HAD MY 2005 ENVOY FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND HAD MY HEADLIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND FREWAY. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY AY NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT COMPLETELY FOR A FEW SECONDS. I WAS SO SCARED WSS REALLY GLAD FOR NO ONE BEHIND ME OR ON COMING TRAFFIC. ON ANOTHER OCCASSION I HAD TO PULL OVER ON CITY STREET AS MY LIGHTS WERE GOING ON AND OFF AND I COULD SEE THE CAR AHEAD WAS A COP AND I DIDNT WANT HIM TO THINK I WAS FLASHING FOR HELP ESPECIALLY AT 2 IN THE MORNING. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AFTER DARK AND MY LOW BEAMS COMPLETELY WENT OUT. I COULD ONLY GET MY HIGH BEAMS TO WORK. CURRENTLY ONLY ONE LOW BEAM IS WORKING AND THE OTHER WILL NOT WORK EVEN AFTER CHANGING THE BULB OR THE FUSE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY HAVING A YOUNG CHILD. AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THE ODOMETER AND ALL THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS WENT TO ZERO. THIS HAS HAPPENED OFTEN OVER THE YEARS. I TOOK IT TO TWO GMC CAR DEALERSHIPS AND THE FIRST ONE SAID IT WAS THE KILL SWITCH INSTALLED BY A BUY HERE PAY HERE DEALERSHIP. THE KILL SWITCH WAS REMOVED AND THE DASHBOARD CONTINUED TO FLICKER. THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT START, I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE CAR BEGAN TO TRIBBLE, AGAIN I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO CLEAN THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. I DID THAT AND BOUGHT A BATTERY BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP. THE TOW DRIVER SAID IT SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BUT THE CAR DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND A SOLUTION. HAVE YOU HAD THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE? NOT TO CONFUSE THE COMPLAINT, I HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES. 1. The contact's grandmother owns a 2005 GMC Envoy XL. The contact stated that his grandmother was driving 45 MPH and while slowing down to take a curve, the steering became very firm. She was able to safely pull off the road and turn off the vehicle. The contact said she heard a whining sound coming from the power steering pump and then observed the power steering fluid in the engine compartment and power steering fluid on the road. The contact stated that she was unaware of any warning lights. The contact took the vehicle to a local service station and filled the power steering pump reservoir and drove the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the power steering fluid was still leaking from the vehicle. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V455000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.

I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY DENALI 4X4 AND 'VE RUN OUT OF GAS 3 TIMES IN THE 4 YEARS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE AND EVERY TIME THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKS MAKING THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO BE MOVED FROM THE PLACE IT DECIDES TO FINALLY COME TO A REST AT- AND CAUSING NOTHING SHORT OF A GIANT SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOUR CAR IS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND YOU ARE NOT ONLY TRYING TO EXIT YOUR CAR BUT NOT CAUSE A COLLISION WHEN IT IS IN A BLIND SPOT OF A TURN OF OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD WHEN IT FINALLY COMES TO A STOP. I LIVE IN NH AND THERE ARE MANY MOUNTAIN LIKE AREAS AND IF IT EVER HAPPENED AT THE BOTTOM OF A HILL OR A WINDY MOUNTAIN ROAD I'D PROBABLY BE DEAD. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING, THE OUTER TIE RODS, AND THE UPPER BALL JOINTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE TIE ROD AND THE WHEEL BEARING WERE REPLACED. POWER STEERING HOSE RUPTURED ON MY WIFE'S 2005 GMC ENVOY THANKFULLY JUST AS SHE WAS ENTERING OUR DRIVEWAY. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE HOSE ASSEMBLY AS THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 48,000 MI ON IT AND IN 40+ YEARS OF DRIVING HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE ROADWAY I BELIEVE IT MAY HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS IT RESULTED IN ALMOST TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. WHILE DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT WAS SETTLED IN 2008 BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED AS COVERED IN THE SUIT. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE COVERED AS MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE ONES COVERED IN THE SETTLEMENT. WE PARKED OUR GMC ENVOY IN THE DRIVEWAY THE EVENING OF 6/8/13 AROUND 7:30 PM. I HADN'T USED THE REAR HATCH AT ALL ON THIS DAY. THE REAR WINDSHIELD OF MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL EXPLODED FOR NO APPARENT REASON TODAY. I LIFTED THE FULL HATCH (NOT JUST THE WINDOW SECTION) TO PLACE ITEMS IN THE BACK THAT I HAD PURCHASED AT HOME DEPOT. I PLACED A CAN OF PAINT, ONE BAG, AND A BAG OF SAND IN THE BACK - NOTHING THAT WAS NEAR THE GLASS OF THE HATCH. I THEN CLOSED THE HATCH WITH ENOUGH FORCE FOR IT TO CLOSE SECURELY, BUT NOT WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. AS I WALKED TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO ENTER THE CAR, I HEARD A LOUD POP THAT I THOUGHT WAS SOMEONE HITTING THE BACK OF MY CAR WITH THEIR VEHICLE. AS I WALKED AROUND TO THE BACK, MY REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED INTO A MILLION TINY PIECES. I HAVE A 2005 ENVOY THAT I PURCHASED LESS THAN A YEAR AGO FROM A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. ON THE DAY OF THE FAILURE, I DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I FOUND THAT THE BACK TRUNK HATCH HAD SOMEHOW OPENED ON ITS OWN, CAUSING IT TO SEPARATE FROM THE GLASS. THE TRUNK HATCH WAS BROKEN IN SUCH A MANNER THAT IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT ON BY ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL OR OBJECT. AFTER NOTICING THIS DEFECT, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. THE AUTOMOBILE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY WHERE THEY FILED A CLAIM WITH THE WARRANTY COMPANY. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DECIDED THAT THE STRUTS WERE NOT THE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT AND WORKED PROPERLY AND COULD NOT HYPOTHESIS ON WHY THIS FAILURE HAD OCCURRED. HE REPORTED THIS TO THE WARRANTY COMPANY WHO THUS DENIED THE CLAIM BECAUSE THEY DO NOT COVER THE GLASS ON THE AUTOMOBILE. I WAS DISPLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME AND CONTACTED BOTH THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND THE GMC HEADQUARTERS MYSELF, HOPING THAT THIS INITIATIVE WOULD RESOLVE THE SITUATION. I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM IN THE PAST WITH THE FUEL GAUGE READING EMPTY CONTINUOUSLY AS I HAVE READ FROM MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS. RECENTLY I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. AT FIRST THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED INTERMITTENTLY AND THEN THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE DROPPED TO ZERO, AT WHICH TIME THE MESSAGE IN ON THE LCD READING SAID "STOP ENGINE" AND "OIL PRESSURE LOW". I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MY GAS STATION AND CHECKED THE OIL, WHICH WAS ONLY DOWN A 1/4 TANK. MY MECHANIC STOPPED THE CAR AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE RESET ITSELF BUT ONCE I STARTED TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN, THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED. MY MECHANIC BELIEVES IT IS ANOTHER SENSOR PROBLEM LIKE THE FUEL SENSOR BUT IS NOT COMPLETELY SURE. I OWN A 2005 ENVOY SLE. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WAS A RESULT OF A TIRE BLOWOUT. I WAS CHANGING LANES ON A CITY STREET. I MOVED FROM THE RIGHT LANE TO THE LEFT LANE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT WANT TO ADJUST TO MOVING OVER. I THAN ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE AND IT BEGAN TO FISH TAIL. I TRIED TO CORRECT THE VEHICLE FROM SWERVING AND I HIT THE GUARD RAIL. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE REAR TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS FLAT. I DID NOT HIT THE GUARD RAIL WITH THE REAR OF THE CAR ONLY THE FRONT. I BELIEVE THE BLOWOUT WAS THE REASON THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL. I AM SAVING THE TIRE TO HAVE SOMEONE INSPECT IT JUST TO SEE IF MY CLAIMS COULD BE RIGHT. I purchased my vehicle in oct of 2021 in Nov 2021 is when my car started failing my car started to lose power also started smoking from the lower passenger side no warning lights came on besides the oil warning light since Nov 2021 my car has been losing power it only goes up to about 40 m.p.h I have been smelling fuel coming from some where my tail and license plate light and back driver side inside car light stopped working the engine light turns on and off the steering wheel makes the car lose a little bit of power when I turn the wheel or when I roll up and down the windows or adjust my seat my ac does not work the back ac turns on by it's self to the heater does not work when I have it turned all the way to the 5 I hear clicking knocking noises in the back passenger side of the car my fuel injectors had puddles of oil in them the car gets really hot and blows hot air the engine is always hot the seatbelt lights are constantly flashing my check engine light as of today flashes on and off and the car jumps also my car caught on fire under the hood where the O2 sensor is started smoking than caught on fire.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 GMC ENVOY MY SPEEDOMETER WILL STOP WORKING AND REGISTER AS 0 MPH EVEN WHEN I AM MOVING. IT ALSO HAS SHOWN ME TRAVELLING AT A MUCH HIGHER SPEED AT TIMES. THERE ARE MANY ISSUES WITH THIS THAT I'VE FOUND WHILE SEARCHING THE WEB. IT IS UNNERVING AND DANGEROUS TO NOT KNOW THE SPEED YOU ARE TRAVELING. I just want to add to my recent complaint made December 2021 file number 11444000 when our left side brake failed to disengage completely causing the vehicle to vear left into 2 traffic light poles. recently have the front end rebuilt and noticed the seat belts needs to be replaced or rebuilt but the passenger side belt is retracted so hard I cant get it off the seat, it is crushing the seat basically and I see other complaints of this happening and almost suffocating the passenger. I was lucky my wife was not with or the belt would have pinned her in, the driver belt is stuck as it was when i removed it.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD "IT'S OK. FORGET IT." ON 01-09-2009 WHILE TRAVELING ON TEXAS HIGHWAY 60, I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SET FOR 70 MPH. TRAFFIC WAS NORMAL BUT CONTINUALLY PASSED ME AS IF I WAS GOING SLOWER. I PULLED OVER AT A CONVENIENCE STORE AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERED 45 MPH IN PARK. I CONTINUED HOME GAUGING SPEED BY THE OTHER TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. ON 01-14-2009, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE IN THE VEHICLE RETURNING FROM SCHOOL. THE SPEEDOMETER APPEARED TO BE WORKING. AT APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM WHILE DRIVING HOME, THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS BEGAN TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THEMSELVES. AT THE SAME TIME, THE A/C WENT TO MAXIMUM HEAT AND HIGH BLOWER. MY WIFE STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT IN PARK. THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, STRIKING MY DAUGHTER IN THE LEFT TEMPLE RESULTING IN A MILD CONCUSSION. ONSTAR NOTIFIED THE POLICE OF A COLLISION. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO REFERRED ME TO GMC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE. THE AGENT TOLD ME THAT THIS KIND OF THING HAPPENS WHEN TRAVELING TOO FAST AND TURNING TOO SHARP. AN INVESTIGATOR WAS DISPATCHED TO GATHER COMPUTER INFORMATION AND DETERMINE IF THERE HAD BEEN A COLLISION. HIS RESULTS WERE THERE WAS NO COLLISION AND THE BAGS DEPLOYED PER COMMAND FROM THE VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM BASED ON THE VEHICLE TRAVELING 20 MPH AND TURNING TOO SHARP. THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY TRAVELING 20 MPH ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET IN A STRAIGHT LINE. TURNING RIGHT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN GOING THROUGH A FENCE AND LEFT WOULD HAVE PUT THE VEHICLE IN A PARK. GMC REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE THE DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THE DRIVER'S ACCOUNT FURTHER. I CONTACTED A LOCAL GM DEALER WHO HAS AS MUCH CONCERN ABOUT THIS INCIDENT AS I DO. IT SHOWED AJAR ON THE DASH. AS STATED ABOVE WHEN WE PULLED AWAY AT A GREEN LIGHT, THE DOOR FLUNG OPEN LIKE A TRUCK BED STYLE WITH THE WINDOW UP. THE DOOR IS NOT DESIGNED TO OPEN TRUCKBED STYLE WITH THE WINDOW UP, THE WINDOW NEEDS TO BE IN THE OPEN POSITION BEFORE IT WILL OPEN TRUCK BED STYLE. EVEN IF YOU WERE TO ACTIVATE THE TRUCKBED LATCH OPENER, THE DOOR WOULD SENSE THAT THE WINDOW WAS UP AND DEFAULT TO THE SIDE SWING METHOD. I BOUGHT A 2005 GMC ENVOY USED BUT IN GOOD SHAPE. AFTER ABOUT 5000. MILES THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO READ 120 MPH. IT RESET ITSELF A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT NOW IT'S COMPLETELY STUCK AT THE 120. THEN A DAY OR SO LATER IT WILL BE FINE. ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I REPLACED THE GAS CAP SINCE THE OWNERS MANUAL SAID IT COULD BE A FAULTY GAS CAP. IT HELPED FOR A FEW DAYS BUT IT'S BACK ON. THE FUEL GAUGE IS INOPERABLE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE IN THE 2004 -2007 GMC ENVOY, CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS AND BUICK RANIER. I KNOW AT LEAST 4 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS NOT A CLASS ACTION ISSUE BUT TO MANY COMMENTS ARE ON THE INTERNET. THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AT INTERSECTIONS AND PARKING LOTS WHEN PROCEEDING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AFTER BEING STOPPED. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY STATED THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE WITH THE GM PRODUCTS. GM SHOULD BE RECALL ALL VEHICLES AND REPLACE THE FUEL SENDING UNITS AT NO CHARGE OR A REDUCED CHARGE(COST OF PART OR LABOR WHICHEVER IS THE LEAST COST TO THE OWNER). THE GOVERNMENT HAS BAILED THEM OUT NOW IT IS TIME FOR GM TO DO THE RIGHT THING. ALSO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY ALSO AND THIS RESULTED IN SPEEDING TICKETS. I HAVE REPLACED WITH A REMANUFACTURED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT THE COST OF $150.00 VS $600.00 WITH THE LOCAL GM DEALER.

THE GUAGES HAVE GONE CRAZY, ENG LIGHT POPS ON AND OFF, ABS LIGHT?, I AM AFRAID THAT THE COMPUTER MAY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING? HAVE BEEN TOLD MECHANIC THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED

DT: CONSUMER OWNS A '05 GMC ENVOY AND HAS DIFFICULTY TOWING A TRAILER WITHIN GM RATES, GM STATES THAT HIS ENVOY CAN TOW A WEIGHT OF 5,800 POUND CAPACITY, HOWEVER HE FEELS THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO MANEUVER A TRAVEL TRAILER OF 3,400 POUND CAPACITY. THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. CONSUMER HAS PULLED THE TRAILER WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND IT PULLS FINE BUT WHEN ATTACHED TO THE ENVOY THERE IS A PROBLEM. CONSUMER FEELS IT IS NOT WITH THE SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE BUT WITHIN THE ENGINE WHICH IS A V6. WHEN PULLING TRAILER FOR A DISTANCE AS LITTLE AS 2 MILES THE ENGINE HEATS UP, AND HE EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF SPEED AND ENGINE THE BOGS DOWN TO 30 MPH. ENVOY IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 373 AXLE RATIO AND CAN NOT PULL AN ENCLOSED 24FT TRAVEL TRAILER ON IT'S 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. THE 2ND TRIP TO DEALER, THE SERVICE MANAGER DID DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED THE CONSUMER NEEDED A V8 ENGINE. ALSO, THERE IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. CONSUMER GAVE EXAMPLES OF AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS UNLOCKING BY THEMSELVES AND THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM ENABLING ITSELF RESULTING IN A SHUTDOWN OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALER 10 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEMS. THE DEALER SAID GM WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE REPAIR UNLESS THEY COULD DUPLICATE PROBLEM. HAS CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT LEAST 100 TIMES FOR THESE ISSUES WITHOUT ANY LUCK. NO REPAIRS OR CORRECTIONS AS A RESULT. CONSUMER IS STILL EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS AS A RESULT. *JB

FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION. I FILLED THE TANK OF MY VEHICLE, 2005 GMC ENVOY XL, I RAN OUT OF GAS GOING UP AN INCLINED LEVEL OF A PARKING GARAGE TWO STORIES UNDERGROUND DURING RUSH HOUR IN D.C. I COULD HAVE EASILY LET MY SUV RUN INTO THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME BUT, I WAS FORTUNATE TO REACT QUICKLY AND AVOID HARM'S WAY. THE PROBLEM WITH GAUGE IS IT WILL READ FULL WHEN EMPTY AT TIMES AND; SHORTLY THEREAFTER, YOU HAVE TOTAL FAILURE OF THE GAUGE - IT WILL NO LONGER PROPERLY READ OR REGISTER HOW MUCH GAS ONE HAS IN THEIR FUEL TANK. I THOUGHT THAT THIS MIGHT BE A LIMITED PROBLEM TO A FEW SUVS MANUFACTURED BY GMC BUT, AFTER DOING RESEARCH OF SEVERAL CAR FORUMS INTERNET SITES I DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE PURCHASED A GM WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM - INCLUDING SOME VEHICLES OLDER THAN THE YEAR 2000. WHAT RECOURSE DO WE AS CONSUMERS HAVE , IF ANY? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR HEAD LAMPS FAILED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITHOUT WARNING. AS A CONSEQUENCE, VISIBILITY IS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED, WHICH INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

"LIKE A COP CAR" TO THE POINT WE PRESSED ON STAR-AFRAID THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL ON BUSY/DARK FREEWAY. WHEN I CALLED A DEALER THEY SAID OH "THAT'S NORMAL" YOU HAD TO MUCH RUNNING AND NEW CARS CAN NOT HANDLE "HEATER/RADIO ETC. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WITH THE MEMORY SEATS AND MIRRORS. ON PRIOR YEAR ENVOYS, WHEN YOU PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE REMOTE, THE SEATS AND MIRRORS WOULD RECALL TO THAT DRIVERS POSITION. NOW YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE 1 OR 2 BUTTON ON THE DOOR, WHILE IN PARK, TO RECALL THE SEAT AND MIRROR POSITIONS. THERE IS NO TIE WITH THE REMOTE AND THE MEMORY SEATS. On steering wheel where the GMC logo is . Melted/Melting from underneath. Some type of clear color gooey. Have been told it is seal for airbag. Also none of the chimes are not working at all example * seat belts, door,blinkers,dashboard chimes *dummy lights*,along with Bose stereo. Last issues are REAR VIEW MIRROR... KEEPS FALLING OFF. have taken to dealership SEVERAL TIMES! Now they are saying that I need to contact my auto insurance provider to put in claims.

All the gages have stopped working correctly. They do not report proper information to driver . The electrical wiring to the rear wiper, license plate lights and rear hatch stopped working. The most dangerous thing is the ABS brake system dash lights and bell comes on every time the car is driven and the brake pedal goes to the floor when trying to stop.

This suv made a loud sound, began to drift, in the rear, at hwy speeds before it tipped over and began to roll, ejecting my two minor sons from the passenger cab before it eventually landed on its side. the roof was molded in a triangular shape, preventing it from resting on the roof as it tilted back onto inside and remains after the last roll The triangular shape was created in the metal after the stabilizing structures gave way almost immediately providing possibly no protection to the patrons inside the carrier cab of suv. demonstrating its inability protect its occupants.

MY VEHICLE WHEN PURCHASED WAS ALTERED FROM CLOTH SEATS TO LEATHER BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. 3 DAYS AGO MY CAR IS SIGNALING ME TO SERVICE AIRBAG WHILE DRIVING THE CAR OR IN IDLE. SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AT MEINEKE AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ON MY YEAR, MAKE & MODEL SUV. I CALLED GM ON 11/29/2019 AND WAS TOLD BY A SUPERVISOR NAMED ANGEL THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALLS BY THEIR MANUFACTURER AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE SHE CAN DO ABOUT THE MATTER. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR LIKE THIS KNOWING THIS CAN BE POTENTIALLY HARMFUL AND HAZARDOUS.

I HAD TROUBLE WITH THE GAUGE THAT SHOWS OVERHEATING.I TOOK THE CAR IN TO PUT IN A THERMOSTAT THINKING IT WAS THE PROBLEM,BUT WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THAT MY CLUSTER WAS BAD AND THE GAUGES WERE MESSED UP.I PAID $392.00 FOR THE CLUSTER AND $100.00 FOR LABOR.I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 119,000 MILES ON IT ON 6/20/2011 AND ON 2/23/2013 I HAD THE CLUSTER REPLACED WITH MILEAGE OF 132,356. I PUT ON NEW BRAKES AT THIS TIME SINCE THE HAD A HABIT OF GRABBING AND MAKING ME SLIDE AND JERK TO A STOP.THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE NOW IS THE THE DOOR LOCKS MESS UP ONCE IN AWHILE BUT OTHER THAN THAT I TAKE MY ENVOY IN EVERY 4000 MILES FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND A CHECK UP IT IS NOW 12/15/2015 AND I ONLY HAVE 142,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS STILL RUNNING OK.I KEEP CHECKING ONCE A MONTH FOR RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE SOMETIMES A DOME LIGHT WILL COME ON .BUT NOT OFTEN.MY ENVOY HAS NOT RUST AND THE INTERIOR IS IN AS GOOD AS IT WAS WHEN I PURCHASED IT FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHICH IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

WHEN BACKING THE VEHICLE TO LEAVE A LOCAL RESTAURANT, DRIVER STRUCK VEHICLE BEHIND HER. THIS HAPPENED SO QUICKLY THAT IT WAS UNKNOWN TO THE DRIVER HOW THE VEHICLE TRAVELED SO QUICKLY THAT DRIVER HAD NOT EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID STRIKING THE OTHER VEHICLE. DRIVER PLACED VEHICLE IN DRIVE TO PULL OVER TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE. WHEN PLACED INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE DESPITE THE BRAKES BEING APPLIED. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A BRICK RESTAURANT. DAMAGE WAS ALSO DONE TO THE INTERIOR BATHROOM OF THE FACILITY AND THE BUSINESS HAD TO CLOSE TO ASSURE SAFETY OF IT'S STAFF/CUSTOMERS. WITNESS STATES THE VEHICLE WAS OBVIOUSLY LURCHING AND APPEARED TO HAVE A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. THE DRIVER'S FOOT BOUNCED OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL ON IMPACT LODGING IT UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE PEDAL. PURCHASED THE 2005 GMC ENVOY XUV USED IN 2009 WITH 41000 MILES. WITHIN 3 MONTHS THE ENVOY STARTED HAVING REAR DOOR LATCH FAILURES. THE REAR DOOR AND GLASS CAN BE OPENED IN A TRADITIONAL SIDE DOOR MODE OR A TRUCK BED MODE. FREQUENTLY THE ELECTRONIC LATCHES THAT OPERATE TO LET THE DOOR FUNCTION IN EITHER WAY WOULD FAIL. THE ENVOY HAS BEEN IN SEVERAL TIMES OVER THREE YEARS TO HAVE ALL THE LATCHES REPAIRED AND OR REPLACED. EACH LATCH HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE LATCHES FAIL, AND THEY HAVE FAILED IN A CONFIGURATION THAT WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR IN A SIDE DOOR WAY, THREE LATCHES LET LOSE AND THE DOOR FELL OPEN WITH ONLY ONE LATCH HOLING THE REAR DOOR ON. I WAS FORCED TO HAVE TO LIFT THE DOOR BACK INTO THE SLOTS WHERE THE DOOR PEGS LOCK INTO THE LATCHES. ONE TIME THREE LATCHES FAILED AND I HAD TO USE BUNGEE CORDS TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED SO THAT I COULD DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE LATCHES REPLACED. THE DEALER CHARGES ME 50 DOLLARS PER VISIT PER THE WARRANTY, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HAS TO GO IN AT LEAST 3 TIMES A YEAR TO HAVE THE LATCHED LOOKED AT AND REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THEY REPLACE THE FIXED LATCHES AT NO COST BUT I STILL GET CHARGED 50 DOLLARS FOR THE VISIT. THE WARRANTY IS SOON TO BE OFF THIS VEHICLE. ALSO THE GAS GAUGE FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY WITHIN MONTHS OF OWNING THE ENVOY. THE GAS GAUGE WOULD SHOW MORE FUEL THEN WHAT I HAD, OR SHOW NO FUEL WHATSOEVER EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE GAS TANK UP. THE GAUGE NEEDLE WOULD BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH ALL THE TIME OR GET STUCK FULL OR EMPTY AS WELL. IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS A BAD FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IN THE TANK. IT WAS REPLACED. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT PINIONS OF THE ENVOY TWICE DURING THE THREE YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT BECAUSE THEY WERE LEAKING. IN JUNE OF 2007 I COULD NOT CLOSE EITHER OF THE REAR DOORS ON MY VEHICLE. THEY FAILED APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS APART. I WAS TRANSPORTING TWO GRAND CHILDREN AT THE TIME. THANK HEAVEN THEY WERE YOUNG ENOUGH TO REQUIRE CAR SEATS. WE WERE AT THE MERCY OF STRANGERS ON THE HIGHWAY. WITH DONATED ROPE TO SECURE THE DOORS WE MADE IT HOME. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLIES. I PAID $125 FOR LABOR ONLY. THE DEALER MUST HAVE REPLACED THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLIES WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART. ON 10/12/10 THE LEFT REAR DOOR FAILED AGAIN! AFTER TYING THE DOOR AND USING DUCT TAPE TO SECURE IT I DROVE THE 30 MILES TO THE NEAREST DEALER. ALTHOUGH I HAD TO PAY $295.35 TO REPLACE THE LEFT REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO DO IT IMMEDIATELY. I AM NOW CARRYING ROPE AND DUCT TAPE IN ANTICIPATION OF FAILURE OF THE RIGHT REAR DOOR LOCK. MY VEHICLE IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. MAINTENANCE IS FOLLOWED RELIGIOUSLY. (THERE IS NOTHING IN THE MANUAL TO INDICATE DOOR LOCKS SHOULD BE CHECKED. LUBRICATED BUT NOT CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE FAILURE.) THESE FAILURES ARE IN NO WAY MY RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN THAT CAN VERY WELL END IN INJURY. I WOULD HAVE ASSUMED THAT GM WOULD HAVE BEEN CONCERNED AND IF NOT ISSUE A RECALL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE LOCKS. HAVE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS CHECK THESE LOCKS WHEN VEHICLES ARE BROUGHT IN FOR NORMAL MAINTENANCE. WHILE THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EACH TRIP, IT DOES OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES EACH WEEK. FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION - READS ONE-HALF TANK AT 179 MILES; 20 MILES LATER READS ONE-QUARTER TANK. ISSUES "FUEL LEVEL LOW" WARNING AFTER REFUELING AND FOR NEXT 3 TO 4 TIMES VEHICLE IS STARTED HEADLIGHTS DIM BRIEFLY WHEN ACCELERATOR IS RELEASED. FREQUENT NEED TO REPLACE EXTERIOR LAMPS THE PROBLEMS FIRST MANIFEST IN THE NEED TO REPEATEDLY CHANGE BRAKE AND TAILLIGHT BULBS, AND THE DIMMING OF THE HEADLIGHTS, WHICH CONTINUES. AFTER THAT I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR OVER 800.$ A WEEK LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. NOW I HAVE THE 4WD DISCONNECTED FOR SAFETY REASONS. I WOULD BE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 60-75 MPH AND IF WOULD SWITCH AND NOT COME OUT NO MATTER WHAT I DO. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS AND IT HAS DONE THIS THE WHOLE TIME. THE GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND SHOWS THAT THE VEHICLE IS ON EMPTY. THE "LOW FUEL' INDICATOR ON THE DASH WILL BLINK RANDOMLY AND "DING" TO DRAW MY ATTENTION TO IT. I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE REAR WHEN I WOULD TURN ON THE AC AND THE STEERING WAS OFF SOMEWHAT. I HAD THE STEERING FIXED FOR AROUND $400 BUT THE KNOCKING WAS GOING TO COST AROUND THE SAME AMOUNT. WHEN LOCAL GMC SERVICE DEPT. WAS CALLED BY OWNER TO INQUIRE ABOUT PROBLEM, SERVICE TECH SAID HE HAD NO REPORTS OF SUCH SITUATION. THE SURGE HAPPENED AGAIN ON 10/31/08 AND THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE WHO ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SENSATION. ON 11/17/08 WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, AFTER TURNING WHEELS SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT TO GO AROUND A ROAD EQUIPMENT VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT, UPON REMOVING FOOT FROM BRAKE, THE DENALI LUNGED FORWARD ENOUGH TO BUMP THE TIRE OF THE EQUIPMENT VEHICLE AND THEN IT ACCELERATED AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED. THERE WERE NO BRAKES WHEN AN EFFORT WAS MADE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. STEERING OF VEHICLE WAS HARD DUE TO POWER STEERING FAILURE . VEHICLE JUMPED UPON A CURB, DRIVER FORCEFULLY TURNED STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID HITTING A BRICK BUILDING AS ACCELERATION WAS STILL ONGOING. VEHICLE CRASHED THROUGH A STEEL GARAGE DOOR AND CONTINUED UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO A RETAINING COLUMN AT WHICH TIME THE MOTOR WAS TURNED OFF. THE IMPACT OF THE COLLISION COULD BE FELT UP TO THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE BUILDING. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. ON ONE OCCASION, THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF COMPLETELY AND HIS WIFE HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE HAZARD LIGHTS FLASHING. THE ISSUE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FOUR TIMES AND THEY CHANGED THE SWITCHES AND RECALIBRATED THE LIGHTS. THE REPAIRS CAUSED OTHER FAILURES; THEREFORE, THEY RECALIBRATED TO THE ORIGINAL LIGHTS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. I PURCHASED A 2005 GMC ENVOY IN SEPTEMBER 2005. IN THE PAST YEAR (SINCE JANUARY 2007, AT LEAST), I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. THE FIRST PROBLEM IS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. EVERYTIME I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE THE HEADLIGHTS APPEAR TO DIM/FLICKER AND THEN RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS HAS RESULTED IN ONCOMING VEHICLES TURNING THEIR BRIGHT LIGHTS ON ME THINKING MY BRIGHTS ARE ON WHEN IN REALITY MY HEADLIGHTS ARE DIMMING AND THEN RETURNING TO NORMAL. THE SECOND PROBLEM CONCERNS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. ANYTIME A CERTAIN WEIGHT LIMIT IS MET OR EXCEEDED THE AIRBAG SENSOR IS SUPPOSED TO SWITCH TO ON, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE AIRBAG SENSOR HASN'T RECOGNIZED IT. THE MOTOR SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GRINDING AND WANTED TO MOVE, BUT THE SEAT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THE MOST EXTREME PROBLEM TO DATE HAS BEEN WITH THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND THEN NOT STARTING OR EVEN TURNING OVER AT ALL. EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR, AT LEAST, THE LAST MONTH WHEN I GO TO START THE VEHICLE IT FAILS TO START AND IT TAKES A MINIMUM OF 1 HOUR TO GET IT STARTED. ONE INSTANCE IN PARTICULAR WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WAS WHILE MY WIFE AND I WERE ON THE FREEWAY. WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND WE WERE FORCED TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER. WE SAT THERE FOR ALMOST AN HOUR IN TEMPERATURES OF 13 DEGREES TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THERE HAVE BEEN COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS OF OTHER ENVOY OWNERS EXPERIENCING THESE SAME PROBLEMS. SOME DEALERS HAVE ACTUALLY SAID THAT THESE FAILURES/PROBLEMS ARE NORMAL!!!! WHAT!?!?! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, THE VEHICLE DRAMATICALLY DECELERATES AS IF THE ENGINE WAS STALLING. THE ENGINE AND OIL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, BUT THE OIL LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOUR TIMES AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE P.C. ANOTHER DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE DRAGS WHEN TRAVELING UPHILL, WHICH WAS PROBABLY DUE TO THE CLUTCH FANS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. AFTER ALL FOUR REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, HER VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAILURES. SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,809 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

REPORTED EARLIER GAS ODOMETER BROKE WHEN FUELING VEHICLE ON 2 SEPERATE OCCASSIONS, FIRST TIME FIXED, THEN AGAIN WHILE FUELING GAS, IT BROKE. FAILED TO MENTION MY PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEEDODOMETER. TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC ENVOY. THE HEADLIGHTS, DASHBOARD, AND TAIL LIGHTS FLASHED RANDOMLY AT ANY SPEED, THIS FAILURE STARTED IN OCTOBER OF 2006. THE WEATHER AND TIME OF DAY WERE NOT FACTORS IN THE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THERE WERE TSBS FOR THE FAILURE, AS WELL AS FOR SEVERAL OTHERS. THE FUEL NECK HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE DUE TO A DESIGN CHANGE. THE SEAL AROUND THE LICENSES PLACE HOLDER CAME LOOSE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SQUEAKING, THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE FOR SERVICE ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND REPLACED THE SERPENTINE BELT TWICE, AN AIRBAG SENSOR, THE REAR WIPER ARM, THE OXYGEN SENSOR TWICE ,THE FIRST TIME AT 7000 MILES. THERE WERE CRUISE CONTROL FAILURES, WHEN THE CONTACT TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT HESITATED AND THEN SURGED. THE WEATHER STRIPPING ON THE REAR DOORS HAS BEEN REPAIRED THREE TIMES. THE ABS WOULD SKIP ON A BUMPY ROAD AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AT ONE POINT THE CONTACT COULD SMELL FUEL IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND VEHICLE HAD VERY POOR GAS MILEAGE, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT AIR VALVE BECAME STUCK AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE REAR DOOR HINGES SQUEAKED. THIS WINTER IT WON'T GO TO FULL VOLTAGE UNTIL A MINUTE ELAPSED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STARTED. THE ORIGINAL FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3829, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23700.*AK THE BRAKES WERE INOPERATIVE, THE BELTS SQUEAKED, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY, THE REAR WIPER WOULD ONLY WIPE THE MIDDLE OF THE BACK WINDSHIELD. FIRST THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE DEALER REPLACED A BELT FOR 200.00. SECONDLY THE GAS GAUGE STOPPED READING FUEL LEVELS, DEALER STATED THAT THE SENSOR WAS DEAD AND WOULD COST 300.00 TO REPLACE. NEXT THE ENGINE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OVER AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. ALSO THEY HAD A SUNROOF INSTALLED FOR ME. MY SON WAS KILLED IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT ON 4/18/06. HE WAS EJECTED THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IN WHICH THE TOP PART OF THE DOOR WAS PULLED AWAY FROM THE ROOF OF THE CAR DURING THE ROLLOVER. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ENTERING THE FREEWAY ON RAMP. THE RAMP IS CONTROLLED BY A SIGNAL AND I WAS WAITING MY TURN WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED. I WAS COASTING DOWNHILL INTO ANOTHER CAR WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES. I BUMPED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME DAMAGING THE FRONT GRILL AND HOOD OF MY CAR. ON THE NIGHT OF SATURDAY (AT 9 P.M.), DECEMBER 10, 2005, I DROVE MY GMC ENVOY SLT TO MICHAEL'S. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT, MY DAUGHTER AND I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE PARKED THE CAR, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AGAIN. SEVERAL ICONS THAT HAD NEVER BEEN DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN APPEARED, AND MY VEHICLE'S CLOCK REFLECTED 12:00. THE CLOCK WAS SET FOR THE CORRECT TIME INITIALLY, AND NEVER TAMPERED . WE SHOPPED FOR 20 MINUTES AND RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE, STARTED IT UP AND AGAIN SEVERAL ICONS APPEARED. THE CLOCK SAID 12:00 THOUGH IT WAS 9:30 P.M. WE DROVE THROUGH OUR NEIGHBORHOOD VIEWING SOME CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. AS I PULLED ONTO OUR DRIVEWAY AND BEGAN BREAKING TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND AND PARK IT OUTSIDE OF OUR GARAGE, IT DID NOT RESPOND TO BREAKING. WHEN I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN HARDER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED AT THE SAME SPEED. I SCREAMED THAT WE WERE GOING TO HIT THE GARAGE DOOR, AND AT THAT MOMENT FELT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATE ALTHOUGH I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED DOWN ALL THE WAY. IT SLAMMED THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR, I QUICKLY SHIFTED INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. MY FRONT AND MY DAUGHTER'S FRONT PASSENGER DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED AND WE SMELLED GAS. MY HUSBAND CALLED 911 AND EMERGENCY VEHICLES RESPONDED. THEY DETERMINED IT SHOULD BE SAFE BUT ASKED THE FURNACE BE TURNED DOWN SO THAT IT WOULD NOT CAUSE ANY COMBUSTION AND TO KEEP THE AREA VENTILATED.. THE GARAGE DOOR WAS TOTALLY DEMOLISHED, AND DRYWALL DAMAGES IN SEVERAL SPOTS. A TECHNICIAN FROM OVERHEAD GARAGE DOORS REMOVED THE REMNANTS OF THE DOOR. MY DAUGHTER'S CAR HAD MINOR PAINT AND DENT DAMAGE AS IT WAS IN THE GARAGE ALREADY. GM'S ROADSIDE TOWING HAULED THE ENVOY ONTO A FLATBED TO TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP.
