The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH in a rainstorm, the front windshield wiper blades suddenly malfunctioned and ceased operation creating a visibility hazard to the driver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the windshield wiper motor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that parts for NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V165000 (Visibility) were not yet available. A temporary fix was provided by the dealer. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000.

The contact stated while driving 50-55 MPH in a rainstorm, the windshield wipers stopped working and remained stuck in the middle of the windshield. The contact's husband depressed the brake pedal and veered to the side of the road until the rain stopped. The contact's husband continued driving to his destination. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the windshield wiper arm assemblies, module, and blades needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. I own a 2015 GMC Terrain, 4D. Vehicle started displaying error P0016 during the evening of 07/27/2025, the following day the vehicle stopped working. I towed the vehicle to three different mechanics. All three mechanics indicated that the engine needs to be replaced. Two of the mechanics indicated that this was a common issue with this GMC SUV and I wanted to reported. P0016 states, "crankshaft position camshaft position correlation Bank 1". I am disappointed that this issue has not been reported or recall. There are multiple youtube videos and online chats regarding this issue.

I GOT IN MY CAR AND PROCEED TO DRIVE AND THE POWER LOW ENGINE SIGN CAME ON. TOOK TRUCK TO MECHANIC AND PAID $1000 BECAUSE GAS WAS GOING INTO MY ENGINE.

Catastrophic mechanical failure; engine failure. Below freezing day driving normally until the car just died right in the middle of a busy 4 lane road. No warning lights were displayed. Luckily I was able to drift the car over to the curb lane then manually push into a parking lot with cars driving around me. Vehicle taken to independent Auto Care Service which did an inspection stating the PCV valve was frozen which then caused the pressure to blow rear seal and metal fragments could be seen in the oil drippings. No issues or dashboard notifications prior to this event.

Oil consumption on this vehicle is terrible. All GMC for that matter. It burns in the engine and have to refill or top off multiple times a month.

Clogged manifold and engine head. Blockage buildup in manifold and Pcv valve causing exhaust problems. Oil sludge block air in head and manifold causing CEL to come on. And these vehicles drink engine oil like water. Gives code P0411

I have a failure occurring with the air bag system in my 2015 GMC Terrain SLE. There seems to be other air bag issues with this vehicle. This is yet another problem. I am aware that there is a technical bulletin that the manufacture has published concerning the failure I am experiencing, but there appears to be no recall. Specifically, I have a service air bag light on in the vehicle. The problem has been diagnosed to be the failure of the air bag passenger presence module. Since this is a safety feature, it seems it would warrant more than a technical bulletin.

I am writing to urgently request a safety recall for the GMC Terrain 2015 due to a critical issue with the lift gate mechanism, which may be both electrical and mechanical. Recently, while utilizing the lift gate for routine activities such as grocery shopping, a terrifying incident occurred that endangered the safety of my family members. Upon opening, the lift gate exhibited a concerning behavior, forcefully closing without warning or control, posing a severe risk of injury. Despite attempts to intervene, the gate continued its downward motion unabated, presenting a serious hazard of crushing limbs or causing incapacitating harm. In a frightening moment, one of my family members narrowly avoided a potentially catastrophic injury as the gate threatened to strike her right hand. While I sustained a minor injury to my arm, a superficial wound, the gravity of the situation cannot be understated. This dangerous malfunction persists, rendering the trunk unusable out of fear for the safety of myself and my loved ones. Given the potential for life-altering injuries, I implore you to take immediate action and initiate a recall for all GMC Terrain 2015 models affected by this defect. Not really sure if it is electrical but the Stabilitrak light came on and the car jerked and I could not go over 50 mph and that would be fine however when you are on a freeway and the speed limit is much greater you could cause and accident. I took the vehicle to a garage and they put it on there computer and reset it and it seemed to work OK until I again went on the freeway and the same thing happened. Again I took it back to the same garage and they recommended I take it to a GMC Dealer which I did and they could not find the problem either after spending around $600.00. I did take it to the GMC Dealer which the vehicle make is a GMC.The problem, to the best of my knowledge, started about April 2023.

I OWN A 2015 GMC TERRAIN. THE RADIO AND ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS RELATED TO THE TOUCH SCREEN HAVE FAILED RESULTING IN A BLACK SCREEN. THIS INCLUDES THE BACK UP CAMERA. THIS HAS ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO A MINOR ACCIDENT WHERE I BACK INTO A UTILITY POLE. GM STATES A NEW RADIO IS NECESSARY AT A COST OF $1287. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A VITAL PART OF THE VEHICLES OPERATION. The windshield wiper problem was repaired but I was told they did not have the correct parts to repair the headlights. After 3 days I was told the car was ready and I was assured by the service manager that the car was done. However, the headlights were not repaired..

The rear hatch would open but then start to slowly drop. The local dealership diagnosed the problem and told me the pump needed to be replaced but quoted $1000. I chose not to have the repair done at that time but recently the hatch opened and then dropped suddenly hitting me on the head. There were earlier model recalls for this problem but not on the 2015. This is a potentially dangerous condition.

Liftgate strut malfunctioned. Yes vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I activated the trunk with the key fob, while retrieving items out of my trunk, the trunk began closing on me without any warning. The liftgate sensor failed to recognize an object (ME), was in the trunk and nearly caused a severe crush injury which could have been fatal. Yes the problem was reproduce by an independent service center as well as a dealership. No the part was not inspected. There were no known warning lights or messages. Apparently as per consumers this is known problem with the 2010-2017 GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox.

On my back doors driver side and passenger side there is no child lock and when I lock all doors from inside while driving the back doors can still be opened allowing my baby child to open the door which is not safe

Vehicle hesitates and is sluggish on takeoff, causing a delay in intersections and when turning into traffic causing a safety hazard. Problem has yet to be found and determined. Problem worsens when the ECO option is turned on causing more of a safety hazard and inability to use the option.

There have been problems with the 2015 GMC Terrains Timing chain. The timing chain will break when the vehicle is being operated which causes the driver to lose complete control of the SUV, additionally, the engine will be destroyed. The bigger issue is the loss of control when you are driving - especially at highway speeds. GMC had hundreds of complaints but refused to issue a recall. A recall was issued but for only certain batches of VINs. I contacted GMC corporate service to inquire about what they are doing for the other owners who are experiencing the symptoms before the chain breaks. The representative told me they were only recalling certain VINS, I explained that it was not a fluke that my car was experiencing the same issues as the recalled ones. The response was they weren't recalling my VIN. I inquired why there were only some, not all, and she said it depends on what time of day the car was assembled the weather, and the place. Just bizarre this answer, my vehicle is the exact vehicle model that is being recalled and is experiencing the same problem - it makes no sense. So if I am driving on the highway or any road USA and my chain breaks I may kill myself as well as others. Then there is the cost to repair this defective part, by recalling certain VINs they are acknowledging there is a defect that they are responsible for. I want my vehicle repaired at the expense of GMC as they are the cause of the issue. I don't want to die or kill anyone. Can you please help me and many other owners who are dismayed and just confused and angry? My car is now stalling out while I am driving, or moving at all.

The timing belt on the GMC Terrains from 2013 to 2015, mostly 2015 are breaking at a unusual amount. If you google it , there is story after story about this problem and GMC has not done anything. This appears to be a problem with the Terrain and I want them to issue a recall before mine breaks. It is expensive to fix and it can also be a huge problem if it breaks when you are driving. Something has to be done as this is not a coincidence that this is occurring to a large amount of Terrains.

November 18,2021: Driving vehicle on the freeway 70mph, for 1.5 hours,then exit to a main street within speed limit during rush hour traffic. Parked the vehicle for 2.5 hours in a parking lot, returned to vehicle, turned onto street drove about 2 miles,30mph. The vehicle made a sound as if metal was being dragged, I tried to align the wheels but it was difficult. I turned on the emergency flashers & struggled to pull into a gas station parking lot,looked underneath the vehicle but saw nothing. The 2015 GMC Terrain AWD (less than 80,000miles) had to be towed to the GMC Dealership. November 19, 2021 service rep stated that the transfer case was damaged. Something broke a loose inside the case & caused damage, there are metal shavings visible. Cost for part, $2200 My response to him: What is a transfer case? Why is the part not inspected during regular maintenance? What warning would I have received if there was something wrong? Because it is a 2015 model & the platform for the vehicle has changed, GM supplier has to manufacture the part. It’s June 2022, the dealership notified me on the 10th that the part has been received. I can’t be the only consumer that has experienced this issue. In hindsight, luckily I was not on the freeway when this situation occurred.

THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 148,000.

First occurrence in September 2015. Rear lift gate acted abnormally, when I was parked,y son opened the lift gate using the normal door handle button, it raised, but as he was loading it lowered onto him. He is small, I had to get out and pull it off of him, it went up and down a couple times and then closed. You cannot stop it from closing down on you if you are trying to load or unload into that compartment. We have had to stop using altogether.

The contact had a dealer loaner vehicle, a 2015 GMC Terrain. The contact stated the liftgate raised up extremely fast and caused the hydraulic on the passenger side to detach. Once the hydraulic fell, the liftgate hit her in the head, and she became unconscious. A random person assisted contact. Once she became conscious she drove herself to an emergency. The contact was diagnosed with major injuries of spinal whiplash and consciousness. The contact had been scheduled for a neurologist. The dealer was notified of the failure; however, were not of assistance. The dealer informed the contact to notify GMC of the failure. The manufacturer has not been notified. THERE IS WATER LEAKING (POSSIBLY FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER) ONTO THE FLOORBOARD OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THIS HAS CAUSED MOLD TO FORM AND GROW IN THE CARPETING. IT IS CONSTANT AND IS GETTING WORSE.

THE REAR HATCH WILL FULLY OPEN AND THEN FALLS PART WAY OR FULLY WITHOUT ANY CAUSE. IT HIT ME IN THE HEAD AND BACK AS I WAS NOT EXPECTING THE HATCH DOOR TO FALL. THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A GARAGE.

My Terrain just started stalling. And it happens a few times a day. This is not safe. I had my daughters with me in their car seats, as I pulled out from a stop sign it just died. I couldnt steer or anything. People coming down the road and I am stuck In the middle of a street until I could put it in park and restart. And then it happens again when in reverse. I thought I accidentally had it in neutral. I restarted it and thought it was fine. It gave a little chugging when I hit the gas pedal but all was fine until I stopped to pull into a parking spot and tried to reverse again to straighten my car. I turned it back on, then it was good enough to get out. when I went back to my car it stalled like 4 times when trying to simply leave the parking lot.

MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND STALLED AS I DECELERATED AND APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN WHICH COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. I DO NOT SEE ANY RECALLS BUT THERE ARE NUMEROUS ISSUES STATING THIS SAME ISSUE ON A SIMPLE SEARCH OF NONE ISSUES FOR THIS SUV.

MY VEHICLE IS UNDER 60K MILES AND ONE DAY I WOKE UP WENT TO DRIVE IT MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE STARTED TO SPUTTER AND TRY TO DIE OUT WHILE DRIVING IN A SCHOOL ZONE GOING 20 MPH. I HAVE HAD MY TERRAIN FOR A LITTLE OVER TWO YEARS NOW IT ONLY HAS 71,000 MILES BEING A 2015 AND IT HAS STARTED TO STALL OUT ON ME. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I JUST GOT GAS AND THOUGHT MAYBE I DIDNT HAVE MY CAR IN PARK. My GMC terrian has 98567 miles and had check engine light problem. Dealer said that I needed new timing chain. Cost $2282.05. Have not found a recall on the timing chain problem, but have seen many complains about the same issue. With some being replaced multiple times. Why has GMC not done anything to cure this problem. Van does not burn oil. Have it serviced at the GMC dealer since I purchased it with only 16000 miles.

The engine is burning oil at a rate of about a quart every 2k miles. The check engine light came on recently and very shortly after a reduced power warning came on and made the vehicle difficult to drive. Which was not safe on a major road. It had to be towed to my mechanic and he mentioned to me that the engines in this vehicle are known to be problems. The pistons have an issue that burns oil in excess he said. I looked this up and found a class action settlement was just awarded to people in 3 states. However not mine.

THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER AN 3 DAYS AFTER OIL CHANGE AND BEGIN TO CUT OFF WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO CARMAX AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR WHICH WAS COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. CARMAX SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO A GMC DEALER FOR REPAIR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE GMC DEALER, THEY REPAIRED IT AND 1 1/2 WEEKS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS CUTTING OFF AGAIN. I WENT TO THE GMC DEALER A SECOND TIME AND THEY SAID, "THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE MY CONCERNS, THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR, THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON AND THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR 10 MINUTES WITHOUT ANY ISSUES". My vehicle began jerking, shaking and kept shutting off in a highway intersection. I looked on the ground after coasting into a gas station to find oil leaking from under my vehicle. I've never had an oil leak and it caused my starter to go and I've had to replace the camshaft sensors all within the same week. It appears the rear seal went after the cold streak we had. I need my vehicle to take my mother to treatments, etc. Is there any recalls on this?

In October 2021 I took my car to have brake pads replaced, oil and filter change, and tire rotation. The day before the appointment the engine light came on. I parked the vehicle and waited for my appointment. The mechanic there told me there was not a drop of oil registering on the dipstick.... very odd considering I had the oil changed regularly. The appointment was completed and the engine light reset. The next day the engine light came back on and the code it was giving was for a Timing Control Solenoid, so I purchased the parts and took it back to the same mechanic. Engine light off- vehicle running normally- a few months pass-another routine oil/filter change in between and the engine light comes back on. This time I take it to a dealership and again there is not a drop of oil registering on the dipstick. Now it is sitting in the dealership garage waiting on parts to arrive to replace the entire timing chain assembly. I have read many complaints in the last several months about the same issue. This should have been a recall by now. If the timing chain were to snap it could cause heavy engine damage as well as an accident if on the road at the time. GMC needs to be made aware of this situation and the heavy consumption of oil. My mileage at this time is only at 82K - this should not be happening this early on.

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that her vehicle was consuming oil excessively which led to three separate engine failures. The contact also stated that the check oil light would illuminate on the instrument panel prior to the failure. An independent mechanic had replaced the engine all three times due to the oil consumption. Prior to the latest failure, the contact mentioned that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assists failed as the power steering failure warning message was displayed on the instrument panel. The independent mechanic informed her that the power steering had received too much electricity which would cause both the power steering and the wheels to lock up. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

While driving, my vehicle makes a loud funny sound, jerks/skips, and shuts off. It also loses motor oil quickly, yet it has no leaks and I have to constantly add more motor oil or get oil changes frequently. My safety has been put at risk because the engine can fail at any moment due to no motor oil, causing the vehicle to catch fire and also when the vehicle suddenly stops and shuts off in the middle of the road, it can cause an accident. There has been no inspection from the manufacturer.

THE MANIFOLD AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS CRACKED AND EMITTING HAZARDOUS CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE CAR. FOR CLOSE TO 2 MONTHS MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN DRIVING THE CAR LIKE THIS AND WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 MECHANICS AND FINALLY FOUND THE CRACKS. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN GETTING SICK FROM THE CARBON MONOXIDE. IT IS A BLESSING HE IS STILL ALIVE. ACCORDING TO ONLINE GOOGLE SEARCHES THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE. AT NIGHT (IN DARKNESS) VISIBILITY IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE THRU THE BOTTOM SECTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS A DARK HORIZONTAL LINE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AT APPROXIMATELY THE HALF WAY POINT. IT IS BLACK ABOVE THE LINE-NO VISIBILITY TO THE OUTSIDE ABOVE THE LINE. YOU CAN NOT SEE A SAFE DISTANCE DOWN THE ROAD AS VISIBILITY IS RESTRICTED. TELEPHONE POLES, TREES, OBJECTS, SIDE ROADS, DEER, OBSTACLES, SIGNS ETC ARE NOT VISIBLE THRU THE WINDSHIELD'S TOP HALF. WE DROVE IT THE FIRST TIME AT NIGHT OCT. 8. UNKNOWN The car shakes when I tried to reverse and when I try to move forward it doesn’t accelerate. The tire pressure lights went on but the tire pressure is fine. I had it towed to a shop and they said they’re getting transmission codes. Unfortunately that shop doesn’t specialize in transmission so I’m waiting for a transmission specialist to look at it. Also the driver side electric seat doesn’t move backwards anymore it’s stuck in one spot.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump was leaking fuel into the oil gasket. The mechanic replaced the mass air flow sensor, the oil gasket, the fuel pump, the catalytic converter, and the starter; however, the failure recurred while driving. The blind spot detection sensors have failed and the rest of the detection systems using the bad sensors are also non functional. An alert is shown in the info center every time the car starts. I have read that the issue is due to poor positioning of the sensors allowing for tire spray to directly hit the non water resistant sensors and their connectors. The replacement parts and labor are ridiculously expensive and the ability for an owner to complete this task is nearly impossible. A simple splash guard behind the tire or even waterproofing the sensor and it’s entirety to avoid water penetrating and causing the very expensive sensor and all detection systems connected to it to fail.

The blower fan for heat In my vehicle was replaced in October 2022, recently the Defroster will not engage and it is vital to winter driving. The mechanism that switches between which vent to blow out air was replaced and the Defroster will still not engage, rather it comes out of the heat and face vents. Shortly after the Defroster stopped engaging, the rpms will start fluctuating from 2 suddenly up to 6-8 without warning or acceleration then go back down and back up as if it's chugging along. Even when applying the brakes, this will continue to happen and there's concern for Rear-ending or crashing when this happens. When driving home 2 nights ago the county police pulled my vehicle over due to burnt out headlight, which was replaced less than 6 months ago. Took the car in to get bulb replaced today and multiple bulbs later, the light is not fixed and it was said to be electrical and need to go to another shop. Beginning to wonder if this is all a bigger problem about to happen with engine/ powertrain.. with commute to work in the dark and electrical problem in the headlight randomly and the acceleration issues there is definitely a concern for safety.

Engine lost power suddenly while driving. No warning. Fuel pressure slowed to where vehicle no longer moved forward. Again. No warning. Timing chain slipped TWICE and destroyed engine without warning. “Engine power lost” appeared on dash from driving without warning or incident. Excessive oil consumption without warning. Smoking engine even though had regular oil changes. Engine had been inspected by dealership and allegedly had no issues. Car never smoked but did after second time of timing chain slipping/breaking. This issue has happened repeatedly to many drivers who own these vehicles. Had a difficult time stopping after engine and total power failure without warning.

Engine failure - car engine turned off when I stopped at a stop sign. Car warning lights flashed. Had to shut ignition off and turn on again. Car started again, but with check engine light staying on. From that point on, every time I would slow down for traffic lights, stop signs, turns or for any other reason when slowing down, the car would shut off. This was extremely dangerous in traffic as it would stall out randomly when slowing down. The car did not give any indication of any pending problems. Windshield wipers - stopped dead during a heavy rainstorm while traveling on a highway. Wipers were completely non-functional in any mode. Had to try to pull off the highway and park as driving visibility was non-existent. Safety to myself and others was completely compromised as I could not see to drive. No warning signs or messages to advise of this problem coming.

The front brakes and rotors have been changed twice in 2 months time, over $400. Something is causing the rotors to warp. The heat went out in the middle of winter because the blend door broke, $800. Also, about 6 months ago I had to have the timing chain and a gasket replaced because of the ongoing oil consumption issue, $1300. It's an expensive problem for the owners of these vehicles and no reasonable solution.

As I was navigating my way home on Nov. 3, 2021 the windshield wipers stop working and it was dark and pouring down raining. There was no warning. Then the radio started acting weird the bluetooth went away and I could not get it back on the screen to connect. I tried turning on and off the radio but it would not turn off. The biggest danger to my life was that I could not see so I had to keep pulling on side streets to wipe the windshield so I could make it home in the dark and pouring rain. When the bluetooth stopped connecting I had to pull over again and pipe the directions through my phone to continue to navigate home. The windshield wiper can be confirmed by the dealer because it still did not turn on today. The radio turned on and off today and the bluetooth icon was back.

DURING THE REST OF THE DRIVE THE RADIO WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. AT THE SERVICE CENTER A CODE SCANNER SHOWED NO CODES. THE VEHICLE BATTERY (NEW) WAS CHECKED AND CABLES WERE CHECKED FOR LOOSE CONNECTIONS AND CORROSION. THE ISSUE CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE SERVICE. AFTER SERVICE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS. ISSUE # 1-THE WIPER BLADES STOPPED WORKING DURING A RAIN STORM AND WERE STUCK MIDWAY ON THE WINDSHIELD RIGHT IN MY SITE LINE WHILE ON O LONG 9 HOUR TRIP. I CHECKED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AREA AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE AREA. THE TURNED ON THE WIPER CONTROL INSIDE THE CAR AND COULD HEAR THE MOTOR BUT NO VIPER MOVEMENT OCCURRED. THE CONTROL UNIT FOR THE WIPERS SEEMED TO BE INACCESSIBLE AS THERE IS A LARGE SEALED HOUSING OVER THE AREA COVERING THE WIPER MOTOR SO I WAS UNABLE TO ACCESS OR TRY TO REPAIR MYSELF. I WAITED OUT THE STORM AND RESEARCHED TO FIND THAT THE 2013 MODEL TERRAIN HAD A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE IN THE UNITED STATES AND THAT MY MODEL YEAR CAR OF 2015 HAS HAD THE SAME RECALL IN CANADA ONLY EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED REPORTED CASES IN THE US PER CONSUMER REPORTS. MY HOPE IS A RECALL FOR FULL REPAIR OF THE ISSUE WILL OCCUR IMMEDIATELY IN THE US AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH SHOULD THIS DEFECT NOT BE RECALLED FOR REPAIR. ISSUE #2- THE FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2015 TERRAIN WILL LIE HAVE TO REPLACED FOR THE 3RD TIME IN A 4 MONTH PERIOD. THE BREAKS SHAKE AND SHIMMY THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THEY ARE APPLIED CAUSING INEFFECTIVE BREAKING. BOTH THE BREAK PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED TWICE AND THE LEFT FROM WHEEL BEARING HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED WITH THE 2ND WHEEL BEARING NEEDING REPLACEMENT IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. THESES REPAIRS ALONE HAVE COST ME $1300. THE AUTO SHOP DID COVER THE 2ND BRAKE AND ROTOR REPAIR AND WILL FIND OUT SHORTLY IF THEY WILL COVER THE 3RD REPAIR. AFTER HAVING TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS THREE HOURS AWAY FROM MY HOUSE THEY INFORMED ME THE FOLLOWING MORNING THE POWER STEERING CONTROL GEARBOX HAD WENT OUT AND FRIED ALL THE ELECTRICAL'S INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 39,000 MILES AFTER CONTACTING GMC THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ON A RECALL LIST FOR MY VEHICLES VIN NUMBER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I SAW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A VERY SIMILAR SITUATION IN 2018 IN SEPTEMBER. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THE VEHICLE COMPUTER SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING IF REQUESTED. STARTED MARCH OF 2017 PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. SUV JERKS, GAUGES GO CRAZY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, IF SLOW TO BELOW 20 MPH IT SPUTTERS AND WON'T ACCELERATE, IF I STOP COMPLETELY IT WON'T ACCELERATE. MULTIPLE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC & AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS. IF I TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE SYSTEM RESETS. THEN IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP. PROBABLY 10-15 TIMES IN 2YEARS. THEY GET CODES, BUT THEN THESE GO AWAY BEFORE THEY CAN BE 'RUN'. I BROKE DOWN 1-1/2 WEEKS AGO IN BAY MINETTE & THE CAR WOULDNT START BACK UP. I WAS STRANDED OUT OF TOWN AND HAD TO RENT A CAR TO GET BACK HOME. THE DEALER THERE GOT 7 ERROR CODES THAT ALL CLEARED OUT. I HAVE FILED A COMPJAINT WITH GMC, BUT THEY ARE SLOW TO HANDLE THE PROBLEM & I CAN'T GET SUPERVISORS ON THE PHONE OR AT LEAST ONE WHO DOESN'T SEEM LIKE HE'S BEEN DRINKING.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FROM A DEALER IN JUNE 2018, AND ABOUT A MONTH OF PURCHASING IT MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN HESITATING IN ACCELERATION, AT FIRST I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT, BUT IT STARTED GETTING WORSE. TWO DAYS AGO WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA (CITY STREETS), IT WAS BUCKING A LOT. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE BACK BUT THE CAR SHUDDERED AND THEN SHUT OFF COMPLETELY AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP LIGHT CAME ON (BUT IT DIDN'T STAY ON LONG). THE YUKON HAS BEEN DRIVEN 3 YEARS AND 50K MI AND NOW NEEDS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS USED.

PUT IT IN DRIVE AND JUST AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE IT STALLED. THIS HAPPENED 10-12 TIMES WHILE I WAS TRYING TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE LEAVING CAR WASH AS I WAS EXCELLERATIG OUR. VEHICLE STALLED AS I WAS LEAVING A COMPLETE STOP FROM A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE STARTING TO ACCELERATE. 43,000 MILES FROM FIRST OCCURRENCE CURRENTLY AT 43,300 STILL HAPPENING ON A REGULAR BASIS.

ON 1/10/18, I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND RECEIVED MESSAGE "ENGINE POWER REDUCED", THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND POWER WAS REDUCED TO 25 MPH. I BROUGHT THE TERRAIN INTO A MECHANIC AND HE SYNCHRONIZED THE GAS PEDAL SENSOR AND FUEL SENSOR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT. ON 1/13/18, THE SAME THING HAPPENED EXCEPT I WAS ON A HIGHWAY AND IT WAS MUCH MORE FRIGHTENING. I BROUGHT THE TERRAIN BACK TO MY MECHANIC AND LEFT THE VEHICLE. I AM NOW WITHOUT A CAR FOR THE WEEKEND.

LETTER FROM SENATOR FEINSTEIN INQUIRY ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT IN REGARDS TO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH GMC SIERRA DENALI PICKUP 2015. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE SUSPENSION, TRANSMISSION, AND ELECTRONICS. THE VEHICLE WOULD RIDE ROUGH AND THE STABILITY LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING AFTER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED SPORADICALLY SINCE LAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED IN FOR SERVICE ON THE ISSUE, HOWEVER I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I'VE ATTACHED MY FINAL REPAIR NOTICE TO GM AND IT HAS ALL OF THE DETAILS. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE FINAL REPAIR DONE. THEY STILL SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR. I ASKED GM TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL TO HELP ME. THE TRANSMISSION IS JERKY AND THE BRAKES BARELY WORK. MY ATTENTION WAS EVERYWHERE BUT ON 65 MPH TRAFFIC ON FREEWAY. BREAKS ONE'S DRIVING CONCENTRATION. INDEPENDENT OF TEMPERATURE. OTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS LOTS OF WIND COMES IN ON PASSENGER DOOR. IT IS NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY. GM HAS TRIED A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. VERY ANNOYING AND HARD TO HEAR RADIO ETC.. 3RD PROBLEM IS NAVIGATION,COMMUNICATION CENTER,IT KEEPS DISAPPEARING. IT IS GIVING ME DIRECTIONS SOMEWHERE AND THEN JUST DISAPPEARS AND RESETS. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE. IT HAS GOTTEN ME STRANDED MORE THAN ONCE. I AM A SENIOR WHO RELIES ON SYSTEM. WHEN IT DISAPPEARS, I AM NOT ALWAYS SOMEWHERE THAT I CAN STOP TO COMPLETELY RESET AND REENTER ALL THE INFORMATION AGAIN. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT CHIME COMES ON EVEN WHEN THERE IS NOTHING OR ALMOST NOTHING IN THE SEAT. THIS MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 45 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND EITHER DURING A BRAKING EVENT OR ACCELERATION EVENT (EITHER FROM A STOP OR DURING AN OVERTAKE MENUVER). IT ALSO OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED GOES ABOVE 60MPH. IN ALL THESE SITUATIONS THE CHIME COMES ON AT MOST IN-OPPORTUNE TIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION STARTLING THE DRIVER CAUSING HIM/HER TO TAKE THE EYES OFF THE ROAD TO LOOK AROUND WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE HAS RESULTED IN MULTIPLE NEAR MISS OCCURRANCES WHILE I HAVE MY 15 MONTH OLD BABY IN THE VEHICLE! THE ISSUE STARTED OCCURRING IN AUGUST 2015 (ABOUT 4.5 MONTHS AFTER I GOT THE VEHICLE). THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE POSTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH CHEVY EQUINOX AND GMC TERRAIN.

IN THE EARLY MORNING OF 9-5-15 MY DAUGHTER BEGAN DRIVING HOME FROM PITTSBURGH TO DE. SHE SWERVED TO AVOID AN ANIMAL ON THE PA TURNPIKE, HIT THE JERSEY WALL ON THE RIGHT, ROLLED OVER COMPLETELY TWICE TO THE LEFT, LANDING UPRIGHT IN THE MEDIAN. LUCKILY THE SEAT BELT SAVED HER AND SHE HAD ONLY MINOR INJURIES. HOWEVER THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IN FACT ONSTAR CALLED 911 BECAUSE THEIR MONITORING EQUIPMENT SHOWED THAT THE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED, BUT THEY DID NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR AIRBAG PROBLEM THOUGH I'VE HEARD THAT THERE SHOULD BE SO I WANTED TO REPORT THIS.

WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT THE BOTTOM OF A FREEWAY OFFRAMP THE KEYS ON THE KEYRING ATTACHED TO THE KEY IN THE IGNITION GOT STUCK IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS BRIEFLY PREVENTED ME FROM EXITING THE TURN, AND THEN WHEN THE KEYS BROKE FREE THE CAR HAD TURNED ITSELF OFF!! I HAD NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER BREAKS AND NO HEADLIGHTS. I WAS ON A SLIGHT DOWNGRADE AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE NEXT BLOCK WHERE I TURNED RIGHT OUT OF TRAFFIC BEFORE COMING TO A FULL STOP. I WAS THEN ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER PUTTING INTO NEUTRAL (OR PARK, DON'T REMEMBER). THE KEYCHAIN THAT GOT STUCK WAS FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL AND HAD 2 KEY-FOBS ON IT PLUS A PLASTIC ID TAG ON A SMALL WIRE RING. THIS, COMBINED WITH THE POOR PLACEMENT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH, HAS RESULTED IN MY HITTING THE KEYS WITH MY HANDS WHILE STEERING SEVERAL TIMES SINCE RENTING THE CAR 5 DAYS AGO. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS LOCATED VERY CLOSE TO THE WHEEL AND THE IGNITION KEY WHICH STICKS OUT OF THE LARGE KEY-FOB IS VERY CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN WITHOUT OTHER KEYS ON THE RING.
