I purchased a new 2024 GMC Terrain in March 2024. At the time of the incident the mileage was approximately 18,000 miles. On [XXX], as I was driving on a MA state highway, the car lost power with no warning. I was able to "coast" into a parking lot where I contacted OnStar; a flatbed tow truck was dispatched and the car was towed to the local dealership where it was purchased. At this time, the car is still at the dealer as I was informed by dealer service consultant that it's a "massive" transmission job and parts were on back order from GMC for over three weeks. I specifically purchased this vehicle to be safe on my monthly trips to NY to visit grandchild. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle and have no guarantee this won't happen again. The contact owns a 2024 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and preparing to complete a left turn, there was an abnormal pop coming from underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the driveshaft had fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that several days later the contact heard a loud pop, prompting the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the sound. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,200.

We purchased our 2024 GMC Terrain on April 13, 2024 and on June 12, 2024 my husband and I were headed out to go to dinner and when leaving our neighborhood I noticed a weird transmission shift or slip and then the vehicle rpms increased suddenly. I pulled off the road and put the vehicle in park then I attempted to put the vehicle in reverse. The reverse lit up and just began to blink in the dash but the transmission did not go into reverse. I was able to put the vehicle in park and then drive to return home (we were less than 1/4 mile from home thankfully). Luckily we live in rural area and there were not many people on the road. Had we been on a busy road this could have been a dangerous situation. The next day the car was towed to the nearest GMC dealership. The original diagnosis was that the TCM was bad and needed to be replace and that there would be an estimated wait time of about 7 weeks. The TCM was replaced but did not resolve the issue. At that point (July 30, 2024) GM released a bulletin regarding a bad snap ring condition. The service dealer torn down the transmission and determined the snap ring was bad and they also noticed that the clutch was severely burned and needed to be replaced along with both valve bodies. By the time the parts came in and these repairs were completed, we were without the vehicle for 12 weeks. The vehicle was returned to us on 8/21/24. Unfortunately on 8/26/24 - 5 days and approximately 196 miles later, the vehicle began to behave the same way and had to be returned to the dealer. At this point we requested that GM buy the vehicle back from us which they very promptly declined. The transmission was completely tore down again and it was determined a seal or ring needed to be replaced. That repair has not worked either. Now more than 2 more weeks have passed and we are now waiting on a complete new transmission. We have again requested GM but the vehicle back from us. We are waiting on their response.

Purchased new from dealership 2024 GMC Terrain 4/2024. On 6/26/24 while driving the vehicle the transmission came apart and the vehicle suddenly stopped and would barely move off of the roadway. Had this happened 2 min prior while at highway speeds in crowded conditions, I can only imagine how many injuries could have occurred. My vehicle had 3800 miles on it. Upon my personal research, I found that this is a known problem with the 2024 GMC Terrains and dealerships across the country are filled with vehicles with the same problem. The dealership admitted to me that this has become "a known issue" and that they currently had 7 others with the same issue. They had my car for 8 weeks and according to my paperwork had to repair it twice as it failed the first repair road test! I filed a compaint with GM and was told "to not believe third party sites". I repeatedly asked why this wasn't a recall and they refused to answer the question. Does someone have to have their brand new transmission blow apart at 80 mph and take out others on the highway before they recall this? GM has issued multiple service bulletins to their dealerships but nothing to the public. I tried talking to the dealership and was belittled and stonewalled. Please recall these vehicles before someone is killed. I was finally given my vehicle back from the dealership today after 8 weeks because of no parts available. I am worried they repaired with the same parts that failed in the first place.I have the repair paperwork for your inspection if you would like to review it.

I was leaving work when my car had trouble accelerating from stop. The engine revved, but the gear would not engage. It happened several more times after I stopped at a light or slowed to get on the highway. It would take a minute or so to engage, and then I could drive the car, but it made it dangerous when trying to merge on to the highway or to make any turns in to traffic. It then happened two more times as I slowed to make turns until my engine light came on as I was turning on to my street. When I finally made it to my house and put it in reverse to back into my driveway, the car wouldn't move at all. I took it to the GMC dealership because it is still under warranty. The next day when I called, they told me a piston shot through the transmission housing which caused a leak of transmission fluid. There is a GM Customer Satisfaction Program release for 2024 GMC Terrains and Arcadias that all have a defect in the transmission housing, which is causing a leak of transmission fluid. I had noticed that, whenever I slowed to make a turn anywhere prior to the engine light coming on, there was some hesitation when trying to accelerate, but I thought it was the design of the transmission and engine.

The rear camera is displaying the top of the license plate! It wasn’t doing it when I first purchased the car. Dealer states it is normal. I do not agree.

infotainment system safety issues. I have video. Multiple times per week when starting the car and backing the rear camera engages. When placing car in drive the rear camera never shuts off, the sound volume doesn't work, the entire infotainment system completely malfunctions. The safety is when attempting to function the controls the volume will turn up and not able to turn it down, the screen flashes and the infotainment systems controls on the steering wheel do NOT function. I've had it to the dealer and they indicate PIC6591A from March 3rd 2025 is logged. When contacting GMC corporate they refuse to give any information. The PIC spans across many GMC vehicles including 2019 models. Why hasn't this been addressed? My son drives a 2024 Chevy Trax and this car has no issues like the my car does. His car also doesn't have the transmission/gear shift buttons like the 2024 terrain does. Anyone else having issues with the GMC infotainment systems, black screen, malfunction? I have video.

When shopping for a new Vehicle I noticed this but purchased the vehicle anyway. I attempted to look under the hood of my new GMC Terrain. I have a (hopefully temporary) handicap from a medical procedure I have been dealing with for over a year. I found that the hood assist springs or air shocks have been eliminated from the 2024 model. I can lift the hood on my 2010 GMC Sierra, but I had to have my wife help me lift the hood on my 2024 Terrain. My guesstimate is the hood weighs 50 plus pounds! Once the hood is lifted you have to install a rod (stick, like the old Model A and T cars) so the hood stays up. Yes, I am aware that Ford and Jeep have done this too, but that still doesn't make it right in my view. In this day and age of vehicle safety, and adding safety features to vehicles that I would never even have thought of, I can't believe this is OK! I can only imagine a mechanic bumping the hood rod, or a small child reaching up to boost themselves up to see what Dad or Mom is looking at or doing under the hood of the vehicle. This would cause a 50 plus pound hood to come crashing down on a person and that is OK? How about a short or elderly person? How much did the car manufacturers save by eliminating this feature at the consumers safety and cost? Maybe the manufacturers don't want us under the hood anymore, but then they will have to find a better way to add windshield washer fluid or check the oil or brake fluid.

car quit while driving could not control stopped across 2 lanes of highway almost was hit by big truck. Car would not start or go into neutral. When car almost started i put it into neutral and was pushed off of highway. dealer towed car and replaced fuel module at 25423 miles.

Unintended acceleration in forward and reverse: the vehicle experiences unintended acceleration both in forward and reverse. While driving in heavy traffic, the vehicle continues to maintain throttle position for approximately two seconds after releasing the throttle, creating a dangerous situation where the vehicle continues to accelerate towards other cars. This defect requires emergency braking to prevent a collision. In reverse , the vehicle also holds throttle position after the accelerator is released. This results in the vehicle unintentionally accelerating in reverse at a rapid pace. This requires the driver to depress the brake moderately to control the reverse speed. During this event the driver is fighting against the motor with the brake pedal until the vehicle decided to stop accelerating on its own.

Was driving along and transmission downshifted (?) wouldn't change gears. Tachometer was like a race car. Just went wild. Limped it along to a dealership. They informed us it was probably the transmission. It was determined it was indeed the transmission. They also stated that they had 7 more waiting in the service area waiting for parts to repair. Ours was to be #8. We called the dealer we bought it from, they sent a tow truck and towed it to their service area. Luckily, I wasn't out on the interstate going 70 mph as I would have been in just a few more minutes. Very scary situation as I was in 3 lanes of traffic. It was in town, so traffic wasn't moving fast. I was 2 hours into my vacation. Needless to say, that put a damper on things. Had to rent a vehicle, unpack my vehicle and repack the rental. Oh, and by the was it is a 2024 Terrain with ONLY 2400 miles!

The check engine and transmission warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact's wife attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the gear shifter failed to move from neutral(N) and remained in Low Power Mode. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and DTC: P0700 and P073E were retrieved. In addition, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: PIP5974E; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,766.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

My wife and I took our new vehicle on a 7k mile road trip this summer. Two times while on the freeway around 70 MPH, the sensors went wild. The cars auto break came on and red lights and collision warnings went off in the seat and the HUD. The vehicle slowed down to about 35 immediately! Then everything turned off and we sped back went down the road like nothing happened. Luckily there was no behind us or in front of us for a good distance. The thing is during both of the there was a car in the lane next to us at our 1 or 2 o'clock position. Perhaps the sensors. Mistakingly thought we were about to hit that car. Can these seniors be adjusted?

a little over two weeks ago we were going to sidney to get groceries. it was hot that day so we turned the a/c on. fog started coming out of the vents, it looked like we turned on a fog machine! a few days later we were going to town, my daughter got in and the whole driver's side floor was full of water. there was so much of it we had to get the shop vac out to suck it up. I called the dealer where we purchased it from because it still under warranty. their shop guy was out for the week so they scheduled me an appt for the following week. by this time my speakers aren't working, my signal lights dont make any sounds when I use them and the floor is soaked again. on August 5th we took the car into high plains and left it. they said they worked on it for 4 hours and fixed the problem, some drain line was plugged with sludge and so the water knocked out a module or amp. I thot everything would be covered but then they said I'd have to pay because all of a sudden a mouse had causes that line to get plugged. I asked them for pictures because im turning it into my insurance company, and they said they would send them. they never have I requested the pictures 2x, once with Patrick the shop manager and then with Jeff presser, owner. Still today, nothing. Meanwhile yesterday here comes all the water on the floor again. We use this vehicle to haul my grandson to his therapies and medical appointments. he [XXX]. Now were worried that mold has started growing because even though were sucking up the water, the floor pad and carpet are still wet. I went online and have seen numerous people complaining about the same issue for years with these GMC Terrains, why hasnt there been a recall or national warning on this faulty problem? Driving on slightly uphill 55 mph highway, vehicle started jumping & losing engine power. Engine light came on, I made it to the top as it was slowing down. Pulled off to the side. Put it in park for a minute. Message showing on dash read - acceleration power reduced. Drove it on home (engine light stayed on) parked it & had it towed to dealership the next morning. Got a call from dealership the same afternoon saying the vehicle was ready to be picked up. Picked up later in evening from dealership. They left keys & paper in car for pick up. We still tend the paper left it in the box showing we picked it up. The vehicle drove good back home. Drove it the next day, As I was pulling out from a stop sign, it started jumping again for a few seconds. Got home & had my husband to drive it, as we were coming up a small hill, it started jumping & losing power again engine light was blinking at this point. Dash board read engine power reduced. My husband kept on the accelerater & when we got on top of the hill engine light went off & we drove it back to the dealership & left it to be checked again. They kept the vehicle for 7 days & said they were not able to find concern. We picked it up again. Drove it back home without any incident. It has been parked since we got it home.

Vehicle was running but transmission was in PARK. Suddenly on screen in front of driver this message appeared: BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE 43MPH TOP SPEED WARNING SERVICE ESC. Vehicle was not moving. Engine was running but vehicle was in PARK. I had to drive it home. Very difficult to stop. Brake pedal vibrated violently. Very long stopping distance even at 20MPH. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership from which I had purchased it. I bought this vehicle on 25 Nov 2024. Right now its mileage is 3757. Obviously my safety and that of others was put at risk. The service department at the dealership has not communicated with me at this time. There was NO prior warning nor were there any prior symptoms of this problem. It occurred VERY suddenly.

When accelerating, the engine revved up, switched itself from drive to park, resulting in complete loss of control and the vehicle coming to a sudden stop. The car behind narrowly avoided a rear-end collision by swerving around me. The malfunction indicator light came on for the first time, and the vehicle would not switch out of park. After turning the ignition off and on again, the vehicle would switch out of park. The GMC service inspector ran diagnostics and found fault codes related to the transmission valve components that must be replaced.

While driving, the dash warning "service power steering" light up and my steering wheel locked making me unable to steer or manuever the car to safety. I was stuck in the middle of the road. I turned it off and on and was able to make it to a parking lot where the same safety messages illuminated four more times. I tried reversing and the same steering lock occurred again making me unable to drive the vehicle.

Bought new car August 16th 2024. Few days later, I was turning left at a light and the car lost power as I was turning and error messages came up on the dash screen saying service transmission. I also observed that the cars gear indicator went to Park by itself even though the car was still moving. Pushed the engine start button and car came back on and I switched the gear to Drive. Took car in on the 19th to get looked at. Week later, driving down the city street going 40-45 MPH, car lost power again and car gear indicator switched to Park again, service transmission indicator came up and low fuel indicator came up even though I had over 1/2 a tank left. Took in to dealership on August 26th, 2024. Over this weekend, my wife was driving home from up north at a very busy freeway intersection and the car lost power again and luckily she was able to get over to the shoulder. It took some time but she was able to get the car restarted and made it home. There is something seriously wrong with this particular vehicle where we do not want to even drive it. This car has less than 500 miles on it and has lost power three times in three weeks.
