IN ADDITION, THE CABLE UNDER THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAUGHT FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

MY 2005 GMC YUKON DENALI REAR TAILGATE / HATCH IS LOCKED AND THE ELECTRONIC LOCK MOTIVATOR WILL NOT OPEN THE REAR TAILGATE / HATCH. THERE IS NO KEY NOR MANUAL WAY TO OPEN REAR TAILGATE / HATCH. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT IT WOULD COST TO FIX ALTHOUGH IT WOULD BE NO MORE THAN $450.00. SINCE THIS VEHICLE HAS THREE ROWS OF SEATS THERE IS NO MANUAL WAY TO OPEN THIS REAR TAILGATE / HATCH FOR THE PASSENGERS IN THE THIRD ROW OF SEATS TO GET OUT IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED AN ALTERNATE WAY TO OPEN THIS HATCH FOR EMERGENCY'S. WHETHER IT WOULD BE A KEY FROM THE OUTSIDE OR A DOOR HANDLE ON THE INSIDE. WE FEEL THAT TYPE OF VEHICLE SHOULD BE REVIEWED AND IT SHOULD INCLUDE VARIOUS YEARS OF THIS GMC VEHICLE, THE CHEVROLET TAHOE, AND THE CHEVROLET SUBURBAN WHICH HAVE THE SAME SETUP FOR THIS SAFETY REASON. IT APPEARS IN MY INVESTIGATING THIS THROUGH ONLINE SEARCHES AND FORUMS, THERE ARE 1000'S OF GM VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD THEIR SPEEDOMETERS QUIT WORKING AND IS QUITE A MONEY MAKER FOR GM AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS, SINCE THEY 'HAVE' TO DO IT SO IT CAN BE REPROGRAMMED FOR MILEAGE AUTHENTICITY! WITH THESE 1000'S OF GM VEHICLES HAVING FAULTY SPEEDOMETERS, OR OTHER FAULTY GAUGES...MINE IS STUCK ON 120MPH!! DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN U REALLY DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING!! I HAVE A BRAKE PROBLEM, THE DYNAMIC ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM TURNS ON AT TIMES DURING RUNNING AND THE RIM HEATS UP AND A STRONG SMELL OF BRAKES COMES OUT, ON TWO OCCASIONS THE REAR TIRES EXPLODED AND I CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW IN 2005, THE DEALER CHANGED THE BRAKES, ABS AND OTHER COMPONENTS, BUT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM, THEN IN 2010 AGAIN, I CHANGED ALL THE COMPONENTS RELATED TO THE BRAKES BUT IT REMAINS THE SAME. SOMETIMES THE DYNAMIC BRAKE IS ACTIVATED AND THE RINGS AND REAR RUBBERS ARE HEATED. I DO NOT USE THE VEHICLE FOR LONG ROADS FOR SAFETY. I BOUGHT IT IN 2005 AND IT NOW HAS 73,100 MILES. STARTED CAR IN THE MORNING TO GO TO WORK. AS I DO EVERY DAY. FOOT ON BRAKE AS USUAL, SHIFT TO DRIVE, TO BEGIN A TURN IN MY DRIVEWAY, IN MAKING THE LEFT TURN, WHICH IS A DOWNWARD GRADE, APPLIED BRAKE, WHICH WENT TO FLOOR. NO RESISTANCE WHATSOEVER, COMPLETE FAILURE OF BRAKES. KEPT FOOT ON BRAKE AND STEERED UP THE GRADE, THEN PUT CAR INTO PARK. GOT OUT, OPENED HOOD. CHECKED MASTER CYLINDER- NO FLUID VISIBLE AT USUAL LINE. CHECKED UNDER VEHICLE, BRAKE FLUID TRAILING ON DRIVEWAY UNDER PATH OF VEHICLE, AND SLOW DRIP FROM UNDER FORWARD FRONT DRIVER SIDE . BRAKE LINES AND CONNECTOR COMPLETELY CORRODED AND RUSTED. HAD I BEEN ON THE ROAD I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO STOP, VEHICLE IS DRIVEN BY MY SON AS WELL. OUR LIVES AND THOSE OF OTHERS IN THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS OTHERS THAT MEAD BEEN IN OUR PATH WERE CLEARLY IN DANGER. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT OCCUR, AND IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

LOST BRAKES COMPLETELY. THE WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN THE CLUSTER OF BRAKE LINES IN FRONT OF ABS MODULE DUE TO RUST WHICH LEFT A PUDDLE CONTAINING ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE WAS IN A CHURCH PARKING LOT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND A SUDDEN STOP WAS NOT NEEDED FROM A HIGHER SPEED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN BAD IF THAT WERE THE CASE. TOO BAD GM DID TO SPEND A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS ON RUST-PROOF BRAKE LINES GIVEN HOW EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS THEY ARE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE AND AWAITING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

SINCE 2010, MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON 5 TIMES. 3 OUT OF THE 5 TIMES, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A SENSOR WHICH TYPICALLY COSTS APPROX $400-450. THE OTHER TWO TIMES, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO RESET. I AM NOW IN THE POSITION OF HAVING TO SPEND ANOTHER $450 FOR ANOTHER NEW SENSOR IN ORDER TO TURN OFF THE AIRBAG LIGHT OR ELSE I CANNOT PASS INSPECTION. I HAVE ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE FROM GM AND THE DEALERSHIP. BUT, BECAUSE THE LIGHT COMES ON JUST AFTER ONE YEAR OF REPLACING A SENSOR, THE WORK IS NO LONGER UNDER DEALERSHIP WARRANTY. I HAVE FILED A CASE WITH GM ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE SO THAT I CAN GET THE CAR INSPECTED AND CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR. THEY HAVE SAID THAT THEY CANNOT ASSIST. THEY HAVE LEFT ME WITH VERY FEW OPTIONS. I CAN PAY ANOTHER $450 IN ORDER FOR MY CAR TO BE INSPECTED, OR NOT DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. THE AIR BAG IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE. BASED ON ALL OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE, THIS PROBLEM IS RECURRING AND APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. THE DISTURBING THING ABOUT THIS ISSUE IS THAT I AM NOT SURE IF THE AIRBAG ACTUALLY IS IN WORKING ORDER.

SINCE 2009, I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY 2005 YUKON DENALI TO BOTH DEALERSHIPS AND OTHER MECHANIC SHOPS TO FIX A VERY HAZARDOUS PROBLEM. TO DATE, NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR ANYTIME WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 1- 2-3RD GEARS, THE ACCELERATOR WILL SUDDENLY STOP WORKING AND THE "TRACTION ACTIVE" LIGHT WILL COME ON. FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS STARTED HAPPENING INFREQUENTLY - 1 PER MONTH - AND OVER THE YEARS HAS BECOME MUCH MORE FREQUENT - 2-3 TIMES A WEEK. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN THE ROAD CONDITIONS CHANGE. IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME UNDER ANY CONDITION. THE SCARY THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT WHEN YOU ARE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND OTHER CARS ARE ACCELERATING BEHIND YOU, THEY DON'T ANTICIPATE THAT YOU WILL STOP ACCELERATING (THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON), THEREFORE, THEY ALMOST REAR END ME. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. MY DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, YET THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE JUST FILED A CASE WITH GM FOR ASSISTANCE. WE WILL SEE WHAT THEY DO. I BELIEVE A RECALL IS LONG OVERDUE. WHILE WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN IN AN ACCIDENT, THAT IS SIMPLY BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY.

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that after his wife turned off the vehicle, the blower motor control module continued to operate and would not shut off as needed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back home and had a mechanically inclined friend to disconnect the blower motor wiring harness. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS IN THE CAR AS WELL AS ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO PULLED ME OVER TO TELL ME MY TRUCK WAS POURING GAS. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, HE INFORMED ME THAT THE FUEL PUMPED ASSEMBLY HAD ROTTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. HE STATED THAT THIS PART SHOULD NOT HAVE ROTTED LIKE THIS. THANKFULLY THIS WAS FOUND BEFORE ANYTHING CATASTROPHIC HAD HAPPENED AS I CONSTANTLY DRIVING AROUND WITH MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAVE KEPT THE OLD PART TO SHOW HOW IT HAD ROTTED. I HAVEN'T HEARD OF ANY RECALL FOR THIS BUT BEING THAT THIS SITUATION WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS I FEEL IT WARRANTS LOOKING INTO. UPON COMING OFF A ROAD TRIP IN MY SUV, I WAS AT MY SISTER'S HOUSE AND HAD PARKED MY VEHICLE IN THE DRIVE WITH THE TIRES TURNED OUT. AS I WAS COMING OUT OF HER HOUSE I NOTICED THAT THE INSIDE TREAD BELT ON MY TIRES WAS SMOOTH WITH BUT UNEVEN WEAR ON THE TIRES. SO I CHECKED THE OTHER FRONT TIRE AND IT HAD THE SAME TYPE OF WEAR ON IT. THE BACK TIRES ARE BEGINNING TO SHOW WEAR IN THE SAME MANNER. THE FIRST SET OF TIRES WERE CHANGED OUT BECAUSE OF BEING DEFECTIVE BRIDGESTONE TIRES (THEY WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS NOT NOTED IN MY SERVICE HISTORY REPORT OR ON MY CARFAX REPORT). THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD BE IT WAS NORMAL WEAR, OR A PROBLEM WITH THE SHOCKS, BUT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 36,000 MILES (OUT OF WARRANTY) HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING, TO TAKE THEM TO THE FIRESTONE COMPANY (MANUFACTURER), SO I DID. THE MAN AT THE FIRESTONE COMPANY SAID THAT IT WAS A MAINTENANCE PROBLEM, THAT I DIDN'T ROTATE THE TIRE (BUT I DID/ SERVICE HISTORY REPORT). SO I TOOK MY SUV TO A REPUTABLE TIRE COMPANY. BASICALLY MY LIFT GATE AND GLASS ARE STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION AND THERE IS NO MANUAL WAY TO OPEN THE LIFT GATE. THIS HAS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND GMC SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THE LOCK ACTUATOR TO REPLACE THEM ALL WITH A REPLACEMENT PART TO ENSURE NO ONE GETS STUCK INSIDE THERE VEHICLE. I HAD DRIVEN MY YUKON FOR ROUGHLY A YEAR WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR GLASS HINGE BROKE. IT CAUSED A LEAK AND I HAVE BEEN IN FEAR OF THE BACK GLASS COMING LOOSE OR BREAKING DURING DRIVING. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE LATCH MECHANISM OFTEN WOULD BECOME STUCK AND COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEYS. MY 2005 GMC YUKON XL 1500 WILL SPONTANEOUSLY SHIFT ITSELF INTO 4LO. THIS DOESN'T ONLY HAPPEN AT LOW SPEEDS. IT OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AND IN GEAR. WHEN IT HAPPENS, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE PUSH-BUTTON 4WD CONTROL MODULE WILL LIGHT UP OR FLASH. NO AMOUNT OF BUTTON-PUSHING WILL DISENGAGE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I HAVE ALSO NOT COME ACROSS ANY SORT OF MANUAL FIX, I.E. TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, TAKING THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR, BACKING UP, ETC. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN 5 TIMES, AND HAS ONLY CEASED TO HAPPEN BECAUSE I HAVE REMOVED THE RELAY WHICH CONTROLS THE 4WD SYSTEM. I AM FIRMLY CONVINCED THAT IT IS ONLY THROUGH SHEER BLIND LUCK OR DIVINE INTERVENTION THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. LET ME RESTATE: THIS ISSUE OCCURS ENTIRELY AT RANDOM, AND NOT ONLY WHEN JUST STARTING OFF DRIVING. IT OCCURS AT SPEED! WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE LITERALLY CAN GO FROM TRAVELING AT 35 MPH TO LESS THAN 5 MPH. THIS BASIC INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY TEN TIMES. THE 4WD CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONS AT RANDOM. THE VEHICLE MESSAGE CENTER WILL DISPLAY "SERVICE 4WD," AND A CLICKING SOUND CAN BE HEARD AS THE LIGHTS ON THE TRANSFER CASE CONTROL PANEL SWITCH ON AND OFF, SWITCHING THE VEHICLE IN AND OUT OF GEAR. SEVERAL TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE TRUCK SHIFTED INTO 4LO AT MODERATE SPEED. ONCE, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION WITH THE ABRUPT SHIFT. I AM CONVINCED THAT THIS IS A SYSTEMATIC ISSUE WITH GM 4WD TRUCKS, BUT IT IS IN NO WAY BEING ADDRESSED. IT IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD WHEN A 5400 LB. REPLACED THE 4WD ACTUATOR TOTAL BILL 762.00 WAS ALSO TOLD IT COULD POTENTIALLY SHORT OUT THE BRAIN BOX FOR THE 4WD OPERATING SYSTEM. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLD, NEVER HAD AN ISSUE ALL SUMMER UNTIL NOW, WHEN THE WEATHER TURNED COLD. TRUCK IS IN GREAT CONDITION OTHERWISE AND HAS HAD EXCELLENT SERVICE RECORD. 1999 TO PRESENT 4.8,5.3 5.7,6.0 LITER ENGINES FROM GM HAVE INFERIOR GRADE METAL IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS CAUSING THEM TO BREAK. THE VEHICLES WILL HAVE EXHAUST LEAKS AND FALSE READINGS TO THE OXYGEN SENSORS.THE EXHAUST LEAKS OF RAW EXHAUST GASES IN TO THE ATMOSPHERE TRANSLATE TO EXTRA POLLUTION INTO THE ATMOSPHERE FROM ALL THESE VEHICLES . THE OTHER MATTER IS THAT THE COMPUTER ON THE VEHICLES ISN'T GIVEN THE CORRECT OXYGEN SENSOR READING BECAUSE OF THE LEAKS ,EITHER GAS LEAKING OUT OR AIR BEING DRAWN INTO THE EXHAUST STREAM CAUSING THE PREMATURE FAILING OF CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. I HAVE A 2005 GMC YUKON XL AND WAS ALMOST HIT BECAUSE I COULD NOT TURN EFFECTIVELY. WHEN TURNING RIGHT AT LOW SPEED THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING CAPABILITY. DURING ACCELERATION AND OCCASIONALLY DURING BRAKING, THE WHEEL SENSOR(S) CAUSE THE TRACTION CONTROL TO BECOME ACTIVE, OR CAUSE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES TO ENGAGE. IN ALL CASES, ACTIVATION IS IN ERROR BASED ON AMBIENT CONDITIONS. I AM ABLE TO OVERRIDE THE TRACTION ACTIVE PROBLEMS BY DISABLING THE TRACTION ASSIST, BUT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE NOT CONTROLLED BY THE SAME SWITCH. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF THE SAME FAILURE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE, BUT NO RECALL EXISTS YET FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND MODEL. TO DATE, THE FAILURE HAS NOT CAUSED A CRASH, BUT NOW THAT WINTER IS HERE I HAVE TO MAKE REPAIRS BECAUSE DISENGAGING THE TRACTION ASSIST IS NOT PRACTICAL IN SNOWY CONDITIONS. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT IT REQUIRES CHANGING THE FULL FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY BECAUSE OF CORROSION BUILDUP ON THE TONE RING. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT HE DID CHANGE A SENSOR ON A SIMILAR VEHICLE BUT THE SENSOR DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE WHEEL BEARING WILL COST SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPLACE. WITH THE APPARENTLY COMMON NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND A LISTED RECALL IN CANADA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, I BELIEVE GM IS IGNORING A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. WHEN YOU PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE ESSENTIALLY STALLS, YOU MAY GET REAR-ENDED, WHICH ALMOST HAPPENED TO ME A FEW WEEKS AGO. HOWEVER, MY GREATER CONCERN IS NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP. RANDOMLY WHEN I WOULD DRIVE MY VEHICLE, THE TRACTION CONTROL WOULD JUST TURN ON IN MY CAR WHETHER I WAS DRIVING FAST OR SLOW. I COULD BE DRIVING STEADY WITHOUT STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY RHYME OR REASON. I SPECIFICALLY WENT TO A GM DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY DIAGNOSED AND SAID IT WOULD BE $529.00. I WENT FORWARD WITH FIXING THE CAR AND THE NEXT MORNING MY CAR WAS NOT FIXED. SINCE THE DEALERSHIP HAS DISENGAGED MY TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS AND SAID TO FIX MY CAR NOW WOULD BE $1500. I NOW AM DRIVING A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE AND OUT $500 AND NOT SURE WHAT TO DO TO FIX MY VEHICLE WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY MATTER? WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WAS ERRATIC GOING FROM ZERO TO 120 MPH. WHEN I STOPPED THE NEEDLE WAS STUCK AT 30 MPH. AT THE SAME TIME THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT WENT FROM DULL TO NON EXISTENT PREVENTING ME FROM KNOWING WHAT GEAR I WAS IN. THIS WAS HAPPENING SPORADICALLY BUT NOW THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE IS ALWAYS ON ZERO AND THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR IS NEVER LIT. I SAW ONLINE THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOR THE SAME SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM I AM HAVING BUT THE RECALL ENDED WITH 2004 VEHICLES EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THE 2005 MODELS ALSO. I SAW A RECALL (#05023) FOR THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT. I TRIED CALLING GMC TO HAVE IT FIXED AND WAS TOLD IT IS VIN SPECIFIC. I EXPLAINED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT SPECIFY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBERS. YESTERDAY I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND TURNED ON THE A/C. THE A/C BLOWER WAS BLOWING AT THE HIGHEST SETTING REGARDLESS OF THE CONTROL SETTING. I TURNED THE A/C OFF AND THE BLOWER REMAINED ON. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND THE BLOWER CONTINUED TO RUN. THE BLOWER CONTINUED TO RUN FOR APPROXIMATELY 8 MINUTES WHILE MY HUSBAND RESEARCHED ONLINE HOW TO GET IT TO STOP. THE BLOWER DID NOT STOP RUNNING UNTIL MY HUSBAND REMOVED THE FUSE. IF MY HUSBAND WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN WITH ME THE BLOWER WOULD HAVE CONTINUOUSLY RAN, CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT, AND POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE. ALSO, WE HAVE DIGITAL GEAR LIGHTS ON OUR DASH. THOSE LIGHTS STARTED PERIODICALLY DIMMING SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND HAVE SINCE GONE OUT COMPLETELY, OTHER THAN THE SELDOM RANDOM OCCASION, SO WE CAN NO LONGER READ WHAT GEAR THE VEHICLE IS IN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND ASKED WHAT THE CAUSE WAS AND HOW TO REPAIR IT. WE WERE TOLD THE COMPLETE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL CLUSTER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $350 FOR THE PANEL ALONE. JUNE 16, 2005 MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 GMC YUKON DENALI. EXCITED TO HAVE OUR NEW VEHICLE WE FIGURED EVERYTHING MUST WORK, IT'S NEW. WE FOUND OUT THE NEXT DAY NON OF THE FUNCTIONS IN THE MEMORY PACKAGE WORKED. WE CALLED THE SALESMAN WHO INSISTED WE WERE NOT OPERATING IT CORRECTLY. THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ALSO DID NOT WORK. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER ON 6/20/05 AND THE SALESMAN TOOK IN INTO SERVICE AFTER HE COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT. SERVICE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG EITHER. WHILE TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED THE BRAKES ON OCCASION FAIL TO ENGAGE AND WE END UP SLIDING FORWARD A FEW FEET. EACH TIME THE DEALER SAYS THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AND THAT THEY MUST EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. HELLO AROUND THE BEGINNING OF JUNE OF 2011 I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 GMC YUKON XL WHEN SUDDENLY I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE ON MY DASH BOARD STATING "REDUCE ENGINE POWER" AUTOMATICALLY MY SPEED WENT DOWN. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WITH ONSTAR, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE SUDDENLY WAS REDUCING SPEED AND THE BEST THING TO DO WAS TAKE IT IN TO GET CHECKED AT. ON MONDAY, JUNE 6TH I TOOK IT IN TO BOB BROWN DEALER IN MERLE HAY IN DES MOINES, IA, I SPOKE TO BOB LUNDY AND INFORMED HIM OF THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING, HE INFORMED ME THEY HAD TO DO SOME DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AGAIN, I LEFT MY VEHICLE THERE AND GOT A RIDE TO WORK FROM THEM. IN THE PM I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM BOB STATING THAT ALL IT WAS JUST A SENSOR SO THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT I INFORMED HIM THAT WAS FINE AS LONG AS EVERYTHING WOULD BE FIXED. THEY CHARGED ME $457.02, ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND REDUCE ENGINE POWER KICKED IN AGAIN, I CALLED BOB LUNDY AT THE GMC DEALER AND HE STATED THAT THE SENSOR MIGHT HAVE GONE BAD AGAIN. I WAITED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AND TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY TRUCK, I EVEN LEFT IT THERE OVERNIGHT AND ALL THEY CAN TELL ME IS THAT THEY CANNOT FIGURE THE PROBLEM OUT. I AM OUT $452 DOLLARS AND THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER ACTS UP ALMOST EVERYDAY! FROM: JAMES WARD COMMENTS: I PURCHASED A 2005 GMC YUKON XL DENALI IN DECEMBER OF 2004. AFTER JUST TWO DAYS OF OWNERSHIP I NOTICED THAT THE CARGO COVER WOULD NOT LOCK PROPERLY IN THE COVERED POSITION. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE CARGO COVER. THEY TRIED SIX COVERS BUT THEY ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OF FIT. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO INVESTIGATED SEVERAL OTHER NEW GMC VEHICLES ON THE LOT AND FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED ONE FOR ME BUT IT ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE TALKED WITH GMC WHO SAY THAT THAT CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHY AM I CONTACTING THE NHTSA? ? ? IT IS BECAUSE WHEN YOU BELIEVE THAT THE CARGO COVER IS EXTENDED AND LOCKED IN POSITION IT CAN AND DOES FLIRT BACK ON DRIVING OR EVEN BEFORE DRIVING. THE REAR SEAT IN THE VEHICLE IS A GOOD LOCATION TO PLACE CHILDREN AND INFANTS. IF THE CARGO COVER IS EXTENDED AND IT IS TOUCHED BY A CHILD IN THE REAR SEAT THEN THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT THE COVER WILL FLIRT OPEN AND COULD INJURE THE CHILD. ADDITIONALLY IF YOU EXTEND THE CARGO COVER AND DRIVE, THEN AS THE CARGO COVERBECOMES UNFASTENED DUE TO THE ILL FITTING NATURE OF THE COVER IT WILL FLIRT OPEN MAKING A DISTRACTING NOISE. IF THE DRIVER IS STARTLED BY THIS OR TURNS TO INVESTIGATE THE NOISE I BELIEVE THAT THIS PRESENTS A SITUATION THAT COULD ENDANGER THE DRIVER AND OR OTHER PEOPLE AND PROPERTY. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH THE GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY AGREE THAT THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT YOU.THE DEALERSHIP, FULLY COGNISCENT OF THIS ISSUE, CONTINUES TO SELL THE VEHICLE WITH THE PROBLEM CARGO COVERS AND REFUSES TO TELL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD MY 2005 YUKON IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT AND STABILITY SYS DISABLED LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE FIRST TRANSFER CASE MODULE AND WHEN THE PROBLEM PERSISTED THEY REPLACED THE SECOND TRANSFER CASE MODULE. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE STABILITY SYS BUT THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T JUST CHECK IT WITHOUT A RECALL. THE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO COME ON AND MORE PROBLEMS STARTED OCCURRING. THE 4L AND THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT AND STABILITY SYS DISABLED LIGHTS WOULD ROTATE FLASHING AND I COULD NOT GET THE 2WD LIGHT TO STAY ON AND ALTHOUGH IT SAID IT WAS IN 4L IT WAS STILL IN 2WD AND IT TRIED TO LOCK UP A FEW TIMES. THEN THE NEUTRAL RED LIGHT WAS ON AND BOTH WARNING LIGHTS WERE FLASHING BUT WAS STILL DRIVING IN 2WD. NEXT NONE OF THE 2WD, 4WD OR NEUTRAL LIGHTS WERE ON BUT BOTH WARNINGS WERE FLASHING AND THE (T/C) ICON ON THE DASH WAS DISPLAYED AND I COULDN'T GET THAT TO GO OFF BUT AGAIN WAS STILL DRIVING IN 2WD. FINALLY, IT WAS LITERALLY LOCKED INTO 4L, WAS MAKING AWFUL GRINDING NOISES, BOTH WARNINGS WERE FLASHING AND (T/C) ICON WERE ALL ON AND I COULDN'T GET IT OUT OF 4L NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED. I WAS STRANDED (IT WAS DARK AND LATE). I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW THEY HAVE REPLACED THE ENCODER MOTOR BUT I AM STILL VERY CONCERNED THERE IS STILL MORE DAMAGE AND I AM GOING TO CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT. IF I HAD BEEN GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY OR AT A HIGHER SPEED, I AM CONFIDENT THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN AWFUL ACCIDENT AND BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE YET DEAD!I COMMUTE TO WORK, HAVE CLIENTS WITH ME AND ALWAYS HAVE CHILDREN WITH ME GOING TO SPORTING EVENTS, FIELD TRIP, ETC. WE HAD OUR BRAND NEW 2005 YUKON SLT FOR 1 WEEK AND IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 226 MILES ON IT, WHEN THE "STABILITRAK" ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOCK UP. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON MY NORMAL ROUTE, A FAIRLY STRAIGHT ROUTE, WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER, AND TOTALLY LOCKED UP. HAD I BEEN DRIVING FASTER, I AM CONFIDENT THAT WE COULD HAVE ROLLED OR BEEN IN AN AWFUL ACCIDENT. THE "SERVICE STABILITY" LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE CAUSE OF MALFUNCTION. GENERAL MOTORS CONCLUDED THAT THE YAW SENSOR HAD NOT BEEN CALIBRATED, CAUSING IT TO ENABLE THE STABILITRAK PROGRAM WITHOUT REASON OR WARNING. WE GOT THIS VEHICLE AFTER OUR 1ST YUKON LOCKED UP APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH EARLIER. WE HAD JUST LEFT OUR HOME AND WERE ON THE STREET WE LIVE ON DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, WHEN WE FELT SOMETHING WEIRD, HEARD A GRINDING NOISE, AND THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP. THE "SERVICE STABILITY" LIGHT WAS ON. THE IS EXACTLY THE SAME SCENARIO THAT HAPPENED ON OUR OTHER 2005 YUKON. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES PRESENT IN THE COMPUTER, OR ANY ROUTE CAUSE. WE FEEL VERY UNCERTAIN OF THE "STABILITRAK" SYSTEM AND FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY REVIEW. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH OR FASTER, WE COULD BE INJURED OR DEAD. THERE MUST BE OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS MALFUNCTION. THROUGH RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED SEVERAL MONTHS APART AND AT DIFFERENT MANUFACTURING FACILITY THAN THE FIRST YUKON. THE PLASTIC SURROUND AROUND MY SEAT BELT IS DEFECTIVE. THE PLASTIC TABS HAVE BROKEN FROM NORMAL USAGE AND THE SURROUND NOW IMPEDES EITHER LATCHING OR UNLATCHING, AND THE SEAT BELT COMES UNLATCHED WHEN IT APPEARS TO BE PROPERLY LATCHED. OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR/MODEL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, AND THE SAME ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE SEAT BELTS ON THE SAME VEHICLE. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE (1) THE SEAT BELT EITHER APPEARS TO BE LATCHED WHEN IT IS NOT; OR (2) THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT UNLATCH WHEN THE RELEASE IS DEPRESSED, PREVENTING OCCUPANTS FROM EGRESSING THE VEHICLE QUICKLY IF NEEDED. THE TABS HOLDING THE PLASTIC SURROUND ARE TOO SMALL AND ALLOW THE BUCKLE TO FLEX AND JAM, OR THEY BREAK OFF AND INTERFERE WITH THE LATCH MECHANISM.

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED (ALL SERVICE PERFORMED BY A GM DEALER) AND HAS RECEIVED REGULAR UNDERCARRIAGE WASHING. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE (EBCM) HAS JUST FAILED; IF A BRAKE FLUID LEAK OCCURS, THERE WILL BE NO WARNING OR INDICATION PRESENTED BY THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP. GM HAS STATED THAT ANY REPAIRS FOR THESE SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD CONDITIONS WOULD NEED TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET, WITH AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $2500. I RENTED A 2005 GMC YUKON FROM ENTERPRISE AT THE SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA. AIRPORT LOCATION. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON HIGHWAY 101 NORTHBOUND OVER CUESTA GRADE ON THE DECENT OF THE NORTH SIDE OF THE GRADE THE HOOD POPPED OPEN, FORTUNATELY THE ADDITIONAL LATCH CAUGHT THE HOOD THUS PREVENTING THE HOOD FROM FLYING BACK AND SMASHING THE WINDSHIELD. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AT THAT MOMENT AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SECURE THE HOOD. I DETERMINED THAT THE HOOD RELEASE LEVER LOCATED NEAR THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVERS AREA HAS VERY LITTLE RESISTANCE AND IS FAR TO EASY TO RELEASE. I HAD BEEN LISTENING TO THE RADIO, TAPPING MY LEFT FOOT AROUND AND WITHOUT KNOWING IT I HAD CAUGHT THE HOOD RELEASE WITH MY FOOT AND POPPED THE HOOD OPEN. I FEEL THAT AN AFTER MARKET REPAIR COULD BE MADE BY CREATING A ATTACHABLE FLAP STYLE DOOR THAT WOULD COVER THE RELEASE LATCH UNTIL IT WAS ACTUALLY NEEDED. I ALLERTED THE RENTAL AGENCY OF THE DEFECT AND ADVISED THEM NOT TO RENT THAT VEHICLE OUT UNTIL A CORRECTION TO THAT DEFECT HAD BEEN COMPLETED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON XL. WHILE MAKING EITHER A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN AT 10 MPH, THE CONTACT COULD HEAR A LOUD POPPING OR CLICKING SOUND. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ADJUSTED THE STRAPS, LUBED THE FRONT, AND TIGHTENED THE CROSS MEMBER BOLTS. THE FAILURE WAS ALSO PRESENT IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER PERFORMED THE SAME REPAIRS AS WERE MADE TO THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AT 11,600 MILES FOR THE SAME FAILURE AND REPAIRS. AT 14,100 MILES, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE RADIATOR SUPPORT. AT 18,962 MILES, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR THE POPPING AND CLICKING SOUNDS. THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS REPLACED. ON JULY 7, 2006, THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSS MEMBER BOLTS AGAIN. AT 35,661 MILES, THE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED DUE TO THE SAME FAILURE. AT 42,092 MILES, THE STEERING SHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. AT 67,762 MILES, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A SQUEALING NOISE WHEN IT WAS TURNED. NO REPAIRS HAVE YET BEEN MADE FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,998 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,762.

The third row seat attachment from the seat to the frame has broken. It is a hook type mechanism that holds the entire row of seats to the latch in the floorboard. This car was not in an accident and the seats broke when the vehicle stopped. There should be a recall. Also the back seatbelt was on a recall for this vehicle but doesn't show up anymore. The contact owned a 2005 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 80 MPH in an interstate with her in the passenger seat and her two children in the rear seats, the steering wheel seized inadvertently and the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle veered off to the left side of the road. The contact stated as her husband was trying to regain control of the vehicle, the tires hit the pavement and the vehicle rolled over 7 times in a ditch, within 180 yards and landed on its passenger side. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact and her husband noticed that the children were no longer in the vehicle and they immediately exited the vehicle through the front driver's side window to search for them. The contact stated that her 12 year old daughter who was sitting in the rear passenger side seat of the second row with a seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed in a bush, 80 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V163000 (Seat Belts). The contact's 20 year old son who was sitting in the rear driver seat of the second row with no seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed 50 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. The contact and her family were transported to the hospital with the assistance of emergency units. The contact's son sustained a concussion, swollen knee injury, laceration on the head with 18 staples in the back of his head, 3-4 stiches on his thump and lacerations all over his body. The contact's daughter, who had been airlifted from the first hospital to a second hospital, sustained fractured skull, epidural hematoma, 2 internal brain hemorrhages, an unknown fractured part of the body, 2 dislocated primary teeth , deep laceration on her left hand that required 10 stiches and could lead to permanent nerve damage, deep laceration on her torso that required 8-10 staples. The contact's husband sustained a dislocated right elbow, laceration on face, arms and other parts of the body and a severe concussion. The contact sustained a severe concussion, significant bruising on the right side of the body, an hemangioma and CT scan showed lesions on her liver. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the police officer and the towing company advised that the accident may have been caused by damaged rear shocks. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 270,000

THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME REASON, "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". IT PUTS ME IN A DANGEROUS POSITION SOMETIMES BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY GO INTO THIS "LIMP MODE" I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS IN REPAIRS AND FIXES BY QUALIFIED MECHANICS AND YET THIS PROBLEM WILL NOT GO AWAY. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. LOSS OF BRAKES AND POWER STEERING OCCURS AFTER ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AT VARYING SPEEDS. SPEED VARYING BETWEEN 30 MPH TO 70 MPH. ENGINE WILL RESTART (BE TURNED BACK ON AFTER WAIT TIME AT THE IGNITION) AND DRIVE FOLLOWING THESE INCIDENTS, HOWEVER INCIDENTS REOCCUR. ALSO UPON TAKING IT TO A GMC CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY "CODES" RELATED TO THIS. FUEL PRESSURE WAS TESTED IN STATIONARY POSITION AND IN DRIVING AND FUEL PRESSURE APPEARED FINE. DEALERSHIP NOTED NO ISSUES. UPON PICKING THE VEHICLE UP AFTER INSPECTION THE ENGINE CUT OUT AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE WAY HOME, AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. INCIDENTS OCCURRED ON DRY ROADS. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES HAVE VARIED FROM 50 F TO 90 F AND LENGTH OF DRIVE TIME HAS ALSO VARIED FROM THREE HOURS AT TIME OF OCCURRENCE TO ONLY MINUTES AFTER START UP. INCIDENTS HAPPEN AT RANDOM AND NOT EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVEN.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL SET BETWEEN 50-70MPH, I BEGAN NOTICING MY SPEEDOMETER BEGINNING TO JUMP BETWEEN 0-120MPH CAUSING THE LIMITER TO KICK IN AND ME LOSING THE ABILITY TO CONTROL SPEED. KEEP IN MIND I'M ONLY GOING BETWEEN 50-70MPH. THIS LATER BEGAN OCCURRING WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. SHORTLY AFTER THIS BEGAN HAPPENING ANOTHER PROBLEM STARTED. NOW WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET BETWEEN 50-70MPH, THE ENGINE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATE MAXING OUT THE RPM'S AND SENDING THE VEHICLE TO APPROXIMATELY 80-90MPH BEFORE I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES OR COMPLETELY CUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. LATER ON WHEN I WOULD SET THE CRUISE CONTROL THE VEHICLE WOULD BEGIN TO JERK VIOLENTLY, REVVING HIGH THEN GOING BACK TO NORMAL BEFORE REVVING HIGH AGAIN AND ME SHUTTING OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THERE WAS NEVER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE WHOLE TIME THIS WAS HAPPENING. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM, RANDY MARION GMC IN HUNTERSVILLE, NC, TO BE CHECKED. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A BAD MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. THAT WAS REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL OCCURRING. I TOOK IT BACK A SECOND TIME AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG SO I BEGAN READING BLOGS TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. SOME HAD SIMILAR ISSUES AND SAID THE IGNITION COILS MAY BE BAD. I HAD THOSE CHECKED AND ALL WERE GOOD. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER. WINTER 2014, CONNECTICUT - BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY PEDDLE FELT MUSHY AND GOING DOWN FARTHER THAN NORMAL. DROVE SON TO SCHOOL QUARTER MILE TO SCHOOL AND NOTED THE LACK OF BRAKING ABILITY. LUCKILY ROLLING STOPS AND KEEPING DISTANCE FROM OTHER CARS ALLOWED ME TO GET BACK HOME. LOOKED UNDER CAR, DRIPPING BRAKE FLUID FROM UNDER MIDDLE OF CARD. HAD THE SENSE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER; FOR THE $2400 ESTIMATE, THEY ALSO SAID THAT MY TRANSMISSION LINES WERE LEAKING SO ESTIMATE ALSO INCLUDED THE LABOR/PARTS TO REPLACE BOTH SETS OF LINES TO FIX BOTH LINE RELATED ISSUES. I'VE ALSO HAD THE MISS PLEASURE OF HAVING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ($3500) THIS YEAR AS WELL. SLIPPING AND EVENTUALLY IT WAS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT SO HAD TO OPEN THE WALLET FOR THAT. ANOTHER ISSUE (ELECTRICAL) - I SHUT THE CAR OFF WITH THE BLOWER MOTOR ON (HEATER IN THE WINTER) AND THE BLOWER MOTOR STAYED ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, NO KEYS. IT CONTINUED TO RUN AND WOULD HAVE DRAINED THE BATTERY HAD I NOT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. PULLING THE FUSE HAD NO EFFECT. ($600) I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH THE FRONT AIRBAG SENSORS IN THE FRONT BUMPER. ONE WENT AND TWO WEEKS LATER THE OTHER WENT. NO IMPACTS, THEY JUST DIED. ($1200 FOR BOTH). I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR AIR SHOCKS ($2500) I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED (SUPPOSEDLY GM CERTIFIED)) FROM A CHEVY DEALER NOT MORE THAN 3 YEARS AGO WITH 75K MILES. I NOW HAVE 99K MILES. THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED UNDER VEHICLE AND LOWERED FROM BENEATH THE VEHICLE BY A CRANKING A CABLE. IT ALSO HAS A SECONDARY LATCH TO KEEP IT FROM FALLING ON ROAD IF THAT CABLE SHOULD FAIL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE LATCH IS DESIGNED VERY POORLY AND QUITE SUSCEPTIBLE TO RUSTING FROM ROAD SALT. THIS PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING THE SPARE TIRE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE REASON THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE SPARE TIRE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO USE WITHOUT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE ON EXACTLY HOW TO RELEASE A FROZEN SAFETY LATCH. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE BRAKES FAILED AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. TRACTION ACTIVATION ENGAGES FOR NO REASON USUALLY WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND VEHICLE REACHES APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THE GAS PEDAL LOCKS UP BRIEFLY AND ENGINE APPEARS TO WANT TO DIE, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE ACTIVATION LIGHT GOES BACK OUT AND TRUCK IF FINE. IF I DRIVE AN HOUR THIS PROBLEM OCCURS 3 TIMES. DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HE WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE, WITH THE ENGINE OFF IT BEGAN TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY FOUND THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE SHAFT IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS STRIPPED. THE BOLT WAS REPLACED. THEN, WHILE EXITING A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. THE INDICATOR STILL READ DRIVE, BUT WOULD NOT GO. HE STATED THE STEERING COLUMN DID REGISTER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE, AND WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP, IT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY STATED TISSUES NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY ADJUSTED CABLES, BUT THE WORK ORDER HE RECEIVED SHOWED THAT NOTHING WAS DONE. *AK THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR WASN'T HOLDING, IT WOULD FOLD. THE NAVIGATION RADIO SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE HEADLINER WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 01/23/06. *JB

THIS IS NOT A SAFETY DEFECT COMPLAINT BUT A CONSUMER DEFECT. THE A/C MAKES A NOISE WHEN THE COMPRESSOR ENGAGES OR SWITCHES. THE NOISE SOUNDS LIKE A CD SPINNING AND IS QUITE ANNOYING. IT CAN EASILY BE HEARD AND HAS BEEN GETTING LOUDER OVER TIME. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR TO NO AVAIL. THEY ALSO SAID ENGINEERS ARE INVESTIGATING AND I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES TO INQUIRE WITH NO UPDATES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN GREAT AND THIS IS NO COMPLAINT AGAINST THEM, JUST A GMC COMPLAINT. A NEW CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE A LOUD A/C UNIT. *NM

AT LOW SPEEDS 3-5 MPH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE - WHICH CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO TRAVEL LONGER DISTANCES TO STOP. THIS HAS CAUSED SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. I HAVE SINCE REMOVED THE ABS FUSE AFTER READING THE DETROIT NEWS ABOUT SIMILAR PROBLEMS IN CANADA AND A NATIONAL RECALL TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. GM HAS YET TO RECALL THIS SAFETY PROBLEM IN THE US...WHERE MOST OF THE VEHICLE ARE NOT SUBMITTED TO SALT CORROSION LIKE WE ARE IN DETROIT.

ON 23 MARCH 2005 AT 6:30AM, I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 YUKON DENALI IN A 15MPH SCHOOL ZONE ON A MILITARY POST WHEN MY DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE CAME OFF. WHEN I SKIDDED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GOT OUT, I NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE LUGS WAS BROKEN OFF. THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF MY WHEEL COMING OFF. I WAS ONLY DRIVING BETWEEN 10-15MPH. I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. WHEN THE TIRE CAME OFF THE VEHICLE, 2 CARS IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAD TO SWIRVE TO MISS IT. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP (CUTTER DODGE/GMC IN WAIPAHU, HI) THE FINANCE MANAGER TOLD ME TO CALL THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ON 05 MARCH 2005 AS A DEMO. I HAVEN'T HAD THE VEHICLE FOR EVEN 3 WEEKS. WHEN I TALKED WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY ON THE PHONE, THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO SEE IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SINCE IT WAS A NEW VEHICLE. WHEN I TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE LIKE AN HOUR TO DO AN ASSESSMENT ON EVERYTHING TO SEE HOW THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55MPH, I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE!!! THE SERVICE MANAGER AFTER 2 HOURS SAID THAT I WOULD BE GRANTED A RENTAL CAR FOR THE DAY, AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO AN INVESTIGATION. TODAY, 24 MARCH 2005 WHEN I WENT TO THE SERVICE STATION, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF ALL THE DAMAGES THAT WERE CAUSED TO THE ROTOR/BODY/AXEL OR SHAFT. THEY EXTENDED MY RENTAL UNTIL MONDAY. AT THIS MOMENT, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. I PAID OVER $53,000 FOR THIS VEHICLE. I WANT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THEY CAN HAVE THIS VEHICLE BACK AND GET ME ANOTHER ONE JUST LIKE IT!!!! I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET ANOTHER VEHICLE. EITHER I WILL GO TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, GMC, OR THE LOCAL NEWS. JUST LIKE I SAID, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IN THIS VEHICLE!!!!!!!*AK
