The contact owns a 1999 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle lost electrical power inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. Additionally, the contact stated that the instrument panel lights were no longer illuminated while starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the ignition switch was corroded at the contact point. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and several other unknown dealers were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

VEHICLE DIES IN TRAFFIC FOR NO APPARENT REASON. STARTS RIGHT UP. WENT ONLINE TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND RAN ACROSS INFORMATION CONCERNING A RECALL FOR 97 TO 99 HONDA'S. MY CAR IS EXHIBITING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THIS RECALL. HOWEVER WHEN I ENTER THE VIN IT COMES ACROSS AS NOT HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE KEY SWITCH. WHEN THE CAR DIES IN TRAFFIC IT IS NOT ONLY THE ENGINE BUT ALL THE ELECTRICAL POWER AS WELL. COULD MY VIN JUST BE AN OVERSIGHT AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL? I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND IT HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR BUT THIS ISSUE IS BECOMING A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR JUST RECENTLY STARTED TO DO THIS AND IT DOES IT AT ANY SPEED AND CITY OR HIGHWAY DRIVING.

You listed this VIN as having an airbag recall repair pending. I setup an appointment at the dealer. They went through the motions of doing the replacement and gave me paperwork indicating they had serviced the recall, but I believe you had lied to me and they are lying to me about the recall. This VIN does not correspond to an airbag recall according to multiple other sources. I recently inspected the passenger airbag it definitely not new. That is what clued me to begin checking further. I don't believe they replaced the driver airbag either. In the mean time I had to take buses to and from the dealership, after work, at night, in the rain, in the middle of this Omicron Covid spike. You an the dealer endangered my health and I want to know why and who is responsible.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 1999 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING WEST BOUND AT 45 MPH, THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO HAD JUMPED INTO THE LEFT LANE WITHOUT USING HIS TURN SIGNAL. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE INTO THE LEFT LANE AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT COLLIDED WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TWO FRACTURED RIB, SHOULDER AND CONCUSSION DUE TO HIS HEAD COLLIDED WITH THE STEERING THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE CONTACT INSURANCE DEEMED THE VEHICLE AS TOTALED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V026000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A 99 HONDA ACCORD V6 COUPE. MY TRANSMISSION STARTED HOLDING OUT GOING INTO SECOND GEAR, AND HAD A SMALL JERK. WHEN COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT WOULD DOWNSHIFT HARD BACK INTO 1ST GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY GAVE UP ON THE HIGHWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE NEXT MONTH DURING AN OIL CHANGE I HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND INSPECTED MY EXHAUST AND INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS MODEL THAT CAUSES THE OXYGEN SENSOR TO BE TRIGGERED. SINCE THE OXYGEN SENSOR IS PART OF THE SAME ASSEMBLY AS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THE COMPONENT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON SIMILAR HONDA VEHICLES OF SIMILAR YEARS AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT HONDA TO GET IT FIXED. TL*- THE MANIFOLD OF A 1999 HONDA CIVIC WAS CRACKED, AND THERE WAS NO WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO THE ONE IN THE MODEL YEARS: 1996 TO 1998. THE MANIFOLD'S CRACKWAS NEAR THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THE CONTACT CALLED HONDA CORPORATION ,WHO STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THEY WOULD NOT SPEAK WITH HER. SHE SHOULD CALL AMERICA HONDA CUSTOMER RELATIONS. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY AND THE PROBLEMS THAT SHE WAS HAVING WAS VIN SPECIFIC AND THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO THIS VEHICLE. STRUCTURE

3 out of 4 doors have stopped opening from the outside. The locks still work properly and have no effect on the outside door handles. The doors still open just fine from the inside, except for the driver door. The driver door will not open at all, which is a major safety issue and should have been recalled, especially since the door handles are well known issue for Hondas. Although the car does have minor damages to the body, the door handles have not been affected at all by them. This seems to be an issue that lies inside the door panel itself.

MOUSE INFESTATION OF '99 HONDA COVIC. PURCHASED CAR IN JULY 1999, FOUND MOUSE EVIDENCE WITHIN TWO MONTHS, CAUGHT MOUSE WITH TRAP. FOUND MORE EVIDENCE SUMMER 2003, SET TRAPS AND CAUGHT 10-12 MICE. TOOK CAR INTO DEALER FOR 30,000 MAINTENANCE AND TO FIX HEATER (WHICH WAS PLUGGED WITH SOMETHING). DEALER SHOP REMOVED THREE MORE MICE FROM AIR INTAKE/HEATER MOTOR AREA. WITH HANTIVIRUS FROM MICE DROPPINGS A REAL THREAT IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, SAFETY IS AN ISSUE. THE CAR WAS NEVER LEFT OPEN WHEN PARKED. THIS LETTER IS IN REFERENCE TO A SET OF 4 COOPER GLS TOURING TIRES PURCHASED FROM NTB, CLOVER, SC. TIRE INFORMATION (COOPER GLS TOURING, 185/65R 14 86T, U96L1DR0917, 1 EACH AND U96L1DR1116, 3 EACH) WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE TIRES, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE DEVELOPED A SLOW LEAK TAKING SEVERAL DAYS TO DEFLATE. ON 12/16/2018, I WAS IN HAMPTON, VA WHEN THE TIRE DEVELOPED A MORE SERIOUS LEAK AND DEFLATED WITHIN A FEW HOURS. I WAS UNABLE TO RETURN TO THE CLOVER, SC LOCATION ON THIS TIRE AND TOOK IT TO THE HAMPTON, VA LOCATION WHERE THE TIRE WAS PATCHED. HOWEVER, WITHIN A FEW WEEKS THE SLOW LEAK RETURNED WHICH PROGRESSED INTO A FASTER LEAK OVER TIME. I RETURNED THE TIRE TO THE CLOVER, SC LOCATION WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THE TIRE BALANCING WEIGHT HAD BROKEN THE BEAD AND THAT WAS THE LOCATION OF THE LEAK. AT THIS TIME IT SEEMED THAT THE TIRE PROBLEMS HAD BEEN SUCCESSFULLY ADDRESSED. HOWEVER, ON 6/16/2019 THIS TIRE SUFFERED A SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC DEFLATION WHILE PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT OF WALMART IN OSAGE BEACH, MO. I REMOVED THE TIRE AND WALKED INSIDE THE TIRE CENTER OF WALMART WHERE IT WAS REPLACED. NOTE THAT THE TIRE WAS EXAMINED AND NO EXTERNAL PUNCTURE OR SIDE WALL DAMAGE WAS PRESENT. THIS TIRE SUFFERED SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC DEFLATION WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WITHOUT ANY EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE TIRE. ON 7/11/2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:00 PM, THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TIRE SUFFERED A SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC DEFLATION WHEN THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN NORTH ON I-77 NEAR ELKIN, NC. AT THIS TIME THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY. NTB IN CHRISTIANSBURG, VA WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE TIRE AND I PURCHASED ANOTHER. DURING THIS VISIT THE NTB TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME A THIRD TIRE HAS AN INTERNAL DEFECT (BUSTED BELT). AT THIS TIME 3 OF THE 4 TIRES HAVE EITHER FAILED OR HAVE AN INTERNAL DEFECT.

I WAS DRIVING MY 1999 HONDA CIVIC LX 4 DOOR VEHICLE ON A RETURN TRIP FROM BIRMINGHAM, AL TO ATLANTA, GA AND ABOUT 45 MINUTES INTO MY RETURN TRIP THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THAT ALTHOUGH THE 1/3 OF THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE IT DID NOT BLOW OUT AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO AN EXIT SAFELY. I THEN PROCEEDED TO A WALMART TIRE REPLACEMENT CENTER WHERE I ASKED THE TECHNICIAN IF THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD SEEN THIS HAPPEN. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME HE HAD SEEN THIS ISSUE WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS AND THAT THE OTHER TIRE THAT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR REPLACEMENT HAD ONLY BEEN ON THE CAR FOR A FEW WEEKS (MY TIRE WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD). I CONTACTED FIRESTONE TO INFORM THEM OF THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD ONLY TAKE ACTION IF I COULD MAIL THEM THE TIRE. I PROVIDED FIRESTONE THE CONTACT NUMBER FOR THE TIRE SHOP WHERE THEY COULD OBTAIN THE TIRE IF NEEDED FOR ANALYSIS (FIRESTONE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN OBTAINING THE TIRE). MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SLOWED THEN CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ONE RAINY DAY WHILE GOING THROUGH A TOLL BOOTH. I WAS TRYING TO CLOSE THE WINDOW. IT STOPPED HALFWAY OPEN OR SHUT DEPENDING ON YOUR POINT OF VIEW. I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC AND TOOK A PEAK WHILE HE REPAIRED IT. THE CLAMPS ATTACHED TO THE MOTORIZED TRACK, THAT HOLD THE WINDOW IN PLACE WHILE MOVING UP AND DOWN, HAD LOOSENED UP. THE SLACK HAD CAUSE THE CLAMP TO SHIFT POSITION DURING MOVEMENT AND THE WINDOW IN TURN SLID OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THIS CAUSED THE WINDOW TO JAM AGAINST THE DOOR FRAME. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED IT WAS ALSO DURING RAINY WEATHER.

SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT WINDOWS HAVE ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR SEALS. WE HAVE ALWAYS EXPERIENCED A WHISTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE WINDOWS WHEN WE TRAVEL ON THE INTERSTATE. WE THINK THE POOR SEAL CONSTRUCTION MAY HAVE BEEN A FACTOR.

CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY SUGGESTED I HAVE THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AT A HONDA SERVICE CENTER AT MY EXPENSE. $110 COST. IF THE IGNITION SWITCH IS PROVEN DEFECTIVE, THEY WILL REIMBURSE ALL EXPENSES BUT ONLY AFTER APPROVAL FROM AMERICAN HONDA FOR A SECOND REPLACEMENT. AFTER THE STALL, THE CAR DOES NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY. I'VE COUNTED, AND IT TAKES BETWEEN 6 AND 20 TRIES TO RESTART THE ENGINE. TWICE THE CAR WOULD NOT START IMMEDIATELY WHEN I WAS LEAVING WORK AT THE END OF THE DAY. AGAIN, IT TOOK MULTIPLE TRIES BEFORE THE CAR STARTED. THE ENGINE TURNS OVER FINE, SEEMS TO BE WEAKLY STARTING, BUT JUST STOPS. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR AN EXTENDED TIME (GREATER THAN 30 MINUTES) IN HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES (100 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT OR GREATER) THE VEHICLE EMITS A STRONG AND STRANGE SMELL, WHICH APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE SMELL GENERALLY DOES NOT PENETRATE INTO THE VEHICLE'S INTERIOR, BUT IT IS STRONG ENOUGH THAT THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE PARKED IN A COVERED GARAGE BECAUSE THE SMELL WILL OVERWHELM THE ENCLOSED GARAGE WHEN THE GARAGE DOOR IS DOWN. OCCASIONALLY THE SMELL CAN PENETRATE BOTH THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE HOUSE. THE SMELL CAN BE INTENSE ENOUGH TO CAUSE HEADACHES, AND IT IS A POSSIBLE HEALTH HAZARD. I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 25 MPH AND WAS HIT HEAD-ON BY A DRIVER IN A FORD TAURS TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH IN THE WRONG LANE. BOTH AIR BAGS IN THE TARUS DEPLOYED AND MINE, IN THE 1999 HONDA CIVIC DID NOT DEPLOY. THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH HAS CAUSED INJURIES TO MY CHEST FROM THE SEATBELT WHICH PROBABLY COULD BE EXPECTED, AND SAVED MY LIFE; AND INJURIES TO MY NECK AND BACK FROM THE FORWARD THRUST CAUSED BY THE HEAD -ON IMPACT. BUT, THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED IN THE HONDA. IT IS UNREASONABLE TO THINK THEY WOULD NOT DEPLOY BASED ON THE DEGREE OF THE IMPACT . THE HONDA BODY SHOP MANAGER SAID THE OTHER CAR HIT THE HONDA ABOVE THE FRAME RAILS, WHICH IS WHY THEY DID NOT DEPLOY. IF THAT IS THE CASE, THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN MOST CRASHES THAT THIS VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN. THIS IS A VEHICLE DESIGN DEFECT. I HAVE DIGITAL PICTURES OF THE DAMAGED HONDA . TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LATCH FOR THE HOOD WOULD NOT RELEASE WHEN ITS CABLE WAS PULLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT IN OCTOBER 2009, THE HOOD CABLE RELEASE WAS REPAIRED WITH AN IMPROVED PRODUCT; HOWEVER, IN JULY 2011 THE COMPONENT FAILED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127,513.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON 1/14/05, SOUTHBOUND ON HIGHWAY I-75, MY HOOD LATCH OPENED. MY HOOD STARTED TO LIFT; BEFORE I COULD SAFELY PULL TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY THE HOOD LATCH SAFETY FAILED. THE HOOD INSTANTLY LIFTED AND SLAMMED AGAINST MY WINDSHIELD - COMPLETELY OBSCURING MY VISION. LUCKILY NO VEHICLE WAS IN THE LANE TO MY IMMEDIATE RIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE ROAD SHOULDER. THE IMPACT OF THE HOOD AGAINST THE FRAME OF THE WINDSHIELD WARPED THE HOOD HINGES, CRUMPLED PORTIONS OF THE HOOD AND BROKE MOLDING AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PARTIALLY CLOSE THE HOOD AND SECURE IT WITH BUNGEE CORDS. I WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME, DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED, WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. I CURRENTLY HAVE AN INSURANCE CLAIM BEING PROCESSED AND WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE COLLISION SHOP ON 1/17/05 FOR INSPECTION. I AM SHOCKED THAT THE SAFETY LATCH ON THE HOOD COULD FAIL UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IF THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC WOULD'VE BEEN MORE DENSE, I'M SURE THIS PROBLEM WOULD'VE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. MY FAMILY AND I WERE RECENTLY STRANDED WITH OUR 1999 HONDA CIVIC GX. IT IS A NATURAL GAS VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT START. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO A HONDA DEALER WE WERE REALLY WORRIED BECAUSE OF THE DIAGNOSIS. THEY SAID IT WAS A SHORT IN THE EMERGENCY SHUT OFF VALVE INSIDE THE NATURAL GAS TANK. A SHORT IS CAUSED BY ELECTRICITY TRAVELING THROUGH A ROUTE THAT IS NOT DESIGNED BY THE PART AND USUALLY RESULTS IN A SPARK. MY FAMILY FEELS VERY FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT RESULT IN A CATASTROPHE AT THE NATURAL GAS STATION. IT HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER WE FILLED UP. WE FOUND OUT THAT THE PART IS NON-SERVICEABLE AND THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM. I ALSO FOUND THAT IT IS AN IRREPLACEABLE PART AND THAT THE ENTIRE TANK HAS TO BE CHANGED WHICH IS QUITE EXPENSIVE. WE ALREADY CONTACTED HONDA DIRECTLY WITHOUT ANY RESOLVE. THIS CREATES A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION. SOMEHOW, AS WITH MANY OTHER DRIVERS I HAVE RESEARCHED AND READ ABOUT, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 2002 RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH (FAULTY ELECTRICAL COMPONENT) INCLUDING HONDA CIVICS FROM 1999. NO OTHER REPAIRS SO FAR HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. TWO MONTHS AGO MY SON'S 1999 HONDA CIVIC EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE. THE TIRE SHOP SAID THE VALVE STEM WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED THE STEM AT A COST OF $26. ON APRIL 16, 2009, MY SON EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE ON A DIFFERENT TIRE, LEFT FRONT TIRE, WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. HE SAID THE CAR SUDDENLY PULLED STRONGLY TO THE LEFT AND HE ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I REMEMBERED SEEING INFORMATION ON A VALVE STEM RECALL LAST SUMMER AND GAVE MY SON INFORMATION ABOUT THE DILL VALVE STEM RECALL. THE VALVE STEMS WERE THE ONES MANUFACTURED AND RECALLED BY DILL, REF. ODI DEFECT INVESTIGATION EA08022. THE TIRE SHOP DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE RECALL AND THE HONDA DEALER THAT INSTALLED THE TIRES 2 YEARS AGO ALSO PLEADED IGNORANCE. AFTER FURTHER PERSISTENCE, MY SON WAS ABLE TO GET THE HONDA DEALER TO REPLACE ALL OF THE DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS AND REPLACE THE TIRE THAT WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. HE IS STILL OUT $26 DUE TO THE FIRST VALVE STEM FAILURE WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE TIRE SHOP IF THE SPIRIT AND INTENT OF THE DILL VALVE STEM VOLUNTARY RECALL WAS BEING FOLLOWED. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE VOLUNTARY RECALL BY DILL IS INADEQUATE AND NOT ACCOMPLISHING ITS INTENDED PURPOSE. ODI DEFECT INVESTIGATION EA08022 WAS PREMATURELY CLOSED. THE RECALL SHOULD BE MANDATED BY NHTSA AND BACKED UP BY THE LAW! THE TIRE COMPANIES ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE SPIRIT AND INTENT OF THE DILL VOLUNTARY RECALL. THIS IS RESULTING IN UNNECESSARY EXPENSES TO THE PUBLIC AND A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. I FEEL IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY NOT KNOWING IF ONCOMING TRAFFIC WILL SUDDENLY SWERVE INTO ME BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE VALVE STEM. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH A DEFECTIVE CVT TYPE TRANSMISSION. COMPLAINED TO AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IF I PAID $504 IN LABOR COSTS. ONE YEAR LATER THE TRANSMISSION DIED AGAIN, I NOW BELIEVE THEY ONLY FLUSHED OUT THE OLD TRANSMISSION I DOUBT THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. I COMPLAINED AGAIN AND HAD IT REPLACED. NOW THE PROBLEM IS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT COST $80 JUST FOR THEM CHECK THE COMPUTER WHICH HAS BEEN DONE TWICE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR'S COMPUTER WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING SERIOUSLY WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. HAD THE COMPUTER REPLACED AFTER SPLITTING THE COST WITH AMERICAN HONDA SO IT COST ME $396. TWO WEEKS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON, I WENT TO ADVANCED AUTO PARTS AND HAD THE COMPUTER CODES READ FOR FREE THEY SAID IT WAS A MALFUNCTIONING O2 SENSOR, NOW THE DEALERSHIP WANTS ANOTHER $260 EACH SENSOR PLUS LABOR TO CHANGE BOTH SENSORS. *JB

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY 1999 HONDA CIVIC FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH IN SEPTEMBER 2002. I TOOK THE CAR TO GET A NEW SWITCH INSTALLED. AFTER THAT I DID NOT SEE A POSITIVE CHANGE OR FASTER START UP OF THE CAR . IN FACT, IT SEEMED TO START SLOWER AND SLOWER. WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE ACCELERATOR I FELT A GRINDING SENSATION UNDER MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL, WHICH SOUNDED LIKE THE CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO SPEED UP. ALSO, WHEN I WOULD TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION THE CAR WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY, IT STALLED FOR ABOUT (7) SEVEN SECONDS OR SO. I BELIEVE THIS CAR IS A LEMON. WHEN I BOUGHT IT, THE GEARS WOULDN'T CHANGE PROPERLY. I WOULD PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO GO UP TO SPPED ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WOULD TAKE A LONG TIME FOR THE CAR TO CHANGE GEARS, IT SOUNDED VERY LOUD BECAUSE OF THIS. I DON'T KNOW WHY IT DID THIS, I AM CONCERNED AND IT BECAME VERY ANNOYING. I HAD AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR ON OCT. 16, 2002. AS I WAS DRIVING I HEARD SOMETHING CRACK UNDER THE CAR AND THE CAR STARTED TO SPIN TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I BELIEVE THE CAR HAD A SAFETY DEFECT THAT CAUSED THE WHEELS TO BREAK, RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER TOLD ME THESE ARE SOME OF THE DAMAGES TO THE CAR: THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOOR SHIFTED, THE AXLE BROKE, THE TIRES AND WHEELS BROKE, THEY DECLARED THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS. I BELIEVE THE WHEELS/TIRES BROKE FIRST, WHICH IS PROBABLY WHAT THE CRACKING SOUND WAS THAT I HEARD WHICH CAUSED THE CAR SWERVE. MY INSURANCE COMPANY PAID THE CAR OFF SO FAST WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY ARE HIDING SOMETHING.
