What's wrong. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback and Civic Type R vehicles. Driver and front passenger seatback pads sold as replacement service parts were made without slit openings for the seat-mounted side air bags. In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the seatback pad would interfere and adversely affect air bag performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Risk. If the seat-mounted air bags cannot not deploy correctly in the event of a crash, there would be an increased risk of injury.

The software settings that control the transmission operation may result in damage to the transmission drive pulley shaft.

Risk. If the transmission drive pulley shaft is damaged, it may break, and the vehicle may lose acceleration or the front wheels may lock up while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

To prevent fuel from leaking out of a vehicle's fuel tank into the evaporative emissions canister in the event a roll-over incident occurs, the fuel pump module is equipped with a roll over valve (rov). Due to improper ultrasonic welding of the plastic case that houses the rov within the fuel pump module, the case material may break or crack, which may cause the rov to separate from the case and fail to function, thereby increasing the risk of fuel leakage in a roll-over incident.

Risk. If the plastic piece lodges in the throttle body, the throttle could stick in a partially open position. Although the driver can always stop the car by applying additional brake force, or by taking other actions (i.e., shift into neutral, turn off the ignition key, etc.), if the car continues to maintain speed when the driver is expecting it to slow, a crash could occur.

What's wrong. The front safety belt buckle release buttons can break. These red plastic release buttons are marked "press." if a button breaks, pieces can fall into the buckle assembly causing the buckle to operate improperly.

Risk. The safety belts would not provide adequate protection to an occupant in a vehicle crash.

Fix. Owners should promptly check the condition and operation of both front safety belt buckles. Carefully inspect the red release button for any breaks or cracks. Check that both buckles are operating properly by inserting each latch plate into its buckle, tug on the belt to make sure the latch is securely locked, then press the release button. The latch plate should pop out of the buckle when the button is pressed. If either release button shows any sign of breakage or cracking, or if either buckle fails to operate properly, promptly contact your authorized honda/acura dealer to schedule an appointment to have the buckle replaced or repaired, free of charge. The manufacturer is developing a remedy designed to prevent the failure of the buttons that are not currently broken.

2012 Civic

Tl* the contact called on behalf of her mom who owned a 2012 honda civic. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle was involved in a chain reaction accident. The contact stated that the the driver and passenger frontal air bags failed to deploy. Additionally, the seat belts for the driver, passenger, and rear seat passenger failed to operate as intended. The driver and front seat passengers sustained injuries to the head, chest, back, and shoulders while the rear seat passenger sustained abrasions to the face from the back panel of the front passenger's seat. Medical attention was sought by each vehicle occupant. A fourth passenger in the vehicle was not injured. The contact stated that approximately four other passengers from the other vehicles involved in the crash also sustained injuries and medical attention was also sought. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow and recovery facility. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000. The vehicle was destroyed.

Was in a car accident [XXX] and air never deployed instead a warning starting flashing saying something was wrong with my air . I was in 3 car pile up and terrain truck went under my car and slung it around cause me to hit the bridge and it bent there entire metal frame when u looked under it the doors where not even ànd hatch back was jammed with huge gap between it and the car it cause the front windshield to become detached from the glue holding it in place u could see little shavings of Glass all the way around and if u pushed it would move the back of the car was higher than the front due to impact and being bent the entire car u could tell was bent from half way to back . The air bag should have deployed I was hit 2x and the 3rd hit was me coming from the air and slamming back down all 3 hits where very hard. The light continued to come on and off staying issue with air bags afterwards but came on for the first time during the wreck stating it is why it did not deploy because there was a critical malfunction and caused it to not deploy on either sides i was told to report this to Honda but do not know how I have tried since the wreck can you plz Check these car. Takata recall previous complaint in feb. 2018, and no action taken, complaint # 11079970, air bag recall, resulting in no action taken from honda, head-on accident occurred, and air-bags should've deployed, but didn't. Injuries incurred. Honda has refused any partaking on matter. I was at a complete stop, in the turning lane, car appeared out of nowhere, and i hit her head-on to the drivers side front bumper, light, tire. This was a no-fault accident on the police report.

My mother in law was driving on a 5 lane highway and pulled out of a driveway onto the road and was attempting to make a right merge to make a right turn traveling about 10-15 mph as she was engaged in a left hand entry onto road and was about 90% complete in her maneuver and was tboned in driver side fender and door by a 2017 Mercedes’ cls at 60 mph. She was unconscious and pulled from vehicle with unknown but assumed head trauma determined later to be left frontal, right frontal, left temporal expanding hematomas in the brain, fractures of c4-c7 vertebrae, rib fractures L#3-6, #10-12, R#3, sacrum, and pelvis. 250ml R hemothorax, 1250ml L hemothorax, 250 ml hemoperitoneum, laceration of left diaphragm leaflet with herniation of left kidney into chest cavity, contusions of chest, abdomen, R arm, L arm, R leg and L leg. She died as a result of the injuries received in accident less than 24 hours later and never regained consciousness since impact. Cause of death was blunt force trauma due to MVA. She was a restrained driver in 2 vehicle MVA and police reports indicate that none of her air bags deployed upon or after impact. Other driver sustained fractured ankle with all air bags deployed. Vehicle collision occurred in state of Georgia susceptible to high humidity and high ambient temperatures. Bystanders pulled my mother in law from the vehicle as she was unconscious because there was reported fire and smoke from underneath the drivers seat that the bystanders deemed it necessary to extricate her from the vehicle prior to EMS, fire or police arrival. I suspect that the airbags SHOULD have deployed at this severe of g-force and trajectory impact. Ironic NONE of the airbags opened. Maybe she would be alive if at least one opened and did it’s job. Accident occurred on 2/9/22 and vehicle was totaled and donated to local governmental agency for fire rescue training. No other passengers were involved other than 2 drivers. Impact recorded on cctv by nearby business.

2010 Civic

Rack and pinion steering went completely out on vehicle causing car to crash into guardrail of a bridge. Car was in motion about to cross bay bridge when this happened, safety of driver and other vehicles was compromised. Car wars trying to turn right heading toward the bridge when rack and pinion failed car was stopped by hitting guardrail about 45 miles an hour. Starter had to be replaced the very next month also problems with transmission. All of this has been repaired by owner. I don't feel this should happen as vehicle does not have excess mileage on it.

I was approaching a green light, and engaged the brakes to slow down. As I approached the light reaching approximate 10MPH. The car shuddered, and the alternator must have glitched again.The wheel cranked itself back and forth, causing the car to spin and turn into oncoming traffic. This issue has been recalled for this vehicle but not this VIN. I have notified 3 Honda repair shops of this issue, and have been turned away. The problem is with the electromagnet in the electric steering column. It is well documented, and I have video of several instances of thi issue occurring. Additional witnesses of the problem are available. And the incident itself resulting in property damage and bodily harm. Honda was made aware of this problem on multiple occasions, and did nothing to remedy the problem.

Prior to receiving official recall repair instructions, I experienced sudden and unexpected issues with the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system. These issues resulted in a loss of steering control, which caused my vehicle to become involved in an accident [XXX]. This incident not only caused significant damage to my vehicle but also resulted in personal injuries for which I am still recovering. Because the recall repairs were not yet completed at the time of the accident, I was forced to pay out of pocket to repair certain parts that I didn’t know was due to the recall. I have incurred expenses that I should not have been responsible for, as these failures are explicitly recognized by Honda and the NHTSA as safety defects. I contacted Honda. I have a case number Case [XXX]. I was informed to submit documents for any pieces that I did have to buy. did that for about one month after that I was informed that they will not reimburse me for any damages that was correspondence Accident as I have a lot of damage to the front passenger side of my car as I ran into the cement barrier on the highway. Before this accident, I did not have any warning, lamps, messages or symptoms problems with my car. Not sure how I will pay for all these repairs. I contacted Honda to see if I can get the recalls done, but I still have damage to my vehicle due to the accident cause by recall, I did not know there were two recalls to my vehicle until after the accident, I took it to the mechanic and he let me know there’s an issue with my rack. 2022 Civic

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, I was driving a 2022 Honda Civic Sport with my wife in the passenger seat when the vehicle’s driver-assist/steering system unexpectedly intervened and caused the vehicle to veer off the roadway and down a steep embankment (approximately 40–50 feet) without driver input. I attempted to correct the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to respond as expected. There was no intentional steering command to leave the roadway. The vehicle appeared to steer itself, resulting in a crash. Both occupants sustained injuries. I suffered a neck/collarbone injury and a concussion. My wife suffered a concussion, a large laceration to her outer right calf, and bruising. Medical treatment was required and was sought at urgent care. After the incident, warning indicators were present on the dashboard. I later became aware that this model year has known complaints and recalls related to steering, lane-assist, or driver-assist system malfunctions. These issues were not disclosed at the time the vehicle was purchased used from a dealership. This appears to be a serious safety defect that poses a risk of injury or death to drivers and passengers. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate.

The contact owned a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact's son was driving the vehicle at 30 mph and while making a right turn, the vehicle failed to turn to cause the driver to crash into a city bus head-on. The air bags on the driver's side and the passenger side did deploy but did not fully inflate. The contact's son and passenger were not taken to the hospital or received medical treatment. The contact's son later went to seek medical attention and was found to have suffered a concussion. The passenger in the front seat hit his head on the windshield and also did seek medical attention. The police were on the scene and filed a report. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the contact's insurance company. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

My wife was driving a 2009 honda civic (purchased new all repairs/servicing since purchase made by the dealer at reading piazza honda) with my 13 year old daughter on a 2 lane highway at approximately 8:45 pm may-16-2012, no other vehicles were on the road at the time in her front or rear view when suddenly she reported that the engine unexpectedly revved up to high rpm's, where she states that she lost the ability to steer the 2009 honda civic, she tried to apply the brakes as soon as she realized the steering control was not working,however; the brakes did not work either. Her vehicle careened to the left side of the road hitting the median divider then the car careened to the right hitting the guard rail at which point the side airbag deployed and the motor shut off. Thankfully they are both alive. My daughter stated that she felt someone was pushing the vehicle from behind suddenly. I am still looking for answers to this unexplained scenario my wife and daughter reported to me, the 2 lane road was devoid of any vehicles at that time and as she stated this to me, the engine revved high, she had no ability to steer and the brakes did not work when she applied them. My 2009 (automatic) honda civic ex slipped into neutral four during the night. For the first three times, the driver would allow the rpm's to drop causing us to sit in traffic for an undefined period of time before returning the car to the drive position. On the fourth time this happened, driver and i were in a large parking lot making a right turn with a building about a football field away. About halfway through the turn, the car was placed back into drive from neutral and it began to drive itself. As the car accelerated faster and faster the driver tried to slam on the brakes many times without the pedal even budging or the car slowing down in the slightest way. When we tried to turn the steering wheel it locked up in a straight away position, causing the car to hit at least two large curbed medians and go airborne each time. Driver and i braced ourselves as the building came closer. We then hit the third and final curb, the car went airborne again slamming into the building at about six feet high on the wall. All airbags deployed, the passenger window shattered and windshield cracked. Immediately after the crash i proceeded to place the car into park when the shifter itself came out. The car was still trying to drive itself through the building when we crashed. The civic was considered totaled and the insurance company is further investigating why this happened. *tr

It was raining, i went to slow down and it was as if the front wheels locked up, tcs blinking on and off, and the tires remained pulling as if power was still being sent to the front two, locked up, tires and i had no control as the car pulled me straight forward into the side of another vehicle resulting in a collision that had me hit a stopped car so hard it spun the other car around and totaled my car. This all happened within 500 feet of where i initially pulled out onto the road i was traveling on when the car started to malfunction to the road where i attempted to turn onto to avoid the crash and could not maneuver the vehicle at all.

Our new 2005 honda civic had both front wheels lock while my wife was going to work, driving down the freeway in fort worth tx. The car was totaled, crashing into a guard rail, blowing the air bags, spinning around, starting a fire at the left front wheel and starting my wife's coat on fire as she was getting out. We have an eye witness who has a degree in engineering, photos, a police report and the car itself. The car started to pull to the right by itself and my wife was not able to correct it since the front wheels were in a complete skid. The car had 2113 miles on it and even the police commented that in her twelve years on the force she had never seen anything so strange as this. There are two solid black lines that show where the skid started in the center of the lane ending at the guardrail. Both tires are torn up and melted in one spot. The roads were dry, no traffic, nothing in the road. The transmission just locked up solid, causing a near fatal accident. I contacted the honda corporation @ 800-999-1009 and the dealer bankston honda of lewisville tx @ 866-507-6355. Honda said it was an insurance problem, bankston referred me back to honda. Finally honda said they would come out and take pictures "only" car would not be moved. The day they were to come out and take picture they said "due to safety reasons the car needed to be taken to bankston honda to take pictures, breaking our agreement. We hid the car and are seeking legal means as our insurance is having to payout due to a defect. I have a case at honda #[xxx]. In addition to this problem, i have discovered that the cigarette lighter plug-in does not work in my vehicle. My 2016 honda civic rolled out of my garage while it was in park. My daughter had just gotten home. She initially turned the car off in drive. She realized that it was still in drive and shifted to park and restarted the car. The car rolled out of the garage while still in park. My daughter attempted to exit the car, was knocked down and ran over by the runaway vehicle. She was injured by this accident. The car hit a tree across the street from my house. I found a spring in the garage floor that i thought belong to the car. I contacted america honda and took the car to the dealer. They were unable to duplicate this incident. They said there was nothing wrong with the car. I researched on the internet and found other similar incidents involving the 2016 to 2018 honda civic. I made honda aware that there was a class action lawsuit for this same issue on the internet. The rolling back in park issue had happened twice before to me.

Started my car in neutral with the parking brake engaged. The car took off by itself up a curb over a hill and struck another vehicle. I managed to get back in the vehicle and applied the brakes but the brakes did not respond. And my car was serviced at Freeway Honda in Santa Ana three days prior to the accident. I reported the problem with the brakes, they did a brake service, but they did not properly diagnose the issue and fix it. They told me they couldn’t find any problems and release the car back to me. Three days later it was in an accident and the brakes failed. Now freeway Honda has stated that they finally diagnosed the issue with the brakes, but they are refusing to fix it free of charge even though they have been deemed liable for the accident. My rear shocks were also damaged due to the impact of going up the curb and State Farm is investigating that to see if they will be paying for the repair and replacement of the shocks.

2008 Civic

Currently i have 32,277 miles and don't drive it, it's not safe to drive. I take a bus :) 1# trans locked at 60mph on hwy and caused almost a fatal crash! At 23,000 miles. Car was able to drive up to 15mpg having appx. 6000rpms. Car left at dealership and only pcm software was upd. No lockups are occurring, but trans is weaving, harsh start/stop often!/unexpected shutdown. Dealership found service bulletin #08-014 (harsh engagement), upd. The on board computer and symptoms are much worse than previously. Lower mpg ( 25-28 ), much worse performance, unexpected battery discharge, weaving, low accel. Dealer duplicated problems, but said "it's ok" and problems is untouched. Since they updated the system, the hybrid option is not kicking in as before. Prev. I was able to drive slowly only on hybrid, now i can't. No actions are taken to resolve the issue. Once they changed the ima batt pack, but this did not help and i see not a difference. Complained again, and absolutely no response. Brakes are malfunctioning. Brake fluid is missing, dealer said "[xxx], it's a mystery". Depending on outside temp, battery charge level and car temp breaks work diff! Occasionally while slowing down, the battery level reaches full and you must press the pedal as hard as you can to stop. This has caused small crashes and once brakes did not work, or i pressed too lightly ( cold outside with full battery ) and unfortunately i couldn't stop on time and ran over a pedestrian. She is badly injured and suing my insurance company! Dealer rec. To "change car, better to buy not a honda and don't bother them if nothing is broken." police report ready to present. These are only the major issues i'm having. I would need much more space to write 20 pgs essay. Minor issues: - super fast tire wear ( after 20,000 ) and now again at 32,000 - not working climate ctrl system - check engine, ima light, brake system and airbag lights on. Was T bones September 3rd 2023 exiting the freeway by a Ford F-350. Injury to left side of vehicle mainly . Airbags not side airbags deployed. Went through insurance and was told to report it to the manufacturer. Due to this I now need double knee surgery as I have tears and fluid and now have spinal injury .

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving on a decline of a public garage road and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle stalled. The contact continuously depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond, and the power steering became inoperable. The vehicle rolled at approximately 20-30 MPH and crashed into the wall of the garage. The wall sustained minor damage. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that messages advising of engine system failure, supplementary restraint system failure, and electric power steering failure were displayed on the vehicle mobile app. The front driver's side and passenger's side air bags deployed. The emergency units arrived and provided first aid to both the contact and his sister, who was occupying the front passenger's side seat during the incident. The contact's sister sustained chest pain and was in the process of receiving medical assistance. The contact sustained lower back pain and was in the process of receiving medical assistance. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000(Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. While driving steam started to appear from the engine bay. I pulled over to inspect, lifted up the hood and could hear the fuel line popping and gasoline hissing out. The engine bay spontaneously caught fire. As it ignited all of the gasoline in the air combusted and created a ball of fire in my face as I was looking in the engine bay. The fire was put out by the fire department. An incident report was created. The potential for safety risk was high and could have been worse if I was not on a road where I was able to stop or if it caught fire while I was inside the car. The vehicle has been inspected by Insurance and confirmed to be a total loss. Since nothing was left to visually inspect of the car their investigation came back nonconclusive as to the cause. There were no indication lights that there was anything wrong with the engine.

My daughter (17 years old) was driving at 35 miles in leona valley ca on last friday 2015 her honda civic (7,000 miles on odometer). Her car low-pressure air light came on and then car started to swerve violently left to right. Within few minutes the car brakes stopped functioning (according to her, it felt she was pushing on air when she pressed the brake paddle) and then the steering wheel locked. The car ended up on its side and caught fire. It started a brush fire (25 acres) here in ca. When my daughter and her two friends tried to get out the door, the other door won't open. They had to jump out of the sun roof. The question i have is what caused the fire and why did the car's brakes and steering wheel locked? What do i need to do to find out what needs to happen in order to get to the bottom of root cause of the accident?

I slammed on my brakes and tried to avoid the car in front of me by swerving to the right. The driver side of the front of my car hit the back of the car in front of me. I was parked in shopping center. I came out of cvs pharmacy and carefully backed my car out. I began a left turn lane (still in shopping center) not into main road and suddenly the car's speed escalated rapidly and i could not stop it - it jumped the curb and in trying to avoid hitting shops car crashed headlong into light pole. It would appear that the gas accelerator was stuck. The airbag came on and i was injured by that. The front end of auto was badly damaged. This is a honda civic 2010 and there was a crash and one person injured (me) which when i print this your form reverts to original form. *tr

I leased our brand new 2010 honda civic on 05/31/2010. Primarily i used the vehicle to commute from/to work. I am a very responsible driver and took a good care of the vehicle changing oil regularly, check liquids, etc. While driving on a highway on a sunny dry day on 07/28/2011 in the left lane with average speed 40 mph, the traffic ahead of me slowed down and i applied brakes and the brakes failed (did not work). I heard a metal sound and pushed a pedal stronger. I think the vehicle probably did not slow at all. I turned left to a shoulder in attempt to stop a vehicle and avoid a direct collision with a vehicle in front of me. I believe i could get much worse injuries if i had not done this turn. Driving in a shoulder i pushed the brake pedal as hard as i could and tried to straighten my car's trajectory and stop it in a shoulder, but my car fishtailed out of control, consistently deviating to the left where concrete highway divider was and did not stop. Very loud noise was coming out of the front of the vehicle all the time since i applied brakes, which prove that the brakes failed. I constantly tried to straighten it until my car collided in to the vehicle in the left lane. A result of this was a four car accident and eight body injuries including myself. And the worst part was my insurance company consider it to be my fault!!! I called honda several times asking them to take the vehicle for brakes inspection because obviously there was something very wrong with my vehicle. And it most likely was a manufacturing defect which can cause more accidents/injuries in the future. After the accident a car was not drivable. They advised me to hire a tow truck $150 on my own expense and bring a car there and have paid checkup, which can be anything between $500 and $2,000. My car was 18k miles when the accident happened. At approximately 35 to 40 mph when applying the brakes lately due to traffic slowing down in front i had absolutely no brake pedal at all. The pedal went immediately down to the floor and the vehicle had failed to slow or stop. To avoid accident i veered to the dirt shoulder and begin to spin out of control ending up back on the road and crashing into another vehicle. The seatbelts had failed to lock as if the brake pedal was never depressed and it appeared that as soon as the tires hit the dirt shoulder the vehicle gain speed. In addition airbags were never deflated.

(d) "adjustment program" means any program or policy that expands or extends the consumer's warranty beyond its stated limit or under which a manufacturer offers to pay for all or any part of the cost of repairing, or to reimburse consumers for all or any part of the cost of repairing, any condition that may substantially affect vehicle durability, reliability, or performance, other than service provided under a safety or emission-related recall campaign. On wednesday, june 11, 2008 i was driving from mar vista, ca to san leandro, ca with my 4 year old son and 20 year old sister in law. We were on the 580 w driving in the far left lane at 65mph at 11:30 am when we heard an explosion in the rear of the car. When we inspected the car, the right rear tire was blown through. The side walls were intact, but the whole top part of the tire was not connected to the side wall. My car is a 2007 honda civic coupe ex and it had about 8300 miles. I purchased the car in july 2007. The crash caused significant damage to the front left side of my car. The car is now at a body shop and is being repaired in san leandro, ca. We have the defective tire. After doing more research i found that honda had issued a service bulletin about uneven or rapid tire wear. Tsb 08-001 on february 8, 2008. I did not receive notification of this serious defect because honda is not required to notify consumers regarding tsbs. This defect is serious and affects nearly all 2006-2007 honda civics. This tsb needs to become a recall. All owners of 2006-2007 honda civics need to be made aware of this life threatening defect. I understand that tires should be checked regularly, and many consumers do, however, my tires did not give me any warning of uneven wearing. Actually, it would be hard to notice since my 2007 civic coupe ex is not quite on the road and you can feel any little bump in the road. I was told that this was normal because of the stiff suspension. Overall, i seriously hope that this is addressed quickly. Many unsuspecting drivers, many of whom have driven honda's in the past are not expecting this type of problem which can cause tire blowouts and possible fatal accidents. It would be unfortunate that a class action suit or the death of innocent consumers prompt honda to make this tsb 08-001 notice a recall notice. *tr

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at 56 MPH, the steering wheel independently shifted to the left as the contact lost control of the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact swerved back and forth in an attempt to regain control of the vehicle; as a result, the contact hit several highway median divider poles. The air bags did not deploy during the failure. The contact sustained minor back and shoulder pain but did not seek medical attention. A police report was filed. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the rear passenger side tire was damaged and had leaned inward toward the axle. Despite the failure, the contact managed to drive the vehicle home at a low rate of speed. The next day, the vehicle was towed to an independent body shop to repair the front-end damage to the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V704000 (Steering). A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

As driving down the interstate. My car was on adaptive cruise as well as lane assist. It was like a nightmare! The car took total control. Throwing me from right to left to right to left and finally into a concrete barrier. The vehicles suspension on the drivers side both front and back failed. It was a nightmare you could not wake up from. I could have easily rolled the car over. And easily hit other vehicles. No warning lights or anything was on before the incident.

My 2006 honda civic ex sedan has had many problems with both sun visors since i bought the vehicle. The visors have both melted and broke which cause them to hang down in view and will not go in the up position. While driving down the 4-lane the visor on my side fell in my view, in shock i tried to stop the car since i could not see and was rear ended and rolled into a barrier. The visor now wont go up at all and is about to break off. *tr

A police report was filed. The passenger side of the windshield shattered as designed into tiny pieces. The driver's side splintered into shards, resulting in severe eye damage to the driver. He was transported to a local hospital and several pieces of glass were removed from his eyes. A few days later, he was taken to an eye doctor to have several more pieces of glass removed from his eyes. The contact called the manufacturer to report the failure and they stated that they could not assist, and provided her with the number to the nhtsa hotline. The failure and current mileages were 34,000.

My sun visor cracked at the hinge over a year ago and since that time it would repeatedly fall in my face blocking my line of sight. Many times it even hit me in the head. Honda wouldn't pay to replace or fix it. I finally removed it since it obstructed my view of the road so now i have the sun in my eyes. I am not apt to buy the same part again as i've seen hundreds of postings online about honda civic owners who have experienced the same problem. There needs to be a recall of this visor and honda needs to replace these parts in all civics with functionable parts. *tr

Traveling on interstate 64 when the rear glass shattered and imploded into the vehicle. Glass was projected into the cockpit of the car (all over the place). Drivers side window was down completely, along with the passenger window down approximately 3". Dealer ship was called and they ask that the car be returned immediately. There were no other passengers in the vehicle. The driver was covered with glass debris and also obtained a small cut on forehead. Traffic was mild. *jb

Brakes never worked right, felt like not stopping quick enough, had replaced 3 or 4 times since 2001, but to this day, when stopping suddenly with brake pedal fully to floor, car doesn't want to stop & is scary. Was rear ended,radio & speakers quit working, replaced & alarm quit working, had to have it completely removed & had damaged fly wheel. Alarm malfunction was causing car to run in "safe mode" and car was using too much gas. The gas indicator is not accurate, and slow to adjust to empty or full levels, even when in perfect weather. Even now i am certain that i do not get good gas mileage in city or highway driving & feel this car is vastly overrated in every way! Srs indicator light is always on for 3 years now, red in color, i never knew this was a problem before reading bulletins ( but do now). Right front window was slow to roll down for months, then wouldn't roll up in cold weather, and now won't work at all regardless of weather conditions. Is stuck, and where i thought it might be a simple fuse issue, now we're finding out it will be a $600 window motor issue. Not a very happy honda customer right now. Ironically, i bought this civic because of a prior positive experience owning a honda crx, which was wonderful. This honda civic 2001 has changed the way i view honda's in general, unfortunately. *jb
