Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V370000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. The contact has stated that they were not aware they the vehicle had previously been in a crash or that it was missing an airbag at the time of purchase.

My mother in law was driving on a 5 lane highway and pulled out of a driveway onto the road and was attempting to make a right merge to make a right turn traveling about 10-15 mph as she was engaged in a left hand entry onto road and was about 90% complete in her maneuver and was tboned in driver side fender and door by a 2017 Mercedes’ cls at 60 mph. She was unconscious and pulled from vehicle with unknown but assumed head trauma determined later to be left frontal, right frontal, left temporal expanding hematomas in the brain, fractures of c4-c7 vertebrae, rib fractures L#3-6, #10-12, R#3, sacrum, and pelvis. 250ml R hemothorax, 1250ml L hemothorax, 250 ml hemoperitoneum, laceration of left diaphragm leaflet with herniation of left kidney into chest cavity, contusions of chest, abdomen, R arm, L arm, R leg and L leg. She died as a result of the injuries received in accident less than 24 hours later and never regained consciousness since impact. Cause of death was blunt force trauma due to MVA. She was a restrained driver in 2 vehicle MVA and police reports indicate that none of her air bags deployed upon or after impact. Other driver sustained fractured ankle with all air bags deployed. Vehicle collision occurred in state of Georgia susceptible to high humidity and high ambient temperatures. Bystanders pulled my mother in law from the vehicle as she was unconscious because there was reported fire and smoke from underneath the drivers seat that the bystanders deemed it necessary to extricate her from the vehicle prior to EMS, fire or police arrival. I suspect that the airbags SHOULD have deployed at this severe of g-force and trajectory impact. Ironic NONE of the airbags opened. Maybe she would be alive if at least one opened and did it’s job. Accident occurred on 2/9/22 and vehicle was totaled and donated to local governmental agency for fire rescue training. No other passengers were involved other than 2 drivers. Impact recorded on cctv by nearby business.

The contact's grandson owns a 2005 Honda Civic. The contact stated her grandson was driving at approximately 70 mph when he dozed off and crashed into another vehicle. The contact and her husband were driving in front of the grandson's vehicle and the contact's husband witnessed the collision from his rearview mirror. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's grandson later went to the hospital for injuries sustained from the seat belt digging into his chest and had a cut on his arm. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, then to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the mechanics. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. Invalid VIN.

Air bag light came on due to cable reel (clockspring) failure. I called Honda and they said I would have to pay for repair and dealer said $450 cost. I bought cable reel at NAPA auto parts for $146 and installed it myself but air bag light stays on. I researched technical service bulletins and find updates to vehicle software to resolve the air bag indicator staying on even when reset. I called Honda again and they said air bags covered until 2022 but I would have to pay a dealer to evaluate the system. I repaired the cable reel at my cost and my labor and I think Honda since air bag related should cover the repair of the cable reel and update the vehicle firmware and if needed replace the air bag under the 20 year safety related federal law. Considering the history of air bag issues I would think Honda would offer to have my vehicle inspected at no cost to me and refund what I have receipts for.

THIS CAR HAS A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. UNKNOWN TO ME, IT CAME THAT WAY FROM THE DEALER. A COUPLE HONDA DEALERSHIPS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM. IT FIRST STARTED SLIPPING AROUND 40,000 MILES. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THIS WAS WHEN THEY TOLD ME OF THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AND THE RECOMMENDED FIXES. THE TRANSMISSION INITIALLY FAILED AT 54,300 MILES. STEVENS CREEK HONDA CLEANED THE TRANSMISSION WITH A SPECIAL DETERGENT AND REPLACED THE FLUID. THEY SAID IF THE PROBLEM CAME UP AGAIN BEFORE 109,000 MILES THEY WOULD HAVE TO ?BURNISH? THE TRANSMISSION. WHAT I DIDN?T REALIZE IS THAT THE DETERGENT CLEANING WAS A ?BAND-AID? FIX SO THAT THE DEALERSHIP COULD AVOID THE MORE COSTLY FIXES THEY WERE OBLIGATED TO PERFORM UNDER THE TERMS OF THE LAWSUIT. THE CAR PERFORMED NORMALLY AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY APPROACHING SOME TRAFFIC, SLOWING FROM ABOUT 60MPH TO A STOP. AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN, I NOTICED THAT MY ENGINE RPM WAS STAYING RELATIVELY CONSTANT (VEHICLE WAS NOT DOWNSHIFTING), I COULD HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING, AND THE BRAKES SEEMED LESS EFFECTIVE AT SLOWING MY VEHICLE. IT ESSENTIALLY FELT AS THOUGH I HAD CRUISE CONTROL ON, BUT IT WASN'T CANCELLED BY APPLYING THE BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO NOT HIT TRAFFIC STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME, BUT HAD TO QUICKLY SWITCH TO NEUTRAL TO STOP COMPLETELY. WHEN I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE RPMS JUMPED UP BEFORE DROPPING BACK DOWN AFTER A FEW SECONDS. I PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE TO MOVE OFF TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND THE CAR SEEMED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. AFTER SHUTTING MY CAR OFF, CHECKING THE FOOT WELL FOR OBVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE/ACCELERATOR PEDALS, AND WAITING A FEW MINUTES, I PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO FUNCTION AS USUAL, SO I REENTERED THE FREEWAY CAUTIOUSLY. ABOUT A QUARTER MILE LATER, AFTER GETTING UP TO THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC (ABOUT 50 MPH), I NOTICED THE SAME ISSUE: THE CAR MAINTAINED A CONSTANT SPEED EVEN WHEN MY FOOT WAS OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR. I PRESSED THE BRAKE TO SLOW BACK DOWN AND GET TO THE SHOULDER, BUT THE ENGINE KEPT TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL, THE RPM SPIKED BEFORE SLOWING BACK DOWN TO IDLE. THE CAR IDLES FINE, AND THE ISSUE ISN'T VERY APPARENT AT LOWER SPEEDS. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT MY FLOOR MATS WERE NOT ON TOP OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THERE WERE NO OTHER ITEMS IN THE FOOT WELL WHICH MAY HAVE INTERFERED WITH EITHER PEDAL, AND MY FOOT WAS NOT HITTING BOTH PEDALS WHILE TRYING TO BRAKE.

IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IS COVERED THROUGH A SAFETY ISSUE OR WARRANTY? I CAN'T ATTACH A PICTURE OR DOCUMENTATION, BECAUSE CURRENTLY MY HOOD IS BEING HELD DOWN BY STRAPS ON THE INSIDE. I HAD NOTICED THE HOOD LIFTING UP WHILE DRIVING AND DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM AFTER OPENING THE HOOD.

Hagerstown Honda is 80 plus miles away from my house. My ignition failed which is a very common problem in that generation of all Honda vehicles. My ignition failed and I had it replaced by a local mechanic with genuine Honda parts. All dealerships including Honda run a monopoly on reprogramming ignition. The local mechanic taped the old key under the dash to get the car started. Not long after my hybrid battery failed and I had it replaced at Hagerstown Honda. I told them to reprogram the ignition. They said they would do it and never did it. Not long after the car refused to start and I found out from the local mechanic that Hagerstown Honda never reprogrammed the ignition. Car has sat in my driveway for years with me renewing tags. Honda started calling me and sending me letters via USPS about thd airbag. I told them to not call me anymore. My father had the same problem with his 2004 Honda Accord. Honda stalked and harassed us for years, supposedly on behalf of your agency. Honda has violated FCC regulations. I wrote a letter to Maryland state and they forwarded it to Honda serving as a cease and disist. They haven't complied. I sent a copy a complaint to your agency which was forwarded to Honda and they decided to stalk and harass me through email. I've had to unsubscribe twice. The car has been sitting so long the frame is probably totaled. I want a new car or money in the equivalent to a new car and compensated for the harassment.

The air bag light came on in April of 2022 indicating that the air bag will not deploy in the event of a car accident. We took the car to the Honda dealership and the mechanic diagnosed it as a bad seat-belt tensioner and confirmed that the part is under warranty by American Honda. The dealership requested the part from American Honda and they have failed to provide the part to the dealership stating that is is not available. They have given us ETAs for the part but it has never arrived. We requested a rental car to drive while waiting for the part but were denied by both American Honda and the dealership. American Honda's response is that the car just should not be driven. We cannot sell the car while this light in on but need to continue to drive the car for work. The air bag light remains on and still will not deploy if an accident were to occur causing a significant safety risk. We have not involved police or insurance representatives or any other outside parties aside from American Honda and the dealership. We spoke with a representative,at American Honda today who again confirmed that they do not have the part, do not have an ETA on the part and will not pay for a safe vehicle to drive. Considering the amount of time that has elapsed, they are clearly in violation of their warranty.

- Sensor in seatbelt, causing airbags not to deploy (airbag light is on) -Since the airbags will not deploy, this is a danger -The dealer, Avalon Honda, confirmed that replacement of this part is warrantied for life by Honda. They are willing to replace it at no cost but the part has been on "Critical Back Order" status since the problem emerged for us (November 2022). Avalon Honda has not been able to get the part (for the driver's side seatbelt) and my daughter's safety is at risk. Honda warranties this for life BECAUSE it is a safety issue. I've been more than patient and now need help getting Honda to move. -Yes there is a warning light, the airbag light is on. It first appeared in November of 2022. In February Avalon Honda obtained the part "through other means" for the passenger side seatbelt despite the "critical back order" excuse from Honda. Since February I have been waiting for the OTHER (driver's side) seatbelt sensor to be replaced. I was told in February that the part would be available at the end of April. That time has come and gone and I now need help to force Honda to act. -Part number is 04816-S5D-A02ZC

I took my car to Balise Honda in West Warwick, RI for the recall Tikata air bags. The light went off after repaired. However light then came on for Code 9-3. Seatbelt driver. A part for metal part of belt has been ordered a month ago and can't get answer and I am now due for Inspection and will face suspension of my regestration and will have no use of car.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEATBELT WAS DIFFICULT TO TIGHTEN AND THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. YELLOW WARNING LIGHT ON DASH. DIAGNOSTIC REPORTS FROM AUTOZONE INDICATED MISFIRE CODES OF 1, 3, 4, AND RANDOM MISFIRE. RADIATOR FLUID STARTED TO GO DOWN IN ENGINE WITHOUT DRAWING RADIATOR FLUID FROM THE RESERVOIR FOLLOWING A ROUTINE CHANGING OF THE ENGINE BELT IN JUNE 2020. MECHANIC FAILED TO REFILL THE RADIATOR RESERVOIR, BUT MECHANIC AND HONDA DEALERSHIP REPORT THIS WOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED A HEAD GASKET FAILURE. A SIMILAR PROBLEM OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR HAD 88,000 MILES ON IT, AND A MECHANIC IN SILICON VALLEY FAILED TO REHOOK UP THE RADIATOR RESERVOIR WHILE WORKING ON THE SRS. AFTER DRIVING 699 MILES TO PORTLAND, OR, THE CAR OVERHEATED ON A CITY STREET, WAS IMMEDIATELY STOPPED, AND TOWED TO A GARAGE. THE GARAGE FOUND RADIATOR FLUID TO BE LOW IN THE RADIATOR, REFILLED IT, LET IT IDLE FOR TWO HOURS, AND THE CAR WAS THEN DRIVEN TO SEATTLE, AND IMMEDIATELY TO THE BAY AREA AFTER THAT. WHILE CROSSING THE CALIFORNIA BORDER IN THE MOUNTAINS AND SNOW, THE HEAD GASKET COMPLETELY FAILED, AND THE CAR WAS NO LONGER DRIVEABLE. STATE PATROL GAVE ME A RIDE TO YREKA WHERE I PURCHASED A GALLON OF RADIATOR FLUID FROM BAXTER AUTO PARTS, AND LIMPED BACK TO THE BAY AREA TO HAVE A HEAD GASKET DONE AT THE COLLEGE OF ALAMEDA. THE MECHANIC WHO DID THE SRS REPORTS THE HOSE NOT BEING HOOKED UP WOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THIS PROBLEM, AND THAT THIS CAR WAS MORE PRONE TO HEAD GASKET FAILURE. THE FACT THAT BOTH HEAD GASKETS FAILED WITH THE RESERVOIR NOT BEING HOOKED UP OR OPERABLE RAISES A NUMBER OF QUESTIONS. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO HONDA AMERICA, BUT HONDA SAYS THEY HAVE NO FURTHER INFORMATION, NOR HAS A RECALL BEEN FILED. RESEARCH SUGGEST THAT HONDA CIVIC ENGINES FROM 2001-2005 HAVE A MUCH HIGHER INCIDENCE OF HEAD GASKET FAILURES, AND I AM WONDERING WHY HONDA HASN'T RECALLED THE HEAD GASKET?

I PAID $4,200 IN A CASHIERS CHECK 9/12/2018 FOR A CAR. OWNER TOLD ME IT HAD BEEN TESTED AND LOOKED OVER BY HIS MECHANICS AND THAT IF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION OCCURRED THAT IT WAS UNDER A GUARANTEE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, 9/13/2018, I HEARD STRANGE SOUNDS FROM ENGINE AND CAR FREQUENTLY JERKED FORWARD. TOOK IT TO SOUTH TACOMA HONDA TO INSPECT VEHICLE FOR $143.13. WAS TOLD VALVES NEED TO BE ADJUSTED AND WOULD COST NEARLY $500. WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND THE MANAGER NAMED CHOCOLATE. TOLD ME TO TAKE CAR TO 161 GARAGE TO GET FIXED OVER WEEKEND. THAT MONDAY WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T COMPLETE JOB AND TO HAVE HONDA COMPLETE JOB. CHOCOLATE RELUCTANTLY AGREED TO GET CAR TO HONDA TO HAVE THEM ADJUST THE VALVES AND HE WOULD PAY FOR IT WHEN IT WAS FINISHED. HE DID NOT SHOW BACK UP AND BOTH MYSELF AND THE HONDA SERVICE REPS HAD TO CALL HIM FOR PAYMENT. WORKED OUT PAYMENT IN THE MORNING IF HIS DEALERSHIP AGREED. HONDA REP CALLED DEALERSHIP ASKING REPEATEDLY FOR AN OWNER OR MANAGER AND NEVER GOT STRAIGHT ANSWER. WHEN EXPLAINING MY SITUATION AND INQUIRING AUTHORIZATION FOR PAYMENT FROM CHOCOLATE, PERSON ON PHONE FROM THE DEALERSHIP BEGAN BAD MOUTHING THEIR OWN EMPLOYEE SAYING HE WAS A NOBODY AND ADMITTED THEY LIED ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE CAR TELLING THE HONDA REP 'SO WHAT.' WAS ABLE TO TAKE CAR BUT WAS TOLD ME TO RETURN IF THE PAYMENT WAS NOT MADE THE NEXT MORNING. THAT MORNING, 9/18/2018, MY GIRLFRIEND AGREED TO DRIVE ME TO WORK AND GO BACK IN IF HONDA CALLED. BUT CAR DIED ON THE FREEWAY NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENT AND WAS HARD TO BRAKE. WE WERE LUCKY WE HAD BEEN CLOSE TO SHOULDER SO I COULD VEER AWAY FROM CARS AND OFF THE ROAD. WE HAD TO GET IT OFF THE FREEWAY AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THE HONDA IN RENTON COSTING ANOTHER $15. THEN $148.50 INSPECTION FEE FROM HONDA RENTON AFTER SERVICE REPS FOUND MAJOR ENGINE ISSUES WITH CYLINDER 3 CAUSING THE VALVES TO COME LOOSE OVERNIGHT.

K20A3 CAMSHAFT LOBES HAVE PITS/GALLING ON THEM. THEY MAKE A LOUD TICKING/TAPPING NOISE. POSSIBLE DECREASE IN GAS MILEAGE, POOR PERFORMANCE, AND RELIABILITY ISSUE. IF LEFT UNINTENDED COULD CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE TO ENGINE. COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE K20A3 ENGINES MANUFACTURE DEFECT. HONDA SHOULD ADDRESS THIS.

LAST AUGUST 2009, I EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 HONDA CIVIC. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO BRAKING. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO HONDA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY ADJUSTED THE BRAKES AND DOCUMENTED IT WAS REPAIRED. THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN TWO DAYS LATER AND THIS TIME, THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THE ADVISED ME IN WRITING TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND TO BRING IT BACK. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND I HASSLED WITH THEM AND THE NATIONAL AMERICAN HONDA CORPORATION CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOT NO SATISFACTION, NO REPAIR. IN THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOCUMENTATION THEY TRIED TO CLAIM THAT MY BRAKE SHOES WERE WORN OUT, BUT THAT WAS NOT TRUE AS THEY HAD BEEN INSTALLED JUST ONE MONTH BEFORE AND SUBSEQUENTLY WHEN INDEPENDENT MECHANICS LOOKED AT THEM, THEY TOLD ME THE BRAKE SHOES AND ROTORS WERE FINE. INDEPENDENT MECHANICS ADVISED ME TO GET THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER CHANGED. FOR 3 MONTHS I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR, I DOCUMENTED THE PROBLEM IN DETAIL AND TRIED TO PERSUADE HONDA TO FIX IT. THEIR FLAT OUT REFUSAL BY DENYING THERE WAS A PROBLEM (I HAD THE CAR TOWED 3 TIMES TO THE DEALER AFTER EACH EPISODE OF BRAKE FAILURE) WAS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. FINALLY, IN OCTOBER 2009, I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO ANOTHER GARAGE AND THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE BRAKES HAVE NOT FAILED SINCE, BUT WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT THE OTHER DAY, IT SEEMED THAT THE PEDAL WAS ONCE AGAIN SLOWLY CREEPING TOWARD THE FLOOR. THIS IS HOW THE PROBLEM HAD STARTED SO I'M WONDERING IF IT TRULY HAS BEEN FIXED. I HAVE MUCH DOCUMENTATION OF THE ABOVE EVENTS. THE NEWS OF THE RECALL THAT JUST OCCURRED WITH HONDA VEHICLES HAVING "SOFT BRAKES" MATCHED EXACTLY THE DESCRIPTION OF MY PROBLEM WITH SUBSEQUENT BRAKE FAILURE, SO THAT GRABBED MY ATTENTION. This car had not been driven or started in 36 hours. it was sitting at the end of my driveway . there were no vehicles near it or close to any traffic. i noticed a black smoke coming from rear seat/trunk area of drivers side. This is where the batteries were located..I called fire dept. It suddenly burst into flames. The car burned up. The fire was so hot the doors blew open. Glass exploded and shattered. Tires Burned. This car was just sitting there! I would drive this car short distances a few times a week. I didnt see any light indicators on dash that alerted me to any problems.I notified Honda but they were not interested in inspecting it.

NOTICEABLE GAS SMELL, ESPECIALLY WHEN ENGINE TURNED OFF. DIAGNOSED BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. 2" CRACK ON PLASTIC COVER OF FUEL PUMP MODULE. REPAIR COST OVER $400. HE INDICATED THAT HE HAS HAD 3 HONDAS W/ THIS ISSUE IN 2 WEEKS. THIS WOULD SEEM A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY W/ THE PLACEMENT OF THIS UNIT UNDER THE REAR SEAT. FORTUNATELY NO SMOKERS IN THIS CAR. THE SMELL HAD BEEN SLIGHTLY NOTICEABLE FOR ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS BUT BECAME STRONGER AFTER A TRIP W/ LONGER DRIVE TIMES THAN DAILY USAGE. A 6-10 MPG DECREASE BECAME OBVIOUS AT THIS TIME AS WELL.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL FIXED. SHORTLY AFTER THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG WAS FIXED THE AIR BAG DASH LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINS ON TO THIS DAY. A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG RECALL WAS FIXED I RECEIVED A SECOND RECALL NOTICE FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE SECOND RECALL I INQUIRED ABOUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYING ON. THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT THE RELAY LOCATED IN THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WAS THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD COST $403. UPON MY RESEARCH OF THE INTERNET AND SPEAKING WITH OTHERS WHO ALSO HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AFTER THE RECALL AIR BAGS WERE FIXED, IS SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. HONDA DISAGREES THAT THIS IS ANY CAUSE THAT THEY HAVE DONE....JUST COINCIDENCE THAT SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM AFTER THE RECALL ON THE AIR BAGS ARE FIXED. HONDA CLAIMS THAT IT IS A RELAY SWITCH LOCATED IN THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. IT JUST SEEMS TO BE SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER THE AIR BAGS PROBLEM IS FIXED. I TRIED TO TELL THEM ALSO THAT MY CAR HAS A LIFE TIME WARRANTY ON THE SEAT BELT. THEY DECLINED TO FIX IT, SAYING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. SO I ASKED THEM WHAT IT MEANS SINCE THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON IN THE DASH. HONDA SAYS THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT WORK IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT, SINCE THE AIR BAGS CANNOT TELL THAT THE SEAT BELT IS BUCKLED. SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE DASH LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THEY TRIED TO FIX THE AIR BAGS. THE REMEDY FOR THIS ACCORDING TO HONDA IS A NEW SEAT BELT BUCKLE OF WHICH THEY WILL NOT COVER IN THE LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE SEAT BELT BECAUSE THEY CLAIM IT IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. COOLANT KEEPS LEAKING. WENT ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC CAN'T SEEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM NEITHER CAN ANY OF THE OTHER OWNERS ONLINE MECHANICS. DT: CONSUMER STATED HER SON WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT. I purchased this car from a Honda dealership used for over 7 thousand dollars in 2021 it's a 2005 car with known issues. I drove it for less than 2 months before it overheated without an indication by the gauge that it was overheating and blew a head gasket. It was acting funny before it happened I brought it back to the dealership a couple times they charged me several hundred dollars to do nothing besides diagnosed it and told me nothing was wrong with it. Obviously there's plenty wrong with a car I'm just finding out that the battery is probably going to die really soon and I had to pay a mechanic to put another engine in it and paid another 2 thousand dollars. Now the transmission is completely gone and I have to figure out how to come up with more money to fix it while I'm out of work because of this I should have done better research before I bought this car but why aren't there any lemon laws for used cars just purchased from dealerships in a lot of states Florida only has one if it's a brand new car very unhelpful and unfortunate for me right now that a multi billion dollar company can do this to me and leave me broke without a car and out of work knowing they sold me a car that was going to have multiple failures really soon luckily I wasn't on the highway when my engine died or after I replaced the engine and the transmission died or it could have been dangerous my advice is don't trust anyone and good luck in this country with transportation gas is $4 a gallon only reason I bought this car and it was a bad idea to say the least I thought buying from a dealership wouldn't leave me completely broke and broken down . Oh and the cruise control malfunctioned once scared me to death on the highway almost caused me to crash into the car ahead of me.

In 2019 Honda came out to fix the air bag recall. I never had problems with the air bag light coming on until after they fixed the air bag. The air bag light stays on all the time along with a check engine light. Also I’ve had to replace the whole transmission in 2019. In 2018 my engine cracked and I had to replace it with another engine. Currently the rack and pion went bad. The vehicle will at times steer on its own and sometimes the steering wheel won’t turn. I’ve spent thousands of dollars over the past few years. I do not believe Honda put in the air bags correctly. I barely had driven my car anywhere and I should not be having these types of problems. It’s a safety hazard.

Hood safety latches both failed, causing hood to slam into windshield breaking windshield & denting hood. Various electrical issue, battery issue. Alternator issues that haven been tested to be working but don't work in car. Coolant system loses pressure & over heats, no leaks, no blown head gaskets. Battery, starter & alternator all good but car will not start. Everything has power but will not turn over. Over 3,000 dollars I have spent fixing numerous factory issues that have broken or simply failed. 400$ for need windshield & dent removal from defective locking device. Soon as I fix something on my car, something else breaks. 2005 civic 1.7l automatic 126,700 miles. I have roughly 50K miles less on original engine than most & I've been having issue since I bought it at 121,100 miles. Nothing but pouring money into a car that should run with zero problems.

TRUNK LID LATCH MALFUNCTION. LID DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY CAUSING IT TO OPEN WHEN SEATS & WINDOWS ARE DOWN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. SRS INTERNAL UNIT FAILURE AT 79K MILES. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR ON MONDAY, AUGUST 3RD THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING WENT WELL AND THAT THEY HAD ALSO PERFORMED A "COMPLIMENTARY INSPECTION" OF MY TIRES, BREAKS, FLUIDS ETC. -- SOMETHING THEY NEVER INFORMED ME THEY PLANNED ON DOING, SOMETHING I WOULD HAVE NEVER CONSENTED TO IN THE FIRST PLACE. THEY ALSO FAILED TO INFORM ME THAT MY SRS LIGHT WAS NOW ON, AND WHAT THAT MEANS. I PULLED OVER ON MY WAY HOME TO CALL AND INQUIRE ABOUT THE LIGHT AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIT ME IN UNTIL THURSDAY, AUGUST 6TH TO DIAGNOSE IT. DRIVING HOME, MY CAR BEGAN SHAKING AND RATTLING AND BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE NEAREST AVAILABLE MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THE LUG NUTS ON THE FRONT LEFT TIRE WERE NOT SECURED PROPERLY BY THE TECHNICIANS AT HONDA OF KINGSTON, AND IT WAS CLOSE TO FALLING OFF. THEY FIXED AND SECURED THE TIRE FOR ME AND I NOTIFIED HONDA OF THE INCIDENT. THEY AGREED TO PAY THE COST OF SECURING THE TIRE, HOWEVER THEY INFORMED ME THAT DIAGNOSING MY SRS LIGHT WILL COST ME $107, AND DEPENDING ON WHAT THE ISSUE IS, COULD COST A FEW HUNDRED TO A THOUSAND MORE. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM OR THE SRS LIGHT, UNTIL IT WAS SERVICED BY HONDA OF KINGSTON. THE SRS LIGHT OBVIOUSLY INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG RECALL WORK WAS NOT PERFORMED CORRECTLY, AND NOW THE DEALER IS ATTEMPTING TO CHARGE ME TO REPAIR IT. THIS CAR HAS A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. UNKNOWN TO ME, IT CAME THAT WAY FROM THE DEALER. A COUPLE HONDA DEALERSHIPS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM. IT FIRST STARTED SLIPPING AROUND 40,000 MILES. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THIS WAS WHEN THEY TOLD ME OF THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AND THE RECOMMENDED FIXES. THE TRANSMISSION INITIALLY FAILED AT 54,300 MILES. STEVENS CREEK HONDA CLEANED THE TRANSMISSION WITH A SPECIAL DETERGENT AND REPLACED THE FLUID. THEY SAID IF THE PROBLEM CAME UP AGAIN BEFORE 109,000 MILES THEY WOULD HAVE TO ?BURNISH? THE TRANSMISSION. WHAT I DIDN'T REALIZE IS THAT THE DETERGENT CLEANING WAS A ?BAND-AID? FIX SO THAT THE DEALERSHIP COULD AVOID THE MORE COSTLY FIXES THEY WERE OBLIGATED TO PERFORM UNDER THE TERMS OF THE LAWSUIT. THE CAR PERFORMED NORMALLY AGAIN. I WOULD HAVE THE FLUID REPLACED MORE THAT NORMAL DURING SERVICE VISITS. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN AT 154,600 MILES. NOW THEY DON?T WANT TO COVER THE COST BECAUSE IT IS NOW LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, OR COVERED BY THE TERMS OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THIS IS ESSENTIALLY FRAUD. **I AM REPORTING THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAVE NOTICED THE SAME TAIL-LIGHTING FAILURE ON DOZENS OF SEVENTH-GENERATION HONDA CIVICS NOW ON THE ROAD.** MY 2005 HONDA CIVIC 4-DR SEDAN FAILED ITS 2013 VIRGINIA SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE LICENSE-PLATE LIGHT AND TRUNK-LOCATED BRAKE LIGHTS (OF WHICH THERE ARE TWO) WERE NOT WORKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO LANDMARK HONDA OF ALEXANDRIA, VA., AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRING IN THE CAR'S TRUNK WAS BROKEN. THEY SOLDERED THE WIRE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IN FEBRUARY 2014 I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND TOOK THE SEDAN TO MY LOCAL DEALER IN BOSTON, MASS., WHERE I NOW LIVE (HONDA CARS OF BOSTON). THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE SOLDERING HAD FAILED AND THEY REPLACED A TRUNK WIRING HARNESS TO BETTER RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I SPENT APPROXIMATELY $500 BETWEEN THE TWO REPAIR JOBS AT THE TWO HONDA DEALERS. I WOULD DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY AND MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE AND RETURN TO NORMAL. I INVESTIGATED THE MATTER ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME CAR HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE THERMOSTAT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED SO I INTENDED TO BUY A NEW ONE. THEN WHEN I WOULD HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD MY ELECTRONICS WOULD MALFUNCTION. THE RADIO (NOT CD) WOULD TURN OFF. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN IN BACK ON. THEN ON 10/23/2011 I MERGED ONTO THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ACCELERATING NORMALLY. THERE WAS TRAFFIC SO I COULD NOT ACCELERATE VERY FAST. THAT IS WHEN MY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BEGAN TO COMPLETELY FAIL. THE DASH ALARMS WOULD BLINK ON AND OFF, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. THE CAR JERKED FORWARD A FEW TIMES. THAT'S WHEN I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY. I NOTICED SMOKE RISING FROM THE HOOD. THEN IT GREW INTO A FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO ESCAPE THE CABIN OF THE CAR. I COULDN'T EXIT FROM THE DRIVER SIDE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC. I CLIMBED OVER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. AT THIS TIME THE FIRE HAD ENGULFED THE ENGINE AREA AND WAS COMING INTO THE CABIN. I HAD THEM REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT AUTO MECHANIC, THEN HAD IT RE-ALIGNED ONCE MORE TO ANOTHER AUTO MECHANIC. STILL VIBRATES. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC WHO INSTALLED THE REAR STRUTS. 2005 HONDA CIVIC EX AUTOMATIC CHOKE COMES ON EVERY TIME YOU START THE CAR --EVEN IF YOU DON'T NEED IT. AFTER IT COMES ON, YOU CAN'T SHUT IT OFF MANUALLY. NOT ONLY DOES THE CHOKE NEEDLESSLY COME ON, BUT IT COMES ON AT AN RPM THAT IS TOO HIGH. IT NEEDLESSLY BURNS FUEL, BUT ALSO PRESENTS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND CAUSES YOU TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. HONDA IS REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SOLUTION IS THAT THE CHOKE NEEDS TO BE MODIFIED IN THREE WAYS: 1) MANUALLY CHOKE SHUT OFF (WITH HANDLE, ACCELERATOR PEDAL, OR BUTTON), 2) 5TH GEAR DOESN'T DROP RPM SUFFICIENTLY AND CAR DOESN'T GET GOOD GAS MILEAGE, 3) VTECH ENGINE NEEDS TO BE MADE INTO A VTECH-E, SO THAT THE ENGINE GETS BETTER FUEL ECONOMY AT THE SLOWER SPEEDS AND MEET BOTH THE PUBLIC'S AND FEDERAL MILEAGE EXPECTATIONS. HONDA OFFERS VTECH-E, BUT THEY ONLY PROVIDE THIS ENGINE SERIES TO THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO BUY THE DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAM, SUCH AS THAT FOUND IN THE CIVIC SI OR IN SOME ACCORDS. THE SEATS IN THE 2005 HONDA CIVIC EX ARE DANGEROUSLY UNCOMFORTABLE AND POORLY DESIGNED. HONDA GIVES YOU NOTHING MORE THAN A BLOCK OF RUBBER TO SIT ON, WHICH CAUSES SKIN IRRITATION DUE TO A LACK OF HEAT DISSIPATION WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT SEATS ARE TOO FAR FORWARD AND SOMEONE OVER 5'9" IS GOING TO HAVE DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE CAR -- PARTICULARLY WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE LACK OF SPRINGS IN THE FRONT AND REAR SEATS POTENTIALLY CAUSES SPINAL INJURIES, DUE TO ROAD SHOCKS NOT BEING ABSORBED, FOR PEOPLE THAT DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON A DAILY BASIS. 1) SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2005 (NEW), PERIODICALLY THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM KICKS IN FOR NO APPARENT REASON (WHILE I AM BRAKING, OF COURSE). 2) UNDER THE ABOVE SITUATION, AS WELL AS AT OTHER TIMES WHEN THE ANTILOCK BRAKES KICK IN, I CANNOT GET THE ABS TO DISENGAGE NO MATTER WHAT I DO, UNTIL THE CAR HAS REACHED A COMPLETE STOP. 3) INTERMITTENTLY, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, WHEN IT KICKS IN, THE CAR WILL TAKE AN EXCEEDINGLY LONG, VERY VERY EXCEEDINGLY LONG TIME TO STOP. THIS WAS ON SNOWY, WET SLUSHY ROADS. BUT, I WILL TELL YOU WHEN APPROACHING THE INTERSECTIONS AND TURNS, I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN GOING SLOWER WITHOUT BEING AT ALMOST A DEAD STANDSTILL. UNWANTED AND UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING HONDA CIVIC HYBRID CAR ON THE BUCKHORN MOUNTAIN ROAD WEST OF FORT COLLINS COLORADO. THE CAR WAS ONLY STOPPED BY APPLYING BRUTE FORCE WITH ALL MY WEIGHT TO THE BRAKES. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED ON ONE OF THE FEW STRAIGHT STRETCHES ON THIS NARROW, GRAVEL ROAD. THE ENGINE RACED AT ITS HIGHEST SPEED. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF, BEFORE IT CAUGHT FIRE. IT WOULD NOT RETURN TO NORMAL IDLE SPEED, EVEN AFTER I RESTARTED THE ENGINE A COUPLE OF TIME. WE ENDED UP LEAVING THE CAR ON THE ROAD AND IT WAS EVENTUALLY RETURNED TO TOWN. THE SHOP WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SITUATION, BUT I AM WORRIED AFTER READING ABOUT THE TOYOTA PROBLEMS WHICH SOUND SIMILAR. THE SHOP HAS REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR CABLE AND FLOOR MATS, THINKING IT MIGHT BE A SIMILAR SITUATION. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO DRIVE THE CAR OUT OF TOWN INTO THE MOUNTAINS. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE THE PROBLEM SUDDENLY OCCURRED AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT JUST A FEW MILES FURTHER ON THIS ROAD. FROM THE DAY I PURCHASED IT, THE NEEDLE ON THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD PERIODICALLY FLUCTUATE. IT WAS ONLY EVER NOTED ON THE SERVICE REPORTS ONCE. THIS MENTION OCCURRED BEFORE THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED, AND THE ONLY NOTE FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE NEEDLE FINALLY FROZE ON 80MPH IN 12/06. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $80 JUST TO TELL ME THE SPEEDOMETER'S ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THAT IT WOULD COST SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS, AND THAT NONE OF THE WORK WOULD BE WARRANTED, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT HAD BEEN A DOCUMENTED PROBLEM FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE. WHEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THIS EITHER, I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THEIR ONLY OFFER WAS TO PAY FOR THE PARTS, NOT THE LABOR. I TOLD THEM THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. SOME TIME LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL NOTIFYING ME OF A CLASS-ACTION LAW SUIT FILED AGAINST AMERICAN HONDA FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS I'M HAVING WITH MY CAR. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AGAIN AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR TO TRY ONCE MORE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD BE UNABLE TO DO THIS BECAUSE NOT ONLY IS IT AN INCONVENIENT LOSS OF TIME, IT'S ANOTHER $80 I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT THEY'VE TOLD ME BEFORE. TALKING TO AMERICAN HONDA IS AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME. THE SECOND ELECTRICAL ISSUE INVOLVES THE RADIO AND CD PLAYER. I HAD A NEW CD IN ONE DAY WHEN IT SUDDENLY STOPPED PLAYING AND THE DISPLAY FLASHED "HOT", SPITTING THE CD OUT. THE CD ITSELF WAS SO HOT IT MELTED THE TOP PORTION. STILL UNDER WARRANTY, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY ROLLED ME RIGHT ON THROUGH SERVICE, BRUSHING THE PROBLEM OFF AS INSIGNIFICANT. THIS CAR IS A FIRE HAZARD. AT 1:30 PM PST ON 17 FEBRUARY 2006, I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 70 MPH ON CALIFORNIA STATE ROUTE 73 NORTHBOUND, A FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND OPERATING NORMALLY. I USED THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL TO CHANGE LANES, BUT AS I PUSHED THE LEVER, ANOTHER CAR ALREADY IN THE LANE HONKED AT ME AND I WAS UPSET. THEN SUDDENLY, WITHOUT THE KEY MOVING, THE CAR SPONTANEOUSLY SHUT ITSELF COMPLETELY OFF. THE CONSOLE WENT DARK, AND THEN ENGINE FIRST WENT FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL, AND THEN GROUND TO A HALT, SPONTANEOUSLY. THE KEY DIDN'T MOVE. *NM

DT CONTACT STATED THE INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR THE OIL, ENGINE, AND BATTERY CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE HAD HIGH IDLE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO AUTO STOP IN ALL GEARS. ONE COULD TURN RIGHT OR LEFT AND THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF. SHE CONTACTED THE DEALER, THEY DID SOME TYPE OF WORK TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. SHE CONTACTED THE DEALER AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED VEHICLE DID NOT WORK PROPERLY DUE TO DRIVER'S ERROR. ALSO, SHE STATED THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT WILL COME ON AND OFF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DID NOT SHOW THAT THE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AT THIS POINT. *AK
