The light for the air bag came on. I have not been in an accident. But this is the car of my 16 year old daughter. I did some research it looks like once the light come on the air bags may not deploy if in an accident. It is a sensor problem. Thank goodness she has not been in an accident but this is definitely a concern.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2013 Honda Civic. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 113,000. The contact paid for the vehicle in full, and when the Title arrived, it was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 224,000. The contact reached out to the dealer. However, the dealer had not responded.

All lights are on the 2013 Honda Civic LX. I took it to the dealer and turns out to be a faulty VSA Modulator... they quoted me $2000 for labor and parts. After extensive research, noticed many other Hondas in the same generation have the same issue. Should be a recall!

The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer twice for repair; however, the failure remained. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they requested a blueprint of the vehicle's wiring mechanism from the manufacturer. Despite receiving the blueprint and rewiring the vehicle, the mechanic was unable to correct the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure by the contact, but they offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The assembly of the 2013 Honda civic ex was missing the rear bumper impact absorber. The component was not noticed until a collision removed the rear bumper from the car, exposing the interior of the assembly. The omission of the impact absorber in the bumper assembly from the manufacturer directly puts my safety at risk because this part is designed to absorb energy in a collision, and without the part I am more likely to be in a more serious accident. This problem was first noticed by the service shop who had confirmed that the part was missing from the assembly, and that it was a safety feature of the vehicle. The component had only been inspected by the independent service shop. There was no indication of the missing component before the accident

The paint on my civic began to peel after a few years. Honda did repaint some of the panels for free but others were not fixed. It has continued to peel on many other panels. I went to get an estimate on selling my car from a dealer yesterday and was told that the peeling paint was causing over a $1000 in lost resale value.

MY 2013 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN WITH LESS THAN 54,000 MILES ON IT, HAS THE PAINT PEELING PROBLEM AS OUTLINED IN HONDA'S TSB #14-034 WHEREAS THIS MODEL YEAR IS GRANTED A 7 YEAR EXTENSION ON ITS PAINT. HOWEVER, HONDA HAS PUT IN SOME ESCAPE WINDOWS TO GET OUT OF THIS, THE MAIN ONE BEING WHEN YOU ACTUALLY ROLLED THE CAR OFF OF THE DEALERSHIP'S LOT. AFTER TAKING MY CIVIC IN TO HAVE THE PAINT REPAIRED, THEIR DPSM (A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE), WOULD NOT ALLOW IT TO BE FIXED AT THEIR COST. I AM ALMOST 60 YEARS OLD NOW, AND FOR OVER 20 YEARS, I WAS A PROFESSIONAL AND CERTIFIED MECHANIC, AND SERVICE MANAGER AS WELL. I HAD ALSO WORKED ALMOST 6 YEARS IN THE ONLY MERCEDES-BENZ FACTORY LOCATED IN THE U.S. BETWEEN 1980-1990 WHEN IT CLOSED HERE IN OUR AREA OF VIRGINIA. WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, AND THIS OBVIOUS FACTORY PAINT DEFECT, ONE WOULD THINK THAT A COMPANY SUCH AS HONDA, WOULD HONOR THE QUALITY STANDARD OF THEIR PRODUCTS. NOT THE CASE AT ALL HERE. AFTER GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THEIR FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE AT AMERICAN HONDA ON THE TELEPHONE JUST NOW, THEY ARE ONLY WILLING TO COVER ABOUT $850 OF A $3100.00 PAINT JOB. BEING A FORMER MECHANIC AND SERVICE MANAGER WHO HAS WORKED FOR YEARS WITH TSB'S AND SAFETY RECALLS, THIS TRULY ASTOUNDS ME HERE. SWITCHING OVER TO TOYOTAS NOW AFTER 43 YEARS OF BEING A FAITHFUL HONDA CUSTOMER. AS A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, I WOULD STAY CLEAR OF THESE HONDA VEHICLES DUE TO THIS ISSUE, AND IT GOES ACROSS THEIR MANY PRODUCT LINES OVER MANY YEARS TOO. THE HONDA HEAD RESTRAIN IS UNCOMFORTABLE AND CAUSING A DISC BULGE IN MY NECK AT C-5/C-6. BASICALLY, THE HEAD RESTRAINT IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THE HEAD FROM INJURY IN A READ-END COLLISION, HOWEVER I HAVE BEEN INJURED JUST BY SITTING IN THE SEAT. HONDA DOES NOT PROVIDE REPLACEMENT HEAD RESTRAIN OR ADJUSTABLE HEAD RESTRAINT, WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE DRIVER THE OPTION TO HAVE A VERTICAL INSTEAD OF FORWARD TILTED HEAD RESTRAINT/HEAD REST.

DRIVER'S SEAT IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. AFTER DRIVING ONLY A FEW MILES MY BACK AND LEGS BEGIN TO ACHE BECAUSE OF THE POOR SEAT CUSHION DESIGN, THE CONCAVE SEAT BACK WITHOUT ANY LUMBAR SUPPORT, AND THE FORWARD LEANING HEAD RESTRAINT THAT KEEPS ME FROM STRAIGHTENING MY BACK WHILE STILL MAINTAINING CONTACT WITH THE SEAT BACK. I'M TEMPTED TO REMOVE THE HEAD RESTRAINT TO REDUCE THE PAIN SOMEWHAT. NO MANUFACTURER OR DEALERSHIP REPAIRS HAVE BEEN REQUESTED BECAUSE HONDA APPARENTLY DOES NOT SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM THAT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.

Evap system light also comes on at lower temperatures, and sporadically at warmer temperatures. It used to happen only once every couple of weeks, but now it comes on (and eventually turns off again) every day. Throws the codes P0497 - Evaporative Emission System Low Purge Flow and P145C - Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Range/Performance Problem. I've had my purge flow valve replaced, and not even two months later both errors have come back. My mechanic has looked at the car and cannot figure out what's going on, but lots of people online are having the same issue, which makes me think it's not just me.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OVER 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SWITCHED TO LIMP MODE AND DECELERATED TO LESS THAN 15 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PENSKE HONDA (4140 E. 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN). THE DEALER REPLACED FOUR ENGINE CYLINDER HEADS, SPARK PLUGS, AND THE CKR UNIT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

The ABS module is defective. I was told by the auto repair shop that he has been getting a lot of Honda vehicles that have defective ABS modules and that it should have a recall on this vehicle. This is dangerous for my vehicle to be on the road. The auto place is having a hard time finding a replacement part for my car. If this is happening to many other cars this should be a recall.

THE VSA MODULATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE AND PART ARE CURRENTLY WITH A DEALERSHIP [FOR ONE MONTH AT TIME OF MESSAGE] AND SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. THE VSA CONTROLS WHEEL SPIN AND BRAKING ALONG WITH OTHER FUNCTIONS WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE MADE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD. BRAKING WAS NOT THE SAME. THE PART WAS INSPECTED BY DEALERSHIP MECHANIC WHO STATED THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE, THEY COULD NOT WORK ON. AS A RESULT THE PART MUST BE REPLACED. WHEN CAR STARTED ABS, POWER STEERING, AND OTHER WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHTS WOULD OCCASIONALLY TURN OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING.

UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, I HAVE HAD MY CALIPERS AND ROTORS CHANGED 6 TIMES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT'S A HONDA CIVIC DESIGN ISSUE. Intelligent inverter unit need replace, there was a recall on Honda Civics with this problem. "But our civic was not on the recall list, which it should have been no reason was given why it was not, it fit all the recall criteria but was not recalled. Could have broken down on the highway in an unsafe area. Sterling Honda inspected the unit and said it needed to be replaced, which we did at a cost of $2500. Would like to know why it was not recalled. It fit all the recall criteras.

Car gives the following codes: Check Power Steering, Check Brake System, Check ABS, Check VSA, it would turn on and off at random times starting around November 2022, was initially informed that it could be a software update by the local Honda dealer, with a 2-3 hour labor charge to update and it might fix it. Eventually the lights would remain on most of the time and I could now pay for a diagnostic which determined the VSA modulator was defective (Code DTC 121-11). This diagnosis was generated on March 18, 2023, as of this date, July 16, 2023 there is no ETA for the part to arrive but have been informed 9 other VSA modulators have been ordered and I am 6th in line, none have arrived to this particular local Honda parts department. Looking online there appears to be a trend of car owners of 2012-2014 Honda Civics and Honda Accords that have observed their VSA modulators fail. The modulator is only manufactured by Honda and currently it does not appear that there is any viable solution apart from purchasing a new part and programing it to the vehicle by the Honda dealer. From my understanding this component ensures the stability of the vehicle in different terrains and ensures the stability of the vehicle in wet conditions.

My 2013 Honda Civic has just 80000 miles. 4 lights came on recently: ABS, Brakes, Power Steering and VSA lights. I took it to the honda dealership to get it diagnosed. They said it's the VSA modulator that has gone bad and needs replacing. The part is $1500 not including labor. This part is a known problem for civic and accord models and other honda models. My car still drive normal but those lights indicate a huge risk. I would like to get it repaired but the dealer said they don't have that part, it's on back order with no ETA. This means that it is a common problem where everyone is looking for it and supply ran out. Also I was told that Thailand did a recall on this part and honda agreed to the recall. This is a safety issue and many cars out there have same issues at even lower mileage than mine. And my car 80k miles is still very new. Would you please open an investigation and hopefully have honda do a recall on this part asap. Thanks, jeremy

TURNED ON VEHICLE, PUT IN REVERSE BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED SUDDENLY. WHEEL WAS TIGHT AND SHAKY. THE POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE AND ICON ONLY APPEARED AS FAILURE OCCURRED. I PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE. TURNED VEHICLE BACK ON, POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE WAS GONE BUT ICON WAS STILL THERE. I PUT GEAR IN DRIVE, WHEEL STILL TIGHT AND SHAKY AND DROVE FOWARD BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY. HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANICS, THEY SAID I NEED ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNIT. I THEN DROVE IT TO DEALERSHIP TO GET THEIR DIAGNOSIS.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT LET ME USE THE STEERING WHEEL. LUCKILY NOONE WAS NEXT TO ME SO I PUT HAZARAD LIGHT AND MANAGED TO PULL OVER. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE POWER STEERING RETURNED FOR A COUPLE MINUTES ONLY TO TURN OFF AND NOT ALLOW THE STEERING WHEEL TO WORK ANY LONGER.

Car sitting on level ground, driven previous day with no problem. Upon unsuccessfully trying to start car, I smelled strong gasoline odor. I turned off ignition and opened hood and observed nothing unusual. I backed car up enough to get out to check for gas puddle. There was a puddle about 24 inches across of gasoline where car had been parked. I have arranged to have vehicle towed to independent auto repair. Note: gas was leaking from above rear driver's side wheel.

I STARTED MY CAR AND NOTICED A GASOLINE SMELL. DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN. WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING I STEPPED AROUND TO CHECK THE EXHAUST AND NOTICED LIQUID POURING FROM UNDERNEATH MY CAR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE NEAR THE REAR WHEEL. I REALIZED THIS WAS GASOLINE COMING FROM SOMEWHERE NEAR THE GAS TANK. IT ONLY POURED OUT WHEN IT THE CARS IGNITION WAS IN THE THE 2ND POSITION AND RUNNING - MEANING WHILE THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS UNDER PRESSURE. HAVING IT TOWED AT GREAT EXPENSE TO CARMAX. I COULD HAVE DIED HAD I NOT SEEN THIS HUGE LEAK!!!

DRIVING SOUTH THROUGH SALT LAKE CITY FREEWAY, THE CAB FILLED WITH NOXIOUS RAW GAS FUMES, NO WARNING LAMPS ON THE DASH. PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY AND INSPECTED ENGINE, TRUNK, INTERIOR AND UNDER THE CAR FOR A GAS LEAK AND FOUND NOTHING. CONTINUED ON OUR WAY AND RETURNED TO CALIFORNIA, HEADING FOR 29 PALMS VIA KELSO, CALIF. WHEN WE GOT FUMES AGAIN ONLY HEAVIER, COMBINED WITH TIGHTEN FUEL CAP WARNING SCREEN ON DASH. AGAIN INSPECTED CAR, REINSTALLED FUEL CAP SEVERAL TIMES. NO LEAKS DETECTED, AIRED OUT CAR AND GOT THE SAME CONDITION EVERY TIME WE GAINED SIGNIFICANT ALTITUDE. THE NEXT DAY WE REPLACED THE FUEL CAP AND SO FAR NO FLAMMABLE FUMES. THANK GOD NEITHER OF US SMOKE.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,156.

HI, AN EVENT HAPPENED WHERE THE CIVIC WAS NOT STARTED (KEYS WERE IN IGNITION BUT THE CAR WASN'T ACTUALLY STARTED UNBEKNOWNST TO THE DRIVER, AS IT WAS IN A LOUD ENVIRONMENT AND THE CAR IS QUIET WHEN IT IS RUNNING). IT WAS ON A VERY SLIGHT HILL. WHEN THE DRIVER PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, THE CAR REVERSED ALL THE WAY INTO THE STREET AND DIDN'T RESPOND TO BRAKING, NARROWLY MISSING A CAR THAT PASSED. ONCE IT WAS IN THE STREET; IT TOOK TRYING A FEW THINGS TO GET THE CAR TO START AGAIN OR RELEASE THE KEYS. SHOULDN'T THERE BE A SAFETY MECHANISM THAT WOULD PREVENT A CAR FROM REVERSING WHEN IT ISN'T ACTUALLY RUNNING? OR SOMETHING THAR WOULD ALLOW THE BRAKES TO STILL FUNCTION IN AN EVENT LIKE THAT? The airbag light comes on sporadically - almost all of the time when it's cold, and then on/off when it is warmer. Throws the code B0001-13 - Open or Increased Resistance in Driver's Airbag Inflator. Brought it to the dealership and they told me that I needed to get the whole driver's side airbag replaced (to the tune of $1300 dollars). With the plethora of recalls surrounding 2000s to 2010s Civics, I have a hard time believing this shouldn't be covered under some sort of recall, especially with the amount of other people online who have experienced the same issue.

Airbag warning light comes on sporadically. Consistently when it is cold out, all the time after hitting the horn. There is an issue apparently with the driver side airbag inflator which occurs in this model year vehicle that both NHTSA and Honda is ignoring.

Air bag warning comes on intermittently . Has increased to a weekly occurrence. I’ve recorded 27 instances in the last 6 months that this has happened. Occurs when starting car after sitting and also just comes on when driving. Have had seat sensors and seat belt replaced which did nothing. Problem still exists. I am not going to put any more money into an unsafe vehicle. Research shows that this is a common consumer complaint and a safety problem . Airbags for this model were recalled through the 2012 model year. Certainly appears that the 2013 model year should have been included.

TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF MY 2013 CIVIC COUPE, AND HAVE LOVED IT SINCE. HOWEVER, WITHIN THE PAST MONTH, CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM LIGHT HAS COME ON, FIRST TIME DURING THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING GOING STRAIGHT FORWARD AND STAYED ON UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF. IT CONTINUED TO COME ON WHILE DRIVING, AND EVENTUALLY STARTED COMING ON WHEN I FIRST STARTED THE CAR, STATIONARY. IT DOES NOT COME ON EVERY SINGLE TIME, BUT COMES ON VERY VERY FREQUENTLY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND THEY NEED TO RECALL THE PROBLEM. I CALLED TO SEE HOW MUCH HONDA WOULD CHARGE TO FIX IT, AND THEY SAID $140 JUST TO DIAGNOSE, AND MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THE PARTS COSTING UP TO $1300 TO REPAIR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR SOMEONE TO HAVE TO PAY THIS AMOUNT FOR A CAR AND A COMPANY THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST RELIABLE AND TRUSTED BRANDS ON THE MARKET. THE REASON I CHOSE A HONDA CIVIC WAS BECAUSE OF THE LOW RATE OF PROBLEMS, AND THIS IS THE HUGEST PROBLEM THAT CAN OCCUR, A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM, VERY DISAPPOINTED. Wiper blade broke in an explosive fashion upon activating throwing plastic and metal components onto the drive way. Since this was in the drive way the components did not cause any harm to any other property but if this was the high way it is likely the components may have caused damage to other vehicles or motorcyclists. Wiper blade was purchased new 3 weeks prior to incident on 10-03-2023 and failed on 10-26-2023, in this time frame the vehicle had not been used frequently as it was having multiple parts repaired so the part should not have much wear and tear. The wiper blade is saved and available to test, it broke into 7 separate pieces in an explosive fashion including 2 metal wires, blade backing broke into 2 pieces, component that holds blade to mechanism broke to two pieces and a single rubber blade. Mechanism that holds blade in place was left in a jagged state. Concern was that if blade was allowed to continue operating it may have caused damage to glass. There are no warnings and component has not been notified to manufacturer yet but I will look into contacting manufacturer after completing this report during their next business hours.

NO INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED, YET. THIS IS A WARNING TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS. HONDA HAS MOVED THE POSITION OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE SIDE-VIEW MIRROR FROM WHAT IT WAS ON MY PREVIOUS 2000 YEAR MODEL. THE CURRENT POSITION MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE TRAFFIC APPROACHING THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR, EVEN WHEN THE MIRROR IS ADJUSTED AS FAR TO THE SIDE AS POSSIBLE. I PURCHASED A USED 2013 CIVIC SEDAN FROM A PRIVATE SELLER ON MARCH 23RD 2018. THE DAY I BOUGHT IT, AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT OF THE CREDIT UNION WHERE I MET THE SELLER THE POWER STEERING FAILED. A YELLOW WARNING LIGHT THAT LOOKS LIKE A STEERING WHEEL WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT CAME ON ON THE DASH, AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I PUT IT IN PARK, HIT THE HAZARDS AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR FEAR OF HITTING SOMEONE. I CONTACTED THE SELLERS AND THEY CAME BACK. WE DISCUSSED HAVING IT TOWED TO THE SHOP, AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER GOT IN IT, TO RE-PARK IT SOMEWHERE MORE OUT OF THE WAY WHILE WE WAITED FOR AAA. AT THIS TIME, THE CAR STARTED UP FINE, NO WARNING LIGHT WAS PRESENT AND HE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE IT INTO A PARKING SPOT. HE SUGGESTED THAT HE JUST DRIVE IT TO THE SHOP, AND I RIDE OVER THERE WITH HIS WIFE. SO WE DID, AND THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AT THE SHOP, AND INFORMED ME THAT IT DIDN'T THROW ANY CODES, AND THAT "THE COMPUTER DOESN'T LIE" THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE IT DROVE OVER THERE FINE, TO JUST TAKE IT HOME, AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. SO I DID, AND I DROVE IT AROUND FOR A COUPLE WEEKS UNTIL ON THE 5TH OF APRIL, AGAIN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IT HAPPENED AGAIN, YELLOW STEERING WHEEL LIGHT AND ALL. EXCEPT THIS TIME THE BRAKES FAILED TOO. NOT ONLY COULD I NOT STEER, I COULD NOT STOP. I ENDED UP DRAGGING THE FRONT END OVER A FLOWERBED WITH A CURB, AND RIPPING OFF THE BUMPER. THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND IS NOW AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP AWAITING REPAIRS PENDING PROCESSING OF WARRANTY PAPERWORK. PURCHASED A 2013 HONDA CIVIC ON 08/31/13. ON 09/02/13 CAR HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO CULVER CITY DEALERSHIP. WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM CURB WHEEL FELT HEAVY AND THE CONSOLE LIT UP WITH RED, ORGAN AND YELLOW LIGHTS, INDICATING THAT THE POWER STEERING AND BREAKS NEEDED TO BE CHECKED AND LOW OIL PRESSURE. MY SON AND I WERE GOING DOWN HILL AND PICKING UP SPEED WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BREAKS. HE CONTINUED TO PUMP THE BREAKS BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, HE FINALLY PULLED THE EMERGENCY BREAK AND TURNED THE WHEEL EXTREMELY HARD INTO THE CURB. CAME THREE FEET FROM HITTING A PARKED BMW.

The driver seatbelt, the portion that accepts the buckle when you "buckle up" has become sloppy over time with excessive free play. This part is free to wobble around. I feel this is a passenger safety risk. The restraint and crash systems in a car work together, and with excessive ship and play in the restraint system, it could experience unexpected forces leading to an interesting or improperly restrained driver. I have spoken to two dealership service departments and neither of them actually inspected the seatbelt, I was only told it would not be replaced under warranty. I told them it is a safety issue, but they do not budge. The seatbelt was inspected by my mechanic who said the part would need replaced, saying there is excessive slop and play in the restraint system. No warning lamps or codes, airbags have never deployed, clean title. Going back to Honda dealer tomorrow to have them actually inspect the restaurant system and put in writing that they aren't willing to replace or repair it, when I went yesterday, neither of the two dealership service departments even visually inspected my seatbelt.

The lugnuts on the driver’s side front wheel must have become loose somehow. I was driving along and noticed a strange thumping sound. Before I could pull over the wheel became detached and was rolling away. I pulled off safely and called a tow truck. The tires were last rotated by Annapolis Honda 6 months prior to the date of the accident (11.4.25). The damage estimate – the front brakes and rotors need to be replaced. Also body damage to the front left quarter-panel and front bumper. Likely at least $4,000 in total costs. There were no warning lights, the vehicle was repaired at AAA car care center in Annapolis, MD and Caliber Collision in Edgewater, MD.

I STARTED GETTING A NOTICE TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE. I CHECKED IT AND THEN NEXT DAY MY CAR WAS PARKED ALL DAY, THE FOLLOWING DAY I WENT TO MY CAR TO DRIVE TO MY MOM'S 50 MILES AWAY, THE NOTICE TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE CAME ON AGAIN, I STOPPED AND MY BACK PASSENGER TIRE WAS ALMOST FLAT. IT WAS SUNDAY AND THE ONLY PLACE OPEN WAS WALMART AUTOMOTIVE DEPT. THEY TOOK TIRE OFF TO FIX IT AND FOUND THAT TIRE'S SIDEWALL HAD BLOWN OUT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REPAIR THE TIRE. The electric power steering pump is failing while driving my vehicle. When driving the vehicle, if I make a turn any way, than my vehicle shuts off and locks up completely causing me to not be able to go or move without turning the vehicle off and on quickly to get out of the way. It has caused me to almost get rear ended as well. I have spoke to mechanics at multiple shops and even Spoke to honda world about it; who advised me to take the steps of looking into a recall or submitting an incident report to make a claim.

I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment regarding the ongoing VSA/ABS module failure in my 2013 Honda Civic Si. This issue, common among Honda vehicles from 2013–2017, has caused significant stress, both financially and emotionally. The ABS module in my vehicle has malfunctioned, affecting the vehicle’s anti-lock braking and stability assist systems. This is a serious safety concern, as the failure could impair the car’s ability to brake effectively, especially in adverse driving conditions. The failure of this critical component puts my safety, and the safety of others, at risk.I took my car to two separate service centers, a certified Honda dealer and a Honda tuner shop, both of which confirmed the ABS module failure. They quoted over $2,200 for installation and reprogramming of a new module, which itself costs approximately $1,800. The car has had recurring ABS and VSA warning lights for several weeks prior to the issue becoming critical, and I was not informed by Honda about any recalls or known issues with the module. But this is common. As a loyal Honda customer, I am extremely disappointed that I have to shoulder the cost of what seems to be a widespread design flaw. I am requesting that Honda take responsibility for this issue and assist in covering the repair costs, as this is not an isolated problem but a defect in vehicles from this generation.

Warning lights appeared on my dashboard one morning. I took it to a honda dealer in frisco tx and they advised that my VSA module that controls my ABS system has failed. They advised the part is on back order and could not provide any repairs due to that. Currently my ABS system does not function due to the the failed part that Honda can not replace. They also would not provide repairs even I could source a used part.

The component that has failed is the abs modulator system. The problem with the abs modulator failing on me puts me and my family at great risk including death because the abs modulator works alongside with the brakes, power steering and the vsa system all of which are the main components to a cars safety. Yes I have take my Honda to a certified technician who informed me that the and modulator has gone bad and will need to be replaced immediately due my safety alongside everyone who is on the road. Lastly when I first purchased the car everything my worked fine and their were no problems whatsoever until one day I was driving down the road and suddenly the abs light, power steering light, vsa light, and brake light all turned on which led to my car having horrible performance alongside my brakes feeling sloppy as well as my steering literally moving even though I was going straight. Overall I hope that you will finally do something about this problem because it is very frustrating.

There are four lights with a warning that shows up and stay on Check Brake, Power Steering, ABS and VBS Systems. These four lights occurs immediately or even occasionally delayed but they appear everytime my vehicle is running. It is the VSA System per service repair shop. This is a known problem for the Honda Civic 2013 and also Honda Accord. My concern is when these lights are present there is a safety hazard issue. A recall should HAPPEN. My thorough research shows that it should’ve been a recall in the USA for vehicles in 2012-2013 regarding an expansion of VSA Non-compliance Recall: 2012-2013 Honda Fit done free of charge. This article was July 23, 2013 and it was a little over 48,000 vehicles. They all qualified for a repair if indicated. The repairs happened in Thailand but not USA. The repairs are very, very costly. I’m the only owner of my vehicle and purchased new.

Traveling down Interstate 49 in Arkansas. Hit a patch of "chicken byproduct" that was spilled on the highway. My car fishtailed. VSA module out of service. Did a vehicle diagnostic scan on it. Scanner said VSA module malfunctioning. No ABS past 30 mph. Took vehicle to shop. They said VSA module needed to be replaced. VSA is suppose to be a safety mechanism in the 2013 Honda Civic. I have read that I am not the only owner to have this problem. Should be a recall. They are expensive to replace.

I was driving 35 MPH toward a busy intersection when I lost my brakes and power. A service message “IMA CHECK SYSTEMS” light lit up on the dash. I lost brakes and power while entering an intersection putting myself and other drivers in danger of an accident narrowly missing a container truck. The car shut off with my front end in the intersection. I was able to restart the car and drive it to the nearest garage. They connected the code machine to the vehicle showing “P1437.” I then had my car towed to the nearest Honda dealership. They told me my VIN was not listed under service bulletin 20-030 even though my car fit all of the parameters and showed the same code(s). After giving me a quote of $1900+ to fix the issue, they are claiming to have fixed the problem but I am questioning if the real issues were fixed and if I am responsible for any costs.

The hybrid motor DC to DC convert failed. When this fails it stops providing 12 V power to the rest of the vehicle resulting in multiple systems stopping or working very slowly. This vehicle does not have a traditional alternator. There was a TSB and an extended warranty offered to some models, but not all included in the VIN range for this vehicle. The vehicle was scanned and pulls the same codes as the TSB notes as the issue.

Several warning lights on the dashboard illuminated: powersteering warning, ABS system warning, VSA warning. We had to pay almost $300 for dealer diagnostics which advised our ABS VSA module must be replaced, reprogrammed and brake fluid bleed otherwise our ABS brake system would fail. There are hundreds of similar complaints on-line of Honda owners with the exact issue costing over $3000 to make the repair. It will cost us almost $2600 for the repair. This appears to be a defect in Honda's VSA Module circuitboard across several models (Accord, Civic).

Took to dealer cleared sensors. A matter of days alarms going off again. Call dealer they want to keep vehicle for diagnostic. When they did diagnostic it was another problem. They repair guy also mentioned not to apply E-brake. He said their is a possibility that it may completely lock. I will be taking vehicle to another dealership for 2nd opinion.

The VSA modulator is a known issue from honda. Mine went out while going down the highway. So many have gone bad recently that the modular is hard to get due to backorder. Warning lamps: Check brake system, Check ABS system, Check VSA & Check Power Steering. First three were one after another. Check power steering was about 10 seconds after the others.

Put the car into reverse, backed up, put the car into drive, applied pressure to the gas peddle, then car then jerked, shook, had to pull over to let car rest, drove slow back home. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN AS MANY MONTHS, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR WHEN SUDDENLY THE VSA WARMING LIGHT HAS COME ON, FOLLOWED BY THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WARNING LIGHT. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED, I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX AND CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR MY CIVIC FOR ANY INFORMATION. IT SUGGESTED THAT I WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES AND THE RESTART THE CAR. I WAITED FOR 10 MINUTES AND RESTARTED MY CAR. BOTH LIGHTS HAD GONE OUT AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE LOCAL CARMAX DEALER, WHERE I'D PURCHASED THIS CAR. THE SERVICE CENTER COULD NOT LOOK AT MY CAR THEN, BUT THE TECHNICIAN SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME FOR THE NEXT MONDAY AND REASSURED ME THAT I WOULD "PROBABLY" BE FINE UNTIL THEN. WHEN THAT DAY CAME I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WOULD NEED TO BE LOOKED AT BY AN AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER, AUTONATION HONDA, BUT THAT CARMAX WOULD COVER THE COST BECAUSE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER THEIR LIMITED WARRANTY. DAYS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR TO AUTONATION AND THEY UPDATED THE VEHICLE'S SOFTWARE FOR THE VSA. TODAY, OCTOBER 22, 2017, I WAS DRIVING TO VISIT FAMILY WHEN THE VSA LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WARNING LIGHT. ONCE AGAIN, I PULLED OVER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR 10 MINUTES. THE AIR CONDITIONER MOTOR AND RESISTOR IN MY CAR HAVE BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES NOW. EVERY FOUR MONTHS, THE AIR CONDITIONER MAKES SOUNDS, FLUCTUATES IN POWER, AND THEN FINALLY STOPS WORKING ALTOGTHER. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH STILL WORK, BUT THE AIR STOPS BLOWING. ONCE MOTOR AND RESISTOR ARE REPLACED, IT WORKS FINE AGAIN - BUT ONLY FOR A FEW MONTHS. ALL NEW PARTS HAVE BEEN ORDERED DIRECTLY THROUGH HONDA. THE DEFROSTER AND HEAT WILL NOT WORK EITHER WHEN THIS PART GOES BAD, WHICH IS DANGEROUS IF DRIVING IN THE RAIN OR IN THE COLD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A WARNING INDICATOR RANDOMLY KEPT FLASHING TO CHECK THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE CONTACT FELT AS IF THEY MISDIAGNOSED PROVIDING A SOLUTION AND REQUIRED THAT BRAKE REPAIRS BE COMPLETED BEFORE SERVICING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE FIRST REPAIR FROM THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE ABS INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED, BUT THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR. THE DEALER CLEANED THE REAR BRAKES AND ADJUSTED THE REAR BRAKES DURING THE FIRST REPAIR. DURING THE SECOND REPAIR, THE DEALER REPLACED AND RESURFACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE BRAKE FLUID EXCHANGE WAS SERVICED AS WELL. TWO DAYS AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE SERVICE AIR BAGS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE A THIRD TIME AND INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP, BUT THE CONTACT RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I HAD A TOTAL HUB FAILURE. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 9MPH IN A PARKING LOT MAKING A SLIGHT TURN WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. I HAD TO HAVE THE MECHANIC REPLACE THE KNUCKLE, HUB, BEARING, CALIPER AND BRACKET ALONG WITH ABS SENSOR. IF I WOULD'VE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY IT WOULD'VE BEEN REALLY BAD. ON THURSDAY OUR AC STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR. I CONTACTED A HONDA SERVICE REP AND THEY MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE UPCOMING MONDAY. THIS LETTER IS TO INFORM YOU ABOUT A SEVERE MALFUNCTION THAT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I WAS TRAUMATIZED BY A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WITH MY 2013 HONDA CIVIC. LUCKILY NO ONE GOT HURT IN THIS EVENT, BUT I?M HOPING THAT THIS FACT WILL NOT REDUCE THE ATTENTION FROM THIS SEVERE MALFUNCTION. FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE EVENT THAT HAPPENED ON MAY 10, 2014 AT 6:30PM: I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY, UNDER 5 MILES PER HOUR, APPROACHING A PARKING NEAR THE SIDEWAYS. THERE WAS ONE CAR ALREADY PARKED, AND I WAS GOING TO PARK BEHIND IT. I WAS ABOUT TO COMPLETE MY PARKING, AND MY LEG WAS GENTLY APPLYING THE BRAKES (I WAS ALMOST AT A COMPLETE HALT). SUDDENLY, THE CAR MADE A VERY LOUD NOISE AS IF SOMEONE PRESSED ON THE GAS ALL THE WAY (IT WAS AN AWFUL NOISE), AND THEN IT SHOT ITSELF FORWARD AT A CRAZY SPEED. AS THE CAR DROVE ITSELF INTO THE PARKED CAR IN FRONT, I PULLED THE HANDBRAKE AND PRESSED HARDER ON THE BREAKS IN THE SPLIT SECOND THAT I HAD TO REALIZE SOMETHING IS WRONG. SINCE I WAS AT A VERY LOW SPEED, THE IMPACT DIDN'T DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS. THE PARKED CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED THE CAR FROM GOING FORWARD UNCONTROLLABLY. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. AT THIS POINT THE CARS ENGINE DECREASED THE RPM BACK TO NORMAL, AND THE CAR STOPPED PUSHING ITSELF FORWARD, THOUGH AT THAT POINT I ALREADY DEPLOYED THE HAND BRAKE. *TR

ON APRIL 23, 2014 AT ABOUT 4:40 P. M. MY SON WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHICH IS 5 MILES UNDER THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT FOR THAT AREA WHERE HE LIVES. THE ROAD LEADING TO THE BACK ENTRANCE OF HIS HOUSING COMPLEX IS A SINGLE ONE-WAY LANE WITH A WIDE BICYCLE LANE. THIS ROADWAY CURVES SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT LEADING INTO THE ENTRANCE OF HIS HOUSING COMPLEX. ON APPROACHING THE END OF THE ROAD MY SON TOOK HIS FOOT OF THE GAS TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE, TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT (AS THE ROAD CURVES NATURALLY TO THE LEFT) THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND STEERED TO THE RIGHT. MY SON TRIED VERY HARD TO PULL THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO CORRECT THE STEERING BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE STEERED UNCONTROLLABLY TO THE RIGHT, JUMPING THE CONCRETE CURB AND STUCK A CONCRETE STREET LIGHT POLE, FLIPPED OVER AND LANDED A FEW FEET AWAY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WITH FIVE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. (ONE ON THE STEERING WHEEL, AND FOUR OVER THE DOORS). HE WAS EXAMINED BY PARAMEDIC'S ON THE SCENE AND LATER OBSERVED SEVERE BRUISING ON HIS ABDOMEN AND NECK WHICH REQUIRED FURTHER MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AND DECLARED A TOTAL LOST BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR

SEVERE MOTION SICKNESS WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE; THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A "SMALL CAR" PROBLEM BUT IT WAS PERSISTENT ALL THE WAY TO CHICAGO AND BACK TO SAN FRANCISCO. BASICALLY, A ROLLER COASTER RIDE AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS AND SUSPECT THAT IT IS A FAULTY SUSPENSION DESIGN. ENGINE (WOULD STALL AND THEN QUICKLY ACCELERATE PROBLEM) AND DRIVER WIPED OUT AFTER ABOUT EIGHT THOUSAND MILES. THE SEAT DESIGN IS EXTREMELY POOR AND CAUSES PINCHED NERVES FOR PASSENGER AND DRIVER. MAYBE THE CAR IS JUST GOOD FOR LOCAL SHORT DRIVES AND THE YOUNGER CROWD...WAS SUPPOSED TO GET MY OLD, TRADE-IN VEHICLE BACK BUT HONDA SERVICE RAN OFF WITH THE CAR AND I SOLD IT ON EBAY/PAYPAL BUT GOT ENTANGLED IN MORE FRAUD (VARIOUS LOAN FRAUDS BY HONDA AND THEN THE EBAY BUYER RAN A SCAM AND NEVER PAID FOR THE CAR ACCORDING TO PAYPAL).
