The contact owns a 2014 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

In a Honda CVT when the filter becomes clogged, pressure will build and the fill cap will come off the transmission on its own to relieve the pressure. There is no warning indication system to tell you when it happens but it seems to be a persistent issue in their CVTs. after the cap blows off fluid will start leaking on the casing and dirt and other contaminates will make their way into the transmission. This poses a massive safety issue as it can cause the transmission to lock up. When going to use professional service websites such as pro-demand and all data Honda gives no information about this issue or even how to fix it.

The transmission does not shift good at city speeds. It is jerky/grabby and It is prematurely wearing fluid down (burnt with only 19k since last change) It is miserable to drive due to the constant grabbing and releasing when you coast then apply gas. I fear it will lock up or fail which could lead to an accident.

My 2014 Honda Civic LX was leaking fluid. Took it as soon as possible to a shop to get it inspected. On the drive there the car was revving but not accelerating, the shop told me transmission filler cap had popped off and was laying next to the hole and to take it to a transmission shop. Towed it to a transmission shop where they reproduced the accelerating issue and also found excessive metal in the transmission fluid to the point a magnet could stick on the aluminum transmission pan. They believe it was due to high pressure in the CVT that pushed the cap out and then caused the sensor to leak as well. They recommended to completely replace the whole transmission because of so much internal damage to the transmission and to not drive it. They said the rest of the car was in perfect condition, nothing wrong with the engine, oil, etc. only the transmission.

Air bag light came on like 1 year ago. I had the dealership do the diagnostic on the car. They said it was cable relay. They said estimate to repair was over $2000. I have contacted Honda Goodwill department and after several emails and phone calls they gave me an option to pay $100 and they cover the rest. I have agreed. They have replaced cable relay and everything was fine. About a month later the airbag light came back on. I went to the dealership for diagnostics and they said that its the driver side airbag that is defective and that they recommended it to be replaced. Cost with labor $1100. I wrote to Honda Goodwill again but the said they only did a one time courtesy and that i am responsible for the future expenses. The car has never been in an accident and its not my fault that there is an airbag issue. Im afraid of my and my family’s safety when i drive the car. Please help.

The car crashed into the back of the truck in front of it. The crash caused the airbag to go off and either the airbag itself or the area that covers the steering wheel cut my wife’s jaw/throat. She was luck it did not cut her artery or wind pipe she was able to be transported to the hospital and survived.

While I was driving, a truck hit me from behind causing a 5 car accident. My car was unable to be driven from the scene. The radiator and front collision bar are very bent in, however my airbags did not deploy. The truck was going 60 mph when it hit me hard enough to cause another 3 cars to have damage. This is a potential issue for others and currently I have very bad neck and head pain from the accident. My car had a warning screen saying “check airbag system” after the accident.

Drive shaft front axel is rusted and broke in the middle, not by joint. I see there are recalls for this model, but not under my vin number. The way it broke is not how it would normally break. Which is giving me concern it is a faulty product from being built or if it was replaced due to a previous recall

November 1,2024, as I was about to pull into traffic at an intersection my car would not let me accelerate. The engine was still on but I could not use the gas. I could steer. Luckily I was on an incline where I could coast down the hill and turn into a Lowe's parking lot to wait for a tow truck. It turns out my axle broke. They said there was no damage other than a rubber gasket rotted. There was no warning whatsoever. No unusual sounds or anything else. The car was running perfect for about about a half an hour hour that morning before this happened. My car has just over 50,000 miles on it. There was no other damage to the axle – I had not ran over anything or damaged it in any other way. It was just the rubber gasket according to the Honda dealer. I paid almost $800 for the repair – with a coupon!

Brake System, Power Steering System, ABS System, VSA System, and Hill Start Assist System lights randomly turn on all at the same time. This causes the car to jerk and have problems accelerating. Turning the steering wheel makes noises below the car. I've taken it to an independent service (shop) three times and they can't find out what is wrong. They have already refreshed the codes and checked the sensors. I changed tires and took it to auto zone, but shows no signs of any problems. The fact that it randomly turns on and starts causing all these problems, makes it hard and risky to drive anywhere. I've already had to tow it once because the jerking got so bad that pressing on the gas would not even drive/accelerate. Luckily there were not many cars near me and I was able to get far enough to find a safe place to park. I've read my blogs with people having the same problems. All have not been able to diagnose the problems and that's why they've turned to the blogs. Not knowing when these system warning lights will turn on makes it unpredictable to drive, diagnose, and fix.

On March 31, 2023 while driving on I 10 from Gulfport, Ms towards Diamondhead, Ms the glass sunroof exploded for no expiable reason. I observed no discernible reason for the glass sunroof failure. Other than being startled at the loud noise, and spending $ 480 for a replacement glass sun roof, there is nothing else to add. The loud noise might cause some drivers to loose control, and traffic safely might be affected. I called a Honda dealer, explained my circumstance, they ran my vin, and there was no recall. The glass failure is in the comprehensive insurance bucket, and with my deductible, the loss was an out of pocket expense. I used Dunaway Glass in Gulfport, Ms for glass sunroof replacement. I think think they were replacing a Honda glass sunroof the day I called to make the appointment, and my sunroof glass was one of two glass sunroofs ordered together. Please verify my recollection with Dunaway. There was no warning, in any manner, at all. The glass exploded and caused me to become distracted, there was no subsequent accident.

While driving at high speed on the freeway at 65mph, my Honda Civic Hybrid experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure of the hybrid battery control module (IPU/MCM). This happened without any warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms. The hybrid system instantly shut down, causing a dramatic loss of power and forcing me to pull off the road in high-speed traffic. This placed me and other drivers at serious risk of a high-speed collision due to the abrupt power loss and inability to accelerate. The failed component is still installed and available for inspection. The issue has since been diagnosed and confirmed by an independent hybrid specialist, who identified the malfunctioning IPU. I was told this exact failure is covered by Honda Service Bulletin 20-030, which extends the warranty for affected Civic Hybrids to 10 years or 150,000 miles, however, my VIN is not included, despite the failure being identical in nature. Honda has refused to provide any assistance, stating that only specific VINs are eligible, which I believe is misleading and unjust. This defect is clearly broader than the TSB acknowledges. The sudden failure of a critical propulsion system at high speed without warning is a major safety hazard and should not be limited by an arbitrarily narrow VIN list. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue and require Honda to expand the scope of TSB 20-030. This defect compromises driver safety and has caused me significant financial and emotional stress, not to mention the danger it poses to others on the road. This is not an isolated incident. Many other Honda Civic Hybrid owners have reported the exact same issue, sudden IPU failure, no warnings, dangerous loss of power, on public forums and complaint databases. The narrow VIN range in TSB 20-030 is artificially limited and fails to reflect the true scope of the defect.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition lock cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts being on backorder. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND SUDDENLY HEAR A WHIRRING NOISE. I'M SURE I DIDN'T HIT A BUMP OR POTHOLE AT THE TIME. THE WHIRRING KEPT GOING AS I WAS TRYING TO GET CLOSER TO MY HOME, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STARTED WOBBLING FROM BACK AND FORTH. I TRIED TO MAKE IT AS CLOSE TO HOME AS I COULD, BUT WHEN I FINALLY PULLED OVER, I SAW THE TIRE COMPLETELY EXPLODED AND WAS TORN OFF THE CAR, SO I WAS BASICALLY RIDING ON THE RIM. THE TIRE TIRE OFF MY FENDER LINER AS WELL.

THE FRONT DRIVER TIRE HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN A YEAR. THE FIRST TIME IT EXPLODED ON MY WIFE IN THE FREEWAY. THE SECOND TIME IT KEEPS GOING FLAT AND WE KEEP ON PUTTING AIR. THE TIRES ARE NEW AND WE ROTATE IT WHEN DUE. THE INTERESTING PART IS THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS ON THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE AND WHEN WE ROTATE IT, THE PROBLEM IS STILL ON THE SAME SPOT. THIS HAD BEEN A PROBLEM AND WE GOT THIS CAR NEW. HONDA STATES AI MEED AND ALIGNMENT WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT IT THERE FOR OIL CHANGE. CAR HAS 5000 MILES AND MY WIFE DRIVES IT.

TPMS DASHBOARD WARNING MESSAGE. AFTER EVERY SIX MILES THE SCREEN HAS A TPMS WARNING MESSAGE. TIRE PRESSURE IS CORRECT. ALIGNMENT IS CORRECT. AFTER RESETTING THE TPMS TO RECALIBRATE, THE MESSAGE TURNS ON AGAIN.

BEGINNING THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT HAS COME ON AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES A MONTH. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO A HONDA DEALER FOR SERVICE EACH TIME TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE, WHICH HAS 98% OF THE TIME BEEN FINE. THEY HAVE DONE 2 COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPGRADES, THE FIRST OF WHICH SEEMED TO HELP FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT THEN IT CAME BACK ON; THE 2ND TIME IT WAS UPGRADED, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY. I RECENTLY LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALER FOR 8 HOURS AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, BUT SAID IT WAS A SMALL DISCREPANCY IN THE TREAD OF THE TIRES - ONE TIRE HAD 4/32 OF A TREAD AND THE OTHERS HAD 5/32. HOWEVER, SINCE THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE TIRES WERE THEN NEW, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE PROBLEM. IN OTHER WORDS, THEY HAVE NO EXPLANATION AND NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM.

Continental P 195/65 R 15. 89 H. The tire blew and the side wall on the outside on the passenger side front. It looks shredded on the side- not a normal blown tire look. We were in the right lane on a 3 lane highway so we were able to get off as soon as it blew. Our safety was at risk because we had to change tire on the side of a busy 3 lane highway and it was late on a sunday night so nothing was open to replace and had to drive 70 miles back home on a donut. It could've caused an accident. No known issues/warnings/messages/etc. I will never buy another Continental again.

Driver rear p 195/65 r 15 continental conti pro contact tire had an unexpected blow out. Driver was on the highway driving at highway speed. Did not hit anything. Did not run over anything. Tire pressure light came on and immediately tire blew. Incident happened in less than 5 seconds. Tire blow out happened on 8-4-2023. Current mileage on car 85818. Tires purchased 2-17-2023 at a mileage of 80124.

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Civic equipped with Continental Tires. Tire Line: ExtremeContact DWS06, Tire Size: 225/40R/18, and DOT Number was unavailable. The contact stated while driving approximately 68 MPH, she noticed abnormal loud intense vibrations and banging sounds. The contact noticed that the front driver's side tire had separated and was bouncing across lanes. The message "Check Tire Pressure" was displayed. The contact was able to remain in control of the vehicle and veered off to the side of the road. The contact stated upon inspecting the damaged tire, she noticed that the entire tire tread had separated from the side wall in a perfect circle. The vehicle was towed to a tire mechanic, where the tire was replaced with a spare tire. The tire manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the tire to a licensed tire dealer for evaluation and they would then review the dealer's diagnostic report. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The failure mileage of the vehicle was approximately 86,000.

Out of nowhere today started my car to go to work and it’s leaking fuel from the fuel pump area, only when it is running, pouring out fuel, I seen that some 2014 Honda Civic’s have a recall for fuel pump manufactured between January 2014 through November 2014 and mine was manufactured in February 2014 and I have this fuel pump leak issue, no recalls come up when I enter my VIN, but this has to be one of them, would only make sense.

I was driving towards freeway and when merging into the lane, my car shut off. Fortunately it was very busy and full of cars on the freeway that I was able to start up my car yet frightening since we had 4 people in the car which included my mother. Later within 30 minutes we were at s traffic light waiting to go forward and the engine shut off again. It was a warm day around 60 degrees. Why is my car doing this? Taking to shop to hopefully fix this problem.

MY CAR HAS 41K MILES ON IT. WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE A/C SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND HOT AIR WAS BLOWING. I ALSO HEARD A RUMBLING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC A DAY LATER, AND AFTER A FULL DAY OF DIAGNOSTICS, THEY DETERMINED THE ENTIRE AC COMPRESSOR UNIT NEEDS REPLACING. THEY COULD NOT FIND THIS PART FROM ANY DEALER, AND NONE OF THEM HAD A RELEASE DATE FOR THE PART COMING IN. THERE WERE ALSO NO AFTER MARKET MODELS OF THIS PART MADE. THEY CONTACTED HONDA DIRECTLY WHO SAID THEY ARE RELEASING SOME 9/29/19 AND YOU CAN PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE TO RECEIVE ONE BECAUSE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE NEED THIS PART. SEVERAL PEOPLE TOLD ME THAT IF NONE ARE IN STOCK, AND SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, IT LIKELY MEANS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE PART, AND HONDA MAY BE HOLDING OFF ON RELEASING MORE. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR CURRENTLY BECAUSE IF THE AC COMPRESSOR UNIT LOCKS UP IT COULD AFFECT THE ENTIRE BELT WHICH CONNECTS ALL PARTS OF MY CAR, CAUSING IT TO BE COMPLETELY UNABLE TO DRIVE. I ALSO LIVE IN TEXAS, AND IT IS IN THE 100S, AND I DON'T HAVE AC WHICH IS A HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERN AS WELL.

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound and lost motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle felt like the transmission was in neutral(N), and the front wheels were locked. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the message "Check Transmission" was displayed. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was undrivable and was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the pulley shaft and the drive belt were damaged. The mechanic determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V574000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 197,000.

The plug for the automatic transmission fluid pops off and allows for all contaminates and water to enter transmission unknowingly. This was noticed at 94k miles on ours and on forums is a highly reoccurring item that needs to be addressed by Honda before transmissions begin failing from a "popping" plug that falls out while driving unbeknownst to the driver.

I was approaching a green light, and engaged the brakes to slow down. As I approached the light reaching approximate 10MPH. The car shuddered, and the alternator must have glitched again.The wheel cranked itself back and forth, causing the car to spin and turn into oncoming traffic. This issue has been recalled for this vehicle but not this VIN. I have notified 3 Honda repair shops of this issue, and have been turned away. The problem is with the electromagnet in the electric steering column. It is well documented, and I have video of several instances of thi issue occurring. Additional witnesses of the problem are available. And the incident itself resulting in property damage and bodily harm. Honda was made aware of this problem on multiple occasions, and did nothing to remedy the problem.

I HAD TURNED INTO A SHOPPING CENTER NEAR MY HOME AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT THE CURB. The Situation: My vehicle has an open safety recall, NHTSA #15V-574 (Honda Recall JU2). This recall specifically warns that a software error causes high stress on the CVT drive pulley shaft, which can result in the shaft breaking during operation. Because this recall was never performed on my vehicle, the drive pulley shaft has now failed exactly as described, rendering the transmission useless. Legal Basis for Total Replacement: 1. Consequential Damage: The software update (the original recall remedy) was designed to prevent physical breakage. Since that remedy was not provided, the physical hardware has now failed. A software update cannot fix a broken shaft; therefore, a total replacement of the transmission is the only viable remedy for this safety defect. 2. Federal Law: Under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, manufacturers must provide a remedy for safety defects free of charge. Because the unaddressed defect led to the total failure of the transmission, Honda is obligated to cover the cost of the replacement.

I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN EARLY 2015. NEVER HAD SO MUCH AS A SLIP IN THE TRANSMISSION. GOT A RECALL NOTICE IN 2015 ABOUT A SENSOR FOR MAKING THE "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" LIGHT STAY ON WHEN STARTING THE CAR. HONDA TELLS ME THEY FIXED THIS IN DECEMBER 2015. ON AUGUST 27, 2020, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A VERY DANGEROUS HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION JUST STOPPED. NO NOISE, NO POP, NO STUTTER. THE CAR STARTED DECELERATING AND EVERY ERROR MESSAGE KNOWN TO MAN CAME ON THE SCREEN. CHECK POWER STEERING, CHECK TMP SYSTEM, CHECK ENGINE, CHECK TRANSMISSION, ETC. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, BARELY GETTING ACROSS THE LINE AND HAVING TO SIT AND PRAY FOR HALF AN HOUR THAT THE HUGE CARS BARRELING TOWARD ME WOULD NOT HIT ME. GOT IT TOWED TO KING HONDA. A TECHNICIAN CALLED FIVE DAYS LATER AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT. I CAN EITHER PAY $6000 FOR A TRANSMISSION FROM HONDA, OR I CAN PAY $2000 FOR A USED TRANSMISSION. HE SAID THE DRIVE SHAFT PULLEY BROKE. I ASKED HIM ABOUT THE RECALL NUMBER 15V574000 THAT SAYS THE SOFTWARE SETTINGS THAT CONTROL THE TRANSMISSION OPERATION MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION DRIVE PULLEY SHAFT. HE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY CAR. HE SAID HE'D TALK TO HIS MANAGER AND CALL ME BACK. HE LEFT A MESSAGE SAYING THE TRANSMISSION HAS COME APART ON THE INSIDE AND I WOULD NEED A NEW ONE. IN THE MEANTIME, I'D CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THE MAN TOLD ME IT WAS JUST SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED. I ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL. HE SAID IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. On August 30, while driving the power steering warning activated and the steering wheel become extremely hard to move. Stopped the car and followed the troubleshoot procedure; however, the failure persisted and had to request a tow truck. When the tow truck showed up several hours later, the steering operated normally and warning lights were gone. The car was towed to the Honda dealership Klein Honda 10611 Evergreen Way south, Everett, WA 98204. As the car was offloaded the tow truck, the steering operated normally and without any warnings. After few minutes at the dealership, I started the car and got the steering warning and the steering was extremely hard to move. The next day I got a call from the dealer and was told that the Electric Power Steering module was filled with water and was completely burned. The Service Manager provided the DTC fault codes 33-01 and 33-06. The dealership brought an expert to trace the water source on Friday Sept 8. The water expert investigated the water leak source. The water leak was caused by deteriorating insulation material on the right-hand side of the car and ended up in the Electric Power Steering module, causing the loss of steering. This raises significant concerns as a customer and as a person sharing the road with other Honda cars for the following facts: The car has low miles, less than 78000, The car is 9 years old, The car has been in mild climate/weather, Honda does not require inspection/removal and replacement of such components, There have been a significant number of events like this for this model. I'd like to request your department to open an investigation to this matter. This potentially impacts any vehicle sharing the road with Honda. In simple terms: Loss of steering = Loss of lives. Due to pure luck this did not ended in a fatal accident. 1/2 down the road it would have! Attached are pictures from the determination of the expert on how the water entered into the Electric Power Steering module.

I’ve had to get the brakes and rotors completely replaced twice in a year and they need to be done AGAIN already. That’s not normal, for brakes to wear that fast. The electric seats do not work and there’s an issue electrically that the trunk keeps popping open I had to unplug it. The battery randomly kept draining over night for a period of a month, then started working regularly again. I want this car to be included in the recalls and I want assistance about my vehicle

This affects braking system, abs/VSA module, power steering and tpms sensors. Car is unsafe for driver and other vehicles on the road. Inspected by Honda and given code 123-11 for failing ABS solenoid. Highly dangerous.

I had rear brake driver side light change on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at the Hondas dealer Downtown Los Angeles. On Wednesday November 17, 2021 the 3rd rear brake light started a fire in my truck. The light bult overheated melted the cover, burned the fuse and my dress and suit in the trunk started to burn. It smelled horrible. I immediately called the dealer and Honda. The dealer made a diagnosis that the fuse burned but they cannot explain why or if it will happen again if it gets replaced. I am paying $496.62 to the dealer for repair but they cannot determine what cause it? I am very upset because my son is 2 years old and he seats in the rear. I am a single mother and I was dropping him to school when this happened. I don't imagine being exposes to fire or any safety hazard. The driver rear breake light was previously replaced on February of 2021. I found it strange and asked the dealer why is it being replaced too many time and just one side but they cannot explain why. I want an investigation or some kind of explanation why my vehicle catch fire. I dont know if Honda is manufacturing vehicles with faulty electric wire in the trunk causing fires and damages. I want to prevent future deaths. It was a very scary, stressful situation, traumatic experience. My dress has a hole and my suit inside the truck were damage expenses adding to $1,512.00.Please help me investigate this matter. Thank you.

Started my car in neutral with the parking brake engaged. The car took off by itself up a curb over a hill and struck another vehicle. I managed to get back in the vehicle and applied the brakes but the brakes did not respond. And my car was serviced at Freeway Honda in Santa Ana three days prior to the accident. I reported the problem with the brakes, they did a brake service, but they did not properly diagnose the issue and fix it. They told me they couldn’t find any problems and release the car back to me. Three days later it was in an accident and the brakes failed. Now freeway Honda has stated that they finally diagnosed the issue with the brakes, but they are refusing to fix it free of charge even though they have been deemed liable for the accident. My rear shocks were also damaged due to the impact of going up the curb and State Farm is investigating that to see if they will be paying for the repair and replacement of the shocks.

The taffeta white paint started peeling off the car within just three months after originally purchasing in 2014. The paint continues to peel off in various places and is causing the body to corrode and rust. Honda refuses to do anything about this. There is no reason for it to be peeling off at the rate it is. This has been happening since just after purchasing the car and will cost thousands to fix the rust and repaint. This is a major issue that Honda has not acknowledged and it’s happening to many people.

About a year ago, the transmission failed costing us nearly $5000 to fix it. This incident happened approximately April of 2022, no warning signs at all. Now, the airbag deployed while merging onto the freeway without any impact which was the scariest thing. I’m very concerned there are other issues. There were no warning signs on both incidents.

Honda Civic 2014 - The right CV axle (drive shaft) was corroded and detached causing the vehicle to become immovable while in traffic. Fortunately, we were near a stop light and traffic was going slow and able to go around the vehicle without causing a crash. The vehicle had to be towed. This same issue is already a recall for the Honda Accord 2013-2015. We had this same thing happen to our 2013 Honda Accord at a major traffic intersection. Again, the vehicle had to be towed and repaired. The remaining side was replaced via Honda recall. We are asking that there be a mandatory recall of this issue for the 2014 Honda Civic as it is a safety risk. We are just lucky that both of these incidents occurred while near stop lights and no one was injured. However, there is one side remaining on our Civic that needs replaced and hopefully the recall will be issued before the car breaks down and causes a crash and possible deathly injury. We contacted Honda and they said we can take the car in for a diagnostic inspection at a personal cost to us of $100-$500 depending on the dealer. This is unacceptable.

This vehicle's VSA modulator is faulty. Lots of people have issues with this system. HONDA instead of helping, they have monopoly on parts and no other mechanic will fix it because honda is not allowing them so they can charge 2000$ to fix faulty VSA modulator. It's absurd that consumers doesn't have choice to fix their car from a faulty part that can only be fixed at Honda dealership. Please investigate this, I think they're doing this intentionally because it's making them money and they have no one to compete. Other similar Hondas have same faulty vsa modulator as well. I was sold a lemon in July 2015 from Victory Honda San Bruno.my VIN comes up as a 2014 Civic LX instead of EX-L.I never noticed the model difference until I had to look up recalls etc 'cause my pulley shaft stopped@ 94kmiles whilr on the freeway.Honda in Oakland&San bruno wanted $8k to fix it,ran my credit 4x for financing justtosay,not approved&my tranny cancels a $9k buyback/trade in.Honda of Oakland allowed a rep. to switch my car info w/someone else's, my last name, mileage, model, etc &allowed someone to pickup my car from them &didn't notify me for 4days,they also wanted$600 for tests, service AorB,trany flush(i didn't authorize)&my car(no previous engine problems)still doesnt drive.It has only been serviced at those 2 honda locations.I was NEVER notified&have these issues..PULLEY SHAFT#JU2,TIRE BEAD #JD8,now the AIRBAG RECALLS.On Nhtsa.gov/recalls,theres hundreds of owners w/my VIN #s minus the last 5-8 #s w/the same problems esp at 90k mile.my car is PAID OFF

ON AL SR149 "GREEN SPRINGS HIGHWAY," SOUTHBOUND, LESS THAN 500 FEET FROM THE OXMOOR RD INTERSECTION, IN THE RIGHT LANE, I HIT A POTHOLE WITH MY FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. I DID NOT NOTICE THE POTHOLE WHILE DRIVING, BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP IT FROM KNOCKING THE WHEEL OUT OF ALLIGNMENT AND BURSTING THE TIRE. I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY TOOLS TO CHANGE THE TIRE ON THE SIDE OF I-65 AFTER MY TPMS SENSOR WENT OFF. IF I HAD NOT DECIDED TO BUY A SPARE TIRE MONTHS AGO, I WOULD BE SET BACK AT LEAST $150 DOLLARS. I HAVE A 2014 HONDA CIVIC WITH 136000 ON THE CAR THAT HAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM STARTING. SOME 2014 HONDA CIVIC WERE RECALLED FOR A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM YET MY VEHICLE, 2014 CIVIC MODEL MISS THE RECALL. ALL CIVICS HAVE A PRETTY SIMILAR SETUP AS FAR AS THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. AS FAR AS HONDA GOES THEY ARE KNOWN FOR THERE ENGINES LASTING A WHILE AND HAVING NO ISSUES YET I HAVE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE THAT IS YET UNKNOWN AND WILL COST AT LEAST 5K TO FIX. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PUBLIC PARKING GARAGE ON THE 1ST FLOOR. SEVERAL HOURS AFTER PARKING MY CAR, A BMW X5 PARKED NEXT TO MY VEHICLE. THE OWNER OF THE BMW LEFT THEIR VEHICLE AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. HOWEVER, WHILE THE OWNER WAS AWAY FROM THE CAR, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE SPREAD TO 4 OTHER VEHICLES INCLUDING MY VEHICLE ' THE TWO VEHICLES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR AND TWO VEHICLES ON THE 2ND FLOOR OF THE PARKING GARAGE. MY VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AS A RESULT OF THIS FIRE. THE FIRE ENGULFED THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND COMPLETELY DAMAGED THE INTERIOR. FOR EXAMPLE: REPORT RECEIPT DATE: 10-30-2017 NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 17V683000 MANUFACTURER: BMW OF NORTH AMERICA, LLC CONSEQUENCE: AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CAN CAUSE THE PARTS WITHIN THE PCV VALVE TO MELT, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN USE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND BMW SHOULD BE MORE ATTENTIVE AND RESPONSIBLE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. AS A RESULT OF THIS, I HAVE LOST MY CAR AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOUP THE RETAIL VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. I JUST LET IT BE BECAUSE NO FURTHER ALERTS CAME ON. BUT I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND SLIPPED ON SNOW THE OTHER DAY AND HIT A CURB, WHICH DEPLOYED MY AIRBAGS. MY CAR IS 2014 HONDA CIVIC EX-L NAVI WITH PUSHBUTTON ENGINE START/STOP. I WAS APPROACHING AN INCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 30 MPH. I THOUGHT I SHOULD ACTIVATE THE 4-WAY FLASHERS AS A WARNING TO OTHER DRIVERS. WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON, I PUSHED THE START/STOP BUTTON BY MISTAKE AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE START/STOP BUTTON IS JUST BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THE FLASHER BUTTON IS ABOUT SIX INCHES TO THE LOWER RIGHT OF THE START/STOP BUTTON. OF COURSE WHEN THE ENGINE STOPPED I LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKE BOOST. IT WAS REALLY HARD TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AT THAT POINT. THANKFULLY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT AND I CONTINUED TO COAST SLIGHTLY LEFT. I ORDER TO RESTART THE ENGINE, I HAD TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH LIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS IS A DIFFICULT SEQUENCE TO PERFORM WHEN ONE'S VEHICLE IS DEAD AND COASTING WITH MINIMAL CONTROL. BY THE TIME I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND REGAINED CONTROL I WAS APPROACHING THE JERSEY BARRIERS IN THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS BEING PASSED BY THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME. THE START/STOP BUTTON IS REAL EASY TO OPERATE. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE FULLY DEPRESSED, JUST A SLIGHT TOUCH WILL ACTIVATE IT. MORE FORCE IS REQUIRED TO OPERATE THE FLASHER BUTTON THAN THE START/STOP BUTTON. PLUS, THE START/STOP BUTTON PROTRUDES FROM THE SURFACE OF THE DASH AND CAN BE EASILY PRESSED BY ACCIDENT. THE START/STOP SHOULD BE RECESSED INSIDE A SHROUD AND ACTIVATION SHOULD REQUIRE A FULL DEPRESSION AND BE HELD FOR AT LEAST TWO SECONDS. WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 25 MPH ON SOUTH LAS VEGAS BOULEVARD IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, WENT TO ACCELERATE AROUND A CAR AND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR TO KICK IT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE PEDAL WOULDN'T COME OFF THE FLOOR EVEN WHEN I TRIED TO PRY IT OFF WITH MY FOOT.. HAD TO APPLY BRAKE WITH LEFT FOOT AND THEN APPLY GAS PEDDLE WITH RIGHT FOOT FOR IMMEDIATE ACCELERATION TO AVOID ACCIDENT. UPON APPLYING BRAKE AND THEN THE GAS CAR BOGGED AS IF TO STALL ALMOST CAUSING ANOTHER ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE INITIAL INCIDENT. I TOOK CAR TO FOX HONDA, MICHIGAN (DEALER WHERE CAR WAS LEASED FROM) AND THEY INDICATED THAT I SHOULDN'T BREAK WITH LEFT AND THEN GIVE IT GAS WITH RIGHT. THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (WHICH ALSO AFFECTS THE TRACTION) DOES NOT WORK. THE SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED TO COME ON EACH TIME YOU START THE CAR. IT CAN ONLY BE TURNED OFF MANUALLY. MY CAR SHOWS THE SYSTEM IS OFF AT ALL TIMES. I AM UNABLE TO TURN IT ON MANUALLY. THE OWNER'S MANUAL SAYS THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN WITH THE SYSTEM OFF. HONDA SAYS THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE ANY WAY TO FIX IT. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. I LEASED A NEW HONDA CIVIC AND I CAN NOT DRIVE IT WITHOUT EXCRUCIATING PAIN IN MY NECK. THE HEADRESTS SHOVE MY HEAD FORWARD AND I CAN NOT FIND A COMFORTABLE POSITION. I AM HEARTBROKEN, ANGRY AND IN PAIN. AFTER MY FIRST 30 MINUTE DRIVE IN THIS CAR, I RESEARCHED ONLINE THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM DUE TO THE NEW HEAD RESTRAINT REGULATIONS. I CERTAINLY WOULD NOT HAVE SIGNED A 3 YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT IF I HAD KNOWN THAT I WAS AGREEING TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THREE YEARS OF PAIN. I'VE TRIED ADJUSTING THE SEAT HEIGHT, ADJUSTING THE TILT OF THE SEAT AND THE HEADREST HEIGHT IN EVERY COMBINATION I CAN THINK OF AND ALL I CAN ACHIEVE IS A BARELY TOLERABLE DRIVING POSITION WHERE I CAN BARELY SEE OVER THE DASHBOARD AND THE HEADREST IS RAISED HIGH ENOUGH THAT IT DOESN'T TOUCH MY HEAD - NOR PROTECT IT AS DESIGNED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS MAINLY AN ISSUE WITH PASSIVE HEADRESTS AND THAT THE ACTIVE HEADRESTS ARE A BETTER DESIGN THAT STAY OUT OF THE DRIVER'S SPACE. MY ONLY OPTION WILL BE TO REVERSE THE HEADREST FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS AND HOPE MY CAR ISN'T REAR ENDED. ALTHOUGH HAVING MY NEW CAR TOTALED WOULD BE A BLESSING BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE A CHANCE TO FIND A VEHICLE TO DRIVE THAT DOESN'T HURT ME PHYSICALLY. I SEE THAT THESE FORWARD TILTING HEADREST COMPLAINTS ONLINE GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2008 WHEN THE NEW REGULATIONS CAME OUT THAT FORCED CAR MANUFACTURERS TO PRODUCE VEHICLES THAT TORTURE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF AMERICANS EVERY YEAR. I WOULD HAVE GLADLY PAID $200 OR $300 MORE FOR AN ACTIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEM THAT STAYED OUT OF MY WAY. THE NHTSA SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR THEIR DISGUSTING CALLOUS DISREGARD FOR THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO SUFFER EVERY DAY DUE TO THESE GOVERNMENT-REQUIRED HEADRESTS FORCING THEIR NECKS AND SPINES INTO UNNATURAL AND PAINFUL POSITIONS. *JS
