After recall was done. Car is still experiencing hard to turn, jerking and clicking noises when turning to park. Was on highway and car jerked caused me to almost hit a passing car.

I was in an accident due to the recall. I paid for the steering rack replacement as Honda dealership refused to replace it. I need reimbursement for replacing this part

My steering has a very bad clunk, i have been told my honda and other technician that rack and pinion is internally damaged. I waited for the recall and when i went in for my recall honda only added grease which stopped my steering to stick but the damage has been done, because for almost 2 years i drove the car with sticky steering wheel and i believe bec8of not enough grease in the rack it has damage the steering rack and im out of warranty like my other like me.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the steering wheel felt sticky while driving and making turns. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000(Steering) was performed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the recall repair was performed for a second time; however, the failure had worsened. The dealer was notified and recommended the steering rack replacement based on past experiences. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to cover the steering rack replacement because it was not covered by the recall. The contact stated that the recall remedy had failed to correct the steering failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

After intermittently experiencing sticking of my steering wheel and creaking/grinding when turning the wheel, in April 2024 my vehicle’s rack & pinion recall was closed at Northside Honda (28,676 miles). In May 2024, I was provided a free oil change at the same dealership. I wasn’t informed of any failed recommendations or provided a copy of the multipoint inspection (29,328 miles). The sticky steering continued to be intermittent and I was unable to replicate it, specifically as cooler weather began. In February 2025, my vehicle’s steering gearbox recall was closed and corrective action was performed at Hill Country Honda due to my sticky steering noticeably occurring at highway speeds, making it difficult to return to center, specifically during a drive home from work that required significant effort to stay in my lane (38,957 miles). In October 2025, I scheduled another inspection, as the sticky steering had noticeably returned once more at highway speeds. It was then diagnosed by Hill Country Honda’s technician to be an internal failure of the gearbox with a recommendation of electric steering gearbox replacement (51,073 miles). After numerous attempts to inform Honda Corporate of my recent finding (fail recommendation “incorrectly assembled steering rack”) which Northside Honda never mentioned to me in 2024, neither Honda Corporate nor the dealership will take accountability. I’ve also noted that no comments were listed in the rack and pinion recall to indicate a concern/complaint, despite my description stated above. The dealership is continuing to state my car was not included in the recall though listed on my oil change visit after the recall was closed and they won’t cover 100% replacement regardless of this being incomplete warranty work from 2024. A new investigation NEEDS to be opened on this steering recall. Honda Corporate’s corrective action has not helped numerous people from what I’ve researched even with the replacement of a steering rack.

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, I was driving a 2022 Honda Civic Sport with my wife in the passenger seat when the vehicle’s driver-assist/steering system unexpectedly intervened and caused the vehicle to veer off the roadway and down a steep embankment (approximately 40–50 feet) without driver input. I attempted to correct the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to respond as expected. There was no intentional steering command to leave the roadway. The vehicle appeared to steer itself, resulting in a crash. Both occupants sustained injuries. I suffered a neck/collarbone injury and a concussion. My wife suffered a concussion, a large laceration to her outer right calf, and bruising. Medical treatment was required and was sought at urgent care. After the incident, warning indicators were present on the dashboard. I later became aware that this model year has known complaints and recalls related to steering, lane-assist, or driver-assist system malfunctions. These issues were not disclosed at the time the vehicle was purchased used from a dealership. This appears to be a serious safety defect that poses a risk of injury or death to drivers and passengers. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate.

We purchased our Honda in 2022. Within three months the lane departure system was failing. The wheel was jerky and at times difficult to correct. This occurred while staying in lane and not close to lines on the road. We took it in they identified the issue and replaced it. Within nine months it failed again. This time even worse. They identified it was the same issue. This was December of 2023. Our dealership advised it would be three months to get the necessary parts in. Three months passed. We called, part not in would be another three months. We called back December of 2024. Was advised Honda had canceled the part delivery. I assume due to recall. We would have never been notified had we not been persistent in calling. A letter or phone call from dealership of Honda would have been nice. The excuses were unacceptable. Our concerns were never addressed as the customer service in this issue was non-existing. Our vehicle is getting worse and still this part has not been replaced. Unexcusable. This car had 300 miles on it when purchased, brand new.

I got this car (2022 honda civic touring) as preowned a little over 2 months ago. It had 39k miles. I inspected the car and thought it looked perfect and so I got it. In getting it, i opted out on getting extended warranty for personal reason. However the car had 60 days dealer warranty. After several times driving it, i noticed that my arms get sore. I thought it was just the way it drives. I drove one of my friends car which is the same car same year and it just drives way smoother. Mine is really sticky. I have to really put effort into keeping the wheel straight. When i make slight turns, the wheel doesnt go back to going straight, it gets stuck, so i have to pull it again to go straight. I heard about the recall on this car about the steering. I brought it in to honda but they said that my car isnt affected by it and that my part was okay. Due to my schedule i was only able to bring it in until almost the dealer warranty expires. However, they said that the car was fine, that they didnt notice the issue ive been experiencing. They told me that it drove good and advised me to get an allignment done. By the time the allignment place was able to get me in, the warranty had already expired and so i was really hoping that the allignment would fix it. Unfortunately, it didnt not. My steering is still so stiff/sticky. I dont know what to do.
Oct 06, 2024
My car was purchased used with 79k miles and the longer the car is running, the stiffer the steering wheel becomes. Any small moments are stiff and make the car jerk to much and it causes me to have to fight to keep the car in a straight line while driving. Lane keeping assistance is also driving way too close to one side since the steering wheel causes the car to struggle to make any small changes. It gets close to cars that are next to me and can potentially cause an accident if I make one small move. They appeared for me on 8/15 and I purchased this car on 8/14. A steering wheel should be smooth and not so stiff. I have an appointment coming up on Monday for a diagnostic but I am afraid they’ll tell me it’s out of warranty or there is nothing wrong with it. Which is impossible since so many others like me are having the same issue. My car needs to become part of this recall to be able to afford to change the steering shell rack or fix what needs to be fixed for my safety and those around me.

I am not sure if you would consider this as safety issue but with the amount of drivers using phones while driving I see it as a major safety issue. When asking the vehicle to read a text message aloud via CarPlay it starts off extremely loud for half a second then goes so quiet it cannot be heard making it useless. Obviously it would be advise for the driver to not pick up their phone while driving to check the text message but that is not reality these days. This has been a problem since the day I bought the car and was told by the dealer they couldn’t do anything to fix it until Honda did a software update. Three years later and still nothing. It seems there are tons of drivers who have reported the same issues but still no fix 3 years later. It’s a major safety issue in my opinion for both the drivers of 2022 civics and innocent drivers who probably have gotten hit or could get hit from a distracted driver because they are picking up their phone and taking their eyes off the road to read a text because the read out loud function doesn’t work. I ask the dealer every time I take the car in if there has been a fix yet and the answer is always no. Thanks for taking this into consideration! Honda has known of this potential safety issues for three years and has done nothing to fix it.

Upon attempting to use my air conditioner for the 1st time this year I found that it would only blow out hot air. Contacted the dealer who said they would charge me $160 to look at it. I ended up contacting another car repair shop who took it in and did a full check and found that the compressor had no damage but was leaking freon that they had to add because my car had NONE. The car is only 2 years old. Upon further research I found that several hundred thousand 10th gen Hondas were given extended warranties to 100,000 miles because of the same exact issue. I called the dealer back about this and they said that my car is 11th gen so not part of this extended warranty. It appears obvious to me that this problem continues with this new 11th gen. People should be warned. This is a huge expense and it's simply unacceptable for a 2 year old car.

American Honda has failed or is unable to remedy the defect in my vehicle, without charge and within a reasonable period of time (60 days from the date I first contacted the dealer for a repair appointment). Therefore, I am submitting this complaint as the original safety recall notice suggested. I called them on November 26, 2024 for an appointment. They told me they could not schedule an appointment until the part arrived. It has been 60 days and I still do not have an appointment scheduled.

When scheduling the appointment for recall # 24V-744, was told they would put me on waiting list for the replacement part. Was informed it could take several months to receive the call that the part was even sent.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
15 complaints
I rented this car. The adaptive cruise worked great in the daytime, but when it got dark and started to rain, the system started to lose its ability to detect other vehicles. Instead of disabling itself like it should have, the system continued to operate. It often would detect vehicles intermittently, speeding up and slowing down randomly and abruptly. The worst incident was when I was behind an unloaded flatbed semi (again, it was dark and raining.) The car lost track of the semi and accelerated to my set speed. As I got closer, but not THAT close, the car suddenly thought I was much closer than I was and initiated automated emergency braking. It then lost sight of the semi and repeated this cycle a few more times before I turned off cruise control. There was no one behind me, or this could have been a serious accident. I looked in the owner's manual to see how to disable the system and was appalled to see that it uses a single camera instead of a radar. This is obviously unsafe in bad weather, and the system did not disable itself appropriately.

On multiple occaisions the forward collision braking system has engaged erroniously while traveling on highways or interstates. Sudden heavy braking in these scenarios is disorienting and puts my at higher risk of rear end collision and of traction loss. The Honda dealer has been made aware of the issue but has dismissed it and refused to forward the complaint to Honda. There were no warnings or notifications other than the indicator that the forward collision braking system was being engaged.
Apr 18, 2024
While driving the car with the cruise set at any random speed, the adaptive cruise control would "cancel" and a long beep noise would sound. When attempting to "resume" cruise control, three quick beeps can be heard and the cruise control would not activate. The car has to be shut off and cranked back up for the cruise control to work again. The dealership I took it to claimed they could not recreate the issue. There are no DTC codes and no warning lights. It has been happening since I purchased the vehicle in February of 2022. The sudden cancellation of the cruise control can pose a safety issue for drivers behind me and myself.

I owned 2 of these 2022 civics equipped with Honda's Collision mitigation braking technology. This is the year they removed the forward radar and relied only on a single camera unit. I was involved in a rear end collision where I was the rear ender even with the distance setting on the furthest setting. The accident was on the highway at about 40MPH. A vehicle Merging on to the highway stopped in front of me in my lane. I was using adaptive cruise control. I can tell you the responsive of this system had me worried from in several other situations I was in. Not only did the adaptive cruise fail detect and slow the vehicle based on the vehicle in front of me, the safety system did not make any attempt to slow the vehicle and no detection was made by the system until about .2 seconds (or about 6') prior to the actual impact. I investigated the safety systems logs with a Honda mechanic by connecting a device to the OBD2 port and downloading the logs to a computer to verify indeed it failed to properly detect any obstacle until it was far to late. This seems to be a concern other Honda drivers have expressed as well with this revision of their Collision mitigation braking system. I believe they market as if this and the adaptive cruise system are features you can rely on to keep you safe and while I understand it can not account for every situation this was a perfectly clear day in Arizona at about 5:30pm in moderate day light. I believe this system is dangerous and has serious flaws that do not properly detect vehicles in front of you in many situations is extremely slow to react in almost every situation. I attempted to upload these logs but you do not accept the file format they were exported in. If I can send these another way please let me know.

Crash: 1
The Collision Mitigation System has spontaneously engaged 4 times with no obstacles in front or to the side of my car. 3 incidents were on city streets with a low rate of speed. The 4th incident happened on the freeway at about 65MPH! I had no vehicles in front of me or to the side of me but I had several behind me. The car came to a screeching halt on the freeway with a truck behind me. Thankfully the truck was far enough behind that he was able to maneuver around me. I was able to get the car going and pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway and threw up because I thought for a moment that I might die if the truck had slammed into me. It was very close and the truck driver was pretty angry as he passed. There were no obstacles in any of the 4 instances. I asked about the issue during the next routine tune up but was told they couldn't replicate it and no codes from the car. It's happened 4 times since June 2021 when I bought the car brand new from the Honda dealership. I'm scared to get on the freeway now after that last incident. They can't replicate it they said - so now what do I do with a car I can't rely upon to be safe?

-What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Forward collision warning and accelerator pedal How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Traffic travelling at 45+ mph had to change lanes to avoid rear ending me after I pulled out onto the frontage roads from a stop and the accelerator pedal stopped responding (rpms went to idle). If there was less time to pull onto the road and/or others couldn't change lanes this could have been very bad. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. -Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The screen was flashing "BRAKE" while I had the gas pedal pressed to the floor (after realizing the car wasn't responding) with no response from the car for probably 3 seconds while traveling less than 10 mph. I had no way of knowing the accelerator pedal would become unresponsive after pulling out into traffic. -My theory is that a pedestrian on the right sidewalk potentially made the (camera?) system think I was going to hit them but the person was not in or even that close to the road and my car wasnt pointed at them at any point. -This happened awhile ago (unsure of exact date) but couldn't help but think of how bad it could have been there was less of a gap or other drivers were unable to change lanes and it still makes me uneasy pulling out into fast paced traffic unknowing if the car will have this happen again potentially causing a serious accident.

Twice now when driving on the highway using cruise control my vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brake hard for no apparent reason. There were not vehicles ahead of me that were stopping/slowing. The warning "brake" comes across the dashboard. This potentially could cause a safety issue if someone were to rear-end me when the brakes were applied suddenly and hard. I am in the process of contacting the dealer to have the issue addressed.
Feb 21, 2023
Adaptive cruise control suddenly disengaged with a loud beep while on an interstate and collision mitigation braking also engaged without warning or reason. No warning lights or messages came on. Today, 12/16/2022 is the first time this happened.
Dec 16, 2022
The adaptive cruise control disengages abruptly during its operation with a beep and cannot be reengaged unless it is restarted. Honda seems to have released a TSB for this issue but this car hasn't been updated for that TSB software update. Nevertheless I wish to log this complaint since it did occur a couple of times on the road so far with no obvious abnormal surrounding situations. The windshield and the weather were clear. The second incident occurred during night. Plan to go the dealer and get the TSB software flashed.
Sep 21, 2022
While driving on the interstate both adaptive cruise control(ACC) and regular cruise control have disengaged on multiple occasions. Once this occurs the cruise control will not engage regardless of whether I try ACC or regular cruise control and I receive a message "Cruise Control Off" and a beep when I try. The only consistent solution seems to be to turn off the car and turn it back on. There have been multiple instances where the system disengaged while I was between other vehicles and my safety was definitely at risk due to a sudden change in speed without a logical traffic reason. I have not had the vehicle inspected by a dealer because this only occurs very randomly(5-10 times in 12,00 miles) and to reproduce it would likely require hours of driving. I am only able to speciically list one date that I know that this problem occured while my friends and I were on a 12 hour road trip back from watching an NFL game. Thankfully I was driving and was already aware of the issue and quickly accelerated away from the 18 wheeler that was tailgating dangerously close behind me. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

Have sticky issue . My vin was due for a recall took it in . Like always "couldn't replicate the issue" so no fix was provided . Vehicle was not fixed just cleared from recall. All dealers are going to say that just clear it and say there's no issue . Something else needs to be done . They said my tint was causing the issue but I had the issue was before tint was applied . Has completely nothing to do . No rental was given . Waste of my time and money . My steering has completely lost steering twice already intermediate then comes back .

As a longtime Honda owner, I've had 6 other Honda vehicles, I purchased this vehicle for my son when he turned 16. As a new driver, he did not recognize the steering problems that I DID the first time I drove the vehicle and this happened :( This is very scary for a parent but I recognize he may not have known different. Soon after I purchased my new vehicle, I noticed the steering seemed "stiff". I would be driving the vehicle and would feel like there was no power steering. I would be 'jerking the wheel' in order to try and correct the steering. I would constantly be gripping the wheel in order to steer the vehicle, even on straight, highway roads. I stopped allowing my son to drive the vehicle because of my safety concerns. I would attempt to set the cruise control so I wouldn't have to be 'fighting the wheel' and after a short amount of time with cruise control on, cruise control would automatically shut off for no apparent reason. This issues happened on multiple occasions. I took the vehicle to my dealer, over 80 miles one way, on multiple occasions. I showed them video of the steering issues that the passenger took when this would occur. They couldn't get the problem to duplicate. Finally after the third trip to the dealership, they submitted for warranty request to replace the steering column. On the fourth trip, the steering column was replaced. This is obviously a major safety concern!

The steering wheel keeps jerking and it feels like the car swerves whenever it wants to. With and without the lane assist. I have stopped using lane assist and it still has the same issue.
Mar 28, 2024
I recently purchased a 22' civic EX used less then a week ago and noticed the steering wheel acting almost as if its sticking/catching when driving 45-50mph+ and doesnt want to correct unless you pull/yank to get out of turn. Ive also noticed having to make many small corrections while driving even in a straight line like it wants to veer due to the constant jerkiness almost like an alignment issue but tighter. It is a safety concern especially with how hard it can be to correct; even worse on the interstate at higher rates of speed and more traffic. Issue seems to gradually get worse, the warmer the car is. Took car in to Music city Honda to be inspected, they test drove and noticed issue. Was unwilling to fix bc my car is just outside of warranty. Manufacturering errors/issue should be fixed free of charge!! Told me it would cost $3200 roughly to repair! The car was purchased from dealer with the issue! Called Honda Corporate to file complaint, and now filing here. This is really an unacceptable issue!

Starting from low speeds, you have constantly correct the steering. As you are driving, the steering automatically motions to the right. This causes u to correct the steering constantly, even at low speeds. Speeds of 45, it becomes dangerous.

Feb 18, 2025
As I was driving to church on highway 46W and then, it turned into 23N, I noticed my car was driving by itself. I pushed on the brake pedal because it's an intersection, and I noticed it slowed down, but as soon as I let my foot off the pedal the car was accelerating again. I checked if I touched the cruise control, but it wasn't on. A few times I hit the break and, again, as soon as I took my foot off the brake pedal, the car began to accelerate. This time I lifted both my feet away from the pedals and had them in the air, and I checked if the mat or anything was touching the gas pedal, but nothing was on or pushing it. So, I decided to downshift, because my car is standard manual, and my car began revving. The RPMs went high and then, I shifted up and pushed the gas pedal and after I did that, that's when the gas pedal popped, it made a loud pop, and the car stopped accelerating on its own. If I had to stop immediately, I could have, DEFINITELY, got into an accident for something that was out of my control. There were not any warning lights or any other symptoms prior or after that incident.

Cruise control randomly shuts itself off and will not turn back on.
Jan 27, 2022
Driving down the road with cruise control set, twice it has turned off for no reason. It refuses to turn back on no matter what I do. It can only be "fixed" by restarting the car. My safety and others is at risk because I can't keep my speed as consistent as using cruise control, taking my attention away from the road since I'm now concentrating more in my speed. I have not taken it to the dealer yet as others on the forums say the dealers are doing nothing about it. No warning lamps or warnings of any type before. Once the cruise fails, I get an icon on the screen but no message.

The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they informed him that they were unaware of the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
6 complaints
I’ve had multiple dangerous visibility issues due to the design of the wipers & having the washer fluid mounted onto the wipers rather than the hood of the car. Washer fluid comes out on the left side of the drivers’ side wiper as it reaches the top of the windshield and just gets blown off the left edge. Had to pull over on major highways at night to manually clean windshield of bug spatter in order to see. In winter the wipers freeze and lose contact with the windshield, & result in extreme reduced visibility. Results in extreme danger driving on highways when trucks pass and spray salt and debris onto windows and wipers don’t function to clear windshield. Had many near accidents because of wipers and washer fluid not making sufficient contact with windshield. This is extremely dangerous in winter and summer and needs to be addressed and corrected by Honda ASAP. This was not just once or twice - has occurred repeatedly since 0ct. 2021 to the present time. It is an ongoing problem and danger. Cannot drive safely if the windshield is obstructed and has non functioning wiper system
Mar 28, 2023
Height: 5-7 - 5-8 whether condition: moderate rain Road: driving highway I was driving between 50 - 57 MPH on the highway with the wiper on. The water from the front windshield traversed back to both sides of the Driver & passenger front windows in a strong gulf of stream, that blocked the visibility of both sides of the front drive & passenger windows. I could not see at all from both of the driver and passenger side view mirrors at all. This is potential safety hazardous while driving in the rain, and cannot see through both sides of the side view mirrors. This was very impactful in loss of visibility even on this experience. I am genuinely afraid for my safety as this rainy season ensues. This is incredibly dangerous and could cause an accident or possibly death.
Feb 23, 2023
I was driving down the highway and I got sprayed by a truck, but the wiper would only clear a small portion of the windshield. There were 2 large pockets on the driver and passenger side that the wiper didn't even touch. This issue only occurs in winter. I believe this is a safety issue because I can't see out the window and the wiper system clearly has some issues. I believe Honda should have added a heated wiper park to this car. My old CR-V Touring had heated park and I did not experience such an issue on that vehicle.
Dec 28, 2022
cold weather the wiper blades do not clear the windshield at all. Leaves huge parts of the window not able to see threw. this is at least the 2x to 3x time that this has happen. seems like a big safety issue
Dec 27, 2022
Windshield wipers do not fully clean/clear driver side of windshield. This is a MAJOR safety risk as wet roads can impair driver vision from salt and sand trucks. Windshield wiper fluid does not clean/clear drivers vision from this and creates a direct block of vision of the road. What I experienced was minor due to minimal snow. This was very impactful in loss of visibility even on this experience. I am genuinely afraid for my safety as this winger season ensues. This is incredibly dangerous and could cause an accident or possibly death.

Vehicle was towed to a local repair shop and we were given a quote to replace clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. We then had it towed to a Honda repair center to seek assistance from Honda on the repair because the clutch failed at such low mileage and they diagnosed the cause as premature wear and tear. We know that a bulletin was put out in September 2022 regarding clutch failures with certain Honda Civic Sport models from 2020 and 2021, so we asked Honda for support. They declined because the 2022 model was not covered by the bulletin, even though our Honda had already been produced before that bulletin was released. We believe that our issue is related to the issues with the 2020 and 2021 models and have found that other 2022 and 2023 owners have experienced similar failures. We have included our request letter and escalation request, as well as the repair quote from Zeigler Honda Racine, WI.

Clutch failed at 45000 miles due to early wear. Clutch failed on interstate and resulted in full power loss of vehicle requiring a tow. Honda had previously identified a manufacturing defect with the friction plate as noted in SB-22017 issued in Sept 2022 covering MY 2020 and 2021 vehicles. My vehicle was built in late 2021 and was equipped with the same part as identited as failing in SB-22017. Per Honda dealer, repair of my vehicle is not currently covered by SB and therefore all costs are responsibility of owner. As the SB was issued months after my vehicle and transmission were built, the failed part is likely in MY 2022 vehicles as well.

while in park, out of the blue, four different types of ADAS lights came on the dashboard all at the same time. (ACC, Collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, & brake system). Cruise control, automatic, high beams, etc. no longer worked. Dashboard said to take the car to the dealership. at the dealership, Honda said there was a malfunction with the radar sensor. They ran the diagnostic test, and after updating the system, the problem was fixed.

This vehicle is two years old, has 70,000 miles on it now. It’s worth noting that this issue started when it had 15,000 mile on it several years ago. I took it to the dealer, but they told me they wouldn’t do anything about it since the light no longer indicated an issue. Randomly, the vehicle will suddenly say “collision mitigation system problem, see dealer” and “adaptive cruise control problem see dealer”. These two warnings always show up together, and always turn off lane keep assist and all cruise control options until the warning disappears. The warnings will pop up 5-6 times a year and sometimes last several days, sometimes only seconds. Dealer initially told me it may be due to water after it rains but now it’s happening even during dry weeks when we haven’t had rain in ages.

On six different occasions beginning at the end of June 2024, my daughter has been driving to work in above 100 degree temps, sometimes 110+, and her a/c stops blowing. She has stopped the vehicle to turn off the ignition and restart, but it does not work. Her commute to work then becomes extremely unsafe in the AZ heat and she has been completely soaked with sweat and dizzy upon arrival until she can get hydrated. I am deeply concerned and have an appointment with Honda Superstition Springs, Mesa, AZ tomorrow 7/3/2024. I hope they can find the issue.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that 30 minutes after the vehicle was parked, the vehicle made an abnormally loud beeping sound. The contact stated that he then noticed that the vehicle was on. The check engine, Adaptive Cruise Control, turn signal warning lights, and other warning lights were illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle and disconnected the battery. The contact stated that upon reconnecting the battery, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The dealer was notified of the failure, and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that a diagnostic fee would be charged because the vehicle was not under warranty due to the mileage. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,900.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to complete a turn, the steering wheel required to be manually returned to the center. The contact also became aware that the vehicle failed to unlock using the keyless entry system. Upon entering the vehicle, the instrument panel indicated that the rear passenger’s side seat was occupied, even though there was no one seated in the seat. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that various wires within the wiring harness were disconnected. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 59,000.

Hello, I am a victim of cyber stalking. My vehicle was broken into and someone downloaded some type of application within the audio system. I am hoping you can assist by contacting Honda on my behalf. I have tried going to a local dealership and ask for assistance with a software update but they said i had to download an app on my mobile phone. I cannot download the app because the person is accessing my phone. I have gone to the authorities several times in the past. I am asking that please contact Honda Motor Corp. And if they can contact the dealership in Weymouth MA and provide instructions for how they can provide a software update to my vehicle. The person is tracking my every driven mode. I tried doing a factory reset but that does not work because there seems to be an app or something imbedded. I was just going to remove the external radio feature which is mounted but this, external piece, i believe assist with some safety features. This has been going on for over a year.

Windshield crack on passage edge with no impact or cause at 2,000 miles. Noticeable sounds like sand constantly hitting windshield or air whooshing around was heard prior to seeing small line crack starting from passage side edge. Safety concern is the windshield install issue or faulty glass and vehicle body safety issues. Took vehicle to Honda dealer and service representative took visual assessment stated, no impact mark but something caused it then focused tip of a pen into crack and stated a small item must have hit it and it isn't a manufacturer issue.

The trunk lid does not remain open once lifted up and must manually be held open with one hand. I needed to use both hands to remove something from my trunk yesterday. The trunk lid closed while I was doing so and the metal latch of the trunk lid slammed into my forearm. A golf ball-sized knot started forming almost immediately and I am in a lot of pain today. I am trying not to seek medical assistance today, but will probably end up doing so.

We purchased a 2022 Civic new on 9/11/21, and after the paperwork was completed, the dealer removed the sticker from the window, and the window has gouges from either manufacturing or shipping. The dealer promised to replace the window. That was two months ago. They have been unable to obtain a new window, and they have no estimate for me when they can obtain one. I called Corporate Honda on 10/8/21, and they could not provided me a part status, and they have never called me back on this topic as of 11/8/21. This window could shatter more easily during an event, and we want a clean new one installed. Parts should be available because they are making new models right now. They are placing production over safety in my instance at this point.

I was driving at 75MPH in Adaptive Cruise Control. The closest car in front or beside me was at least 1/4 mile away. The weather was perfect, no rain, wind, etc. Just sunshine. Without Notice, the car automatically braked, the BRAKE light showed up in the dash. The braking period lasted about two seconds during which time inertia slammed me forward. Fortunately there were no cars immediately in back of me or I no doubt probably would have been rear-ended. I did not step on the brake pedal or the gas pedal during this period. My vehicle is scheduled to be at the Dealers Service Center in 6 days but with all the intermittent issues I am having with this vehicle, I am sure they will say they cannot replicate the problem. My assumption is that the forward collision system intermittently axctivated.

STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
4 complaints
My 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback started making a noise while turning left or right. Car was taking to Honda of Owings Mills dealership for an inspection, where the diagnosis was my EPS Rack.
Sep 04, 2024
When driving, I feel like I have to fight the wheel to steer. It feels "sticky" and must constantly be corrected, particularly when driving on a straight road at interstate speeds. This has been confirmed by a dealer. I originally took it to the dealer because it began squeaking when hitting uneven spots in the road. This has been reproduced by the mechanics. The steering problem began shortly afterwards. I also took it in for the steering rack recall, but they did not replace it. They have replaced a strut and lubed the car, which helped temporarily, but the problems began again soon afterwards. The squeakiness began in late September followed by the steering problems around December or January. The steering seems worse when the weather is cold.
May 15, 2024
* Steering wheel binds while turning left, usually around 3 degrees. Breaks free with very light touch. * Steering wheel can kick to the left while returning to neutral from a right turn * Steering wheel was strongly kicked to the left about 6 degrees while going up hill. * Going up or downhill greatly increases the incident rate. The vehicle was taken in several times for this issue. It was taken in for a recall notice, and they said they checked the parts to find nothing wrong. I'm - very - certain they did nothing. My car has since been removed from the recall notice on Honda's website. They were only to recreate the issue once since then with zero resolution.
Apr 22, 2024
The steering wheel sticks about 70% of the time I drive the car. I have to use more pressure to make minor adjustments than normal. I'm guessing it's the steering rack or something similar. It takes my focus away from other things I should be paying attention to while driving. I need this fixed ASAP.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
4 complaints
When traveling on the highway, the cruise control system will cut out on random intervals, and not be available to turn back on unless you stop the vehicle, turn it off, and then turn it back on again. This poses an electrical system risk, and may encourage drivers to pull over on the side of the highway to restart their vehicle to regain access to cruise control. There are already many Reddit and online forums about this issue I have linked below. There is also a service bulletin issued out for this issue, so Honda is aware that vehicles are affected, but this doesn’t actually fix the issue, since my car has already been in for service regarding this issue. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Dec 19, 2023
Vehicle purchased new from Honda dealership in Yuma AZ in June of 2021. Within 2nd day of ownership, the cruise control abruptly shut off causing a safety risk of driver's behind me coming close to rear end collision. The cruise control has abruptly and without warning has randomly shut off over 40 times since then. Vehicle has been taken in for repair 4 times with no resolve. Honda tried adjusting brake switch on first repair attempt, did not fix the issue. Second and third attempts the dealership replaced the SRS module and the brake switch. Drove vehicle for 800 miles, then the issue arose again, causing the car to immediately slow, causing others behind me to have to brake quickly putting me at risk of rear end collision. Opened a case with American Honda, case number12509879. American Honda and the dealership states "they can not fix the issue until they actually see it for themselves acting up", which it does not act up when they drive it. I have many, many videos of the cruise control randomly shutting off and me being unable to reengage the cruise control. The only solution so far is to pull off the roadway, shut the car off, restart it, cruise will activate then. Visit the following website to see how many others are having same issue: https://www.civic11forum.com/threads/anybody-having-cruise-control-issues.963/
Jan 20, 2022
After driving anywhere from 20-30 minutes my car’s cruise control feature experiences a bug. From my experience while the vehicle is in cruise control the cars system will make a low tone elongated beep and the cruise control system will stop working. As the vehicle is in motion and attempting to engage/set the cruise control feature the HUD alerts that the “cruise control” needs to be on/active. No matter how many times you deactivate and activate cruise control the system will not allow you to set ANY desired speed because it perceives the cruise control feature as “off”. The only fix I’ve found is to come to a complete stop or park and restart the vehicle. I’m not the only person to experience this. The photo uploaded shows the HUD telling me that the ACC is off when it is in fact on. However the system will not engage and set the speed. Yet, I hope I have offered the most details. My suggestion is to rewrite the coding/update for the cars system to detect the cars cruise control feature. OR implement a double click which overrides/automatically turns the CC feature on and SETS the desired speed.
Jan 18, 2022
Cruise control (either in Adaptive Cruise Control or regular) disengages randomly and if you attempt to restart the cruise, the cruise control will not work. The cruise control icon will appear on the center display and beep, with the words "Cruise Control Off", to get this working again, the only way I've found is to stop the car and either put it in park and/or shut off the car or turn it back on. The problem seems to happen at random, and so the dealership at this point can not help me. This does not seem to be an isolated incident as others have been posting online about the exact same issue. ( See the following forum posts on https://www.civic11forum.com/threads/anybody-having-cruise-control-issues.963/ ). Perhaps this is a software issue with the cruise on the new models... Hopefully Honda can get an update out fast! Disappointing that such a dangerous issue exists at launch of the new model...

STEERING,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Steering wheel sticks while driving requiring additional pressure to manipulate the wheel. It was checked at the dealership but was not replicated. Dealer stated they knew the issue was the steering system but couldn’t replicate it so they couldn’t repair it. The front collision system alerts and applies the breaks while cruise control is set randomly with nothing around. These issues have been around for a year or so

Power steering is giving an error code which has disabled front radar and adaptive cruise control as well as lane keep assist. Dealership is refusing to tell me in depth what is wrong with the unit but is insisting I replace it.
Jun 05, 2023
There are two issues that I want to report: 1. While using the adaptive cruise control on the freeway, I was cruising at about 65 MPH and my adaptive cruise control turned off by itself. My car began to decelerate with vehicles approaching my rear bumper rather quickly. I was not able to reengage the adaptive cruise control at all. 2. While driving on the freeway, I noticed my steering was not steady or stable. I would steer just a little bit to maintain my lane and the steering did not respond so I pushed the steering wheel a little more and the steering was sticky. So I pushed harder and the steering did move but it moved more than just enough to maintain my lane so I was weaving in my lane as I tried to make the corrections.
Apr 11, 2023
The Steering feels very sticky after 17k miles and it’s getting worse, it occurs typically during highway speeds, also the lane assist feature is affected greatly by this as it does not work due to the steering having this “sticky” feel to it. moderate to overcorrection of the steering wheel is required while operating the vehicle, this has caused constant swaying putting not only myself at risk but others especially while commuting daily. I feel as though my safety is at dire risk. Dealerships are no help as they say nothing can be done unless a code is popping up, but anyone in the car world knows that steering problems do not Have a particular code of warning. Please investigate the matter ASAP as this could cause a serious life risk

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Civic developed a misfire. Diagnosis at the Honda service center revealed a leaking #2 fuel injector causing fuel wash-down into cylinder #2. This led to fouled & broken spark plugs in cylinders 2 and 3, blown head gasket, scored cylinder wall in cylinder #2, hairline crack in cylinder head and valve damage. Engine and head have been deemed unsalvageable by the Honda service center. Honda has indicated this vehicle will not be covered under TSB A18-025 and Warranty Extension 21-010 despite being the same engine family (L15B7/L15CA) used in 2016-2021 Civics that were completely covered.
Jan 20, 2026
While driving steam started to appear from the engine bay. I pulled over to inspect, lifted up the hood and could hear the fuel line popping and gasoline hissing out. The engine bay spontaneously caught fire. As it ignited all of the gasoline in the air combusted and created a ball of fire in my face as I was looking in the engine bay. The fire was put out by the fire department. An incident report was created. The potential for safety risk was high and could have been worse if I was not on a road where I was able to stop or if it caught fire while I was inside the car. The vehicle has been inspected by Insurance and confirmed to be a total loss. Since nothing was left to visually inspect of the car their investigation came back nonconclusive as to the cause. There were no indication lights that there was anything wrong with the engine.

I purchased a 2022 Civic Sports brand new, in 11/21, and it recently broke down; it is less than two years old and has 14,216 miles. The engine failed, and it broke down in the middle of the highway, and luckily I was able to pull over to safety before being hit by a car. Oil and anti-freeze were leaking out of the vehicle. I called Honda roadside assistance, and the tow driver stated that this was a brand-new car, and it sounded like the rods and engine were knocking. It was towed to a dealership, and they told me it was a metal piece in the machine the technician found. It was a manufacturing defect, and then when I inquired more because I felt replacing an engine on a new car was insufficient because of component issues that could be affected due to the damage. I purchased a new vehicle for the peace of mind. I also purchased during the time of covid and the car shortage. The car was fresh from the manufacturer, and I had to pay extra due to the need. The car was maintained with oil and maintenance from the Honda dealership I purchased the car from. I did not see a recall for my vehicle, and there were no warnings. I had to car services a month and a half before. I have asked for something in writing to see the metal piece, but the dealership is refusing, and they are trying to cover this issue up by issuing a quick fix with an engine.

Few months afyer i bought this car brand new it started leaking oil from valve cover gasket. Took the car u to dealer i was told its normal to leak out which surprised me to hear from service that ots normal to leak oil from calve cover gasket. It was replaced. At 70k miles i syarted seeing oil seeping through bell housing but it wasn't alot so i though it might have spilled during oil change. At 110k miles it is leaking alot and after taking it to repair shop im told that its leaking from rear main seal and its leaking onto hot exhaust. Unfortunately honda wont cover this because of the mileage. Hondas used to be reliable but not anymore.

I had waited several months for a 2022 Honda Civic EX. I had requested either White or Morning Mist. I finally got a call than "it" was in. "It" turned out to be a dark grey. My old lease was running out, so I took the car. I never had a chance to drive any of the 2022 Honda Civic EX models. I did not know anything about the idle stop "feature." I went to the dealership and a product specialist told me it could not be disabled except for the button on the console. After I had the car about 10 days, when it would restart after stopping, the engine would sound like it was choking or not starting well. This "feature" is driving me crazy. I'm 75 years old and usually don't remember to hit the turn-off button when I start the car; then when I do stop, it goes through the re-start process again. That's when I finally remember to hit the button. But I wonder if and when the engine won't start up since it sometimes sounds like it's stalling before it starts. Thank you.

Twice while using the Adaptive cruise control on the interstate my vehicle gave me a "BRAKE" warning and automatically applied hard braking on my vehicle even though this was at 0430 in the morning and no cars present on the interstate. I too pressed the brake and cancel on the steering wheel to try and disengage the Adaptive cruise control, so I could regain control of my vehicle. The first time it happened, it caught me off guard. The second time it happened, I was waiting for it. I drove with my hand able to disengage cruise control as soon as it would happen. This was an attempt to verify if the first time was a fluke or if there was a real problem. I have not used my cruise control since because I cannot trust it. Luckily these were when the traffic was light on the interstate and it did not cause a wreck.
Feb 25, 2022
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) has been randomly shutting off out of nowhere during my drive. This has been happening off and on for two months and is NOT happening due to the reasons it could happen in the owners manual. It will not turn back on unless I pull over and shut off the car or place the transmission into park which forces me to leave a highway. Today without ACC even on I get 5 warnings including collision mitigation brake system failure and to see a dealer (pictures attached for all 5 warnings that came on the dashboard today). I saw Rudolph Honda in El Paso TX today and the service center lady told me she is aware of this problem and already tried to diagnose another 2022 Civic with no luck and there are no rentals to help me leave my car for further diagnostics and i cannot be seen for a week at Borman Honda in Las Cruces NM nearby where I live. So Honda is putting me out for my time and money i give them for this faulty ACC and related safety systems. I feel unsafe as this shuts off out of no where and could cause me to get rear-ended as last time this happened the car suddenly decelerated with someone behind me. This car is available for inspection.

STEERING,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE

This Incident occurs daily and poses a SEVERE risk to not only myself but other vehicles on the road, with ADAS systems off the 11th gen civics seem to have a mind of its own. When traveling above 40 Mph on a long curvy road/highway or raining, the steering wheel becomes "Notchy" and will lock in place for moments at a time. The only way to gain control of the steering wheel is to apply extra force and once applied the steering wheel is released and causes the driver to overcorrect. I purchased my civic 2 months ago purely for its reliability and the safety ratings given by the NHSTA. Honda has initially released the service bulletin to address their faulty replacement racks stating "certain service part electric power steering (EPS) gearbox assemblies were not made to proper specification. " In reality this is a LIE they are trying to say the scope is less than 5% of their vehicles but the truth is that every single vehicle sold with this same rack has or will in the short future report this issue, some drivers think it is only "annoying" and some dealers are telling customers its "Normal" I am completely appalled that there has not been a Stop-sale issued for this as the main component of a car is the steering and if that is faulty than what else matters! they have managed to put the same rack in multiple vehicles in the last few years and you wont begin to experience the issue unless you drive (few 1,000MI on the car) longer than 45 minutes. Civic Type R's are less likely to experience this as that vehicle uses a different rack (Probably more $). Owners who have gotten a replacement eps system are finding the issue to reoccur after 12 months. This points to the fact that not only is this a manufacturing/Quality issue but a PURLEY FAILED Engineering design. I have an appt with a dealer but they will replace the rack with another faulty one, Honda needs to shut everything down and put the safety of their customers first before we all end up dead or kill someone.

When starting my car, it struggles to start and then the emissions system light stays on, warning of engine power being affected. The car sputters when driving. The lane departure light stays on, as well as the braking system light, which warns of potential problems with braking. My safety is at risk when trying to accelerate and sputtering instead. Since the problem started today, December 22, I can’t go to the dealer until after Christmas. No one else has inspected the vehicle yet. There were no other warnings, however steering did feel strange, starting a couple of days ago.
Dec 22, 2023
I purchased my 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport in November of 2021. I currently have 7,000 miles on my vehicle. 2 months ago, I noticed a slight sticky feeling with my steering wheel. This almost feels like I am in a constant rut and having to make slight but hard pulls at the steering wheel to make any small adjustment. This occurs when I am going roughly 40 miles per hour or higher. At first, it felt like my LKA was on but when I saw that it wasn’t it brought concern. I had a moment a couple of weeks ago where my steering wheel almost ran my husband and I into the right lane. I am worried since there have been multiple reports of others having this same issue and it got worse. I also had a moment on December 31st, 2022 where my car was put into adaptive cruise control around 70 mph and was shut off suddenly. I was not given the option to reengage the cruise control until after my car was turned off and on again. My car is currently at the dealership for these issues as we speak and my technician has said they don’t feel what I am talking about. This has made me feel unsafe to drive my vehicle and hope this complaint can join the others and help Honda send out a recall for this issue. 169 complaints about that same thing on here is a big deal. So is the thousands of Reddit threads I have found stating this same problem. Please Honda, do better and call this in or unfortunately you will be met with a lot of lawsuits I am afraid.

As I attempted to turn my steering wheel to exit interstate I-90 East, the steering wheel became increasingly hard to control and I heard a popping noise in my front driver side tire. My vehicle slid into the curb, resulting in the front driver side fender damage, tire damage, axel damage, and 3 deployed airbags. The vehicle’s electric power steering failed and it is available for inspection. Both mine and my mom’s safety were at risk, however no injuries occurred. I have not received a recall notice at all and the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the power steering issue before this occurred.

The TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) never illuminated to let me know I had a flat tire, and still didn't illuminate even after the entire tread was ripped off the sidewall of the tire. The front left tire was the one that went flat, and had I not been astute to the vehicles behavior, I could have been in a severe accident, as it is a front tire. I noticed the car pulling left a little, but thought it was due to the construction being done to repave the highway. After about 10 minutes of driving, I felt and heard the thumping of a flat tire. I had to drive a few miles to safely exit the highway when I heard the loud bang of the tread separating from the rim and hitting the underside of the car and wheelwell. For the tread to have been completely sheared off, I must have been driving on a flat for a considerable amount of time. The entire time, the TPMS never illuminated to warn of a flat or of low tire pressure. When I got to the dealership, the service writer told me the TPMS doesn't warn of a blowout. I found that to be a strange comment, because I clearly didn't have a blowout. The car was pulling for a little while (over 10 minutes), and then it started the notorious thumping of a flat tire before the tread eventually ripped apart. I couldn't find anywhere in the 2022 Honda Civic Sedan owners manual that states anything to support the service writer. Only that it measures even tire pressure, which it obviously wouldn't have had, so the TPMS should have come on. Even if the TPMS didn't warn prior to a flat, I think it should have illuminated when the tread totally separated from the sidewall of the tire, and it did not. I sat with the car running for at least 20-25 minutes after getting off the highway, and it still never illuminated. From what the Ray Price Honda dealership service writer said, it didn't record any errors either.

Went to start my car one night after it had been perfectly fine throughout the day when 5 warning lights came on, Lane Keeping assist system, Collision mitigation braking system, Road Departure mitigation system. Auto High Beam problem and Adaptive Cruise Control system problem. I immediately went online to see how i could possibly fix the problem and found numerous message boards with people with fairly new low mileage Hondas complaining about the same issue and stating either various completely different solutions or no luck finding a solution. 10/19/2023 NHTSA recall 23V-704, Manufacturer recall YFW 10/28/2023--I rented a 2022 Honda Civic from National at airport. Leaving the airport initially I didn't notice an issue. But after traveling several miles at highway speeds, on changing lanes or making minor adjustments in direction, I noticed the steering wheel felt like it would stick, then release allowing the car to change direction, stick, then release allowing the car to change direction. This happened with each adjustment of the steering wheel. This did not occur driving at slower speeds. 11/2/2023--I had driven west from Miami Beach on Tamiami US Highway 41 and had entered Cypress National Preserve. I had reached about the midpoint between Miami Beach and Naples, missed the left turn to highway 94. Realizing I had missed my turn, I was driving about 45 mph looking for somewhere I could safely turnaround. I saw a road off to the left, slowed to make a left hand turn. While continuing to brake, I started to make the left hand turn. About 30-45 degrees into the turn, the car stopped responding to my turning the steering wheel. LOST STEERING. Car was headed for the ditch and guard rail. I continued to turn the steering wheel left but it had no effect. I continued to brake and slowed the car as I went through the ditch before hitting the guard rail. I did not hit the steering column, my passenger did not hit the windshield. The airbags did not open. My phone automatically called 911. A couple from Tennessee stopped to help us. This happened at dusk and it quickly became very dark. They stayed with us over 2 hours until National's tow truck arrived and then they drove us back to our hotel, 50+ miles each direction out of their way. The tow truck could only take one of us and we could not get Uber or Lyft to go that far out of Miami. No warning lights or messages prior. As of 12/31/2023 NHTSA website indicates this recall still incomplete.

On September 17, 2023, while traveling at 65 mph on the highway, my car's steering suddenly pulled, resulting in a blown front passenger tire. The impact forced the car into construction barriers, damaging the passenger side mirror. Due to construction constraints, finding a safe spot to pull over was challenging, so I drove a short distance to assess the damage. Upon inspection, the tire was shredded, the rim damaged, and the passenger mirror torn off, with additional harm to the paint and body. AAA installed the spare tire. This incident wasn't isolated; recurring issues with the steering, including a September 22, 2022 incident where the car unexpectedly veered into a curb, had been ongoing since leasing the car on September 20, 2022. After the recent highway incident, concerns heightened when the spare tire blew out while awaiting a new tire and rim from the Honda dealership. The car was towed to the dealership, revealing extensive work needed on the steering rack and other components. Despite the car having only 11K miles, the dealership estimated approximately $8K for repairs. Investigating further, I discovered a recent recall, including my VIN. However, the dealership was unaware of the recall, and their attempt to address the issue did not align with its specifics. They stated that despite my VIN being included, my steering column is not covered under the recall. This lack of awareness, coupled with over 440 similar incidents reported for 2022 Honda Civic Sports Sedans, raises concerns about the manufacturer's understanding of the problem's magnitude. There is a defect with my car. Honda included it in the recall, should further investigate, assume responsibility and correct as part of the recall or manufacturer's warranty. Despite the ordeal, I am grateful for regaining control on the highway and safely maneuvering off the road without harm to myself or other vehicles.

The electronic power steering system in the Honda Civic is failing. Steering wheel frequently “sticks” causing the driver to oversteer, in order to “unstick” the power steering mechanism. Power steering is notchy and sticky feeling, increasing in persistence. The vehicle feels unstable, thus unsafe for continued driving.
Dec 27, 2023
Since I've owned the car, when driving above 40 mph(when LKAS may engage), with LKAS off, the steering becomes statically neutral...i.e in a turn the steering wheel will remain in the turned position when pressure on the wheel is reduced. In this case the steering wheel( as well as the front wheels themselves) should straighten out as you continue to move. This is dangerous. Also, at highway speeds, in order to maintain the center of your lane small inputs to the steering wheel are normally required. In this vehicle, there is resistance to these small inputs. When the force of your input finally overcomes the resistance in the steering wheel the wheel turns more dramatically than intended(overcorrection). This is also dangerous. This also occurs with LKAS off. It's almost like LKAS engages the steering column preemptively above 40 mph but in a dangerous manner.

The lane keep assist of the car is supposed to keep the car centered when enabled. It does this job well most of the time however a few times, the car keep wanting to hug the right lane line to the point where lane departure alert starts beeping. In summary the car thinks the center is closer towards the right lane line to the point where lane departure alert warning comes on. As the driver you have to actively hold the steering to keep it centered since the system will keep fighting you to gravitate towards the right lane line. This issue occurred twice as of this date with no specific pattern observed that might trigger it. The abnormal behavior is observed when the system is engaged for a while in its normal operation. This can pose a safety issue if the car suddenly drifts to the right rather keep it centered in the lane since it occurs without warning. No warning lights or alerts come in the car when this abnormal behavior occurs. However the dashboard (sport touring digital cluster) visualization also shows the car deviating towards the right lane line during this behavior indicating the car's camera also sees this abnormal behavior but the lane keeping logic somehow is issuing the wrong control commands. Plan to show it to a dealer soon.

Apr 02, 2023
On Friday January 27th, I was driving approximately 65mph when the steering wheel got stuck to the right, causing me to run off the road. I hit a rut where the road meets the grass and it caused a couple of my wheel weights to fall off. Initially the lane keep was on, but I turned it off as it started pulling to the right. The car still proceeded to pull continuously until I cut it off, and then started to appear to work normally for a short period afterwards. The steering wheel already sticks in the center on most days. Now, there’s issues stopping, I’m guessing from the rut I hit. The dealer that I bought it from swears that there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle and that I’m just a difficult customer. I’ve already had it up to the dealership 5 times. There’s 88 other people already who agree with me. I have a case with American Honda Corporate, but they only agree with what the dealer tells them. This poses a major safety hazard, and it needs to be recalled before someone gets killed.

While driving on the freeway at 75 mph, the Adaptive Cruise Control was engaged, and when commnig up behind a slower moving truck in the slow lane, our car decelerated to match it's speed. I then went to pass the truck after several vehicles passed us on the left. As soon as I started to change lanes, the cruise control shut itself off and the car started to slow down with several more cars now right behind us in the fast lane. Once we were past the truck and back in the slow lane, I tried to re-engage the ACC, which refused to turn back on. It only gave a beep and showed an icon on the display that said ACC was off. (it was not off). The ACC would only start working again after we had gotten off the freeway and stoped the car. On this same trip, the ACC turned itself off, on about 6 or 7 different occasions. There was also a time when I was following a vehicle with ACC on, following at medium distance, and another vehicle sped past me on the left, and darted between our car and the one we had been following, and continued past that vehicle on the right side. As this other car passed between us and through, our car suddenly sped way up, forcing me to slam on the brakes so we wouldn't rear-end the vehicle in front of us. At this point, I do not trust the ACC, or any of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in this car, and will NOT be using them unless Honda makes some fixes. (and even then, I will be wary) Prior to this trip, my wife was in the car, parked, with engine off, using the radio to listen to a pod-cast via her phone (plugged into the usb) and the car suddenly gave her a warning message that all of the Driver Assist functions were disabled, and to please see the dealer. We took it in, and they said there were known issues with some of the cameras and they would replace ours when they get one in. They still haven't got one in, however, everything started working again on it's own after the dealer had looked at it.

While driving on a freeway, the cruise control will beep and then automatically and abruptly turn off and it will not turn back on. I have reported this to American Honda - My driver car lock has been not working properly since 2024. It will intermittently not work to unlock the driver's door. Also, it will intermittently not lock my car automatically when I leave the vehicle with the key fob. The first time I took the vehicle in - they replaced the front door power latch. Since then, I took it in on May 2025 - they said since the car does it intermittently, they cannot fix it. Well, I just took the car back today, 12/09/25 - and I am leaving it there until they can find out what is the problem. In a emergency, if I needed to open my driver's door, to avoid a dangerous situation, and could not, I would be harmed. I have taken videos, and showed the dealer to help identify the issue. American Honda said to take it back to the dealer and have them fix it. I would like my vehicle fixed or bought back from me.

The dealer kept the car overnight stating that they were too busy on 10/14/24 and promised me that they will provide alternate vehicle on 10/15/24 morning as per my phone call. I went to the dealership on the 15th at 8:50 AM to pick up the alternate vehicle, the service advisor said I can take my vehicle since he had changed the battery and it was safe to drive and did not provide me the invoice for the replaced battery. I asked the service advisor for the diagnostic report and he informed me that everything was okay in the report. I insisted on taking the print out of the diagnostic report and had to wait to collect it. Seeing the time on the report I am able to understand that they ran the diagnostic report while I was waiting. After driving my vehicle from the dealership and not having new battery invoice in my hand I called Honda motor company customer service and narrated my dealership visit details along with being uncomfortable on the safety of the vehicle. I didn't get any help from them as well. They created a case number for me. They said that someone will reach out to me and no one has till date. If you need any other information please feel free to contact me.

I got my recall done already, however, the problem is getting worst after 2 weeks of regular driving. The steering will suddenly gets hard/stiff when driving. It makes it hard to turn and it's dangerous when driving on freeway. I almost got into an accident on the freeway because the car in the front change lane last minute without signalling, and at the time my stiff steering acting up and cause the delay of turning.

My 2022 Honda Civic has been having issues with the EPS Rack and Parts. There has been a recall on this part on the Honda Civics and unfortunately my vehicle was not on the list of cars that was made in the manufacturing time. My car is extremely hard to turn the steering wheel while driving and it causes my cruise control steering system to not work correctly almost causing many accidents. I have also had to buy 2 new sets of tires as it has caused them to wear down faster. Ive had alignments and the car will still steer me to the right direction. The front tires rub very harshly when I need to make a turn. When turning it makes many noises. When I go start to go about 45mph the car will start shaking very harshly until 80mph. The car started to shake and make clunking noises about 6 months in to me having the vehicle and the Honda dealership said it was normal and the issues continued to get worse. As soon as I saw the recall come out I quickly scheduled an appointment for it to be looked at just for my specific car to not be on the list but have all issues that the recall is creating on these vehicles. This is very dangerous as I have small children and the issues continue to worsen.

When driving at high way speeds my steering wheel has been sticking which makes minor corrections much more difficult while at speed. With having to put in more effort to steer this could lead to an overcorrection in the turn which is a huge safety concern. This is a different issue than the current recall of the faulty EPS repair part being faulty. This is the original part in the car that is having the issue with the EPS gearbox or motor.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at 56 MPH, the steering wheel independently shifted to the left as the contact lost control of the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact swerved back and forth in an attempt to regain control of the vehicle; as a result, the contact hit several highway median divider poles. The air bags did not deploy during the failure. The contact sustained minor back and shoulder pain but did not seek medical attention. A police report was filed. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the rear passenger side tire was damaged and had leaned inward toward the axle. Despite the failure, the contact managed to drive the vehicle home at a low rate of speed. The next day, the vehicle was towed to an independent body shop to repair the front-end damage to the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V704000 (Steering). A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

STEERING,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
First issue was a major evap leak that took several attempts and months for them to repair resulting in having to drive around with a check engine light. Reason this is concerning is that when the check engine light is on the advanced safety systems are disabled. They had to replace the gas tank fuel filler neck because it was not closing properly. I was told by Honda corporate that "this is not posing a significant risk to the occupants of the vehicle", but when fuel is not being properly contained in the tank, and the safety features don't work I think otherwise. Now, there is a steering rack issue where at high speeds the steering is grabbing causing a possibility for overcorrection. Honda has known about our issues since June of 2022 and Honda corporate has been delaying official lemon law claims since December of 2022 where I then hired an attorney. Honda corporate is now ignoring the attorney and our only recourse is to file a lawsuit. I can't in good conscience sell the car to endanger the public. My only concern is that there are so many of these falling apart on the road.

Less than 5,000 miles on car. Brake pedal, when pushing it down, began to vibrate / not go down smoothly. After a couple days of this, my brakes made a loud grinding sound when stopping or releasing the brake. Normally brakes will start to squeak before you reach a grinding sound. Again, less than 5,000 miles on this car, so way too soon to be dealing with this issue. Wiper fluid for the front has NEVER worked, even when full. It works for the back. I asked the techs who changed my oil to check it out and they could not find the issue; they recommended I take it to the dealership and suggested it may be a recall. I am getting it serviced tomorrow at a Honda service repair location near me. They said they will cover it since it is under the 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty. I hope that is true.

I heard a loud noise when my tire flew off which then required me to immediately stop.

STEERING,SUSPENSION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

While driving my car on the open highway, I noticed that the steering wheel became somewhat sticky and resistant. This started in September of 2022 and the problem has become increasingly worse. The steering wheel requires excessive force to turn at speeds above 40mph, making micro-adjustments to the steering very difficult and causes oversteering. If there is a bend in the road and I turn the steering wheel, it sticks when trying to straighten the wheel out. It requires additional force to break the sticking point and get the car straightened back out. The safety concern is related to the straightening back out, in some cases it takes considerable effort and requires control to not over power into crossing the line of the lane. I also have concerns of a lock up and causing an accident that could harm me as well as others. Currently, I am not driving my new car due to the fear of an accident. There are zero warnings appears when this happens, so there is no way to prepare for it. I have contacted my local Honda dealership as well as America Honda (corporate office) to complain about this issue. The dealership informed me that the steering rack needs to be replaced. Honda is not able to provide an ETA on the part, nor are they willing to provide a loaner car. Honda told us that we could pick the car back up and continue to drive it until it is repaired. Honda is not concerned about the danger to customers. Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is pulling info together to file a class action lawsuit since this issue is happening to so many Honda Civic owners. It should not take someone dying for Honda to resolve this issue with no expense to the customer. We are currently making payments on a new Honda that my son is scared to drive. https://lemonexpert.com/vehicle-bulletins/2022-honda-civic-steering-system-defects/. https://classlawdc.com/2022/12/08/2022-honda-civic-steering-defect/ https://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/civic/2022/steering-problems.php

Brakes are relatively hard to press and bring the car to stop, the pedal is also located high, and as an Uber driver it makes it difficult to brake constantly. I am getting knee pain and foot pain. The seat is built in an angel. if I bring the seat low, my last bone of spine goes into the seat and hurts. if I bring the seat high, I get hip pain. The steering is somehow stiff to rotate even with lane departure being turned off. I am getting finger joint pain and elbow pain.

There are issues with steering possible lane assist. I took it to Honda to be accessed, initially the rep tried to tell me there was nothing wrong/ didn’t understand the issues I was having. Then I was told it was a small hose that was constantly triggering lane assist feature and that they needed to take the dash apart and install this part they claim they special ordered. I left my car at the service center for several days. They reported they had replaced defective part And the issue had been resolved however, It’s been 2 weeks and the car is worse than before. The steering wheel is stiffer than before and makes a clicking sound when turning any direction. I’m afraid of an accident because the issue forces the driver to constantly. 2022 Honda Civic Sport current milage: 21,000 miles. I have had this car since September 2021. Ever since my first day of ownership, the LKAS system for assisting the driver with lane guidance constantly fights me. Often, the car turns the steering wheel by itself to hug the left lane line, often passing over the line and causing the Lane Departure warning to activate, shaking the steering wheel. This issue has occurred on the right lane line as well, but typically the issue is with the left lane line for my car. This happens every time I drive my car. I took my 2022 Honda Civic Sport to a Honda dealership about a year ago to look at the lane departure issue. The mechanics were able to replicate the issue, however nobody knew what to do as no codes were supplied by the car. The employees acted as if I was stupid as I explained my issue, with video proof, however their doubt changed when their test drive concluded. I was later informed by Honda dealership employees that the car was "supposed to guide towards the lane lines." I am not confident that any car is "supposed" to do anything as dangerous as the 2022 Honda Civic Sport LKAS system; this issue will increase the likelihood of accidental sideswipes on multi-lane roads, or loss of control in poor road conditions as you have to yank on the very stiff steering wheel and constantly apply pressure to oppose the LKAS system. Another issue with the same 2022 Honda Civic Sport is that the ACC system malfunctions. For no reason at all, in perfect driving conditions and no warnings at all, cruise control will turn itself off. This is dangerous as I do not anticipate the deactivation of the system, leading the car to significantly decrease in speed on the interstate without. The system cannot be reactivated until the car is recycled; the vehicle must be pulled off the road to correct this problem. Nobody at the dealership knows what to do about the cars they sell.
