AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON SO I TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THE ISSUE WAS WITH MY DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO RUN MORE TESTS TO PIN POINT THE PROBLEM. OF COURSE THESE TEST WE'RE NOT FREE OF CHARGE SO I DECLINED THEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT NEITHER AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. HOW THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED BLOWS ME AWAY.

SAME PROBLEM AS OTHERS. "AIR BAG" WARNING STAYS LIGHTED NO MATTER WHAT. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT PEOPLE ARE DISCOVERING THAT IT'S THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR AND THAT THE REPAIR IS $1000. THEY HAVE RECALLED THIS SAME PART ON SONATAS (SAME YEAR) BUT NOT HE ACCENTS. WE'RE TOLD THAT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WORK IF THIS LIGHT IS ON. PLEASE HELP!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 HYUNDAI ACCENT. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE DRIVER WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIR BAGS EMITTED SHRAPNEL, BUT THERE WAS NO TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEMICAL BURN INJURIES AND MINOR CUTS/ABRASIONS FROM THE METAL FRAGMENTS FROM THE AIR BAG. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

DRIVERS SIDE VANITY MIRROR WOULDNT STAY UP (LIKE SO MANY OTHERS) LESS THEN 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING FROM USED CAR DEALERSHIP (2007 ACCENT, BOUGHT IN 2016). SINCE THE THING WOULDNT STAY UP WHILE DRIVING AND I HAD SOMEONE FOLLOWING ME TO GET SOMEPLACE THEY NEEDED TO BE ASAP, I JUST RIPPED THE DARN THING OFF BECAUSE IT WAS ALREADY CRACKED ON THE SUPPORT BAR. IT CAME RIGHT OFF WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT REQUIRED. I DONT USE IT SO I HAVE NO INTENTION OF HAVING IT FIXED USING VELCRO TO HOLD IT UP AFTER ITS PUT BACK IN PLACE. I REMOVED THE WIRING AND BAR ATTACHMENT. IM JUST GRATEFUL THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AT THE TIME, SO THERE WAS LITTLE CHANCE OF AN ACCIDENT (OTHER THAN ACCIDENTAL DRIFT TO THE SIDE).

WHILE APPROACHING INTERSECTION WITH GREEN LIGHT, DRIVERS VISOR FELL DOWN AND COMPLETELY BLOCKED VISABILITY. LIGHT CHANGED CAUSING THREE CAR ACCIDENT. I WAS HOSPITALIZED DUE TO INJURY AND AM NOW TALKING TO AN ATTORNEY ABOUT SUING HYUNDAI AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED NOR HAVE AUTO OWNERS BEEN ADVISED OF ISSUE. FROM SEARCHING WEB THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF HYUNDAI VEHICLES WHICH VARY IN YEAR OF CAR THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE. I TOOK MY CAR BACK ON MONDAY, JULY 23, 2007 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEY SAID THEY HOOKED IT UP TO DIAGNOSTIC MACHINES AND IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN THEY WERE TOLD BY HYUNDAI TO LET IT SIT OVER NIGHT. UNDERSIDE, WHEEL WELLS, AND NOW BODY OF CAR ARE RUSTING OUT. THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE RUSTING. A MECHANIC ASKED WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO THE CAR AND IF IT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR A LONG TIME. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN SITTING AND IS DRIVEN UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS FOR MOSTLY TO AND FROM WORK. THE MECHANIC STATED HE'D NOT SEEN SUCH BAD RUSTING LIKE THAT.

PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF UPON TRYING TO OPEN, CONTACTED MANUFACTURER WAS TOLD THERE IS A RECALL BUT NOT FOR THE MONTH MY CAR WAS MADE. (6 MONTHS AGO) I PAID TO HAVE THAT DOOR HANDLE FIXED. YESTERDAY I WENT TO ENTER THE DRIVER SIDE, SAME THING HAPPENED, SOMETHING SNAPS AND FALLS INSIDE THE DOOR AND THE HANDLE IS NOT LONGER ABLE TO BE USED . THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOT RUNNING DURING BOTH SITUATIONS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THESE FEELINGS WERE ONLY EXPERIENCED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A POWDER RESIDUE ON THE RIM OF THE SPARE TIRE. WHEN THE TRUNK WAS OPENED, THE RUBBER SEAL AROUND THE TRUNK SEEMED TO BE BREAKING DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CENTRAL VALLEY VOLKSWAGEN HYUNDAI (209-323-2700) LOCATED AT 4620 MCHENRY AVE, MODESTO, CA 95356) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR AND THE VALVE STEM TO AVOID A LEAK. THE MECHANIC ALSO TOPPED OFF THE OIL AND FREON, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE SAME DEALER AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION. THE MANAGER GAVE THE CONTACT THE OPTION TO EITHER RECEIVE A REFUND FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST OR TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE CONTACT CHOSE TO GET A REFUND. THE FAILURE WAS NOT RESOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,240.

The car loses power randomly. It typically happens at a stop light or a stop sign, usually within the first 10-15 mins of starting the car. It hasn’t happened after or while the car is driven for a long period of time. However, it has happened while getting on to the highway and while making turns into intersections. When the car loses power, there is no warning. Sometimes, it is hard to put the car into park and restart the car when it loses power. Oddly, however, when it loses power/ stalls/ shuts off, if the radio or other devices are on, they stay on. Symbols that appear on the dash when the car shuts down include the engine, oil, and battery lights. These lights also come on when you first cycle to start the car. We’ve taken the car to a Hyundai dealership and they said that they can’t find any codes, when they connect the car to a code reader.

I MADE APPOINTMENT ON PHONE WITH ONLY HYUNDAI CERTIFIED SERVICE DEALER NEAR MY HOME 3-2017AND DROVE TO CHICO (70 MILES AWAY). THEY SAID IT MUST BE BATTERY AND CHARGED ME FOR A NEW BATTERY. I CALLED THEM AROUND APRIL 1, 2017 TELLING THEM LIGHT WAS STILL COMING ON AND THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BUY A WHOLE NEW SEAT AND SYSTEM, NO SAFETY ISSUE RECOGNIZED BY HYUNDAI, THEREFORE I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO ENTIRE COST REGARDLESS OF SAFETY ISSUES. I CALLED HYUNDAI USA WHICH GAVE ME A CASE # 1012618 BUT SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON FILE WITH HYUNDAI AND I COULD FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. I AM SENDING THEM A COPY OF WHAT I AM FILING WITH YOU. I LOOKED UP OTHER HYUNDAI ACCENT 2007 COMPLAINTS AND HYUNDAI SAID THERE'S NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE A RECALL. A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR AGREED TO REPLACE ITEMS FOR MY PAID INVOICE AMOUNT ENCLOSED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE ERROR CODES AND JUST TURNED OFF THE AIR BAG LIGHT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. IN DECEMBER OF 2007, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLEANED THE CONNECTION AND CLEARED THE CODES. ON JANUARY 14, 2008, THE FAILURE RECURRED A THIRD TIME. THE DEALER CLEARED THE ERROR CODES AND ORDERED PARTS FOR THE SEAT BELTS, WHICH REGULATED THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER AND THE DEALER INSTALLED THE PART FOR THE SENSOR. NEXT, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT BEGAN ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE CONTACT WHO IS 5'7 AND 118 LBS WOULD SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE WEIGHT REGULATIONS (THE WEIGHT SOMEONE SHOULD BE FOR THE LIGHT NOT TO ILLUMINATE). THEY FURTHER STATED THAT THEY COULD PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER AFFAIRS STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR SHOULD ENGAGE AT 130-140 LBS, WHILE ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE STATED THE AIR BAG SENSOR SHOULD ENGAGE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 90 AND 120 LBS. ANOTHER DEPARTMENT AGREED WITH CONSUMER AFFAIRS REGARDING THE WEIGHT. AS OF JANUARY OF 2008, THERE WAS MOISTURE IN THE TAIL LIGHTS, WHICH COULD CAUSE POOR ILLUMINATION. THE DEALER REPLACED THEM, BUT INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE MAY RECUR. IN ADDITION, THE BATTERY FAILED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING POSSIBLY DRAINING THE BATTERY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. THE BATTERY WAS TESTED AND APPEARED TO BE FINE. I RENTED A HYUNDAI ACCENT, BRAND NEW ON 1/13/08 IN SINT MAARTEN,NA FOR 4 WEEKS FROM ACE[PANORAMIC] RENT A CAR CONTRACT NUMBER 589ZBB971. ON 2/7/08 I ARRIVED AT MY TIMESHARE, THE ATRIUM ON BILLY FOLEY ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 9:45 PM AND STOPPED THE CAR TO GET OUT AND USE A KEY TO OPEN THE GARAGE CROSSBAR BEFORE ENTERING. I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND PUT THE CAR IN THE DRIVE GEAR AND WITH MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR TOOK OFF SPEEDING UP EVEN AS I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE BRAKE DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I MADE A QUICK TURN AND HIT A CEMENT ABUTMENT INJURING MYSELF AND MY WIFE. IT IS THE MOST HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
