AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON ONE DAY. I WAS INFORMED THE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR HAD FAILED AND WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM AS THE AIRBAG WOULDN'T DEPLOY CORRECTLY IF SOMEONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT. RECENTLY LEARNED IT WAS A RECALL FOR SOME KIA MODELS THROUGH A NOTICE FOR MY KIA SEDONA, BUT MY MODEL WASN'T INCLUDED ALTHOUGH THE ISSUE IS IDENTICAL.

"HYUNDAI RECALL" A COUPLE YEARS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN AND BLOCKED MY VIEW OF DRIVING. IT WAS AN UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATION BECAUSE I HAD TO HOLD UP THE VISOR WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE REST OF THE WAY HOME, THANKFULLY IT WAS NOT A MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION. EVENTUALLY WHEN I GOT HOME, I TRIED TO FIX IT MYSELF, AND IT HELD UP FOR A WHILE, BUT EVENTUALLY FELL OFF AGAIN, SO I ENDED UP HAVING TO RIP IT OFF ALTOGETHER SINCE IT WAS SUCH AN IMPAIRMENT WHILST DRIVING. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE LEFT SIDE VISOR AND LUCKILY I WAS AT MY GRANDPAS HOUSE AND HE FIGURED OUT HOW TO TAKE THE VISOR OFF WITHOUT RIPPING IT OFF, SO THE WIRING CLIPS ARE STILL INTACT. NOW THAT I AM MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT CARS I WAS JUST GOING TO BUY NEW VISORS AND TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM MYSELF, BUT THEY ARE OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE, AND FRANKLY THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HYUNDAI SHOULD PAY TO FIX. AFTER DOING SOME LOOKING ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER DISSATISFIED HYUNDAI CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE SUN VISOR. ALL I WANT IS FOR HYUNDAI TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE.

I WAS DONE SHOPPING AND STARTING THE CAR, THE SUN WAS IN MY EYES SO I PULLED THE SUN VISOR DOWN AND I HEARD A GRATING NOISE AND THE VISOR POPPED OUT OF THE CEILING AND HUNG BY THE WIRES, IT APPEARS THE PLASTIC PIECE IT SCREWS INTO SNAPPED IN HALF, I HAD TO HOLD THE VISOR WITH 1 HAND AS IT WAS IN MY LINE OF VISION AS I DROVE HOME. The rear windshield shattered for no reason. Because of the tint we had installed it stayed intact but you can't see through it. The car is in my driveway if you want to see it, but I have an appointment for Safelite to repair it on Monday, Dec 6, 2021. No, it has not been inspected by the police or anyone else. Safelite will be able to tell what happened when they come out. My husband was at work and the car was parked, when he came out to get in that is when he noticed it. There was no one else near where he parked his car and no evidence of anyone being near the car.

NOTHING HAPPENED BUT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY CAR.

I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN OCT. 2014 AND IT HAD OVER 89,000 MILES ON IT. TWO MONTHS AFTER RECEIVING THIS VEHICLE, I TOOK IT TO MIDAS TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF CORROSION COMING FROM THE OIL CHAMBER. HE FLUSHED IT OUT AND CHANGED THE OIL. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR TWO MORE MONTHS, I NOTICED SOME HESITATION WHILE EXCELLERATING. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE CAR AND HE TOLD ME I NEEDED TO CHANGE MY SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES, WHICH I DID. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER, THE CAR STARTED HESITATING AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THAN FIVE MPH. I HAD TO HAVE THIS CAR TOWED HOME. THIS VEHICLE WAS FINANCED FOR $10,023 AND I'M ON A FIXED INCOME. I HAD ALREADY MADE CAR PAYMENTS TOTALLING OVER $3000. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS CAR HAS INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE. DIAGNOSIS: 2 BAD CYLINDERS AND A MELTED CATALYTIC CONVERTER. PRICE TO REPAIR: $2058. FOR THE SECOND TIME, I HAD TO HAVE THIS CAR TOWED TO MY HOME, AND IT HAS BEEN SITTING THERE EVER SINCE. I'M CONTEMPLATING WHETHER I SHOULD INVEST ANY MORE MONEY IN THIS CAR BECAUSE I'M AFRAID THAT I'M GOING TO CONTINUE HAVING PROBLEMS. BESIDES I DON'T HAVE $2058 FOR ANOTHER ENGINE AND CONVERTER. I RECEIVED WRITTEN NOTIFICATION THIS NOVEMBER THAT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE PER MY VIN NUMBER IS ON THE RECALL LIST. I HAVE NO WAY TO TAKE IT IN BECAUSE IT DOESN'T RUN. THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE WORSE INVESTMENT I'VE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. I'VE NOTIFIED THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CAR. I BELIEVE THESE CARS SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF OF THE ROAD DUE TO THE MANY HAZARDS THEY POSE. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KOREAN VEHICLE. FOR NOW ON, I WILL ONLY PURCHASE AMERICAN MADE CARS IF ONLYFOR SAFETY REASONS. CAN I GET A REFUND ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK?

BREAK LIGHT RECALL - LOCATION MOUNT VERNON, OHIO - DATE 12-12-2015 I WAS DRIVING TO A CHRISTMAS EVENT AND WAS PULLED OVER BY A STATE HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER DUE TO MY BREAKLIGHTS BEING OUT. I PULLED OVER IN THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND HAD MY BOYFRIEND LOOK AT IT. HE SAID THERE IS A LITTLE SWITCH BEHIND THE BREAK AREA THAT WAS STUCK. I HAVE A 2009 HYNDAI ACCENT. MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE GOING ON AND OFF. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR BRAKE LIGHT SWITCHES. I CALLED MY LOCAL HYNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT MY VIN # WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL. LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY DID NOT MAKE THE RECALL LARGE ENOUGH TO COVER ALL THE CARS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS MALFUNCTION. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW WANTING $175.00 TO REPLACE THIS. THE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. THERE IS A PLASTIC PART INSIDE THAT HOLDS IT IN PLACE AND THAT APPARENTLY BROKE. THE SUN VISOR IS NOT USABLE AND JUST HANGS DOWN OBSCURING MY FIELD OF VIEW. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT SWITCHES. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AND IT WAS FOUND THAT I HAD A FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. HYUNDAI CLAIMS THAT MY VIN WAS NOT AFFECTED ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF MY CAR FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V113000

THE BRAKES LINES (BOTH FRONT AND REAR) FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A 4 LANE ROAD (SPEED LIMIT 35MPH) WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN I WAS STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (LUCKILY I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY OR NEEDED TO MAKE A QUICK STOP BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR). I NOTICED DRIPPING FLUID (BRAKE FLUID) COMING FROM THE MIDDLE OF MY CAR. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO AN AUTO MECHANIC'S SHOP WHERE THEY INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND BRAKE LINES. BOTH MY FRONT AND REAR BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND ROTTEN OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT THE BRAKE LINES ROTTED AWAY WHERE THERE WAS NO COATING. MY CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 100,000 MILES AND A PART LIKE THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED ME. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO NOT COAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE.

The contact owned a 2009 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact’s girlfriend then coasted the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000

TIMING BELT TENSION SPRING FAILED CAUSING SPRING TO ABRADE TIMING BELT UNTIL IT FAILED, THE TIMING BELT HAD BE REPLACED 10 MONTHS BEFORE AND ONLY HAD 12000 MILES ON IT. AUTO SHOP THAT DID THE REPAIRS INFORMED ME THAT THE SPRING WAS NOT PART OF THE REPLACEMENT PACKAGE THAT WAS INSTALLED 10 MONTHS BEFORE IT FAILED. WHEN THE BELT BROKE A VALVE DISFIGURED NUMBER ONE CYLINDER AND PISTON, TO BE REPAIRED THE HEAD WAS MILLED, REPLACEMENT OF TIMING BELT AND TENSIONERS, CAUSING ME 1700 DOLLARS IN REPAIRS. THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR POWER LOCK QUIT WORKING. THE DANGER IS THAT THE DOOR CAN'T BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED EITHER FROM THE INSIDE, OR WITH A KEY ON THE OUTSIDE. THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF AND WHEN THIS PART WILL FAIL, BUT IF IT DOES, IT MAY END UP BEING A LIFE THREATENING DISASTER. I DECIDE TO COME BACK HOME INSTEAD. I JUST DIDN'T TRUST THIS CAR THE REST OF THE WAY TO VA.. I GET TO OCALA. MERGING ON TO THE 75 INTERCHANGE? TWO CARS AND A SEMI BEHIND ME. A SEMI TO THE LEFT SIDE HAD TO MOVE OVER BECAUSE I PUNCHED THE GAS TO MERGE ON? STALLED, SOMETHING WENT BOOM UNDER ME? AND SO MUCH WHITE SMOKE BEHIND ME? IT ENGULFED THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME. IT LITERALLY LOST POWER AND I HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER? THEN RECOVERED ITSELF. I GOT IT TO THE REST AREA A MILE UP THE ROAD. CALLED A TOW TRUCK AGAIN. HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. THESE PEOPLE REPLACED THE CAT CONVERTER AND A SENSOR. THE REST OF THE TRIP HOME. AT THE 60 MILE MARK AGAIN? IT STARTS UP AGAIN. SPITTING AND SPUTTERING.LOSING ACCELERATION.. TRUCKS BEHIND ME. I'M PRAYING BY THIS POINT. I EVENTUALLY PULLED OFF AT THE WESLEY CHAPEL EXIT *54* AND SLOWLY MADE IT HOME BACK TO CLEARWATER. HYUNDAI AMERICA IS WHO I CALLED AT THIS POINT. TOOK IT IN YET AGAIN TO A LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHO AS USUAL AFTER 2 DAYS? FIND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG. I GET IT BACK? AND IT SOUNDS WORSE AND RUNS WORSE THAN IT EVER DID NOW. SOUNDS LIKE A PUTTERING VOLKSWAGON. I AM SERIOUSLY AFRAID OF THIS CAR. SERIOUSLY!

MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WENT OUT TO PULL IT INTO THE GARAGE. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE BREAK TO EXCELERATE, THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD (WITHOUT ME GIVING IT ANY GAS). I RETURNED MY FOOT LIGHTLY TO THE BREAK. THE THRUST THREW ME INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I CALLED THE TOW SERVICE AND HAD MY CAR TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. DURING THE RIDE TO THE DEALER THE TOW DRIVER SAID THAT HE HAD TO HOLD HIS FOOT ON THE BREAK IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE CAR AND GET IT ON THE TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY CAR FOR THREE DAYS AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. SHE TOLD ME THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED NO NUMBERS THAT WOULD INDICATE THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. SHE STATED THAT THERE WERE SOME CODES THAT CAME UP BUT THEY WERE ERASED BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T MATTER, THEY CAME UP ON THEIR OWN. THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE ON DAY ONE. WHAT WAS BEING DONE ON THE OTHER TWO DAYS? THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE HAD TO TAKE THIS CAR IN FOR THIS TYPE OF REPAIR. THEY ALWAYS TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, HOWEVER WHEN I GET THE CAR BACK IT DRIVES LIKE NEW. NOT SO MUCH THIS TIME. THE BREAKS ARE STILL A LITTLE OFF. IS A DEALERSHIP ALLOWED TO REPAIR YOUR CAR AND NOT TELL YOU WHAT WAS WRONG? I ASK THIS BECAUSE OF THE ABOVE AND DURING ONE OF MY VISITS ON OF THE WORKERS TOLD ME THAT "THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO STAY #1".

2009 HYUNDAI ACCENT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION RECALL NOTICE AND CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED IN APRIL 2013, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. ON NOVEMBER 19, 2012, HIS VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT A NATIONWIDE RECOGNIZED FACILITY, WHERE THE STOP LIGHT SWITCH WAS REPLACED, DUE TO NO BRAKE LIGHTS. THE CONSUMER STATED HE FOLLOWED ALL OF THE PROCEDURES OF THE RECALL NOTIFICATION, FOR VEHICLES ALREADY REPAIRED. ON AUGUST 12, 2013, THE CONSUMER CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER, ONLY TO BE INFORMED, HE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE HIS VEHICLE TO A HYUNDAI DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND VERIFIED, BEFORE THE REIMBURSEMENT COULD BE APPROVED.

I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH SHIFTING INTO GEAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY ISSUES AT ALL. I ALSO JUST FOUND OUT THAT MY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IS NOT WORKING EITHER. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY RECALLS ON EITHER. IT'S UPSETTING TO SEE THAT OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTING PROBLEM AND IT DOESN'T SEEM THAT ANYONE WITHIN HYUNDAI HAS BOTHERED TO SEE IF THIS PROBLEM EXISTS WITH OTHER 5 SPEED ACCENTS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE CYLINDER FOUR TIMES. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING IN THE MANNER IN WHICH IT WAS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. *TR THE HORN WAS REPLACED. ALSO, THE CONSUMER PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT END, THE TIRES WERE CUPPING, AS A RESULT THE FRONT END HAD TO BE ALIGNED. ALSO, THERE WERE WATER STAINS ON THE CARPET. IT APPEARED WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE HOLES IN THE TIRE WELLS. THE OIL DRAIN PLUG WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 09/02/14

1ST INCIDENT: CAR WAS PARKED AT STORE. WOULD NOT START AND COULD NOT MOVE SHIFT LEVER WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DOWN. CALLED FOR TOW, MECHANIC JUMP-STARTED THE CAR. 2ND INCIDENT: SINCE THE ABOVE TIME, WE HAVE HAD TO MANIPULATE THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES TO RELEASE SHIFTER, THEN FIRMLY MOVE SHIFTER INTO PARK, ALLOWING THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN GEAR, THEN THE CAR WOULD START. 3RD INCIDENT: APRIL 24TH, 2013. ENTERED THE CAR, HEARD CLICKING SOUND FROM THE DIRECTION OF THE INSIDE FUSE BOX. TRIED TO START THE CAR, NO POWER ANYWHERE, CAR WOULD NOT START. DEPRESSED THE BRAKE TO REPEAT THE SHIFTER STEPS AS IN INCIDENT 2. THE CLICKING STOPPED. THE CLICKING ONLY STOPPED WHEN I DEPRESSED AND HELD THE BRAKE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ON POSITION. STILL NO POWER AND CAR WOULD NOT START. AS I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, THE ELECTRONIC ODOMETER DISPLAY WENT TO HALF-NUMBERS. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN ON THE FLASHERS, THERE WAS A "STATIC NOISE" FROM THE DASHBOARD. FLASHERS WOULD NOT WORK. RETURNED THE KEY TO THE LOCK POSITION, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ODOMETER READING FLASHED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES, THEN CAME BACK FULLY. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR JUMP-STARTED IN ORDER TO GET HOME. *TR

THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALL FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. MY DAUGHTER WAS FOLLOWING ME AND NOTICED THEY WEREN'T WORKING. I CHECKED THE FUSE AND IT IS OK, SO THE NEXT COMPONENT IS THE SWITCH. I RESEARCHED PROBLEMS WITH MY MODEL AND NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2007 MODEL YEAR FOR THE SAME MODEL CAR FOR THE STOP LAMP SWITCH.
