Engine timing chains are failing in a direct result from recall campaign ID 21V301000 Piston ring noise sensing system which contaminated my oil accelerating wear on my engine chain and sprockets. A failed or ineffective piston ring noise sensing system can let piston/ring damage go unchecked, leading to oil contamination, which in turn wears out or destroys the timing chain system.

I experienced engine failure with this make and model out of no where. Seen online recalls in the past for same make, year, and model. Dealership and and corporate are not helping me one bit, threatening to charge me for storage, lied about my corporate case being denied, when I have email evidence it was still open, and now zero contact back from Hyundai corporation. I'm trying to seek legal advice and would love any help moving forward struggling gravelly from all of this. Thank you so much

The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The contact assisted in jumpstarting another vehicle with battery failure. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start the next day after several attempts. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the TPMS warning light had been illuminated prior to the failure. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to two separate independent mechanics who informed the contact that the engine had failed. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with an independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Vehicle was recently purchased and brought in to service recall 22-01-030H (TCU Update and IVT Replacement) Fred Bean Hyundai of Langhorne (1106 E Lincoln Highway, Langhorne, PA, 19047) did the software update, but refuses to honor the IVT replacement as part of the recall, despite the transmission not working and needing to be towed to the dealership. They are attempting to charge me a minimum $5000 to replace the transmission, despite the replacement being covered under this recall campaign. Please contact me and advise if I should pay them and am then entitled to a reimbursement or if I should even have to pay them in the first place. They currently have my vehicle and I can't even drive it off-lot due to failed transmission.

The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the RPM elevated to a high level while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The failure persisted while depressing the accelerator pedal without a warning light being illuminated. The contact used a code reader to diagnose the vehicle; however, no fault codes were found. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

I have a code "P0867 Transmission Fluid Pressure" that showed up on my car. Yes. Dealership refused to fix under "Service Campaign [XXX]". Dealership confirmed issue. No. There is a check engine light that appeared. To continue after the questions, Max Hyundai of Manhattan, address: 8020 US-24, Manhattan, KS 66502. Refused to fix my vehicle under "service campaign [XXX]". As the service campaign indicates Code P0867 must be present, which it is. As well as a VIN that starts with [XXX], which my vehicle also has. As well as 20MY Elantra's. Which my car falls into that category as well. Transmission failed - car disabled at 85mph
Feb 24, 2024
Started noticing my 2020 Elantra was "jerking", "lurching" while in motion of driving. RPM would shoot up. A handful of times I would be losing power and almost not make to where I was headed. Starting/Turning from a dead stop, I would have no power and then suddenly it would surge and then I could get up to speed. I did not have any indication before hand or while driving. I did not have any lights come up, while driving or when it did the startup check when turned on. I barely made it to a Auto service, he drove it from one end of the parking lot to the other, then whipped into a bay for him to look at. I was told it was the Transmission, specifically CVT slippage and he suggested I do not drive home.

Feb 07, 2025
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH at night, the high beam headlight became inoperable. The contact stated that the high beam on the sign was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed that the high beam headlights had failed due to a shutter in the headlight housing that opened and closed while needed. The contact was informed that the headlamp housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 20-BE-004H Headlamp Replacement (Exterior Lighting). The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
Jan 13, 2025
The high beam shutter that switches from high to low is not working. The car has 68,000 and I don't think this is something that should not work at that low mileage considering it is not in use all the time. I just dont see how it stops working all of a sudden when most of the time drivers do not use their high beams everyday. I just got inspected because its required in our state and both mechanics confirmed this problem. We bought a new bulb and that is when we found out the problem.
Dec 05, 2024
The high beams failed and Hyundai will only say that my VIN isn’t part of the recall. Service Campaign T5G covers the exact same symptoms that my car is experiencing. Since Hyundai refuses to acknowledge that the safety issue in this campaign affects more than what they’ve previously admitted, myself and other owners are left to repair the defect at our own expense. A Google search brings up more than a few posts of owners that were also denied the recall because Hyundai says that their 2020 Elantra VIN isn’t included in the recall. This shows that Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the full scope of the vehicles that have defect. Proper headlight function is absolutely necessary. High beams not working even cause state inspections to fail. Hyundai needs to be forced to fix this major defect in a safety critical lighting system, as it is clear that they have no desire to keep the owners of their 2020 Elantras safe.

I am writing to express my concern regarding the safety and security of my vehicle, particularly due to the increasing reports of thefts involving similar Hyundai models. As a student, my vehicle is essential for my daily commute and responsibilities. The ongoing theft issues have made me feel very anxious, and I am unsure of the steps I should take to ensure the safety of my car. I would greatly appreciate any guidance or support from Hyundai on how I can improve the security of my vehicle. On Aug 30, 2023 I went to a Germain Hyundai for the usual maintenance of my Hyundai Elantra 2020 where they checked the condition of the belts and it passed. Fast forward Oct 1, 2023 the timing belt snapped and I had it serviced at Hyundai Great Lakes Dublin. I aired out my concern that it is too early for that belt to break since my mileage is only at approximately 25000, while their manual even says that the usual replacement /maintenance for the timing belt. So I urged them to check what caused it to break. Oct 15, 2023 I was driving off of freeway and we suddenly heard the belt snapped again and the car started to slow down on its own. It was a crazy experience as we were in the middle lane and we could no longer control the speed of the car. The Hyundai service center did not take this matter seriously and only recommended that the belts be replaced again. Essentially, I am in so much concern of my safety now given the situation that even the service center did not take time to figure out what is causing the belt to break and not being able to identify that puts me in a traumatic and unsafe situation of driving this vehicle , knowing it could break anytime.

I’ve had my car for about 5/6 months and it’s been broken into twice and was recently stolen. I haven’t been notified from Hyundai dealership about any recalls. Recently I called Ray Skillman where I purchased the car and a man said that there was a recall on my car a few days after I purchased the vehicle. I haven’t received any letters or notification about this from Hyundai and if they did it could’ve prevented me dealing with my car being broken into, damaged, and now stolen .

THIS VEHICLE RECENTLY HAD A NEW ENGINE AND NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALLED INTO IT IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. LESS THAN 10K MILES ON IT. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ON 4/12/2024 AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. THEY CALLED ME ON 4/15/2024 STATING THAT THEIR ENGINEERS AND TECHS HAD HAD PROBLEMS ON THE TRANSMISSION RECENTLY INSTALLED ON IT DUE TO MANUFACTURING AND/OR FAULTY PARTS, AND TO REPLACE THAT TRANSMISSION WITH A NEW ONE. STILL WAITING TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK AT THIS POINT IN TIME.

TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER ON 1/30/2024 TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE ENGINE AS MY REGULAR MECHANIC STATED THE "ENGINE WAS KNOCKING" AT THE MOST RECENT OIL CHANGE, AND GET IT TO THE DEALER AS IT SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. TURNS OUT IT DID NEED AN ENGINE WHICH THEY REPLACED YESTERDAY FINALLY, HOWEVER WHEN THEY TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE THEY STILL HEARD NOISES. THEY EXAMINED IT FURTHER AND TODAY THEY NOTIFIED ME IT ALSO NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS VEHICLE WE HAVE HAD SINCE WE BOUGHT IT NEW IN JANUARY OF 2021, HAD LESS THAN 10K MILES ON IT WHEN WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER ON 1/30/2024. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. THANK GOODNESS I HAD ALL MY RECEIPTS TO PROVE REGULAR PROOF OF MAINTENANCE ESP SINCE I HAVE A REGULAR GUY AND DID NOT HAVE IT DONE AT THE DEALERS.

I took the vehicle in for it's regular oil change on 1/19/2024. My regular mechanic stated to me that "the engine is knocking, you need to get it to the dealer so they can fix the issue as it should be under warranty." He finished the oil change and we came home and immediately made an appointment with our local Hyundai Dealer - that appointment is on 1/30/2024 at 9 am. This is an extremely concerning issue as it affects the whole vehicle and the ability of it to be driven and last a long time. No warning lamps, or messages occurred for this issue, only the statement by my regular mechanic. I want to make sure this is documented in case Hyundai tries to get out of fixing the issue. This could be a very expensive problem. The appointment was made for the 30,000 mile service, but I will make sure they are aware of the engine issue when I take it in as well.

When I start off I give my car gas but it does not want to speed up. The rpm drops to 2 and does not move as I push the gas to go to get out of the way of traffic behind me. It goes about 600 ft before it kicks in. Then it runs normal. It's still under manufacture warrenty (3 more years and 20000 more miles unde warrenty). I've taken it to the dealership and they didn't see anything. Said they would have to keep it a couple of days to check it out. It's my only means of transportation but the never have a loner car for me to use till I get mine back. I've seen others with same complaint so why is there no recall. Afraid I'm gonna get hit in the rear due to lack of power. Doesn't do it everyday but has happened twice in two weeks when I've pulled out onto a major highway with heavy traffic. I bought the car used in Jan.2023 with warrenty still on the car. Thought hey great deal! But now I think I bought a lemon.

STEERING
7 complaints
Good morning, I was hearing a rubbing noise every time I turned my steering wheel on my 3020 Hyundai Elantra. I did some research and found a Hyundai service bulletin explaining the worm gear shaft. I brought it to my local Hyundai dealership in Manchester New Hampshire. They confirmed that it was indeed the worm gear shaft. They replaced it and charged me but when I called the Hyundai corporate office, they explained to me they would not be able to reimburse me even though it has happened on many of their Hyundai and other cars. I am requesting help for this unfortunate situation. The cost of replacement was over $500. Why is the worm gear shaft problem not a recall as of yet? If I would not have had this fixed, it would have caused other problems in the steering. Ty

There has been a noise coming from my steering column. Its sounds a like rubbing or whirring noise. It only happens at low or stationary speeds. I took the vehicle to a local shop in my area. They diagnosed the problem as the Worm Shaft Assembly ( located inside the steering column). If steering fails while driving, it can a crash and lead to significant injury. While my steering has not failed or led to any accidents, its very possible and a real risk.

Noise coming from steering wheel column when turning wheel, especially at low speeds. After research, seems it is an issue that is common for these cars. If the electric steering fails during driving it can seriously injure the driver & passengers, it will cause wrecks to happen. My steering is starting to make the same noise people explain it creates before it goes out.

Purchased used from Carvana. Steering pulls to right and left, unexpectedly and sporadically. Noticeable by both drivers, independently. Also, noticeable from passenger seat and not by driver alone. Suspected LOWER BALL JOINT issue which could result in sudden loss of control, crash, and death. IF this work was done, perhaps defective "repair"? Carvana advised this is a death trap (my words). Have been trying to return vehicle since MONDAY 8/23. Driving to the 'vending machine' to hand back over THEIR vehicle, uninvited yet announced, on 8/27 a.m. in Las Vegas. This issue occurs at low, medium, and highway speeds without any apparent cause, except perhaps dips and uneven road surfaces. Perhaps the mismatched set of front/back tires?

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
4 complaints
The forward collision or emergency braking system gets activated by direct sunlight. Almost every day I drive with the sun directly in front of me in the morning and the car can activate this system with no need when going 30 to 75 mph on the 405, an extremely busy highway. There have been many almost rear ends if I wasn't able to accelerate through the braking. This is a weekly if almost daily occurrence. The independent auto shop said it can happen but they have replaced break pads twice and I'm only at 60,000 miles.
Mar 14, 2024
The forward accident avoidance system repeatedly cuts off the gas and prevents the car from moving even when there is nothing that could be considered a hazard in front of the car. It leaves me stranded half way through a turn in an intersection or the entrance to a parking lot. The gas pedal is disabled until the computer decides that it is safe. The service manager at the dealer says there is nothing they can do as the system is extremely sensitive and they get a lot of complaints about it. To be left in the middle of an intersection as the light changes and cross traffic starts or to to be stopped halfway through a turn onto a road with approaching traffic is not safe.

THE JUMP IN ENGINE SPEED IS MAINTAINED, NOT TEMPORARY. THE SUSTAINED INCREASE IN ENGINE SPEED WILL REDUCE FUEL ECONOMY AND INCREASE MECHANICAL WEAR ON THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY I ENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL. TO MY SURPRISE THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASED BY 500-700 RPM. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A DEFECT IN THE WAY THE INTELLIGENT VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (IVT) SHOULD OPERATE OR ANY TRANSMISSION SHOULD OPERATE. THE RESULT IS THAT GAS MILEAGE WILL DECREASE AND ENGINE WEAR INCREASE AS A RESULT OF HIGHER RPM THAN NECESSARY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT AND SHOULD RESULT IN A RECALL BY HYUNDAI TO CHANGE THE OPERATION OF THE TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM OWNERS. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THEY, IN TURN, CONTACTED HYUNDAI. I HAVE ALSO CONTACT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE. AS OF THIS WRITING I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INDICATION FROM HYUNDAI THAT THIS CONDITION EXISTS AND THAT IT IS A PROBLEM. I'M HOPING YOU CAN REQUIRE A RECALL TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE.

Vehicle had several non-starts. I took it to the dealer a couple of times and they could not duplicate the problem. On [XXX] at about 1:40 p.m. I was driving to work, and got distracted and had a front-end collision with a tree that was about 1-3 feet next to the side of the road. Extensive damage to the vehicle, and personal injuries occurred (mild concussion, stress fracture of left forearm, bruising/abrasion on ride side torso, sprained left thumb, and abrasions on head). Both the driver and passenger airbags did not deploy which contributed to me almost flying through the windshield. The emergency responders and tow truck operator were very surprised I wasn't in critical condition or dead and noted that the airbags failing was a serious issue and I was lucky. This was reported to the manufacturer and geico insurance on December 20th, and I am currently awaiting to hear back from both to get the inspections scheduled. The vehicle is currently located at OC's Auto at 598 Armistead Blvd, Holt FL 32564. I have already signed papers giving permission for inspections by the insurance company if they request it, but currently inspections haven't been done yet to determine damage estimates or to investigate the airbags. Engine stalled out, oil light and engine repair light both on, call will not turn over
Dec 20, 2024
The car has issues with starting, and accelerating. Dealerships have zero availability for weeks out to provide any sort of diagnostics, and are unable to assist with this issue. The following email was sent to Hyundai Customer Service: I am currently leasing a 2020 Hyundai Elantra.  In July of this year, the car suddenly had trouble accelerating.  Being due for an oil change, and wanting to get the engine codes read, I contacted my local Hyundai dealership, and they had no availability for weeks.  I used a local service station to have the codes read/get the oil change, and the car continued to have difficulty (I am attaching the BlueLink reports on said codes).  I was finally able to bring it in to the local dealer who cleared the codes, and said they were the result of "not having enough oil."  The car drove well until 11/27, when the car started to sputter, not allowing it to accelerate properly, and with multiple error messages, including a flashing engine light.  After contact my local dealer who I first used in July, they said "it is probably low oil like last time, these cars are known to burn oil quickly."  I again brought it to my local service station for the oil change, and for a NYS inspection.  As my car is under 15k miles, and up-to-date with oil changes, I would imagine it would pass said inspection.  It did not.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The soldering of the end cap in the engine fuel rail failed and allowed gas under pressure to leak out. Fuel sprayed out in the engine compartment and the smell was evident inside and outside of the vehicle while in operation. Not sure how it did not start an engine fire. Repairing was a simple task that I handled as this is the only vehicle available to me. Ordered a new fuel rail which was only available from a dealer without issue and completing the repair went without issue. Did not have anyone else look at the problem as once I figured out the problem, did not want to drive the car anywhere. I have the old fuel rail for anyone who needs to inspect it.

I JUST BOUGHT/ FINANCED MY NEW 2020 HYUNDAI ELENTRA ON 11/15/2020 AND RECENTLY IN PAST COUPLE OF DAYS I HAVE EXPERIENCED TROUBLE WITH THE GAS/ THROTTLE/ POWER OF DRIVING MY NEW CAR. THE RPM IN MY VIDEO JUMPS UP & DOWN WITH NO POWER REALLY PUSHING TO DRIVE. I ALMOST GOT INTO 1 BAD ACCIDENT WITH A SEMI-TRUCK. ALSO THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS LOW READING PSI OF 29 AND I NEVER RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT UNTIL WAY LATER FOR PSI READING 32. EVEN THOUGH I AIRED MY TIRES TO THE CORRECT PSI MY WARNING LIGHTS ARE STILL ON.

WINDSHIELDS SAFETY DEFECT ' HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2020 GREETINGS, I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF MY PURCHASE OF A DEFECTIVE BRAND-NEW HYUNDAI ELANTRA LESS THAN THREE WEEKS AGO ON JANUARY 06, 2020, FROM BOB BAKER HYUNDAI IN CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA. WHILE TEST DRIVING THE CAR, I NOTICED A HAZINESS TO THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN. I WAS TOLD BY A HYUNDAI SALESMAN, [XXX] THAT THIS HAZINESS MIGHT BE DIRT AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD WASH THE CAR BEFORE I TOOK IT HOME THUS TAKING CARE OF THE PROBLEM. LATER, AFTER A CAREFUL EXAMINATION, I OBSERVED THAT THE WINDSHIELD HAD A SPECKLE DEFECT CAUSING MASSIVE SCATTERING AND HAZINESS OF MY FIELD OF VISION WHEN DRIVING DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN, A FREQUENT DRIVING CONDITION HERE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. I ALSO OBSERVED THAT THIS DEFECT EXISTS IN ALL SIX CAR WINDOWS (FRONT WINDSHIELD, FOUR SIDE WINDOWS AND BACK WINDSHIELD). THIS DEFECT IS PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE SINCE I COMMUTE EARLY MORNINGS AND EVENINGS, TIMES WHEN THE SUN IS LOW AND DIRECTLY IN MY FIELD OF VISION. I WANT TO EMPHASIZE THAT THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT IMPAIRS THE DRIVABILITY OF THE CAR AND IS A CONSIDERABLE RISK TO MY PERSONAL SAFETY. IT IS HARD FOR ME TO DETERMINE IF THIS DEFECT MIGHT NOT ALSO BE CAUSING A MECHANICAL DEGRADATION OF THE WINDSHIELD'S STRENGTH. ON JANUARY 24, 2020, I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND MET WITH [XXX], THE SALES MANAGER. DURING THIS MEETING THE HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE EASILY DETECTED AND CONFIRMED THE WINDOWS' DEFECT. THIS REPRESENTATIVE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAD REPORTED THIS ISSUE I ALSO LEARNED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER THAT HAS HAD THIS COMPLAINT AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS KNOWINGLY SOLD TO ME IN THIS CONDITION. I'M ATTACHING FIVE (5) IMAGES THAT DEMONSTRATE THIS DEFECT. BEST REGARDS, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

Driving on a road trip, 2.5 hours in. All doors were locked. Drove over a road change from tunnel to bridge, small bump, and dashboard started beeping and flashing that a door opened. Driver side back door (where my child was sitting) opened, air was rushing in. We had to brake ( on a highway bridge to pull over) and unlock door to get it to close again. The door popped open while still locked. Called Hyundai and they said bring it in, but we probably didn't shut it. It was absolutely shut and locked.

The contact leased a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for the cabin air filter replacement, she was informed that there were rodent feces, leaves, and grains inside the cabin filter. The contact was informed that the debris was also present in the blower motor, which caused the blower motor to make abnormal grinding sounds when engaging the heating system. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was caused by rodents. Additionally, the contact stated that there was a strong feces odor coming from the vents. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring, causing the cabin filter to be replaced approximately once a week. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.

Tire size: 225/4R18 88W Code 2119 indicates manufacture on 21st week of 2019. Factory original equipment on a 2020 Hyundai Elantra GT (N-Line). At the dealer for an unrelated service at approximately 37,000 miles. Tech noticed cracking on sidewall of all original tires. Suspects it is dry rot. There is a previous recall for these tires in a different size from 2015, but it appears the issue has not been resolved. I've attached a photo as an one example of the cracking. All original tires have multiple cracks like this along the sidewall.
Jun 09, 2023
No warning lamps. Incident reported to tire manufacturer; no liability acknowledged. While parking at very low speed, sidewall contacted smooth metal curb at a slight angle and blew out. IMO, tire should have withstood the typical parking process and not destroyed the sidewall and burst under the conditions.

I was in the inside left turn lane turning left and as I was turning my steering wheel my car was not turning, it was continuing to go straight. I hit my brakes so I wouldn’t crash into the car turning next to me and then my wheels finally turned as I was braking so it caused me to burn the tires and swerve. I’m not sure if any lights came on as I was trying not to crash into the vehicle next to me. I have an appointment for the dealership to look at it.
Sep 24, 2021
THE CAR HAD MANY SMALL PROBLEMS TO BEGIN WITH. THE STEERING WHEEL NEVER SAT STRAIGHT AND THERE WERE MANY LIGHTS FOR LOW TIRE PRESSURE EVEN THOUGH THE PRESSURE WAS FINE. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO BROKE 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING. I NOTICED THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND HANDLE BECAME VERY HARD TO CONTROL. SUDDENLY THE RPM WENT ALL THE WAY 8 ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. THIS WAS A NEAR MISS ACCIDENT. IF I HAD DRIVEN A LITTLE FURTHER WHERE THERE WAS A MERGE IN THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY LOST MY LIFE. WHEN I CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SUPPORT, THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT OTHER HYUNDAI ELANTRA'S WERE ALSO EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND THEY PREDICTED A RECALL IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Elantra GT. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH in stop-and-go traffic, the engine light illuminated. While driving, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the knock sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While driving at 35-45 MPH three days later, the engine light illuminated again, and the vehicle started to decelerate. The vehicle was towed back to the local dealer, who performed a combustion test. The dealer requested permission for a mechanic to take the vehicle to the residence for a road test. The contact declined the request. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The contact requested a buyback. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000. The VIN was not available.

The warning lamp (engine light) illuminated blinking on and off. Engine code P1327 read on the diagnostic check, riding on the expressway was a little uncomfortable, engine was losing power which is unsafe at high speeds. I’ve contacted the nearest Hyundai dealer and scheduled an appointment for the car repair. I take care of the car and any repairs for maintenance and I never have any problems whatsoever until day. After doing research Hyundai had or has a recall for my vehicle with the VIN NUMBER starting with KMH, for engine replacement and I want to know if Hyundai can fix this issue.

The contact called on behalf of their son who owns a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while their son was decelerating, speed was unknown, and coming to a stop sign. The next thing their son was able to recall was that the vehicle had suddenly turned right crashing into an electrical pole nearby. The air bags deployed. The driver had lost consciousness during the crash making it difficult to recall all that occurred. The vehicle was towed but they had not yet received any confirmation if the vehicle had been totaled. The electrical pole had fallen and began to catch fire. The fire department had put out the fire. The contact was not completely sure of the damage done to the vehicle. The driver lost consciousness and received an injury on their right arm. Medical attention was needed. The contact could only assume a police report had been filed but had not heard from the police department to confirm. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

A fire started in the passenger headlight assembly. The car had only been running for about 7 minutes directly prior to the fire being noticed. At the time of the fire it was parked & turned off. No injuries. It burned thru/melted part of the bumper & damaged something with the windshield washer fluid. Several people were at risk due to there being a fire! The car was parked at a gas station when the fire broke out. I don't think they have done a thorough investigation yet. It is current at Hyundai of Metairie in Metairie LA. According to the service technician my car is not the only one they have there that had the same thing happen. No warning signs, sounds, or anything else.

I was told that until June 14 they will not see or diagnose it. I have contacted consumer affairs with no resolution. Tens of thousands of Hyundai's and Kia's are being stolen in under 2 minutes due to a design flaw Hyundai and Kia engineers failed to address. With a quick removal of steering column cover and a USB male end, thieves can steal your vehicle. This puts the public and law enforcement at risk as these thieves flee from police at high rates of speed and use these stolen Kia's and Hyundai's to commit other crimes.

Hello, I have a 2020 Hyundai Elantra  [XXX] Vin.  The car has a major problem with the steering and suspension at speeds over 45 mph.  I am talking with [XXX] at this time after dialing [XXX] at Hyundai cust care (case #[XXX]).  She told me she is on the West Side location.  I asked where is that and she stated she is unable to let me know where.  The car does not hold the road and the suspension and steering is not working well at speeds of 45mph or faster.  This is a very dangerous situation and this year and model of Hyundai should be examined before someone loses control because of a defect made at Hyundai.  [XXX] stated she does not have a recall for this problem and I am at a complete loss for what to do.  She stated an appointment is not easily made until Dec 31st because of staffing issues.  I looked online and also found other comments with this same exact issue so I know it is a major problem that needs to be addressed.  Please let me know what I should do before a tragic accident happens with this and other 2020 Elantra vehicles.  Thank you in advance. IT WAS NOTICED ON MY NEXEN TIRE THAT A BUBBLE HAD OCCURRED ON THE EXTERIOR/SIDE OF THE TIRE. WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT IT, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BUBBLE OCCURS WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, AND THE CABLES ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE PUSH OUT TO CREATE THE BUBBLE IN THE TIRE. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING, AND A BLOWOUT COULD POSSIBLY OCCUR. THE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP MENTIONED THAT THEY SEE MULTIPLE CARS EACH MONTH WITH THESE BUBBLES ON THE NEXEN TIRES. NEXEN IS THE TIRE COMPANY THAT HYUNDAI USES FOR THEIR NEW VEHICLES. WHEN I CALLED NEXEN ABOUT THE ISSUE, THEY TOLD ME TO FILE A CLAIM, WHICH HAS BEEN APPROVED AND COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT. THEY DIDN'T INDICATE IF THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE OR NOT, BUT WHEN IN CONVERSATION WITH A REPRESENTATIVE, IT APPEARED THAT THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE AND WERE QUICK TO RESPOND ABOUT FILING A CLAIM.

I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT FOR A WEEK WHILE REPLACING THE STEERING ASSEMBLY COLUMN (NOT 100% SURE ON EXACT NAMES OF PARTS REPLACED). I GET THE CAR BACK AND THE STEERING PROBLEMS ARE WORSE. NOW THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVING AROUND WHILE DRIVING. THAT LEVER THAT ALLOWS YOU TO ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT WORK. I CALL HYUNDAI AND AM TOLD THEY ARE BOOKED AND CAN NOT GET MY CAR IN FOR ALMOST A WEEK. IT GETS TO THE POINT THAT DRIVING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE SO I DECIDE TO TAKE THE CAR IN A FEW DAYS EARLY. AS I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70MPH THE STEERING WHEEL DROPS AND IS FLOPPING AROUND AND ALL POWER TO THE CAR GOES OFF MAKING STEERING EVEN WORSE THAN WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE WORST IT CAN GET.
