The contact's mother owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while his mother was driving at an undisclosed speed, the "Power Steering" warning light illuminated. The contact's mother had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the power steering assist module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V100000 (Steering); in 2018, and the vehicle was no longer under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

The vehicle is subject to manufacturer recall #127. I brought it to two different dealerships for the recall repair after confirming in advance that they had the necessary parts. However, after dropping off my vehicle, I was informed a few hours later that the dealership did not actually have the parts needed for the repair. I contacted Hyundai’s service center to escalate the issue, but they refused to take further action. Instead, they repeatedly instructed me to reach out to other dealerships. After contacting several other dealers, I was told that they either did not have the parts or the system capabilities to perform the recall repair. Despite my efforts, Hyundai has refused to escalate this matter to upper management, leaving the issue unresolved.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the coupler steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 63,500.

When I was driving, the electronics steering light came on. The car started pulling hard to the right. Then stopped and drove normal but the light was still on. I park the car the next day the light was off drove fine Then it came back on and was doing the same thing.I brought it to the mechanic he recalibrated the steering. Worked for about a week , then it came on started doing the same. This is a very scary and not safe. When you're driving and you lose steering for no reason. It gets expensive, bringing it to the Mechanic trying to figure it out. This has happened two times and now the second time the car is going to the mechanic to fix this.

On Sept 12th of this year I was involved in a multiple rollover with my Hyundai elantra and not one single airbag deployed nor did my seatbelt tighten up to keep me from moving around as much. Due to this I suffered a fractured vertabrae.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. On Saturday, July 22, 2023, after the car was put into park in my fathers driveway and the emergency brake put on, the front driver and passenger bags deployed. The force of it's deployment cracked the windshield in several places on the passenger side. There were no warning lights or indications that this would occur. The car was in park. The seatbelts are in a locked (not able to retract) form, so the car is not drivable. The two individuals in the front seat were disoriented for a short time. All 4 passengers in the car experienced ringing in the ears for approximately 3 hours, but are ultimately, physically alright, however, not mentally. If this had occurred in another setting, the risk of accident or other safety measures would have been grand, but luckily it happened at the home of a family member. The airbag malfunction needs to be eligible to be fixed and not at the expense of me the owner. The car has a camera located in it and it captured all items listed above. The video may be provided. The Hyundai corporate office has been contacted and an incident file opened. The insurance company has been contacted, as well. Nothing has been done with the car, as the corporate office noted that they may need to see it in it's original state.

The contact owned a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while his wife was driving downhill in the rain at 45 MPH, she failed to apply the brakes and crashed into a vehicle. The impact of the crash caused a three-vehicle pile up. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. Due to the failure, his wife hit her right arm and chest on the steering column. The authorities arrived at the scene and rendered aid by the EMT. The driver of the vehicle that his wife crashed into sustained neck injuries. The contact later took his wife to a hospital where she was treated for bruising to her right arm and chest. A police report was filed(2023-17095). The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer nor the dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

My daughter was parked sitting in this car before going into work when all the airbags but the front ones deployed. The driver side one hit her arm very hard. The car was on but in park. Nothing hit the car.

I received a letter from Hyundai telling me to have the work done, but there are no dealerships in my area willing to schedule me for an appointment. I attempted to use the www.hyundaiUSA.com/Campaign188 website to schedule an appointment based on my zip code. Five dealerships came up. Of those five, two had scheduling greyed out and the other three went to an error screen.

The contact owned a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while driving at 30 MPH, the battery warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with an electrical shortage or the alternator. The contact stated while driving at 55 MPH to her friend's house for assistance with replacing the alternator, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated upon attempting to veer to the side of the road, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact shifted to park (P) but the vehicle failed to respond and continued rolling. The contact heard an exploding sound coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated fiery particles hit the windshield and there was smoke coming in through the AC vent. The contact attempted to open the door to exit the vehicle but the door was locked and failed to open. The contact jumped out of the front driver’s side window while there was incoming traffic. The contact then heard a second exploding sound coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. Several bystanders attempted to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers unsuccessfully. The contact stated that the vehicle burned significantly and only the frame remained. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with the assistance of the fire department. A fire department report was filed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained bruises on the abdomen when jumping out of the window. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and picked up the vehicle from the tow lot. The manufacturer opened a case. Upon investigating the cause of the failure, the manufacturer informed the contact that the fire was caused by an electrical shortage associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V061000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer informed the contact that they may provide partial assistance with paying off the loan on the vehicle. The contact stated that she had not been able to follow up with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

I bought this vehicle used, just three years ago. It had a little over 100k miles on it. Since purchase date, the car has died at least eight times and I've had to take it in for inspection four times. It has had three different batteries. The service techs have not been able to find anything technically wring with the car: alternator fine, engine fine, batteries fine, no reported power draws... yet I am still continuously finding myself stuck with a dead car. There was a bluetooth system in the vehicle when I bought it, but the second time it died, the service tech removed it in case that was what was drawing out power. However, it had died six times since.

MY CAR CONTINUALLY WILL NOT START. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE BATTERY JUMPED SEVERAL TIMES VIA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I COULD DRIVE IT ONE DAY AND THE NEXT DAY, ITS DEAD. I EVEN BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY THINKING THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTS. I THINK THIS MAY BE A MAJOR ISSUE. THE CAR WAS ALWAYS PARKED. MY CAR INSURANCE POLICY ATTACHED HAS THE RECORD OF HOW MANY TIMES I'VE HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO JUMPSTART THE CAT.

December 4, 2021 while driving to San Diego, CA, interstate 8W, Hyundai started jerking and pulling very hesitant. I took the car to my mechanic on December 13th and he informed me that the transmission had a slippage problem! Shifting from 1st to 2nd and then again from 4th gear! Bottom line, I needed another Transmission! I called NHTSA at 888-327-4236 to report this issue, but only a written complaint was taken! We 2010 Hyundai Elantra owners need to file a Civil Lawsuit against Hyundai! There are numerous complaints that I've read regarding this same suspension Faulty! I have a significant defect and safety issue with my 2010 Hyundai Elantra that should be recalled by Hyundai. There seems to be a problem with the automatic gear shifter. The first issue is intermittent where the car does not turn on or even make a clicking noise when I try to turn the key in the ignition. This might make you think the battery is dead, but that is not the case. After a while of turning the car on and off, the car will eventually start. The second issue is that the gear shifter gets stuck and will not shift from one position to another. After much difficulty in getting it unstuck and shifting, the third and most significant problem is that the indicator as to which gear the car is in is not reflecting the actual gear that the car is in. This presents a real safety issue as the indicator will say that the car is in Park, but the car will roll like it is in neutral so the only way to get this to stop is to put on the emergency break while parked. Shifting into a position that you think you’re in, but not actually in, can result in hitting a pedestrian or another car. In rare instances, the car will actually shift into the correct position indicated by the gear shifter while it is in Park. You can find numerous results if you do a google search on the internet for the issues I’ve described above in Hyundai cars. Since the gear shifter is not working properly and is getting stuck, I feel this presents a significant safety issue should I need to get out of the way quickly in either a Drive or Reverse position or if I am expecting to be in a Park position and the car keeps moving.

THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND ON INCLINES - LOSING POWER TO THE WHEELS (FEELS LIKE YOU ARE IN NEUTRAL, AND THE RPM'S GO WAY UP). A VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS FEELING WHEN MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY FOR INSTANCE. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED PER SCHEDULE. AS SEEN FROM OTHERS, THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THIS VEHICLE. NHTSA SHOULD ORDER A RECALL. HAVE ALSO NOTICED A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN COMING TO A HARD STOP.

2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA HESITATES AND JERKS WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY AFTER A YEAR OR TWO AFTER BUYING IT BRAND NEW. AT 160,000, IT HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY. THIS HAPPENS AT ABOUT 30 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR (SOMETIMES HIGHER WHILE ON HIGHWAY). IT HAPPENS ON CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS NOT A RECALL.

BACK SEAT DOOR BEHIND DRIVER WILL NOT OPEN OR SHUT. THE DOOR HANDLE BECOMES STUCK. THIS DOOR HASN'T BEEN USED MUCH SO THIS ISN'T NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS WE CAN'T ACCESS THE DOOR FOR MY CHILD.

THE HOOD LATCH IS INCREDIBLY RUSTY AND NOW IS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE HOOD IS NO LONGER PROPERLY LATCHING CLOSED WHICH COULD CAUSE IT TO FLY OPEN WHILE DRIVING. WHEN CLOSED IT SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS LOCKED BUT UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION IT IS NOT LATCHING. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM A WHILE BACK BUT WITH SOME EFFORT WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE THE LATCH. NOW I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO CORRECT THE ERROR AND I'LL HAVE TO GET IT REPLACED.

THE CLEAR COAT BEGAN TO PEEL AWAY ON MY CAR AND THEN THE PAINT STARTED PEELING. IT LOOKS TERRIBLE AND WHEN I WENT TO TRADE IN FOR A NEW MODEL I WAS TOLD THE PAINT DRASTICALLY LOWERS THE VALUE AND PUTS THE CAR IN "POOR" CONDITION. THIS IS VERY EMBARRASSING HAVING TO EXPLAIN OVER AND OVER WHY THE CAR LOOKS SO BAD. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES IT IS ONLY THE HOOD AND GETTING WORSE OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS. THE REST OF THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN AFFECTED I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL PAINT SHOP WHO SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE IT APPEARS TO BE DEFECTIVE CLEAR COAT USED ON THE ORIGINAL PAINT JOB. IN FEBRUARY 2014 A FRIEND TRIED TO ENTER THE CAR AND THE DOOR HANDLE PULLED OFF IN HER HAND. THE DOOR WAS NOT LOCKED WHILE SHE WAS TRYING TO OPEN IT. THE CAR HAD APPROX. 31,000 MILES ON IT. THIS WAS A FRONT DOOR HANDLE. ON APRIL 20, 2015 (THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 45,000 MILES ON IT) MY DAUGHTER WENT TO REMOVE HER CHILD FROM THE REAR CAR SEAT. THE DOOR WAS NOT LOCKED AND THE REAR DOOR HANDLE PULLED OFF IN HER HAND. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE NEWS WERE SOMEONE IS PULLING A PASSENGER OUT OF A BURNING CAR AFTER AN ACCIDENT OFTEN. WE RECEIVED A LETTER IN REGARDS TO A SAFETY RECALL ON THE 2010 ELANTRA. WE OWN TWO OF THIS VEHICLE. I CONTACTED HUNTINGTON HYUNDAI, IN HUNTINGTON, N.Y. TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR. AS PER JOE SANTIAGO WHO ANSWERED, THEY ARE NOT TAKING APPOINTMENTS FOR THIS REPAIR, AND WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTING VEHICLES ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS MONDAY - FRIDAY 9 AM - 5 PM. IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT WE MAY HAVE TO COME BACK MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS ACCEPTED FOR REPAIR. AS A FIRST RES PONDER I AM STILL WORKING DURING THE OUTBREAK AND WILL BE UNABLE TO TAKE MULTIPLE DAYS OFF FROM WORK TO "TRY" TO GET THE CAR IN. THEY WERE VERY UNHELPFUL AND UNNECESSARILY RUDE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CONVERSATION.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH WHILE GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE, THE BAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND LOCKED AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE CONTACT ENDED UP CRASHING INTO THE GUARDER RAIL. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER ALMOST RESULTING IN MY GOING OFF THE ROAD, WHEN I GO TO A PLACE THAT WAS SAFE TO STOP, I NOTICED THAT THE EPS LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED RED, AND THE ESC OFF LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED YELLOW. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND IT THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND REMAINED OFF DURING MY COMMUNTE HOME. WHEN I DROVE THE CARE YESTERDAY THE LIGHTS CAME ON AT START UP AND STAYED ON MY COMMUTE HOME. THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER TO STEER WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED, AND UNSAFE WHEN THE POWER STEERING CUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND A RECALL NUMBER #127 HAS BEEN ASSIGNED, BUT NO OFFICIAL RECALL TO DATE FOR MY VIN #.

AS I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY ONTO A SHARP CURVED OFF RAMP, UNEXPECTEDLY THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN WITHOUT WARNING. THIS UNEXPECTED LOSS OF MY POWER STEERING ALMOST PUT ME INTO THE ROADS GUARD RAILWHILE NAVIGATING THE OFF RAMP. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL AND SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I NOTICED THE 'EPS' LIGHT WAS ON. I SHUT OF MY VEHICLE AND TRIED TO TROUBLE SHOOT IT, WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO DO. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND MY STERRING RETURNED TO NORMAL POWER STEERING MODE. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD TROUBLESHOOT THE EPS ISSUE, AGAIN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING WITH THE EPS LIGHT TURNING ON. THE VEHICLE IS BEING TAKEN TO HYUNDAI OF SLIDELL FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 15876848 THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.

59,600 MILES IN CAR. PARKED CAR FOR NIGHT, NEXT MORNING TURNED VEHICLE ON AND EPS AND ESC OFF LIGHTS WERE ON. VEHICLE HAD NO POWER STEERING AND WAS HARD TO TURN IF NOT MOVING. RECALL ON EPS SOFTWARE WAS DONE 11 MONTHS AGO. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE PROBLEMS WERE DIAGNOSED AS BAD SENSORS. THIS IS A SECOND ISSUE SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME WAS DECEMBER 29,2014 WENT OUT STARTED THE CAR NO POWER STEERING HAD JUST DROVE THE CAR THE DAY BEFORE OVER HUNDRED MILES SEEMED FINE WELL THE NEXT MORNING THE PROBLEM AROSE WIFE WENT TO GO TO WORK NO POWER STEERING SHE TOOK MY VEHICLE I MISSED WORK TO TAKE INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THAT AFTERNOON THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND THE CAR DROVE FINE. FAST FORWARD TO MARCH 22,2015 A SUNDAY MORNING GOT INTO THE CAR STARTED IT UP AN NO POWER STEERING SHUT IT OFF RESTARTED IT RAN FINE. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP UP THE NEXT MORNING GOT AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT CHECKED OVER. AGAIN THE SAME ISSUE THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT DRIVING THE CAR WHEN THESE ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED. Rear lower control arm detached from subframe while highway driving. Lost control of vehicle. The problem has been an issue for Sonata and Azera however not for Elantra when the same thing happened. The component has not been inspected yet. There were no warning lights. Happened suddenly. Is available for inspection. Subframe became corroded from road salt. Turning onto my street and continued two hundred feet to my driveway I had to turn the steering wheel one quarter to the left to keep the car straight on the road. On inspection of the vehicle I noticed the left rear wheel was at an angle. Further inspection showed the suspension had departed.

Traveling 25-30 MPH on a gravel road, car shuddered and seemed to tilt sightly to the left. At the same time a loud grinding noise was heard and steering felt funny. On stopping and exiting the car, I saw the left rear wheel was toed to the left, and leaning so that the top of the tire was extended beyond the fender arch. Looking beneath the car, I could see the left rear control arm had torn loose from it's pivot point near the center of the uni-body, due to corrosion. The wheel hub was attached to the car solely by the torsion bar, brake line, and strut. The car had passed a state safety inspection exactly one year previous, and has approximately 115K miles, primarily in Maine. There was NO warning before the failure, such as sloppy steering or unstable handling. The gravel road where the failure occurred leads to my vacation cabin. To get there and return home I must cross a mountain pass which is steep and winding both ways, with a speed limit of 50MPH. One side has sheer drop offs, and the other has solid rock ledge. If the failure had happened in this 10 mile stretch, the results could very well have been deadly. Someone may have offered to repair the corrosion damage to the uni-body, but I could never feel comfortable driving the car again. There was no damage to anything but the vehicle itself, so no police report was made. The extremely rural area where the failure occurred made it impractical to get the car to a Hyundai dealer. I junked the car with Dubois Towing and Salvage, 438 River Rd, Mexico, Maine, 04257 (207-364-7273).

I own a 2010 Hyundai Elantra that has experienced a sudden loss of power steering assist on multiple occasions. When this happens, the steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn, especially when maneuvering at low speeds or parking. The EPS light comes on and stays illuminated. This creates a serious safety hazard, particularly when driving with children or in traffic. I am aware of Hyundai Recall 127 (NHTSA Campaign 15V100000), which addresses the same issue, but my VIN is not included. I am requesting that Hyundai investigate and provide the same repair remedy for vehicles outside the initial recall VIN range that are experiencing identical failures.

A few months after I purchased this car the electric power steering (eps light ) light came on and so I looked up my vin number to see if the car has ever had any recalls and that was one of the recalls . And I was told that if a car has any recalls the manufacturer if required to fix it free of charge .

The contact stated that while her son was attempting to start the vehicle, he heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no warnings light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed, and an undisclosed part connected to the timing belt had detached and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that because the NHTSA had not completed the investigation into the failure, a recall was not issued. The approximate failure mileage was 99,500.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he had the brake booster and brake master cylinder replaced. The contact then stated that when the engine was off, the ABS system remained activated as the ABS warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle back to the independent mechanic and was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V061000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and the recall repair was performed however, the failure persisted. The contact then called the manufacturer and was referred to another dealer. The contact took the vehicle to Greenway Hyundai Orlando (4110 W Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32808) where he paid for a diagnostic test and was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. He was also informed that the recall was serviced and that he would be responsible for any additional repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 112,000.

While driving uphill, I let my foot off the gas pedal to make an upcoming turn. The car continued to accelerate, the brake pedal wouldn’t stop the car. Neutral made engine race to red-line. Turned ignition off and used hand brake, damaging handbrake shoes. Had car towed to dealership in Debuque, Iowa. After a few days was told that the floor mat had come loose and wedged accelerator down. Removed mat. 24 months later car accelerated the same way, unwanted, with brake pedal not stopping the car. There is no car mat to get stuck. Turned ignition off and used handbrake. Will be bringing car to a mechanic.

AS THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHEN SLOWLY (<10 MILES/HR) TURNING INTO A PARKING PLACE IN A PARKING LOT OF A STRIP MALL PERPENDICULAR TO THE SIDE WALKS (DOUBLE SIDEWALK SEPARATED BY A RAILING) IN FRONT OF THE STORES, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED THRU THE PARKING SPACE AND UP ON THE FIRST SIDEWALK (IT DID NOT RESPOND TO THE BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE TO SLOW) AND KNOCKED DOWN THE RAILING SEPARATING THE FIRST AND SECOND SIDE WALKS. THE DRIVER PULLED UP ON THE HANDBRAKE TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE IT CROSSED THE SECOND SIDE WALK AND CRASHED INTO THE BARBERSHOP THUS PREVENTING FURTHER DAMAGE AND NO INJURY.

The contact owned a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle first hit a pothole in the road, then crashed into a guardrail, pole and tree. None of the air bags deployed upon impact. The contact's daughter and grandson were passengers in the vehicle. The fire department had to cut the roof of the vehicle and rear passenger door, removed all of the windows and windshield in order to extract the contact's son, daughter and grandson from the vehicle. All parties were transported by ambulance to the hospital for injuries sustained. The contact's son suffered a head injury with a brain bleed and a broken right hand. The contact's grandson had a broken femur and the contact's daughter had bumps and bruises. Police and fire department reports were filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

WHENEVER I TURN ON THE A/C (SUMMER) OR HEATER (WINTER) A REALLY BAD ODOR COMES OUT FROM THE VENTS. ODOR SMELLS LIKE MOLD, MILDEW AND CAUSES ME TO COUGH AND GET BAD HEADACHES. THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) SENSES A DISCREPANCY IN THE STEERING INPUT SIGNALS AND, AS A RESULT, DISABLING THE STEERING POWER ASSIST. MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I SEE THIS HAS BEEN RECALLED IN CERTAIN MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR BUT NOT OUR VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS LOST, GREATER EFFORT TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT A LOW SPEED.

As I was driving, the steering wheel and brakes locked up so I couldn't steer nor brake. Luckily I was in a parking lot so I cruised the vehicle to a stop without crashing. If I had been on a road or turning, I would have crashed. No indicator lights went on. I took the car to a Hyundai dealership where they couldn't find any problems and recommended I replace the steering column. I searched online and several others have reported a similar issue. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA TOURING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT POWER STEERING FAILED TO OPERATED AS DESIGNED WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ALEXANDRIA HYUNDAI (1707 MT VERNON AVE, ALEXANDRIA, VA 22301) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DISAGREED WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC AND HE INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A DEFECTIVE FUSE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO HIS RESIDENCE WHERE HE PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND HAD DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INDEED RELATED TO A DEFECTIVE FUSE. THE CONTACT THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AFTER DISCOVERING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V100000 (STEERING) AND HAD THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED. UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE EPS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE AND LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT HAD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.

EPS LIGHT RANDOMLY CAME ON AGAIN AND LOCKED MY STEERING WHICH IS DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND PARKING, CAN'T MOVE THE STEERING LEFT OR RIGHT. ISSUE HAS OCCURRED BEFORE AROUND THE INITIAL EPS RECALL, TOOK IT THEN TO THE SAME DEALER (SPORT HYUNDAI DODGE) WHERE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED TO UPDATE OR PATCH UP FIX. RECENTLY WENT TO THE DEALER TO ALSO FIX THE ABS MODULE RECALL AND RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE EPS. THEY STATED IT'S THE STEERING COLUMN THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A $2100 REPAIR, WHICH THEY WILL FILE WITH THE MANUFACTURE TO SEE IF IT'S COVERED. BY READING THESE REPEATING COMPLAINTS, SOMETHING TELLS ME THAT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM TILL IT'S IN HARMS WAY INSTEAD OF PREVENTING THE SAFETY ISSUES. WHILE MY WIFE, LINDA, WAS DRIVING LESS THAN 1-2 MPH, TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE ENGINE STARTED RACING AND LEAPED FORWARD. HITTING THE BRAKES HAD NO EFFECT ON STOPPING THE VEHICLE. SHE DESPERATELY TURNED THE WHEEL TO MISS PARKED CARS, A STEEL POLE WAS HIT AND TORN OUT OF THE GROUND BY THE RUNAWAY VEHICLE. FINALLY THE CAR CAME TO REST AFTER HITTING A LARGE CONCRETE LIGHT POLE, WHICH MUST HAVE STALLED OUT THE ENGINE. MY WIFE WAS IN A STATE OF SHOCK AND HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TESTS / XRAYS. EVEN WITH THE SEAT BELT ON, SHE RECEIVED MAJOR IMPACT FROM THE STEERING WHEEL TO HER CHEST.

VEHICLE WAS TOOK IN TO DEALERSHIP LAST 4/22/2015 FOR EPS RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V100000 AND HYUNDAI RECALL 127. THEY COMPLETED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE RECALL DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM ON 5/26/2016 WAS DRIVING THE 2010 ELANTRA AND EPS LIGHT CAME ON CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CAPABILITY. CALLED HYUNDAI THEY SAID IT WAS NOT PART OF RECALL TAKE TO DEALER. DEALER ON 6/1/2016 STATED THAT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS DONE BUT DID NOT FIX EPS STEERING ISSUE AND WOULD NEED TO REPLACE STEERING COLUMN $2150. THE RECALL OBVIOUSLY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE HAVE NOTICED MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IF A RECALL IS TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE RECALL SHOULD BE DONE FULLY AND CORRECTLY NOT CHEAPLY AND HALFWAY. THE EPS CAUSES STIFF STEERING MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR A PERSON TO STEER. WHILE DRIVING I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE AFTER LOSING STEERING I TRIED MAKE A TURN OFF THE MAIN ROAD INTO A SUBDIVISION TO GET OFF THE MAIN ROAD. AS I WAS TURNING AT A VERY LOW SPEED BELOW 5 MPH I WAS UNABLE TO STAY IN MY LANE AND A CAR WAS EXITING THE SUBDIVISION. ALTHOUGH THERE WOULD BE MINOR DAMAGES, THIS COULD BE DIFFERENT IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT AN EXIT COMING AROUND A TURN. THE LOSS OF STEERING IS UNSAFE AND I DO HOPE THAT THE RIGHT MEASURES ARE EVENTUALLY TAKEN TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 45000 MILES ON IT.

You did a recall for the power steering when I check to see if my vehicle is part of the recall the information said no. You need to change this because I've always had issues with my power steering locking up and being unable to turn. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. The EPS light is always on and the dealership is no help at all. I need this to be taken care of.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to stop the vehicle, the engine continued to rev. The vehicle was shifted into neutral(N) and turned off. While driving at low speeds approaching a stop sign, the engine revved up. The contact shifted the vehicle to neutral(N) and turned the vehicle off and then shifted to park(P); however, the vehicle continued to move while the brake pedal was depressed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted and informed of the failure and the contact was provided the cost to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number: DP21003 (Vehicle Speed Control). The failure mileage was approximately 33,000. The consumer stated he had to get rid of the vehicle because the problem had gotten worse.

THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE. ON MY 2010 ELANTRA AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, IT IS AS THOUGH THE GEARS ARE NOT WORKING. WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE THE ISSUE ARISES. IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO 40 MPH I HAVE TO LITERALLY HIT THE GAS AND GET THE RPMS TO 5,000 OR ALMOST 6,000 BEFORE THE CAR WILL SHIFT. THE CAR THEN SHIFTS BUT WHEN IT IS SETTLING INTO 1000-2000 RPM'S THE POWER JERKS AS IF IT HAS LOST POWER MOMENTARILY, THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. GOING UP A SMALL HILL THIS CAR WILL GO ABOUT 10-15 MPH FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS. MY TRANSMISSION SLIPS. THERE ARE AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF ONLINE FORUMS SHOWING THIS IS AN ALL TOO COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I AM ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH 3 OUT OF THE 4 POWER WINDOWS. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE AMOTHER DEFAULT IN THIS MODEL CAR BECAUSE THERE WERE ALSO PLENTY OF OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. ALL 3 WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THE MECHANIC TRIED REPLACING THE MOTOR AND OTHER INTERNAL PARTS BUT IT STILL WILL NOT WORK. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS STOPPED RUNNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT SHOCKED ME AND SO WHEN I PULLED OVER TO LOOK AT EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED I NOTICED THAT IT WAS NOT THE ADHESIVE TO JUST WEAR OFF, A CHUNK OF THE GLASS CAME OFF WITH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. So I was driving my vehicle like normal and all of a sudden the driver airbag light came on on the dash and as I’m getting closer to home my check engine light came on my ABS came on as well as my EPS and my TPS , was losing power to the vehicle. I made it home, put it in park and smoke started rolling. Look under the hood. There’s a fire under the hood. I’m not sure what all damage it has caused, but it appears to be coming from the ABS and the electrical I don’t know what damage was caused by the ABS catching fire, but I was unaware that there was a problem with the vehicle, I am I just bought the vehicle in May and it’s just happened August 11 of 2023

2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA: RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A VEHICLE FIRE. IT OCCURRED ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2020. . I PARKED MY VEHICLE ON THE STREET PER USUAL AND MAYBE 15 MINUTES AFTER ARRIVING HOME FROM WORK MY MOTHER BEGAN YELLING THAT WAS MY VEHICLE WAS IN FLAMES! I OPENED THE FRONT DOOR AND SAW IT WAS INDEED IN FLAMES AND POPPING AND SMOKING. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 WHOM SENT OUT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. AFTER THEY WERE ABLE TO DISTINGUISH THE FIRE, THEY DETERMINED THE CAUSE TO BE ELECTRICAL IN NATURE CONSIDERING THE BATTERY OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY GONE. I HAVE THE CASE NUMBER AS WELL. MY VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND PARKED AND RANDOMLY CAUGHT FIRE. THANKFULLY I WASNT IN IT WHEN IT HAPPENED OR THINGS COULD HAVE BEEM ALOT WORSE. BUT I AM NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND ON TOP OF THAT I HAD TO PAY TO GET THE VEHICLE REMOVED FROM MY APARTMENTS PROPERTY.

EPS or Electric Power Steering stoped working in the middle of the intersection when I tried to turn left. Vehicle became uncontrollable and I had to stop in the middle of the intersection. Everyone started honking and several lights changed before someone approached and helped me just to park the vehicle right after the intersection. There was no lights or any warning that this will happen. I was lucky not to get injured because of this car malfunction. I contacted Hyundai and they confirmed there was recall with that particular problem! Recall numbers 931 and 127. But since than they are very unprofessional and not interested in fixing this issue! I feel like they have 0% interest in helping their customers! Second issue that persists for longer time are seatbelts. They pop open in random moments of driving! They don’t stay locked the whole drive and I feel unsafe in my Hyundai! I called Hyundai the same day ( May 20th) I almost crashed because of well known recall on bad design EPS , and today August 10th , other than exchanging few emails, they didn’t help me at all! I’m really disappointed with Hyundai safety and customer care, and I don’t recommend to anyone to buy and own Hyundai !

THE EPS LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON ONE DAY. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR, SO I WENT TO A NEARBY MECHANIC FIRST. HE INFORMED ME THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY STEERING COLUMN AND AN OPEN RECALL FOR MY VIN. HE ENCOURAGED ME TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP AND SEE IF THE RECALL WAS CONNECTED TO THE STEERING ISSUE. I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE EPS LIGHT CAME BACK ON. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I PARKED THE CAR FOR FEAR OF A POSSIBLE INCIDENT. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER INITIAL DIAGNOSTICS, I WAS INFORMED THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE TECHNICIAN WANTS TO START THE AIRBAG FIX BY REPLACING THE SENSOR UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT. EACH REPAIR WAS OVER $2,000 WITH MY GRAND TOTAL BEING JUST OVER $4,800 AND NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL BE SAFE TO DRIVE AT THAT POINT. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT BOTH OF THESE ISSUES AND PEOPLE WITH UNDER 60,000 MILES DEALING WITH $2,000+ DOLLAR REPAIRS. IF THE STEERING GOES OUT, IT HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS. THAT COUPLED WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT, WHICH NOTIFIES THE WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM HAS BEEN DISABLED, MAKES THIS CAR TOTALLY UNSAFE TO OPERATE. EVEN OUT OF THEIR WARRANTY PERIOF NOW, THESE WERE REPORTED ISSUES THAT I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED IN 2013. I CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND MADE MY COMPLAINT. I HAVE A 2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. FILED A REPORT ON THE SUSPENSION, STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS REPORT IS SOMETHING I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT UNTIL I SAW OTHERS WERE HAVING THESE TWO ISSUES. 1. WHEN YOU TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, IT STILL DINGS AND THE DOORS WON'T LOCK. I AM ASSUMING IT STILL THINK THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION. YOU HAVE TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN AND TAKE IT OUT AGAIN TO GET THE DINGING TO STOP. 2. I HAVE TWO CIGARETTE LIGHTER RECEPTACLES (NOW KNOWN AS 12V ACCESSORY SOCKETS). CANNOT USE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME AS IT CAUSES THE TPMS LIGHT TO COME ON. A FEW SECONDS AFTER ONE OF THE RECEPTACLES HAVE BEEN EMPTIED THE TPMS LIGHT GOES OUT. THE FIRST ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE PARKED AND THE SECOND ISSUES HAPPENS WHETHER PARKED OR DRIVING . . . MOSTLY WHEN DRIVING.

THE TIRES WEAR OUT ON THIS VEHICLE, EVEN AFTER BEING PROPERLY ALIGNED! I HAVE HIM THROUGH 4 COMPLETE SETS OF TIRES AND HAVE 110,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I HAVE KEPT THE AIR PRESSURE AS IT SHOULD BE AND HAVE ROTATED THE TIRES EVERY 3000 MILES. ALL 4 SETS OF TIRES WORE OUT THE EXACT SAME WAY, WHICH WAS INNER EDGE TREAD WEAR. THE ALIGNMENTS WERE DONE BY HYUNDAI TWICE AND TWO SEPARATE BUSINESSES AFTER THAT. ALL SAID THE ALIGNMENT WAS WITHIN FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO ADJUSTMENTS FOR CASTER AND CAMBER ON THIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM CAN APPARENTLY BE REMEDIED WITH AN AFTERMARKET CASTER CAMBER KIT WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY $200. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI, AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET AND LEARNING THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER HYUNDAI MODELS INCLUDING THE ELANTRA. HYUNDAI ADVISED ME THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE, BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR A RECALL. I AM AVERAGING APPROXIMATELY 27,000 MILES PER SET OF TIRES!!! MY WIFE OWNS A 2010 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AND THE COMPLAINT I'VE GOT IS ABOUT THE LUG NUTS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE PADS, BRAKE SHOES AND ROTORS. THE FIRST PROBLEM I RAN INTO ON THIS PROJECT WAS THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE SO RUSTED THAT THE LUG WRENCH SUPPLIED WITH THE CAR WOULDN'T FIT OVER THEM - THE CHROME PLATING ON THE NUTS HAD DETERIORATED ALLOWING RUST TO BUILT UP UNDERNEATH THE PLATING SO THAT THE WRENCH WOULDN'T FIT. (I THOUGHT OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAD TO CHANGE FLAT TIRES ON THE ROAD AND WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET THE FLAT TIRES OFF.) I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF NEW LUG NUTS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID NO, THAT THEY'D GIVE ME A 'DEAL' OF $10/NUT - AROUND $200 TO REPLACE ALL THEM ON THE CAR! I STILL HAVE THE RUSTED LUG NUTS ON THE CAR BUT CARRY AN ADDITIONAL WRENCH THAT WILL FIT OVER THEM. I DID MANAGE TO REPLACE ALL THE PARTS, INCLUDING RUSTED AND WARPED ROTORS MENTIONED IN SOME OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I'VE SEEN BUT CAUTION ANYONE WHO PLANS TO TACKLE THIS JOB TO BE PREPARED FOR A GRUELING JOB.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to turn in direction with the ABS warning light illuminated. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally, but the failure reoccurred. Recently, the failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was restarted, but failed to self-correct. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V100000 (STEERING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 85,000. The VIN was not available.

When I am driving with my seatbelt on for no reason at all my seatbelt comes undone doesn't happen all the time but Several times it has happened to me. And then there is something wrong with the transmission. Doesn't shift right away so it like jerks or lunges when it finally goes into gear. I have noticed both of these problems since 2/28/2025

My brake lights are not going off when I take my foot off of the brake pedal. I have had to start disconnecting the battery cable so it will not drain the battery. I stop lamp switch replaced when it was recalled. And the steering wheel tilt does not stay in the high spot it falls to the lowest position.

ABS Module short circuit, I am aware of the current recall in effect for 2011 Hyundai Elantra's but it should be noted that my vehicle also has the same issue, short circuit causing the ABS motor to run constantly. Issue was discovered by mechanic, I opted to disconnect the ABS module, as replacement is unaffordable. Is there any plan to expand the recall to include my vehicle?

On July 25, 2023, I was driving in our town when I heard a noise coming from the rear of the car. I was very close to a repair facility that I sometimes use, so I slowly drove there. They looked at the car and showed me that the rear driver-side wheel was about to fall off. They then raised the car in the shop and told me that the rear upper-control arm had rusted through and broken, causing the wheel to break off. They showed me a photo of this. I was also told that had this happened on a highway at a higher speed, there could have been fatalities because control of the car would have been seriously affected. I contacted Hyundai about this and they told me to take to a dealer to be looked at. I refused to pay for this inspection and I now do not trust Hyundai.

Clockspring has failed . Hyundai has extended the clockspring warranty for 2011 to 2014 Elantras to a 15-year unlimited mileage but has excluded the 2010 models for some reason. I would like Hyundai to extend the warranty to all affected vehicles as it is a safety hazard.

I have a 2010 Hyundai elantra. Two times in the last 3 months I was driving and for no reason at all my car would rev up and my speed would accelerate. In October this happened I was so scared that I quickly turned into a gas station and was hit by another vehicle. The next time it happened I was lucky on the road that wasn't busy and I was able to just take my foot off the gas until it returned to normal. After that I had no more issues until about 2 weeks ago. I was driving around 30 miles an hour when the engine just shuts down. But the power was still there. I honestly don't know how to explain it. first I tried pressing the gas pedal nothing happened no movement, no sound, nothing. So I put the car and park because it was still in drive. After that I tried restarting car and it sounded like it wanted to start but it wouldn't. Try it again nothing. thinking it was a bad connection to the battery I got out and checked battery and terminals. It looked fine and I had no way of testing so I had to push my vehicle out of the street. Luckily Two Gentlemen came over and help me push. Thinking still it was just the battery I called roadside assistance and someone from the company came and tried jump starting my car with no luck. I ended up having to get my car towed. Next day I tried starting with no luck. Try it again yesterday and it makes this fast ticking or clicking noise automatically before I even try to start it and it doesn't stop until I turn off the key. And the worst part about all this is I'm not even in the town I live I'm at a friend's house sitting an hour and a half away from my apartment. I can't bring to a mechanic because it doesn't drive and I don't have the money to fix it. I won't be able to have Christmas with my family because of this issue. I'm honestly just dumbfounded I don't have a clue of what to do or what happened. Please file a report so no one else ends up in my situation if you could provide any help in this matter I would be grateful

THERE HAVE BEEN MANY BREAK INS SINCE 2014. I GOT THIS CAR 02/2014 AND SINCE 07/2014 THERE HAVE MULTIPLE BREAK INS INTO THIS VEHICLE. CONFIRMED BY LAKELAND HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN 2016. THIS DEALERSHIP AGREED TO TAKE THE CAR FOR A DAY TO DO A THOROUGH INSPECTION TO SEARCH FOR ANYTHING THAT SHOULD NOT BE ON THE VEHICLE IF I AGREED TO PAY A FEE. I WAS ADVISED BY THIS DEALERSHIP TO TAKE IT BACK TO HOLLER HYUNDAI IN MAITLAND OR WINTER PARK, FL AND SEE IF THEY WOULD AGREE TO DO THE INSPECTION HERE WITHOUT CHARGE EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE OUT OF WARRANTY. HOLLER HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO DO THE INSPECTION, ONLY FEW SELECTIVE STORES IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA HAVE THIS EQUIPMENT. ELECTRICAL WIRES SEEM TO CAUSE SKIPPING, AND HOW THE CAR FUNCTIONS WHEN IN MOTION. JUST TWO DAYS, I DISCOVERED A BLACK JACKET WAS TAKEN FROM THE CAR. OTHER ITEMS MISSING FROM THE VEHICLE SINCE THEN WAS: A VERY EXPENSIVE BURGANDY HANDHELD BLOW DRYER; CLOTHES; AND OTHER PERSONAL ITEMS THAT WERE HIDDEN INSIDE THE VEHICLE WERE STOLEN. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO MAKES A CLICKING OR KNOCKING SOUND WHEN STEERING IT AND WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT IT MAKES A CREAKING NOISE. WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR, IT SEEMS THAT IT CREAKS ONCE THE WEIGHT IS LIFTED. THE CREAKING IS EITHER WHEN STATIONARY OR WHEN GOING AT A LOW SPEED OVER HUMPS AND WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. WHEN DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED OR DOING THE SPEED LIMIT, YOU DON'T HEAR THE CREAKING, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL STILL KNOCKS. SITTING IN TRAFFIC ON 405 FREEWAY NEAR EXIT 52 GOING SOUTH TO WORK WHEN I WAS REAR-ENDED BY A 2013 NISSAN. BACK AND FRONT OF CAR FOLDED UP, I WAS EJECTED FROM THE SEAT BELT (OPENED UP AND FLEW INTO PASSENGER SEAT) AND NOT ONE AIR BAG OPENED. PURCHASED ELANTRA JULY 12, 2012. I CALLED MY BROTHER FOR FINANCING INFORMATION. HE CAME TO THE DEALERSHIP. MAZDA OF ORANGE. WHEN HE STARTED READING THE CONTRACT THE BECAME VERY UPSET. HE CALLED OUT THE SALESMAN FOR THE EXTRA CHARGES, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ME, BY NOT TELLING ME I DIDN'T HAVE TO ADD THESE THINGS. THE MANAGER, ASK ME TO COME TO HIS OFFICE TO CLOSE THE DEAL. I NEEDED A CO-SIGNER. A FRIEND OF MINE SAID HE WOULD CO-SIGN. WE SIGNED. THE FIRST MALFUNCTION WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL. I WAS IN THE NUMBER ONE LANE THE TRAFFIC BEGAN TO SLOW. SO I TAPPED THE BRAKE, AGAIN AND AGAIN, IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. EVEN THOUGH I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES. I WAS TERRIFIED AND TREMBLING. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS WHEN, I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK. EVEN THOUGH I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE CAR SPED UP WENT OVER TWO CEMENT STOPS ULTIMATELY HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. THIS VEHICLE WAS PUSHED BACK APPROXIMATELY 6 FT. THE THIRD MALFUNCTION, WAS SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2013. UPON THE REQUEST OF A FRIEND, I PICK UP HER DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL. WHEN WE GOT HOME, I PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY ON A SLANT. WE REMOVED THE PACKAGES FROM THE TRUNK INTO THE HOUSE. I SAT DOWN IN THE DRIVERS SEAT, WITH MY FEET OUTSIDE THE CAR ON THE PAVEMENT. THE CAR LUNGED VERY HARD AND FAST BACKWARDS. THE RIMS ON MY 5 YEAR OLD CAR LOOK LIKE IT WAS PARKED IN THE OCEAN THEY ARE RUSTING SO BAD AND THIS CAR HAS NEVER LIVED NORTH OF CAROLINA. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS DEFECT IS GOING TO CAUSE MY WHEEL TO FALL OFF ONE DAY. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED POPPING OR CATCHING WHENEVER I TRY TO TURN THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT, BUT DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST, SO IT WILL COST $110 JUST TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. ENGINE TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT. I NOTICE SOMETHING WAS WRONG WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY WENT SILENT WITHOUT EVEN THE TYPICAL ENGINE VIBRATIONS. THE CHECK ENGINE AS WELL AS OTHER NOTIFICATIONS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. I CANNOT SAY EXACTLY WHICH ONES BECAUSE I WAS TOO FOCUSED ON GETTING MY CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. I TURNED THE IGNITION KEY OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THAT SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM (OR AT LEAST THE CAR STARTED AGAIN AND NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED.) THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY SCARY PROBLEM AND I AM THANKFUL IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS AT A STOP AND WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, I SUDDENLY HAD A UNINTENDED AND VERY RAPID ACCELERATION. WITH MY FOOT MASHING THE BRAKE PEDAL I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE CAR ENOUGH TO COMPLETE THE PARK (IT DID NOT COMPLETELY STOP). I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE REALLY REVVED UP. ONCE I WAS SURE THE CAR WAS NOT GOING ANYWHERE, I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE (AND NOT ON THE GAS PEDAL). I THEN TOUCHED THE GAS PEDAL (OR SHIFTED IN PARK) AND THE ENGINE WENT BACK TO NORMAL. I CHECKED THE FLOOR MAT AND IT WAS IN NORMAL POSITION. I HAD A SIMILAR BUT WAY LESS DRAMATIC (MUCH LOWER RPMS) A MONTH PREVIOUS. THE CAR ACTED FINE AFTER THIS. I REPORTED THIS TO HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA AND THEY ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER TO ME. I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON I85 SOUTH APPROACHING THE EXIT 17 WHERE I HAD PLANNED TO EXIT, AS I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKE THE ENGINE WAS RACING, AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, I COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, I TURNED RIGHT ONTO THE EXIT, THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN, I COULD NOT MAKE THE COMPLETE TURN, I FRACTURED MY LEFT THUMB, AND BROKE THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TRYING TO AVOID CRASHING INTO SOME TREES THAT WERE IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE, I CONTINUED TO TRY TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT IT KEPT GOING; I ENDED UP CRASHING INTO AN EMBANKMENT JUST A COUPLE OF FEET OFF OF THE RAMP ROAD ON I85 NORTH. THE BODY SHOP WHILE WRITING AN ESTIMATE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ACCELERATOR IS STILL STUCK (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL). I DID CONTACT HYUNDAI AND SENT THEM AUTHORIZATION TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER AFTER READING ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND THE PROBLEMS OF OTHER DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THE COMPONENT, I DECIDED TO CONTACT YOUR OFFICE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS CUT OFF BY ANOTHER CAR. I WAS TRAVELLING ABOUT 50MPH, I PROCEEDED TO BRAKE (DID NOT REQUIRE HARD BRAKING, BECAUSE ME SPEED WAS NOT HIGH) AND STEER TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR THAT CUT ME OFF. AS I PULLED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY LOUD RATTLING AND SCRAPING SOUNDS AND SOUNDS OF SPRINGS STRETCHING AND BREAKING WERE COMING FROM THE LEFT REAR WHEEL, I LOOKED FOR ANYTHING FOREIGN STUCK IN THE WHEELS AND SAW NOTHING. THE DEALER SAID ALL THEY FOUND WAS RUST ON THE ROTOR. GIVE ME A BREAK, ALL ROTORS RUST AND IT RAINED ALL DAY SUNDAY BEFORE THEY LOOKED AT THE CAR. I HAD DRIVEN THE CAR AT LEAST 45 MILES THAT SATURDAY BEFORE THIS ALL OCCURRED, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO RUST LEFT ON THE BRAKING SURFACE OF THE ROTORS BY THEN. BESIDES RUST DOES NOT CAUSE THE SOUNDS THAT I HEARD. ALSO WHEN THE CAR WAS UP ON THE FLAT-BED I NOTICED THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WAS ON A SLANT. I WILL ASK THE DEALER TO FULLY INSPECT THE SUSPENSION AND IF THEY CAN PULL THE REAR ROTORS OFF TO INSPECT THE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND TO CHECK OUT WHY THE TRUNK LID OPENS BY ITSELF ON TUESDAY 03/08/11, AND I WILL LET THE NHTSA KNOW THE RESULTS. VEHICLE STALLED I HAVE HAD 7 TIMES THAT THIS HAPPEN, STARTING ON MAY 27, MAY 28, JUNE 3 THEY KEPT THE CAR TILL JUNE 8 THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS GOOD ,AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY KIDS INSIDE IT STALLED AS I WAS DOING 70 MILES PER HOUR ON M 53 ON JUNE 9 THEY KEPT THE CAR AGAIN GOT IT BACK ON JUNE 14 ,AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM DEALERSHIP AGAIN IT STALLED THEY TOLD IF I COULD BRING IT BACK THE NEXT DAY ON THE 15 OF JUNE AS I WAS GOING TO BRING THE CAR BACK IT STALLED AGAIN . THEY KEPT MY CAR TILL JUNE 25 . THEN I SEPT,4 THE CAR STALLS LOST ALL POWER AGAIN THIS I HAD TO SWERVE AND TURN MY STEERING WHEEL WITH ALL MY POWER TO AVOID HITTING THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND HIT A TREE HEAD ON CAUSING INJURY TO ME AND THE CAR HAD $4600 OF DAMAGE, AND THEN AGAIN ON DEC 20 I HAD ANOTHER ACCIDENT I WAS 4 CARS LENGTH AWAY WHEN I COULD STOP MY CAR CAUSING DAMAGES TO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ,AND ALSO MY CAR HAS ANOTHER $ 5 000 PLUS AND WHEN I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THE DEALERSHIP NOTHING IS BEEN DONE ON THEIR PART. *TR

I TOOK DELIVERY OF THE BRAND NEW CAR & ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD I NOTICED PROMINENT BOUNCES AFTER THE CAR WOULD GO OVER BUMP IN THE ROAD WHEN THE CAR WAS DECELERATING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I FELT A TOTAL OF THREE BOUNCES WITH THE FIRST BEING THE LARGEST, SECOND HALF OF FIRST, THIRD HALF OF SECOND, & FOURTH COULDN'T BE FELT. IT WAS BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC & GOING LIGHT TO LIGHT. THE BUMPS WERE RAISE SECTIONS OF THE ROAD AFFECTING ALL FOUR TIRES. THE BUMPS WERE NOT POTHOLES. I EMAILED MY SALESPERSON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY OF THE PROBLEM WITH NO RESPONSE. MY MAIN CONCERN IS HIGHWAY DRIVING. ONE STRETCH OF HIGHWAY HAS CEMENT SLABS IN AN UNDULATING PATTERN THAT I HAVE DRIVEN OVER DAILY FOR A VERY LONG TIME AT MANY DIFFERENT SPEEDS & IN MANY DIFFERENT DRIVING CONDITIONS. MY PREVIOUS CAR WOULD REACT BY RUMBLING UP & DOWN. THAT SENSATION WAS CONSTANT OVER THE YEARS AT ANY SPEED & DRIVING CONDITION. ONCE I CLEARED THAT SECTION OF THE BAD HIGHWAY, MY CAR WOULD IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE FIRST TIME I WENT OVER THAT SAME STRETCH OF HIGHWAY IN MY NEW CAR AT AN EST. 60-65 MPH, THE CAR BEGIN TO OSCILLATE HARMONICALLY (BOUNCE RHYTHMICALLY) & CONTINUED TO HARMONICALLY OSCILLATE (BOUNCE) ONCE I CLEARED THAT BAD SECTION OF THE HIGHWAY FOR AN ADDITIONAL MINUTE. I ESTIMATED THE TOTAL TIME AT TWO MINUTES. THE HARMONIC OSCILLATION FELT VERY CONSISTENT OVER THAT TWO MINUTE STRETCH. ONCE I WENT OVER ANOTHER BUMP THE OSCILLATION WENT STOPPED. THE STRUTS ARE SUPPOSED TO DAMPEN THE OSCILLATIONS. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE IT & SAID THE SUSPENSION FELT FIRM. THE SUSPENSION CHECKED OUT OK (NO NUMBERS GIVEN). IT HAS A SPORT TUNED SUSPENSION & WAS SUPPOSE TO DO THIS. THE MECHANIC DIDN'T DRIVE THE BAD SECTION OF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT WAS TOO FAR AWAY. I WILL TRY TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER WITH THE HYUNDAI'S FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER.

AM THE OWNER OF A 2010 ELANTRA WHICH WAS PURCHASED NEW IN THE SPRING AND HAVE EXPERIENCED MY TRUNK OPEN SUDDENLY MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST 10 MONTHS - EITHER WHILE DRIVING AND/OR IN THE GARAGE. ONCE WHERE IT WAS PARKED FOR 4 DAYS AND RESULTED IN THE BATTERY DISCHARGING FULLY BECAUSE THE TRUNK LIGHT WAS LEFT ON. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT I MUST SOMEHOW BE PRESSING THE FOB BUTTON TO OPEN THE TRUNK, WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN THE CASE. THE ACTUAL FOB BUTTON REQUIRES A LOT OF PRESSURE TO OPEN THE TRUNK. *TR
