These cars has some serious engine issues they are literally defective I've had 5 different engines installed in my car I keep the maintenance up on my car but its still no luck with the engines I've risked my life from almost having accidents due to engine failure I have proof that these calls have been engines and I honestly feel like it's a serious issue that needs to be adjusted

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal rattling sound emanating from the engine compartment, after which the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred a week later. The vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic, who again diagnosed a failure with the engine and informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced a second time. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred three additional times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to start and made a continuous clicking sound before starting. Additionally, while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the ABS, and traction control warning lights were illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a drained battery. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken to the same independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a faulty tensioner. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken to the same independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with an unknown failure. The mechanic stated that there was no available fix for the vehicle and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 210,034. The VIN was not available.

Car shuts off while driving for no reason. Happens last time on the beltway. No check engine light or warning that it will cut off. Doesn’t happen at the mechanics. No one knows why it happens. I see this is an ongoing issue for Genesis

I bought the car new, it has 39k miles on it. 5k miles ago while repairing the water pump under the 10 year powertrain warranty, I reported to the dealership the engine was making bad knocking/grinding sounds at startup and the oil consumption was high. The dealership dismissed this as "normal" for this car. 2 weeks ago the engine seized up without warning, no loss of power or harshness, no engine check light or low pressure warning. I had just left the I15 in rush hour traffic traveling at 70mph. The starter could barely turn the engine, I thought it was a flat battery. After some time I managed to restart the engine that now sounded like a machine gun and limp a few miles home. I tried replacing the oil, which I do on a regular basis, and it contained metal fragments. The warranty expired in Dec 21 but I still contacted the dealership. They have inspected the car and report engine damage requiring $3,200 of parts. Both the dealership and myself have contacted Hyundai Corp. and opened a Consumer Affairs Case on 5/25. Yesterday, 5/24, the case manager spoke to me to get details and obtain evidence I might have including original proof of ownership (documents he should already have). He told me he would have a decision in 2 to 4 weeks. I asked about leaving the car at the dealership, and he replied that it was the dealerships decision, but I would probably need to remove it. I would consider the car dangerous to drive, but the case manager does not seem to consider this and my impression is that Hyundai will refuse any responsibility for this problem. After googling this, I see you have sued Hyundai for what appears to be exactly the same manufacturing problems in other engines from the same time and wonder if these should also apply to the 5.0 liter engines. Has Hyundai acknowledged a problem with these engines and corrected it? If so, why has a recall not been issued, and I not charged for their manufacturing mistake? The dealership has rebuilt the engine and returned my car, charging me $3400.

2012 HYUNDAI GENESIS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 13V-489. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING NOISE. WHILE BRAKING. ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE RUSTED AND REPLACED. THE VEHICLE MADE A WHINE NOISE AT COLD STARTS. TRANSMISSION ASSMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE NOISE CONTINUED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO TRANSPORT THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED.

Brake system failure. Brake pedal and goes all the way to the floor. Hyundai dealership explained that the HECU has failed. In 2014 there was a recall on this car for this issue, Hyundai Recall 114. This recall was for "GENESIS SEDAN HECU INSPECTION AND BRAKE FLUID REPLACEMENT". The known issue is that the part breaks down over time and just changing the brake fluid doesn’t stop the corrosion process. The HECU part should have been replaced and not allowed to degrade further as it has now done on my vehicle.

APPROACHED AN EXIT FROM A PARKING LOT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKE. WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL AND GET THE BRAKES TO WORK. THE PEDAL NOW IS ABOUT HALF OF WHAT IT USED TO BE AND REQUIRES PUMPING EACH TIME THE BRAKES ARE USED TO APPLY THE BRAKES. PEDAL IS ERRATIC; SOMETIMES I HAVE ABOUT HALF PEDAL BEFORE A FIRM BRAKE PEDAL. OTHER TIMES IT IS EVEN LOWER. I HAVE NO PICTURES OR DOCUMENTATION TO INCLUDE THAT WOULD BE RELEVANT TO THIS ISSUE.

Vehicle shuts off at red lights or when making very low speed turns. Indicator on dash shows 'KEY' symbol and sometimes battery symbol. I then have to shift to park or neutral to push button restart vehicle. Other times I'm parked with vehicle idling and it simply shuts off. This issue puts me at risk because it shuts off while driving on public roads with other vehicles. The repair shop can't find out why this is happening and the vehicle flashes no check engine light and there are no stored codes. This began a couple months after I had a new battery installed in the vehicle and put a new battery in the key fob. Vehicle now, no longer recognizes key fob. I have to manually insert key fob into a key fob slot inside vehicle in order to crank it. This seems to be an issue with the 2012 model Genesis, as I have read on several online forums of other owners experiencing the same problem.

During normal driving conditions, the 8 speed automatic transmission will randomly hesitate to upshift from 2nd to 3rd and from 4th to 5th, causing an unpredictable loss of power. Symptoms will show up intermittently, and do not seem to be caused by certain events. This is unsafe because the unpredictability of the problem could cause power loss during moments where acceleration is needed to avoid an accident (moments which would otherwise be completely safe, i.e. merging onto a freeway, turning across incoming traffic, right turns into the direction of traffic, etc.) This problem already has a TSB issued by Hyundai. Problem has been reproduce by a technician. Component has been checked by a technician. There are no warning lights or other symptoms before failure.

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact stated that the check engine light was later illuminated, and the vehicle was taken to a second independent mechanic. The mechanic retrieved a code for a defective pressure sensor. Upon investigation, the contact discovered Manufacturer Communication Number: 16-8at-011) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the Manufacturer Communication Number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 155,620.

THE HYUNDAI GENESIS HAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHERE IT SLIPS OUT OF GEAR AND ROUGH SHIFTS 2-3RD GEAR AND 4-5TH GEAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THEY UPDATED SOFTWARE, NO CHANGE. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI MULTIPLE TIMES. I AM SECOND OWNER OF VEHICLE WITH 45K ON IT. THEY WOULD NOT HONOR FACTORY WARRANTY SINCE I AM SECOND OWNER. THE TSB NO. 15-AT-005 APPLIES TO THIS PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED INSTEAD OF TSB.

WHEN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS IN THE ON POSITION, AS OPPOSED TO AUTO, THE HEADLIGHTS MAY OCCASIONALLY FLICKER. THIS PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED BY USING THE TURN SIGNALS. SOMETIMES THE HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF COMPLETELY WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL IS ACTIVATED AND I HAVE TO MOVE THE TURN SIGNAL STALK UNTIL THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON. AGAIN, THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE IN AUTO. IT'S MOSTLY NOTICEABLE IN THE RAIN WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS DON'T COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND I HAVE TO TURN THEM ON MANUALLY. I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE IN 2015 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD.

Driver's side passenger door lock does not electronically function--either by key fob or by driver's control. Passenger door must be manually locked and unlocked. This defect was present from time car was purchased new but was only discovered after car was out-of-warranty since passenger door had never been used until grandchildren began using back seat. This represents an safety hazard in the event that back-seat passenger needs to exit car quickly via electronic means. We are aware that this defect is quite common among 2012 Hyundai Genesis owners. Hyundai Motors of America knows that this was a manufacturing design defect but thus far, is unwilling to support warranty repair. Warranty repair is quite costly, averaging $700-900, and this is likely the reason why HMA has elected to publicly hide and ignore the issue.

I am reporting an electrical problem w my 2012 hyundai Genesis. My back driver's side door lock just stopped working in 2021 & a few months later , my front passenger seat door locks also stopped working. I brought it in to the dealer this morning to have both locks checked. I know the back seat door lock is the actuator & im assuming that’s the issue w the front one too. I’m waiting to hear back from the dealer what the problem is, but actuators on the 2012 genesis are defective or it’s an electrical problem. No accidents happened bc of it, I was just told to report this issue.

The rear view camera continues to not work properly. The camera screen will either display a black or scrambled view or none at all. This happens periodically from month to month. When the screen becomes scrambled, it creates a major safety issue. If there was an person or object directly behind the car when backing up, you would not be able to see it. There are no warnings or notifications from the car when this happens.

While turning at low speeds, the vehicle will turn off completely. This kills all power steering and brakes. This has occurred on several occasions and is documented on the web and genesis forums by other Hyundai owners as well, so this is not an isolated case. There was no warning of any kind that the car would be shutting down. The problem has not been reproduced by the dealer and that is the problem....you never know when it's going to happen and is extremely dangerous.

Brakes are spongy/soft - My car has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership and an ABS control module replacement has been recommended at cost of $2901. A safety recall campaign was issued in 2012 to include "certain 2009-2012MY Genesis (BH) produced from April 30, 2008 to March 28, 2012 (Recall #114). On May 9, 2022, TSB #22-BR-001H-1 was issued. My car's VIN indicates that my car was produced March 30, 2012 and the repair under the "extended warranty" has been denied because my car was produced two days later and therefore not included in the safety recall. I have reached out to Hyundai and I have a case manager assigned to me.

ECBM Electronic Control Brake Module malfunctioned at 78,500 miles and dealer could not fix because computer would not read anything. Cold have caused a serious accident if it had happened when driving.

if the brakes are hit hard and ABS engages, the pedal immediately goes soft and stays soft braking is impared bu 50% until the ABS module resets itself randomly but only after parking the car for a while. this has happened 2X to my car and there are multiple reports on the genesis forums about the exact same issue

ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED 4 TIMES WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH ALL THE ICONS LIKE IT DOES WHEN YOU PRESS START ON THE CAR WITHOUT ACTUALLY TURNING IT ON. THE CAR WILL NOT START WHEN THE TEMP OUTSIDE IS ~40 DEGREES F OR LOWER OUTSIDE. IT WILL CRANK NON STOP (PUSH BUTTON START) BUT WON'T EVER START. CAR BATTERY IS ONLY TWO MONTHS OLD. CRANKS FINE WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMP RAISES BACK UP TO AROUND 45 DEGREES F AND UP. WHILE DRIVING TODAY ON THE INTERSTATE, ON THE BRIDGE, THE CAR RANDOMLY LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. TRYING TO STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL WOULD RESULT IN THE CAR STUDDERING. I TURNED ON THE EMERGENCY SIGNAL AND JUST CRUISED INTO THE SIDE LANE OUT OF TRAFFIC. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON AND NOTICED THE RPM IDLED AT 1500 RPM WHICH IS INSANELY HIGH. I PUT IT IN 1ST GEAR AND GAVE IT GAS, AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE RPM METER WOULDN'T GO UP. CYLINDERS WERE MISFIRING. DEALER SAID IT WAS DUE TO COMPUTER SOFTWARE ISSUE WHICH CAUSED INSUFFICIENT FUEL DELIVERY TO THE CYLINDERS. DEALER UPDATED SOFTWARE WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED, THE CAR LOST SOME OF ITS POWER AND VIBRATED. I WAS ON A SIDE STREET WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC AT THE TIME, SO THE HAZARD WAS MINIMAL. BOUGHT NEW IN JULY 2012. CAR HAS AROUND 46K ON IT. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 OF THE 4 MICHELIN ENERGY SAVER A/S TIRES BECAUSE OF CRACKING IN THE SIDEWALLS. BOTH HAD CHUNKS MISSING AND THE CRACKING/ROT WAS SPREADING. I DROVE ON THEM FOR MONTHS LIKE THAT, LUCKILY WITHOUT INCIDENT. I BOUGHT A PAIR USED TO REPLACE THEM SO I COULD GET FULL WEAR OUT OF THE REMAINING TOO, BUT I AM WARY OF BUYING MICHELINS FOR MY NEXT SET.

MY TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR WAS ON YESTERDAY MORNING SO I PUT AIR IN MY DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE, HOWEVER THIS MORNING I NOTICE IT NEED MORE AIR AGAIN, THEREFORE I TOOK THE CAR TO SAMS AUTO SERVICE AND AFTER INSPECTION THE GENTLEMAN TOLD ME THE TIRE CANNOT BE REPAIR BECAUSE IT IS WORN ON THE INSIDE TRIM OF THE TIRE AND ITS NOT DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, STATES HE HAS NEVER SEEN A TIRE IN THIS CONDITION BECAUSE THE REST OF THE TIRE HAS GOOD THREAD WEAR AND APPEARS GOOD IF YOUR LOOKING FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TIRE. STRONGLY FEELS ITS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR A YEAR AGO AND IM GONNA TAKE IT IN TOMMORROW AND PRAY THEY WILL REPLACE IT AT THERE EXPENSE EXPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE PUT ONLY 28,000 MILES ON THE TIRES....

ALSO, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE RIM WAS SLIGHTLY DAMAGED. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE LIGHT METAL MATERIALS USED TO DESIGN THE RIMS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

THE REAR CENTER SEAT BELT ANCHOR AND THE LEFT SEAT BELT ANCHOR ARE REVERSED. WHEN ONE PASSENGER FASTENS THEIR SEAT BELT IT COVERS THE ANCHOR POINT FOR THE OTHER PASSENGER. THE ONLY WAY TO CONNECT BOTH IS TO TWIST THE SEAT BELTS ACROSS EACH OTHER. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, THE APPLIED FORCES WOULD NOT BE IN LINE WITH THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR POINTS AND WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT CONFORM TO THE INTENDED DESIGNS PARAMETERS. The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The contact had engaged the windshield wipers during a light rainstorm and noticed that the intermittent wiper function was not working as designed. The contact stated that gradually the wiper speeds were no longer functional, and only the high-speed option was operable. The contact had taken the vehicle to the local dealer who diagnosed that the gasket around the wiper motor had failed, and that water had entered the wiper motor and determined that the wiper motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred; however, the contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer and was advised that the vehicle was no longer under warranty and had to be repaired out-of-pocket. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the gasket around the wiper motor had deteriorated, and water was leaking into the wiper motor's electrical circuits. The contact was advised by the mechanic that there was a recall, NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V117000 (Visibility); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

HAVE A WHITISH, GREY CONDENSATION CREEPING UP ABOUT 3" FROM THE LOWER PART OF THE WINDSHIELD AND ALSO ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WINDOWS, FRONT AND BACK AND THE REAR WINDOW. ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE MOLD. *JS AT THE DEALERSHIP, CHECKED OUT 5 OTHER GENESIS, THEY ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NO OTHER MODEL OF HYUNDAI'S HAD THIS PROBLEM. THIS MOLDY LOOKING CONDENSATION/MOISTURE IS INSIDE THE WINDOW ITSELF, NOT TOUCHABLE ON EITHER SIDE OF WINDOW. AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE THE MOLDY APPEARANCE SUBSIDES AND THE WINDOWS APPEAR LIKE DOUBLE PANE WINDOWS WITH A BROKEN SEAL.

The contact stated that vehicle was taken to the dealer to be serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V489000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, days later the contact stated that while driving the brake pedal was depressed and felt spongy while the vehicle was coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the brake rotors were replaced on the vehicle. The contact stated that failure reoccurred approximately 25,000 miles later; however, the vehicle was not taken back to dealer for diagnosis to be repaired. The contact stated that at 35,666 miles, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where he was informed that the front brakes needed to be replaced. Additionally, an abnormal noise was heard coming from the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The transmission and front brakes were replaced. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle after picking it up from the dealer, he heard a popping sound. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where he was informed to reinstall the old transmission. The transmission was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified and case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

WHILE IN ROUTE TO THE DEALER FOR ONE ISSUE, MY SMART CRUISE LIGHT CAME ON. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER UPON ARRIVAL AND THEY IGNORED. THEY REPAIRED ONE ITEM UNDER WARRANTY IN WHICH I THOUGH TOOK CARE OF BOTH. BY TIME I LEFT, ALLOWED THE CAR TO WARM UP; THE SMART CRUISE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP & ASKED THEM WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS 2ND ISSUE. THEY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AND I WAS INFORMED BY THAT TIME AND VISIT; THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY $4200 TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM THAT THEY NOW SEE. I HAD ALSO BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT MY ABS/ESC/AUTO HOLD LIGHTS WERE CONSTANTLY FLASHING, NOW THEY REMAIN SOLID. IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO JERK WHEN IN REVERSE. I HAVE READ ABOUT SEVERAL RECALLS REGARDING ISSUE. THE SITUATION HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND I WAS TOLD IT IS NOW LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. AS I EXITED THE FREEWAY I SHIFTED OUT OF 6TH GEAR (70MPH) AND PRESSED THE BRAKES TAKING IT DOWN TO 40MPH. THE RPMS CONTINUED TO REV UP TO 6K AND BEYOND. THE BRAKES DID RESPOND, SO I FELT THERE WASN'T IMMEDIATE DANGER. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED MY CAR BY TURNING OFF THE KEY. TURNING THE CAR BACK ON, NOT IN ANY GEAR, NOT PRESSING THE GAS, THE RPMS BEGAN TO REV JUST AS HIGH AGAIN. SO I TURNED THE KEY OFF AGAIN. I DECIDED TO TRY AGAIN, STARTED THE CAR, IT BEGAN REVVING UP THE RPMS. I SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AND IT BEGAN TO DECREASE IN RPM. THEN IT BECAME NORMAL. BUT NOW THERE IS A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHEN I ACCELERATE THAT WAS NOT PRESENT BEFORE. IT'S LESS NOTICEABLE AT 1ST AND 2ND GEAR, BUT GETS MORE PRONOUNCED FROM 3RD GEAR ONWARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT'S POSSIBLE THAT THE ENGINE MAY NEED REPLACED. I DID FIND THERE WAS A REPORT OF ENGINE PROCESSING FLAWS THAT COULD RESULT IN A KNOCKING NOISE ON VARIOUS NEWS SITES BUT NOTHING OFFICIAL. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 40K~ MILES. IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2011 AS I BOUGHT IT HOT OFF THE LOT AT 6MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES USING SYNTHETIC OIL ONLY. IT'S MINT. NO REASON FOR THIS TO BE OCCURRING.

SINCE NEW IT HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN ALIGNMENT. AT FIRST IT WOULD BE ALIGNED AND THEN IT WOULD TAKE 5000 MILES TO MOVE OUT OF SPEC (BAD ON ALL NUMBERS, BUT CAMBER AND CASTER ARE THE WORST). SERVICE HAS TRIED TO CLAIM IT RECEIVED FRAME DAMAGE AT SOME POINT. AFTER CONDUCTING AN UNDERCAR REVIEW THERE APPEARS TO BE NO DAMAGED SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. THERE IS A NON-STRUCTURAL PLASTIC SUPPORT AT THE BASE OF THE RADIATOR THAT WAS DISTORTED WHEN THE CAR STRUCK A TIRE TREAD ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE CARRIER, DETERMINED BRACE NOT STRUCTURAL AND DID NOT REPLACE, TREATED FOR COSMETIC DAMAGE AND RETURNED TO SERVICE. PRIOR TO THIS THE VEHICLE ALREADY HAD ISSUES WITH PREMATURE TIRE WEAR, PULLING TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND BEING ABLE TO MAINTAIN ALIGNMENT. FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 25,000 MILES I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE VEHICLE RE-ALIGNED EACH 3000 MILES. AT ONE TIME WE'D BE ABLE TO ALIGN THE SUSPENSION BUT WITHIN 500 MILES IT WOULD BEGIN MOVING BACK OUT OF SPEC. CURRENTLY THE MECHANICS ARE FINDING IT MORE DIFFICULT TO GET IT WITHIN SPEC. THE FACT THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE OVER TIME, IT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE MUST BE EITHER AN UNDERLYING DESIGN FLAW, OR THERE IS A COMPONENT FAILURE OCCURRING SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE HYUNDAI GENESIS HAS NO MECHANISM TO HANDLE CASTER OR CAMBER ADJUSTMENT. THE MECHANICS HAVE ALL STATED THAT THE ONLY OPTION TO ENABLE THE VEHICLE TO BE PROPERLY ALIGNED IS THE INSTALLATION OF A 'CAMBER/CASTER ADJUSTMENT KIT'. HOWEVER THEY SAY THIS ISN'T SOMETHING AVAILABLE FROM HYUNDAI (THOUGH I HAVE READ OTHERWISE FROM ONLINE SOURCES), AND SINCE THE VEHICLE IS STILL WITHIN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN I AM HESITANT TO HAVE SUCH A PRODUCT INSTALLED ANYWHERE BUT AT A DEALERSHIP AS I EXPECT IT WOULD LEAD TO ADDITIONAL FINGER-POINTING AND WARRANTY DEBATE DOWN THE ROAD.

IN APRIL 2017 WAS LOSING SPEED EVEN THOUGH PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL AND ACTING IF WANTING TO STALL SEVERAL TIMES WITH IN A WEEK (HAPPENING A FEW OTHER TIMES IN PAST BUT THOUGHT DUE TO BEING COLD OR BAD GAS.. WHEN THIS HAPPENED PSI LIGHT TURNED ON. HAPPENING ON FREEWAY AND WHILE MERGING ONTO FREEWAY AND OTHER TIMES ON CITY STREETS. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IN APRIL 2017 THE LAST TIME WITH THE WANTING TO STALL PROBLEM STEERING WHEEL BECAME REALLY OFF CENTER (DEALER NOTIFIED AND TAKEN TO SHOP ON 4/25/2017). ALSO WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE THE SAME DAY OF LOSING POWER WANTING TO STALL. (HAPPENING A FEW OTHER TIMES IN THE PAST). NOW AC AIR FORCE LOW AND DOESN'T COOL AS PRIOR TO BEING IN SHOP 4/2017 AND BLOWS HOT AIR AT TIMES. AIRBAG SENSORS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AS BEFORE SHOP VISIT 4/2017. HAVE HAD PAINT CHIPPING PROBLEMS ON BODY OF DRIVER DOOR AND PASSENGER DOOR AND AROUND TRUCK AREA. HAS ALSO HAD FUEL PUMP ISSUES, REPEAIRED ONCE (WHEN PUMPING GAS PUMP CONSTANTLY CLICKING OFF). MY WIFE AND I HAVE A 2012 HYUNDAI GENESIS 3.8 SEDAN. MY WIFE IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER. SHE CAME HOME ONE EVENING AND TOLD ME THAT THE CAR FAILED TO STOP AND WENT INTO THE INTERSECTION AS SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP FOR A RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE THE CAR DOWN THE STREET AND OBSERVED THAT YOU HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO STOP AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I ADDED SOME BRAKE FLUID AND PUMPED THE BRAKES. I DROVE THE CARE THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND NOTICED THAT OVER TIME THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HAD ALL THE BRAKES CHANGED. THAT COST ME OVER $320.00. THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THE CAR HAD A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER. TO SHORTEN THE STORY. DUE TO THE DEALER COST OF FROM $275.00 TO $365.00 FOR A MASTER CYLINDER. I BOUGHT 2 ONLINE AND 1 AT OREILLY AUTO PARTS. I SPENT $105.00, $81, AND $79.00 FOR EACH RESPECTIVELY. EACH TIME THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THE WERE NOT COMPATIBLE. HE WAS SO CONFLICTED BY THE PROCESS ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CARE TO THE DEALER AND TOLD ME THAT WITH ONLY 91000 MILES AND A WELL MAINTAINED 4 YEAR OLD CAR, IT IS UNHEARD OF FOR A MASTER CYLINDER TO BE FAULTY. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL NOR WAS MY VEHICLE COVERED BY MY FACTORY WARRANTEE. I AM A RETIRED AUTO THEFT OFFICER SO I DECIDED TO CHECK WITH NHTSA FOR COMPLAINTS AND RECALLS. I AM POSITIVE THAT THIS RECALL APPLIES TO MY CAR. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROCESS HAPPEN TO ME REGARDING THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. HYUNDAI WOULD NOT HELP SO I FOUND A MOTOR AT A JUNK YARD. I PAID TO HAVE IT INSTALLED. HOWEVER IT ONLY WORKS AT ONE SPEED. I WOULD LIKE IT REPLACED AND A REFUND FOR THE COST INCURRED TO FIND AND REPLACE IT. WHEN DRIVING OUR CAR, IT JUST DIES WITH NO FOR WARNING WHAT SO EVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 7 OR 8 TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, SO IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME BUT WHEN IT DOES IT CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS HAS HAPPENED DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE ALL THE WAY TO SLOWING DOWN FOR STOPPED TRAFFIC. WE STARTED WORKING WITH FORT MILL HYUNDAI OVER TWO YEARS AGO AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THINGS LIKE OUR OIL CHANGE WAS PAST DUE TO MY WIFE DOESN'T DRIVE THE CAR HARD ENOUGH, BOTH LAUGHABLE RESPONSES TO A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. WE WERE GETTING NOWHERE WITH THE DEALER SO I CONTACTED HYUNDAI CORPORATE AND AGAIN GOT A LAUGHABLE RESPONSE FROM THEIR INTERNET TEAM. WHEN I PUSHED THE ISSUE AND BROUGHT UP SOMEONE WAS GOING TO GET HURT OR KILLED AND THEY WOULD HEAR FROM AN ATTORNEY THEY HAD THEIR REGIONAL MANAGER OUT OF ATLANTA CALL ME (I BELIEVE HIS NAME IS [XXX], HE TALKED ME INTO TAKING THE CAR TO KEITH HAWTHORNE HYUNDAI AS THE FORT MILL LOCATION DID NOT FOLLOW THEIR INTERNAL PROCEDURES. IN WORKING WITH THE KEITH HAWTHORNE TEAM THEY FELT THEY COULD HELP ME OUT. AFTER HAVING MY CAR FOR 10 DAYS THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME TO PICK UP THE CAR AS HYUNDAI WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THEM TO DO ANYTHING ON THE CAR. I COMPLETELY REALIZE THE TECHNOLOGY AND COMPLEXITY OF TODAYS AUTOMOBILES AND WAS TRYING TO REMAIN PATIENT AND WORK WITH THEM EVEN THOUGH I FELT IT PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK. UNFORTUNATELY HYUNDAI HAS MADE THE DECISION TO NOT WORK WITH ME LEAVING ME NO OPTION BUT TO REACH OUT TO YOU. THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. FORTUNATELY, I HAD JUST TURNED FOR HOME ON A 25 MPH STREET SO I WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH THAT I COULD MANAGE TO AT LEAST GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DO NOT KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED 15 MINUTES EARLIER IF IT HAD SHUT DOWN ON THE BUSY INTERSTATE I WAS ON. IT DID START BACK UP AGAIN, BUT NOW AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE. HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI, BUT IF THERE FOLLOW-UP IS ANYTHING LIKE IT HAS BEEN IN THE PAST, IT WILL BE A WASTE OF MY TIME. THEY WILL JUST SAY THAT THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND SEND US A COFFEE MUG HOPING THAT WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PREVIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES: SUCH AS CAR STARTING BACK UP BY ITSELF AFTER BEING SHUT OFF, THE RADIO LITERALLY POPPING ON AND OFF, THE RADIO LOCKING ON A STATION (YOU COULD CHANGE CHANNELS, BUT THE SAME STATION KEPT PLAYING), THE NAV TURNING ON AND OFF BY ITSELF. THE CAR HAD BEEN DOING OKAY THIS YEAR UNTIL THIS MOST RECENT INCIDENT WHERE IT JUST FLAT SHUT OFF. DO NOT TRUST HYUNDAI TO SOLVE THE ISSUE AND IT IS TO SCARY TO DRIVE. AND I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A LEMON LAW IN THIS STATE. NO MATTER WHAT, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS WILL BE MY LAST HYUNDAI.

THE VEHICLE WAS HIT IN THE RIGHT REAR QUARTER AND THEN IN THE FRONT, COMPLETELY DEMOLISHING THE FRONT BODY WORK. ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED, LIKELY DUE TO THE INITIAL RIGHT REAR SIDE IMPACT. THE SOLE OCCUPANT (DRIVER) WAS NOT PROTECTED AND WAS INJURED (CRACKED PELVIS, CRACKED ORBITAL BONE, NOSE INJURY) BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS PROVIDED WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE SHOWING THE ABOVE, BUT HAS DECLINED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE BECAUSE "WE ATTEMPTED TO INSPECT YOUR VEHICLE AND BELIEVED THAT AN INSPECTION WOULD HAVE CONFIRMED THE PROPER OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAG SYSTEM." THE CAR WAS SCRAPPED ALREADY AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. PHOTOS PROVIDED TO THE MANUFACTURER (AND AVAILABLE TO YOU) DEMONSTRATE CLEARLY THAT THE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY BODYWORK WAS COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF THE CAR, YET THE DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THAT WOULD SEEM TO INDICATE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THAT INTENDED SAFETY FEATURE. THE MANUFACTURER'S ASSERTION ABOUT CONFIRMATION OF PROPER AIRBAG SYSTEM OPERATION IS NOT CREDIBLE IN VIEW OF THE FACTS. THE COMMON DENOMINATOR FOR WHAT I EXPERIENCED HAS BEEN THAT THE CAR IS MOVING SLOWLY, 5-20 MPH (7TH OR 8TH GEAR), AND YOU FLOOR THE ACCELERATOR WHILE CHANGING THE LANE (TO MERGE QUICKLY). ALL THAT HAPPENS FOR 1-2 SECONDS IS THAT THE CAR COASTS AT THE SPEED YOU WERE GOING (ABSOLUTELY NO POWER IS APPLIED TO THE WHEELS), AND YOU SEE THE REVS GOING UP AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING TO A LOWER AND LOWER GEAR (BUT NOT SENDING ANY OF THAT POWER TO THE WHEELS), UNTIL IT GETS TO THE 2ND OR 3RD GEAR AND THEN YOUR HEAD SNAPS BACK AS IT ACCELERATES VERY QUICKLY (BUT 2 SECONDS TOO LATE). SO INSTEAD OF THE EXPECTED TAKEOFF YOU GET 2 SECONDS OF COASTING WHILE THE CAR IN THE LANE THAT YOU GOT INTO IS GETTING UNCOMFORTABLY CLOSE AND HAS TO BRAKE TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO MUSCLE THE CAR OFF THE ROAD USING MOMENTUM WITH NO POWER STEERING CROSSING LANES OF TRAFFIC. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD EASILY HAVE CREATED AN ACCIDENT. PREVIOUSLY THE CAR LOST POWER AT A LIGHT AND THE NAVIGATION AND BACK UP SCREEN HAS FLICKERED AND TURNED OFF AND THE MUSIC CONTROLS FREEZE. 2012 HYUNDAI GENESIS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE UNIBODY *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHE HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING ON SIDE ROADS AT 5- 30 MPH. THE DEALER STATED THE CAUSE WAS FROM POOR WELDING ON THE UNIBODY BRACE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, NOR HAD THEY EVER SEEN SUCH A ROBOTIC WELD DEFECT ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE THEY SERVICED BEFORE.
