Total engine failure due to bearing displacement which caused the engine to fail and throw a rod. This caused 3 holes in the engine block which caused oil to pour out onto the highway. There have been multiple class action lawsuits with Hyundai due to the same issue with other Hyundai models, and I believe that this vehicle should have an engine recall as well. This is a safety issue which can cause collisions and potentially lead to injury or death

- I was driving down the road and the engine just died. When the tow truck driver showed up, he made a comment that 'he picks one of these cars (hyundai genesis) up almost everyday for the same issue'. He was the first to tell us the engine seized. - Depending on location of where this happened (ex. freeway with no place to pull over), this could have been a very dangerous situation. - The dealer has let us know that the engine did seize - The vehicle has only been inspected by the hyundai dealership service team - No prior warning signals were present before the engine seized Note - we have full service records for this vehicle

I was driving normally on the highway when my a loud noise came from the front of my car. My engine completely died, I was able to get on the shoulder of the road before power steering died. After taking it to a mechanic a rod had went thru the engine block. There was no warning at all. Hyundai has had a recall on 2.0T engines but not for the genesis engine. This failure and destruction of my engine follows with the warnings and outcomes that the recall for other 2.0T engines.

There was a recall on some Hyundai engines from 2011-2012. I have been told by Hyundai that my vehicle was not included in the recall as it is a 2013. It is the same engine and has malfunctioned in one of the cylinders rendering the car inoperable because of that engine malfunction. The car has had routine maintenance and is at 100k miles.

2013 Hyundai Genesis sedan (BH) is experiencing the intermittent soft brake pedal and reduced braking pressure that matches the TSB 22-BR-001H for the HECU on 2009-2012 Genesis sedans. I took it to the local dealership but their mechanic said they could not recreate the condition. The ABS and ESC lights have both come on at times but I was told there are no stored codes. The tech noted that the rear driver brake pads appeared to have some additional wear indicating additional ABS activity or sticking brake pads. I paid to have a brake service performed and the brake fluid flush/replacement performed to eliminate the concern of any air entrapment or sticking brake pads. However, this work did not resolve the problem. The shop said there are no open recalls nor brake related TSBs for the 2013. They have not fully tested the master cylinder, booster, nor the HECU. With no support for the model year, despite the MANY issues reported for this problem on the 2013 and Hyundai's knowledge of these problems form 2009-2020 model years, this TSB should be expanded for additional model years and likely should be considered as a recall repair due to the safety risk of brake pressure loss.

I received the letter to call the dealership to fix the recall involving the anti-lock break system. I called my local dealership in Enfield, CT and they had me bring my car in on Thursday [XXX]. So I made arrangements to leave my car there for the day. I get a call in the afternoon stating that they didn’t have the part to fix it and they would have to get it. So after being inconvenienced by not having my car for the day, the problem wasn’t even fixed. So after a couple of weeks of not hearing anything from the dealership, I called to check on it. They still didn’t have the part. So now it’s August 19th and I called again to check on it and there’s still no part to fix it. This is very discouraging since I drive this car often and there’s a fire risk of it being parked or driving. I don’t really understand what is going. Is there no part to fix the recall? recall issued for significant fire risk from ABS system. It has been over a year now and Hyundai will not even give a time estimate of when they will offer to replace the fuse block that is the fire risk. They tell me to just park my car far from any buildings?!? This is NOT a reasonable plan nor should it be this long. Waiting for the day my car combusts is not reasonable. NHTSA recommended that the dealer offer a loaner vehicle but they have not done that either.

Brake pedal has to be pushed harder than normal to get brakes to engage. Dealer has diagnosed problem as faulty ABS module which is not considered as part of recall for CCU unit on other hyundai models

Unknown. All I know is my son purchased a Genesis coupe used and within less then 48 hours. I watched the vehicle catch fire on the freeway and smoke uncontrollably. As I drove behind him. He was unaware of the first or smoke coming from the car. Finally I got his attention to pull over and now the car won't work. The seller refuses to give him a refund or mechanical assistance for his purchase. It was a sight I wouldn't wish upon no one. To watch your only child drive a car that is on fire and smoking. I wish he saw what I seen. It's unsafe for someone to sale car and someone and allow them to drive away knowing that there safety not at risk. It should be a crime. Illegal misrepresentation of a vehicle safety conditions.It should not matter if it was a dealership or private sales. It's auto fraud and should be punishable by law.

This recall is STILL not fixed. Hyundai is acting irresponsibly in not providing a remedy. It has been at least 5-6 months with no fix available.

While I am driving at around 20 mph, all of sudden engine shuts off, steering wheel is frozen, brake doesn't work, all light remained on dash board. I put it in park and start it. It comes back without any issues. No code are registered so dealer can not see the problem. Also happened in parking a lot about 5 weeks back. This is big safety issue where I might run into somebody without steering wheel and brake control.

AFTER THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON WHEN USING THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD TO PUSH AND CAUSES THE CAR TO PULL AND FAILS TO SLOW DOWN AS NORMAL. YOU THEN HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR TWO OR THREE TIMES AND THE BRAKES FUNCTION AS NORMAL AGAIN UNTIL THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE BASED ON SEVERAL FORUMS THAT I READ. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR CAR'S BRAKES UNLESS YOU SEE THE TRACTION CONTROLL LIGHT COME ON AND IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE ABS LIGHT WENT ON IT SURPRISES YOU AND YOU CAN EASILY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP IN THE NORMAL DISTANCE OR THE PULLING TO ONE SIDE ALMOST CAUSES THE CAR TO VEER INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC.

I AM HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM! EXCEPT THIS WILL BE MY 3RD TIME GETTING IT REPLACED. HYUNDAI WILL REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT RUNS OUT AND I'M STILL CONSTANTLY REPLACING IT. I HAVE REPLACED IT AT 16,000 MILES, THEN AT 34,000 MILES AND NOW AT 54,000. IF YOU NOTICE, THERE IS A TREND. CORPORATE REALLY DOESN'T HELP, THEY JUST TELL ME IT'S COVERED AND EVERYTHING IS FINE, IN REALITY THAT'S NOT TRUE. I HAVE NO WHERE ELSE TO TURN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED FOR LONG TERM DRIVING, AND I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. The contact's daughter owned a 2013 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at approximately 35 - 40 MPH, another vehicle ran a red light and crashed into the contact's daughter's rear driver's side door and tire, which caused her vehicle to spin into a 90-degree angle. None of the air bags deployed upon impact. The contact's daughter, her husband, and their thirteen-year-old daughter, who were passengers in the vehicle, later received medical treatment but did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

ON AUGUST 4,2017, I REAR-ENDED ANOTHER A TOYOTA FJ CRUISER AT ABOUT 45 MPH, BECAUSE THEY CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP ON A MAJOR HWY. HOWEVER, THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED! THIS IS UNLIKE THE TIME, A YEAR OR SO AGO, WHEN I WAS REAR-ENDED BY A MISTSUBISHI OUTLANDER, WHILE AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET. THAT TIME THE HEAD REST DEPLOYED AND I HAD MINOR DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER. I'M DISAPPOINTED. FOR A HIGH SAFETY RATING, I EXPECTED MORE FROM GENESIS. VERY SCARY WHEN YOUR LIFE IS ON THE LINE.

Last December, 12/11/2021, my son and I traveled from Pittsburgh PA to Columbus Ohio so he could buy a used car from a dealer. It was a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. We spent a few hours at the dealership, I co-signed for him, and he drove back the Hyundai while I drove my own car. Nothing was disclosed to us that we would have questioned. After a few weeks or so of driving the car, a mechanic looked at his car and told us it had been modified. I asked someone who had the same car/year/model and he confirmed this. This modification is significant, in the drive train/engine/under the hood/exhaust rather than something visual, on the outside of the car. It not only sounds far too loud as compared to the exact same year/model but drives differently. The mechanic pointed out the modifications under the hood and told us it should have been obvious to the dealer. I even googled photos of what stock engines look like and mine is definitely different. So, my son never registered the car in PA, as he wasn't sure what to do with it. He drove it for a few months for roughly 5000 miles as he had no other forms of transportation. He's been using my car instead. We can't pay for a car that just sits. It’s still registered with the dealer. The car has just been sitting because we're not sure how safe it is. One of the modifications that wasn't disclosed was a performance kind of muffler/exhaust. It is so loud that the driver can't hear sirens and horns. Also, we didn't know who installed these items. The driver could be exposed to dangerous fumes. We tried working with the dealer to no avail. At this point, we'd just like to return the car and get our money back that we paid the bank.

WE WERE AT AN INTERSECTION ON HIGHWAY 1. CARS WERE DRIVING BY AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 55MPH SO IT WAS IMPORTANT THAT WE ACCELERATE QUICKLY IN ORDER TO TURN LEFT ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND AVOID BEING HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE AND THEN WE EXPERIENCED ENGINE HESITATION, WHERE THERE WAS A MOMENTARY PERIOD WHERE THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND TO ME STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR. I REACTED BY STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR COMPLETELY TO THE BOTTOM AND STILL HAD NO RESPONSE - WE WERE COASTING. I COMPLETELY BACKED OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND STEPPED ON IT AGAIN WHEN THE ENGINE FINALLY BEGAN TO RESPOND. VEHICLES WERE FAST APPROACHING AND IN THAT MOMENT I FELT SCARED AND LOST TRUST IN MY CAR'S FUNCTIONALITY. EARLIER THAT DAY I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN ACCELERATING, WHEN ALREADY MOVING, I NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT WOULD WOBBLE. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DESCRIBE. IT FELT LIKE VERY SUBTLE MOMENTARY LOSSES OF POWER OR ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY A RECOVERY IN THE ACCELERATION AND THEN REPEATING BUT IN QUICK SUCCESSION. YOU WOULD ONLY NOTICE IT IF YOU OWNED THE CAR. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT. MAYBE IT WAS THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM BUT BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE IN A SITUATION LIKE MINE WAS VERY DANGEROUS.

IN THE MORNING AROUND 9AM GOING TO WORK ON 405 NORTH. ALL THE SUDDEN I STARTED TO LOSE POWER, ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT DIDN'T ACCELERATE AT ALL, I CAME TO STOP END UP BLOCKING ON OF RIGHT LANE AND NOTICED ENGINE SOUND WAS UNUSUAL AND STARTED SHAKING A LOT. I CALLED HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND MY CAR WAS PICKED UP AND DROPPED TO A KIRKLAND HYUNDAI DEALER BUT THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING UNUSUAL. SERVICE SHOP PERSONAL CLAIM THAT CAR STARTED RIGHT UP AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING FROM DIAGNOSTICS TEST. THIS INCIDENT MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS TO DRIVE THIS CAR. *JS

AUTO HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATED HARD; IT FALLS FLAT ON ITS FACE WHEN CALLED ON TO PERFORM. NOT SURE IF IT IS ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION (WRONG GEAR). 2013 GENESIS HAS NEEDED THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED FOUR TIMES IN TWO YEARS AND EACH TIME IT ONLY LASTS ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING THE CLOCK SPRING HAS FAILED AGAIN. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP HAS DONE REPLACEMENT WORK IN EACH CASE. MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS 07.30.19

When my car was recovered the engine was also damaged, necessitating deep engine repairs that I could not afford. My insurance hasn't agreed to cover it despite Comprehensive coverage.

THE CAR WAS INITIALLY IN 1ST GEAR AND ROLLED BACKWARD WITH FOOT ON GAS AND CLUTCH. THE SEATBELT LIGHT KEPT DINGING AND FLASHING EVEN THOUGH THE SEATBELT WAS HOOKED IN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED. THIS TIME IT OCCURRED AS WE WERE PULLING ONTO A HIGHWAY FROM A STORE. THE CAR HAD TO BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I am submitting this complaint regarding a catastrophic engine failure in my 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe while driving at 70 mph on the highway. Without any prior warning, the engine suddenly started making a loud knocking noise from under the hood, and shortly after, the car lost power. There were no check engine lights or other indicators signaling an issue before the failure. I was able to safely pull the car over to the side of the highway without further incident, but the engine was completely inoperable. The vehicle has since been inspected by a certified mechanic, who confirmed that the engine failure was due to a mechanical defect, likely tied to the known issues with Hyundai’s 2.0T engines. These engines have been reported to suffer from bearing failures and lubrication problems that can lead to catastrophic engine failure, which is consistent with my experience. Despite being aware of this widespread issue, Hyundai has yet to issue a recall for the affected vehicles, which is a serious safety concern. Drivers are at risk of unexpected engine failure with no prior warning, especially at high speeds, as was the case in my incident. I believe Hyundai’s failure to act and address this issue puts the safety of drivers in jeopardy. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigate this matter and encourage Hyundai to issue a recall for these vehicles. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request to further support the investigation. Thank you for your attention to this serious safety issue.

Brakes would lock up, posing safety risk to occupants. Other times, brakes go to floor posing risk to occupants and pedestrians. Multiple repairs, over 3 years and car cannot be driven still. Hyundai unwilling to reimburse 1000s in repair and thousands in rental/loss of use.

This car, along with millions of others, are under a recall since Sept 2023. The car could catch on fire even when parked. They have not come up with a fix. I feel that this is an extreme danger to not only myself and my property, but to others living around me. They are taking way too long for a fix to be determined and the work to be done.

Hyundai is saying I can’t park or drive without concern of a fire hazard. Hyundai was called and they said a remedy would be available by the end of the month. That was said in November and now it is the middle of January. I need a vehicle for everyday life and this is getting costly for me. Usually a remedy is to be resolved within a reasonable time, two weeks on average, contractually speaking. Please resolve this problem immediately.

Each time service was required my car had suddenly stopped running without any acceleration. The start engine button would not work. Each time car was towed to Serra Hyundai. At no time, was there any mentioning of needing a new engine or engine replacement. The service dates: 01/05/2023, 01/14/2023, and 04/14/2023. My last non acceleration occurred on night of June 4, 2023. It could have been tragic. I was accelerating to get on freeway heard a loud noise like something fell from up under car then vehicle just stopped and would not accelerate leaving me stranded and cars having to go around me. This could have been a terrible accident. I had car towed to Serra Hyundai. The services being quoted to me is a new engine with estimated cost $7900. I cannot afford that amount and I’m now without a car. However because I have kept maintenance program up on my car the service department submitted PA101761. Unfortunately, it was declined because warranty has expired. In more research, there has been a recall on 2013-2015 Genesis Coupe for the Powertrain, Engine and Suspension. Therefore, Hyundai is fully aware there is an engine issue. The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA) has 149 complaints with the same engine powertrain issues. NHTSA ID# 11435981 dated October 8, 2021 had the exact same issues with vehicle and experience(s) as myself. Hyundai has issued a recall. Recall 135, NHTSA Campaign # 15V756000 and Technical Service Bulletin(TSA)#15-01-054. In my opinion, everything described in this recall and every issue I have is outlined in this campaign. I’m being told my car VIN was not included. There have been several complaints over the years for same issue this cannot be coincidental. A recall should be issued for automatic 2013-15 Genesis Coupe to include my Vin#. Most vehicles are at or approaching 10 years and warranty expired. I currently can’t afford new car and on fixed income, or $7900 new engine on 180,000 mile car.

MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING ONTO THE FREEWAY FROM AN EXIT AND HEARD A LOUD SNAP. SHE REALIZED THAT SOMETHING SEEMED TO HAVE BROKEN UNDER HER RIGHT TIRE. SHE MANAGED TO DRIVE TO THE NEXT EXIT AND UP TO WHERE SHE WORKS. WHEN SHE GOT OUT OF HER CAR, SHE AND A FRIEND LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND REALIZED THAT THE AXLE WAS CRACKED AND COMING APART. SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME THAT NEXT MORNING FROM WORK BUT NOTICED THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING WAS GRINDING OR DRAGGING. WHEN SHE TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI THE NEXT DAY, THEY CLAIMED THAT SHE HIT SOMETHING. THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE FRONT AXLE WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT SHE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. HYUNDAI WAS VERY RUDE AND CALLED ME (HER MOTHER) AND STATED THAT SHE HAD TO HAVE HIT SOMETHING. MY DAUGHTER WAS VERY ADAMANT THAT SHE ABSOLUTELY DID NOT HIT ANYTHING BUT THAT THE AXLE JUST SNAPPED! IN ORDER TO GET IT FIXED RIGHT AWAY, WE WERE TOLD BY OUR INSURANCE THAT WE HAD TO ACCEPT FAULT AND MAKE A CLAIM. THIS IS WHAT WE DID IN ORDER TO GET IT REPAIRED RIGHT AWAY, BUT WE BOTH KNOW THAT THE AXLE HAD TO HAVE BEEN FAULTY TO BEGIN WITH. I HAVE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE HYUNDAI SANTA FE AND THEY ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE AXLES ON HYUNDAIS AND THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT MUST BE LOOKED INTO. HAD THAT AXLE BROKEN COMPLETELY WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING ONTO A BUSY FREEWAY, SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME ACTION TAKEN AGAINST HYUNDAI ABOUT THE AXLES ON HER CAR. *TR

MY CAR LITERALLY JUST SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TRIED TO TURN ONCE AND JUST SHUTS OFF. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO HE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE EMC AND IT DID DRIVE GOOD FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. HOWEVER, WHEN I HAD TO ACCELERATE FAST TO GET BY A CAR AND THE RPM WERE UP HIGHER THAN I NORMALLY DRIVE IT , I WENT HOME AND IT SAT FOR 20 MINS TOP. I GET BACK IN AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF AGAIN! I CALLED HYUNDAI NEAR ME AND THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND. TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR RENTAL CAR. I SAID I UBER WARRANTY AND THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING!! WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN AT 15MPH THE CAR LOCKED UP AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL, PRESS THE BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T EVEN ACCELERATE WHEN IT ROLLED TO A STOP. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT UP AND STAYED LIT UP. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND WASN'T MOVING. I TOOK A VIDEO OF MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AND THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WASN'T MOVING. ALSO SHOWN IN THE VIDEO I TOOK I SHOW ALL THE LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASH. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR, WIFE AND TWO KIDS. I AM VERY CONCERNED SINCE THIS OUR DAILY DRIVER AND ALWAYS HAS OUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE AND POSSIBLY CAUSE US TO GET IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. I HAVE FOUND IN FORUMS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THE ISSUE AND THAT SOMEONE HAD THEIR CRANK SHAFT CENSOR REPLACED AND HADN'T HAD ANY ISSIES FOR SEVERAL MONTHS SINCE, BUT THEIRS WAS OCCURING UP TO 10X A WEEK BEFORE THAT REPLACEMENT. I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT MY 2013 HYUNDAI GENESIS AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE FROM A DEALER IN GEORGIA. FROM AUGUST 2014 TO PRESENT (AUGUST 2015), THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED/CUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY ON 8 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, 7 TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 5 MPH AND 45 MPH, AND ONCE WHILE SITTING IDLE IN PARK. WHEN STALLING, THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENS AND/OR LOCKS WHICH MAKES IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER, THE BRAKES HARDEN WHICH MAKE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP, AND THE DASH LIGHTS UP WITH VARIOUS SYMBOLS AND INDICATORS MUCH LIKE IT WOULD IF IT ONLY HAD POWER BUT WITHOUT THE ENGINE STARTED. TO GET THE CAR GOING AGAIN, I HAVE TO COME TO A STOP, PUT THE CAR INTO PARK, PUSH THE START/STOP BUTTON, AND THE VEHICLE STARTS AGAIN. ON THE 7TH TIME OF THE CAR STALLING, MY WIFE WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN WHEN THE VEHICLE CUT OFF. SHE NEARLY PLOWED INTO A VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED AT THE LIGHT MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO THE STREET SHE WAS COMING FROM, AND THEN NEARLY CAUSED A 3 CAR PILE-UP BEHIND HER BECAUSE OF HER UNEXPECTED BRAKING AND SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CAR. AS OF RIGHT NOW WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY LONGER. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES NOW. ON THE FIRST VISIT BACK IN OCTOBER 2014, THEY CLEANED THE FUEL INJECTION AND THROTTLE BODY, SAYING THAT MAYBE WE HAD A BAD BATCH OF GAS THAT LEFT CARBON DEPOSITS. THEY KEPT OUR CAR FOR A WEEK. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. FAST FORWARD SEVERAL MONTHS AND HERE WE ARE AGAIN AT THE DEALER FOR TIME NUMBER TWO. THIS TIME THEY KEPT IT FOR ABOUT 12 DAYS AND DID ANOTHER CLEANING OF THE FUEL INJECTION AND THROTTLE BODY. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. LAST FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH 2014, 3 DAYS AFTER GETTING IT BACK FROM THE DEALER, IT STALLED AGAIN. WE REFUSED TO DRIVE IT THAT WEEKEND, AND I DROVE IT ONLY TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALER THIS PAST MONDAY AUGUST 17TH. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE SUNROOF OF MY VEHICLE SHATTERED. GLASS FLEW DOWN THE BACK OF THE CAR SCRATCHING THE BACK WINDSHIELD AND TRUNK. THE WEATHER WAS APPROXIMATELY 72 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT OUTSIDE WITH THE AC SET TO 70. THE SUNSHADE WAS CLOSED. BASED ON THE FRACTURING OF THE GLASS, IT SEEMED AS IF THE CAUSE OF THE SUNROOF BREAKING CAME FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THE GLASS WAS BOWED UPWARD AND OUTWARD FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON REVIEW OF DASH CAM FOOTAGE, THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY OUTWARD OR EXTERIOR SOURCE THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE GLASS TO BREAK.

WHEN I AND MY WIFE CAME OUT IN THE GARAGE TO GO OUT FOR DINNER, WE FOUND THE WINSHIELD HAS CRACK ON IT BIGGER THAN 1 DOLLAR BILL. WE HAVE KEPT THIS VEHICLE VERY SAFE PLACE AT HOME AND WORKING PLACE. WE HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENT VEHICLES LAST 40 YEARS, THIS IS THE FIRST EXPERIENCE. IF THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY, IT COULD BURST OUT THE GLASS AND DAMAGE HUMAN CRITICALLY. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER, WHERE THEY DID A ROAD BALANCE FORCE AND PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT. THE MAJOR SHAKING IN THE STEERING WAS GONE. WHILE TRAVELING AT THE POSTED HIGHWAY SPEED I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR LURCHED, THEN SURGED. I STARTED/TRIED TO USE THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE CAR. THAT DIDN'T WORK. I TRIED TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL...THAT DIDN'T WORK....CAR KEPT SPEEDING UP TILL I HIT A MASSIVE RV AT 90MPH. I WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS, TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO A TRAUMA CENTER, AND LATER LEARNED THAT NONE OF THE MANY AIRBAGS THAT THIS CAR HAD DID NOT DEPLOY. I AM TRULY BLESSED HAVING SURVIVED THIS ACCIDENT. I HAD 2 ACCIDENTS ON 7/7/2013. ONE LOW SPEED REAR END COLLISION WITH A MINI-VAN. THE OTHER WAS A HIGH SPEED REAR END COLLISION WITH LARGE RV. The adjustment on the steering column for telescopic/up/down adjustments doesn't hold the steering wheel in place, even under light pressure like trying to honk the horn, the column just pushes in. Since the column cannot stay in place under light pressure, it won't stay in place if the driver's airbag is deployed possibly causing severe injury or death. I first noticed this problem back in 2015, the local deal refused to fix the problem and wanted me to pay for the NEW steering column and the labor to replace it.

I brought the car in the dealership for the recall (251). The dealership was not able to fix the recall, which affected other parts of the car. The dealership could not fix the other parts. The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer. The dealership did not allow to pick up the car from their parking lot. The manufacturer refuses to pay for the car or other expensives caused by this recall.

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. There was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine. The contact was able to pull over safely. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that there were loosened screws that caused the rattling sound. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000. The engine was getting extremely hot. The front quarter panel was hot to touch, and the temperature increased inside the vehicle. The seat belt warning light was illuminated and was beeping. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the brake issues might lead to brake failure and a possible fire. SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 295 JACKSONVILLE,FL FOR REASONS UNKNOWN. Luckily interior sunroof shade was pulled close or the shattered glass fragments would have fallen on passengers heads, The sunroof OEM is a powered sunroof that was in closed position and is not used or opened often. Outside weather at time was DAY LIGHT about 4:45pm no rain temp about 55 degrees. Called local Hyundai dealer to see if there were any open recalls & TSB's related to the sunroof shattering. They said none. I have pictures if needed. I tried to upload them but your website kicked me out when I hit the upload link below.

the abs light stays on no matter what ive tried resetting it and everything and it wont work, the electrical system in the car sometimes doesnt work properly this regarding the headlights and interior buttons, the transmission on the car since i have bought it has a really dangerous kick back on it in the transmission jolts the car really hard to the point its dangerous to drive on dry and rainy days because the tires will lose traction and i will have to get the traction back under control due to the kick back in this transmsion problem it has caused the engine to give out also.

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a whining noise was heard while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer, where it was repaired under Technical Service Bulletin #15-01-054 for Rear Differential Inspection; however, the contact stated that the failure recurred and that while he was stopped at a stop signal, the vehicle lost motive power, and he noticed that the driveshaft had become detached. The vehicle was inoperable and was first towed to the residence and then back to the local dealer. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting further diagnostic and repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The car was rear-ended while in a stop and go traffic on a highway. The headrest on the driver side disintegrated exposing some hard internal parts that caused extensive head skin lacerations. The accident resulted also in and facial bruises and nose injuries. The driver and passenger were taken to Emergency Room. The car was towed away and subsequently declared a total loss.

The multi function switch on the steering column has a short within its components. When driving at night with the headlights on and I activate the multi function switch to change lanes, the headlights flicker. This is the second multi function switch that is having the same symptoms, because I had the same problem years ago and the multi function switch was replaced under warranty. It is now exhibiting the same symptoms as before but is no longer under warranty.

MY DAUGHTER GOT HIT BY 2 CARS AND ONLY THE HEADREST POPPED OPENED BUT NO AIRBAGS WENT OFF. A CAR HIT THE CAR BEHIND HER, SHE WAS A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR THAT HIT THE CAR BEHIND HER THEN HIT HER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE (ALMOST LIKE A T-BONE). SHE NOW HAS A LOT OF SHOULDER, NECK AND SPINE ISSUES FROM GETTING SLAMMED INTO THE DRIVERS DOOR. IF THE SIDE AIRBAG WOULD HAVE GONE OFF, SHE WOULD NOT BE IN SO MUCH PAIN FROM GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND AND 2 SECONDS LATER GOT HIT FROM THE SIDE. I SEE LOTS OF ISSUES ON THE COUPE BUT NOT ON THE SEDAN MODELS & I FEEL THAT OTHERS SHOULD KNOW THIS TOO. ALSO, COLORADO POLICE FORGOT TO PUT PASSENGER IN HER CAR ON THE REPORT AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. HER PASSENGER TOOK THE HIT ON PASSENGER DOOR AND THEY HAD TO PULL THE OTHER CAR OUT OF MY DAUGHTERS CAR. WE HAVE A NEW HYUNDAI GENESIS WHICH HAS A FACTORY DEFECT CAUSING A WATER LEAK AND RESULTING IN MOLD ISSUES. OUR FAMILY OF 6 HAS HAD MANY HEALTH RELATED ISSUES SINCE OWNING THIS CAR AND MOLD TESTING HAS SHOWN TOXIC MOLD. RIGHT NOW, AT MAX SETTING OF THE SWITCH, I STILL FEEL NO AIR COMING FROM ANY OF THE VENTED HOLES - ON THE SEAT AND ON THE BACK! ON JANUARY 11TH 2014, I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2013 HYUNDAI GENESIS FROM BROWN'S MANASSAS HYUNDAI IN 8651 CENTERVILLE ROAD, MANASSAS, VA 20110. ON MY INVOICE IT WAS STATED THAT IT IS A BRAND NEW CAR. TWO MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR, I HAD A SENSOR PROBLEM, WHICH I GOT FIXED IN FAIRFAX HYUNDAI WHICH IS VERY UNUSUAL FOR A BRAND NEW CAR. ON 10TH APRIL, I HEARD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR RIGHT TIRE. I TOOK IT TO OTHER HYUNDAI AGAIN. BELOW IS THE REPORT THAT THEY GAVE ME AND I WAS STUNNED. "TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THE REAR RIGHT STRUT HAD SNAP FROM BOLD ON FRAME, ONE BOLT MISSING PRIOR AND ALSO FOUND GREEN DUCT TAPE THAT WAS HOLDING THE STRUT TO THE CAR. CUSTOMER ADVISED VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IF VEHICLE IS DRIVEN THERE IS A HIGH POSSIBILITY OF THE STRUT FALLING OFF WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS AND AN ACCIDENT WILL RESULT." THERE WAS A GREEN DUCT TAPE SUPPORTING THE CAR. AFTER THIS REPORT, FOR ME IT IS PROVED THAT THIS CAR MIGHT HAVE BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT BEFORE I PURCHASED IT AND THE ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED WITHOUT REPORTING IT. EVEN THE MECHANIC WHO SHOWED ME THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR WAS SHOCKED. AFTER I GOT THE REPORT, I TOOK IT TO BROWN'S HYUNDAI MANASSAS AND TALKED WITH SERVICE MANAGER, HE TOTALLY IGNORED ME. OTHER SALES ASSOCIATES TOLD ME THEY ARE UNKNOWN WITH THIS ISSUE AND THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING FURTHER TO HELP ME. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DISLOYAL BEHAVIOR FROM A HYUNDAI EMPLOYEE. AS MECHANIC SAID, I COULD HAVE GOT INTO A MAJOR ACCIDENT. MY CONCERN IS MY FAMILY. I HAVE A TWO-YEAR-OLD NIECE WHO TRAVELS WITH ME OFTEN IN THE CAR. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN DOING THIS BEHAVIOR TO OTHER CONSUMER AS WELL AND PUTTING LIFE IN DANGER. MY CAR IS STILL IN THE FAIRFAX HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. *TR

THE VEHICLE SETS BRAKES WHEN I ACCELERATE AND BRINGS MY CAR TO A STOP. IT WILL NOT RELEASE THE BRAKES. WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP THE VEHICLE WON'T MOVE. YESTERDAY IT OCCURRED TWICE AND THE SECOND TIME A FEMALE CONTACT HER HUSBAND AND HE TOLD HER TO HAVE ME PUMP THE BRAKES TO SEE IF THEY RELEASE. THE BRAKES RELEASED. I WENT TO GO TO WORK AND THE DRIVERS DOOR OPENED, AND WOULD NOT LATCH. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, AND THE DRIVERS DOOR OPENS BY ITSELF, AND IT WILL NOT LATCH. SO AT THIS POINT I AM TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR ME, AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER TWO WEEKS AGO, AND THEY REPLACED THE DOOR ACTUATOR AGAIN. THIS DID NOT FIX THE VEHICLE THE LAST TIME THEY DID IT. I WILL NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AGAIN, DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT PUTS ME IN GRAVE DANGER. THE GENERAL MANAGER FROM NAPLETONS HYUNDAI IN WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HAS YET TO RETURN ANY OF MY CALLS. WE HAVE PURCHASED FOUR VEHICLES FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. HYUNDAI FEELS IT IS FINE FOR ME TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. IN MAY 2013 THE SERVICE MANAGER TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME FOR 5 DAYS TO SEE IF HE COULD GET THE DOOR TO MALFUNCTION, AND HE EXPERIENCED IT. THEY REPLACED THE DOOR ACTUATOR, BUT HIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE A FOUR YEAR LEASE ON THIS VEHICLE AND WE ARE AT A LOSS AS WHAT TO DO. I HAD TO PUT IN A DATE TO MAKE THIS WORK THIS A PROBLEM FROM THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR. FROM A STOP IF I ACCELERATED TO A FEW MILES PER HOUR AND FOR SOME REASON I HAD TO STOP, WHEN I PUSHED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER A SECOND OR TWO THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND IF ANOTHER CAR WAS CLOSE I WOULD HAVE I WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED IT. OBVIOUSLY, I AM EXTRA CAUTIOUS AND HAVE AVOIDED THIS PROBLEM. I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND GOT THE SAME ANSWER, "OH THEY ALL DO THAT." THE DEALERS ARE PROTECTING HYUNDAI. WHO WILL PROTECT ME? I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. ONE PERSON SAID HE TURNED OFF THE TRACKING CONTROL SYSTEM. CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRE DEFECT. TIRE SIZE: 235/45/19 95V. BOUGHT NEW FROM DEALER 2013 GENESIS RSPEC WITH CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES. A BUBBLE ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE FORMED AND THE TIRE DEFLATED OCT 7, 2013. NEW TIRES AND NEW CAR PURCHASED JULY 22, 2013 AND ONLY HAD 2340 MILES ON THE CAR/TIRES WHEN THE DEFECTIVE BUBBLE OCCURRED. THERE WAS NO IMPACTS OR ROAD HAZARDS TO CAUSE THE DEFECTIVE BUBBLE ON THE SIDEWALL. THE SIDEWALL BUBBLE AREA WAS MUSHY VERSUS RIGID/FIRM AS THE REST OF THE SIDEWALL. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW TIRE WHILE CONTINENTAL TIRE WOULD ASSESS THE DEFECT SIDEWALL BUBBLE. I SEARCHED THE NHTSA.GOV DATA BASE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE 39 COMPLAINTS AGAINST THE CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES FOR SIDEWALL BUBBLE DEFECTS. I CHECKED FOR ANY COMPLAINTS FOR SIDEWALL BUBBLES ON CONTINENTAL EXTREME CONTACT TIRES AND THERE ARE NONE. THUS THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT ONLY ON THE CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES. I AM HOPING CONTINENTAL WILL REPLACE THE TIRE DUE TO THIS DEFECT. ACCORDING THE NUMBER (39) OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST THE CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRE THERE IS A COMMON DEFECT THAT DOESN'T OCCUR WITH THEIR OTHER LINE OF TIRES (EXTREME CONTACT AND OTHERS CONTINENTALS) THAT I HAVE OWNED ON OTHER CARS WITH NO ISSUES. *TR
