There is an outstanding recall 24V107000. As of 9/17/2024, Hyundai does not have parts ready for the recall repair. I went to a Hyundai dealer on or about 7/31/2024 after receiving a notice from Hyundai that remedy is ready and that I should go to one of its dealers to have the repair. I was informed the parts were not available and needed to order them. No parts were provided from Hyundai for the recall.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

This has been a recurring safety issue problem! The front turn signals repeatedly have indicated on etiher side that the bulb is burned out and hence do not light up nor flash when this occurs. Some folks chalk this up to it is normal for bulbs to burn out so I have been replacing them when this happens. But, a new bulb doesnt always work! It gets to be a game of try this bulb and then that bulb and then sometimes nothing works and I plug the turn signal harness back in and maybe a few days later it starts to work so it is more than a bulb issue and a significant safety issue if folks assume that the turn signal is performing correctly and the oncoming cars dont see any sign that I'm planning on turning. I can put in a new bulb and try adjusting the bulb in its seated position and grab the wires and jiggle to see if there is a short or bad conection and nothing changes the fact that the new bulb is not working. Also the bulbs that arent working appear to be in good working order when looking at the 2 filaments

My turn signals burn bulbs burn out constantly (2x a year) and I drive approx 8k miles per year. Turn signals are a basic basic safety issue & given that if you explore the Hyundai Genesis form it is a KNOWN faulty wiring design. . It is not simply a matter of changing a bulb - it’s very difficult to get to. Hyundai knows this issue since they changed the housing design for the 2016. I believe they owe their customers a safe option.

Both the left and right turn signals have had to be replaced over 5 times EACH since I purchased the car in 2018. The first time it happened I took it to the dealer and they said the lighting harness was the problem and they replaced it at no cost since it was under warranty. Then the right one went out and again they replaced the harness free. Then the left went out again and since replaced harness was under a year old, they replaced it at no cost. That was Feb 27. 2020. Each side has gone out at least 4 times since Feb, '20. Please keep in mind I drove less than 5000 miles during 2021 due to the pandemic. Now the dealer says the entire head light assembly must be replaced to solve the problem. This is a real safety concern because other drivers need to know where I'm turning or I might get hit. Hyundai charges $1,100 to replace headlight assembly on each side-any discount given! So now I must replace the bulb about every 3-4 months on each side to feel safe driving. This a problem with their 2015 models because we have a friend who had the same problem

Head light control knob on the blinker handle. While driving, using the blinker, the headlights' turn knob is extremely sensitive. It has happened several times. Driving at night, turn on the blinker to go right, it also scrolls the headlight control and turns them off. HIGHLY dangerous in my opinion. Safety concern for myself and other drivers Mentioned this to Kingdom Kia of Rolla, MO. Service worker said she has heard of this complaint before. The light knob is very sensitive. Has not been inspected by manufacturer No warning lamps etc.

Driver side front turning signal/Daytime Running light burns out constantly. I have replaced that bulb at least 6 times since purchasing the car in 2018. Dealer confirmed it's common with my vehicle, and advised me to use OEM bulbs only as other bulbs would blow out faster. After the first bulb was replaced with a dealer OEM and that blew out within a few months, I purchased one from auto zone and it burned out within a week. Have been using OEM bulbs ever since. I have two friends with the exact same year make and model, and they have experienced the same issue. One of my friends has chosen this route, after swapping the bulb 3 times, he has refused to do it any further. The indication that the bulb has burned out is a "Hyper Flash" meaning the left side turn signals will flash more rapidly than before to indicate a bulb has burned out. Many users have switched to LED lights to assuage the issue, however this is an aftermarket solution, not one that is provided by the manufacturer.

UNKNOWN I drove it to work then it started spilling oil and wouldn't start so got it towed over to a shop and got it diagnosed and they said it was the motor and they didn't work on motors so I found a shop that did work on motors and they put a new used engine in and then the shop told me that all it needed was flashed and it will work again so I went to hyundai to get that done and they told me they couldn't get it done because of 6 codes the shop needed to get off and fixed so I waited some more for them to fix it they still didn't so I was not going to pay them anymore so here it sits in my parking lot broken down still

The Oil pressure sensor is faulty. The light comes on when it's cold temperatures outside. Upon revving the engine above 1500RPMs or so, the oil pressure sensor light goes off.

In July 2023, the driver's side passenger door stopped opening for no reason. There was no damage nor was there an accident. Upon researching this issue, I learned that this is a common problem for the 2015 Hyundai Genesis models. It is not safe to have passengers ride in the vehicle as they could not get out in the event of a flood, fire or accident. On July 20, 2023, I contacted Hyundai Motor America and was assigned Case No. 21756483. Max, National Consumer Affairs, Hyundai Motor America, (833) 462-8722 xX65522, was assigned. On August 4, 2023, Max scheduled an appointment at Roseville Hyundai for September 29, 2023. No repairs were performed nor was a clear diagnosis made as Hyundai did not if indicate it would pay for the repairs. On October 10, 2023, Rae, a service employee from the dealership, left a voicemail that due to the age of the vehicle and miles outside the warranty, Hyundai would not assume responsibility for the repair. A consumer of a vehicle has a reasonable expectation that all four car doors will open and close for many years. Due to the cost and supply issues, consumers are keeping their cars longer. We have owned many vehicles and even three Hyundai vehicles at the time of this incident, and not once did a door cease to open. I am seeking assistance from Hyundai repair this safety issue.

Driver’s side rear passenger door mechanism has failed. Door will not open when handle is pulled from the outside of the vehicle, nor when the occupant uses the interior door handle. This hinders the occupants from exiting the vehicle and is unsafe. Maintenance personnel have replicated the issue and have found no root cause.

I was attempting to open the rear door to help my child exit the car when the exterior door handle broke off in my hand leaving me unable to open the door. Luckily there was no emergency and I was able to use another door. I was told this is a common problem with these door handles and feel it could create an entrapment issue under the worst circumstances.

My 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 AWD has steering issue. The steering wheel "sticks," not returning to the center on its own when steer more than 20 degrees either to the left or right. For example, on a winding road or on a corner, I would turn or rotate the steering wheel either to the left and right, and the wheel will stay that way rather than returning to the center once the road become straight. I have to yank the wheel back to the center in order to keep the car on the road. On a highway, I have to make constant correction to keep the car center or hold the wheel firm in order to keep the wheel, therefore, the car stady and and safe. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I had an extend warranty until April 2025, and such brought the issues to 2 different dealers but they did not help. Each dealer attributes the steering issue to 2 separate problems. One dealer pointed to the rotors (which is relatively news) and the other to a suspension. I know about car. I changed the rotors myself and the suspension. A friend no is a master mechanic himsefl inspect the car for this year's annual safety inspection, and he found no issues withe neight the rotors or suspension after I made the replacments. THE STEERING ISSUE PERSISTS. If you would search the web( suchas Genesis Forum and others) other people have exactly same issues, so much so, Hyundai has issue a technical bulletin to deal with the steering issue under the question, e.g., replace entire steering column. Hyundai should replace all vehicle wiht the issue because this is clearly safety issue to me and any body who are on the road, for god forbids, I could lose control of my car and mawn them over! NHTSA has to at least lauch an investigation. The issue is not mine alone, other GENESIS G80 owners are driving unsafe car as of now! THANK YOU.

Electric Assisted Steering sporadically locking up during turns, requiring effort to unlock. Other times it will lock during hwy driving requiring significant effort to steer the vehicle. Once under 60 mph it unlocks and goes back to normal. This has been happening unexpectedly and without any warnings. Stopping and shutting down the vehicle then restarting will also reset the steering.

The steering wheel frequently locks in position during left or right turns at speeds between 30 and 70 mph. A deliberate effort is required to return the steering wheel to neutral. My Hyundai dealer shop would not diagnose the problem due to the problem being intermittent, despite the car being under the bumper to bumper warranty.

Steering wheel sticks in turns, requiring the wheel to be pulled back to center. This is most noticeable on long sweeping highway turns and adds additional effort to operating the vehicle. This is the second time I've had this problem. The first time, at approx. 30k miles, the Hyundai diagnosed and replaced the electric power steering rack, which resolved the issue. Now at 65000 miles, the same issue has returned. There are a number of other people posting on the genesis forums about this same issue.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI GENESIS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN COLD WEATHER, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONTACT STATED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.

A well known and documented case of the oil pressure sensor switch failure has occurred on my car. Hyundai has recalled the car for this problem in South Korea. My switch failed at slightly over 60,000 miles. The switch is in an inaccessible location on the engine for even a good DIY owner-mechanic, which makes it very expensive to replace. This is a very common discussion on Hyundai owner forums and elsewhere.

Engine warning light is showing up constantly, so visited Hyundai dealer, Valencia, but did not do anything. When visiting another repair shop, technician advised it is related to Stater Assembly Safety Recall. Hyundai did not do anything regarding this recall even there is probable fire explosion. It is seriousely worried about this matter. Please help this one. Thank you.

Oil pressure sensor is faulty and has gone out at ~74k miles. Looking into it, this is a known issue and has been recalled in Korea. The sensor is in the engine block and is a very costly repair. This needs to be recalled in the US!!

Recently, the contact stated that the ABS warning light remained illuminated upon starting the vehicle. The differential mounting bolt on the passenger side (the only one on that side) backed out and broke causing that side of the differential to smack the bottom of the car and then sag on the passenger side after letting off the throttle. Once it dropped it made the car come to a compete stop fast. Luckily there was no accident. This exact issue has already been fixed previously under recall, due to this the dealership nor manufacturer is wanting to fix it under the recall again. The oil pressure sensor causes the light to come on and the engine to run bad and the fix is very very pricey and i have seen MANY people online complaining about this.

Transmission at low speeds going into the 1st gear has a hard pull. Rmps jumps from 2to4 and back down until it reaches 2nd gear and it doing it again. After that it's smooth. Only way to avoid this is drive fast. Other genesis owner has the same issues. They say to change the Transmission fluid but it will eventually do it again. It makes alot of people that drive my car really scared.

The headlights intermittently turn off when driving at night. Usually it’s related to using the turn signal, but sometimes it does it completely on its own. Puts others and self at risk as driving down remote roads in the dark and lights cutting out for several seconds can be deadly. Dealer claims they cannot replicate after having the car for nearly 13 weeks total. (7 weeks first time, did not fix issue, 6 weeks second time, “couldn’t replicate”) Unknown. The dash will flash the headlight menu but no other warnings.

The turn signal lights on both the driver and passenger side frequently goes out/stops working (at least 2-3 times a year per side). This has occurred since I purchased the vehicle in 2015. I have had the lamp housing replaced following a campaign issued by the manufacturer and any other related diagnostics and bulb replacements were done under warranty by the dealership. However, the issue persists due to sockets burning out too quickly as it's recorded by the dealership. I have also contact the Hyundai corporation regarding this several times and opened complaints. Nothing has been done. I have records to show how often the turn signals have had to be replaced over the last 9 years. By now I would've expected this would be a recall (especially with other owners complaining of the same things across the Internet). This is a safety concern because not having reliable turn signals/turn signals going out too soon prevents other drivers from knowing what turn I am about to make while driving. That is a safety concern for me and others who are oncoming in my direction.

Rt Side Day Running Light. This model Hyundai Genesis uses what is suposed to be an intermittent bulb / socket for turn signaling. In this 2015 model it is so it's on ALL THE TIME as driving lamp. Bulb overheats, burns out, scorches the socket. Bulbs now last less than 5 months. Dealer replaced scorched scoket and bulb today. $169.00 Not under warranty

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis model was produced with a halogen daylight running lamp that is also the directional turn signal; because of this dual function, the directional fails. When you google this issue, there are hundreds of other owners who have either made videos or blogged about the same issue. I have spent over $1000 dollars trying to fix the issue and when it was under warrantee, the dealership must have spent three times as much without success. Drivers coming at you, have no idea that you are turning or not. Wiring harnesses have been changed, switches replaced, multiple bulbs and I have even changed out the headlight assembly. Hyundai is aware of this issue and has turned their backs on their customers

The rear passenger brake/reverse light and rear camera were sporadically working until they all stopped working completely. After some research the cause of the problem is the trunk wire harness which has failed (20-BE-007H). Unfortunately this fix isn't know to dealerships who I've had attempt to fix the problem, which leaves me without a brake light, reverse light, and reverse camera.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light, the vehicle started shaking with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated but failed to exceed 20 MPH. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and shifted into park(P). The vehicle was restarted, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where a handheld diagnostic machine retrieved DTC: P2106, P0638, and P2110. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and the foot control throttle needed to be replaced. The contact was also advised by the mechanic that there may be an electrical system issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired, but the codes were reset. The contact took the vehicle to the residence and replaced the throttle body and the foot control throttle, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,600.

I bought a 2015 Hyundai Genesis G80 and 3 weeks after I had the vehicle the car would not start I’m currently without a vehicle a possibly a job I need help with the situation I called their dealer they told me not to bring it to them because there was nothing they could do they said now I’m stuck in a bad situation I need help with this .

I was driving the car, and without warning, it just said engine overheating and shut off. If I had pulled out in front of someone, I could easily have gotten killed. There was no prior indication of anything wrong. Just riding down the road and it just shut off for no reason and would not restart. Towed it to the dealership and they told me that I need a new electronic control module and quoted a price of $4,000. That is freaking outrageous for something that should never have gone wrong in this car. I researched online and there are multiple Hyundai Genesis sedan owners have had a problem with the electronic control module going out for no reason. This is something Hyundai should be held accountable for as it is a major safety hazard. For your car to just shut off for no reason while driving it, is extremely dangerous and life-threatening.

I was checking to see if my spare tire was inflated. When I noticed it needed air, I removed the tire from my trunk and saw that it had split apart. This tire has never been used. I know this because the yellow line around the circumference is not worn neither are the little rubber spikes that stick off the tire.

THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ORIGINAL TIRES ON OUR 2015 HYUNDIA GENISIS 5.0 WITH CONTIPROCONTACT TIRES DUE TO A RECALL ON THE ORIGINAL HANKOOK TIRES IN JUNE 2016. SINCE THEN WE HAVE REPLACED , ON SIX DIFFERENT ACCATIIONS,ONE OF THE TIRES .THE FIRST TWO, ONE FRONT AND ONE REAR ,WERE BECAUSE OF BUBBLES ON THE SIDEWALL. I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS LIKE THIS BEFORE,AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 50 YEARS. The DAB module assembly (air bag system) driver's side has to be replaced due to failure. Only warning was a creaking sound from the steering column when turning. Although I have an extended warranty, never been in an accident, and the car is only 6 years old with 44,000 miles, the extended warranty for the air bags is only for 5 years. The cost to replace the DAB is over $900.00. I feel strongly that Hyundai should cover the cost.

IN 2016 I BOUGHT A 2015 HYUNDAI GENESIS WITH CONTINENTAL PRO CONTACT. THIS WAS A NEW CAR WITH 1,565 MILES ON IT. IN LESS THAN A YEAR I NOTICE THE SIDE WALL ON THE FRONT TIRE HAD A BULGE IN IT. THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE THE TIRE FOR FREE BUT OFFERED A DISCOUNT ON ANOTHER TIRE. I TOOK THE CAR IN TODAY FOR SERVICE AND THEY FOUND A BULGE IN THE SIDE WALL OF THE REAR TIRE. THE FIRST TIRE ONLY HAD 14,466 MILES I'M CURRENTLY AT 21,711 MILES. I'M GOING TO REPLACE THEM ALL BUT THINK THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED. OH AND WHEN CHECKED THE DOT # ,THREE OF THE TIRE DID NOT HAVE THE FOUR DIGIT DATE. ONLY ONE HAD THE WHOLE NUMBER AFFE WC85 2115.

While driving on the highway (70mph) the front sunroof panel unexpectedly exploded raining glass all over the driver and vehicle. Prior to the sunroof exploding there were no signs of it being compromised (dents, scratches, cracks, etc.). Very small shards of glass were impaled into the drivers head and hands. After trying to have the sunroof repaired by two separate Hyundai dealerships who were unable to perform the work, the vehicle had to be repaired by an auto body shop.

HYUNDAI IN AURORA ILLINOIS PUTS THE FLUID IN WHEN I GET AN OIL CHANGE AND I NEVER PUT FLUID IN. WHEN IT WORKS THERE APPEARS TO BE SOMETHING BESIDES PURE WATER IN THE FLUID AS I OBSERVE A 'SUDSING' EFFECT. There is a code that comes on my car, makes the engine light come on then it goes out on its own . And every year it’s back on same code. Has been happening for years . I took it to the dealership 2xs for the same reason each time they said nothing was wrong cleared the code and the engine light went out. This year being the 9th year having the vehicle the engine light kept coming back on every day after it was cleared and nothing found. So the Happy Hyundai dealership ship said leave the car overnight and see if the engine light is back on and if so he can see then what the issue is because it won’t be historical. I paid $212 for diagnostic, and then a few days he said leave overnight. He discovered that the throttle body had an issue and suggested cleaning. But the car goes in limp mode and I couldn’t accelerate but 20-25 mph. The first 20 mins of driving every day. Then it takes off. He determined that an accelerator pedal position sensor was bad. And I went years without any one diagnosing this. My car only has 34550miles approximately. And it’s almost 9 years old. 34k miles a sensor shouldn’t be bad that soon. The codes were P0651/ and P2106. And now in 2024, someone finally figured it out. But now it’s been almost 9 years and I’m paying $900 or 1k for replacement when it was clearly something wrong years ago . Undiagnosed.

I CHECKED THE ERROR AND IT READ P0880 I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER (KEYS) WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS TCM INTERNAL FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE TCM AFTER PAYING FOR THE PART AND INSTALLATION ($994.00 AND $162.00 FOR DIAGNOSIS) THE DEALER INSTALLED THE PART AND CAME BACK TO INFORM ME THAT THE ISSUE PERSISTS AFTER PART'S INSTALLATION AND THAT THEY ARE GOING TO WORK WITH THE ELECTRICITY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THEY SHALL WORK ON THE CIRCUITS BUT NOT WITH ANY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AS THIS ISSUE HAPPENED WITH REGULAR USE, I BELIEVE IT TO BE MANUFACTURING ISSUE THAT MUST BE CARRIED OUT AND FIXED BY HYUNDAI.

The brakes drag on the primarily on front passenger side and sounds like its cutting into the rotor. They've been replaced several times and after a few months the issue reappears. The issue can affect any of the of the four wheels. It's much worse during frequent braking, or 'stop and go traffic', and when it's warmer outside.

This issue has started with my car stalling out in a parking lot sitting idle. The car just turned off. I restarted the car and it turned off again. After this happened i have noticed turning my car on its slow - like the battery is dieing. I went to Hyundai to get a diagostic test and nothing came up and they could not duplicate the car turning over slowly. Since then my car is still slow to start - "sometimes" . NOW, I can go out and if I have to make several stops - it is garanteed to start slow and get stuck with the Auto Brake on - Which you can not release. I have a picture of the dashboard and a video of what happens when I drive - no RPM. This is causing me not to drive this car - I use to be a very happy Hyundai Genesis owner.

IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT MAY BE CAUSING THE MALFUNCTION, HOWEVER HAS PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORST FROM THE ONSET. I WAS ABLE TO UTILIZE THE "VALET TRUNK LOCKOUT FEATURE" FOR NOW, DEACTIVATING THE TRUNK FUNCTIONS. I'M SCHEDULED TO MEET WITH THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP FOR AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE SOON. ESC failed. I was attempting to make a left turn from a stopped position at a typical intersection. I lost control of the vehicle as it started to fishtail once I began the turn. Brakes did not respond and I ended up hitting the curb on the outer lane with both front and rear tires. Side curtain and passenger seat airbags deployed. Vehicle is now a total loss. I believe the faulty ESC poises a lot more risk that just a fire. From other reports on genesis forums by consumers like me, this problem with Hyundai's ESC seems to be a common and reoccurring problem. Recall should be updated to include that ESC may fail and makes the vehicle unsafe to drive.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE SAME FAILURE. UPON RESEARCH,THE CONTACT FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE USED SOY COATED WIRING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. The positive battery terminal has a design flaw where it will wholly lose conductivity with the battery post due to vibrations, stress and age. After numerous dealer visits where "nothing was wrong" I began to diagnose the issue myself. I tracked it down to faulty positive battery terminal, which due to the lack of manufacturer availability I had to correct myself. It seems to be such a widespread but "unknown" issue with the entire vehicle model that I made a repair guide on the subject with photos: https://genesisowners.com/genesis-forum/threads/improved-positive-battery-terminal-box.32768/#post-411757 The primary issue at stake is the sudden, unexpected loss of power steering when maneuvering at low speeds. The vehicle will lose additional safety systems when the battery power is interrupted, such as collision avoidance, parking sensors, airbags and even powertrain control in extreme cases. No manufacturer diagnostic codes will ever be set as the systems in the vehicle do not account for sudden unexpected power loss. Problem is aggravated by objects on trunk floor resting on terminal box. The secondary issue is that when a power interruption occurs while the vehicle is in operation, the vehicle will not properly shut down when the ignition is turned off. Rather than unlocking doors and assisting handicapped drivers via the easy exit seat feature, the car completely dies and does not wake back up. Vigorous door slamming or any other large impact to the body of the car will sometimes bring systems back online, by fractionally moving the positive battery terminal. If systems do not return, the driver is unable to lock the doors or open the trunk. Hyundai does not make the positive terminal a replaceable item, rather, it's only sold as a combined part with a $1400 battery cable (plus 8 hours labor). Dealers and owners alike are averse to replace this part for such a high price, when the battery terminal itself is worth less than $20.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while stopped at a stop light, the oil warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle started to sputter and then stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a defective oil pressure sensor, and the contact was informed that the oil pressure sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to a local dealer for another diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

I just purchased a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 4 door sedan 1/10/2025. Randomly lately the car does a slight jerk and the screen goes black, that happened about 5 times in just a few weeks. twice the car shutoff and back on at slow speed coming to a stop, and then entering into a parking lot. same day at 65-70 mph on the freeway it jerked hard and the engine turned off and on. Very scary and dangerous!! I did not see anything on recalls that would pertain to this happening. All recalls have been done on this car, that's what it indicated. Service guy wasn't sure. this is a random thing. I could leave my car with them but they'd have to drive it a lot for long periods before it might actually happen again.

Factory recall 24V-107: On [XXX] took car to Haselwood Hyundai of Bremerton WA. for MANF. recall Genesis Starter Solenoid water contamination. Recall was completed in 2 hours when driving home car went into emergency mode and shut down on freeway with completely dead battery. Was told by dealership they would not pay 1200 tow bill. Applied for AAA membership and was approved. Car was towed back to dealership on August 28th with approx. 100 miles driven since Aug 9th. Dealership had no idea that costs would be reimbursed by Hyundai. Had they known this the car would have been towed ASAP after breakdown. Note: This vehicle had no issues prior to this factory recall being installed. On August 29 service adviser Brandon said Alternator and battery needed replacement. This made no sense because car had no electrical problems prior to factory install. Authorized dealer to replace this equipment if necessary since I would be reimbursed. Sept 2nd Paid dealer $1,567.00 for repairs. After leaving dealer car ran for 62 miles went into emergency mode with completely dead battery. Sept 3rd car again towed into dealership. My car has run for a total of 4 hours since Aug 9th factory recall repair. I've been without transportation going on 4 weeks because of this incident. I have spent over thousands in 2024 in a small amount of time, going to multiple shops, trying to figure out issues. I have been told these models are known for having ECU and electrical issues. My car will not set off any codes. I have greatly maintained my vehicle. I have had my keys reprogrammed, 2 new batteries, 2 new alternators, all new 6 fuel injectors, new MAP sensor, all new spark plugs and plugs, had my engine and transmission inspected, and when I am in traffic WITH MY KIDS IN THE VEHICLE the immobilizer will set off and bog my car out in traffic and highways. This computer and electrical system is horrible and dangerous. The electrical is parasitic draining my alternator and battery although I have replaced twice in 2 month. No shop can figure out what is wrong with the ECU and electrical. It is draining my pockets, and putting my children and myself at saftely risk. I have done extensive research on this issue. I have seen many people, same car, same issue. Please help. My car will turn on and run fine. Put me in limp modes and even just bog out in traffic. I am very concerned.

I HAVE KISSED BUMPERS WITH ANOTHER CAR WHEN NEITHER OF US SAW THE OTHER, AND MY GENESIS FAILED TO SEE. IT'S ALLOWED ME ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS TO PULL TOO CLOSE TO OBJECTS IN FRONT. -WORSE, THERE ARE RANDOM EPISODES WHERE THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FAILS TO SEE TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF IT. NUMEROUS TIMES WE HAVE NARROWLY MISSED COLLISIONS WHEN WE HAD TO QUICKLY AND FORCEFULLY APPLY BRAKES. My car spontaneously caught fire while in a parking lot. I had left it for approximately 45 minutes. When I returned and opened the trunk, smoke began pouring out. Frightened, I called 911. The fire department came. When they opened the driver door, much more smoke poured out. My car continued to smoke I believe for a long time. I was ill for several days with headache and asthma as I am a senior and have scarred lungs. A mechanic later determined that the passenger car motor had burst into fire. He said the motor, seat, carpet and seat belt were beyond repair. No warning lights ever came on. After suggesting a buy back of the car in an earlier conversation, the manufacturer said yesterday upon viewing a photo I provided of the burned seat motor that it wasn't that bad. I refuse to keep the car or drive it because it could happen again and it reeks of fire.

Driver power seat loss of seat back recline position range. Can not adjust seatback forward enough and need to sit closer to steering wheel which is uncomfortable, not safe and too close to the gas and brake pedals. Motor assembly was replaced in 2020 and stopped working approximately year later again 11/4/21.

When driving at the speed of 20 - 25 MPH the car feels like its skipping or struggling to shifting into the next higher gear. Then all of a sudden it feels like someone rams into the back of us. Then the car will not shift into the next. I took the car into Coconut Creek Automotive LLC. The car just sat there for almost 3 months. They tell me that they could not duplicate the problem. I spoke with a service rep that told me he felt the problem. The Manager said to me that the car had to be driven and the problem displayed 5 out of 10 times. My car was there for almost 3 months and only drove 12 miles.

THIS IS AN ONGOING SAFETY ISSUE THAT I'VE TRIED TO GET THE DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS. FROM A STOP OR SLOW IDLE, THE ENGINE EXHIBITS ACCELERATION HESITATION. THIS HESITATION LASTS UP TO 2 SECONDS AND WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC HAS NEARLY RESULTED IN ACCIDENTS NUMEROUS TIMES. I BELIEVE A HYUNDAI WHISTLE-BLOWER CAME FORWARD RECENTLY TO EXPOSE THIS ONGOING ISSUE BUT HYUNDAI HAS YET TO ADDRESS IT.

Got oil changed at Genesis dealership at 79K miles. Within a day, Low Oil Pressure light began to turn on and off sporadically. Usually showing up when idling and turning off while accelerating. Took car back to dealership and they identified a faulty oil switch (which appears to require a significant amount of labor to access/replace). This has already been recalled in Korea as it has been happening to many vehicles around the 60-70K mile mark and it is a major safety issue (people driving with a faulty sensor may get complacent on urgency if the warning light). I sincerely hope Hyundai/Genesis USA issues a recall for the faulty oil pressure switch issue and this most definitely should be covered under the 100K miles Powertrain warranty.

I TOOK MY CAR TO DEALER DUE TO EXCESSIVE NOISE IN FRONT OF CAR WHEN DRIVING. I THOUGHT IT WAS A WHEEL BEARING NOISE. DEAL,ER SAYS NOISE IS DUE TO TIRE WEAR. CAR ONLY HAS 40,700 MILES AND THERE WAS A RECALL AT AROUND 12,000 MILES WHEN HYUNDAI REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH MICHELIN TIRES "DUE TO COMPLAINTS OF EXCESSIVE ROAD NOISE". MY CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED AT HYUNDAI DEALERS. I TOLD THE DEALER THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR MICHELIN TIRES TO WEAR OUT IN LESS THAN 28,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THE CAR HAS A SUSPENSION DESIGN PROBLEM. THE DEALER REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CALLED THE HYUNDAI FACTORY LINE (DEALER GAVE ME PHONE NUMBER). FACTORY REP TOLD ME I WOULD BE CONTACTED WITHIN A WEEK BY FACTORY REGIONAL MANAGER. I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. I BELIEVE THE CAR HAS A SUSPENSION GEOMETRY OR DESIGN PROBLEM IN THE FRONT END OF CAR. NO NEW CAR WITH LESS THAN 28,000 MILES SHOULD WEAR OUT A SET OF TIRES UNLESS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DESIGN OR GEOMETRY. Vehicle: 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan (3.8L) Issue Type: Exterior Lighting / Electrical System Description of the Problem: I am reporting an intermittent electrical failure affecting the rear lighting and backup safety systems on my 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The vehicle’s reverse lights, tail lights, and backup camera intermittently fail and flicker, especially when the trunk is opened or moved. This behavior has worsened over time. The failure appears to be related to wiring in the trunk area, as opening or closing the trunk causes the lights and camera to flicker or stop functioning. This issue affects multiple systems simultaneously, including: •Reverse (backup) lights •Tail lights •Backup camera License plate lighting The reverse lights and backup camera sometimes do not function at night, and the tail lights may flicker or go out. Safety Incident / Near Miss: At night, while backing up, I nearly struck a pedestrian because: •I could not clearly see behind the vehicle due to the backup camera and reverse lights not functioning, and •The pedestrian did not realize the vehicle was backing up because the reverse lights were not illuminated. No injury occurred, but this was a serious near-miss involving a pedestrian at night. Additional Information: I have since learned that Hyundai has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for 2015–2016 Genesis vehicles related to damage or failure of the trunk wiring harness, which can cause loss of rear lighting and backup camera function. My vehicle’s symptoms match the conditions described in the bulletin. This issue appears to be a design-related wiring failure caused by normal trunk operation, not misuse or modification. Current Status: The problem is ongoing and worsening. Rear lighting and backup safety systems are unreliable and fail intermittently without warning.

After Hyundai performed a recall service on my vehicle, the radiator hose burst while I was driving on the highway, causing the engine to fail completely. Smoke came from the engine compartment, and I had to pull over immediately with my family to avoid a serious accident. Before the recall, the vehicle had no issues and ran perfectly for three months after purchase. The problem occurred only a few days after the recall service, which included work on the ABS module. Hyundai refused to take responsibility, even though this failure happened right after the recall repair. The dealership and manufacturer did not inspect the vehicle properly and made their decision based only on a phone conversation. This is a severe safety concern because the engine failed suddenly on the highway. I believe this failure is directly related to the recall work performed under NHTSA Recall #21V160000, which is still listed as incomplete on NHTSA records.

The contact was informed that the rear driver's side door handle and door panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 63,500.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that the driver's side mirror failed to adjust properly to view the surroundings on the driver's side of the vehicle. The failure was causing issues and a need for chiropractic care due to the contact needing to manually turn and adjust to safely view oncoming traffic, which aggravated previous neck and back injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the mirror had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. When having the oil changed, the dealer informed the contact of 2 recalls; NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V160000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) and NHTSA Campaign Number unknown (manufacturer number 252) and Service Campaign Manufacturer Number 965 (NHTSA ID Number unknown). The fuel module, fuse assembly, and relay were replaced or repaired. The vehicle was kept for the remedies to be completed; however, approximately 2-3 weeks after the remedies were completed, the vehicle would hesitate when driving at various speeds, the engine would stall without warning, and the vehicle would fail to start on initial start-up, intermittently. The contact used engine cleaner, seafoam, and Lucas cleaner for the engine; however, the engine failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who was not able to provide a diagnosis or make contact for any updates since the vehicle's been returned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and had 2 cases of the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

The front RH and LH turn signal harness is defective. The turn signal bulbs burn out quickly even after replacing the bulb harness. When the bulbs are out you are unable to notify oncoming traffic that your vehicle is turning.I believe the dealer is aware of the issue. No inspections other than by the dealer. the vehicle does notify you the bulb is burned out by a rapid green turn signal light on the dash.

The trunk of the car stopped opening with the “open trunk button” from inside the car and also does not work with the key fob option. The trunk now needs to be opened by key from key fob everytime. Water is leaking through the trunk of the car and cause to have mold in the car. An electrical problem with the audio of the car stopped working. The radio or bluetooth no longer works due to the audio no longer working. The driver side front window does not work due to an electrical problem.

I just purchased a used 2015 Genesis 3.8 Sedan and the BSD warning system intermittently comes on after driving at highway speed for less than an hour. It is unable to be reset and requires you to turn off the vehicle for the speed and proper indicators on the dash to be functional. This is a clearly a known manufacturer defect with all the threads being posted about the problem. The dealer is unable to replicate the problem, it requires highway driving of 30 minutes to an hour and has happened with the cruise set. It is not weather related, the car is pristine and clean and does not come on or is triggered by other vehicles. Due to not being able to see your status and other information on the dash until you pull off the road to turn the vehicle off this poses a serious safety threat when traveling at highway speed and not having your instruments to detect proper system performance. It is also not always safe/reasonable and convenient to pull off and turn the car off to reset the system only to have it come back on within the hour.

I visited Mission Hills Hyundai located at 10240 Sepulveda Bl, Mission Hills CA 91345 on Jul 31, 2024 for recall after appointment. I waited 2 & half hour, and Hyundai told me the recall service completed but not done. It was perfectly lying. Hyundai explained my car's break disc has problem and cut it and then put together, but only done for resurface. They charged $824 as a labor. Please confirm them and recall service was not doing even Hyundai sent recall service letters many times. Hyundai service is not good. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The contact stated while driving 10–20 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode in the first twenty minutes of driving. The vehicle speed was reduced. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer cleared the DTC codes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving, the check engine light warning illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Happy Hyundai (9121S Cicero Ave. Oak Lawn, IL 660453), where it was diagnosed that the accelerator position sensor needed to be replaced. The throttle body needed to be cleaned and replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

On [XXX], my vehicle was not starting at all, prompting me to seek professional assistance. Subsequently, the car was towed to a nearby auto shop for a comprehensive diagnostic. The findings indicated that the starter was the root cause of the issue and required replacement. Additionally, a battery replacement was deemed necessary. Coincidentally, on the same day, a recall notice was issued regarding the starter, citing a fire risk associated with the component. In light of the recall notice, the vehicle was relocated from the auto shop to my residence. On [XXX], the car was then towed to the dealership for further investigation and confirmation of the starter diagnostic, as advised by Hyundai corporate by an agent named, Doreen. I contacted Hyundai corporate on Friday, [XXX] , seeking guidance about the starter diagnosis. Their recommendation was to have the car towed to the dealership to validate the starter issue. She stated they will be able to expedite the resolution process at a national level once the dealership confirms the diagnosis. Today, on [XXX], Capitol Hyundai in San Jose, CA, associate by the name of Ali Lee, informed me that the starter was not the culprit; rather, it was identified as a "faulty" new battery installed six months ago. This revelation is disconcerting, especially considering that the car, parked for six days, should not have been able to start if the issue was solely related to the battery, as confirmed by the dealership. This report aims to document the sequence of events for future reference and to address potential safety concerns associated with the recalled starter, which poses a fire risk. Moreover, I would like to bring to your attention some pre-existing issues that might be connected to the recall, including light flickering while driving, headlights turning completely off automatically at night on the freeway & challenges w the car windows when using the designated buttons. The oil low-pressure warning light is frequently on while the engine is operating from idle to approximately 2,000 rpm. Engine operation is normal, including high performance. Complaints of this condition abound on Genesis Forums. Beside the lack of a true low oil pressure warning that may result in severe engine damage, a safety issue is present if that damage occurs on roadways with no way to escape traffic flow.

Brought my Hyundai to Red McCombs Superior Hyundai to 9am appt on Friday, July 28th to have my drivers side seatbelts untangled which I thought was a safety issue. They refused to even get the vehicle into the shop for they were “too busy”. I surmise it wasn’t worth their time to remedy…too many overpriced oil changes to perform. Ridiculous and service is severely lacking at Red McCombs Hyundai.

Driving and car just quit. Clock turned, wipers went crazy, and then smoke came up the front windshield from the engine. I bailed and left it in the road. Awful and dangerous situation. Dealership wasn’t excepting Genesis anymore. Towed to a dealership 50 min away. Told the engine failed.

I took my car to South Shore Hyundai sometime in May 2023 to find it has internal transmission failure at 107,500 miles and a new transmission would cost $6,200 and change. This transmission issue has been gradually getting worse since around 87,000 miles when I did a computer reset to attempt to resolve it. The issue didn’t show up on a computer and it wasn’t an everyday issue at 87K but now it’s an everyday issue and concern while driving. I also believe I had the transmission examined at around 97K by allowing Advantage Hyundai Service in Hicksville NY to test drive the car for over a day and they found nothing. I was hoping to fix the transmission under the 100K mile powertrain warranty promised to me by my salesman but not executed on paper as I was an inexperienced buyer and was taken advantage of. About 1 year after I bought the car the drivers heated seat stopped working and would cost me about $2,500 to fix which I never paid for. Absolutely loved the car but it costed me so much in repairs over the years and the transmission failure has me so upset. I wish I could get it replaced as I still owe $ and can not afford a new car not even an old car for $5000 yet.

There are multiple problem points with this vehicle that become apparent far earlier than they should including but not limited to 1: Starter Motor complete failure at 70k miles (affects every single 3.8 2015-2017 genesis sedan) 2: Sunroof front panel seal degradation 3: Shuddering driveshaft early into new ownership (also afflicts most of these vehicles) 4: BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER SUDDEN COMPLETE FAILURE 5: Oil Pressure sensor improper calibration All of these issues have been checked by multiple service centers at Hyundai/Genesis dealers, all of them confirming reluctantly that these issues affect all genesis models similar to mine. The braking issue is the worst, happens suddenly and at a random point in time, and costs thousands to fix. The starter motor failure is very common, and every dealer kept forcing me to replace meaningless parts until the car would no longer start and then they admitted it needed a new starter. The front panel between the sunroof and the windshield has rapidly degrading rubber seals, which will loudly shake and move around while driving. The driveshaft will shudder when the vehicle is cold and it’s sub 80° outside, even if the engine has warmed to operating temp. The oil pressure sensor rapidly breaks just months after the car is brand new, with it on average reading a much lower oil pressure than is actually being applied. All of these issues have been replicated, and only the faulty oil pressure sensor had a warning light, no light for the faulty brakes, starter, or driveshaft issues. The more I research into genesis, the more I realize that these issues happen just a couple thousand miles after new, and affect every single genesis model similar to mine.

The left rear passenger door does not open from inside or outside. I have looked online and see that this or similar problems affect many Genesis sedans as well as other Hyundai vehicles. We needed to seat two young children in the back seat and realized how dangerous it is if something happens and the car door can't be opened from inside or outside. How would rescue teams extract the passenger? How could the passenger extract him/herself? Many people reported paying a lot of money to the dealership to repair this problem. I believe this is a safety hazard that the company should be responsible for. This problem began recently, with no warning. The key fob does not open the door either.

The fuel door will not open, even with the emergency latch located within the trunk. A cursory search of reddit and other forums has revealed the problem to be widespread among other Hyundai owners, with no solutions offered by Hyundai or Genesis. The safety issue is obvious in that drivers will be stranded in unexpected places.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving 60 MPH there was an obstruction of a diesel tire on the road, which was unavoidable. As a result, the driver drove over it which caused the rack and pinion to fracture. The contact stated that the crash warning message displayed. The contact merged to the shoulder of the road and discovered the module 4 ABS system, interface to the power steering, and the dust front cover of the vehicle fractured due to the object on the roadway. The contact experienced a minor injury, but medical attention was not required. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs line and rack and pinion needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact informed the dealer that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V160000 Components SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. The VIN was included however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,130.

These warning lights light up at the same time or in succession and include: check bid system, tire pressure, check engine light, skid control, check bsd system, and others. In addition, brakes become sticky and steering is affected. Worse yet, car slows down on its own as it engages crash avoidance system.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while the headlights were on the auto setting, the headlights occasionally flickered on and off independently. The contact also stated that the air bag warning light also inadvertently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and was diagnosed with the wiring harness needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that an engineer would be sent out to inspect the vehicle. The engineer was not heard from and the vehicle was not inspected. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

WHEN DRIVING DURING HEAVY RAIN ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE CAR BEGINS TO FISHTAIL OUT OF CONTROL. IT FORCES THE DRIVER TO DROP THEIR EXPRESSWAY SPEED TO ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR. ALL THE OTHER TRAFFIC CONTINUES TO PASS BY SAFELY AT SPEEDS OF 60 TO 65 OR MORE. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN IT BEGAN, I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY A SEMI WHEN I WAS FORCE TO DRIVE SLOWLY IN THE RIGHT LANE AT ONLY 40 TO 45 IN A 70 MPH ZONE. IF I DARED TO EVEN TRY TO GO ANY FASTER THE CAR WOULD BEGIN FISHTAILING. NONE OF THE OTHER TRAFFIC HAD ANY ISSUE GOING FASTER, AND I NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS IN THE 2013 GENESIS I HAD PREVIOUSLY. DEALER REPLACED THE TCM BUT THAT COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. AND THEY JUST RELEASED THE CAR AS IS. AFTER A SHORT WHILE MY CAR HAD BECOME UNABLE TO REVERSE, AND WHEN SET THE GEAR TO REVERSE, MY CAR MOVES FORWARD TO MAKE A VERY LIFE THREATENING. THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY ABOUT 60 MPH. IT WAS A VERY LOUD NOISE AND LUCKILY NO CARS WERE AROUND. I DROVE SLOWLY TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER WHERE I LEASED THE CAR. EVEN THOUGH THIS GENESIS UNDER FULL WARRANTY, DEALER (HYUNDAI MOTORS) REFUSED TO COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI GENESIS COUPE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V722000 (AIR BAGS). WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR BLINKED. ADDITIONALLY, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM SCREEN WAS DARK. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (PALM SPRINGS HYUNDAI, 3919 E PALM CANYON DR, PALM SPRINGS, CA) AND WAS ADVISED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,795.

ON JUNE 2, 2017, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING STALL AT A MINIMUM SPEED OF 5-8 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE REVVED UP, INSTRUMENT PANEL FLASHED AND RADIO CHANGED STATIONS. WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE THE CAR, THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE AND I SUBSEQUENTLY HIT A WALL. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WHEN THE EALER CAME TO GET THE CAR, THE INDIVIDUAL PICKING UP THE CAR INDICATED SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BREAKING MECHANISM. HOWEVER, THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER SAYS NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT WON'T PROVIDE THE DETAILS OF THE REPORT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI GENESIS. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS TO SHUT OFF AS WELL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON ANOTHER OCCASION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS WERE REPLACED IN 2015. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MITSUBISHI POTAMKIN OF MANHATTAN, NEW YORK WHERE THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED; THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAG, BUT NOT THE HEADLIGHTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,717.

THE VEHICLE BRIEFLY SHUT DOWN ON ITS OWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE IN MOTION AT RATE OF 25MPH AT NIGHTTIME, THE VEHICLE TURNED BACK ON A SECOND LATER AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAUSE OF THE SHUT DOWN IS UNKNOWN AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT HAD I NOT BEEN ON AN EMPTY ROAD. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF, I HAD NO CONTROL OVER POWER STEERING OR ACCELERATING, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BECAME UNRESPONSIVE WITH THE BOTH THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS OFF.

A/C, HEATER VENTS LOCATED ON THE BOTTOM (FOOT) FOR DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER ARE ALWAYS STAY OPEN IRREGARDLESS WHAT YOU SELECT. DEALER LOOKED TWICE, NO HELP. SAID THAT'S HOW ALL THE CARS ARE. I HAVE MYSELF CHECKED THE BRAND NEW 2017 GENESIS PARKER ON THE LOT AND IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. YOUR FEET WILL FREEZE AND THERE IS NO WAY TO BLOCK OR CLOSE THE BOTTOM VENTS. ALSO, THE HAPTIC STEERING WHEEL WARNING CAME ON AT AROUND 5K MILES, DEALER LOOKED AT IT ORDER SOME PARTS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR ETC.

AFTER TIRE RECALL AND COMPUTER UPDATE WE FIRST NOTICED A VIBRATION OR SHUDDER FOR THE FIRST FEW MILES. DEALER EVENTUALLY CHANGED 23 SEPARATE TIRES AND PROBLEM PERSISTS. M. STAHL OF HYUNDAI STATES THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF LOW PROFILE TIRES. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS BEGAN SHOWING UP ON A ROTATING BASIS. INCLUDING, PARK ASSIST NOT WORKING REGULARLY. VENTILATION CHANGING ON ITS OWN. BLIND SPOT INDICATORS NOT WORKING. REAR WINDOWS NOT WORKING. HEATED SEATS NOT HEATING. DASH DISPLAY CHANGES ON IT'S OWN. FOLDING MIRRORS NOT FOLDING AS THEY SHOULD. CAR WENT DEAD ONCE. ZERO ACCELERATION TWICE WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. SMART TRUNK NOT FUNCTIONING. VENTS BLOWING ICE COLD AIR WITHOUT AC BEING ON. MOST OF THESE HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED OR VIDEOD. DEALER EMPLOYEES HAVE ALSO WITNESSED MOST OF THESE. OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS FROM STATIONARY, BACK ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. I HAVE ALL REPAIR ORDERS DOCUMENTING OVER 60 DAYS OF LOSS OF USE WHILE CAR WAS AT THE DEALER.

THE CAR ENGINE WILL SPONTANEOUSLY STOP WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS CAUSES ME TO LOSE ALL POWER STEERING, BRAKES STABILITY CONTROL ETC. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREET WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THE CAR WAS MOVING FORWARD IN A RELATIVELY STRAIGHT LINE. IT HAS BEEN "FIXED" BUT NOT FIXED. IT IS AT THE DEALER FOR THE 2ND "FIX". I OWNED THE CAR FOR 9 MONTHS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM IN THE RAIN. MY GENESIS WAS INVOLVED IN A TIRE RECALL (CAMPAIGN 218). A COUPLE DAYS LATER, AS SOON AS I GOT THE CAR ON THE FREEWAY TO GO OUT OF TOWN ON A BUSINESS TRIP, MY CAR STARTED SHAKING SEVERELY. I CALLED BLUE LINK (HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE) AND THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO PATTERSON HYUNDAI AT MY DESTINATION. I DRIVE TO WICHITA FALLS AS SLOWLY AND SAFEL AS I CAN AND I TOOK THE CAR IN TODAY BUT THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT. THEY SAID BECAUSE ITS RELATED TO THE RECALL THEY CANNOT FIX IT. I HAVE TO WAIT MINIMUM 3-5 DAYS FOR THEM TO ESCALATE IT TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL AND I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR. I HAVE TO BE DRIVING HOME ON SUNDAY (2 DAYS FROM NOW). I TALKED TO CURTIS (FLOOR LEADER FOR GENESIS TEAM) AND SAID "I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR FOR 3-5 DAYS?" AND HE SAID "YES." AND I ASKED IF I COULD GET A RENTAL THEN AND HE SAID THEY WON'T GIVE ME A RENTAL. THIS IS AT BEST UNETHICAL. I HAVE TO BE HOME BY MONDAY, SO THEY ARE FORCING ME TO DRIVE A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE CAR HOME 3.5 HOURS BECAUSE THEY WON'T CORRECT A PROBLEM WITH THEIR WARRANTY WORK.

THE CAR IS NEW, APPROX. 985 MILES AND THE TIRES HAD BEEN REPLACED THAT MORNING WITH MICHELINS UNDER A TIRE EXCHANGE PROGRAM. THERE IS NO EXTERNAL BODY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THE REAR AXLE APPEARS TO BE BENT. WHY WOULD AIR BAGS DEPLOY BY BUMPING A CURB AT LOW SPEED?

SIMPLY PUT, MY HYUNDAI GENESIS IS EXTREMELY SUSCEPTIBLE TO TOTAL AND SUDDEN TIRE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS AND HAVE HAD 6 TIRES BLOWOUT, EVEN WITHOUT HITTING ANY POTHOLES. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I HAD A TIRE SIDE WALL BLOWOUT AS I LEFT MY DRIVEWAY ,DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED. I HAD IT CHANGED THE NEXT MORNING AND WITHIN HOURS, ANOTHER TIRE BLEW WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 60 MILE PER HOUR ON THE NJ GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, WITHOUT HITTING ANY ROAD IMPERFECTIONS OR POTHOLES AT ALL. IT SEEMS THAT THE LOW PROFILE TIRES ARE SIMPLY NOT UP TO SIMPLE , NORMAL DAY TO DAY DRIVING. I AM AWARE THAT MANY OTHER GENESIS AND EQUUS OWNERS HAVE SUFFERED THE SAME, MANY TIMES OVER, YET HYUNDAI REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM,BLAMING THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS, EVEN THOUGH THIS HAPPENED TO ME WITH 3 DIFFERENT BRANDS AND EVEN TO TIRES DESIGNED TO RUN FLAT! I DON'T NEED TO ELABORATE ON THE HAZARD CREATED BY TIERS THAT BLOW OUT ALL THE TIME ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON CONGESTED ROADWAYS. I WAS LUCKY THAT I MANAGED TO AVOID GETTING HIT ON THE LAST INCIDENT BY THE HUNDRED OF CARS PASSING BY AT OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
