Car consuming EXCESSIVE Oil. Oil changes went from lasting 6-7k miles, to less than 4k miles, to less than 2k miles within a year. Checked for leaks, nothing found. Here is the breakdown, I added more oil when the oil lights would flash on. : 12/06/24 FULL OIL CHANGE Mileage: 80,735 6/11/25 FULL OIL CHANGE 86,164 miles 10/6/25 1 qt  89,000 miles 10/10/25 FULL OIL CHANGE 90,121 miles 1 qt 11/30/25 91,550 miles 1 qt 12/11/25  92,700 miles Hyundai is AWARE that this is an ongoing issue - they should legally be required to fix this whether a car has a warranty or not. Bad for the engine and engine replacements aren't cheap

My car is blowing a large amount of white smoke due to the head gasket being cracked, I was quoted 2 grand to fix it. The car is not old enough to need a new head gasket, this is completely due to how the car manufactured and I have seen many other reports of this, there should be a recall and this should be fixed free of charge.

While driving my 2017 Hyundai Sonata, the engine suddenly began making a loud knocking noise and the vehicle entered "limp mode" The check engine light was blinking, I took the car to a very close autozone and the check engine light came on with code P1326 (pricture upload files), which is directly related to the known KSDS connecting rod bearing defect. This issue is part of Hyundai’s safety recalls and engine warranty extensions. After that, I called Hyundai directly (reference number for that call #XXX). A kind young woman informed me that my car had been through "Service Campaign 953" and successfully completed a "Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) Software Update." Thanks to this, she explained that my car is under the "Hyundai TXXI warranty" and that, given the noise I was hearing along with the "P1326" code, it was very likely that my car qualified for a free engine replacement. She then scheduled an appointment for me at the nearest Hyundai dealership for the following morning. After more than two weeks of inspection, the dealer confirmed that the engine has internal damage and needs a complete replacement due to rod bearing failure. This is the exact defect addressed in Hyundai’s safety campaigns. However, Hyundai Corporate is refusing to cover the engine replacement because the vehicle exceeded its mileage limit, even though the engine failure is clearly caused by the known safety-related defect. The dealer acknowledged the problem and documented everything, but Hyundai is denying proper safety recall-related coverage. This puts my safety and the safety of others at risk, the vehicle is currently disabled and undrivable at the dealership due to the defect. Hyundai is only offering a buyback or a small cash settlement instead of performing the necessary safety repair. I am filing this complaint for many reasons but mainly because the refusal to replace the defective engine, despite the recall-related code P1326 and confirmed bearing failure. I am filing a complaint regarding Hyundai Motor America’s handling of my engine-related safety issue, buyback process, and rental reimbursement. My vehicle was towed to Elder Hyundai for a suspected engine failure. Elder Hyundai informed me that my car was covered under an engine recall campaign and that they would submit a request for free repair. Shortly afterward, Hyundai Motor America notified me that they would not perform the repair and that I was being forced into the buyback process under a Settlement Agreement Release (SAR). Elder Hyundai refused to provide me a loaner vehicle because I was not proceeding with repairs, despite the issue being part of an engine recall. They also refused to give me the repair order report for my records and refused to let me retrieve my personal items from my vehicle unless I paid a diagnostic fee. Hyundai Motor America told me I was covered under them for this fee, yet Elder Hyundai still refused. Regarding transportation, I was initially told Hyundai does not reimburse Turo rentals due to concerns about “fake receipts.” Because of my budget and age, Turo was the only rental option I could afford. After escalating, a supervisor approved reimbursement for my Turo rentals, but as of today I have not received any reimbursement. I am a school teacher with a two-hour commute each day and I have [XXX] twin toddlers. I had to use rent and bill money to pay for the rentals based on assurances that reimbursement would be processed within a week. I submitted all receipts, but my new case manager claims he has no record of them, further delaying reimbursement. I completed and returned all SAR buyback documents on November 15th, yet I have received no update on payment or processing. This entire ordeal has put me at financial risk, including potential job loss and housing instability. Hyundai’s delays and mishandling of this safety-related case have severely impacted my livelihood. While driving my vehicle I have lost power steering twice completely. The first time I was in a five-story parking garage turning into a parking space, when power steering went out. The second time I was pulling into my driveway and the power steering went completely out. At other times my car would pull to the right just a little at one point or maybe even harder at other points. I never know when I'm going to have a problem sometimes I don't have a problem, car drives normal this problem has existed for the last 3 weeks. Like power steering sometimes is harder to turn to the left around a curve are a corner. When the steering goes out warning lights do come on one like a hazard sign one like engine light and others. I take really good care of my car my personal mechanic has called Hyundai so he could get information on how to fix my vehicle they have informed him that I have to bring it into them and would not tell my mechanic what the problem was. I would say the problem exists 20% of the time 80% of the time the card drives great no problems but while driving these things change.

- I was reversing from a car space, and do a K-turn, the steering wheel locked when moving forward. When the steering wheel locked, the red steering wheel light on the dashboard is on. I have to turn off the engine to reset the power steering. It's available for inspection upon request. - I cannot move the car in the parking lot. The other drivers in the lot do not know what happened. - I don't know exact step to reproduce the problem. - The 2015 Sonata may have a faulty EPS (Electronic Power Steering) motor, or a failed torque sensor. It would be helpful for Hyundai to confirm the 2017 Sonata model does not have these issues/recalls.

When turning the steering wheel to the left, the steering wheel jerks and pulls to the left, gets stuck some and the jerk back into place when coming out a left turn or curve to balance steering wheel position. Searched for recall and took to Hyundai but they could not find anything. They say maybe purchase tires, rotate your tires and/or wheel alignment. I have done it all. They said they heard others say that but don't see a recall or know what would cause it. Went on Reddit, and others are having the same problem. Therefore, there is a problem this jerking issue. Experienced total loss of power steering when entering a parking lot. Was extremely hard to turn wheel to get into a parking spot. Red steering wheel icon with exclamation point was flashing on the dash. Shut off car, turned back on, and the light went off. Still had car towed, owner’s manual states to have it inspected by the manufacturer, don’t drive. Of course, Walser Hyundai Service Center in Coon Rapids could not duplicate the issue - so nothing was done. A C1102 code was detected meaning low voltage, however, when checking the battery and alternator, both tested good. Was told that there are 4 different parts to the steering, each one being very expensive to repair. Also, my display has been going out intermittently for the last year. Possible voltage too? My display did NOT go out when the power steering went out. ??? Computer Issue Maybe ??? Car already has 3 Extended Coverage issues - Power Steering, Fuel Filter Assembly, and Engine Failure, not to forget the excessive oil consumption problem (1-2 quarts per week). No recalls, just wait to see if it happens to you. Some of these issue are extremely dangerous, there should be recalls!!! They need to be fixed. I am now fearful to drive this car, it’s either going to kill me or someone else, especially if I lose the power steering at high speeds. Lost complete faith in Hyundai as a vehicle manufacturer, they do not stand behind their product.

The contact is a death investigator calling on behalf of the owner of a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while he was driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle failed to yield causing the front of the vehicle to crash into the front end of another vehicle. The events leading to the crash were unknown. The air bags were deployed. The owner of the 2017 Hyundai Senata was pronounced deceased at the scene; the cause was presumed to have been caused by the wheel hub dislodging. The death investigator arrived at the scene and discovered the wheel hub in the back of the neck of the driver possibly leading to the fatality. The other vehicle involved in the crash was able to drive off the scene. No further information was available on the other vehicle in the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My car was recalled because of the paint chipping. I had it fixed however it is still chipping in more spots. I'd like it fixed considering I have paid over $27,000 and still owe $12,000 more. It would be nice to still have a decent car after I finally pay it off. I'd appreciate the help.

The car's paint is peeling all over. The roof was repainted in 2018, the hood and side door in 2024 and now the the roof supports on each side and trunk are peeling . While driving a big piece of white paint flew to my windshield blocking the driver's view. It stuck under the wipers when used to remove it. Hyundai is aware and has recalled the paint but delays fix and then fixes in tiny areas so that you have to continue coming back for repainting. Now they do not want to pay for repairs stating the recall expired. It expired because of their delay and not painting the entire car. Hyundai should paint the entire car when there is a paint defect.

I was headed to pick up the kids to take them to practice, but when they went to open the trunk to put their sports gear in it, it was "stuck". It had worked the previous night so I was very confused. After several tries, we finally got it to open and shut. We then went to the park to kill time and I went to open the trunk again, it wouldn't open. We tried everything, and after 30 minutes, it decided to open. However, it then would not shut. We couldn't leave the park with it open so had to have help come and strap it closed. The kids missed their practices and I was alone in a parking lot with two kids until help could arrive.

I am reporting a serious safety defect involving a vehicle purchased from [XXX] on [XXX]. The vehicle was later involved in a collision that resulted in a total loss. According to the police report, I was not at fault. During this crash, none of the airbags deployed, which indicates a possible defect or prior undisclosed issue with the airbag system. The vehicle was sold with a warranty and was represented as safe and road-ready. The dealership also provided and managed the full-coverage insurance policy. However, the total-loss claim has been delayed and obstructed, and the dealership has not taken responsibility for ensuring the vehicle’s safety or functionality. There is significant concern regarding the condition of the vehicle prior to sale. Records show that Byrider cleared the vehicle’s computer on July 16, 2025, less than a month before purchase. This may have erased important diagnostic information, including any prior airbag-system faults. Clearing the computer in this manner raises questions about whether a known issue was hidden or whether mandatory diagnostic data was removed before the sale. At the time of purchase, I signed an airbag disclosure form in which Byrider stated: •They had “no knowledge of any reason why the airbag system would not operate properly,” and •They “cannot guarantee that the airbag system will deploy in the event of an accident.” Despite this disclosure, the fact that the airbags did not deploy in a crash severe enough to total the vehicle suggests a significant safety defect, potential misrepresentation, or a failure to comply with federal safety requirements. Airbag non-deployment in a total-loss collision indicates a system failure that poses a serious risk to consumers. The airbag light has been on for years. Also, the controllers on the steering wheel stopped working, first left side, 6 months later followed by right side. I’ve been told it’s due to a faulty ring inside or under the steering wheel. Worried to drive with faulty airbag.

A light on the dash went on and we were told it was the airbag clock spring steering column. At cost of over $900 we had to have it repaired. There were previous recalls on the Hyundai sonatas for this part and I think it should be covered. The car has only 60,000 miles on it

I have owned this car since 11/2018. I have NEVER replaced as many headlight bulbs in my life as I have for this vehicle. Mostly the low beam. Almost every three months. I'm looking to replace the wiring soon hoping to remedy this issue. Ridiculous.

The headlights and brake lights are constantly blowing and not working. Just recently my light bulbs were switch in august and the driver side will only work with the high beams on and my car is available upon request for inspection… I’m unable to see if i don’t have on the high beams and I’m pretty sure it’s blinding the other drivers. It haven’t been to the dealer since they were able to repair the brake light defects and there were no warning signs prior to the issue.

My engine seized up after burning every drop of oil dry. My last oil replacement was 5,200 miles prior, and Hyundais recommended mileage before replacement is 7,500 miles. I never got a single oil annunciator light.

Driving this passed saturday and my car was jumping when i would slow it down to decrease my speed. Once my car got to 5mph it’ll jump forward then it would stop. When i went to accelerate it would pick up no speed until 40mph then the engine light came on. I went to get a diagnostic from autozone and it was my power train system having an issue. I have no clue what that was. Went to make an appointment for hyundai NO appointments for a month! What happens if the car shuts down on me? or doesn’t brake when i press on it?

at 75000 miles car started to be out of oil 2000 miles after the oil change. At 83000 miles motor went. Check engine lite went on and day later started blinking and car died on the highway. Just went dead. Mechanic tells me motor is shot please help

AFTER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACE IN DECEMBER 2020, NOTICED STARTING IN JAN 2021, THAT VEHICLE DID NOT STAY IN PARK AND ROLLED BACK UP TO 5 FEET FROM WHERE PARKED. PICTURES FROM PARKING LOT, 3/6/2021 ROLLED BACK 5 FEET FROM WHERE IT PARKED. MILEAGE ON 3/6/21 WAS 96858. ON 4/15/21 WE HAVE VIDEO WITH THE NOISE THAT IT IS MAKING WHEN IN PARK AND ROLLS BACK (UNABLE TO ATTACH HERE). MILEAGE ON 4/15/2021 WAS 97881. CAR WAS PARKED IN A HANDICAP SPOT AT A RESTAURANT. THE AMOUNT OF ROLLBACK COULD CAUSE SOMEONE WALKING BEHIND THE VEHICLE TO BE CRUSHED OR KILLED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, NOT ONLY ON AN INCLINE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE; THERFORE, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE.

The engine in my 2017 Hyundai Sonata has been burning excessive amounts of engine oil over an extended period. The issue started approximately 10,000 miles ago but has worsened recently, requiring frequent oil top-offs between regular oil changes. The oil consumption is abnormal and not consistent with normal wear. This excessive oil burning poses a potential safety risk, including possible engine failure, stalling, or fire hazard due to low oil levels if not monitored carefully. The vehicle has not yet experienced a complete failure but the risk concerns me. The problem has been observed consistently during normal driving conditions. I have not yet had an official inspection or oil consumption test performed by a dealer, but I intend to request one. There have been no warning lights related to the oil burning issue, but the oil level drops rapidly and noticeably.

The car is burning through oil at an excecated rate. This is a well-known issue with this make and model. The dealer said they fixed the problem, and they did not. This engine needs to be replaced. It was inspected by a mechanic not affiliated with Hyundai. Hyundai has refused to replace the engine. This should be covered by the 15 year/ 150,00 engine warranty. This engine could seize up at any time. It is a hazard to be driving. The driver is an 80-year woman. She needs help.

I was driving the vehicle and it of no where the hybrid warming triangle comes up and I had to pull over. The car went in creep mode and then rpm and sped was capped.

Engine oil light or any warning lights and symbols never came on after Engine had burned out all the oil. Had oil changed and new oil filter installed and in less then a week it burned out 3 quarts, again with no low oil warning at all. Motor stalled at intersection and had to cool down, oil was again added and lower Engine knocking was present. Meanwhile had a mechanic inspect it and diagnostic done and lower bearings are knocking. Vehicle has had this issue for over 4 years and never mentioned to us until now after 100,000 miles. 2019 is when this oil burning issue began. Hyundai dealer serviced this several times and never mentioned the reason for the knocking other then it was low on oil. After breaking down in a busy intersection had to be pushed off road and waited for Engine to cool down to add oil and knocking continued.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic twice, and the contact was informed that the oil pressure sensor was leaking at the connector, and the oil pressure sender or the switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer after being driven for 1,000 miles, and the oil usage was documented. The contact stated that in 7 days, the engine had consumed one quart of engine oil in 167 miles driven. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where a combustion cleaning was performed; however, 4,000 miles later, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,379.

The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced and the repair would be out-of-pocket. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

driving on the side of the interstate, the hybrid battery indicator continuously dipped low. Minutes after continuing driving on the interstate around 50 to 60 mph, every light on the dash came on the vehicle stopped accelerating, and the warning light check HEV system shut engine off started flashing. The vehicle would no longer start again after this. the dealership said that the fuse was being oversupplied, which is what caused the system to fail. This exact situation is listed in a recall for 2013 to 2015 Hyundai Sonata hybrids. After reading the recall notice., my vehicle had this failure due to the exact reasons listed in the recall notice. due to the damage that was caused by this fuse that could not hold enough electricity my wiring harness also has to be replaced. This could be a three to $4000 out-of-pocket expense for me that should be covered under this recall, due to its exact nature of similarities. please assist me. I do not have the complete invoice due to the fact that the dealership is withholding that information until the repair is complete However, hyundai motor is also aware of this issue, and I am filing this complaint for this investigation to be moved with urgency

Driving the car on the freeway, the battery light came on, and after that few other warning lights came on and I pulled over by then the car stopped and didn't turn on. It was scary since I was on the freeway. No other warning prior to that and the car was very well maintained even during the last recommended service everything was checked and no recommendation was made regarding the alternator. It was the alternator that caused the problem according to the dealer diagnosis.

I OWN A 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA AND THIS WEEK THE TRUNK RELEASE WOULD NOT OPERATE. IN CHECKING THE RELEASE MECHANISM I DISCOVERED A PLASTIC PART IN THE TRUNK RELEASE MECHANISM HAD BROKEN. THE REASON FOR THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT BROKEN PART DOES NOT ALLOW THE TRUNK TO OPEN MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE OF THE TRUNK. IF A CHILD OF ADULT PERSON WAS ACCIDENTALLY OR PURPOSELY PUT IN THE TRUNK THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ESCAPE. ATTACHED ARE A COUPLE PHOTOS SHOWING THE TRUNK RELEASE MECHANISM WITH THE YELLOW MANUAL SAFETY RELEASE AND A PHOTO SHOWING THE BROKEN PLASTIC PART. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE FORCE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED BY TEH MANUFACTURER.

My 2017 Hyundai Sonata Limited check engine light came on at approximately 103,000 miles of use. This happened last week. The code it was pointing to was a faulty Fuel Pressure Sensor. Could also be combined with faulty fuel pump, but the primary code indicates the sensor. I will be taking it in to the Hyundai dealership shortly. The main reason I’m reporting this is because of my previous experience owning a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe that had to have the engine replaced three times all under warranty. There ended up being a class action lawsuit because of several owners experiencing the same proglem. While this may not be the same case, I am Leary of engine problems like this. I take very good care of my cars with regular maintenance, so I’m reporting this just in case others are experiencing the same problem.

I was driving down the freeway when my engine made a loud knocking noise, the noise got worse as the RPMs increased. The check engine light began to flash and I lost power, the vehicle will not exceed 60mph and vibrates when moving down the road. I believe this issue is widely know about and should be addressed and forced into a recall. I have maintained the vehicle and should not be responsible for a manufacturing error.

During travel on highway (~60 MPH), the vehicle suddenly lost power and the engine stopped functioning properly. The effect of the problem was that the vehicle began to 'buck' - as if the engine was having significant trouble running continuously. The engine light then illuminated solidly (not blinking). The vehicle slowed from lack of power and I was forced to move to the right lane/break-down lane through high speed highway traffic (NJ). I was able to travel /limp a few miles slowly to the next exit and get off the highway to a gas station. The engine ceased operation upon arrival to the gas station. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic who diagnosed the issue as engine failure. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership for diagnosis by the manufacturer (Denville, NJ). The diagnosis was 'engine failure'. No conditions existed prior to this event. In the recent past, the spark plugs and ignition coils were replaced. The vehicle had ~140,000 miles but it was used every day and was maintained very well during its life. I am the original owner. No insurance claim has been filed.

I'm reporting the growing concern of my engine having rod knock or seizing . It has been burning excessive oil since I bought it at 80k miles. I have reached out to hyundai and they have denied me any help as the vehicle is past their 10y/100k mile warranty. Although my vehicle has extended warranty up to 150k miles for engine seize or rod bearing failure through them. There's no warning lamp but the piston slap noise is getting louder, I'm scared this problem might leave my family and I stranded in the middle of the night. Also scared that it can catch on fire due to almost running with no oil. I have to do my oil change every 1200 miles, instead of 3000. corporate hyundai has denied any type of assistance, I went to a dealer to get it checked out and they insist without proof of oil changes there's nothing they can do, i do them myself on all my cars and I'm VERY on top of my maintenance. I have scheduled an appointment 02/07/2024 to try and diagnose the growing issues with the engine itself.

I can’t drive my car on the highway cause then it will shut off and say HEV system error and I have to shut my car off turn it back on then erase the code with my diagnostic tool. My oil light keeps popping up and whenever I slightly press on the gas pedal or go up a steep hill, it starts to rattle, been noticing my oil burns out fast and I have to replace it when it gets low.

The makes a weird shutter noise when accelerating and won't crank over 60. Loses power when turning or when going uphill. Sometimes has problem starting. Enging light came on twice blinking, once I changed the battery it went off and was working fine. Now it's back on again after a few weeks. Plus my oil tank still comes on and I've just received and oil change. I just bought the car in August of this year, dealership sold to me with a faulty battery.

The vehicle itself shakes when accelerating and will start to fail once 60mph is hit. It will also cut out when left turns are made...I have met 4 people with the exact same issues who received recalls but I am not sure why my car is not included. I was almost rear ended on the highway by a semi with my pregnant wife and 4 year old son in the car because of the engine failure.

HEV lights came on stalled car and stated to turn engine off, barely made to a parking lot. Car was towed, in shop Dec 29, 2022 to Jan 10, 2023. knock sensor replaced, rusty spark plugs slots cleaned out, no communication with power train, case #20817405 June 16, case# 21597503 part A: Hev lights again chugging and stalling. Car towed in shop 22 days, returned 7-5-22.actuator 2nd time failure, knock sensor issue, clogged, emissions were cleaned: part b: Aug 14, to Oct 4 2023HEV system lights again, car stalled and died then towed : combustion cleaning 2nd time, spark plug corrosion replaced 2 time issue, 4 injectors replaced, recommend replace manifold (which I cannot pay for) dealer tech test drove 2 days and put 211 miles on car, more than we do in normal week driving to work and shopping In shop this time 52 days. This car has been taken in for all recall campaigns. Work done at same dealership every time. Is a sonata Hybrid SE I am attaching two files if you need more Please let me know. Your date entry below does not allow for each of the 3 times in shop total roughly 85 days four months Would like Hyundai to buy car back as no trade in value now and I cannot afford more rental fees and repairs and the balance due of $495.75 from 1st rental. Car just entering 6 year when first issue started.

My 2017 Hyundai Sonata SE is experiencing symptoms consistent with connecting rod bearing failure covered under Hyundai’s KSDS extended warranty program. June 22, 2019: KSDS software (Campaign 953) installed, qualifying the vehicle for Hyundai’s 15-year/150,000-mile warranty coverage for bearing failures. August 2022: Campaign 208 engine recall performed. Hyundai’s record shows Aug 15, 2022, while Wright Way Hyundai’s service history shows Aug 13, 2022 (discrepancy unresolved). March 2025 (100,238 miles): Vehicle went into limp mode with tailpipe smoke and loss of power. It was towed to Wright Way Hyundai, which kept it for several days but returned it with “no issue found.” The smoke continued. June 5, 2025 (103,996 miles): Oil change performed. August 27, 2025: Oil light illuminated, dipstick showed no oil. Vehicle now exhibits severe drivability issues consistent with bearing damage. Hyundai has incorrectly tried to reframe this as an oil-consumption issue and directed me to pay $600 for a combustion chamber cleaning. My issue is not oil consumption — it is a bearing-related failure already covered by warranty. Hyundai’s obligations include a no-cost inspection/diagnosis for connecting rod bearing failure, yet I have been denied that process. Despite repeated written requests, Hyundai continues to attempt phone communication instead of email, even addressing me by the wrong name in correspondence, which suggests reliance on standardized or generic responses. I have exclusively maintained the vehicle at Wright Way Hyundai, following Hyundai’s service schedule. I am resorting to filing this complaint because after weeks of email correspondence, Hyundai’s corporate agent refuses to help and the manager insists on only calling by phone — which I will not answer out of concern they will attempt to mischaracterize or dismiss my complaint verbally. This failure poses a safety risk because the vehicle has lost power suddenly and requiring restart.

My vehicle was purchased in 2018 and currently has 128,000 miles. I took it to the dealership because it was puttering and not holding pil. The dealership did some work on the vehicle. Furthermore, after that trip to the dealership, my car kept burning oil even after recent oil changes that I found myself constantly adding oil. I took it to another licensed mechanic who informed me after a tune up that my car is consistently burning oil. This was after I had a recent oil change. The engine is defective, hyundai knows they are defective and refuse to do anything about it.

Driving home car just shut off still had power to steer and brake but no engine. Pulled it off the main road and it leaked oil but still no engine. Already had the dealer replace the intake manifold at my expense despite hyundai knowing the plastic lever inside fails. We were lucky the snowplow was going the opposite direction as the weather was horrible as we got closer to home. I have a dead car in my yard waiting to have a dealer look at it. We could have been killed due to fault of engine.

MY 2017 HYUNDAI IS NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL FOR EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION AND I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY IT IS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY WEEK TO MY CAR AND HAVE TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. The camshaft position sensor internal rubber plug is faulty and it allows oil to leak into the sensor housing. Ruining the sensor and the brushes and housing. It causes the check engine light to come on the idle races and car takes off on its own. Can’t drive it because it’s to dangerous. Once it takes off then it goes into limp mode and you can’t pull out because of no power. 40000 miles. The internet is full of owners having the same problem

The vehicle is available upon requested inspection. Since I bought the car in 2019 it has made a rattling sound like the engine is knocking. Not a severe knocking, however, it does make a clicking/rattling sound in idle, occurs more rapidly while accelerating, then sounds like a muffled diesel while the engine’s torque is dropping when shifted into neutral coasting on the road. Oil has been changed in its due time. Between 3k - 7k as scheduled. Independent service provider didn’t think it was normal and recommend I check for recalls. I asked Hyundai dealership representative and said it’s a normal sound. Other vehicles I’ve driven don’t sound like this. Even an older ‘96 Buick sounded smoother running. Nothing has failed, caused an injury or accident. Engine light has recently come on. Temperature is hotter, according to the gage, than we’re it has typically sat for the past couple years. The potential risks increased, not knowing what can happen, when the temp rose and engine light comes. . . . . . . . . . . This, aside from previously stated concern, alarm activates (mostly during the rainy cloudy weather) when manually unlocking the car. Having to relook and unlock to silence alarm.

AFTER A TIRE CHANGE THE HAZARD LIGHT AND TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND SEE IF THE SENSOR NEEDS TO BE RESET. I TOOK IT IN A SHOP AND THE TIRE LIGHT WENT AWAY BUT THE HAZARD LIGHT REMAINED. I SAT FOR ABOUT 20 MIN AND TRIED TO TURN IT ON AND THE "CHECK HYBRID BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE CAR WOULDNT TURN ON. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THEM TOW IT TO HAPPY HYBRID IN AUSTIN TX AND WAS ADVISED IT MAY BE MY HYBRID BATTERY GENERATOR AS MY HYBRID BATTERY WAS AT 5%. THEY COULD NOT FIX IT BUT IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN SOUTH AUSTIN TX ON SOUTH IH-35. Important: This is hybrid vehicle. With the cruise control set to maintain a constant speed and while descending a long hill, the vehicle speed is maintained using dynamic braking by charging the battery. But if the grade is long - such as on CA 101 just north of San Luis Obispo, (locally referred to as the Questa Grade) there will come a time when the battery “gas gauge” reaches 100 % at which time the dynamic braking ceases and without warning the vehicle’s speed gradually increases and can reach excess speeds. If you are not paying attention to the speedometer the speed can become excessive in a hurry.

e vehicle is burning approximately 2 quarts of oil every month with no external leaks. This indicates severe internal oil consumption, which is a known defect in Hyundai’s Theta II 2.4 GDI engines. I discovered oil inside the VVT solenoid electrical connector and on other wiring, which shows oil is traveling through the engine harness. This causes hesitation, rough running, and the risk of sudden engine power loss. The vehicle feels unsafe to drive because the oil level drops quickly, and the engine could seize or stall while driving. Hyundai vehicles of this generation have a history of excessive oil consumption, piston ring failures, and engine fires, and I believe my vehicle is experiencing the same defect. This is a serious safety concern.

The check engine light came on and wouldn't accelerate normally. The speed was delayed and cutting back and wouldn't pass 40 mph. Upon taking it to a local shop it had to be taken to the buying location by road side assistance. After the service department checked into the problem it now needs a new engine. They stated there were metal shavings in the motor. This was transferred by a known problem in the 2.4 L motor that hyundai has put in their vehicles with problematic bearings. This happened within 2 months of buying this vehicle. We Can't drive it at all now so it's still at the shop.

I BOUGHT THE CAR USED FROM A SCAM DEALERSHIP. I HAD NO IDEA THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE RECALL IN JANUARY UNTIL IT TURNED OFF AND ON JUST ONE WEEK AFTER LEAVING THE LOT. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THEM, OBVIOUSLY, THEY SAID IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM. I THEN TOOK IT TO COLLEGE PARK HYUNDAI TO HAVE THEM UPDATE THE KNOCK SENSOR AND DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. AFTER AN EXTENDED ROAD TEST, IT WAS DECIDED THAT MY PROBLEM WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. YET I TOOK IT TO OTHER DEALERSHIPS, AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE SAYS THE SAME. MY CAR IS A 2017 SONATA SE 2.4L JUST SHY OF 21K MILES. I USE THE PARKING BRAKE ALL THE TIME AND YESTERDAY WHEN I GOT HOME AND DEPRESSED THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR - NO MORE WORKING PARKING BRAKE! ON THE FLOOR I FOUND A SMALL LOCKNUT AND A WASHER THAT FELL OFF THE THREADED END OF THE CABLE AT THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL. I REPAIRED IT MYSELF BY ADDING A SECOND REGULAR M6 NUT (10MM WRENCH) AND LOCKED THE TWO NUTS TOGETHER. ADDING THE SECOND NUT AND LOCKING THEM TOGETHER SHOULD PERMANENTLY FIX THE ISSUE.

THE SENSORS FOR BRAKING DID NOT WORK. I HAD AN ACCIDENT WHERE I REAR ENDED A TRUCK. THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK, ONLY SLID INTO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. I WAS ON A BUSY STREET WHEN AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE TURNED ON SIRENS AT THE LAST SECOND. THE TRUCK STOPPED AS IT SHOULD HAVE. I BRAKED AS HARD AS POSSIBLE BUT THE CAR KEPT GOING UNTIL IT COLLIDED INTO THE TRUCK. I HAVE READ REPORTS ON THE 2017 SONATA WHICH STATES THE CAR WILL STOP WHEN IT SENSES IMMINENT DANGER. THIS ONE DIDN'T. MY CONCERN IS- IS THERE MORE CARS LIKE THIS ONE OUT THERE THAT DON'T WORK AS IT SHOULD. I PURCHASED THIS CAR 02/2017. HAD ONLY 23 MILES. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine in my 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport is defective. Oil pressure failed testing, oil contamination was found on the oil pressure sensor and connector, and the vehicle has experienced excessive oil issues. The engine is still in my possession and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle has gone into limp mode on the highway, which caused a sudden loss of power and created a dangerous situation in traffic. The car also shakes, misfires, and loses power unexpectedly, which could lead to stalling or loss of control at highway speeds. I do not feel safe driving the car. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Multiple Hyundai dealerships have inspected the car. One confirmed low oil pressure and oil contamination at the sensor. Previous visits dismissed the oil warning and charged me for oil replacement instead of identifying the underlying defect. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by Hyundai dealers multiple times. I also have two inspection reports from the same dealer just two weeks apart with contradictory findings the first showing no oil issue, the second confirming oil contamination and failed oil pressure. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The oil warning light and check engine light have both come on. The vehicle has gone into limp mode, and symptoms have included shaking, misfiring, rough idling, and loss of power. These issues began months ago and have continued despite repeated service visits.

THE VEHICLE DOESN'T ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH, JERKS AND HESITATE. I CONTACT THE HYUNDAI DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, WILL NOT PROVIDE ME A LOANED VEHICLE AND WILL NOT COVER A RENTAL. MY WIFE JUST GAVE BIRTH TO OUR SON ON 03/21/2019 AND WE WERE DEPENDING ON THIS VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT THE BABY FROM THE HOSPITAL TO OUR HOME. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HYUNDAI TO BRING MY CAR IN TODAY 2/22 I WAS ASKED IF I HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS AND TOLD THEM MY CAR HESITATED AT ODOMETER READING 10022 MILES THEY CHECK MY CAR AND WAS TOLD MY CAR HAS NO ISSUES FOUND. JOHN MC MY SERVICE ADVISOR DROVE MY CAR WITH ME IN IT HE SAYS HE KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT HESITATED ON HIM AND SAY BUT WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. Complete loss of power. Car shut down at freeway speeds. Dealership runs codes and they cannot find out what specifically is causing issue. Issue cannot be replicated as it only happens a few times a year and has existed since shortly after purchase of the car brand new. There is articles all over the internet people having similar experiences. This car is NOT safe. Hyundai does not communicate hybrid system codes through their telematics system so there is no paper trail. The car also clears the codes out after 3 reboots following the check hybrid system codes. Dealer has reported car shut down due to voltage issues-not able to determine the reason since after reboot the car drives normally.

I work from home so I don't travel that much. A few months ago, my car was jerking when trying to accelerate. The engine light was flashing on and off. I took it on to the dealership and was told it was a computer update causing the problem. After leaving, the car was doing better, but not completely right as it was prior to the issue. I returned back to the dealership later to explain what else was going on. The car still Jenks on acceleration, but not as forceful. I was then told it is possibly my intake manifold and spark plugs. I plan to take my car back for the spark plugs, but I'm curious about the intake manifold. Either way, this is an issue for when I'm trying to accelerate after a stop and I have a long delay. It also does this on an incline. My car doesn't want to climb on an incline.

MY 2017 SONATA HAS STALLED WHILE IDLING IN DRIVE. THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT; RPMS DROPPED AND IT STOPPED. PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING, I HAD COMPLAINED TO MY LOCAL DEALER THAT WHEN IDLING, IT HAS DROPPED IN RPMS AND FELT LIKE IT WANTED TO CUT OFF BUT DID NOT...UNTIL TODAY. AT THAT VISIT, I HAD THE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICED, AS THEY THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THIS WOULD HELP. THAT WAS APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AGO AND NOW IT HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I AM TAKING THE CAR BACK IN AS I AM NOT CERTAIN WHAT ELSE IT COULD BE...MAYBE MASS FLOW SENSOR? I HAVE SEEN WHERE THE 2018 SONATA HAD A RECALL REGARDING HESITATION/STALLING ISSUES AND NOW I AM WONDERING IF THE 2017 HAS ISSUES AS WELL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AS NOW IT MAY CUT OFF ON ME AND NOT START UP AGAIN.

I have had many problems with my car since 1st day of purchase timing belt oilpans valve cover gasket burning excessive oil caliper brake hose last few events I have experienced my ABS light coming on in the car stop moving while am in traffic very dangerous I work for the hospice reserve one day while driving the car started shaking compulsive and the check engine light came on I was informed oil was leaking onto my spark plug and engine was going out I experienced extreme hot air inside the car coming out vents back firing etc my warranty in finical company seems to be ripping me off more concerned about money I have reported all these problems to them the past 13-14 months i was suppose to hear back from lisa warranty about this problem this past week no contact I reached out to Hyundai Corporation after visiting local dealership on Bedford automile a service rep by the name of aaron basically told me they cannot help me car will need a engine

While driving on a highway at ~60 mph, the check engine light came on (plus other indicator lights) and the car immediately dropped to ~45 mph. ~20 seconds later, while trying to pull into a school parking lot, the hybrid system fault warning came on and the car dropped to ~5-10 mph and then became extremely difficult to control. The car was towed ~80 miles to my home dealership and it was diagnosed as a partially blocked EGR tube. ~1 month later, on the next longer drive I had to make (all other drives were short distances), ~70 miles into the drive, the car started making a knocking sound and then suffered the same failure under the same kind of conditions. This was diagnosed as a failed knock sensor. One week later I tried to drive it a long distance to see if the problem would happen again (but closer to home) and while traveling on an interstate highway the same issue occurred. This time it was diagnosed as oil in the wiring assembly for the just replaced knock sensor. The dealership tried to give me the car back but I demanded that they do a long test drive. It took 4 days to get them to do what I asked and then they had it break down on them in the same way. I'm not 3+ weeks after that and still don't have the car back (now they're planning to replace the EGR assembly and intake manifold). Each breakdown has thrown the P1326 trouble code but Hyundai refuses to admit that the issue may be the engine itself (related to the recall). It took until the 3rd breakdown and a lot of demands to get a loaner vehicle. I don't know if this is the known engine issue, something else or new but don't feel that Hyundai is taking it seriously. If nothing else, the programming that was added to put the car in safe mode and prevent fires is too aggressive and in each case has made the car undrivable in less than 1 mile. I have gotten lucky in all cases that a safe place to stop was nearby but it is not safe to drive in many areas due to lack of safe pull off location

It's knock sensor issue code was showing since 85000 mileage, dealer just got rid of the code and said can drive safely. Then again at 101000 mileage knock sensor code and Hyundai dealer said software is updated can drive safely. Also it's engine oil burning faster that we keep on topup oil all time. Then at after 108000 mileage my car started overheating, & it's engine seized. Now Hyundai don't want to fix such problems. I don't know maybe it get fixed, then catches fire on highway can cause death.

Recall on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata was repaired 9/13/2019, purchased the vehicle with financing on 7/16/2021. On 8/18/2021, had vehicle towed back to the dealership and explained the issue. Engine knocking, tire pressure and engine lights on, frequent stalling, turning off, smell of gas and something burning, loss of power to the engine, car could not accelerate to 60 MPH. The dealership had my car till 9/20/2021, power train warranty was denied and voided, no loaner car was given, was not offered any reimbursement for car rental by dealership and Hyundai corporate. Although car is included in Theta class action lawsuit. I was correct about issue with engine, but the dealership replaced engine with used parts. No later than five days after having my car back, the engine and tire pressure lights came back on, car is tugging, and the engine noise is louder. I don’t believe that they replaced the engine with OEM parts.

My engine burns oil like crazy. At least 1 qt every 1,000 miles or less. Took to dealership and was given a hard time about it having an issue. Now my power steering light keeps randomly coming on. I'll feel the steering start to get hard to steer. Thought I needed belts so I replaced both serpentine & water pump belt but it still happens. When my power steering light comes on and steering wheel locks up, I have to put the car in park & rev the engine to get the light to turn off. Mechanics said all pulleys are in good shape so not sure what's doing it. My lights also start to flicker when power steering light comes on. I have a new altenator and battery so it's not caused from that. I have no idea what's causing it but it's extremely dangerous!!

On July 13, 3023, I was driving the vehicle and the pwwer steering light illuminated, but the light did go out. I took the vehicle to Stew Hansen Hyundai in Urbandale, Iowa, indicated the entire power steering column has got to be replaced. The parts hace been on back order, and as of today, August 16, the service center is still waiting for the parts to be delivered. The vehicle has slightly over 69,000 miles and 6 years. It's not covered under the warranty, Because that part is covered by the 5 year 50,000 warranty, so I have to pay an estimated $3,400. hundred dollars. I did share with the service agent that I received a power steering 15 years, 150,000 warranty extension notification, and provided him a copy, but waa told that was only for a specific part, and it did not apply to my repair, because my repair is for the entire power steering column. The reason why I'm paying this is because in June 2022, at 60,000 miles the vehicle's engine had to be replaced. That too took over two months to be fixed and returned to me, but repair as covered under warranty. Also, I'd be happy to share the information, but my vehicle is still in the shop for repair, depending on when the parts are received.

The steering wheel began making a clicking and crunching sound in June 2022. Happening inconsistently the issue was not looked into right away. In October 2022 the issue escalated with the power steering disengaging completely when the wheel was making the noise. The steering wheel becomes so hard and immovable, locking all most. The steering wheel waning light comes on and hydroplane slippery warning as well. The engine also shudders and turns off sometimes when cold and warm.

I EXITED THE FREEWAY ON BUCHANAN IN ALBANY, CA AND WAIT AT THE RED LIGHT. AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I TRIED PRESSING ON THE PEDDLE. I GOT NO RESPONSE FROM MY CAR AND IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. QUICKLY I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND TURN MY KEY TO THE OFF POSITION I DIDN'T FEEL MY CAR LOSE ANY POWER AT ALL IT WAS LIKE IT WAS ALREADY OFF RADIO WASN'T WORKING ANYMORE EITHER. I TURNED THE KEY TO CRANK MY CAR BACK ON AND IT STARTS UP IMMEDIATELY. I'VE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN TO ME 3 TIMES NOW TWICE IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED MY ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON SHORTLY AFTER THAN IT DISAPPEARED. MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN THE FIRST CAR I OWNED SO I'M 1000% PERCENT SURE THAT WASN'T THE ISSUE. I HAD TO GET THE TRANNY ON MY FIRST CAR REPLACED TWICE I'M VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE THAT STUFF. MY QUESTION IS WHAT CAN THIS BE? I'VE HEARD ABOUT HYUNDAI ENGINES CATCHING ON FIRE. Problem 1: I made a right turn at a red light. As I turned my power steering light turned on and my steering wheel locked up and I lost control of the vehicle. After stopping and turning off the vehicle, I restarted it. At this point I was able to regain control of the car. A few days later the same thing happened again as I made a right turn from a parking lot into the flow of traffic. One again I stopped the engine and restarted the car, then I regained control of the car. Problem 2 (May be related): My passenger side headlight was replaced a year ago. Recently the light went out again. I took the car in to a mechanic to repair it. It was repaired so I thought. Two days later the light went out again. The mechanic believes their may be an electrical issue. Problem 3 (May be related): My driver side brake light was replaced about a year ago as well. It has now gone out again. I have had my vehicle serviced twice by a Hyundai dealership at least twice since the first incident.

As I am driving, at random times, typically at cruising speeds of about 40 mph or less, the STEERING wheel will lock up and I will be unable to STEER the vehicle until I turn the car off and back on again. There are typically some warning lights (i’ll try to attach the picture) that pop up and go away once the car is turned off and back on again. No dealership that I have taken it to has been able to diagnose the problem since it does not, to my disdain, occur under their watch (it is not reproduced). This issue puts both my life and EVERYONE in my proximity’s life at risk as I have NO CONTROL of the vehicle once it locks up. At this point it has occurred for over 2 years that I have had this car. There are some warning signs right before it occurs. First, there is typically a sudden change in the resistance of the steering wheel. Particularly, it will become harder to move the steering wheel left but then turning it right will have NO resistance. As soon as this occurs I start to panic because it indicates that ANY turn at that point will lock the steering wheel. It has occurred this way every single time. Sometimes it happens in the opposite direction and the right side becomes stiff and suddenly any turn in the steering locks it up. This is VERY dangerous and can potentially kill. This model needs to be recalled!

On January 8, 2022, I called McGrath City Hyundai and Genesis of Oak Park to ask about any recent recalls on my vehicle due to my engine leaking out oil after putting in new oil. Prior to that, I had a mechanic look at it in case the oil change place made a mistake on their end and found they were not at fault. So after the Hyundai dealership told me there was 2 recalls that she can see from her end based on my VIN, 1 for the engine and the other for the trunk, we set up an appointment to try and repair the vehicle because at this point the vehicle was not drivable and we had to get it towed. We also had no prior knowledge that there was any recall due to the fact we bought the vehicle in May of 2020 from a dealership called Toyota of Lincoln Park. After bringing in paperwork to Hyundai in person for proof we have been maintaining the car and after waiting weeks for our car to be fixed, we are being told they cannot fix the engine due to the fact that the recall was from 2018 and the previous owners did nothing to resolve the issue. We were also told that the dealership that sold us the vehicle cannot look up recalls from other vehicles and only can do it with Toyota. The car had already almost failed on the expressway and could have caused an accident had we not pulled off to the exit. And we were fortunate enough to get it to our home. The engine wasn't locked up and we feel now it might be while in the hands of Hyundai. Hyundai has denied the claim to have it serviced due to it being a 2018 recall and all we want is the car running again. We cannot afford to get another car and it is our only means of transportation.

The blown out square area is still attached from the outer tire area like an open flap. The sidewall failed four inches in from the outer edge and ripped open. The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Sonata equip with Kumo Solus 215 55 R17 tires. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the front end of the vehicle would shake and vibrate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who discovered the steel belt were exposed on the front driver side tire. The tire was replaced and the problem was remedied. The same failure had later occurred on the front passenger side tire. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 23,000. Tires are under warranty.

THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING I RAN OVER A SMALL OBJECT THE TIRE'S SIDEWALL FAILED AGAIN THIS TIME ON THE DRIVER'S FRONT SIDE. I HAD TWO BLOWOUTS IN 2 DAYS FROM ROUTINE DRIVING ON THIS TIRE. Check engine light start flickering while I was driving down the road my vehicle went into limp mode and I lost all power. I checked my oil for metallic shavings or a creamy look but everything was cleaned. I got a code 1326 for knock sensor. I replaced and changed the oil and oil filter and reset the code. I started it up and it sounded good then I drove to see if it was fixed got on the highway and my engine went back into limp mode I lost power again. While driving the engine light comes on and blinks rapidly and the car drops from the speed of 65 to 15 or below in second. The code was p1326 with is the knock senor. I changed it and the code went away. Weeks later the code returned while driving again with me and my 3 little babies in the car again. Same issue engine light came on blinking speed drop rapidly. Read this is an occurring issue with this car and it must be taken in to the dealer for fixing.Dealer refused to check out the issue.

I am leasing a 2017 Hyundai Sonata from Car City in Michigan. In May 2025, the vehicle received a brand-new engine replacement due to previous problems. I picked the car up on [XXX], and on the same day, the vehicle began malfunctioning. It would not accelerate properly, jerked and stalled, and multiple warning lights — including the check engine light — came on immediately. This made the car unsafe to drive. I contacted the dealer, but they told me to wait until Monday to get it looked at, leaving me with a dangerous and unreliable car. The vehicle had already been in the shop for over two months for the engine issue, and I had only driven it for six months beforehand. I believe the repair or replacement engine is defective or was not properly installed. This creates a serious safety hazard. A car that stalls while driving puts everyone at risk. I was driving southbound on I429 approaching the Vineland Wintergarden (FL)exit. approximately .75 miles from exit, a bit of an uphill. I heard a ticking noise, then suddenly the car went silent. The screen lit up with every sensor flashing. It took me a few seconds to realize I was in potentially deadly trouble. The car began slowing from 70 MPH to maybe 25MPH as I crested the last hill. To add complications, that stretch is under construction and does not have any shoulder. I could see a wall of cars streaming ever closer in my rear view mirror. I believe my hazzard lights probably saved me from a crash before gliding the last 1/4 mile to the exit where I was able to finally pull over to safety.

The power steering system appears to be failing. There is no indication of the failure prior to failing. When making turns the power steering would randomly stop working, all emergency lights would turn on, and the steering would become extremely difficult to control. This becomes an extreme safety issue when I’m driving around other vehicles. I took my vehicle to a mechanic and they explained that the power steering is electronic, therefore power steering fluid will not fix the problem. Also, there’s an electrical issue with the windows as well. The passenger window can no longer can be controlled by the driver. Lastly, the AC has failed as well. It blows out only hot air. I’ve taken my car to the manufacture dealership and they assessed my vehicle for the AC problem, but they stated that it’s working fine. This is not true because I’ve continued to have problems with the AC, even after many failed troubleshooting attempts. To summarize my report, I have a total of 3 issues in order of importance, power steering, power windows/electrical, and air conditioning unit. My car is available immediately for inspection upon request. Thank you.

The drivers seat belt does not engage. The engine has been burning oil, misfiring, and even after thousands in repairs was returned to me by the dealership with continued misfiring. When returning the car back to the dealer service center days later after Hurricane Helene, the car continued to misfire and became so overheated the engine light was flashing. Upon calling for a tow, I attempted to raise the hood for the driver to locate the car, but the hood was so hot it burned my hand. The engine was so hot, I believe it was about to catch fire and would have had I not been able to pull over so quickly. Had I been driving on the Interstate, I have no doubt this car would have been on fire within minutes.

The vehicle has twice been disabled while driving due to “lost communication with hybrid module powertrain control module.” This breakdown is a significant safety hazard as the car loses power and coasts to a stop without any warning. The second time was on a 65 mph highway. Neither time has had any warning before the malfunction lights appeared. The first time occurred on 10/7, and the vehicle was towed to the dealership. Nothing was done besides clearing the trouble codes and test driving with the car, which returned at the end of October—the second time the breakdown occurred about a month later on 12/3. This second time, I removed the code myself on the roadside so as not to be in more danger, and I am currently awaiting an update from the dealership’s service department on their next steps after initially being told to just have it towed in again. Losing power without notice is incredibly concerning. I want to report this safety issue and determine my next steps to resolve it, as this has dramatically impacted my trust in the vehicle and its safety.

I own a 2017 Hyundai sonata base, I got the car at around 168k miles and it’s now sitting at around 180k the car burns oil like crazy, I had taken it to the Hyundai dealership in Gaithersburg, MD and they declined the oil consumption test under warranty since the extended warranty is only until 150k, then they tell me if my engine seized and was towed to a local dealer only then they would likely replace it due to its failure. That the engine would only be covered if it seized. This makes me nervous due to it could seize at any time or place, when I start my car I can hear a bad bearing and then it goes away after oil has been started to be moved around the engine more, a few seconds after starting the car. At last gave another call and same answer, if it siezed they believe Hyundai would replace it. Even when the oil is low no oil light appears, so I have to check it almost every time I go to drive as a full time student and full time employee this issue is really annoying. I just hope it if siezes it’s covered and I can get a rental to make it to work and university.

The contact stated that the dealer replaced the oil filter and the oil was refilled however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and an unknown part was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil. The dealer informed the contact that they would perform an oil consumption test and she would need to bring the vehicle back every 1,000 miles. The dealer’s report was sent to the manufacturer and the manufacturer opened a case. The manufacturer informed the dealer that the case was closed and advised the dealer to complete an engine cleaning. The engine cleaning was completed; however, the dealer informed the contact that she would need to complete another oil consumption test. The dealer diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that they had sent another report to the manufacturer and the manufacturer had requested pictures of the subframe of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Sonata that has had 3 recalls. I purchased the car in 2019 and all three recalls have been issued after 2019. Since I’ve had the car I’ve never taken it to Hyundai to get the recalls taken care of . Until recently I took my car to get the recalls fixed and they told me they had already been taken care of . The gave me the dealers contact information and I’ve never taken my vehicle to them they claim to have serviced my car at 122000 miles and I only have 94000 miles in my car. I believe they used my vin number to summit they fixed the recalls when my vehicle was never at their dealer. I contacted Hyundai and have not received any call back . The recalls for my vehicle are very serious recalls that I need to get fixed . One of them is the malfunctioning of the trunk latch my trunk does not open or close right now. I have a 6 month old baby and I need to put her stroller in trunk and I’m unable to do so. Also my car vandalized twice they tried to steal it. I need the security update . I just don’t know who I need to contact to help me get this resolved .

On or about August 13 2022, I notice the oil engine light come for a second, then it went off. After parking vehicle at my home and letting the engine cool off a bit and oil to settle, I checked dipstick only to find out that is was showing DRY no oils whatsoever, I then bought 1 qt of oil and added it to engine still dip stick showed dry and not a drop of oil on it. With still 3,000 miles to go before my next oil change, I decided to take it to PepBoys for a new oil change. After one week dip stick was showing oil on the low side and this time the metal on the stick showed whiteish, like it had been over heated. after this decided to take it to dealership GOSH HYUNDAI In Hemet 92545. I was told it would take 2 days to do some checks and get it ready for an oil consumption test. That is drive vehicle 1000 miles then take it in for another inspection (hopefully 1 day) then getting it back, drive another 1000 miles, then take back for another inspection. Being this my only Vehicle at this time, I am not sure why it takes so long to figure this out. OH did I mention Hyundai headquarters (I'm guessing) has to approve the oil consumption test, otherwise I am out a vehicle and have to pay for repairs. Not too mention the brake fluid reservoir is doing the exact same thing, fluid is being completely replaced every month to month and a half, by replace I mean adding a full reservoir worth of fluid because it seems to be evaporating. I am on the the third time adding fluid to this vehicle after GOSH Hyundai worked on my brakes (10000 miles a go). But this one I will have to pay 165 dollars for them to check it out. Nothing was said about me paying for engine oil issue check, plus they had me sign a affidavit to make sure I was the only owner on vehicle witch I am...So now the waiting game begins and to wait until someone makes a decision about fixing this issues?!!

Vehicle’s engine began to emit a knocking sound that would increase in volume and speed as engine progressed in speed. I HAD EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES MAKING NOISE AND NOT REACTING TIMELY THROUGHOUT 2019 BEFORE KNOWLEDGE OF A RECALL. ON 5/15/19 I WENT TO HYUNDAI SERVICES FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. HYUNDAI INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL, WHICH I NOW KNOW TO BE SERVICE CAMPAIGN 953, AND THAT THEY NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. ON MY DRIVE HOME AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS SUPPOSEDLY CORRECTED, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, WAS JERKING, AND WAS STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS OCCURRED IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA ON A CITY STREET. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AND BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN. FIVE DAYS LATER ON 5/20/19, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. ON OR ABOUT 7/26/19, MY POWER STEERING BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING AND MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK IF I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. Power relay has been replaced several times, air bags did not deploy with either wreck and loss control of steering causing a crash which bent the frame. Hyundai never once contacted me regarding this defective car they replaced motor in because of knock sensor and im lucky to be alive. I have been given an estimate up to $7,000 for an engine rebuild due to this happening. I have reached out to Hyundai and they denied my claim due to car being out of warranty. This should have never happened when the car has been well maintained,even with the motor burning through oil faster than it should be, which I have always kept a close eye on. I was taken advantage of by a bad car dealership who sold me a dangerous car that smokes leaked oil does not stop and locks up they said the car was safe they also did not explain the contract to me. He had immediate problems with the oil and smoke coming out of the car within the first week and went back to have an oil change they charged him money. The following week the same issue occurred with smoking and stalling of the car. He brought the car in for service and they tried to charge him almost $500 for a new gasket. I told them this is not right and I would report them to consumer affairs they said they would repair it 10 days later the same issue occurred and he brought it in again they put oil in the car and he had problems again. When he brought it back they said they need to keep the car to have it serviced and they would not provide him a loaner car. He is renting a car and spending a lot of money and he is making payment on the loan for the car. The dealership is forcing him to drive an unsafe car 1000 miles in order to have an engine replaced not care about his safety. They told him he has to drive the car for 1000 miles in order to have a warranty take effect he is scared to drive it. Total loss of power while driving occurred on 2 separate occasions driving the Hyundai Sonata. The dashboard lit up with multiple failures with no warning, and car lost all power. Both times were in peak traffic conditions and on one of the two instances, a very dangerous mountain road with very little time to react. Towed on 2 occasions to 2 different dealers with no clear cut fix for the car. These were very scary and dangerous incidents and I am afraid to drive this car to be honest. Hyundai has not done much to contact or reassure me that they were dealing with the situation.

I took my car to a shop due to my car having a loud knocking noise coming from the engine bay and lack of acceleration as well as the oil light flickering on and off and once the mechanic inspected my vehicle he said metal particles were being deposited into my oil due to internal engine parts. After picking my car up all the lights on the dash cut on and the car completely had no steering, no brakes, no power but the radio still worked. I barely could turn the steering wheel nor could stop the vehicle due to this and thankfully could coast into an upgrade leveled hill and stop the car. Car would barely recrank or hold power nor would go above 40 mph. Only drove 5 miles to get the car back home safely. Drove back around 3:00 a.m. so there wouldn't be much traffic out in case of something like this happening. Could've been catastrophic!

Tried to charge me for that! I get an engine diagnosis check done and they tell me nothing is wrong with my car! Before I could make it home engine light was on! Took it back now they saying engine manifold! Want to charge me for that! Now car won’t go over 20 mph! White car paint has chipped from the front roof and hood of car! Driving I see multiple white vehicles with paint chipped in the same areas of the vehicle! Call corporate they know about the the issue. They want to spot paint the car! If you spot paint it doesn’t fix the growing areas of peel up! There is no reason a 2017 and newer models should have huge metal spots for paint peeling already! Only on white Hyundai Sonatas mainly! I purchased a brand new Hyundai Sonata SE in 2017. After 1.5 years, I took a 3-4 hour road trip from Houston to Longview, TX. During that trip, my steering wheel locked and I could not turn the wheel as my traction and steering wheel light lit up on my dashboard. To remedy the problem, I had to turn the engine off and back on. There was no accident but there could have been since I was driving amongst other vehicles on the interstate. This was the first of many scary incidents with my locked steering wheel. I've reported and submitted this complaint to Hyundai but they have done nothing to remedy the problem. The Hyundai dealership explained they cannot do anything unless there diagnostic machine can detect the problem. I explained that it normally happens while I'm driving and that there are several online and Youtube reviews of other 2017 Hyundai Sonata vehicle owners with the same issue. I also showed the traction and steering wheel lights that come on when the steering wheel locks. Still there was nothing they could do. The vehicle is getting increasingly worse as I now must turn it off and on three times before the steering wheel unlocks. This is a danger to myself, my children, pedestrians, and other drivers. The steering wheel locks unexpectedly and without warning. I facilitate large groups and happen to mention my issue with the 2017 Hyundai Sonata today. They were alarmed about the dangers to myself and others while driving the 2017 Hyundai Sonata SE. I explained that it was previously reported to Hyundai and NHTSA but nothing was done to remedy the problem. The group encouraged me to report it again. I'm doing so with little to no confidence that mentioning it will do anything. It may take someone or people being killed or seriously hurt before anything is done. I can't afford another vehicle and need it for transportation. Otherwise I would have purchased another brand of vehicle.

The Abs brakes and traction control go in and out and affects the brakes while driving, I know there been reports of fire but for some reason my car is not in the recall, same thing with the air bags lights come on showing faulty air bags and on scanner tools but not recalled even though Hyundai knows about these issues. Now for engine I went to have my engine looked at 2 times for oil consumption and all they did was a combustion chamber cleaning twice which both failed in less the 8100 miles so when I took it back for another oil consumption test for the 3rd time today, the engine light came on, it started knocking, lost power and riding rough. Well, they did an engine scanner test and suspect faulty rings allowing oil into the combustion chamber and fouling my new sparks plugs that was installed less then 10000 miles ago, now they tell me I need a new engine and refuse to replace it for free even though they said they fixed the problem before with the engine cleaning now the same part is the problem and now, I am without a car to drive! They tell me I can lose power while driving which could lead to a car accident.

On a dark or dimly lit road the low beam headlights create a sharp boundary looking through the windshield with headlight illumination on the lower area and darkness on two thirds down from the top of the viewing area. It is as if the windshield has a line horizontally across it two thirds down in the field of view. The line bounces when the car bounces and dark upper portion can not be properly viewed through to see the road ahead. It is a safety issue due to poor visibility. The dealer has said a few times there is no issue and no reported issue. All they could do was adjust the headlights an inch. It didn't help. I don't drive it at night unless I have no choice and only very short distance. It got much worse recently. I won't sell this car to anyone, its not safe.

WHILE DRIVING THE 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA AT SPEEDS OF 60 PLUS MPH THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS. EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK ! WE DROVE 2/3 OF WAY ON I-75 HIGHWAY & ONLY STOPPED ONCE FOR GAS . WE NOTICED A THUMPING SOUND & OUR CAR STARTED "PULLING TO THE RIGHT". WE THOUGHT IT WAS A FLAT TIRE & STOPPED AT THE NEXT REST AREA TO INSPECT TIRES FOR PROPER PSI INFLATION...ALL TIRES CHECKED OUT OK?? THERE WAS NO "WARNING LIGHTS ON " SO WE GOT BACK ONTO I-75 & WE REALLY GOT NERVOUS AS THE SHAKING REALLY GOT WORSE AS WE DROVE ON. WE SLOWED DOWN TO 40 MPH. WITH FLASHERS ON. WE CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR DIRECTIONS TO NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. WE SLOWLY MADE IT TO RICK CASE HYUNDAI WHO INSPECTED OUR CAR & WERE "SHOCKINGLY TOLD THAT THE (2) RIGHT SIDE TIRES EXPERIENCED "BELT SEPERATIONS " & THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY WITH A NEW WHEEL ALIGNMENT (OVER $ 500). TECH SAID ! WOW THAT LOOKS LIKE TWO MANUFACTURER DEFECTIVE TIRES ! WE CARRIED 2 TIRES BACK TTO OUR LOCAL HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPT IN NPR & WILL TRY TO GET REIMBURSED BY HANKOOK ! THIS IS A "SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE " WITH THESE TIRES AS WE HAVE READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE MODEL TIRES. ON NOVEMBER 23, 2019 I STARTED MY CAR AND PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY. MY POWER STEERING LOCKED, THE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. I HAD TO FORCE MY STEERING WHEEL TO TURN MY CAR BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY TO GET IT OFF THE ROADWAY. I TURNED MY CAR OFF, AND BACK ON AND LIGHTS DISAPPEARED AND I HAD CONTROL AGAIN. A FEW WEEKS LATER, DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY STEERING GOT TIGHT AND FOUGHT MY CAR TO GET IT HOME. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THE WHOLE POWER STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL ON A CLICKING NOISE I HAD BEEN HEARING FOR A FEW MONTHS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THEY REFUSED TO THINK IT WAS THERE PROBLEM. TODAY JANUARY 2, 2020 I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, GOING 55 MILES PER HOUR. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND POWER STEERING. I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING MY CAR. I HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME TO GET MY CAR OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID GETTING HIT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND THE LIGHTS SEIZED. THIS CAR IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND HYUNDAI IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM OTHER THAN GIVING EXPENSIVE BILLS TO FIX. THE CAR IS NOT EVEN 3 YEARS OLD, THERE SHOULD NOT BE THIS MANY PROBLEMS ALREADY. ALSO PAINT IS RANDOMLY PEELING ON THE ROOF AND HOOD OF MY CAR.

OVER THE PAST MONTH MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TIMES DUE TO IT MALFUNCTIONING WHILE I AM DRIVING IT - AND THAT IS NOT INCLUDING WHEN I TOOK IT IN AT THE END OF AUGUST BECAUSE THE TRUNK MERCHANISM BROKE AND IT WOULDN'T CLOSE. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND WHEN I WAS ON A ROADTRIP, OUT OF NOWHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND, LIKE OTHERS ON THE NHSA WEBSITE HAVE STATED, IT WAS VERY JUMPY AND WOULDN'T GO PAST 45 MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED A SAFETY RECALL IN THE WIRING SYSTEM AND IT WORKED FINE FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE SECOND TIME THEY TOLD ME THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS ESSENTIALLY BROKEN AND THERE WERE LITTLE METAL PIECES INSIDE. IT TOOK A WEEK TO REPLACE AND THEN EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR A FEW DAYS UNTIL YESTERDAY. YESTERDAY THE BATTERY LIGHT TURNED ON AND THE REPAIR SHOP LET ME KNOW THE BATTERY WAS IN GOOD HEALTH BUT LOW ON CHARGE SO THEY CHARGED IT AND IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. THEN THIS MORNING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY ALL OF THE EMERGENCY SERVICE LIGHTS (CHECK ENGINE, CHECK BRAKES, ETC.) CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND IT WAS UNDRIVABLE. I BY SOME MIRACLE MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OVER WHERE I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I AM AWAITING TO HEAR WHAT IS WRONG. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CAR. AFTER READING UP ON IT APPARENTLY THERE SEEMS TO BE ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, THAT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT HIT ANYONE BUT I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED ALL FOUR TIMES THE CAR MALFUNCTIONED. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE DEALER TO HAVE BEEN DUE TO MANUFACTURAL DEFECTS - SOMETHING THAT IS OUT OF MY CONTROL AND SHOULDN'T HAPPEN FOR A CAR THAT IS UNDER 26K MILES.

I WAS DRIVING VERY SLOWLY TO MAKE A TURN INTO MY GARAGE WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND HIT THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE BREAKING THROUGH A PATIO GUARD RAIL. THE FRONT WHEELS OF THE CAR WENT OVER THE BULKHEAD. INSURANCE COMPANY SENT A WRECKER TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE CAR. THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION HAD OCCURRED ONCE WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE ROAD IN CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED BEYOND THE SET CRUISE CONTROL SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VISALIA HYUNDAI (559-302-9702, LOCATED AT 220 S. BEN MADDOX WAY, VISALIA, CA 93292) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.

PURCHASED OUR 2017 SONATA SPORT IN DECEMBER OF 2016. IN JULY I HAD MY FIRST POWER STEERING ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON I LOSE POWER STEERING AND CAN BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. I HAVE TO PULL OVER WITH GREAT STRUGGLE AND TURN THE CAR OFF THEN RESTART IT TO BE ABLE TO GET POWER STEERING BACK. THE LIGHT FOR POWER STEERING ILLUMINATES ON THE DISPLAY PANEL AND THEN DISAPPEARS AFTER I RE-START IT. ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AT TIMES, BUT OFTEN JUST THE POWER STEERING FAILS. HAPPENS USUALLY AT SPEEDS AROUND 20-30 MILES PER HOUR. ONCE GOING 40. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME. CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE DISPLAY PANEL REPLACED BECAUSE ONLY ONE HALF WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE DISPLAY PANEL FAILED AFTER ONLY HAVING THE CAR 1 MONTH. TOOK OVER 3 MONTHS FOR THE PART TO COME IN SO THEY COULD FIX IT.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING I HAD COME TO A STOP AT THE STOP LIGHT. WHEN IT TURNED GREEN I BEGAN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. HALFWAY THROUGH THE TURN AT A FEW MILES AN HOUR MY ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. AT THE SAME TIME THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV TO ABOUT 4500 RPM. IT DIED DOWN QUICKLY. I THEN HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS I HAD JUST ENTERED A TOWN. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT. IT WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER. THE SHIFTER BECAME LOCKED IN THE PARKING POSITION AND EVEN AFTER USING THE SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON I WAS STILL UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY AGAIN I HAD JUST ENTERED A TOWN BUT A FEW MILES BEFORE THAT I WAS ON COUNTRY ROADS WHERE THERE WAS NO CELL PHONE SIGNAL AT ALL. I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF LUCK AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER WITH ME. AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF OF WAITING THE TOW VEHICLE CAME AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME AND THEN ONCE AGAIN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP I HAD BOUGHT IT FROM. IT HAS NOW BEEN SITTING THERE FOR 5 DAYS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD REPEATEDLY NOW THAT NO ONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT IS WRONG AND HAVE HAD TO GET A SPECIALIST TO COME IN TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT.
