Fuel injectors cause car to lose power while driving in traffic, on the highway which can cause accidents. This event happened twice one while entering the highway and one while going past a light. Neither caused an accident at the time. The car both times were taken to the dealership and the fuel injectors had to be replaced both times. The first time was in December 2024 at 12k miles

While driving at highway speed, my vehicle suddenly lost power due to fuel injector failure and could not be restarted, creating a serious safety risk for myself and others in high-speed traffic. This is the second vehicle of the same year and model that I’ve owned to experience the exact same injector failure. In the first case, one injector was replaced under a Hyundai service bulletin before I sold the vehicle. This second occurrence confirms that the issue is not isolated and should be escalated to a formal safety recall. The most recent failure was diagnosed and repaired by Hyundai, confirming the problem (this time replacing all injectors). The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance, or other outside representatives. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure—it occurred without any warning, significantly increasing the risk of a crash

Failed fuel injector caused 3rd cylinder misfire car only has 30,000 miles I'm the second owner I've only had it 2 weeks and this issue happened.

The fuel injectors failed again, leaving me stranded on a busy road. The first time this happened, I had a little over 8,000 miles on my vehicle - 5 months after purchase. That was two years ago. Now, the injectors have failed for the second time and I am having to pay just north of $1,000 to get them replaced at my Hyundai dealership. It was a terrifying thing to experience and my safety was at risk due to my vehicle decelerating on a busy street. I had to call the police to help shield my vehicle from other drivers. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer upon inspection and diagnosis, and the police officer that was at the scene also could see that my vehicle would not start. This dealer works at the company that manufactures Hyundais. Prior to the fuel injection failure, there were brief moments where the 'check engine' light would illuminate but it would never stay on long. Directly before my vehicle shut off on the road due to the failure, there were no light/lamps/or other symptoms noticeable.

My car stalled while driving through an intersection and nearly caused a T-Bone collision. The car would not start afterwards and towed to dealership. The car currently has 32000k miles on it. The inspection report stated leaking fuel injectors causing misfires. This was covered by warranty. The parts are currently backordered with no eta on possible repair indicating it might be a widespread issue. There were no warnings or lights prior to incident. The car had just been serviced at 30k miles by the dealership with no indication of possible failure given to me by maintenance department. The dealership is out of loan vehicles and I’ve been without a vehicle for 6 days now causing work and personal issues.

My car was having an issue where it was losing all the coolant, causing my engine to overheat twice while driving down the highway. Unfortunately I couldn't find a leak anywhere and there was no fluid leaking in my garage. I lost an entire reservoir of coolant overnight. After taking my car to the dealership to get repaired, I was told that it was leaking my coolant into the exhaust system and burning it up. I was also told "it was a know issue, they had a bulletin from Hyundai on how to fix the problem, and Hyundai completely redesigned the part to stop the leak and it had to be special ordered." I was without my car for a week and left with a $1300 bill as apparently it was not covered by my warranty. I have no idea how a known issue is happening so frequently that requires a nationwide bulletin and a part redesign, yet somehow is recalled. Especially considering it left me stranded on the side on the side of the highway in Indiana during a snow storm but someone seriously needs to investigate it.

I am reporting a serious coolant system defect on my 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid with about 13,500 miles. The vehicle develops an internal coolant leak while driving. Coolant burns off and white steam/smoke comes out of the exhaust, especially during acceleration. When this happens, the coolant level drops quickly, the interior heater stops working, and the car soon displays an engine overheating warning, forcing me to stop driving. This has happened multiple times and makes the vehicle unsafe. When I checked under the hood, coolant was at a low/empty level after overheating events. The car becomes undriveable once the alarm appears. I took the vehicle to a Hyundai dealer, and even though the vehicle is only 2 years old, they told me it was “out of warranty.” I had to pay about $1,500 for repairs, and since the dealer refused a loaner, I paid $250 for a rental car. I called Hyundai USA on 9/13/2025 and opened Case Number XXX. Hyundai acknowledged they are aware of coolant issues on the Sonata Hybrid but said no recall exists. This issue appears widespread. Many other owners report the same symptoms: white exhaust steam, coolant smell, coolant loss, no interior heat, and engine overheating. Hyundai released TSB 23-EM-009H, describing a failure where coolant leaks internally in the Exhaust Heat Recovery System (EHRS), causing white smoke and overheating—matching my symptoms exactly. This defect is a safety hazard because overheating can occur suddenly while driving, risking engine damage or breakdown in traffic. I request NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential recall-level defect on the 2023 Sonata Hybrid. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The fuel injectors failed on my Hyundai Sonata in two instances. Once on 5/23/24 and once on 9/7/25. During the first instance, I was driving on a local road when the accelerator stopped working and the engine started sputtering. We were fortunately able to stop at a nearby parking lot before the engine completely stopped working. During the second instance, I was also driving through a local road when the accelerator stopped and the engine started sputtering again. This time, we weren't able to reach a safe stopping point and the engine died on the road. My family was with me at the time, so we had to push the car in neutral to the closest safe space. In both cases, our safety and the safety was others was put at risk as the car become unable to accelerate, and the car stops moving. We had to get out on the road and push the car with oncoming traffic. The problem was confirmed by the dealer in both cases, and they replaced the fuel injectors in both cases. So far, they've replaced 3 out of the 4 fuel injectors so I still drive in fear of another fuel injector causing a breakdown while I'm driving. There were no warnings or symptoms prior to the failure so there was no way to know to stop driving and to stop in a safe spot. We were fortunate to be able to move the car to a safe place for both instances, but if this had happened on the highway or secluded location, our lives could've been at risk. I've requested Hyundai to replace the last fuel injector but they're refusing to do so. I only feel safe driving in local roads or short highway trips as I fear for the reliability of my car, my safety, and the safety of others.

I was driving my 2023 Hyundai Sonata with 22,000 miles on I-96 near Grand Rapids Michigan at or slightly below the speed limit of 70 MPH. Suddenly, with no advance warning of any kind, the engine shut down. I was able to coast and maneuver to the right shoulder of the road while avoiding traffic, including a large tractor trailer that almost hit us. The vehicle than had just enough power to get off the next exit and on a local side street. At that point the vehicle would not restart and you could smell a strong odor of fuel. I called Hyundai and they sent a tow truck to take it to the nearest dealer. (I am 700 miles from home). The dealer's service department diagnosed the problem then replaced the fuel injectors still under warranty.

Driving going 30 mph, vehicle stopped accelerating. Error code was Engine Control System failure. Codes P2178, P0301 and P0087F0 were shown at dealership. Car was taken to dealership for repairs where the fuel injector on cylinder #1. 16 days after receiving car back, we went to start the car and it wouldn't start. After several attempts, gasoline began spewing from the car leaking an entire tank of gas on our garage floor and driveway. Very dangerous! Being towed to dealership again today.

I have had this car checked out 3 times and on my way to the 4th appointment. I can be in the middle of the road or pulled up in my driveway the RPMs go crazy shuts off every light comes on then clicks and I have to waite and try to restart. This car has been a problem since we bought it brand new even the chrome has come loose on it. Took to 1 dealership they said it's not throwing a code so nothing they can do I pulled out of the dealership onto the busy highway and the rims went crazy lights came on and it died called the mechanic that said nothing was wrong he came out got it running took it back came back said nothing showing up so there was nothing he could do. I'm driving another 3 hours away hoping I make it to another dealership that said they would look at it after I sent pictures and a video to the mechanic. I will NEVER buy another hyundai again and definitely tell anyone I know not to.

My name is [XXX] , and I am the frustrated owner of a 2023 Hyundai Sonata SEL. For context, I am a [XXX] woman who had never experienced the frightening event of a “brand new” car breaking down—until now. I am still in shock and trembling from the experience I had with my “new” 2023 Hyundai Sonata on the morning of [XXX]. At 9:30 a.m., I was driving on [XXX] . I was driving the speed limit (55 mph) and cruising along when, all of a sudden, as I went to accelerate, my vehicle instead began decelerating rapidly. I pressed the gas pedal, thinking I might have let up too much or accidentally had my foot on the brake. However, pressing the gas only caused the RPM to spike, with no change in my speed. I had to act quickly, paying close attention to the surrounding traffic as my car slowed down. Thankfully, I managed to maneuver from the far-left lane to the shoulder of the highway. My speed had dropped to around 30 mph and was decreasing. Trying to safely navigate a slowing vehicle on a highway filled with traffic is an adrenaline rush I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I was in a state of severe panic. As I steered the car onto the shoulder, I noticed it was shaking and struggling to move forward. White smoke was also coming from the exhaust. Once safely stopped, I put the car in park and turned off the engine to let it cool down. After a few minutes, I restarted it and noticed the engine, oil, and battery indicators were all illuminated on the dashboard. My first thought was a battery issue, but the car was still able to turn on. However, the engine did not start. A notification appeared, stating the car was not in a condition to be driven. After receiving the car back from the Hyundai Dealer I was notified that the issue was due to fuel injectors failing. During snow and icing conditions the forward collision radar in the logo gets covered up and becomes inoperable. This at the very time that we most need forward collision warning. It would helpful if there was electric deicing in the unit, much like the rear view side mirrors.

This is the 3rd time it happened to me. I was driving on the highway at speed 60-70 and a flash came across my dash that said emergency brake warning and my car started slowing down. I panicked and pulled over the road. The warning came on so fast and not even a min it stood on. It went off within 5 seconds. This is a safety hazard and can cause death when this happens. Please issue a recall for this to be fixed because this is dangerous to me and other drivers. I want my money back because this is the manufacturer defect or issue. They need to correct this before fatalities happen.

On a highway cruising at 70mph with the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control ) on and following distance set at max a car from another lane turned into my lane and then continued to an off ramp. My car initially braked and then downshifted from 8th to maybe 4th and accelerated hard - scaring me and my passengers. I did add to the actions of the car by pressing the following distance button on the steering wheel a few times. I had owned a 2016 Sonata with ACC and drove over 100K miles with ACC operating. That is why i pressed the following distance button - to lessen the actions of the car when the car entered my lane. The 2016 also had a ACC setting of Fast, Normal, & Slow (I used normal). The 2023 has no ACC setting. I did complain to my dealer and he said this was normal and nothing happened. I feel this is dangerous so reported it to Hyundai Customer Service. They told me to go to my dealer.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the fuel mileage abnormally increased from 320 to approximately 431. An unknown message was displayed, and the contact received a notification on the Mobile App about a diagnostic trouble code for the EVAP sensor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the EVAP system valve was stuck open. The dealer replaced the EVAP system, and the dealer then determined that the fuel tank was swollen due to the failure. The contact stated that the rear seat sensor was malfunctioning and was causing a warning light to illuminate erroneously, which the dealer related to the fuel tank swelling and lifting the metal underneath the seat. The dealer also replaced the fuel tank. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and covered the repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 73,245.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was a loud sound coming from the rear end underneath the floorboard like a part slamming on the undercarriage of the vehicle. The contact stated that the fuel gauge suddenly indicated that the fuel tank was EMPTY. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the gas valve and electronic control unit (ECU) had failed. The contact stated that the gas valve was replaced, and the electronic control unit (ECU) was updated. After receiving the repair, the contact noticed that while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle downshifted before shifting to the desired gear and accelerating. The failure was most persistent while driving uphill. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, All Star Hyundai (3950 Century Ct, Pittsburg, CA 94565) who was unable to diagnose the vehicle due to not having the tool necessary to detach the fuel tank. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer, San Leandro Hyundai a Carnamic Car Center (1066 Marina Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94577) who diagnosed that the pressure valve was swollen and the entire fuel tank and pressure valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Due to the inconsistency of diagnostic results, the contact decided to take the vehicle to another dealer, Fremont Hyundai (43690 Auto Mall Cir, Fremont, CA 94538) who diagnosed that the pressure valve was swollen but had not diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced due to not finding a failure with the fuel tank. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately failure mileage was 75,000.

Filled gas tank up on Friday [XXX] about 10am as leaving Boca Raton, FL to head North to New Port Richey, FL. About 30 minutes later the gas mileage said there was only 90 miles left in the tank. Stopped at the next gas station to make sure nothing was leaking, added a little more until it clicked, basically full again. Got to approximately [XXX] near Morris Bridge in Tampa area, the car started to decelerate and then all the engine lights came on and car was shutting off, was able to pull to the left side of the road and Looked into the back seat noticed the back seat was rising. Looked under the back of the car and the frame looked like it was pushing up into the backend of the car. DOT was called out to the scene as it appeared the car could have exploded. This could have killed my [XXX] daughter (which was who was driving the car) or other people on the road. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Twice within the first 26k miles i had 2 individual fuel injectors go bad. Both times my check engine light came on in the middle of driving, and then my car would no longer increase in speed and left me stranded on the road. Luckily, i was able to pull over to the side of the road. The random malfunction of the vehicle could’ve caused an accident or put my life, as well as the drivers on the road, in danger. When my vehicle arrived at the dealership, i was told that it was “because of the gas i was putting in my car”. I have never had any problems with any other vehicle when using the same gas, and have never heard of it from anyone else except from people with the same make and model as me. The dealership refused to replace the other 2 remaining fuel injectors because “they aren’t in need of repair” but acknowledged that I will just have to wait until the other 2 fuel injectors go bad and possibly be stranded in the middle of the road again. When picking up my vehicle after the seconds repair, I was told that my timing cover was leaking oil and that was repaired as well. When asked how that happened, the service center told me it was a factory malfunction. The first incident where Cylinder 2 went bad was on 12/27/2023 at 13,143 miles The second incident where Cylinder 3 went bad as well as the leaking timing cover was on 12/2/2024 at 25,890 miles

For like the fifth time while I'm driving the car just dies. I can be going 55 I can be going 70 and the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree and the car just dies. I have to pull the car over to the side and I have to turn it off and restart it again. And then about 3 days later the check engine light will go away. This seems like a software issue but Hyundai and my local dealer cannot help me I'm going to get killed in this thing. I can't take it on the highway I can barely take it down the street because it could go out on me while I'm driving and I could be in the middle lane and I could get killed. They tell me they can't replicate the issue but it's a software issue somebody needs to do something before I get killed. Every single light on the dashboard turns on and the engine just dies. This is like the fifth time this has happened. I think this car is a lemon but no one will help me.

I was driving on the interstate at interstate speeds and the car started to lose power. I was able to steer the car to a safe location and call roadside assistance. It appears that the engine control system had a failure in one of the control modules. The problem was reproduced at the time that I dropped the car off with the service center. The history of the issues for the vehicle are available. My safety was put at risk because the car lost power at high speed and I was only able to limp to a safe location. No warning lights happened until the issue was already taking place. After being notified by my Hyundai app, I was able to discover that the vehicle had a history of having this code (I have only owned the car for 32 days)

I have been having transmission issues the whole time I've had the car. There is a delay upon take off, and it bogs down instead of downshifting. I was driving my son to school and made a left turn. It started to go but then delayed for 10 seconds before suddenly taking off. If the on coming traffic had been closer, they would've hit us. The dealer has reproduced the problem but can't get enough information for the tech line to approve a new transmission even though the dealership has repeatedly said that is what it needs. I've never had a warning light on it. it's been in the shop for it this time since 7/26/24.

Car is 2 days old and I have an appointment tomorrow to have it looked at. This sounds like similar problem that caused a recall last year on the 2022. This is a dual clutch auto.

The car would not accelerate, nor switch gear while I'm driving middle of the highway. The car engine started to shake after my car wouldn't switch gear. The car engine would not start after turning the car off and caused a engine misfire. The transmission gear has a hard time switching gear from 0-40mph. This same incident occurred twice since purchasing the car in late November 2022.

I was driving on the freeway, at the speed limit, cruising along. Then all of a sudden, my vehicle starts to decelerate from 65 MPH and I push the gas, thinking I must have let up too much on the pedal. However, that only causes the RPM to drastically rise with NO change in my speed. I thankfully managed to maneuver from the far left lane to the freeway shoulder on the far right. The whole time, my speed was around 40 MPH and dropping drastically. Trying to safely navigate a slowing vehicle on a 65+ Texas freeway is an adrenaline-rush that I wouldn’t wish on anybody. I was severely panicking. I was almost hit by several vehicles in my maneuvering. I could have died last night. Once on the shoulder, I tried to start my car. I thought it may be a battery issue, but it turned on. It didn't start, though. The lights came on, as did all of the typical system/dash lights that usually indicate when a car’s engine hasn’t “turned over.” I used Bluelink to call for roadside assistance (since I’m only a little over 2 months into ownership) and waited. I was escorted off of the freeway to safety — thanks to a 3-car police escort AND free city tow trucks — and eventually picked up by Hyundai-serviced AAA. The latter then towed my vehicle to the dealership where I bought my Sonata. My car is currently being checked/inspected by my dealer (North Freeway Hyundai) and I only have gotten the following notice from Bluelink: "A possible condition with your Engine Control System has been detected with your 2023 SONATA on 02/22/2023 at 07:23 am CST. A full system check is recommended to be done soon." I checked and there are no open recalls (currently). Even more concerning, my car recently underwent complimentary maintenance, including an oil change, through my dealer (on February 13, 2023 - I have the receipt), was good on gas, and had no warning lights displaying. Until it stopped running — the time I tried to start it on the side of the road, the dash showed an “engine” light.

MY 2023 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED HAS AN ISSUE WHERE WATER ENTERS THE REAR LEFT DOOR AND GETS TRAPPED BETWEEN THE LOWER DOOR SEALS. WATER POURS OUT WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. A GOOGLE REVIEW OF "SONATA REAR DOOR LEAK" SHOWS THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS DOOR AND CAR MODEL. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR IN A NORTHERN CLIMATE THE DOOR WOULD HAVE ICE COLLECT BETWEEN THE DOOR AND DOOR SILL AND PREVENT THE DOOR FROM OPENING IN AN EMERGENCY. GOOGLE SHOWS NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS ADDRESSED . MOST WITH NO SUCCESS FROM HYUNDAI. I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO COCONUT CREEK HYUNDAI IN COCONUT CREEK FLORIDA IN AUG 2023 AND WAS TOLD "THIS CONDITION IS COMMON TO THE MODEL". NO FIX ATTEMPTED. I ESCALATED TO HYUNDAI USA, AND THEY LITERALLY STATED THEY CANNOT SUPERCEED THE DEALER AND TO TAKE THE CAR ELSEWHERE. THEY IGNORE THE DOOR ISSUE AND ALSO STATED ON RECORDED CALL ( THEIR RECORDING) THAT THIS CONDITION IS COMMON TO THE MODEL. I FEAR THE FIRST ACCIDENT THAT THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED DUE TO INTERNAL ICE COLLECTION. PLEASE JUST GOOGLE "SONATA WATER IN DOORS" TO SEE HOW COMMON THIS IS!

The power-operated driver seat has moved on its own, without warning, while the vehicle is in gear, potentially moving the driver away from being able to reach the brake pedal or otherwise control the vehicle. The vehicle uses seat position memory pre-sets and/or driver profiles, such that even if a new driver sets the seat position manually or by using a pre-defined memory setting, will move the seat to the position it was last driven in. The driver can stop the seat from moving further by either activating the seat position controls or by selecting a seat position memory setting.

On June 4 as son was turning, the car started shaking & went to park. He managed to slip into a nearby parking spot & tried to reverse. The car turned on, put into reverse & then after about 2 seconds it went to park & stopped. This happened several times. It was towed to the dealer who today, June 10, reported it was a transmission flaw. The car was being driven at about 30 mph on a 2 way street. Had it been on the interstate at a higher speed, it may have caused a dangerous situation with a sudden stop.

2023 Sonata N-Line, complete loss of power while driving on seven (7) occasions over the past year. In all cases above 60mph creating a dangerous condition to myself and fellow drivers while attempting to pull to the side of the road while rapidly losing speed. In all seven (7) cases, the DTC code is P065312. I have asked the dealership to note the recurring issue in my service records and I have reached out to Hyundai, mostly so that if I am involved in a serious accident because of this issue, there is a paper trail for legal purposes. The dealership folks are nice but basically unless the car rolls into the dealership with smoke pouring out of the engine, they want to charge a diagnostics fee and keep the car for multiple days which isn't helpful because like most, I need the car and the issue is extremely sporadic. It is disappointing and I hope Hyundai takes note and provides remedy for the issue sooner rather than later as this is my sixth (6th) Hyundai vehicle and really do like the car otherwise. I was driving into work on a major road (about 45 mph) when my 2023 Hyundai Sonata stopped accelerating and my engine gave out. Initially I thought I was accidentally pressing on my break pedal but when I realized I wasn’t pressing the break, I had just enough time to turn on my hazards and get out of traffic and onto the shoulder of the road. I was stuck between a main exit and the major road. My battery, oil, and engine lights came on (no service lights had been on prior to this incident) and my car was just very slowly rolling before it automatically engaged my parking break - which makes me fearful of what would have happened if I had still been in busy traffic. I could gotten very badly rear-ended. My car only has just over 5600 miles and I never had any issues with it before and kept up with the general maintenance. I attempted to restart my car to no avail and about 30 minutes later I was able to restart my car but there was a very strong vapor smell in the cabin of my car. I got my car towed to a dealership and was informed one of my fuel injectors was misfiring/gone bad - similar to many other incidents on this site. I asked the dealership if they were able to view the state of my other fuel injectors and was told they were unable to do that, so I am unsure if other fuel injectors will go bad in the future.

SERVICE BRAKES
1 complaint
Since I have had the car, I would have to check my invoices for exact mileages, I have changed my brakes 4 times now. I only have 40k miles on the vehicle. This is very bizarre to me since I have owned a 2020 Hyundai sonata SEL convenience prior to this and never once changed the brakes. I have also changed my rotors once, resurfaced them another then, and I am in the process of changing them again. Now to this day, my calibers are shot. They will take 2 months on back order to come in from Korea. Maybe Hyundai needs to look into N lines in specific as I have read many people complaining about the same thing. It's 40k miles and I am just now needing to change my rear brakes, seems pretty reasonable. Something is very wrong with this car.

POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

On 4 occasions in the last 4 months when I push the gas my cars rpm will go up but the car does not accelerate. This has happened twice on the interstate when trying to merge with trsffic and twice in city traffic, once when making a lefthand turn across oncoming traffic and once just driving down the road. I have taken the car to 2 separate dealerships for a total of 3 times and they drive it a few miles and tell me they can't duplicate the issue. I just picked my car up today after leaving it for 6 days. On my way home the emergency breaking system activated for no reason slowing my car down on the interstate. Both of these issues could get me or someone elas killed. I have not even had this car for 2 years and I am afraid to drive it. Please help. I know I am not the only person with this issue because I can see others on the internet who also have been told that the dealership can't dupe the problem. Even the dealership I just picked it up from said they had another car there with the same problem that they can't duplicate so there is nothing they can do.

Hello, I have Hyundai Sonata 2023. The fuel tank of this car is expanded on [XXX]. I have never heard about this issue to any cars. I took my car to dealership they said they don’t know why this happened and they said they cannot fix it, my car at the dealership more than a month. I have created a case with Hyundai corporate office in CA, it’s been a month since this case was created and I could reach out to my case manager only twice for this period of time. They are keep saying they are working on it, but no results they don’t even look at my car. Today I barely could reach my case manager and she told me that this is not under warranty and I will need to fix it out of my pocket. When I bring the car to the dealership they told me this not under warranty since warranty was up to 60k miles, I have 90k I asked them to fix it and I will pay but they said they don’t know how to fix it. Today I have researched and found that this issue is really common among Kia K5 and Hyundai Sonata’s 2021 2024, I will provide a link here: [XXX] Please check this link and you can see that most of the cars fuel tanks are expanded and back seats popped up. I have same exact problem. Kia asked drivers to inspect the cars with this issue and they said they will fix it for free since this is fuel tank defect. But what should I do with my Hyundai Sonata. I have same exact issue as you see at the link I have provided. I had powertrain DTC PO451 since march of this year dealership said just check if gas cap is on properly, but this caused this issue I see Hyundai will not help me it will almost 2 month I don’t have my car and I am still paying for it, please let me know what I can do Thank you! ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

2023 Hyundai Sonata Limited, 1.6 T. Battery discharged within 10 days while parked. This problem is well known to dealership. The dealership has to jump start cars and start them frequently on the dealership lot. It is impossible to park this model car at an airport or parking lot for more than a couple of days and maintain a battery charge. No warning or alerts. The problem is that the RESERVE amp hours of the standard stock battery is not adequate to supply the electronic drain of computers while parked.

STEERING,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
On two separate occasions, one at @9500 miles and the next at @19,000 miles the car engine started shaking and lost all power while driving. Unable to steer car. Both times towed to dealer and they say it needs new spark plugs and need to clean cylinders. They do not know root cause of problem and have not done any testing of the engine, no leak/compression testing. Dealer refuses to cover cost of repairs saying out of warranty but cannot give any assurances this won’t happen again. I’ve requested they contact Hyundai engineers to find out what’s causing this and, to date, they’ve done nothing. Vehicle is unsafe to drive and is still at dealership with no reason to underlying issue.

I have had three occasions where the dashboard lights would flash and the car would lose all power. The first occasion occurred on December 29th at around 12:20 pm at a crowded intersection. The dashboard lights lit up and all of a sudden the car had no power at all. I managed to get it through the intersection and pull it off to the side of the road. To start it up I have to TURN OFF THE CAR by putting it in park and start it up again. This is stressful and terrifying to think about if this had happened on the freeway. Additionally, I took the car to get serviced and was charged a $1,800 bill to fix it in January. This repair took two weeks to complete. The car has since turned off two additional times on February 15th going down a hill at 40 mph and March 26th on a mountain road going 60 mph. I am very concerned this will happen on the highway and I will get into a serious accident or worse. To make matters more difficult, I have taken the car back to the Hyundai dealer again to have it looked at in April and will most likely be without the car for at least another week. I bought the car brand new and the check engine light has gone off four times since then.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Instrument cluster lighting is too bright even on lowest setting. Combined with poor side visibility from headlamps it is easy to hit object or pedestrians when turning on unlit areas. Have run over a curb three times and damaged two wheels because they can't be seen from the overly bright instrument lighting at night.

Forward Collision Warning appeared, vehicle lost power and would not accelerate. Vehicle kept loosing power. Multiple codes appeared. I am an ASE certified mechanic, so I went to my own business to get my scanner and there was a list of codes. Vehicle is currently at dealership and they are tracking down issues. Currently blaming an ECM but unsure. This is the second vehicle I have had this exact issue with. I have video that it won't allow me to upload of all the codes. I have a video of a previous issue, with a different vehicle. It's a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe

SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES
1 complaint
The brake rotors are faulty and become warped at 9k mile I now have 27k and are extremely warped causing braking issues at higher speeds. I have been waiting over two months for new rotors from the dealer with no word as to when they will arrive. If the vehicle is left un-driven for a couple days the rotors will become rusted. Even the brand new vehicles in the Hyundia showroom are covered in rust. The suspension of the rear shock are extremely weak and bottoms out on the smallest rut. Cornering I’m the vehicle is subject to enormous amounts of whee hop which could result in an accident.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
1 complaint
My concern is a potential unintended acceleration forward as. I was. parking vechicle. Sudden burst of speed, went thru shrubbery and off a 2 foot wall. Felt as if we were taking off a runway in a plane. Car went nose up over the wall and then dropped into a neighbor yard digging a divot, ripping rear left fender and bumper with some undercarriage problems. My spouse and I were seatbelted and not injured. I can not recall any safety warning until car stopped and then do recall a message being on dash but cannot presently recall what it said. Vehicle currently being worked on at collision center where Insurence Appraisor gave go ahead with estimate to repair damages

Purchased a new Hyundai 2023 Sonata from McGovern Hyundai Rt 2 May 22, 2023. After two weeks of driving the vehicle, I noticed it hesitates when I push down on the gas pedal. I had planned to have the dealership take a look but have a very busy schedule, the issue continued each time I drove the car to the point it was hesitating, basically pausing as I cross intersections. On the 26th of July I was driving on the highway, as I started to experience issues when stepping on the gas. Entering a tunnel in Boston, I pushed down on the gas pedal and noticed the car was decelerating, I was losing speed, in a panic in the center lane of the tunnel, I was able to get the car over to the far right. The car was shaking aggressively then finally just gave out and I called 911. They towed the vehicle to the police headquarters, I called Hyundai for assistance. Had some hiccups but two days later they were able to service the vehicle, supposedly found a faulty fuel injector. They changed out the 1 faulty injector test drive and said the problem was fixed. I picked up my car on July 28th 2023. There is something still wrong with the car, it still has some hesitation and now misfires. Have not heard from Hyundai, I was assigned a case manager and told someone would follow up, no one has reached out. So lucky my children were not in the car and that i'm safe. I could have been killed, others could have been hurt/killed. This should not happen to brand new cars.

When I approach an intersection to stop my car auto shut off engages. When trying to hit the gas to release my car from auto shut off the emergency auto shut off engages and I must put my car in park. Turn the ignition to off and then crank my car back all the way on. Release the park and drive. This happens intermittently for several weeks and I’ve almost been rear ended several times. I have taken the car to a Hyundai dealership for the issue and they tell me nothing is wrong.
