Excessive engine oil consumption causing fouled spark plugs engine stalling. Engine was replace due to defective rod bearings at 98 000 mile under warranty and recall. Engine now ha 130,000 miles piston rings have failed. Stalled on busy freeway almost causing mutual crash.I have an appointment at the Hyundai delership October 28th 2015. Hyundai replaced one defective engine with another.

Motor started knocking yesterday 4/8/25 which was immediately followed by multiple dash sensors for oil and battery. As I pulled over to get assistance at a Jiffy Lube, the car stalled and wasn’t drivable but they also confirmed that the car should not be driven for risk of blowing the engine. Will be taking my vehicle in for an evaluation as soon as I am able to get it towed for further inspection and diagnostics.

Spun rod bearings. Noticed that was the issue with play in piston doing a screwdriver test and noticing thru under the oil pan before tear down. Had to pry the bearing off with pliers and hit with a screwdriver to remove. I have plenty of photos and videos

Spontaneous rod knocking, hindered performance which in tern poor acceleration, which could become a safety risk especially when commuting on a freeway. High risk of motor vehicle accidents or could lead to a fatal incident if left stranded on major roadways and railroad crossings.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal knocking sound and smoke coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle then lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. An unknown warning light was flashing before the vehicle had lost power; however, there were no warning lights illuminated once the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure and had not provided the contact with a specific diagnostic report. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V746000 (Engine), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 44,000.

The Hvac heater control assembly and panel shorted out and melted all the components (wiring harness, connector, temperature control knob). All these parts need replaced. There's no AC, heat or defrost, etc...until this is fixed. Also this is a 16 year old drivers vehicle and could have resulted in a much worse incident if she had been driving it when it occurred.

The connection to my AC control knob burned up and my AC only works between 2 & 3. This could have easily caused a fire as the connection and the knob are melted and burned. How has there not been a recall for this issue as there are many complaints that have been reported on this issue. This is a safety hazard!

On 06/252024 I was driving on my way home and my cars climate control were unresponsive and I smelt something burning. I arrived home removed the center console of my vehicle and noticed the AC control plug had melted and was burnt.

I have a Hyundai Veloster 2015 base (dual-clutch transmission) that has 152,000 miles. I’ve regularly kept up with maintenance. Fully synthetic oil changed every ~5k miles. About a month ago it got a brand new battery and a new alternator. I have some issues related to the transmission. My owners manual regarding transmission fluid says: TRANSMISSION FLUID: -Checking 6-speed automatic transmission fluid: The automatic transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick. Refer to your scheduled maintenance information for scheduled intervals for fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid. I’ve recently experienced intermittent issues with the transmission failing to engage 1st gear from a stop. I have a code P073F as well as P0420 that’s been intermittent for months. (I know that’s the cat converter) The engine revs but does not accelerate at all from a stop on occasion. It happened three times in the week. Also have issues with clutch (DCT) overheating. When this occurs, I will see the current gear that I am in (usually D but it has occurred in all others except P, N, and R) begins to flash (usually three times) with a chime warning noise. Restarting the vehicle resolves the issue occasionally. Then, a few days ago, after coming off of the highway I was no longer to get the car to go faster than around 20 to 30 mph and began to hear a loud clanking/metallic sound seemingly from the engine. The gear indicator began blinking rapidly and continued to blink in every gear in D as well as S and even when I put the vehicle in park. After turning it off and waiting about 10 mins I turned it on and the “P” was no longer blinking. Decided to test driving it through the parking lot and began blinking again pretty much as soon as it shifted gears and began to hear a metallic noise again. I suppose that I assumed it being a closed-circuit or “sealed” transmission meant there wasn’t maintenance to be done on it.

Vehicle consuming oil... been to dealership several times for this issue... oil consumption test performed confirming usage of oil. latest measurment on oil consumption was 1.8 quarts in 1000 miles. Vehicle blowing blue smoke, back of vehicle covered in oil. Vehicle lost power/accleration on highway causing large saftey issue. PA# from hyundai is 100577. Received updated warranty extension from hyundai up to 150,000. Car is exhibiting multiple signs of recall involving connecting rods. Have spoken with hyundai corporate, am now on my third case number with them.. case 19177351

So my Manual Heater knob randomly stopped working as I was driving on 6/4/21 around 11 am as I was about to do an errand run for my family. I was told from a friend that there was a TSB issued on it and looked it up. I went to my local dealership Island Hyundai Staten island explained what was going on and they told me because it is a TSB and not a recall you will be responsible for the cost of repair. I told them why should I when this is a defective situation out of my hands I shouldn't have too.

After driving my 2015 Veloster (Auto DCT) for 15-20 mins, I will come to a stop sign/stop light and the car will stall. I will try and restart my car several times (4-5) before it actually starts. When it does, my gauge cluster will not register RPM's. After several more restarts (usually 6), the RPM's will finally register but my car will not go into Drive or Reverse. Several more restarts and my car will finally go into gear. This usually occurs over a 20 minute period.

CYLINDER 1 HAS BEEN MISFIRING. HAS THE ERROR CODE P0301. I TOOK IT IN TO HYUNDAI AND THEY SAID IT WAS JUST A SPARK PLUG. CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS AND THE PROBLEM RESOLVED FOR A FEW MONTHS AND NOW IS WORSE. MISFIRES/BACKFIRES IN THE ENGINE WHEN PRESSING GAS. LOUD POPPING SOUND COMES OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE CAR ALSO DOES NOT DRIVE PROPERLY. IT IS SHAKY WHEN DRIVING.

DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION FAILING. INTERMITTENTLY BOOT OT ENGAGING INTO R OR D GEAR AND SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING ON STREET OR HIGHWAY. I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A VERY COMMON CONCERN FROM A HIGH NUMBER OF HYUNDAI VELOSTER OWNERS. I CONCIDER IT DANGEROUS AS HOW IT HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING TRYING TO ACCELERATE, GEAR SLIPPED OUT AND VEHICLE ONLY REVED HIGH AND NO ACCELERATION. LUCKILY NO FAST TRAFFIC WAS BEHIND ME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WORST. THIS HAS HAPPED TWICE AND HYUNDAI HAS YET NOT FOUND A FIX AND TOLD ME THEY CANT FIND PROBLEM AS THERE IS NO TROUBLE CODES REGISTERED IN TRANSMISSION. MILEAGE WHEN FIRST HAPPENED TO ME WAS ABOUT 50K AND SECOND TIME AT 90K. EVERY MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN BEEN PERFORMED TO VEHICLE WITH RECORDS.

THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT. THE RPM'S WILL INCREASE BUT THE SPEED WILL NOT. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT RE-ENGAGE UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND ACCELERATING, USUALLY WHILE I AM ON AND INCLINE AND AFTER THE TRASMISSION HAS BEEN THROUGH FREQUENT SHIFTS AT HIGH RPM'S. I HAVE VIDEO BUT IT IS TOO LARGE TO UPLOAD. THE PROBLEM CAN BE VIEWED ON YOUTUBE WITH A VEHICLE EXPERIENCING THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM.

WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST TURNED ON AND PUT INTO REVERSE IT PERIODICALLY WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR. IF YOU PUT THE CAR BACK INTO PARK AND THEN INTO REVERSE IT STILL WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR. YOU MUST PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN INTO GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS. WE HAVE RECORDED THE TRANSMISSION NOT GOING INTO GEAR AND BOTH HYUNDAI OF AMERICA AND OUR DEALER ARE DOING NOTHING. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT IF THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE IT THEMSELVES 'IT IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED'. THIS IS A MAJOR COMPONENT OF ANY CAR AND IT HAVING GEAR CHANGING ISSUES MAKES ME CONCERNED THAT IT COULD ESCALATE BEYOND THIS.

The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local dealer for a recall repair; however, after leaving the dealer, while driving approximately 30-40 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to shift into gear. The vehicle sat for two hours before being restarted and slowly driven to the place of employment, and was then driven to the residence. The contact was unable to determine if there were any warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer and was provided with information for towing services and a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 176,000.

I HAVE A RECALL ON THE HYUNDAI 2015 VELOSTER FOR FOUR YEARS SINCE THE LAWSUIT THAT YOU TOLD HYUNDAI CORP TO PUT LIFETIME WARRANTY ON DEFECTIVE CARS THGEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. MY CAR AGAIN IS BROKE DOWN TO OIL AROUND SPARKPLUGS I WENT THROUGH THE SAME PROBLEM IN OCT 2023 WHICH THEY PUT A GASKET ON IT AND CHARGE ME 505.00 DOLLARS. NOW THEY ARE MAKING IT HARD TO FIND A ENGINE TO REPLACED THE MANUFACTURED DEFECT ENGINE IN IT. DEBRIS IN CRANKSHAFT AND THEN SOLD WHICH CAUSE THE CONNECTING ROD PROBLEM PREMATURE. I NEED MY CAR AND CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS RESOLVE

Have a rod bearing that has worn prematurely, Was told that there are recalls Hyundai Recall 198 for this problem with other vehicles of this same year, make, and model but min was not included. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Veloster, 2012 Santa Fe, 2011-2013 Sonata Hybrid, and 2016 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. The connecting rod bearings inside the engine may wear prematurely, which over time can result in engine damage.

As I was turning off a main road into my neighborhood at night with little visibility for oncoming traffic, I lost power steering and the car began to shake. I was able to coast into my driveway. As I coasted into my driveway I noticed my engine, battery, and water light illuminated. Upon parking my car, I returned to where I lost my power steering found my damper pulley/crankshaft pulley and the crankshaft bolt in the middle of the street where I lost my power steering. I called the dealership and they took a look at it and are saying the entire engine needs to be replaced.

I HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY ENGINE. FOUND OUT THE ROD BEARING WAS GONE. CALL HYUNDAI AND POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRE WEEKS BEFORE IT HAPPENED. HAD TO SWAP ENGINES ON THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS BAD. ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE BURNING OIL REALLY BAD. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION GEARS DROPPING OUT OF NO WERE. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN I WHEN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND SHIFT IT INTO 2ND GEAR AND WHEN IT SHIFT TO 3RD IT DROP TO 1. THANKFULLY THERE WASN'T ANY OTHER CAR BEHIND ME. IT WOULD OF DEFINITELY COST AN ACCIDENT AND HAD MY 1 YEAR OLD WITH ME. I TALK TO HYUNDAI AND TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO MUCH ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE WITH SAME ISSUES.

The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine was losing pressure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that before the vehicle had the tune-up, the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact had not noticed any oil stains on the ground. The check engine light was occasionally illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

ABS, EPS, check engine light appeared on dashboard then car’s steering wheel stiffed and car lost power. Vehicle’s hood smells burnt and has fumes come out after driving for 10-20minutes. My safety and my family’s was endangered as this happened while driving on the road. Not at a stop sign or a red traffic light but while driving. The dealer has refused to inspect/address the issue without having me paid close to $2,500.00 for other repairs.

This has happened on 4 different occasions. I'm on the highway and my speedometer slams to zero and everything involving the brakes lights up in my dash. The car continues to drive but it's pretty worrisome as I drive 70mph around alot of traffic. I have been able to pull over every time but it's still beyond unacceptable. I've had my Veloster a little under a year and I don't know if the other recall involving the motor being replaced was taken care of. It was a recall associated with my VIN. I have a video of it happening but for some reason I try to upload it on the app and it won't allow me to. It is the proper format.

HVAC system has failed twice, upon inspecting, connections are melted. This is a fire RISK. Fuses constantly blow. Check engine light constantly comes on and after having auto zone diagnose, issues include Power Train System (P2261), anti-lock brake system - Wheel Speed Sensor (all 4) show invalid/No Signal. Constant knocking noise under the engine which related to the Rod bearing recall. This car is a FIRE and SAFETY HAZARD waiting to happen. My outlets barely produce power, my lights flicker constantly, my battery has been replaced multiple times, as well as the HVAC once.

Blower motor stops working about every 1.5 years. It was initially reported as a blower motor recall and the dealer replaced it twice but it went out a 3rd time about 2.5 years ago. They searched for the problem after realizing they had replaced the blower motor twice but could not locate the defect, at which point they charged me over $300.00 for their efforts to locate the problem. They wanted to keep looking for the problem but I told them no, just put it back together that I wasn't going to pay them to search for their defect. I have since been told by someone who claimed to be a mechanic for Hyundai that it is a computer chip problem that requires them to pull a lot of things on the dash to replace the chip and it is not cheap. I have a mechanic that is trying to get the chip and install it for me but I won't know for certain that this is the problem until the chip is replaced. I have driven the car for about 2.5 years without heat or air conditioning but can't work when it rains because the windshield fogs up in the rain and I can't see. I also can't drive the car when I can't get the windshield cleared of ice. Now the engine is burning oil but there's no recall for that issue according to your website. The car now has 173,624 mile on it.

AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. The safety recall on my vehicle has been open for nearly 7 months with a risk of fire. There is still no status as to when my vehicle can be serviced to prevent this risk of fire. I find this lack of urgency completely unacceptable considering the risk.

HVAC system wiring is melted, only works intermittently between knob #3-4. check engine light comes off and on for Wheel Speed Sensor (all 4) Invalid/No Signal. Fuses consistently blow. Multiple complains have been made by other 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo owners. In addition to these issues being a HUGE fire risk, there was a new fire risk safety recall issued in sept 2023 with no resolution. Hyundais only current resolution for this is to “park away from structures in the meantime”, and will send a letter out once resolved. The HVAC system has been replaced once prior.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Additionally, the brakes were dragging. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal again, the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 30 IN LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS GOING ABOUT 70 I PUT THE CAR IN CRUISE CONTROL AS WERE APPROACH A HILL THE CAR SHOT UP TO 6000 RPM AND WOULD NOT SHIFT, I HAD TO TAKE CRUISE CONTROL OFF AND USE MANUAL DRIVE. I THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLY JUST A FLUKE ACCIDENT BUT THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED AND EVENTUALLY WHEN I PUT MY CAR AND DRIVE IT WON'T GO IT TAKES A WHILE FOR IT TO TAKE OFF AND WHEN IT DOES TAKE OFF IT JERKS INTO GEAR .. I HAS BEEN RUNNING ROUGH AND FEELS LIKE IT MISSING.. The car was repaired at a Hyundai dealership less than a month prior to the incident. I was driving down a road with no one around besides me and my passenger when all of a sudden Orange sparks start flying out the sides of the car, I slow down and pull over as fast as I could, then I noticed fire on the passenger side and hurried us out the car. It proceeded to burn away until the firefighters came.

While washing my 2015 Veloster, the shark fin anntena just broke off, I see this has happened with hundreds of Hyundai Vehicles yet they have not done anything about it. The Dealer wants an outrageous $500 to $600 , I got crazy glue and carefully glued it back on. its solid as a rock now and only cost me $6.99 for the glue.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that the plastic bushing inside the steering column was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed by the mechanic that there might have been a recall on the vehicle related to the failure. The mechanic referred him to the dealer. The dealer informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle, and he was then referred to the NHTSA.gov website. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE (ROUGHLY 2017) WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY FAN CONTROL KNOB STARTED SPINNING FREELY, IT STILL WORKED BUT CONCERNED I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP WHO ALL BUT DISMISSED THE COMPLAINT. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE KNOB STARTED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY AND WOULD ON OCCASION CUT OFF THE FAN IF I WERE TO HIT A BUMP. BY THE END OF 2019 THE KNOB HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD HELD OFF ON GETTING IT REPAIRED AS IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX AND AFTER DOING QUITE A LOT OF RESEARCH I DISCOVERED IT IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE WITH MY MAKE AND MODEL CAR. IT POSES A SERIOUS HAZARD AS WHERE I LIVE IT IS EXTREMELY HUMID AND COLD DURING THE WINTER MONTHS AND NO AMOUNT OF WIPING AND CLEANING THE WINDSHIELD GETS RID OF ALL OF THE FOG MEANING IT POSES A REAL THREAT BY LIMITING VISIBILITY.

THE A/C KNOB, WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IS TURNED ON, LIGHTS UP. THIS LIGHT BURNS UP THE INSIDE OF THE KNOB AND CAUSES THE CONNECTIONS TO BURN OUT WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE AIR SPEED SETTINGS. CURRENTLY MINE MUST SIT AT 3 OR IT DOESNT WORK AT ALL. my car 2015 Hyundia Veloster has been under recall since 2021 for connecting rod failure in engine and oil leaking around spark plugs that could cause a fire plus what the other recall is. Hyundai Corp refuses to repair my car, it has ksds, oil consumption, refuse to do engine inspection, wanting to charge me for items related to a recall. my car as stated with you before eating oil, poor compression stalls knock loses power i recently had to pay 3200.00 for catalytic converters so i would have a car only to find out it could happen again due to recall number198. i need someone to help me get this resolve. why should have to replace my engine when it under recall and you can't sell your car due to that? i have been fighting Hyundai Corp for two years i had oil around my spark plugs in 2023, black spark plugs 2024

I was on the highway and looked at my speedometer and the mph was at 0. The abs and the brake light warnings came on and I couldn't accelerate and hardly brake. I pulled to the shoulder immediately. Took a couple hundred feet to finally stop. It was a very scary moment thinking my brakes have gone. My cars lights (headlights, gage cluster lights, dash lights, radio screen light, etc..) and screen for my radio and back up camera, all turn off by themselves, for maybe 1 second or 2, while driving. This happens randomly, no warning, no special conditions, just out of nowhere, and for no reasons. Since I bought the car in September of 2020 (used, as is) it has done it now 7 or 8 times, with tonight being the most recent occurrence. I don't know how to have it checked or verified by a technician because there's no forewarning before it happens. It's completely random and unexpected. It's very scary, especially with my children in the car.

Since purchasing my car in 2015, I've had to have the A/C knob replaced 3 times for it melting on the inside and disconnecting, being unable to control the fan. That seems extremely hazardous and ridiculous that nothing has been said about it before. I've searched many forums and it has been a common from problem for many people with this same car. Just so happened that someone who mentioned theirs was smoking inside of the car suggested we can actually report the issue, so I am submitting mine in hopes it's be noticed.

My 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo had no open recalls. On 12/26/21, while stopped at a light, the car stalled, then started smoking, and caught fire almost instantly. There are known fire issues for similar models for which there are open recalls, but my car was not a part of these recalls.

My 2015 Veloster Reflex has been at Alan Jackson, Jackson TN. for 45 days. The vehicle was serviced there for campaigns/recalls. The primary complaint, engine failure while I was driving down Highway 70, the engine completely shut off, a defective engine, a product which Hyundai is at fault. The defective engine is consuming 1 quart of oil per 80 miles. I asked the service department to start the oil consumption test, Brian the lead technician, responded "You need a new engine." This safety hazard and economic burden has yet to be resolved. The Veloster is kept and maintained in immaculate condition. While the vehicle is only garage kept, it is now in the elements without protection, remaining on the lot of the service department for over 45 days, which is not in good faith a suitable resolution period. I commute 100 miles round trip for my profession as a University Professor in Microbiology for the University of Tennessee. My 2015 Veloster Reflex is my primary mode of transportation to various satellite and main campus obligatory profession duties. I am without transportation due to Hyundai's negalence in properly addressing these chief safety hazardous engine failures/massive oil (synthetic) consumption which is now blowing through my catalytic converter, exiting through my exhaust tips, turning them black and splattering oil along my rear bumper. The original case manager, Jose, failed to respond to this safety hazard in the 10 business days which Hyundai has set forth, as well as, when Jose would tried to be reached on my behalf, Jose was never available, in addition too, his voicemail was always full, which meant I could not leave a message. Again, is this how Hyundai's customer care is really showing through their actions that they do care?

I HAVE REPORTED AN ISSUE TO RONNIE FREEZE, SERVICE MANAGER AT O. B. , MS. HYUNDAI IN APRIL 2015. LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. I HAD ENGINE AND STARTING FAILURE FOR 15-25 MINUTES AFTER A CHECK SENSOR CODE POPPED UP. I GAVE THIS CODE TO SERVICE, AND ALL THEY COULD SAY WAS, 'WELL, I NEVER HEARD OF THAT'. LET ME KNOW IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. AND IT DID, AND I REPORTED IT, AND... NOTHING. SAME OLD THING, DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT COULD BE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN BEING PLACED INTO DRIVE, THE ENGINE MADE AN ABNORMAL THUD SOUND, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STUCK, AND THE BRAKES MADE AN ABNORMAL WHINING SOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11.
